2. Process
I made the entire background blue using the
largest pencil size, and then add clouds by
creating one cloud and duplicating it several times
and moving them around. I then merged the
clouds onto one layer and the background onto a
different layer. I designed the Characters in a different
style then how characters are usually
drawn. For example, neither have faces.
Also the second character has messy hair
and a plain outfit, even though they are a
princess. This is to revert expectations and
make the game unique. I also had to make
a back for the first character as they’d be
moving. And a side for both of them
I designed the tower, platforms and ladders on
separate layers. First I made the tower fill up most
of the screen, then I made a platform the same
with as the tower and duplicated them, spreading
them out to make sure it could fit both of the
characters in it. After that, I put all of the
platforms on one layer. I did the same with the
ladder, making sure it was tall enough, and then
duplicating them and placing them throughout
the level.
The enemy was surprisingly simple to
create as I wanted them to look more
cute than creepy and it manages to
stand out against the pastel colours. I
duplicated one of them to make more,
but kept them on separate layers so I
could move them around freely.
I Added doors,
apples and an
apple counter
to finish it off.
3. Process
I made the end screen through multiple layers and it was inspired by
the title of the game, which is dream boat. I made the ocean on one
layer and used a blur tool to make it look realistic. I made the ship on
another layer, without any sails or detail, just the outline.
On a third layer I added lines and sales and on a final layer I made the
logos on the sails which all feature hearts. I am going to ad the
characters, apples and an “the end” title screen. I also plan on using
the boat for my app logo design.
This is the end screen with everything in it. I had to
duplicate the layers so they wouldn't interfere with the
game.
4. Process
I found some calming music that I could put in the background on YouTube
and I used a converter online to convert it into mp3. I shortened it a bit and
placed it so it would deliberately last longer than the video as I plan on doing
credits.
5. Process
I am adding in sound effects. I have added an effect of a door closing and of an apple
crunch and I plan on getting a hit sound effect or someone saying “ouch” After that all I
have to do is add end screens.
