Three point lighting refers to using three main types of lighting when photographing a subject: a key light as the primary illumination, a fill light to reduce shadows created by the key light, and a back light placed opposite the camera to separate the subject from the background through edge lighting. The interactive notebook activity involves adding a three point lighting diagram to notes to demonstrate understanding of how key, fill, and back lights are configured for three point lighting setups.
