Trinity working closely with Balfour Beatty
Refurbishment Limited and Ealing Borough
Council, were tasked with the refurbishment of
200 tenanted flats in accordance with the Ealing
Decent Homes Scheme. We had to work closely
with the liaison team to control access to the
occupied flats trying to limit any inconvenience to
the tenants throughout the whole of the project
period.
The works included the installation of a district
heating system, feeding a number of new
radiators in each flat to replace the old hot air
units that were part of the original construction.
We were also tasked with the installation of a
new domestic hot water system using hot water
generators to serve the new bathrooms to
replace the old/un‐economical HWS cylinder
and immersion units. We also worked along‐
side other contractors who were tasked with
the replacement of all of the kitchens and
bathrooms as part of the Decent Homes
Scheme.
Part of our contract works was also the
refurbishment of the plant rooms, which
included installation of:‐
• 3No. new Hoval SRH‐Plus 360kW boilers, to
feed the district heating system
• New system pumps c/w with inverters,
expansion vessels, pressurization unit
• New MWS booster pumps, to feed new GRP
sectional water tanks at roof level
• overhaul of the roof top extract fans and
duct work repair where necessary
To complete the project we installed a state of the
art Trend BMS system, which was linked by mobile
phone technology, to the “Head‐end” computer at
the heart of Ealing Borough Council’s Engineers
Department, giving them real time access and
monitoring of all of the new systems, new plant
and equipment, in both buildings.
