Working With Supervisors
When it comes to working within a system and dealing with supervisors in their leadership roles, I
always found them to be a little difficult at times to bear with. I have supervisor named Liv with
whom work with. I first found out about her working style through other employees who have worked
with her in different departments. Liv was an extreme micromanager as well as a person who would
demand some of the employees to stay past their work hours for work that was her own responsibility.
Interpersonal conflicts quickly arose at work with everyone feeling that this working for her is not
exactly a treat. What I found interesting while researching and observing my supervisor s way of
managing and working was that she was always under stress from upper management.
We did not see this side of the business that she was always under and after that I started developing
respect for her little by little. If someone were to ask me what I would possibly think of her, then my
thoughts would be that given the current stress load from upper management, I myself would behave
possibly the same way. I agree with the judgements that she gave us which in turn helped us out in the
long run in the office. My overall feeling is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

NAPLAN Response Essay
In regards to improvement, the NAPLAN results suggest that Nadia has improved 11.6% in her
reading from Year 5. She has also improved in spelling, with a 17.2% increase, as well as a 19.4%
increase in numeracy. These percentages all fall out of the margin of error, indicating an accurate and
sound level of improvement. However, Nadia s writing NAPLAN result indicated a 0% improvement
from Year 5, as well as a 1.5% decrease in punctuation and grammar. While the decrease of 1.5% in
grammar and punctuation is within the margin of error I would like to argue that we should not be
seeing a decrease in results at this stage of Nadia s schooling.
Grammar and punctuation was the only section of the NAPLAN paper where Nadia answered all
questions. This data gathered gives a sound understanding of her abilities. I would like to argue that
Nadia s grammar and punctuation is effecting her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The meta analysis of these studies found that method yielded negative results (Anderson, 1997). This
proposes that traditional methods of teaching grammar did not improve the abilities of the students.
Sentence combining by contrast provides a more effective substitute to traditional grammar and
punctuation instruction as it not only develops students written work but also improve their syntactic
abilities. Furthermore, a recent study establish that instructing students to pay attention to the purpose
and real world application of grammar and punctuation in the framework of writing created stronger
and more positive impacts on students written work (Fearn Farnan, 2005). Largely, the studies on
teaching grammar and punctuation suggest that, unconventional methods like sentence combining,
have a far more significant impact than those of traditional means to develop the quality of students

The Characteristics Of Adaptation In Honey Bees
Introduction Adaptation is an evolutionary process in which the organism (or species) adapts itself to
external conditions and other factors that are in the area of its occurrence. Thanks to the adaptation
enabled by natural selection, there are useful (but not purposeful) properties. Thus, biological
evolution differs greatly from other forms of evolution. Natural selection is able to choose from those
randomly generated mutations those that are convenient and useful. Adaptation is often thought of as
adopting new evolutionary strategies and passing through genetic mutations into new forms. Honey
Bees are flying insects who live on nectar and pollen. According to Honeybee center (n.d.); Bees have
a long, straw like tongue called a probiscus that allows them to drink the nectar form deep within
blossoms (para. 2). Hummingbirds are visually distinct in size, the smallest representative of the
whole family, the smallest calypte, is also the smallest bird of the world, the largest representative is
the big hummingbird. Mostly they are strikingly colored, slender birds with small limbs. With the
exception of insects, hummingbirds have the fastest metabolism of all animal species. The reason is
especially fast and very heavy wearing of wings for the body. They live mainly in the nectar of plants,
which is helped by their long beak, which is often different in different species and specialized for a
certain kind of flower. In food, it completely rejects nectar with a lower

The Christianic Secret William Wilhelm Wrede Summary
Wilhelm Wrede Overview
The Messianic Secret is a theme of biblical criticism developed in 1901 by a German Lutheran
theologian named Wilhelm Wrede. The Messianic Secret involves Wrede s explanation for Jesus
wanting to hide his identity from his enemies by commanding the disciples to keep silent about his
mission on earth and the miracles he performed. Wrede claimed that Jesus did not ever think he was
the Messiah and that Mark and the rest of the New Testament authors sensationalized Jesus and made
him into the Messiah. Wrede claims Mark added the Messianic Secret in an attempt to give a reason
for why Jesus was not accepted by many as Messiah until after his death. Wrede s theory enjoyed
some popularity during the 1920s but faded soon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The development of the Messianic Secret was thus an effort to harmonize the two conflicting
traditions the true one about the real Jesus and the theological one developed by his followers after he
was gone.
It was observed by William Wrede in 1901 that the inconsistencies in the narrative about Jesus in
Mark render incredible some accounts of the life of Jesus. It is not possible to trace how Jesus became
during his ministry increasingly conscious of his Messianic status. Wrede remarked on the oddness
that Jesus commanded people he had healed to be silent about it. (Mark 5: 43) Indeed sometimes
(Mark 7: 36) they immediately disobeyed the request.
Wrede explained that Mark was giving not a historical account but a theological interpretation. It was
impossible for Jesus Messiahship to have been accepted until after belief in the resurrection. Then it
was realized that Jesus had been the Messiah all along. But how was it that he was not recognized?
The answer was that he had sworn people to secrecy though the demons, being supernatural beings,
recognized the truth (Mark 1: 24). When Jesus spoke in parables, Mark s view was that they were
deliberately couched in language which concealed the truth from the listening crowd. (Mark 4:

How Successful Was the New Economic Policy
The New Economic Policy (NEP) was a measure implemented in order to counter the arguably
disastrous effects War Communism. The New Economic is controversial. Some historians argue it
allowed the Soviet economy to solidify and begin to recover, and also allowed the Bolsheviks to retain
control over Russia. Others, like Orlando Figes, state it was ultimately a failure, arguing that under the
NEP the peasants grew away from the Bolshevik regime, inviting a future, and brutal, reassertion of
central control.s This essay will discuss the effectiveness of the NEP economically and politically as
well as outlining War Communism and why it failed Michael Lynch argues that By 1921, the grim

Even after the Red Army s victory in the Civil War, the policy of War Communism was maintained.
As a short term measure the policy produced the results Lenin wanted but severity increased
Bolshevik unpopularity resulting in a number of minor outbreaks of resistance during the 1920s. But
the Kronstadt Rising of 1921 proved to be highly disturbing to Lenin as he described it as the
lightening flash that illuminated the true reality of things . Lynch claims that As long as unrest was
confined to the peasants and the Bolsheviks political enemies it was a containable problem but Lenin
began to worry over the development of War Communism within the party itself. The two prominent
Bolsheviks involved Alexander Shlyapnikov, labour commissar, and Alexandra Kollontai, who led a
workers Opposition movement against the excess of war communism. Kollontai accused party leaders
of losing touch with the proletariat and from this, groups of workers in Petrograd went on strike in
early 1921 justifying their actions in the proclamation than change is needed in the policies of the
government. By February 1921 thousands of Petrograd workers crossed the naval base on Kronstadt
claiming that Russia should be better, not worse, than Tsarist times ,as the Bolshevik government
claimed Russia to be a workers state. In an attempt to pacify strikers Lenin sent a team of political
commissars to Kronstadt who were greeted with derision. In early

Policy Gaming For Strategy And Change Essay
Research Assignment 1
Summary: Policy Gaming for Strategy and Change
The following assignment is a summary of the article Policy Gaming for Strategy and Change that
was written by Geurts, Duke and Vermeulen in 2007. In the article, it can be read how companies can
use gaming simulations in order to analyse future scenarios and adapt certain strategies to their
complex organisational environment.
The article begins with an introduction about policy gaming, why it is becoming more useful for today
s organisations and the statement that the unstable environment of today is a risk to organisations
strategies, and that these risks would require coming up with innovative and creative solutions in order
to solve these issues.
It is stated, that there are two functions within a game policy that directly addresses this dilemma,
namely on one hand as a customised and interactive approach and on the other as an opportunity to
shape the own future, which can be explored and analysed, due to a mixture of role playing and
strategic simulation.
Further on, the article is divided into two parts. In the first part, the authors explain how exactly policy
gaming works, so how it is build up and how it is practiced. In the second part, the authors make a
step further and defining how powerful simulation gaming is actually by using examples, which show
the potential that simulation gaming has in real world cases. In the end, as the last part, they are giving
a conclusion and their own

Balram s Dichotomy
In Aravind Adiga s novel The White Tiger, Balram, the main character, describes a duality of Light
and Darkness. India is split into two halves: the Darkness and the Light. In contrast with popular belief
that light is good and darkness is evil, there is no clear picture in the novel of this; the Light is not
displayed as morally righteous, nor is the Darkness. Rather, the Light is the rich urban India and the
impoverished Darkness is the rural inner India. Inside this larger duality between Light and Darkness,
there are many smaller pairs that illustrate the differences between the Light and Darkness. These
differences expose Balram s worldview, and demonstrate how the oppression of Darkness by the Light
changed his view. Balram becomes obsessed with escaping the ... Show more content on

The duality between Light and Darkness contravenes the reader s expectations of a virtuous
protagonist and a villainous antagonist. The subjugation of the disadvantaged Darkness compared to
the privileged Light is represented in the many dualities that are part of the larger dichotomy between
the Light and Darkness. According to Balram, it is almost impossible to transfer from the Darkness to
the Light: India is two countries in one: an India of Light, and an India of Darkness. The ocean brings
light to my country. Every place on the map of India is well off. But the river brings darkness to India
the black river (Adiga 12). This passage suggests an impenetrable wall between the Light and
Darkness; the ocean is what makes the Light rich, but since the ocean is immovable, the Light and
Darkness are completely distinct. Balram is corrupted by his servant master relationship with Mr.
Ashok. Balram becomes fixated on the quixotic task of entering the Light, which causes his
metamorphosis throughout the novel. The dualities caused by the division between the Light and
Darkness exposes Balram s inferior status and lifestyle, causing his

Aid For Airline And Its Impact On The Tourism Industry
Aid for Airline?
Qantas airlines are an iconic Australian business, which has heavily shaped the tourism industry.
However in the 2013 14 financial year, (Qantas, 2014, pg.1) due to falls in revenue, growing
competition and high expenses the airline reported a 2.8 billion dollar loss. (Mccrann, 2014) It was
then that the company felt it required government support to assist them in getting back on their feet.
Commonly referred to as a bailout and in this case more specifically a debt guarantee , this would
involve the Australian Government covering Qantas debts, should the company collapse. (Mcllroy,
2014, p9) There were mixed views on this particular issue between different MP s, different political
parties and against Qantas itself. After much debate on the issue however it was declared that the
Government would not grant a debt guarantee to Qantas. (Coorey, 2014) This essay takes into account
both sides of this debate and explains why the ultimate decision by the Government not to financially
support Qantas was justified.
From July 2013 to July2014, Qantas reported a statutory loss of 2.84 billion dollars (Qantas, 2014, p1)
and job cuts of approximately 5,000. (Boyle, 2014, p3) According to some commentators continued
decline of this scale would bankrupt the airline. (Mccrann, 2014)
There are several explanations as to why Qantas was struggling so much to remain profitable. One
being an increase in fuel costs of 6 per cent ($253 million). (Qantas, 2014, p1)This

In America there is a religious totem held above all else. It is a piece of square cloth with thirteen red

Our Flag, the symbol of freedom for over 216, 000,000 citizens of our great land, and the banner
under which countless millions have given their last measure of devotion in wars to protect our

The leader then commences to lead the audience in the pledge of allegiance and pray to God to keep

During the ceremony the power is extremely hierarchical and resembles Mauss sacrifice circle with

organization with the duty of retiring unfit flags. Any one person or group can do it. But while it is
legal for anyone to retire the flag it is usually done through a military organization or boy/girl scouts

When you re stressed out where do you go? We all have a place where we can go and relieve our

Where the never ending piles of class work and the constant nagging of friends seem to dissolve like

of the defenders and dribbles the ball through the leg of the other and proceeds to pass the ball to one
of his teammates who take the ball straight to the rim. I can t help but smile at this perfectly executed
play as the game continues. There are several more plays like this made on both sides but, they all
seem to dull in comparison with the first one.
While their game is coming to an end, my problems slowly begin to creep their way back into my
mind as I begin to stretch. Loosing up my body for the intense workout that is coming. As they get off
the court I decide to begin my workout with some basic ball handling drills. Through the left leg,
behind the back, around the right, switch, through the right leg, behind the back, around the left leg,
repeat. The ball flowing smoothly through my legs like water as I continue to increase the pace until I
ve done this ten times on each leg. As I continue my problems are beginning to matter less and less.
Next, I start my shooting drills and I am soon welcomed by the feeling of the ball leaving my hand.
And like when an archer releases his arrow from his bow and is

Essay on The Foundation of the Netherlands
The Foundation of the Netherlands
About twenty percent of the area of the Netherlands and twenty one percent of its population is
located below sea level, and fifty percent of its land lies less than one meter above sea level
(Molenaar) This makes the Netherlands out of all the countries in the world the land with the most
land below sea level. The Netherlands currently has more than seventeen thousand kilometers of flood
defenses (Molenaar) Dikes were the foundation of the Netherlands because they made the Netherlands
grow, well known, and made them a pro at building them, but the dikes also wounded the Netherlands.
There have not always been dikes in the Netherlands. Before there were dikes, the lower lands used to
overflow at high tide. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beginning in the late 1920s and continuing for the rest of the century, polders on Lake IJssel were
enclosed and then drained (Rochon). Former fishing ports have now become inland towns; on the
polder, cows wander among the remnants of shipwrecks as they graze on reclaimed meadow.
The most famous legend about dikes was the legend of the brave Hansje Brinker. It was actually a
literary invention by the American writer Mary Elizabeth Mapes Dodge and goes like this: On an
autumn afternoon eight year old Hansje set off to visit a friend who lived out in the country on the
other side of the dike. Walking along the canal on his way home, Hansje heard the sound of trickling
water. He looked up and saw a small hole in the dike and watched a tiny stream of water flowing out
of it. Quickly Hansje inserted his chubby finger in the hole and the flow of water stopped. All night he
plugged the hole in the dike, numb with cold and fear. At daybreak, a clergyman walked along the top
of the dike and saw Hansje. He quickly summoned help. So did Hansje prevent a disastrous flood
(Brouwer). The dikes were very useful in World War Two. Most of the time the dikes were not strong
enough for the heavy tanks of the Germans. On October 3, 1944, the RAF (royal air force) bombed the
dikes on Walcheren Island, isolating the German units there by flooding them (Goddard). This would
eliminate their ability to move around the island

Greek Mythology Influence On Society
The heavy influence of Greek mythology persists in today s society. Common name brand products
echo the names of the gods. Popular movies and television shows portray the myths of ancient Greece,
some creating exact replications and others adding a modern twist to the timeless stories. Books are
written about the gods lives and adventures in ancient as well as present times. These portrayals of
gods and goddesses exist to entertain people today just as they did in Greece centuries ago. With such
a large influence surrounding life today, it is important to identify the established definition and
origins of Greek mythology, as well as how it has specifically influenced culture and literature.
When asking what mythology is you can get a bundle of stories and various answers, (Graf 1 2) states
in his book that a myth is a tale indicated by the etymology of the word: for the early Greeks, a
mythos was a word or story, synonymous with logos and epos; a mythology was a storyteller ... Show

He is one of the six original gods that Cronus ate and later freed. Hades never knows what is
happening in the world above, or in Olympus, except for fragmentary information which comes to him
when mortals strike their hands upon the earth and invoke him with oaths and curses (Graves 122).
Normally Hades is not considered one of the twelve Olympians on Mount Olympus because he never
visits but dwells in the underworld. In many stories about demigods or Greek mythology, the heroes
usually must travel to the underworld and come back to prove themselves. For example, this theme
recurs throughout the stories of The Odyssey, Hercules, and Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief.
These heroes must fight their way out or be cunning. Hades likes to collect his souls and not let
anyone leave. This can be interpreted in many of today s stories or shows. A lot of Greek culture was
able to inspire literature and our culture

Write An Essay On Outliers By Malcolm Gladwell
As I got older, my mother constantly told me that to achieve mastery over any one subject, you must
get 10,000 hours of practice. This was a reference to the book Outliers, written by Malcolm Gladwell.
My mother taught me to be honest, to believe in trust, and to never lie. This inspired me because it
made me who I am. Through my life, I have never thought of who was inspiring me to go on; urging
me to continue to do what I was doing and to strive and aspire for greater things. Now that I think of
it, my mother was the one who was inspiring me. I admire my mom because she has a positive
attitude, she works hard, and she explains things to me in a way that makes sense. My mother has a
positive attitude. For example, when I accidentally spilled anti bacterial soap on the wooden table, my
mom thought positively and said that mistakes happen. In addition, when I was stressed about getting
into All County Orchestra, my mother said that I would get in and if I didn t, the world wasn t going to
end. I admire her because she looks at the positives of everything and attempts to make light of some
situations. I am inspired by my mother s positive, laid back attitude. In addition, she is the definition
of hard working. For example, during the tax season, she has to study for ... Show more content on

Systolic Pressure
Section 4 Question 1 In this essay I will cover the meaning of systolic and diastolic pressure. The
range of levels from optimal to poor in relation to blood pressure. I will take my blood pressure as
well as my mother s and discuss the correlations between blood pressure and lifestyle, stress level or
activity level. Last, I will discuss how I will incorporate this knowledge in my future training
endeavors. Blood pressure is defined as the force exerted by the blood against the inner walls of the
blood vessels. Determined by the flow blood and resistance to that flow. It is expressed by systolic
pressure over diastolic pressure. Blood pressure varies depending on age, sex, and ethnicity. Systolic
pressure: Aspect of a blood pressure reading which indicates the maximum arterial pressure occurring
during contraction of the left ventricle of the heart. Diastolic pressure: Pressure exerted on the walls of
the blood vessels during the refilling of the heart. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

United States Involvement In The Vietnam War
In the beginning, the United States always pushed forth the idea they were becoming involved in the
war in Vietnam in order to send out aid to France, who was an ally of theirs. After the United Nations
began setting up a plan to help France, the United States suggested splitting up the Communist and
Democratic portions of Vietnam, with the communists having control over the North, while the
Kennedy administration continued to send military aid to the Southern portions of Vietnam.
In the end, the United States main objective in becoming involved in the Vietnam War was to prevent
the spread of communism in the region. After the Gulf of Tonkin incident, which occurred when North
Vietnamese patrol boats fired on an American ship that they had discovered conducting a spy mission
off the coast of North Vietnam, current United States President Johnson used the incident to eventually
get authority from Congress to send more US troops into Vietnam. Slowly over time, the anti war
sentiment against the Vietnam War continued to grow amongst the American people. Many Americans

History Of Gold, Legends, And The World Of The Legend Of...
Gold, legends have been made about it especially the legend of El Dorado but maybe the city isn t
actually a city just a plot of land that has produced 40% of all the worlds gold ore. Witwatersrand
Basin located in Johannesburg, South Africa has been called the richest gold field ever mined. In 1970
it produced 79% of the worlds gold output, but as a mineral that takes hundreds of years to produce it
was mined out, by 2009 it produced less that 9%. Gold has been a sign of wealth since the earliest
civilizations, being made into jewelry, money, or other materialistic objects. Therefore, making gold a
nice commodity to have access to, although not many people do. The first person to mine
Witwatersrand Basin was J.H. Davis a British prospector came across the land in 1852 where he
walked away with £600 worth in gold. Years later Jan Gerritze Bantjes was called the first and original
discoverer of one of the gold fields in June 1884 since none of the earlier miners owned the land. Due
to the large area covered in this basin many new fields were found each richer than the last. Today the
land is mined by Witwatersrand Gold Mining Company Ltd created in 1886 was the first mining
company on the reef. Most of the mining conditions in the early 1900 s was harsh and dangerous; the
mines were dark and the infrastructure of them were questionable. Due to the lack of machinery and

5 Reasons Why Kids Should Do Chores
Helping out at home raises self esteem when parents insist that kids do their chores, they are letting
them know they are not just loved, they are needed claims Wendy Mogel about chores. Many parents
deal with conflicts where they think that their kids don t work hard enough and don t care much about
their grades or not taking things seriously. Regrettably, they don t realize that it s because they aren t
giving chores to their children. These chores may seem very small but help kids learn how to deal with
problems in the future with the real life experiences they faced in the past while doing chores. Chores
can benefit kids in many different ways with perseverance, taking responsibilities (5 Reasons Why
Kids Should Do Chores), and they ll get better at teamwork (The Benefits of Chores). However, it is
also important to keep in mind what a child is capable at a certain age.
It s very remarkable to not be a quitter. Having perseverance helps you to find success in things. But it
s very hard to get into the habit of it. Therefore, many people struggle with not having perseverance.
Even parents get very worried about their children not working hard or their kids quit more often. The
solution to this problem is assigning chores (5 Reasons Kids should do chores). Assigning chores help
because chores may seem easy, but they are very tiring and hard. This could make kids frustrated, but
if you push them harder and make them figure out how to accomplish their work successfully by

Canadian Tort Law
Engineers, contractors, and other businesses must be mindful of and knowledgeable of their legal
obligations when performing their occupation or supplying a product. Negligence in the design or
construction of a product that results in damage or bodily harm, or could result in damage or bodily
harm, can result in liability for economic loss under Canadian Tort law. Engineers, architects, and
contractors need to be respectful of their duty of care to ensure their product is precisely produced
with no danger of negligence. In 1972, Bird Construction Company Limited entered into a contract
with Tuxedo Properties Company Limited of Winnipeg. Bird Construction was the general contractor
responsible for building a 15 storey apartment building ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
103). 2. ANALYSIS In Canada, when someone feels they have been wronged or injured by another,
they can seek compensation through the courts. This area of law is known as tort law which examines
conduct and consequences (Lin, 2010, p. 4). Tort law does not rely on promises or contracts. It is an
area of law that examines the obligations and duties one party has to another. In relation to business
and professionals, tort law aims to change the behavior of producers to prevent future harm or loss
(Lin, 2010, p. 9). In Winnipeg Condominium versus Bird Construction, the tort law focused on
negligence. As Justice La Forest indicated, the construction of the building resulted in a defect which
presented a potential for physical damage and a possible danger to the public. While there was no
mention of any involvement of an engineer as a defendant in the case, if the actions of an engineer
would have been in question, then that engineer could also have been named as a defendant. However,
the negligence tort was being directed primarily at the general contractor in this case. While the
Manitoba Court of Queen s Bench and the Manitoba Court of Appeal dismissed the case because they
found there was not a contractual relationship between Winnipeg Condominium and Bird
Construction and because there was no evidence of damage to property or person, the dismissals were
overturned at the Supreme Court level. The Supreme Court ruling written by Justice

Plutarch s Influence On Frankenstein
In the story Frankenstein, Victor s creation is exposed to four different books that influence his view
on human life. These four books are John Milton s Paradise Lost, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe s The
Sorrows of Young Werther, Plutarch s Plutarch s Lives of the Noble Greeks and Romans, and
Constantin Francois Volney s Ruins of Empires. All of these books influenced the creature to become
who he became, however I believe that Goethe s The Sorrows of Young Werther and Volney s Ruins
of Empires actually did not have a negative affect on the creature. However I would change the books
Paradise Lost and Plutarch s Lives of the Noble Greeks and Romans into books that would hopefully
give the creature a better influence. The first book I would replace ... Show more content on

Paradise Lost focuses on the failures of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, which can also translate
to the failures of us as humans because they decided to eat the fruit. This would not leave a good
impression of humanity on the creature, because he does not know anything about humanity yet other
than the fact that they seem to hate him because of his appearance. On the other hand, Life of Pi
focuses on humanity s ability to persevere, even during the hardest situations. The creature which is
ostracized by society, can be compared to Pi who left all alone on a boat after being orphaned by a
ship wreck. Pi was lost at sea for 227 days with a 450 pound Bengal tiger and to stay alive in that sort
of situation requires amazing perseverance. If the creature had read this book and learned more about
perseverance through Pi s example, I believe that he would have been able to persevere through the
ostracization, and wouldn t have been so driven by his hatred for his own appearance. Even though
society may have rejected him, if the creature read Life of Pi, he would have learned to persevere
through the tough times and maybe would have come to be loved by people because of his

the business s finances, profits, employee and customer details, and various other information. Alerts
can be set on customer and employee information to make sure they are contacted to keep the system
updated. Using good software for database purposes will help with maintaining information
accurately. External and internal audits are another way of keeping information up to date. 1.6 Explain
the purpose of checking information for accuracy All businesses and organisations have to check to
see that the information they have stored is accurate. For example, the money coming in and going out
have to be correctly recorded otherwise it will look as if the company has not made much profit and it
can affect the share prices of the company, affect the employees as the company might not be able to

1. INTRODUCTION
Nowadays the internal combustion engines are spread to the extent that they represent the main cause
of pollutant production. Nevertheless, it is well known that the stocks of fuels traditionally used in this
kind of engines will be able to satisfy the world s needs for few more decades. This explains the
massive research activity, drawn all over the world, addressed to the utilization of innovative fuels and
injection concepts in order to either replace the traditional ones or obtain a more efficient and clean
combustion. Compared to diesel engines, characterized by a high efficiency but at the same time high
levels of articulate, and to premixed charge gasoline engines, characterized by a low efficiency
because of knock limitations and pumping losses, lean burn engines can reach a higher efficiency
thanks to lower pumping losses and heat transfer. On the contrary, lean mixtures generally imply
higher levels of both total unburned hydrocarbons (THC) and carbon monoxide. Nevertheless, mixing
the fuel with an increasing quantity of air, flame instability, sometimes leading to misfiring, is
observed.

I chose to log my daily diet, exercise and rest for a week to find what changes I can make to better my
health. I found so many things that I can change to help me with all three of these areas. I might even
need to keep track every week of my habits so I feel more organized and have everything planned out
so I don t get off track of my goals. I found with my diet I do pretty well with the foods I currently eat.
When I go to the grocery store I always go through the produce section last after I have figured out
what meals I am going to make for the week. I like to know what I need to buy for the meals I have
chosen but also to look at all of the deals they are having. I love fruit and veggies, which is different
that a lot of people. I somewhat taught myself to eat healthy after I started gaining weight and was
feeling icky. I couldn t believe how much I enjoyed eating healthy and could not believe how easy it
was. Many people think healthy food is expensive, but the way I look at it is, if you want to have a
long healthy thriving life, you need to take care of your body and you don t want to just feed yourself

  • 2. Working With Supervisors When it comes to working within a system and dealing with supervisors in their leadership roles, I always found them to be a little difficult at times to bear with. I have supervisor named Liv with whom work with. I first found out about her working style through other employees who have worked with her in different departments. Liv was an extreme micromanager as well as a person who would demand some of the employees to stay past their work hours for work that was her own responsibility. Interpersonal conflicts quickly arose at work with everyone feeling that this working for her is not exactly a treat. What I found interesting while researching and observing my supervisor s way of managing and working was that she was always under stress from upper management. We did not see this side of the business that she was always under and after that I started developing respect for her little by little. If someone were to ask me what I would possibly think of her, then my thoughts would be that given the current stress load from upper management, I myself would behave possibly the same way. I agree with the judgements that she gave us which in turn helped us out in the long run in the office. My overall feeling is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. NAPLAN Response Essay In regards to improvement, the NAPLAN results suggest that Nadia has improved 11.6% in her reading from Year 5. She has also improved in spelling, with a 17.2% increase, as well as a 19.4% increase in numeracy. These percentages all fall out of the margin of error, indicating an accurate and sound level of improvement. However, Nadia s writing NAPLAN result indicated a 0% improvement from Year 5, as well as a 1.5% decrease in punctuation and grammar. While the decrease of 1.5% in grammar and punctuation is within the margin of error I would like to argue that we should not be seeing a decrease in results at this stage of Nadia s schooling. Grammar and punctuation was the only section of the NAPLAN paper where Nadia answered all questions. This data gathered gives a sound understanding of her abilities. I would like to argue that Nadia s grammar and punctuation is effecting her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The meta analysis of these studies found that method yielded negative results (Anderson, 1997). This proposes that traditional methods of teaching grammar did not improve the abilities of the students. Sentence combining by contrast provides a more effective substitute to traditional grammar and punctuation instruction as it not only develops students written work but also improve their syntactic abilities. Furthermore, a recent study establish that instructing students to pay attention to the purpose and real world application of grammar and punctuation in the framework of writing created stronger and more positive impacts on students written work (Fearn Farnan, 2005). Largely, the studies on teaching grammar and punctuation suggest that, unconventional methods like sentence combining, have a far more significant impact than those of traditional means to develop the quality of students grammar and punctuation and subsequently their ... • 4. The Characteristics Of Adaptation In Honey Bees Introduction Adaptation is an evolutionary process in which the organism (or species) adapts itself to external conditions and other factors that are in the area of its occurrence. Thanks to the adaptation enabled by natural selection, there are useful (but not purposeful) properties. Thus, biological evolution differs greatly from other forms of evolution. Natural selection is able to choose from those randomly generated mutations those that are convenient and useful. Adaptation is often thought of as adopting new evolutionary strategies and passing through genetic mutations into new forms. Honey Bees are flying insects who live on nectar and pollen. According to Honeybee center (n.d.); Bees have a long, straw like tongue called a probiscus that allows them to drink the nectar form deep within blossoms (para. 2). Hummingbirds are visually distinct in size, the smallest representative of the whole family, the smallest calypte, is also the smallest bird of the world, the largest representative is the big hummingbird. Mostly they are strikingly colored, slender birds with small limbs. With the exception of insects, hummingbirds have the fastest metabolism of all animal species. The reason is especially fast and very heavy wearing of wings for the body. They live mainly in the nectar of plants, which is helped by their long beak, which is often different in different species and specialized for a certain kind of flower. In food, it completely rejects nectar with a lower ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Christianic Secret William Wilhelm Wrede Summary Wilhelm Wrede Overview The Messianic Secret is a theme of biblical criticism developed in 1901 by a German Lutheran theologian named Wilhelm Wrede. The Messianic Secret involves Wrede s explanation for Jesus wanting to hide his identity from his enemies by commanding the disciples to keep silent about his mission on earth and the miracles he performed. Wrede claimed that Jesus did not ever think he was the Messiah and that Mark and the rest of the New Testament authors sensationalized Jesus and made him into the Messiah. Wrede claims Mark added the Messianic Secret in an attempt to give a reason for why Jesus was not accepted by many as Messiah until after his death. Wrede s theory enjoyed some popularity during the 1920s but faded soon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The development of the Messianic Secret was thus an effort to harmonize the two conflicting traditions the true one about the real Jesus and the theological one developed by his followers after he was gone. It was observed by William Wrede in 1901 that the inconsistencies in the narrative about Jesus in Mark render incredible some accounts of the life of Jesus. It is not possible to trace how Jesus became during his ministry increasingly conscious of his Messianic status. Wrede remarked on the oddness that Jesus commanded people he had healed to be silent about it. (Mark 5: 43) Indeed sometimes (Mark 7: 36) they immediately disobeyed the request. Wrede explained that Mark was giving not a historical account but a theological interpretation. It was impossible for Jesus Messiahship to have been accepted until after belief in the resurrection. Then it was realized that Jesus had been the Messiah all along. But how was it that he was not recognized? The answer was that he had sworn people to secrecy though the demons, being supernatural beings, recognized the truth (Mark 1: 24). When Jesus spoke in parables, Mark s view was that they were deliberately couched in language which concealed the truth from the listening crowd. (Mark 4: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. How Successful Was the New Economic Policy The New Economic Policy (NEP) was a measure implemented in order to counter the arguably disastrous effects War Communism. The New Economic is controversial. Some historians argue it allowed the Soviet economy to solidify and begin to recover, and also allowed the Bolsheviks to retain control over Russia. Others, like Orlando Figes, state it was ultimately a failure, arguing that under the NEP the peasants grew away from the Bolshevik regime, inviting a future, and brutal, reassertion of central control.s This essay will discuss the effectiveness of the NEP economically and politically as well as outlining War Communism and why it failed Michael Lynch argues that By 1921, the grim economic situation had undermined the original ... As a short term measure the policy produced the results Lenin wanted but severity increased Bolshevik unpopularity resulting in a number of minor outbreaks of resistance during the 1920s. But the Kronstadt Rising of 1921 proved to be highly disturbing to Lenin as he described it as the lightening flash that illuminated the true reality of things . Lynch claims that As long as unrest was confined to the peasants and the Bolsheviks political enemies it was a containable problem but Lenin began to worry over the development of War Communism within the party itself. The two prominent Bolsheviks involved Alexander Shlyapnikov, labour commissar, and Alexandra Kollontai, who led a workers Opposition movement against the excess of war communism. Kollontai accused party leaders of losing touch with the proletariat and from this, groups of workers in Petrograd went on strike in early 1921 justifying their actions in the proclamation than change is needed in the policies of the government. By February 1921 thousands of Petrograd workers crossed the naval base on Kronstadt claiming that Russia should be better, not worse, than Tsarist times ,as the Bolshevik government claimed Russia to be a workers state. • 8. Policy Gaming For Strategy And Change Essay Research Assignment 1 Summary: Policy Gaming for Strategy and Change The following assignment is a summary of the article Policy Gaming for Strategy and Change that was written by Geurts, Duke and Vermeulen in 2007. In the article, it can be read how companies can use gaming simulations in order to analyse future scenarios and adapt certain strategies to their complex organisational environment. The article begins with an introduction about policy gaming, why it is becoming more useful for today s organisations and the statement that the unstable environment of today is a risk to organisations strategies, and that these risks would require coming up with innovative and creative solutions in order to solve these issues. It is stated, that there are two functions within a game policy that directly addresses this dilemma, namely on one hand as a customised and interactive approach and on the other as an opportunity to shape the own future, which can be explored and analysed, due to a mixture of role playing and strategic simulation. Further on, the article is divided into two parts. In the first part, the authors explain how exactly policy gaming works, so how it is build up and how it is practiced. In the second part, the authors make a step further and defining how powerful simulation gaming is actually by using examples, which show the potential that simulation gaming has in real world cases. • 12. Balram s Dichotomy In Aravind Adiga s novel The White Tiger, Balram, the main character, describes a duality of Light and Darkness. India is split into two halves: the Darkness and the Light. In contrast with popular belief that light is good and darkness is evil, there is no clear picture in the novel of this; the Light is not displayed as morally righteous, nor is the Darkness. Rather, the Light is the rich urban India and the impoverished Darkness is the rural inner India. Inside this larger duality between Light and Darkness, there are many smaller pairs that illustrate the differences between the Light and Darkness. These differences expose Balram s worldview, and demonstrate how the oppression of Darkness by the Light changed his view. Balram becomes obsessed with escaping the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The duality between Light and Darkness contravenes the reader s expectations of a virtuous protagonist and a villainous antagonist. The subjugation of the disadvantaged Darkness compared to the privileged Light is represented in the many dualities that are part of the larger dichotomy between the Light and Darkness. According to Balram, it is almost impossible to transfer from the Darkness to the Light: India is two countries in one: an India of Light, and an India of Darkness. The ocean brings light to my country. Every place on the map of India is well off. But the river brings darkness to India the black river (Adiga 12). This passage suggests an impenetrable wall between the Light and Darkness; the ocean is what makes the Light rich, but since the ocean is immovable, the Light and Darkness are completely distinct. Balram is corrupted by his servant master relationship with Mr. Ashok. Balram becomes fixated on the quixotic task of entering the Light, which causes his metamorphosis throughout the novel. • 13. Aid For Airline And Its Impact On The Tourism Industry Aid for Airline? Qantas airlines are an iconic Australian business, which has heavily shaped the tourism industry. However in the 2013 14 financial year, (Qantas, 2014, pg.1) due to falls in revenue, growing competition and high expenses the airline reported a 2.8 billion dollar loss. (Mccrann, 2014) It was then that the company felt it required government support to assist them in getting back on their feet. Commonly referred to as a bailout and in this case more specifically a debt guarantee , this would involve the Australian Government covering Qantas debts, should the company collapse. (Mcllroy, 2014, p9) There were mixed views on this particular issue between different MP s, different political parties and against Qantas itself. After much debate on the issue however it was declared that the Government would not grant a debt guarantee to Qantas. (Coorey, 2014) This essay takes into account both sides of this debate and explains why the ultimate decision by the Government not to financially support Qantas was justified. From July 2013 to July2014, Qantas reported a statutory loss of 2.84 billion dollars (Qantas, 2014, p1) and job cuts of approximately 5,000. (Boyle, 2014, p3) According to some commentators continued decline of this scale would bankrupt the airline. Alcoholics Anonymous Group AA Meeting For people that abuse alcohol, there is a group meeting called alcoholics anonymous, which is a twelve step program to support and help alcoholics everywhere. The location I attended was the AA meeting on 202 W. Broadway, Anaheim. The group session that I attended called their meeting happy hour. The leader of the AA meeting gave him a chance to get his life together and make him get his life before alcoholism became his happiness. • 21. Descriptive Basketball Game When you re stressed out where do you go? We all have a place where we can go and relieve our stress. Whether it s a physical place or a state of mind we all have a place where we feel untouchable. Where the never ending piles of class work and the constant nagging of friends seem to dissolve like kool aid in water until left with nothing but a smooth mixture of me, myself, and I. For me this place is the court: the basketball court. When I open the doors of the gym I am met with the familiar sound of squeaking shoes and balls bouncing on the hardwood floors. I go to sit on the aged wooden bleachers and watch the game that is currently taking place. The weight my worries are being lifted a little as I get wrapped up in the game. The guard is bringing the ball up the court his eyes scanning for an opening to either pass or shoot the ball. The opposing team has every man covered leaving little to no room for the guard and his teammates to set up the play. As soon as the guard sets foot pass half court two defenders go to trap him. Wrong move. The guard quickly, almost effortlessly sidesteps one of the defenders and dribbles the ball through the leg of the other and proceeds to pass the ball to one of his teammates who take the ball straight to the rim. I can t help but smile at this perfectly executed play as the game continues. There are several more plays like this made on both sides but, they all seem to dull in comparison with the first one. While their game is coming to an end, my problems slowly begin to creep their way back into my mind as I begin to stretch. Loosing up my body for the intense workout that is coming. As they get off the court I decide to begin my workout with some basic ball handling drills. Through the left leg, behind the back, around the right, switch, through the right leg, behind the back, around the left leg, repeat. The ball flowing smoothly through my legs like water as I continue to increase the pace until I ve done this ten times on each leg. As I continue my problems are beginning to matter less and less. Next, I start my shooting drills and I am soon welcomed by the feeling of the ball leaving my hand. And like when an archer releases his arrow from his bow and is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Netherlands currently has more than seventeen thousand kilometers of flood defenses (Molenaar) Dikes were the foundation of the Netherlands because they made the Netherlands grow, well known, and made them a pro at building them, but the dikes also wounded the Netherlands. Former fishing ports have now become inland towns; on the polder, cows wander among the remnants of shipwrecks as they graze on reclaimed meadow. The most famous legend about dikes was the legend of the brave Hansje Brinker. It was actually a literary invention by the American writer Mary Elizabeth Mapes Dodge and goes like this: On an autumn afternoon eight year old Hansje set off to visit a friend who lived out in the country on the other side of the dike. Walking along the canal on his way home, Hansje heard the sound of trickling water. He looked up and saw a small hole in the dike and watched a tiny stream of water flowing out of it. Quickly Hansje inserted his chubby finger in the hole and the flow of water stopped. All night he plugged the hole in the dike, numb with cold and fear. At daybreak, a clergyman walked along the top of the dike and saw Hansje. He quickly summoned help. So did Hansje prevent a disastrous flood (Brouwer). The dikes were very useful in World War Two. Most of the time the dikes were not strong enough for the heavy tanks of the Germans. On October 3, 1944, the RAF (royal air force) bombed the dikes on Walcheren Island, isolating the German units there by flooding them (Goddard). ANALYSIS In Canada, when someone feels they have been wronged or injured by another, they can seek compensation through the courts. This area of law is known as tort law which examines conduct and consequences (Lin, 2010, p. 4). Tort law does not rely on promises or contracts. It is an area of law that examines the obligations and duties one party has to another. In relation to business and professionals, tort law aims to change the behavior of producers to prevent future harm or loss (Lin, 2010, p. 9). In Winnipeg Condominium versus Bird Construction, the tort law focused on negligence. As Justice La Forest indicated, the construction of the building resulted in a defect which presented a potential for physical damage and a possible danger to the public. While there was no mention of any involvement of an engineer as a defendant in the case, if the actions of an engineer would have been in question, then that engineer could also have been named as a defendant. However, the negligence tort was being directed primarily at the general contractor in this case. While the Manitoba Court of Queen s Bench and the Manitoba Court of Appeal dismissed the case because they found there was not a contractual relationship between Winnipeg Condominium and Bird Construction and because there was no evidence of damage to property or person, the dismissals were overturned at the Supreme Court level. INTRODUCTION Nowadays the internal combustion engines are spread to the extent that they represent the main cause of pollutant production. Nevertheless, it is well known that the stocks of fuels traditionally used in this kind of engines will be able to satisfy the world s needs for few more decades. This explains the massive research activity, drawn all over the world, addressed to the utilization of innovative fuels and injection concepts in order to either replace the traditional ones or obtain a more efficient and clean combustion. Compared to diesel engines, characterized by a high efficiency but at the same time high levels of articulate, and to premixed charge gasoline engines, characterized by a low efficiency because of knock limitations and pumping losses, lean burn engines can reach a higher efficiency thanks to lower pumping losses and heat transfer. On the contrary, lean mixtures generally imply higher levels of both total unburned hydrocarbons (THC) and carbon monoxide. Nevertheless, mixing the fuel with an increasing quantity of air, flame instability, sometimes leading to misfiring, is observed.
