1. Individual Picture Analysis:
Photo #1: I see four boys, probably teenagers, riding bikes with one hand up down a dirt road where
there is no houses only tress, wearing what looks like boy scout uniforms. It also looks like they are
wearing backpacks meaning they are either going to school or leaving from school.
Photo #2: I see thirteen guys sitting around at what would probably be base. Eight with shirts on and
five with no shirts on. It looks like they are at a war zone fighting to keep our country safe.
Photo #3: I see multiple men four of which are holding jugs and pouring out what could be alcohol.
These men are doing this outside of what looks be a restarant. They reason why is this was probably
taken during the alcohol prohibition in 1920-33.

This family is working together to put dinner on the table. Evidence from the photo is the fact they are
in the kitchen, there is a table with plates, and a stove.

The message the photographer was trying to convey was this is a poor family who is trying their

The middle guy is a suspect and the police dogs are attacking him either because he has drugs or
something else. Evidence from the photo is the two police dogs grabbing at the man’s clothes.

These men look like they are being mistreated and the evidence to support that is that all men without
shirts on are a lot skinnier that the men with the uniforms on.

8. Single Photo Analysis Essay:
The photograph that I am choosing to write the photo analysis essay on is the one with what
looks be a family looking out watching as they sail away to somewhere new. This is an interesting
photo because it looks like they are on a ferry looking out to the Staute of Liberty located in New
York. There is some slight pinkish red color in the photograph giving it a old, rustic look. The photo
looks like it could have been cropped and if it wasn’t more information could be given about the
photograph. Evidence that helps my theory is that the shadows are cut of at the bottom and the sides
of the images in very close to the arms of the man on the left and the woman on the right. As for the
texture of the picture I have no honest idea of what to say about it. My reaction to first seeing this
photograph without taking the time to analyze did cause me to think of mutiple questions. Was this a
family? Were they traviling to somewhere? Were they leaving home? Are they immigrants coming to
a new land? Trying to truly figure out the answer to these question just by looking at a picture is more
difficult than it looks.
