Codes and Conventions
1.
2. Our product sticks to certain codes and conventions of a
British Social Realism Film, such as; having a council
estate, unknown British actors/actresses, natural lighting
and dialect that belongs to the area.
We chose to stick with these codes and conventions as
they are what everybody looks for and are key to a
successful British Social Realism Film.
3. We went with themes of relationship abuse, as they are
quite common themes when looking into social realism
films, but where we developed and changed the codes
and conventions is when we added the theme of suicide.
Although the suicide theme may not be common
because of the age of our character and our target
audience we thought the audience could sympathise
with her.
4. We also challenge codes and conventions by not putting
too much drama and action into the opening of the film,
although there is aggressive language from the
character Tay, and the audience may feel as if she is not
a likeable character, the audience would soon change
their mind when Tay has to find her friend Danni has
committed suicide.
