Research
• For my research I looked up games that involved coin
collecting such as: Subway Surfers, Mario Bross, Lep’s Word
and a lot more, but the game that was quite similar to my
final idea was Lep’s World so I decided to look it up in a bit
more details.
• Afterwards I started looking up some characters and pixel
drawings to help me get a better idea of what I was about to
produce. However, I ended up using some existing characters
that I researched and this made my whole video game not as
original as I thought it would be
Planning
I think that the planning of my project wasn’t too bad but I could
have definitely improved it.
One thing that I liked about my planning was the research as it
gave me a clear idea of what I was going to produce.
However, I could have improved my Powerpoints and add more
details when explaining something. This would have had a big
effect on my project as I would have known what to do exactly,
preventing the mistakes I made during the production of it.
Time Management
In general my time management was quite good. I focused on
the elements to make my game the first week then I produced
the actual game the second week. I was able to finish my project
before the deadline but I think that I could have improved it with
additional time.
If I had additional time I would have changed the obstacles a bit
or added some more to make the game a bit more intense. I
would have also changed to audio so that it doesn’t sound so
repetitive.
Technical Qualities
• In general, each element that I used in my
game was quite detailed.
The character I used looks very basic but detailed
which is something I quite liked in the game. The
way I also used the walking cylcle made the
character’s running more realistic.
• In general, each element that I used in my game was quite
detailed.
The only thing that I could have improved was the background
buildings and also the smoothness of the animation
• I really like the way the harts
and flappy bird turned out as
it looks quite detailed.
• Flappy bird is an existing
element so the details were
already there but I still like
how it turned out
Aural Qualities
In general I think my audio was not too bad but also not that good. The
general background sound that I used fits the game perfectly in my
opinion including the positive sound every time my character catches a
coin and the negative sound every time my character isn’t able to avoid
an obstacle which is also something I thought made the game
intertaining.
However the audio that I used when the game started was getting a bit
repetitive, this made the game a bit boring as the sound was getting
annoying. If I used a different audio when the character was jumping
down to the floor it would have been way better
Aesthetic Qualities
In general I think my work looks quite good but isn’t
that creative
which is something I could have worked a bit more
on.
I really like the way I created my backgrounds as I
think that having 2 backgrounds for
my character to run on the rooftop then jump down
to the road was quite creative.
However I think that it would have looked even
better if I added a bit more details to the buildings
and the night sky
I like the way I used hearts
Instead of a life bar, this makes
my game a bit more unique
One thing I could improve is using existing images as
that doesn’t make my game original and makes it
less creative. For example, the use of Flappy Bird as
an obstacle in my game makes it boring because a
lot of people would have already seen Flappy Bird
before and also because it could be copyright .
Audience Appeal
In my proposal I said that my target audience was mainly male and females age
16-19 but now that I finished my project I think that my game can also attract
a younger audience.
My game looks very bright and lively
Which could easily atract 16-19 year olds
but also 14+ year olds because it is a coin
collection game which is played and liked by
everyone
