1. 1- The people in this picture appears to be some boy scouts. They are probably on
their way to do something scout related. The are all in uniform and riding
together, so I believe they are on their way to do something. I think the statement
the artist was trying to make is that boy scouts are a unified group, and is trying
to show how they do things together. This photi is important to history because
boy scouts has lost much popularity in today’s society. It is important to know our
roots. Some questions may be something like; what are these kids on their way
to do? Why are they rasing their hands? A good caption would be, “Scout’s
Always Stick Together”. To find more information, you could probably search for
old photos of boy scouts. Three things I might infer from this would be, they are
good friends, they are good and upstanding kids, and this photo is very old.
2- The people in this picture are clearly soldiers, probably American. I would
assume these soldiers are currently on tour. The way they are dressed
insinuates that they have been out there for quite a while. The photographer was
just trying to show others what’s going on in the war. It is clear that this was not
meant to be a sad war picture, but what the soldiers are doing in their off time.
This picture is important because it is a grim reminder of the wars we have been
in in the past. The questions are something like, what war is this? How long have
these men been stationed? Was this all the soldiers that were origionally there?
A good caption would be, “The Boys are Back in Town!”. To find more
information, you could research past wars and find the names of these soldiers.
Three things I have observed are; they look fake happy, they look tired and
exhausted, and finally these men look like trained killers.
2. 3- These men are probably prohibitionists from 1920. In this picture, they are doing
their job and pouring out liquor. I would say that the artist was trying to show
what prohibtion was like during this time. The reason it is important is because
people will always need to know about prohibition. Some questions I have for this
picture would be; are these the authorities? Why are they doing this will smilles
on their faces? My caption would be, “ A New Age in Prohibtion”. To find more
information, you could just research prohibition. Of the three things I notcied, they
are; these men are probably mad, it’s a lot of alchohol, the picture looks really
good for the 20’s.
