The document summarizes the process of creating a background for a mobile video game. Key steps included:
1) Creating cars of different sizes using different pixel pencil tools to populate the background more quickly. A stolen car and police car were made with numbers to identify them.
2) Duplicating the police car layer to imitate flashing lights and adding a mph meter with separate hands layers to display speed.
3) Adding left and right thumb buttons with shadow layers to control the stolen car that move down when pressed.
4) Finally, a fuel bar was added to indicate to the player that fuel is running low.
2. Process
When creating the background for my video game I had to create a car to
make the back ground the right size for the cars.
I also made the game horizontal so that you could play it on a mobile phone
and or tablet.
I made the background with a 50 pixel pencil tool so that I could cover large
surfaces a lot faster, but when creating the car I used the pencil tool on 1 pixel
and the I altered the colour using the eye drop tool.
3. Process
After finishing the stolen car I the used the same design and the pencil size but
different colours for the police car, I labelled the cars not only to make it easier
for me to tell the different but to make the more realistic because police cars
have numbers on the top of the car.
I also duplicated the police car layers so that I could change from the original
to the copy to imitate the flashing lights on a police car.
4. Process
When I had finished with the cars I then realised that I would have to create a mph
meter to show the player how fast the car was going also I created it so that the
screen wasn’t empty.
I used the pencil tool on 1 pixel for the mph meter, I had 5 different layers for the
mph meter, 1 for the meter face and 4 different layers for the 4 separate hands.
5. Process
And when I remembered that the game was made for a smart phone and or for a
tablet I decided to put buttons for your thumbs to move the stolen car left and
right to avoid the police cars.
There are 4 different layers for the thumb buttons, there are 2 buttons and then 2
shadows.
When you press the button I turn off the shadow and then move the button down
2 or 3 pixels down the page to create the illusion of a button being pressed.
6. Process
After the buttons I then create the fuel bar to indicate to the player that
your running out of fuel.
