Research
• I think my research has really helped me in my production as it helped me
understand what sort of thing to involve in my endless runner game and
what appeals to the audience of this genre of game. This also helped me
to come up with ideas for my game that weren’t like the professional ones
so I knew what I could add to make my game stand out compared to the
other endless runner games. I feel I could have maybe looked at some
more pixel games that were not endless runners to see what sort of
designs are in pixel games and the type of game play is in pixel games.
Planning
• I feel as though I planned my game very well and it helped the production
of my game run very smoothly. My planning helped me design the interior
of my space ship and characters as I found some concept are for aliens and
I got images from films that inspire me. I feel I cold have maybe done
some animation tests before starting my final design and game animation.
I feel that a few more tests would have helped make my production run a
bit smoother and have made the final game animation look a bit better.
Time Management
• I feel as though I could have managed my time for this project a bit better
as my planning and research both took longer than I hoped they would
which made my production start a bit late. I did finish my production on
time but I feel it was rushed and that I could have made my game a little
better if I had more time and started when I planned to.
• If I had more production time I would have made alternate backgrounds
and characters to choose from for the game. I would have also added a
counter for the distance and maybe some power ups or something to
collect like coins or something.
Technical Qualities
• I think the level of detail in my game is good for the time I had to design
and animate my characters and background. All my animations run
smoothly and there is nothing I can say is wrong with my animation. I
think I could have maybe added a few more things to my animation such
as dust behind my character as he runs like in the endless runner game
temple run and a bit more movement on the bigger alien when you do
reach the boss alien. I feel maybe the background of my game could be
more detailed like in the endless runner game jetpack joyride.
Aural Qualities
• I feel like I could have done more for my audio as it is not very good. I
could have added some more sound effects, for example I could have
done some sound effects for the aliens as they don’t have any sound
sounds for their running or dying. I could have also created a roaring
sound effect for the bigger alien for when you lose and get killed.
Comparing the audio in my endless runner game to a professional endless
runner game such as Temple Run the audio could be much better in my
game.
Aesthetic Qualities
• I think my final product has turned out good. I think the running cycle in
my game has come out really well and also the design of the main
character. I think I could have improved my back ground as it is very plain
and is just one colour for a lot of the game. I think the design for the
smaller aliens could be a bit better as they are a bit blocky compared to
the main character and big alien. I also think I could have animated the
shooting a bit better making it smoother and the count down clock when
you get to the boss battle could be a bit better.
Audience Appeal
• I have set my endless runner game in a sci-fi setting with guns as my
audience is a male audience and sci-fi and guns appeal more to this
gender than a female audience. I designed the main character as a male
character so it a appeals more to a male audience. I think the overall
design of my game will make it appeal more to my audience. I think the
walk cycle of the main character and aliens makes the game run much
smoother making it look more appealing to watch and play. The colour
pallet of my game would also make it appeal more to a male audience
because of the red background.
