Cells create organelles that concentrate proteins and enzymes in specific areas. The endomembrane system includes the endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi apparatus, and transport vesicles. The endoplasmic reticulum buds vesicles that are sent to the Golgi apparatus, then to the plasma membrane. Isolated organelles include the nucleus and mitochondria.
