Ellie created a podcast about musical shows. In her research, she found it easy to gather information since she had seen many of the shows herself. However, she realized some parts of her podcast overlapped sounds which made it hard to follow. Her planning helped her structure the podcast, but she could have interviewed more people. Ellie managed her time well and completed the project on time. Her peer feedback noted the relevant sounds and clear script but suggested introducing songs and adding an ending. Ellie agreed improvements could be made to audio quality and consistency.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
3. Research
• Strengths
• The research was easy to do because that was a lot of musicals podcast on the computer.
• It was easy to make the podcast because I already had been to see the shows so it gave me a lot of
information about what I could include in my shows podcast. I did an interview with mum and
asked her different questions about shows and what she likes about going to see shows and we
talked about her favourite restaurants to go to in London and Hull. And we also talked about her
favourite songs from the musicals.
• Weaknesses
• I could research more detailed podcast this would have added more variety to my own podcast.
When I did the podcast on the software I overlapped the sounds and the music which was hard to
follow where they went. I need to be careful and not overlap the sound and music.
• How did my research help? the research helps me with my podcast because I knew a
lot about the shows because I have been and seen the shows in London and Hull. It
helps me plan the script. It is easy to talk about something that you are interested in
than something you are not interested in.
• What effect did it have?
• It made it flow and gave it more variety and made it more detailed and made my
podcast more interesting.
5. Planning
• Strengths
• I came up with 3 ideas for my podcast I came up with a bake podcast, shows podcast and a
sustainable podcast. For my final podcast I decided to do a shows podcast because I love the whole
idea of seeing a show and l also like the whole experience of seeing a show and going out for a
meal before the show starts. The planning helps me stay on task because it was broken down into
the different stages for each of the lesson. I am very organised person I always do my work on
time.
• How did your planning help your product?
• It was good to listen to different podcasts to get ideas and also helps me to format and structure my
project.
• Weaknesses
I could have had a backup plan in case people were not available
What could you have done better?
I could have done a group interview to challenge myself to talk to new people.
What effect would this have had on your product
Could have had a bigger audience.
6. Time Management
• Did you manage your time well?
• I did manage my time well I complete all of my work on time I always work
hard with my project and always put a 100% in doing all of my project. I try
and do my work by myself and ask for help with my spelling and for them to
check my work.
• did you complete your project on time or would your products have improved
with additional time?
• I did complete the project on time, but I could have interviewed a bigger group
of people if I had more time doing this project.
• What would you have done if you had more time to produce your work?
• I could edit my podcast by adding the group noise of them talking. This would
have made my podcast more interesting.
8. Aural Qualities
• Does your work sound good?
• My podcast sounds really good. I love the songs and the sounds I chose for my shows podcast. I think it came together really
nice and I was happy with the final project that I made.
• Was it creative?
• My podcast was very creative. I came up with these ideas myself because I love seeing shows. I wanted my podcast to be
fun, entertaining and interesting for my audience to hear my podcast on the radio on their way to work or college.
• What aspect of your product audio do you like?
• I like the music I chose because the songs are very up beat and the songs makes you wants to get up and dance and makes
you want to sing along to them.
• I also like it when I did the interview with mum because she was good at answering all of the questions. It was good to do it
with her because she has been to all the shows that I talk about in my shows podcast.
• what would you improve?
• Could have slowed down with my talking because I was talking to fast.
• How would you improve it? I would improve this by slowing down with my talking and not to go too fast when I am talking
about the different types of shows.
• Strengths
• I am good at coming up with the ideas. I am good at thinking about the different songs that would fit into my podcast and
the different sounds that I wanted for my shows podcast.
• Weaknesses
• Need to build my confidence up and not gets as nervous talking.
•
