To top it off they blind fold all of the boys just to make it more amusing. They humiliate the boys by
making them watch a nude woman dance before the fight. And then they force them to pick up fake
coins off of an electrified rug. Shocking them and getting enjoyment from their pain. This is a very
racist story. But unfortunately it truly reflects on how these individuals were treated during this time.
The big shots only want to be controlling racists, and get enjoyment from this. They will not accept
any behavior from the African Americans except submission. The idea of social equality between
them and the African Americans is quite appalling for them (p.297). They are strictly set against this
and will probably do what ever it takes to prevent this from happening. I liked the ambition of Ralph,
his determination to make sure that he is heard. He really feels as though his speech will make a huge
impact for his people in his community. He is trying to become accepted into a society that does not

Johnny Depp, is one of the most talented physical actors of this age. His unique and often wacky
movements make each of his characters stand out. Most famous for his role as the ridiculous pirate
captain Jack Sparrow, form Pirates of the Caribbean, Depp is also widely known for a number of other
interesting characters in a number of other interesting shows, one of his earliest being Edward
Scissorhands, in Edward Scissorhands (1990). The expansion of Depp s use of physical movement is
tremendous between Edward Scissor hands ad Pirates of the Caribbean. And though they both differ
tremendously in personality and physicality, they still maintain the wacky persona that is so
characteristic of Johnny Depp. First let us analyze whether or not Depp centers each character. And
the answer is that he centers both, but each differently. Edward Scissorhands is very centered, but
definitely not comfortably centered. Although he stands erect, he stands with his head pulled back and
his back very stiff, and his adds to the bizarreness of his strange character. Who stands like that? No
one. It is interesting how just a little abnormality in posture can bring out abnormality in the entire
character. Additionally, the way that Depp centers Edward Scissorhands, with his head constantly
either pull back too far jutted forward in moments of interest add to the emotions of curiosity and
apprehension that are so strong in this character. Depp s second character, the famous Jack Sparrow, is
