The reason that I have chosen the top font is because I think
that it is bold and stands out which I think would work well
on my poster and dvd cover and in the trailer. The second
one is a bold font but smaller which could potentially fit the
poster design well. The third one is more of a old style font
which could potentially go to make it look like its set in old
times. The fourth font is a font that I think will fit into the
poster as it more of a skinny style but bold and would work
well with the casting list on the poster. The fifth font is one
that I think will look good on logo design for the production
company's. the 7th is a font design that’s large and dark as
well as bold this would work well as a title. The 8th font is a
classic style of font that would also be an adoption to use
when making the dvd cover for the different names on the
back of the box. The 9th and 10th font are relatively the same
but one is smaller and less bold and both of them are
possible options that could be used in the poster and dvd
cover at different parts. The 11th font in this is more of a
slanted neat font that I think would work well for the
synopsis of the film on the back of the dvd cover. The 12th
font is more of a close together use and is dark bold which is
perfect for a horror and I another possible option for the
title. The 14th font is a neat old Shakespeare type of hand
writing this could be used to enthuses the synopsis. The 15th
font is a crazy one that I do not wish to use on my project.
The first colour that I have chosen is a darkish red, in this one I am taking inspiration form the shining as it has red around which is imagery
of blood and violence. I think that dark red is a good choice to use because it best describes the type of scenes that will be in the film in the
blood perspective. The second colour that I have chosen is green the reason for this is because I think that it stands out and would look
good as a boarder around the poster possibly. The third colour that I chose was orange the reason for this is because its bright and eye
catching and would stand out on a poster, its also not a common colour used in horrors or thrillers and this means tat this could be an
option in order to stand out and grab attention. The fourth colour that I chose I plain white and this colour will be in all of the products that
I make as its basis of colours and shows plainness but also helps other colours stand out, I will include this on the logos for the company's
and the poster as well as dvd cover it will also be on the trailer. The fifth colour that I have chosen is light blue the reason that I have chosen
light blue is because its not what would usually be seen on a horror film and I think this is good because it stands out and separates it from
other existing products however I am not sure as of yet as to where about I would fit this in but I am thinking somewhere on the poster or
the dvd cover somewhere possibly to represent the sky. The sixth colour I have chosen is purple the reason for this is also because its dark
but also light and I think the contrast could possibly work but I do not believe that this colour is good for my work and although I might use
it, I do not think that it will work as well as the others. The seventh colour is black because its dark and everything stands out on it but also
because it’s the one that all horror film posters pretty much has and best describes if the film is or isn't going to be dark dependent on how
much of the poster and film has dark In it. The eight colour that I have chosen is dark blue because it symbolises darkness with some colour
and I think this is definitely a colour that I want to appear in my poster for the film. The ninth colour is another version of dark blue but has
light in the middle and standing out and this is something that I think would suit the dvd cover along with the tenth colour which is black
with light in the middle this shows that the film would not all be dark and symbolise that there's some good I it I would use this on my
poster and dvd cover. These colours will at some point appear in my trailer for the film.
The reason that I have chosen the Thor poster
as my image style example is because of the
way that everything on it is set out and the
way that it looks when it comes together. The
title on this poster is spaced out to spell the
name of the film and under each name is a
character from the film and at the front of
them all is Thor who is the title of the film and
also the main character in the film. The title is
red symbolizing color and possible blood but
also it matches the cape that he s wearing at
the front making both stand out stating the
he is a superhero and he stands out. In this
poster he is surround by some and clouds this
means that there can be deceit in the movie
as someone would be hiding something
symbolizing that the answers are clouded and
trying to hide something from Thor the main
character as he is in front of the fog and the
light that is glowing from the hammer Is
symbolizing that thor is trying to shine
through and clear away the hidden secrets in
the movie or symbolizing that Thor hammer is
the key to finding out the mystery's that are
hidden.
This poster is from the thor film
and I want to take inspiration
from the poster and put it into my
final projects as I like the concept
of how it works and fits to gather
as well as the symbolic parts of
the poster ad how it refers to the
film.

Project
The idea for this is a poster for my horror film trailer by using different things from my style
sheet and I have come up with this mock up of a potential design for my final project poster and
it has ideas from my style sheet that I found most important to use out of all the ones I selected.
To star with I used one of the fonts from the style sheet so that I could make a potential title
which is blackoak std I think that this adds a creepy style to it and stands out well as a title for
my poster, I think that overall this font is not one that I will be using in my final project as I do
not believe that it suits the poster as I would have liked it to of worked and I will look into other
possible fonts that I can use.
The first image that I have chosen in it is a wolf in the forest howling, the idea of this is so that it
gives a glimpse of what could be in the movie, there wont be a wolf in my final project but it’s a
concept idea that I am intending to use. The image shows darkness and mystery giving links to
the type of content that will be included in the movie, the idea of the fog is so that it shows that
there is something covering something up like in the Thor image style from the style sheet
where it shows off this type of design for the symbolism and it woks well in the end.
The second photo that I have chosen is to show what else could possibly be in the film, to start
with there is light in the image this can represent that there is going to be some light in the
movie and this stands out in what would have been the main characters house/apartment the
reason that in the main character having this bright setting is because the main character or
hero type in the film is someone who stands out through the darkness.
The middle photo that I have chosen is a photo of the main character which is in the middle
because that’s usually where the main character is on a poster the inspiration that I took for this
was the image style that’s used I the Thor poster and is why I chose to go for the same type of
setting put the main character at the front of it this way he stands out well on the poster and it
works well.
The fourth photo that I have chosen for this poster is one of a dark forest that has barley any
light to show the types of scenery that is going to be in the film and also look into the
atmosphere in the film because if there's lots of dark photos like I have put In it shows that its
going to be a dark film and shows if it’s a horror or not and the genre of the film.
In the fifth photo there is the same photo as the first just flipped around so that it is parallel to
the other matching it a bit. The reason that I have put the images of scenery in the background
is to give the audience an idea of what there is in the background and this ten stands out to
them and gives them an idea of the different locations that there will be in the trailer and this
appeals to my audience because it so dark toned and stands out with some parts of it which
reverts back to my research where people wanted the trailer to be dark toned.
The image at the bottom is cloudy and mystery this is iconography for the mystery in the film I
think that it really stands out and is clear to see and I use the idea of a tree on its own to
symbolise the main character and how lonely he is and alone in where I place him in the film
and I think that this sets the scene of the film and the tone of the film really well. The sun is
slightly visible at the top and I like this concept and think that it stands out as the possible part
of light trying to shine through on the main character.
I have added blood splatter to it so that it symbolises the violence within the film and the fact
that there is not a lot of it in the poster would be iconography as it symbolises how much
violence is in the film. This is audience appeal because the audience made it very clear that they
wanted violence in the horror film which links to their psychographic and I think that I can
appeal tot hem by adding this in and it would prove very effective in the poster if I was to
include it. I have chosen 3 different company logos ones that are known for making different
horror films some of which are popular and others that aren't the reason for this is to show how
the darkness of the is in the logos as well as the film and I think that this concept fits into it well.
Layout 2
The basic idea here is that I have come up with a title that I can use called the hike and I have
put it in apple chancery font as I think that this font is one that stands out from the others and
looks like it belong in a horror film poster more than anything else the iconography in this is
imagery that symbolizes the way that the film would turn out, which is the basic concept. The
font is crooked at the top like bumps suggesting the film may be bumpy to follow and flat at the
bottom showing to start with its based on a smooth story and reasoning behind why things
would be happening in the film. I think that this style is good to have in posters because when
people are analyzing it, they can interpret each art of the poster in their own way. The
background is a tree on its own which the iconography to this symbolizes the main character on
it as he would be on a hike alone and he wont know what's going on and like the tree the
character will be very dark toned and this is symbolism of this on the image of the tree and I
think that it works nicely and fits the with the character well and is why on my final products
poster I am going to out this on it and think that it will stand out really well to different people
that see it and analyze it.
I have added in a stick man at the front of this and the reason for this is to symbolize the main
character it a potential mock up design using the idea that that the main character would be
stood in front of the tree that symbolizes I'm and represents him during the film and I think that
this will work as symbolism but I would also make it so that the tree has some relevance into the
actual plot and to make sure that it would appear in the film trailer at some point but I think that
this design for a poster works and fits a basic structure and appeals to the audience a lot like the
main character being in the poster and being symbolized by the tree which is dark toned is what
the audience survey to me that my audience wanted and the idea of this iconography in the
poster is one that I think will appeal to the audience in a good way.
The background itself is dark toned and surrounded by fog which des symbolize the darkness
within it and is covered in for which is iconography for the the mystery that would be in the film
and how it would look in the end and this appeals to my audience because it they wanted there
to be mystery in it and I think that this would most certainly be important in the final version of
my poster. The background gets lighter at certain parts of it which is symbolism to represent
that the film isn't all dark and some of the light and possibly humorous, also that there is good in
it which could symbolize the main character with him being the light patch but is surrounded by
the dark tone of the film.
The three company logos that put the films into production I think that this is very important to
put in a film and include because of how curtail it is and how it stands out in the poster and
trailer when I make it this potential mock up design is where I chose three big company's such as
warner bros, rat ac and also new line entertainment and the reason for this is because these
company's are renowned for horror films such as the conjuring and nightmare on elm street.
There is also iconography in the company logos when they are on screen because they
represent the darkness in the film but they can also show the different parts of it like on a movie
trailer each colour can symbolize different parts of the film if there is red it could stand for
violence and in this its black with blue on new line this could stand for the darkness in the films
that they make and the small visual effect of blue could stand or the light that they also
sometimes include in their film and the warner bros on rat Pac change throughout each movie
they make dependent on what it is that they are making. This appeals to the audience because it
is ark toned and can represent violence. The blood splatter in the center of the page stands for
the violence and gore that I would include in the movie and its all symbolizing a small amount,
this is audience appeal because it represents what the majority of my audience want in a horror
film based off my research which is violence and gore.
The Hike
Story Boards
The idea of this story board for the trailer s that the main character is on the phone and he is looking for somewhere to go find signal and call for help. The concept is that he is trying to find
signal for a very long time so much that it starts off at day time and own it is night time and he he has spent all day looking and still has not found it. The concept is that even in day its dark toned
ad scary and I need this to be symbolized during the trailer, the concept of this is to found footage in the trailer but I think that I might change its but with some scary horror music in and some
narrative contact to the story and the company logo at the opening I think that this could end up as an interesting story. I think that it is Important ton include some iconography with some good
symbolism to it where it is clear what is happening in it and at which parts it is happening. The idea of the phone and signal is that he is lost and he needs to find help and its kind of a play bon
modern technology isn't always helpful for people and its audience appeal to show the dark tone of it and that it is set in present day like the research had said that I should do. In this I would
stay at a mid shot on camera angle just so that I can capture the character in found footage and the mid shot helps capture the scenery but not to much of it and can allow me to use more
identifiable iconography on certain points of the trailer with this concept as it would be more easy to spot with a more narrow shot of the area. This is a renowned use of shot in a trailer scenes
sometimes switch camera shots like these but for the trailer with this story board concept I would choose to keep it the same.
Story Boards
In this story board I had chosen to make it focused around a grave yard where it goes from day to night and he is trapped in this loop where he is unable to leave and it appeals to my audience
because it is dark toned all the way through although it starts off as day it is lonely and it symbolises how the film is going to go and the fact that there is one main character and he is surrounded by
tomb stones but there is one tomb stone in the middle which is a big one and that stands alone surrounded by smaller objects and I think this is good iconography as it symbolises the character in
the middle on his won. It tries to show that the character is looking around trying to find a way out of the area but cant and this is portrayed by him trying to look around for a way out. I would also
use a mid shot here because I feel that it is important to capture the scenery and the character and since this idea of the trailer for the story board is focused around standard footage instead of
found footage I can really start to add in different ideas using this mid shot on this scene. I can add in iconography in places so that the imagery tone and symbolism stands out and is easy to see in
the scenery because of the camera shot being a mid shot keeping only the short and more important parts of the scenery visible.

I think that it is Important ton include some iconography with some good symbolism to it where it is clear what is happening in it and at which parts it is happening. The idea of the phone and signal is that he is lost and he needs to find help and its kind of a play bon modern technology isn't always helpful for people and its audience appeal to show the dark tone of it and that it is set in present day like the research had said that I should do. In this I would stay at a mid shot on camera angle just so that I can capture the character in found footage and the mid shot helps capture the scenery but not to much of it and can allow me to use more identifiable iconography on certain points of the trailer with this concept as it would be more easy to spot with a more narrow shot of the area. This is a renowned use of shot in a trailer scenes sometimes switch camera shots like these but for the trailer with this story board concept I would choose to keep it the same.

Story Boards In thisstory board I had chosen to make it focused around a grave yard where it goes from day to night and he is trapped in this loop where he is unable to leave and it appeals to my audience because it is dark toned all the way through although it starts off as day it is lonely and it symbolises how the film is going to go and the fact that there is one main character and he is surrounded by tomb stones but there is one tomb stone in the middle which is a big one and that stands alone surrounded by smaller objects and I think this is good iconography as it symbolises the character in the middle on his won. It tries to show that the character is looking around trying to find a way out of the area but cant and this is portrayed by him trying to look around for a way out. I would also use a mid shot here because I feel that it is important to capture the scenery and the character and since this idea of the trailer for the story board is focused around standard footage instead of found footage I can really start to add in different ideas using this mid shot on this scene. I can add in iconography in places so that the imagery tone and symbolism stands out and is easy to see in the scenery because of the camera shot being a mid shot keeping only the short and more important parts of the scenery visible.
