Working Title:
Gaea
Audience:
The brief we were given was to create a video game of our own choice which will appeal to 16-19
year olds. This bracket would contain mature gamers who have probably been gaming since their
childhood. Considering this, my audience will be for fans of Indie style games that are narrative
based and require a dedication to complete. The game will not be aimed at a specific gender or
sexuality as I plan to make the game visual appealing but still action/adventure based which in
theory should appeal to both male and female audiences. An achiever (psychographic category)
will probably enjoy this more as it requires a drive to complete as the game will get progressively
harder as the player progresses.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
I do not consider my advergame as a reliable reflection of the product that I will make in this
project. Although the advergame helped me progress my skills in Photoshop and other production
software, the level of quality in the animation and were not of a very good standard compared to
what I could produce now. I enjoyed producing the music for the last game on beepbox.com which
I plan to do this time.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The concept of my video game is a puzzle based platformer which involves the main character
traversing through levels whilst solving puzzles to progress. The main dynamic of the game will be
that the main character can change form to different animals in order to solve different puzzles or
defeat different bosses. For example, the bear form will be able to smash through barriers which
the main character can not whilst the rat form will be able to crawl through small holes. The
narrative will be that the character awakens in a forest and must discover the secrets of the land
whilst coming to terms with his new powers. I plan to feature cutscenes in the game to push the
narrative as this is what I would like to focus on most other than the game play.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I plan to screenshot all the processes during my production as this is where my main issues
occurred in the print project as I spent a lot of time going through my Photoshop files and muting
the layers to show the production process.
