I. Introduction A. Thesis Can we envision the street art, which was created illegally, to be protected by
the law itself? I would like to open a discussion about the lawful preservation of street art, specifically
the uncommissioned art that is made illegally by the artists, because it rose to the level of cultural and
historical significance, evidenced by the heightened interest in street art by the professional art dealers
and museum curators, as well as, the general public. I will focus predominantly on Banksy, an
anonymous British artist, because he is a vivid example of a successful and globally recognized street
artist. First, I will provide background information about Banksy; street art opposed to graffiti; and
Banksy s cultural significance. Next, I will write about the contemporary legal status of the street art;

Ronald Knox s Commandments In Detective Fiction
Ronald Knox s commandments for detective fiction ultimately function as a guide for what he
believes constitutes a fair and satisfying instance of the genre, each charge serving to avoid a non
fulfilling resolution for the reader. Knox s rules in combination work to this end and the ambitions of
this essay are to explore works from Poe and Christie in relation to these commandments. Poe,
considered the instigator of the detective fiction genre through the Dupin tales penned and published
works that would assist in defining its conventions, providing a prototype for future authors. Christie
was a beneficiary of these earlier works and attempted to modernize the pre established conventions of
detective fiction , in an era in which the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dupin succeeds in making the impossible, possible, however the revelation of a previously
unmentioned animal killer still brings about a feeling of less than complete satisfaction. Contributing
to this feeling is Dupin s concealment of clues from the reader, with the presence of tawny hair not
made present in the story until after the indictment of the Ourang Outang to which it belonged. Both
of these factors hold some blame in producing a conclusion that could be considered less than
fulfilling.
Conversely in Christie s Murder on the Orient Express the authors use of a locked room scenario
ensures the reader has some chance of identifying the killer whilst a web of false identities and alibis
create difficulty for any reader attempting to solve the puzzle. Christie also provides any and all
evidences used in the final conclusion to be available to the reader as immediately as they are to the
detective. Murder on the Orient Express is set up for a shocking and satisfying conclusion from its
first pages, with all the elements of the solution found woven into the text before the grand reveal.
Poe s approach differs to Christie s in that he does not provide the reader the facts required for the
crime to be

Analysis Of The Grapes Of Wrath
The first section begins with John Grimes 14th birthday. John cleans the room after eating breakfast
and gets upset that no one remembered his birthday. Then, his mother sends him to get what he wants
as his birthday present. Upon returning home, he finds out that Roy had been stabbed. Later, John and
Elisha are seen cleaning the church that they attend.
The second section begins with Florence in the church after a long time. She remembers her childhood
and bitterness she had toward Gabriel because he was their mother s favorite. Leaving behind Gabriel
and their mother, Florence bought a ticket to NYC where she married Frank. She then remembers a
letter from Deborah, Gabriel s first wife where she assumed that Gabriel had an affair and a child.

is going to help you understand the reason for the summer dew. A long time ago, there was a family of
fairies who lived in a beautiful, mushroom home in a magical, faraway place called Fairyland. There
were thousands of beautiful fairies flying all around in this magical land and each and every fairy had
their very own daily job to do. Many different types of fairies existed in Fairyland including gardener
fairies, teacher fairies, cleaning fairies, musical fairies, and many more. Fairyland was one of the most
beautiful, magical, and happiest places on earth. The land was full of nothing but happiness, and

A Report On Alexander The Great Essay

December 4, 2014
Synopsis
I did my this day in history report on Alexander the Great. Alexander the great is known for many
things. He was king of Macedonia, a military genius, and the greatest conqueror of all time to name a
few. Alexander was taught by many great minds, perhaps most responsible for his greatness was
Aristotle. Alexander was given many hard tasks and tremendous responsibilities as a child and teen,
which he carried out with ease. As an adult king, Alexander ruled over Macedonia and kept it safe
from invasion and rebellion. He then sought to conquer as much of the world as possible. When
Alexander was about 30, a feat in itself, he ruled over the biggest empire in the history of the world
(this record still stands today). Alexander the great died in June 323 B.C. with mysterious causes of
death that are still argued today. He died as the greatest conqueror of all time and an inspiration to
many. Historians are finding amazing new things about Alexander to this day that continue to amaze
everyone and add to his greatness.

How I Started Playing Baseball Essay
Narrative essay
I started playing baseball in my high school year. As a matter a fact, I struggled in my high school
baseball team because my teammates, who already had been playing baseball since they were in
kindergarten or elementary school, were better than I. However, in the middle way of junior year, I
made the varsity baseball team. I was glad and quite honored that I made the varsity team. However,
my happiness would soon be depleted. Although I was on the team, I spent most of my time on the
bench. I tried to find a baseball technique that I could take advantage over other players. When I tried
to find some skill frantically, I found out that bunting is one of my key factors to be a starting member.
I practiced bunting all day long even if people told me that bunting is a drab and an unattractive
strategy. Although I spent most of the varsity game on the bench, there were few times I had to go up
for bunting. Eventually, I successfully laid a bunt most of the time. At the end of junior year, I was a
starting member of the varsity team. After I got myself to be a starting member, I stopped practicing
bunting because I enjoyed hitting base hit and home run. However, in the final game of my high
school year, it paid me a prize.
In my senior year, it had been the unbelievable season for me, my team and I went into a CIF final.
My teammates and I were cheered and excited to be in the final. Besides, my high school stats were
pretty decent. I had confidence with my stats

Comparing Othello s Jealousy In The Film O
The modernised basketball film O translates William Shakespeare s tragedy script Othello into a high
school teen drama. The film gets its individuality and power from the fact that its plot, themes,
motivations and actions of its characters are a modern comparative to the seventeenth century play.
The director and writer of the 2001 film O have produced a near identical productions, all while
adding a more modern twist to the context of a high school violence. Every wondered why
modernized versions of Shakespeare s plays are so successful? It s because the writers and directors
take the work of Shakespeare s Elizabethan era plays and adapt their meanings, plot and values for a
modern audience to appreciate. Jealousy, woman and power will ... Show more content on

in the Elizabethan era the ideologies they had towards woman were that they belonged to their
husbands and fathers, woman were submissive, woman were objects and were to be kept and
controlled, woman didn t have a voice to speak in society, they were to be obedient. In Othello
Desdemona challenges these ideologies in the Elizabethan era, Desdemona rebels against her father
and loves a man of a lower rank, Emilia challenges the dominant man by questioning her husband, she
also defies her husband Iago by telling the truth about the manipulation, Desdemona supports the
Elizabethan cultural assumptions by allowing Othello to murder her by being submissive.
Quote/Evidence In the film O Desi is a submissive character. O is transformed to suit a modern

The Fast Food Industry Essays
The dagger of the people is always twisting and changing the fast food world. Fast food itself has
always been changing due to social, economic, and health concerns. To begin I will cover the origins
of fast food, followed by a brief discussion about McDonalds as well as Burger King. This will be
accompanied by a brief discussion on Taco Bell, with our final subject covering healthier fast food
options. The origins of the fast food death machine : The machines gears were forged by the company

In addition to the actual state of the restaurant the figure head of a fast food industry must also capture
the minds of potential consumer via a seemingly moronic yet intelligent and sentient being. A perfect
example of this would be the clown from McDonald s, his bizarre and inhuman looks capturing the
visual attention of the consumer while the mild mannered psychotic behavior both tantalizes us and
fills us with fear of the consequences of not consuming the double cheese burger. Another prime
example would be the burger king (view a commercial with the king and all of this will make perfect
sense) and his disturbing imagery and behavior, simply appearing at your bed side offering flame
broiled delights always with a exceedingly morbid and paralyzing smile suggesting that the burgers
are poisoned and that one will die as a result of eating them (of course the commercial never shows
the fate of the kings victim). In retrospect while it may appear that the gimmicks themselves do not
actually draw the consumer in the imagery mixed with their events taking place seem to have captured
and reeled in the consumers mind and thus achieved the companies goal. The economic way is the
only way: since the beginning of the fast food industry there has always been one simplistic train of
thought, yes its good but how do we make money

Boron On The Periodic Table
Boron Boron is one of 118 elements on the Periodic Table and is in everyday life. Boron has a lot of
facts to learn about such as, Who found or created this element? or, What uses do this element have? .
Out of all the elements, Boron is an interesting element that stands out from others because it is a
powder. This element is also a necessary ingredient that is used in soap. From all the elements on the
periodic table, Boron is a unique element in a lot of ways such as the fact that Boron is a metalloid;
metalloids are not very common in the periodic table. In this essay, Boron is in a number of questions
that will be answered. Boron is an unquestionably interesting element.
First of all, the name of this element is Boron. Its symbol is just, B . Boron is in group 13 of the
periodic table which is called, The Boron Group , since Boron is the first element of group 13. It is
also a Period 2 element. Boron is a solid. It also has 2 energy shells. Boron s atomic number is 5 and
its atomic mass is 10.811 atomic mass units. Also, it has 5 protons, 5 electrons, and 6 neutrons. It is a

this element. I had other choices too, but I wanted to learn about Boron. The second reason is that
Boron is a powder. There are not many elements on the Periodic Table that are a powder. So, that
makes Boron even more unique and also encourages me to learn more about Boron. My final reason is
that Boron has a lot of information. Compared to some other elements, Boron has more information
that can be used to learn or study. Most of that information is interesting

Essay about Inherit the Wind
Inherit the Wind is about a 24 year old teacher named Bertram T. Cates, who is arrested for teaching
Darwin s Theory of Evolution to his junior high class. Some high profile Hillsboro town s people
press charges and have Cates arrested for teaching evolutionism in a stringent Christian town. A
famous lawyer named Henry Drummond defends him; while a fundamentalist politician Matthew
Harrison Brady prosecutes. The story takes place in Hillsboro, which is a small town in Tennessee.
Cates is merely trying to teach to his class that there is more to life than just what the Bible teaches.

Having the label of colonel applied to his name only increases his perceived appearance of power and
knowledge. The locals feel inferior to Brady s intellectual persona radiating from his ego. This is
identical to cults where the members feel inferior as common folk, compared to the omnipresent
director. Like many cultic leaders, Brady eventually falls victim to realism and practicality. Brady is
no expert on the Bible and that is made abundantly clear during the trial. He is wise enough to recall
major key elements, and has also committed many Biblical passages to memory. However, he is naïve
and poorly versed on the literal translation of some controversial facets of the Bible, which in turn
destroy his credibility during cross examination by Drummond when he takes the stand. Bertram
Cates is not a typical criminal. He is quiet and reserved and doesn t to want to cause trouble or
conflict. He is merely standing up for what he believes in and is doing his best to teach his students
that there is more to the world than what the Bible states. He is viewed as unchristian and toxic by the
locals. Both Drummond and Cates experience a struggle against mainstream society. Cates doesn t try
to stand up for himself too much, he actually is quite dependant on Drummond for support and
direction. In the end, Cates is ironically more forgiving than his Christian counterparts. Cates role in
the film is quite small in

Curriculum Of American Education Essay
Malala Yousafzai, Bill Gates, Michelle Obama, and Emma Watson. What do all of these people have
in common? Besides being people that I personally look up to, these are all activists for education
around the world. As someone who has been fortunate enough to have gone through school in such an
excellent district, I have seen the impact that an excellent education can have on a child. This is why I
firmly believe that education is the strongest asset that any generation can have to succeed.
In recent years, the United States has fallen behind other countries in education. While we might not
be seeing the immediate effects right now, but unless we make education more accessible and
comparable to other countries curriculum, Americans will fall behind in the global market. It is
imperative that the curriculum of American schools is reevaluated in order to help future generations
have the assets required of them in our globalized world.

In most other countries, children begin learning a second language very early in their schooling. Most
American schools, however, do not begin foreign language instruction until middle or high school. It
is clear to see the detrimental effects of this. If you ask anyone who took a foreign language class in
high school, chances are that they have retained none of it, unless they continued to study it in college.
This is because by the teenage years, it is much harder for the human brain to learn a second language.
If more schools began teaching a second language in elementary schools, it is more likely that students
will retain more language skills. As a result, more individuals will have the language skills required in
this global market to succeed with international relations and

Compare The Validation And Verification Methods For The...
There are various methods you can use to validate the reliability of the information. The information
will only be reliable if the information is being received from a dependable source. The accuracy of
the information and the relevance of it should also be up for consideration. There can be many ways of
errors occurring in the information from human error when inputting it to the source material being
incorrect or inaccurate. The two main techniques used to test the reliability of the information are the
validation and verification methods. The verification method involves checking that the data entered

The validation methods comprise of making sure that the data entered makes sense and is reasonable.
There are various forms of validation from checking the format to the range etc. There are five key
checks that are used when validating the information: format check, length check, presence check,
range check and spell check. The format check would be checking if the data is in a correct format, for
example a pin number should have four numbers and therefore it should not contain any letters etc.
The check would bring this to the attention of the user if the wrong format was being used. Length
check is the check used in order to see if the data is either too long or too short. For example if the pin
number is four numbers long then the length check will examine the data to make sure that it is the
correct length and in that case it would be four characters long. The presence check is to examine
whether data has been inputted into a field as some fields may require data entry. In a lot of databases
it is required for data to be entered into certain fields and if not then this may cause problems to the

Increasing Cross Functional Planning For Success
Increasing Cross Functional Planning for Success
The education industry is ripe for disruption. Private equity funding is surging into the education
market (Bryant Sarakatsannis, 2015). In order for a large multinational education company to both
disrupt itself, and fend off disruptive technologies within the education market, the company must
increase the leadership teams abilities to collaboratively plan and adjust to market changes. The
company has used agile development practices for many years, and began strategic planning in an
agile fashion for the technology divisions. To be able to respond to disruptive market forces, the
company should embrace strategic agile planning across their traditional publishing arm as it merges
with technology development (Parker, 2012). This proposal for senior leadership includes an overview
of the organization with a discussion on current challenges in cross functional strategic planning, and
operational execution, given the current business and internal climate, an overview of four leadership
theories which provide specific perspectives in helping senior leadership in solving cross functional
planning challenges, with a recommended action plan aligned with the organization mission, vision,
ethics and globally diverse workforce.
The large education company is similar to other large multinationals in serving markets in both the
developed and developing world. Global demographic shifts point to increased K 20 aged people in

Mise En Scene In Psycho
From the quote, we are able to see that all , if not most , of Hitchcock s films seek to play with the
viewer s emotions, often by leaving crumbs of suspense before the action, making the viewers go
through a myriad of emotions. Hence, for Psycho, I will be discussing three scenes where Hitchcock
has deliberately and precisely controlled via the film medium, to engage us. Argobhast and Norman s
conversation scene. In this scene, we see Argobhast s journey towards finding out the true reason of
Marion s disappearance and hence, Hitchcock plays us via Norman and Argobhast s first interaction.
Initially, the scene opens up on a light note, with Norman seen reading and eating candy and as the
non diegetic ominous sound slowly disappearing, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Upon entering the parlor, Hitchcock has set the stage for the viewer to use Marion as a vehicle to
determine how Norman is like. The POV shot of Marion studying the room first brings out attention to
a stuffed Owl and a stuffed crow, the first indicator to the viewer that something is not right, making
us feel suspicious already. Marion then takes the seat closer to the tiffany lamp while Norman takes
the seat at the opposite side of the room which is noticeably darker. Mise en scence in this scene does
the most to capture the true personalities of the characters. For Marion, Hitchcock has deliberately
surrounded her with objects such as the lamp which is actually the only source of light for the whole
room, a pitcher of milk and several other scenic objects. Furthermore, the milk may perhaps
symbolize innocence that despite the crime committed, there is a redeeming quality within Marion that
will save her. As Marion sits closest to the lamp, her face remains brightly lit up and similarly casting
the same effect towards the objects around her. The viewer upon seeing Marion, unconsciously feels at
ease within her presence, perhaps even forgetting that Marion is no

The Help Accuracy
The movie The Help shows the lifestyle of black women in Jackson, Mississippi in the early 1960 s. A
young adult named Skeeter who wished to become a journalist gathers maids to write about their
testimonies as black maids, which at first refused because of the fear of getting caught yet later agree.
The setting of the movie is historically inaccurate because it didn t go into detail about the civil rights
movement and all the things that occurred during this time, which was an important time in history. As
well as the Jim Crow Laws, the movie also never spoke about what white people would do to those
who were colored for example beating them to death. The civil right movement was an attempt to
eliminate segregation and gain equal rights. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Medgar was the target of many threats. He was murdered June 12 1963 by Byron De La Beckwith,
who was a member of the Ku Klux Klan, a couple hours after president Kennedy s speech on the
support of the civil rights movement (NAACP). In the movie the maids and everyone in Jackson were
in fear. In actuality the black community including maids participated in marches and protests towards
the justice of MedgaEvers (Truthout). The movie is also accurate because it includes the relationship
between Minny and Celia which demonstrates that not every white person was against blacks in
reality there was also whites who joined blacks in strikes to fight for civil rights. The bond between
them is what sends the message of not all whites disliking blacks because Celia, aside from Skeeter, is
the only female the treats the her maid as her close friend. An assumption of the film is that the
character Skeeter is suppose to resemble the author, Kathryn Stockett, by adding parts of her life into
Skeeter s character. Another common thing is that in the film Skeeter has trouble trying to collect a
story that is worth publishing while Stockett had trouble publishing the book and received sixty
rejections before publishing the book. According to abc news, the inspiration of story behind The Help
Stockett said in an interview was by a maid that her grandmother had that used to make her special
and important. Contrasting both to their lives Skeeter also had a special bond to the maid, Constantine,
her family had and had much love for

The Long Profile Of A River
Introduction
In this investigation, I will be investigating the changes along the long profile of a river. In order to do
this, I will be collecting data and making observations at three different points along the river; the
upper course, the middle course, and the lower course.
The river which I will be conducting my observations would be on Bartley Water. Bartley Water is a
river going through the New Forest which is located in the south of the UK, Hampshire. The source of
the river begins from Bartley, 109m above sea level, and joins to its end at Eling, flowing into
Southampton Water. The river has a length of 27km and a catchment area of 40sqkm. It is a tributary
of the River Test. The river bed contains of a mixture of sand, silt and clay which can change as the
river behaves due to erosion, transportation and deposition.
The sites which I will be investigating on are:
Site one is at Buskett s Lawn, grid reference: 309109
Site two is at Woodlands, grid reference: 325006
Site three is at Eling, grid reference: 362124
The surroundings of these areas differ at each site. Site one is mostly rural areas whereas, when it
moves onto the last site, it becomes an urban area. These will affect on the course and direction of the
river and its characteristics.
The long profile of a river describes how the characteristics of the river vary from the upper course to
the lower course. A quicker and easier way to present this idea is through a Bradshaw Model (see the

the importance of caring for the victim during a collection of evidence rather than committing a

had a recent change I turned 18 and got thrown to the wolfs. I had to start taking responsibility for
myself and paying my own bills. Things in my life changed and they changed quite fast.
Last December, I had gotten my license and bought my first car. Until graduation I would pay for half
of my car insurance. The month I turned 18 I already had a job set for me which I was very thankful
for. But while I was finishing up my last few months of high school it got very hard for me to balance
school and work and my internship for me to graduate. With me having to work almost 90 hours a
month, on top of having to get 120 hours of internship work done in at the hospital on top of all my
other school work it was very draining. My Grandma gave me until graduation to save money and she
made sure I knew that she was done paying my phone bill and my car insurance. Once I graduated
things started to get easier and started to get back in to the swing of my life again. For an 18 year old
$200 car instance bill is a big bill especially when your check isn t that much every month, plus a $60
phone bill, and gas and whatever things I need to get around the house.
This experience became my permanent white water because I know a few months ago I would
complain about the

My head spun back in time . I was just getting off the bus and rushing inside , It was September 28th
my birthday . There was a box on the counter . It was small and rectangular , It said something on the
side, iphone! I rushed up stairs with a smile stretched across my face . I had gotten my first phone. But
that memory slowly slipped away I looked down to see I didn t have anything in my hand . But I just
did , where did my phone go ? I heard Crack,Crunch slam ! I saw my phone slowly fall over each and
every stair , I could hear the quiet crack of the smooth glass scratching the ground . And the thud of
my feet rushing to the broken phone. I reached down to grab it but it slipped right of my fingertips and
kept descending it was like there was something you kept trying to get but someone just keep taking it
away . I could hear Alyssa say ¨ What happened.¨ ¨Nothing.¨ I denied . With a tear rolling down my
face . I gradually picked up my broken phone and started to call my dad . I started to explain what had
happened . All my dad said was ¨ It will be ok.¨ In that moment I realized that no matter what happens
everything will be ok. I started to murmur ¨everything will be ok.¨ In the end I had concluded that no
matter what life brings you everything will be ok. Everything will always be ok. No matter what

is the Nigerian government body responsible for mobile financial services regulation on the mobile
operators side, while the Central Bank of Nigerian has been given the authority to issue mobile
financial services licenses, which means they are the only government body legally authorised to issue
mobile money operator (MMO) licences in Nigeria. Last week s progress: After multiple attempts, I
succeeded in making contact with the Special Assistant to the Executive Vice Chairman of the
Nigerian Communications commission, Mr Edoyemi Ogoh. However, he seemed quite busy, and
could not give me much time, but we were able to have a brief discussion on the factors, from the
regulatory point of view, impacting the growth of mobile money in Nigeria. He was of the opinion that
the bank led model for providing mobile financial services in Nigeria, as opposed to the operator led

John Pitney s Steel Pier History
The Showplace of the Nation! and The Pier: A Legacy of Fun and Entertainment for the Entire Family
have been a few of the glowing terms used to describe the amusement park, Steel Pier, located
Atlantic City, NJ. The Pier first opened it s now legendary fun and entertainment venue in June of
1898 and soon become one of the most famously known theme parks and attractions in America,
entertaining tens of thousands of visitors daily. Sprawling 1,600 feet into the ocean, The Pier was
constructed from wood and steel. With a little stretch of the imagination, one may well yet hear the
sunbleached boards creak and groan beneath the footsteps of enraptured crowds while the sounds of
seagulls pierced the rolling ocean waves melodies. Throughout the decades of operation, The Pier
earned a nostalgic place in memory for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

amusement park, with the belief that the location could be a successful entertainment destination.
George Hamid of Buffalo Bill s Circus, joined forces with Pitney to ramp up customer crowds at The
Pier and added a special blend of circus entertainment! Oh yes, make no doubt, history was made in
the name of Steel Pier! The Pier attracted many acting icons throughout the decades of the 1920 s into
the 1960 s. Through the portal from everyday life into hours of entertainment, came acting legends
and unbelievable entertainers to include, if you can believe it, The Beatles, Marilyn Monroe, George
Burns, Dean Martin, Milton Berle, George Burns, Three Stooges, old blue eyes Frank Sinatra, Mae
West, Abbott and Costello, Dick Clark, Paul Anka, Annette Funicello, Guy Lombardo, Benny

Patient Dissatisfaction Of Piv Catheter Replacements
Introduction
In a local San Diego County hospital, on a 28 bed progressive care unit specializing in cardiac
telemetry, the current protocol for replacing peripherally inserted intravenous catheter is every 72
hours or less if clinically indicated. The average daily census of patients on the unit is roughly 23
patients with an increase of 5% during the winter months. There are nearly 50,000 patients admitted
annually to this unit with 47,670 discharged home. The hospital is located in Serra Mesa and serves
the residents of this region as well as the surrounding area with a mean age of the patient being 52.
The patients seeking care are mostly English or Spanish speaking, but represent a wide variety of
cultures. The RNs on this unit are working with patients in a 4:1 ratio leading to a fast paced workflow
and heavy workload for the nurses.
Staff nurses on the unit expressed their frustration with the current practice regarding the frequency of
PIV catheter replacements, stating that it was time consuming and contributed to patient
dissatisfaction. The process of replacing a PIV can often be time consuming and may take multiple
attempts in order to successfully insert a new PIV. Research supports a change in practice that address
these concerns. A pilot study performed in 2012, by Rickard, Webster, Wallis, Marsh, McGrail, French
and Whitby indicated that replacing PIV catheters only when clinically indicated did not lead to
catheter related complications, as previously

The Role Of Bullying In The United States Department Of...
The Department of Education exists to create equal opportunities for all its students. However, with
the increase in bullying rates, the U.S education system fails to make it clear that bullying is
intolerable. Bullying s harmful impact on students well being has been studied and continues to be
researched. The U.S Department of Health Human Services defines bullying as the unwanted
aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance
(2014). Bullies can be identified as people who use their power to manipulate or inflict unnecessary
pain on others. In the U.S, bullying rates in secondary school are still on the rise. According to the

Historical Context Of Mice And Men
Historical Context: Of Mice and Men was written and took place in the heat of the Great Depression.
Five years before Steinbeck composed his novella, unemployment ... had reached 24.% (Taylor 2).
This explains the economic state of George and the rest of the farm hands, poverty stricken and
jumping from job to job. Major Characters George: George is a small and quick man from Soledad,
California, a modest town south of San Jose and west of Fresno. He jumps from ranch to ranch,
working odd jobs in hopes of one day owning a few acres of his own. He has taken care of Lennie
since he was fairly young; there aren t many guys who travel around together. He cares for Lennie
deeply and is quite devoted, and through everything that Lennie has done ... Show more content on

His extreme simplicity, in both mind and character, are the focal point of the novella. He was raised by
his Aunt Clara, and once she died, George took care of him. They move from ranch to ranch as Lennie
gets them kicked out. He never means to cause trouble with his immense strength; Lennie likes to pet
soft things and wants to take care of rabbits on a farm he owns with George. Quote 1 Quote: He s nuts,
Slim. He never done this to be mean (Steinbeck 97). Explanation: Lennie loves George, and lives to
please him. He just can t help it when he does something wrong. He accidently killed his own puppy
when playing with it. He kills mice all the time by petting them too hard. The final straw was when he
broke Curley s wife s neck. He had been stroking her hair overly firmly when she began to scream. He
didn t want to get into trouble with George, so he covered her mouth and nose. She started struggling;
he jerked her still, snapping her neck. Lennie is loving and kind, he just doesn t know his own
strength. Quote 2 Quote: He s gonna beat the hell outa you with a stick, that s what he s gonna do.
Now Lennie retorted belligerently, He ain t neither. George won t do nothing like that. I ve known
George since I forget when and he ain t never raised his han to me with a

Doughnut Book Report
The book When you give a Dog a Doughnut was really just about a dog that wanted everything and
anything. Not only was it an okay book, but now I have an experience that will last a lifetime. As you
may know, our class project was to to find a book that had some type of food in it and then find a
recipe in order to cook it. You may be able to guess what we made just by reading the title of our
book, which made it an easy assignment for people like us.
The first step of the whole process was finding a recipe that would be able to be done in class on our
early release schedule. Kaitlin and I were not having the best of luck finding a recipe because most of
them wanted us to wait for the dough to rise, which takes a good chunk of time. Kaitlin may have not
been the best person to pick for this project because since we are close friends, we can get distracted
easily. From what I remember, it was taking too much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kaitlin had pretty much all of the ingredients at her house so she just told me what we needed and I
was in charge of that. Knowing me, I like to procrastinate a lot because I was supposed to go after
work with Kaitlin later that night, but I was too tired to go. Instead I waited until the day of to go and
get the ingredients. If it wasn t for my second block senior release we would have been screwed, but
as soon as the bell rang I left the school and went on my way to Walmart. That s what I thought I was
going to do until I decided to go home for a quick snooze because I had all of second block and lunch.
Once I awoke from my nap, I headed to Walmart to find the rest of the ingredients that we needed.
There was no problem getting to Walmart or finding our ingredients, the issue was that I slept for too
long and was almost late for school on the way back. Other than that all of our ingredients were
brought to the school in order to make our Super Easy

The Invention Of The 20th Century
Throughout history sculpture has played an important role in people s lives, thus its substances have
changed and haven been shaped by the human hand so as to serve various purposes. In the earliest
stages, sculpture has been identified with statues which represented gods, and later on evolved into
portraits of ancient kings in order to make them immortal and show their importance. Even though
sculpture and its concepts changed throughout history, the first drastic changes didn t occur until early
in the twentieth century, when exploratory international artists began to derive their inspirations from
Cubism and translated collages intro three dimensional objects. Furthermore, over the past century
sculpture has gone through many drastic changes according to the political, socio economical situation
as well as the process of modernization. Thus, from being a figurative concept, sculpture evolved into
abstraction, yet it never lost the power to coerce and move us in a certain way. Heide Fasnacht and
Walter Zimmerman are both sculptors of the 20th century dealing with metaphors and a deep
psychological narrative; however, both use different approaches in conveying their messages and go
through diverse thought processes before creating their sculptures.
Heide Fasnacht is quite an upbeat artist dealing with individual imagination whose themes are mostly
buildings, streets, fireworks and explosions. Her aesthetics are generally derived from the art of the
70s, where the focus was

A Experiment On Separation And Purification Methods
This experiment introduces separation and purification methods used in research quite frequently.
These methods include hot vacuum filtration and recrystallization to purify a crude sample of
acetanilide containing two impurities. Recrystallization is a very common method that is used to
purify solids. This process dissolves a crude solid with impurities in a mildly boiling solvent, and
cooling down the mixture afterwards for crystals to reconstruct themselves in solution. This method
allows impurities to separate and remain in solution as precipitate or remain uniform in solution.
Solids are more soluble in hot solvents than in cold ones, allowing maximum dissolution for proper
separation and subsequent crystallization to occur. After purifying the compound, the melting point is
determined using the Mel Temp technology to compare to the written melting point to see how pure
the sample truly is. The proper steps of recrystallization include selecting a solvent that fits the
characteristic of all the components, water in this experiment. Then, dissolving a crude sample in the
chosen solvent (at or close to the solvent boiling point), forming solid in the solution as cooling takes
place, using vacuum filtration to isolate the purified solid, ridding the crystals of all impurities through
drying. In this experiment, recrystallization allows purification of 150 mg of crude acetanilide. Hot
vacuum filtration is a process used. The process requires using a filter flask, Pasteur

Thesis Can we envision the street art, which was created illegally, to be protected by the law itself? I would like to open a discussion about the lawful preservation of street art, specifically the uncommissioned art that is made illegally by the artists, because it rose to the level of cultural and historical significance, evidenced by the heightened interest in street art by the professional art dealers and museum curators, as well as, the general public. I will focus predominantly on Banksy, an anonymous British artist, because he is a vivid example of a successful and globally recognized street artist. First, I will provide background information about Banksy; street art opposed to graffiti; and Banksy s cultural significance. Next, I will write about the contemporary legal status of the street art; the policy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Ronald Knox s Commandments In Detective Fiction Ronald Knox s commandments for detective fiction ultimately function as a guide for what he believes constitutes a fair and satisfying instance of the genre, each charge serving to avoid a non fulfilling resolution for the reader. Knox s rules in combination work to this end and the ambitions of this essay are to explore works from Poe and Christie in relation to these commandments. Poe, considered the instigator of the detective fiction genre through the Dupin tales penned and published works that would assist in defining its conventions, providing a prototype for future authors. Christie was a beneficiary of these earlier works and attempted to modernize the pre established conventions of detective fiction , in an era in which the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dupin succeeds in making the impossible, possible, however the revelation of a previously unmentioned animal killer still brings about a feeling of less than complete satisfaction. Contributing to this feeling is Dupin s concealment of clues from the reader, with the presence of tawny hair not made present in the story until after the indictment of the Ourang Outang to which it belonged. Both of these factors hold some blame in producing a conclusion that could be considered less than fulfilling. Conversely in Christie s Murder on the Orient Express the authors use of a locked room scenario ensures the reader has some chance of identifying the killer whilst a web of false identities and alibis create difficulty for any reader attempting to solve the puzzle. Christie also provides any and all evidences used in the final conclusion to be available to the reader as immediately as they are to the detective. Murder on the Orient Express is set up for a shocking and satisfying conclusion from its first pages, with all the elements of the solution found woven into the text before the grand reveal. He was king of Macedonia, a military genius, and the greatest conqueror of all time to name a few. Alexander was taught by many great minds, perhaps most responsible for his greatness was Aristotle. Alexander was given many hard tasks and tremendous responsibilities as a child and teen, which he carried out with ease. As an adult king, Alexander ruled over Macedonia and kept it safe from invasion and rebellion. He then sought to conquer as much of the world as possible. When Alexander was about 30, a feat in itself, he ruled over the biggest empire in the history of the world (this record still stands today). Alexander the great died in June 323 B.C. with mysterious causes of death that are still argued today. He died as the greatest conqueror of all time and an inspiration to many. • 7. How I Started Playing Baseball Essay Narrative essay I started playing baseball in my high school year. As a matter a fact, I struggled in my high school baseball team because my teammates, who already had been playing baseball since they were in kindergarten or elementary school, were better than I. However, in the middle way of junior year, I made the varsity baseball team. I was glad and quite honored that I made the varsity team. However, my happiness would soon be depleted. Although I was on the team, I spent most of my time on the bench. I tried to find a baseball technique that I could take advantage over other players. When I tried to find some skill frantically, I found out that bunting is one of my key factors to be a starting member. I practiced bunting all day long even if people told me that bunting is a drab and an unattractive strategy. Although I spent most of the varsity game on the bench, there were few times I had to go up for bunting. Eventually, I successfully laid a bunt most of the time. At the end of junior year, I was a starting member of the varsity team. After I got myself to be a starting member, I stopped practicing bunting because I enjoyed hitting base hit and home run. However, in the final game of my high school year, it paid me a prize. In my senior year, it had been the unbelievable season for me, my team and I went into a CIF final. My teammates and I were cheered and excited to be in the final. Besides, my high school stats were pretty decent. I had confidence with my stats ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In addition to the actual state of the restaurant the figure head of a fast food industry must also capture the minds of potential consumer via a seemingly moronic yet intelligent and sentient being. A perfect example of this would be the clown from McDonald s, his bizarre and inhuman looks capturing the visual attention of the consumer while the mild mannered psychotic behavior both tantalizes us and fills us with fear of the consequences of not consuming the double cheese burger. Another prime example would be the burger king (view a commercial with the king and all of this will make perfect sense) and his disturbing imagery and behavior, simply appearing at your bed side offering flame broiled delights always with a exceedingly morbid and paralyzing smile suggesting that the burgers are poisoned and that one will die as a result of eating them (of course the commercial never shows the fate of the kings victim). In retrospect while it may appear that the gimmicks themselves do not actually draw the consumer in the imagery mixed with their events taking place seem to have captured and reeled in the consumers mind and thus achieved the companies goal. The economic way is the only way: since the beginning of the fast food industry there has always been one simplistic train of thought, yes its good but how do we make money ... A famous lawyer named Henry Drummond defends him; while a fundamentalist politician Matthew Harrison Brady prosecutes. The story takes place in Hillsboro, which is a small town in Tennessee. Brady is no expert on the Bible and that is made abundantly clear during the trial. He is wise enough to recall major key elements, and has also committed many Biblical passages to memory. However, he is naïve and poorly versed on the literal translation of some controversial facets of the Bible, which in turn destroy his credibility during cross examination by Drummond when he takes the stand. He is viewed as unchristian and toxic by the locals. Both Drummond and Cates experience a struggle against mainstream society. Besides being people that I personally look up to, these are all activists for education around the world. As someone who has been fortunate enough to have gone through school in such an excellent district, I have seen the impact that an excellent education can have on a child. This is why I firmly believe that education is the strongest asset that any generation can have to succeed. In recent years, the United States has fallen behind other countries in education. While we might not be seeing the immediate effects right now, but unless we make education more accessible and comparable to other countries curriculum, Americans will fall behind in the global market. This is because by the teenage years, it is much harder for the human brain to learn a second language. Private equity funding is surging into the education market (Bryant Sarakatsannis, 2015). In order for a large multinational education company to both disrupt itself, and fend off disruptive technologies within the education market, the company must increase the leadership teams abilities to collaboratively plan and adjust to market changes. The company has used agile development practices for many years, and began strategic planning in an agile fashion for the technology divisions. To be able to respond to disruptive market forces, the company should embrace strategic agile planning across their traditional publishing arm as it merges with technology development (Parker, 2012). This proposal for senior leadership includes an overview of the organization with a discussion on current challenges in cross functional strategic planning, and operational execution, given the current business and internal climate, an overview of four leadership theories which provide specific perspectives in helping senior leadership in solving cross functional planning challenges, with a recommended action plan aligned with the organization mission, vision, ethics and globally diverse workforce. Marion then takes the seat closer to the tiffany lamp while Norman takes the seat at the opposite side of the room which is noticeably darker. Mise en scence in this scene does the most to capture the true personalities of the characters. For Marion, Hitchcock has deliberately surrounded her with objects such as the lamp which is actually the only source of light for the whole room, a pitcher of milk and several other scenic objects. Furthermore, the milk may perhaps symbolize innocence that despite the crime committed, there is a redeeming quality within Marion that will save her. As Marion sits closest to the lamp, her face remains brightly lit up and similarly casting the same effect towards the objects around her. The viewer upon seeing Marion, unconsciously feels at ease within her presence, perhaps even forgetting that Marion is no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. The Help Accuracy The movie The Help shows the lifestyle of black women in Jackson, Mississippi in the early 1960 s. A young adult named Skeeter who wished to become a journalist gathers maids to write about their testimonies as black maids, which at first refused because of the fear of getting caught yet later agree. The setting of the movie is historically inaccurate because it didn t go into detail about the civil rights movement and all the things that occurred during this time, which was an important time in history. As well as the Jim Crow Laws, the movie also never spoke about what white people would do to those who were colored for example beating them to death. The civil right movement was an attempt to eliminate segregation and gain equal rights. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Medgar was the target of many threats. He was murdered June 12 1963 by Byron De La Beckwith, who was a member of the Ku Klux Klan, a couple hours after president Kennedy s speech on the support of the civil rights movement (NAACP). In the movie the maids and everyone in Jackson were in fear. In actuality the black community including maids participated in marches and protests towards the justice of MedgaEvers (Truthout). The movie is also accurate because it includes the relationship between Minny and Celia which demonstrates that not every white person was against blacks in reality there was also whites who joined blacks in strikes to fight for civil rights. The bond between them is what sends the message of not all whites disliking blacks because Celia, aside from Skeeter, is the only female the treats the her maid as her close friend. An assumption of the film is that the character Skeeter is suppose to resemble the author, Kathryn Stockett, by adding parts of her life into Skeeter s character. Another common thing is that in the film Skeeter has trouble trying to collect a story that is worth publishing while Stockett had trouble publishing the book and received sixty rejections before publishing the book. According to abc news, the inspiration of story behind The Help Stockett said in an interview was by a maid that her grandmother had that used to make her special and important. Contrasting both to their lives Skeeter also had a special bond to the maid, Constantine, her family had and had much love for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In order to do this, I will be collecting data and making observations at three different points along the river; the upper course, the middle course, and the lower course. The river which I will be conducting my observations would be on Bartley Water. Bartley Water is a river going through the New Forest which is located in the south of the UK, Hampshire. The source of the river begins from Bartley, 109m above sea level, and joins to its end at Eling, flowing into Southampton Water. The river has a length of 27km and a catchment area of 40sqkm. It is a tributary of the River Test. The river bed contains of a mixture of sand, silt and clay which can change as the river behaves due to erosion, transportation and deposition. The sites which I will be investigating on are: Site one is at Buskett s Lawn, grid reference: 309109 Site two is at Woodlands, grid reference: 325006 Site three is at Eling, grid reference: 362124 The surroundings of these areas differ at each site. Site one is mostly rural areas whereas, when it moves onto the last site, it becomes an urban area. These will affect on the course and direction of the river and its characteristics. The long profile of a river describes how the characteristics of the river vary from the upper course to the lower course. As an anthropology professor at Marquette University, Semeena Mulla has the qualifications to discuss forensics, but she connects her background to the cases of sexual assault victims. Mulla investigates the methods nurses use to collect and preserve evidence while simultaneously discussing the role of assault victims as patients; she argues that incorporating care and forensic investigation with one another allows victims to understand their own situations. Another point the author makes is the importance of caring for the victim during a collection of evidence rather than committing a secondary rape. Mulla explains the importance of care in terms of medicine and forensics, a different approach than my other sources. Still, her explanation of the victim s role as an active member of the medical, investigative, and forensic processes provides refreshing insight on making the victim feel represented. • 21. Persuasive Essay About Becoming An Adult Responsibility Becoming an adult is a major responsibility for most people. One that can change your life sometimes for the good, but can also make your life hard for the time being as well. For the past few months, I had a recent change I turned 18 and got thrown to the wolfs. I had to start taking responsibility for myself and paying my own bills. Things in my life changed and they changed quite fast. Last December, I had gotten my license and bought my first car. Until graduation I would pay for half of my car insurance. The month I turned 18 I already had a job set for me which I was very thankful for. But while I was finishing up my last few months of high school it got very hard for me to balance school and work and my internship for me to graduate. With me having to work almost 90 hours a month, on top of having to get 120 hours of internship work done in at the hospital on top of all my other school work it was very draining. My Grandma gave me until graduation to save money and she made sure I knew that she was done paying my phone bill and my car insurance. Once I graduated things started to get easier and started to get back in to the swing of my life again. For an 18 year old $200 car instance bill is a big bill especially when your check isn t that much every month, plus a $60 phone bill, and gas and whatever things I need to get around the house. This experience became my permanent white water because I know a few months ago I would complain about the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Patient Dissatisfaction Of Piv Catheter Replacements Introduction In a local San Diego County hospital, on a 28 bed progressive care unit specializing in cardiac telemetry, the current protocol for replacing peripherally inserted intravenous catheter is every 72 hours or less if clinically indicated. The average daily census of patients on the unit is roughly 23 patients with an increase of 5% during the winter months. There are nearly 50,000 patients admitted annually to this unit with 47,670 discharged home. The hospital is located in Serra Mesa and serves the residents of this region as well as the surrounding area with a mean age of the patient being 52. The patients seeking care are mostly English or Spanish speaking, but represent a wide variety of cultures. The RNs on this unit are working with patients in a 4:1 ratio leading to a fast paced workflow and heavy workload for the nurses. Staff nurses on the unit expressed their frustration with the current practice regarding the frequency of PIV catheter replacements, stating that it was time consuming and contributed to patient dissatisfaction. The process of replacing a PIV can often be time consuming and may take multiple attempts in order to successfully insert a new PIV. Research supports a change in practice that address these concerns. A pilot study performed in 2012, by Rickard, Webster, Wallis, Marsh, McGrail, French and Whitby indicated that replacing PIV catheters only when clinically indicated did not lead to catheter related complications, as previously ... • 29. The Invention Of The 20th Century Throughout history sculpture has played an important role in people s lives, thus its substances have changed and haven been shaped by the human hand so as to serve various purposes. In the earliest stages, sculpture has been identified with statues which represented gods, and later on evolved into portraits of ancient kings in order to make them immortal and show their importance. Even though sculpture and its concepts changed throughout history, the first drastic changes didn t occur until early in the twentieth century, when exploratory international artists began to derive their inspirations from Cubism and translated collages intro three dimensional objects. Furthermore, over the past century sculpture has gone through many drastic changes according to the political, socio economical situation as well as the process of modernization. Thus, from being a figurative concept, sculpture evolved into abstraction, yet it never lost the power to coerce and move us in a certain way. Heide Fasnacht and Walter Zimmerman are both sculptors of the 20th century dealing with metaphors and a deep psychological narrative; however, both use different approaches in conveying their messages and go through diverse thought processes before creating their sculptures. • 30. A Experiment On Separation And Purification Methods This experiment introduces separation and purification methods used in research quite frequently. These methods include hot vacuum filtration and recrystallization to purify a crude sample of acetanilide containing two impurities. Recrystallization is a very common method that is used to purify solids. This process dissolves a crude solid with impurities in a mildly boiling solvent, and cooling down the mixture afterwards for crystals to reconstruct themselves in solution. This method allows impurities to separate and remain in solution as precipitate or remain uniform in solution. Solids are more soluble in hot solvents than in cold ones, allowing maximum dissolution for proper separation and subsequent crystallization to occur. After purifying the compound, the melting point is determined using the Mel Temp technology to compare to the written melting point to see how pure the sample truly is. The proper steps of recrystallization include selecting a solvent that fits the characteristic of all the components, water in this experiment. Then, dissolving a crude sample in the chosen solvent (at or close to the solvent boiling point), forming solid in the solution as cooling takes place, using vacuum filtration to isolate the purified solid, ridding the crystals of all impurities through drying. In this experiment, recrystallization allows purification of 150 mg of crude acetanilide. Hot vacuum filtration is a process used. The process requires using a filter flask, Pasteur ...
