Blood Theme Of Blood In Macbeth
Blood Signifying Honor, Betrayal, and Guilt in Macbeth
Blood is usually considered to be something related to abhorrence and wrongdoing. However, in
the play Macbeth, Shakespeare associates blood with a variety of different atmospheres. Ideas of
guilt, betrayal, and honor are established in this tragedy with the use of this symbolism. Blood and
bloodiness can be traced all throughout the drama signifying these ideas. Although the uses of
blood produce many different effects, all are used to symbolize death. All throughout Macbeth,
Shakespeare uses the motif of blood to establish the themes of honor, betrayal, and his character s
constant guilt.
Blood is seen all throughout Macbeth and is used in a few instances to create the theme of
honor between Shakespeare s characters. In the beginning of the play, one of the first characters
introduced is a bloody captain. Shakespeare uses this blood here, however, not to symbolize
something negative, but to signify victory after battle. In the fight against the Thane of Cawdor,
the Captain who happens to be covered in blood is told, So well thy words become thee as thy
wounds:/ They smack of honor both (1.2.47 48). This man covered in blood is used here to
exemplify the victory of the battle that was just won. Macbeth s success in battle is also
represented by this symbol of blood further in this scene when the Captain boasts, For Brave
Macbeth (well he deserves that name), / Disdaining Fortune, with his brandished steel, / Which

How Did Stanislavski Contribute To Theatre
Konstantin Stanislavski was a Russian theatre practitioner born to a wealthy manufacturer which
granted much financial backing for his amateur theatre endeavors. Born in 1863 in Moscow, Russia,
Konstantin started working in theatre as a teen, and later became an acclaimed thespian and
director of stage productions. He was known for being an outstanding character actorand the many
productions he directed. His career work would allow him to be seen as the most influential person
in Russian theatre. Over a time span of 40 years he was involved in many facets of the performing
arts which ranged from producing and directing plays to analyzing and understanding the meaning
of acting. Konstantin performed and directed until the age of 33. Stanislavski earned international
recognition during his lifetime for all of his contributions to the acting genre. However, in the

In 1922, he staged Eugene Onegin by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky at the Bolshoi Opera Studio

not only stage theatre, but also through excellent performance at the opera, sparked what may be
termed as a revolution in opera at the time. He stopped his theatre career when he co founded
Moscow Art Theatre. When Konstantin performed he used his own technique, the Stanislavski
Method . During the Moscow Art Theatre s early years, Stanislavski worked on a guiding
structure for actors to consistently have good performances. He believed that actors needed to
have real emotion when acting and, to do so, they could draw upon feelings they d experienced in
their own lives. The Moscow Art Theatre had a world tour between 1922 and 1924 and the

My Hidden Quality Is That I Enjoy Taking Care Of Newborns,...
Elvira Heidinger My hidden quality is that I enjoy taking care of newborns, toddlers or elderlies.
Usually, I am a very introverted person and I need a long time to open up to people, but it is
different if I am with somebody who needs the help. I have a very good connection to them right
from the beginning. Taking care of newborns is something I really enjoy. It is my passion to
prepare homemade babyfood and to try to stimulate their senses as much as I can in that early
stage of their life. However, I also like to spend time with toddleres. I like to plan activities for
them and give the opportunites to learn in a playful way. Children learn every day and it is
important to me to give them as much possibilities to learn about the world as possible. It is
very easy for me to explain things in their level of communication, and I enjoy to see things from
their perspective. I read a lot of lecture about different children pedagogics and it is very
fascinating to me how important the first years of life are. If my friends would know about my
hidden qualities it could enhance, but also damage the relationship with them. A lot of my friends
have already children, who are in a young age. It would defentliy enhance the relationship to them,
due to the fact that they would know that I am their if they need a babysitter. I also would be able
to give them many ideas about what to do with children when they stuck at home because of bad
weather or how to handly bad situations. But I

Formalism And Realism In Film
Short Critical Essay #3 Option 2 Classical film theories are generally divided into two main
camps. They have been categorized as Formalism and Realism. The formalist approach looks at
the structure and form of the film. It analyzes the method by which the story materializes and how
it forces the viewer to react based on the way it is presented. It incorporates character development,
photographic composition, camera movement, set design, editing, etc. to that end. The realist
approach scrutinizes how a film represents reality. It is a mechanical reproduction of reality that
strives for objectivity and realism. The primary focus is always every day, true to life characters
and dilemmas, and the real life situations they are found in. Commonplace themes are the rule. To
achieve realism in cinema it was necessary to direct attention to the physical and philosophic
problems of ordinary existence. People emerge as victims of forces beyond their control in a world
at times seemingly spinning out of control. Although there are also a few similarities, formalism
and realism can be shown to offer substantially different approaches to the art of filmmaking and the
study of film. Realism is a style of filmmaking that attempts to duplicate the look of objective reality
with emphasis on authentic locations and details, long shots, lengthy takes, and a minimum of
distortion. Andre Bazin championed cinematic realism. He identifies Realism as a movement of
filmmakers who put their

The Book of 1 Samuel Essay
The Book of 1 Samuel
The book of 1 Samuel, a part of the Old Testament, sparks the dawn of the United Kingdom of
Israel by telling of its first king, Saul. Samuel is one of the first talked about pre literary prophets
in the bible perhaps because he anointed the first king of the United Kingdom. He is a prophet by
definition because he possessed the ability to converse with the almighty Yahweh. Samuel and Saul
are key players to the rise of the kingdom but Saul runs into trouble and disobeys God, which
leads him to his own inevitable demise. In 1 Samuel 28: 1 25 Yahweh guides Saul to his death
because he has outright deceived and disobeyed God. This passage sets an example to obey
Yahweh; otherwise he will inflict punishment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Saul had previously wiped out all of the mediums and wizards from the land because they were
evil in the eyes of Yahweh. Because of his realized hypocrisy, he disguised himself and visited
the medium his servants had sought out in Endor. He told the medium to call upon Samuel and
so she immediately suspected that he is Saul. She knew that her work was extremely illegal by
Saul s court, so she became afraid until he reassured her that he was permitting the act in that
occasion. She then called upon Samuel. Samuel apparently took over the medium s body or
appears in some other way to Saul. So Saul did what he came there for and asked for advise on his
latest predicament. The irritated and disturbed Samuel explained that Yahweh is taking away his
kingdom and giving it to David because of his disobedience of not carrying out the Lord s
punishment against the Amalekites (according to Mc Carter the dead had some way of knowing
God s plans and had access to them). So, Saul fell to the ground in anguish from the news and lack
of energy caused by fasting. The medium quickly attended to him and forced him to eat. Saul and
his servants then left. And there the chapter ends. Yahweh took the kingdom from Saul because

The Strategic Board Game Strategy
The strategic board game, Diplomacy, focuses on wars, but more importantly the act of
negotiating. The players are responsible for forming strategies by both developing and breaking
alliances with their competitors. The game is set in Europe during World War I with most
teams beginning with similar resources. Each player team competes as an either Austria
Hungary, Turkey, Italy, England, France, Russia, or Germany. With at least three home center
game pieces on the board, there are strategic movements in order to control one of the eighteen
supply centers. This involves phases of negotiation prior to movement of the game piece. There
is no factor of luck. The main variable in the game is each team s ability to convince the others
to do what they want. The core game strategy is negotiation. This board game at times mirrors
actual history and educates the players as to the method by which a world war can happen. Both
in the game and in actual life, everyone is envious of England because of its location and
resources as well as having a developed army. Russia Germany and France are potential threats.
Many of the alliances that occurred during World War Idid not actually happen in our game of
Diplomacy. There were several shocking twists and turns. In our game, Italy and Russia stayed
rather benign and non engaging. They moved some pieces out of their countries; however, they
primarily just protected their home countries. Germany, just as in a real life map, is

America s Military Presence Is Necessary Overseas
The protection of citizens lives, foreign or domestic, is a critical necessity. As a result, the military
is the most important organization in a country. In America, for instance, $598 billion is spent each
year on the military ( Federal ). Because this is such an expensive, important, and dangerous topic, it
is often debated. One of the most common arguments is whether or not America s militarypresence
is necessary overseas. Due to its foreign benefits, positive domestic effects, and overall creation of
World Peace, the negative side of the argument is outweighed. America s military presence in
foreign countries is necessary. First of all, any war that could occur would most likely be kept in
foreign nations. On September 11, 2001,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a hostile action did take place, it will also contain most acts of terrorism, violence, and even wars
in the foreign countries that are responsible for them. As a result, the citizens of America would
be able to live carefree lives. In addition to foreign affairs, a domestic military presence can be
used to support a foreign military presence. Many natural disasters occur each year in the United
States, and it is important to help those in need. One of the worst natural disasters in America s
history was Hurricane Katrina. By the time Katrina made landfall on August 29, 2005, America s
military was mobilizing for emergency response (Berthelot). The most important benefit of this is
the fact that soldiers save many lives from floodwaters, earthquake shaken regions, and even areas
scorched by wildfires. The military has equipment that regular citizens do not, and this is
demonstrated by the lowered casualty statistics. In addition, the military often helps to rebuild
structures and get the region back on its feet. As a result, individuals are able to continue to enjoy
their lives. The same effects of a domestic presence would occur as a result of a foreign presence.
Foreign citizens would be able to continue their lives even after disasters. America s military also
helps with domestic hostile occurrences. Recently, Ferguson consistently experienced riots and
violence due to the shooting of an African American. The

U.s. Federal Reserve Act
When it comes to the supply of money, different actions are taken to assure stability in our country.
To ensure we are keeping consistent with the loss in value of currency throughout the years, the
Federal Reserve changes either the inflation or the interest rates so that prices will be able to
balance the debt amount. With actions like such, there are purposes sought by the Federal Reserve
Act set toward the Board of Governors and the Federal Open Market Committee...: to promote... the
goals of maximum employment, stable prices, and moderate long term interest rates (Federal
Reserve). These are a matter of acts under the monetary policy. However, today in America, we are
still suffering from the continuous increase in our national debt, a problem that has been growing
since the start of the new century. To be more precise in the way the monetary policy works, it is
under three implements that define its functions: open market operations, changes in the discount
rate, and changes in the required reserve ratio. These are the functions that provide the Federal
Reserves (the Fed) the ability to change the moneysupply in our economy. It is a matter of actions
taken to maintain our country in the best way possible and, of course, stability comes with a price.
With things like supporting our troops in other countries, like Iraq and Afghanistan, a cut in tax
rates, and increases in overall spending, it adds up to where we have spent more than we have

Essay on My Grandmother
My Grandmother
This poem explores the relationship between the speaker and her grandmother. It focuses on the
remorse and guilt she felt and perhaps does still feel about the way she behaved towards her on
one occasion, and can be seen as an attempt to exorcise this.
The poem is divided into four parts: the first stanza describes her grandmother working in the shop;
the second the incident which causes her guilt; the third stanza shows her in retirement. In the final
stanza, after her grandmother has died, the speaker reflects on herself and her grandmother s life.

is bound up with the antiques even after she no longer keeps the shop. They accompany her to the
long, narrow room in which she essentially waits to die. This third stanza is full of unattractive

Research Paper On Glossophobia
Glossophobia a fear of public speaking is pretty common amongst people. Almost everyone
suffers from the fear of not performing well in front of others, at least to some degree. It is only
natural to feel scared because humans are wired to be concerned about what others think about
us. We get a sense of importance when we know other people admire and acknowledge the work
that we do. A perfect example of this is how and why we post the coolest things we do on
Facebook. We post things to please the audience of our posts. Or another way to put it, we post
on Facebook because we seek the validation of people viewing our Facebook profiles. This does
not necessarily build our confidence, but it simply goes to show that we all care about what
everyone else thinks about us, and that is not necessarily a negative quality. It is only natural to
feel so. In fact it is those people who care about what people think about them who end up being

Reflection On Learning Experience
Session 1 I am thinking about all of the areas of improvement I have the opportunity to take
advantage of during my time at my practicum. My field instructor reviews all of my call logs,
which at first I was unsure as to why she would take so much tie during supervision instead of
focusing on something else. I now understand that in order to provide proper feedback and help
me grow as a social worker, it is important she read my call notes. While my field instructor is
reviewing my call notes, I have time to reflect on my calls. This helps me to think back on how I
handle the situation and formulate possible areas for growth. I am feelingsomewhat unsure of my
relationship with my field instructor after this supervision meeting. Although she provides great
feedback, I still am learningher style and trying to understand where I may stand with her. I think
I am very lucky however, I have heard some of my classmates talk about struggles or
disagreements with their field instructor, and I have not experienced this. I am also feeling
thankful for my education, as I feel it has prepared me to stand out as a student in my practicum.
Each time I have a moment where I realize or understand how I could have betterhandled a
situation with a caller, I am able to process that in my brain and use it next time I am on the
lines. Using my journal during supervision sessions really helps with this matter; I am able to
review suggestions from my field instructor before my shifts. Since I have identified being
unsure of my relationship with my field instructor, I will continue to be conscious of ques from
her, this will help me gain a better grasp of our relationship. I welcome feedback from my field
instructor in all areas. She is my mentor and I can tell she is truly interested in helping me grow
as a professional. I very much enjoy the fact that she starts all of her feedback by giving positive,
strengths before providing areas for growth. This allows me to see that I have things I am very
good at and that I am effectively learning. It also shows me that I am a student and have areas
where I can strengthen my skills. I am not sure I am overly sensitive to suggestions from my field
instructor.

Similarities Between Egypt And Greek Art
Over the years of art history, there are many great empires that we think of and two of those were
ancient Greek and Egyptian. When talking about Greek and Egyptian art history, it is the sculptures
that come to mind when you are comparing and contrasting artworks. Egyptian art and Greek art
both had mesmerizing sculptures but Egyptian art was more oriented towards religion and Greek
art was more focused on philosophy. The Egyptian statueof the Menkaure and a Queen was similar
to the Greek statue of Metropolitan Kouros in their posture but both of these statues also had many
differences. Menkaure and a queen statue was created from an unusual stone and the statue was
discovered in Menkaure s valley temple. The sculpturehas a hard texture and because of the time
consuming task of polishing this sculpture was never completely polished. So, the sculpture is
greywacke and has traces of red paint on king s face, ears and neck because male figures were
traditionally painted red and there are traces of black in queen s hair. The sculpture itself is 54 ВЅ
inches in height and is displayed in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Metropolitan Kouros was
created from marble which seems like it has a rough and hard texture. The statue is 6 feet in height
and is displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.

Evaluation Of Proposed Design And Necessary Corrective Action
Assignment No: 1
Title :
Review of proposed design and necessary corrective action is taking to consider and submit
publication/presentation details with review report.
Objectives :
1.Constructing a semantic taxonomy for the land cover classification of satellite images.
2.Classifying satellite images according to their types such as vegetation, building, water etc.
3.Implementing MapReduce for processing large amount of data (Satellite Images).
Introduction :
Satellite images play a major role in today s world in real time event detection. These events may
vary from changing landforms, depleting glaciers to catastrophic events like earthquakes, tsunamis
and sand storms. The drastic changes after such events need to be monitored and capturing satellite
images for such event detection can be helpful. The idea behind this project is to detect the
changing landforms across different vegetations, store this data, classify it on the basis of certain
specified parameters and retrieve the classified data using well defined mechanisms. Segmentation
and event detection is highly scalable in satellite images. With the increasing need to have real
time, classified data for specific applications there is an increasing need to store this chunk of data
in a distributed environment to have better access. The basic idea to is to capture the satellite
images and store them in a distributed environment. The environment to be chosen is Hadoop

Zero Hour Literary Analysis
Did you ever wonder how it would feel to be invaded? Or what aliens are like, maybe even how
would life be if they came to Earth? H.G. Wells from The War of the Worlds and Ray Bradbury of
Zero Hour explore how these unusual appearances of these creatures changed everything about
these two characters lives.
In the book Zero Hour Mink seems to go through some challenges because of an alien named
Drill . Mink is a little girl, that had little clue of what she was getting herself into. They couldn t
figure a way to attack. Drill says in order to make a good fight you got to have a new way of
surprising people. And they couldn t figure a way to surprise Earth (Bradbury 250) Mink is
explaining to her mother how Drill will invade earth, how kids are their ticket to another planet that

The Pathophysiology Of Mark s Presenting Compliant
Throughout a person s life milestones, there are expected physical, psychosocial and cognitive
developments in relation to health aspects within certain age groups. For an instance, a school
aged boy would respond to their diagnosis and treatment very differently to a fully grown man.
At the age of 8, a child often experiences a shift from the pre operational thought when they were
pre schoolers to concrete operational thought. Mark who is 8 years old was undergoes an
appendectomy and been diagnosed with a gangrenous perforated appendix with peritonitis. This
essay will be describing the pathophysiology of Mark s presenting compliant and also evaluating
on the nursing role to deliver developmentally appropriate nursing care with the focus on Mark s
growth and developmental stage, his family centred care and the effects of hospitalization on mark
and his family. Mark s presenting complaint was associated to the digestive system function failure.
All living organisms are able to grow, develop and reproduce through the consumptions and
supplements of essential nutrients and vitamins that help flourishing their bodies. This is done by
the food ingestion, which is taking in food or drink through the mouth, then these are passed to the
digestive system where food is processed into forms that the body can easily utilised. Hence,
obstruction to this system can cause enormously harm to the body (Peate Gormley Fleming, 2014).
The digestive system consists of many organs, in

Analysis Of Kathryn Stockett s The Help

The Help by Kathryn Stockett
Title
The significance of the title is not only to summarize what the book is about, but it is also about
the title of the book inside the book. It s simple, yet to the point.
The author most likely chose this title because it is simplistic yet jam packed with meaning. Not
only does it refer to black southern maids working for whites, but it is also the title of the book
Aibileen, Skeeter, and Minny create.
The Help is yet again about black maids, who are known as the help. This term was very common
because almost everyone had maids working for them in the 1960s. The Help is not just about
maids, it is also about the owners who treated their maids as inferiors. Equality was not a leading
factor during this time period.
Author
Kathryn Stockett, the author of The Help, born in 1969, was raised in Jackson Mississippi. She
graduated from the University of Alabama and earned her degree in English as well as creative
writing. Later on, she moved to New York City and worked in magazine publishing as well as
marketing. Now Kathryn Stockett lives in Atlanta with her husband and daughter.
To my surprise, Kathryn s family had a maid named Demetrie when she was younger. At the age of
twenty eight, Demetrie cooked and cleaned for the family. Much like Minny, Demetrie married an
abusive alcoholic. In many ways, Demetrie is also like Aibileen, Kathryn adored her. Kathryn

The Effects of Depth on Algal Growth in the Biscayne Bay.
Introduction
Biscayne Bay is located in South Florida and is home to many terrestrial and aquatic organisms.
Over the years, humans have populated the land around Biscayne Bay, which has greatly altered
the water quality. In a study done in 2011, anthropogenic affects in the bay were measured by
testing for an overabundance of nutrients in the water (Carey et al, 2011). This is just one of the
many studies that shows how and why the Biscayne Bay is affected by human activities. A major
concern with the increase in nutrient to the water is that it leads to an accumulation of algae, which
ultimately causes a surge in algal bloom (Levinton, 2013).
Many studies around the world show the detrimental affects of harmful algal blooms, or HAB
for short, and directly link the runoff of nutrients into the water as the key contributor to its
frequency. An example of a study done in estuaries around New York showed that an increase in
macro green algae, which is also found in Biscayne Bay, increases the growth of several other
forms of harmful algae (Tang, 2011). In a more recent study conducted in 2013, Biscayne Bay
was shown to have an increase in green macro algal blooms that are also linked to nutrient runoff
in the bay and smother the sea grass habitats (Vides et al, 2013). Biscayne Bay is said to hold
nutrient rich sediment (Carnehan et al., 2009).
Algal blooms are responsible

1.The mammalian OR is part of the GPCR superfamily, while the topological distinct family of
transmembrane proteins defines the insect OR. The insect OR is comprised of a heteromeric
complex of a conventional odor ligand binding receptor and an OR83b. The N terminus for the
mammalian OR is located extracellularly while it is located intracellularly for the insect OR. The C

which involves a G protein and AC3, is activated. This will produce a second messenger, cyclic
AMP. Because cAMP binds to cyclic nucleotide gated (CNG) channel, cations Na+ and Ca2+ will
be in abundance. This will depolarize the cell membrane. At this stage the Ca2+ Ca2+ can activate
dependent Cl channel as well. Olfactory sensory neurons (OSNs) will have high concentrations of

Analysis Of On Dumpster Diving Essay
English 101 Final Essay Q1: Discuss the contemporary issues in every essay A) A contemporary
problem raised in On Dumpster Diving by Lars Eighner Is the amount of wealth spent by
consumers, and the effect of that. Consumers spend too much money and waste even more
when they throw food and clothing away. In the essay he explains the way of life as an
scavenger and how to demonstrate how people are able to live by the minimal resources
although most consumers continue to buy things they do not need and continue to waste
resources that may be valuable to others. Aside from food, he additionally describes the
emotional impact that living out of a dumpster can have on a person. He describes finding sad
things such as abandoned teddy bears, shredded wedding books, and pets lying in state. Seeing
the pets makes him think about his dog Lizbeth and how she is likely to end up with a dumpster
as her final resting place, as Eighner does not see himself having a place for her before she
passes on. Rummaging causes Eighner to consider how much individuals underestimate, including
the way that they can purchase something new to replace something old that they have discarded.
He feels frustrated because of the individuals who don t have that extravagance. B) Our Wall by

Race, Ethnicity, Art and Film Essay
This paper tries to analyze race relations, ethnicity and how art and film relates to these social
issues in their cultural context. Art and film have played vital roles in advocating for a society
free of ethnicity and racism. Using vivid descriptions and evidence of both text and a movie this
paper seeks to relate accordingly the concerned issues and factors affecting these social vices. It
will demonstrate raceand ethnic tendencies in diverse cultural contexts.
As a demographic phenomenon, ethnicity is belonging to a specific ethnic group possessing distinct
culture and common origin. This is called inscriptive group identity. According to Said Edward

The colonial state activated heightened and enlarged ethnicity in a variety of ways. They brought
about a diverse wider group of interaction into competition, the colonies and the administrative
union started localizing administration. They started strengthening and enlarging ethnic allegiances
which increased ethnic tensions. In addition, they actively promoted preferential treatment of
ethnic groups as a matter of policy by establishing systems of collaboration.
Social Darwinism is a socialist theory that tries to understand the reason behind colonization and
other social vices like ethnicity. It was used to justify numerous exploits which we classify as
dubious moral values today. For instance doctors were responsible for assisting to die. Social
Darwinism states that people especially colonizers failed to justify the reason why they
forcefully seized land and resources from weaker natives. This is also illustrated in the military
affairs where the strongest military will win. The application of social Darwinism has since
provided the justification for more exploitative forms of social capitalism where workers are
usually paid less and yet they have worked for many hours.
It also tries to explain the reasoning behind slavery and colonization. However, not all social
Darwinism is negative. There are positive results of social Darwinism.

Long Walk Research Paper
The Long Walk was the forced removal of the Navajo people, which began in January 1864 in the
Arizona and New Mexico states. It was hardly recognized by Americans at the time because of the
Civil War and the slavery issues that were so much more important in the North and South part of
the country. The Long Walk is the Navajo Nation s own Trail of Tears
. More than 8,500 Navajo
men, women, and children were forced to relocate to an internment camp in New Mexicocalled the
Bosque Redondo Reservation. The Navajo and some Apache were gathered from Arizona and
New Mexico and had to walk between 375 498 miles depending on which route they took (Remley,
pg 230). Along the way, about 200 people died. Once there the military found that twice the number
of people that they expected came.
For the Navajo people today, it is said that the Long Walk was one of the hardest times in their
history. The Long Walk started in early spring of 1864 and did not end until 1868. At first, it was
the Spaniards who wanted the vast amount of Navajo land hoping to find gold there. Americans

crossings. The bodies were left behind for the coyotes that were trailing behind the group. Also,
the Navajo had to deal with the depression of having watched their homes completely destroyed
and burned. It was a very depressing journey. The Navajo were given food that was new to their
stomach and digestive tracts. They were not used to eating such foods and this also caused them
to feel ill. A lot of the food was filled with bacteria and disease killing a handful of people.

Analytical Essay On Measure For Measure
Measure for Measure by William Shakespeare is a play about two lovers who bear a child out of
wedlock during an era when it was considered illegal. Even though the play centers around the
two characters of Claudio and Juliet, they are hardly ever seen. Measure for Measure is a
comedic play which underscores moral dilemmas in a Christian world. Comedic features such as;
the Duke disguising himself as a common friar in the play, which is how the play starts to develop
inner problems, and unsavory characters are introduced. Practical jokes are used within the play to
lighten the tragedy of Claudio being executed. Angelo is the temporary leader while the Duke is

Therefore, we beg to question what is true? What is true in the play is in the thickening of the plot
and the characters itself. The characters in Measure for Measure have chosen to challenge culture,
law, and standing before God in an effort to experience temptation. The state, the family, and the
individual are at odds with each other. Isabella and her group believe in letting people decide
how they want to live, whereas the government under Angelo s new reign; believe in freedoms
that need to be regulated. The law pertains to justice, mercy, and significance of title. Is there a
significance of title for what is legal and illegal for the characters in the play? Is Angelo allowed
to freely have premarital relations and not a commoner like Claudio and Juliet? The hope for
mercy is at question here for what is deemed to be true. The questioning of truth in Measure for

Sociology Of Society And Human Behaviour
Sociology is the study of society and human behaviour. Within sociology there are three major
perspectives. These include the Functionalist, Conflict or Marxist and symbolic Interactionist
perspectives. Functionalism and Marxism have a number of characteristics in common and both
explains society as a whole, so they are known as macro theories. Interactionism focuses on small
scale interaction rather than society as a whole so this is known as micro theory (Haralambos and
Holborn 2000). The author of this essay will examine these perspectives of sociologythat claims to
explain how the aspects of society work. This assignment will discuss conflict perspective or
Marxism in depth.
Functionalism developed by the American sociologist Talcott Parsons in the 20th century, suggests
that various parts of society are interrelated and taken together, they form a complete system.
Haralambos and Holborn (2000) stated that, different parts of the society are interrelated and taken
together to form a complete system. To understand society as a whole the functionalist would
examine part of society such as family or religion like the biologist who examine the parts of a body
to analyse its contribution to the maintenance of the human organism. In functionalism each aspect
of society contributes to societies functioning as a whole. The government provides education for

In his masterpiece Master Harold and the boys, Athol Fugard has journeyed deep into sensitive
issues including racism and growing up, without sacrificing the high technical standard that often

undoubtedly deserves inclusion in any English curriculum, with the work s characterization,

Thematically, Master Harold and the boys covers two sensitive and important issues, which are key
to any education program. The first theme, which must be examined, is that of white superiority
and racial segregation, instigated by the Apartheid system. Fugard, through the course of the play,
makes it clear in subtle references that the white race is considered to be superior to the black in
South African society. One such subtle reference is made when Hally says: Don t try to be clever,
Sam. It doesn t suit you. (35). As the climax develops,
Fugard begins to display this in more blatant dialogue, with lines such as He s a white man and
that s good enough for you (53), reflecting the prejudice and segregation that plagued society at
that time. A further example of Fugard s references to this issue of white supremacy is depicted
when Sam attempts to convey to Hally the simple beauty of ballroom dancing, yet Hally
dismisses it as mentally retarded (39) and the culture of a primitive black society (43). It is not
until he puts aside this fa ade provided by white ideology that he can grasp the true worth of Sam s
comments.
The second major theme in the work is that of growing up, and doing this with the traps of
society. Hally is a boy at the crossroads of childhood and manhood, and the opinions and ideals he
learns at this point will likely shape the rest of his life. The society of white

response to the company trying to sustain its present levels of product production and customer
satisfaction despite now employing only three quarters of the work force it formally had.
Joseph is working longer hours, thus spending less time with his family and getting less sleep.
His general impression of his job (employee satisfaction) is quickly dropping. All this contributes
to his decreasing quality of work. Thankfully, after a few months, Joseph s good friend Bill (who

Using A Compound Microscope Lab Report

Using a Compound Microscope Lab Report E Period
Abstract
The purpose of this lab is to learn about the parts and uses of a compound microscope. It is also to
learn how to properly use and take care of the microscope. This lab showed me what materials and
parts of the microscope I should use when examining an object.
Introduction
The microscope was invented by a father and son, Hans and Zaccharias Janssen. They were once
looking at the lens of a magnifying glass and decided to put the lenses in a tube. When they
looked through the tube, they noticed that the object underneath the magnifying lenses, was
enlarged. That was the first invention of the compound microscope. Overtime, more
advancements and improvements were made by other scientists to this microscope (1.
microscope microscope.org). A scientist that contributed to the cell theory is Robert Hooke.
Robert Hooke was the first person to use the word cell to describe the basic unit of life. He was
also known for his observations of thinly sliced cork. Robert Brown contributed to the cell theory
by discovering the nucleus of a plant cell (2. brighthub.com). The scientist Schleiden, made the
statement about cells that all plant tissues were made up of cells and that cells are the basic
building blocks of all plants. Schwann discovered that both plants and animals are made up of cells.

steps holding a sword with a blade that glimmered in a translucent fashion. A wave of fear and
nausea coursed through Britta. She started to reach for the necklace to break the connection. A
shout echoed down the stairs, Drakar! Leave her to me. He sheathed his weapon and turned

Research And Development Cost Analysis
Today, companies are increasing their spending on research and development more than ever
before. Research and development costs are the costs that a company incurs to either improve its
existing products and processes, or develop entirely new endeavors. Thus, as research and
development costs are now inevitable for businesses in order to beat out competitors, it is important
to understand the accounting treatment for these costs under the guidance of both GAAP and IFRS.
Both research and development costs are expensed as incurred under GAAP; however, there is
further guidance regarding the accounting treatment of software development that allows for
possible capitalization of related development costs. A report issued by PWC states that,... Show

18). Once these criteria are met, development costs can then be capitalized and amortized over a
period of time and as a result, would show the recognition of the continuous benefit from the
development costs that contributed to the asset.
An important point for companies that are following IFRS guidelines here is to differentiate
between costs that are related to research activities and those related to development activities, since
they require different treatments. According to KPMG, the definition of what constitutes research
costs versus development costs is very similar between IFRS and GAAP; however, neither provides
a clear definition that easily differentiates the two categories (IFRS, 2017). Because of the different
accounting treatment required, it is imperative that a company develops processes and controls that
allow the distinction to be made based on the nature of different activities. This ensures the most
accurate representation of research and development costs presented in the financial statements of
an entity.
The previously discussed guidance is pertaining to intangible assets that were developed by the
entity itself; there is separate guidance regarding research and development costs related to
intangible assets obtained through the acquisition of another company. Under GAAP, capitalization
depends on both the type of acquisition,

Cryptography and the Issue of Internet Security Essay...
High level encryption or cryptography is used in a number of applications ranging from those which
impact national security to those which are more mundane. Essentially, cryptography is the
methodology of encoding information so that one s privacy is ensured. This is particularly
important when it comes to transactionswhich occur over the Internet. The risk of individuals
gaining access to personal informationor information which is critical to a country or a nation over
the Internet is a very real one. The practice of cryptography lessens the likelihood of this happening.
Part A Identification and Description of the Issue
A greater and greater percentage of the world population is gaining access to the Internet and

We transmit and receive a massive amount of information through the Internet which by its very
nature is insecure and wild and free.
Some information we transmit and receive through the Internet is trivial, other is critical from
either a personal, business or national perspective. Without some form of encryption this
information could not only fall into the wrong hands but it could also be read and manipulated by
those who intercepted it. This, according to the type of information, could be disastrous from either
a personal, business, or national perspective. It could be presumed that intellectual property which
currently belongs to its Creator would be freely disseminated around the globe with no practical
way to control who saw it or how they utilized it (anonymous, http://www.cs.brown.edu/).
Part D Proposed Solutions
There are two possible solutions to the security of data on the Internet. These are TCP/IP and
Cryptography. TCP/IP sessions can be captured, however, by unauthorized personnel using devises
such as IP packet sniffers (Computer Reseller News PG). Cryptography, on the other hand, provides
a single technology which has the potential to address all of the above criteria to ensure safe
Internet transactions.
The software provided by Hewlett Packard, VerSecure, offers an excellent and economical solution
to the problem of data security on the Internet (M2 Press

Characterisation Of Crooks
Of Mice and Men, set in 1930 s America is a fictional novella about the plight of ranch workers
during the Great Depression. One of the central themes in this piece is loneliness, and Crooks
could be viewed as the most isolated character in the novella. The character of Crooks is
enhanced by him being a man of colour, making him a victim of prejudice and racism. Steinbeck
uses structure in of Mice and Men to present Crooks as an intriguing character. The reader doesn
t meet Crooks properly until Chapter 4 but hear of him through the other ranch workers, so they
re forced to judge Crooks even before anything is known about him in detail. Steinbeck does this
to stress the prejudice towards people of colour in the 1930 s and how they would be judged by
skin not personality. In chapter two, the reader hears of Crooks in the conversation between
Candy and George, as they discuss the boss s anger at George s and Lennie s late arrival to the
ranch. Candy says the boss gave the stable buck hell , and justifies the action by replying that the...

One example of this is how after Lennie enters Crooks shed, Crooks talks about how Lennie s

easy life that works best for them. The island hasn t always been the way it is today, members
have created a community that is very integrated. The community hold over the members is strong
and they all know what it means to be a member on the island. Border Patrol on the island is very

Servant Leadership At United Service Automobile...
As with the companies in the case studies, United Service Automobile Association (USAA)
illustrates different facets of servant leadership (Northouse, 2013, p.236). The company displays
servant leadership based on a mixture of a few of the ten characteristics of servant leadership
(Spears, 2002) and the four of the seven servant leadershipbehaviors (Liden, Wayne, et al. s, 2008).
The characteristics are empathy and listening. The behaviors displayed are putting followers first,
helping followers grow and succeed, behaving ethically, and creating value for the community.
Servant leadership is seen in USAA from the creation of the company in 1922 to present.
USAA was started on the basis of empathy. Empathy is standing in the shoes of another person
and attempting to see the world from that person s point of view (p. 221). This was displayed
when 25 Army officers agreed to insure each other s vehicles when no one else would. The felt
the heartache of not being able to find anyone to insure their automobile, so after discussing the
issue with each other they came up with a way to insure each other to drive within the legal
perimeters of the law. These Army officers started the company for personal reasons and now
USAA provides services and products to over 10 million members (n.d, 2014). The company is
more than just an automobile insurance company. They provide a variety of services that include:
insurance, banking, investing, real estate, retirement planning, health

Social Support P4
Social Support:
Social Support means having emotional support from people that you know, such as family, close
friends and your birthing partner. They can support you using approval, praise, and physical
/psychological comfort. For example, if the client has antenatal depression, social support from the
healthcare professionals would include being referred to counselling, generally being there to talk
to and listen to and give advice, and reassure them.
Social support in general is important as health professionals like midwifes and nurses will need to
give the clients social support throughout their illness/pregnancy. This provides emotional security
to the clients and helps them know that people are there for them throughout their pregnancy, ...

Physical safety is especially important for pregnant women, as there is an unborn baby in their
womb. One way of keeping clients physically safe is after having blood taken, or injections
given, to use sterile needles, and then only use them once and dispose of them straight away.
This is so the client does not get infected; throwing the needle away will stop infection spreading
and stop it from accidentally piercing someone else s skin. Another way of keeping clients
physically safe is, for example, if the floor is wet and slippery, either dry it up or put up a wet
floor sign. Otherwise, a pregnant lady could slip and injure herself or her baby. Also, an
example is on higher floors, if the antenatal ward is on a high floor, windows should only open
slightly. This is so nobody can fall out of the window and seriously injure themselves. Hygiene is
also an important physical life quality factor, because if health professionals (or clients) have
poor hygiene, diseases could be spread throughout the ward and hospital. Ways for the
professionals to keep hygienic is washing and sanitising their hands before coming into contact
with the client. This stops spreading diseases around and also stops infections going into the client
if they are using needles or syringes. For the clients to keep hygienic there are hand sanitizers in
the ward for them to use. Also, on every floor there are

Fat Loss Persuasive Speech
We ve all heard of foods to avoid to help us win over the battle of the bulge. We ve also heard of
foods to eat to accelerate fat loss. These so called superfoods boost our metabolisms to facilitate a
faster calorie burn. Eggs, oatmeal, apples, fish and beans are just some of the foods that fall under
this category.
Aside from these solid foods that promote fat loss, there are also weight loss drinks that accomplish
the same task. Instead of carbonated beverages or sugar saturated processed juice drinks, these
weight loss drinks curb your cravings and help control appetite while boosting metabolism for a
greater fat burn. If you re currently on a soda drinking spree, it s about time you start replacing this

Milk. Got milk? You just might have to. Milk has calcium that increases fat breakdown in cells.
Besides, it also contains protein that helps keep a person feel full for longer periods of time.
Don t make this an excuse to down gallons upon gallons of this delicious beverage, however. Just
adding milk to your diet can help burn 30% of body fat on the average. Maker sure that you choose
skim or fat free milk when you re doing your grocery shopping.
4. Smoothies with yogurt. Whether you re preparing fruit or green smoothies, adding low fat or
reduced fat yogurt into this delicious mixture not only kills your cravings for more food, but also
reduces belly fat by as much as 70%! The thickness of the beverage can account for this, plus the
fiber in the fruits and vegetables. But the calcium in yogurt also helps break down fat. If you still
want to add more sweetness to your smoothie, use honey instead of sugar.
5. Grapefruit juice. Researchers don t really know why, but perhaps the acidity in grapefruit juice
slows down digestion and helps one feel full for longer. A study showed that those who consumed
grapefruit lost an average of four pounds in three months. Take note that what is referred to here is
natural grapefruit juice that you have squeezed yourself and not packaged varieties. Aside from
grapefruit juice, naturally squeezed fruit and vegetable juices are also other weight loss drinks that

Ethics Of Embryos
Embryo gene modification is a very controversial topic. Some people believe that it could
potentially provide a valuable way to decrease the chances of genetic diseases at birth, whereas
others think that it could lead to unethical uses such as designer babies . In this essay, I will
expand on the arguments put forward by different people concerning their views on genetic
manipulation, and I will also attempt to put into brief the broad topic of geneediting and artificial
fertilisation. The UK HumanFertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) has recently made a
decision to give scientists in London permission to genetically edit spare human embryos from
women who have undergone IVF. The scientists want to make some genes in leftover... Show more

not many people seemed to be aware of the massive decision that had taken place, which could
very well affect them in the future. The next question I asked got much more variety of answers
than the last one. I asked: Do you think that gene manipulation could potentially be considered

Examination of Cultural Diversity in America Essay
Cultural Diversity in America: Examination of African Americans and Asian Americans Many
ethnic groups reside and persist in America. Minority groups are misunderstood and undervalued in
today s society. There are many cultures, history, social relations, religious traditions, and linguistic
aspects enduring in our country because of our abundant diversity. Two minority groups that are
misconstrued are African Americans and Asian Americans. These two groups of people have many
differences, but also have a few commonalities. African Americans and Asian Americans influence

As time elapsed de jure segregation, also known as the Jim Crow system, began in the South
that replaced slavery in the South. According to Healey (2012), Under segregation, the minority
group is physically and socially separated from the dominant group and consigned to an inferior
position in virtually every area of social life (p. 182). Under state and local laws, African
Americans were considered inferior to Caucasians. All aspects of life were included in segregation
such as schools, restrooms, parks, stores, and any public facility. The civil rights movement began
to eliminate laws based on racial segregation. In 1954, the Supreme Court ruled in Brown v. Board
of Education of Topeka that separate facilities are unequal; therefore, the laws were
unconstitutional, which abolished de jure segregation (Healey, 2012, p. 233). During the civil
rights movement there were many influential leaders such as Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King
Jr. promoting nonviolent protests. Finally, in 1964 United States Congress passed the Civil Rights
Act of 1964, outlawing discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, or sex. This
act was only the beginning as our nation is still trying to eliminate discrimination completely. These
important historical events have influenced past and current African Americans. Asian

Contract Law
Contract is an agreement between two or more competent parties in which an offer is made and
accepted, and each party benefits. No contract can come into being unless the following features
exist: an actual offer, an acceptance, consideration (this means that each party will contribute
something of a material value to the bargain) and an intention to create legal relations. The
agreement can be formal, informal, written, or just plain understood. (a) For a contract to exist
the offer must be made and then accepted. An offer may be defined as a statement of the terms
put forward as the basis of the bargain which carries with it a promise, express or implied, to
adhere to the terms. A legally binding offer will include clearly stated... Show more content on

Counter offer has an effect of canceling the original offer and so the original offeror can decide
whether to sell it to somebody else at the price he has stated and the terms of the original offer.
To conclude it can be stated that Bernard s letter was not a mere enquiry of negotiation, but a
counter offer, which Anton didn t accept. Therefore there was no contract between Anton and
Bernard and Anton was free to sell the boat to Celine. However from the other point of view, it
can be argued that Bernard s phrase that he is willing to accept Anton s offer identifies that he is
just asking some further information and tests out whether further negotiation with Anton is
possible. This means that the original offer was not destroyed, but due to the fact that his reply
was vague it can be considered not enforceable, as offerees should explain them clearly as well
as the offerors. Therefore no contract took place in this situation. (b) In this scenario Bernard
replied by return of post, and accepted Anton s original offer. Usually, communication is effective
only when it reaches the offeror or the offeror s place of business. However, Postal rule is a well
known legal principle in contract law. The postal rule of acceptance of an offer became entrenched
in the common law of contact in the English courts and therefore in the Australia courts during the
nineteenth century. And the postal rule is an exception to the general rules of contract law in

Public Enemy Case Study Essay
Public Enemy is a very talented, and well rounded group of football players: I have had the
opportunity playing with them, and against them for some time now. With a combined record of

championships. With that being said, even in the games they have lost, somehow they manage
to display extreme amounts of resiliency. Competing solely in the relevant sports complex
league, Public Enemy has made a name for themselves in this county and in many others. It is
because of this that teams are drawn to compete in the relevant league which is hosted 4 times a
year with a team entry fee of $450. Even with teams coming from all over the state; Public
Enemy has still managed to remain on the top. So, talent and skill is not in question when it
comes to Public Enemy being ready to compete nationally. Unfortunately, the financials might be
a concern. The overall cost is broken down into 5 total sections: Entry Fee, flight to, flight from,
car rental, and the cost of room/board. The entry fee when divided by the 16 player team comes
to $29 per player, car rental fee divided by the same number comes to $42 bringing the total per
player cost to around $71. Using the same formula to determine the per player amount for the
remaining cost groups: the total cost per player was found, $98 for room and board, $280 for the...

reasons why prisons have increased such as the Prison Industrial Complex in which she explains

throughout the book. In chapter two, slavery, civil rights, and abolitionist perspectives toward
prison,, Davis provides a connection of slavery and prison institutions. She provides an insight
in a way that I have never thought about prisons before. Davis reflects back on history and
explains how slavery has not ended yet but has change. She explains how even though slavery is
abolition. before slavery was normal just how prisons are normal to us. Overtime, we may change
our views about prisons and come to the conclusion to abolish prisons. In chapter three,
imprisonment and reform, Davis explains the means of imprisonment and what reform has to do
with it. Davis argues that prisons are obsolete because they are undemocratic because they take
away human rights such as the 13th amendment. She argues that a democracy would not need
prisons and many social problems would be fix. Prisons are a way of social control in which exploits

  • 4. Blood Theme Of Blood In Macbeth Blood Signifying Honor, Betrayal, and Guilt in Macbeth Blood is usually considered to be something related to abhorrence and wrongdoing. However, in the play Macbeth, Shakespeare associates blood with a variety of different atmospheres. Ideas of guilt, betrayal, and honor are established in this tragedy with the use of this symbolism. Blood and bloodiness can be traced all throughout the drama signifying these ideas. Although the uses of blood produce many different effects, all are used to symbolize death. All throughout Macbeth, Shakespeare uses the motif of blood to establish the themes of honor, betrayal, and his character s constant guilt. Blood is seen all throughout Macbeth and is used in a few instances to create the theme of honor between Shakespeare s characters. In the beginning of the play, one of the first characters introduced is a bloody captain. Shakespeare uses this blood here, however, not to symbolize something negative, but to signify victory after battle. In the fight against the Thane of Cawdor, the Captain who happens to be covered in blood is told, So well thy words become thee as thy wounds:/ They smack of honor both (1.2.47 48). This man covered in blood is used here to exemplify the victory of the battle that was just won. Macbeth s success in battle is also represented by this symbol of blood further in this scene when the Captain boasts, For Brave Macbeth (well he deserves that name), / Disdaining Fortune, with his brandished steel, / Which ... • 6. My Hidden Quality Is That I Enjoy Taking Care Of Newborns,... Elvira Heidinger My hidden quality is that I enjoy taking care of newborns, toddlers or elderlies. Usually, I am a very introverted person and I need a long time to open up to people, but it is different if I am with somebody who needs the help. I have a very good connection to them right from the beginning. Taking care of newborns is something I really enjoy. It is my passion to prepare homemade babyfood and to try to stimulate their senses as much as I can in that early stage of their life. However, I also like to spend time with toddleres. I like to plan activities for them and give the opportunites to learn in a playful way. Children learn every day and it is important to me to give them as much possibilities to learn about the world as possible. It is very easy for me to explain things in their level of communication, and I enjoy to see things from their perspective. I read a lot of lecture about different children pedagogics and it is very fascinating to me how important the first years of life are. If my friends would know about my hidden qualities it could enhance, but also damage the relationship with them. A lot of my friends have already children, who are in a young age. It would defentliy enhance the relationship to them, due to the fact that they would know that I am their if they need a babysitter. • 8. Formalism And Realism In Film Short Critical Essay #3 Option 2 Classical film theories are generally divided into two main camps. They have been categorized as Formalism and Realism. The formalist approach looks at the structure and form of the film. It analyzes the method by which the story materializes and how it forces the viewer to react based on the way it is presented. It incorporates character development, photographic composition, camera movement, set design, editing, etc. to that end. The realist approach scrutinizes how a film represents reality. It is a mechanical reproduction of reality that strives for objectivity and realism. The primary focus is always every day, true to life characters and dilemmas, and the real life situations they are found in. Commonplace themes are the rule. To achieve realism in cinema it was necessary to direct attention to the physical and philosophic problems of ordinary existence. People emerge as victims of forces beyond their control in a world at times seemingly spinning out of control. Although there are also a few similarities, formalism and realism can be shown to offer substantially different approaches to the art of filmmaking and the study of film. Realism is a style of filmmaking that attempts to duplicate the look of objective reality with emphasis on authentic locations and details, long shots, lengthy takes, and a minimum of distortion. Andre Bazin championed cinematic realism. He identifies Realism as a movement of filmmakers who put their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She knew that her work was extremely illegal by Saul s court, so she became afraid until he reassured her that he was permitting the act in that occasion. She then called upon Samuel. Samuel apparently took over the medium s body or appears in some other way to Saul. So Saul did what he came there for and asked for advise on his latest predicament. The irritated and disturbed Samuel explained that Yahweh is taking away his kingdom and giving it to David because of his disobedience of not carrying out the Lord s punishment against the Amalekites (according to Mc Carter the dead had some way of knowing God s plans and had access to them). So, Saul fell to the ground in anguish from the news and lack of energy caused by fasting. The medium quickly attended to him and forced him to eat. Saul and his servants then left. With at least three home center game pieces on the board, there are strategic movements in order to control one of the eighteen supply centers. Many natural disasters occur each year in the United States, and it is important to help those in need. One of the worst natural disasters in America s history was Hurricane Katrina. By the time Katrina made landfall on August 29, 2005, America s military was mobilizing for emergency response (Berthelot). The most important benefit of this is the fact that soldiers save many lives from floodwaters, earthquake shaken regions, and even areas scorched by wildfires. The military has equipment that regular citizens do not, and this is demonstrated by the lowered casualty statistics. In addition, the military often helps to rebuild structures and get the region back on its feet. As a result, individuals are able to continue to enjoy their lives. To ensure we are keeping consistent with the loss in value of currency throughout the years, the Federal Reserve changes either the inflation or the interest rates so that prices will be able to balance the debt amount. With actions like such, there are purposes sought by the Federal Reserve Act set toward the Board of Governors and the Federal Open Market Committee...: to promote... the goals of maximum employment, stable prices, and moderate long term interest rates (Federal Reserve). These are a matter of acts under the monetary policy. However, today in America, we are still suffering from the continuous increase in our national debt, a problem that has been growing since the start of the new century. To be more precise in the way the monetary policy works, it is under three implements that define its functions: open market operations, changes in the discount rate, and changes in the required reserve ratio. These are the functions that provide the Federal Reserves (the Fed) the ability to change the moneysupply in our economy. It is a matter of actions taken to maintain our country in the best way possible and, of course, stability comes with a price. Almost everyone suffers from the fear of not performing well in front of others, at least to some degree. It is only natural to feel scared because humans are wired to be concerned about what others think about us. We get a sense of importance when we know other people admire and acknowledge the work that we do. A perfect example of this is how and why we post the coolest things we do on Facebook. We post things to please the audience of our posts. Or another way to put it, we post on Facebook because we seek the validation of people viewing our Facebook profiles. This does not necessarily build our confidence, but it simply goes to show that we all care about what everyone else thinks about us, and that is not necessarily a negative quality. • 16. Reflection On Learning Experience Session 1 I am thinking about all of the areas of improvement I have the opportunity to take advantage of during my time at my practicum. My field instructor reviews all of my call logs, which at first I was unsure as to why she would take so much tie during supervision instead of focusing on something else. I now understand that in order to provide proper feedback and help me grow as a social worker, it is important she read my call notes. While my field instructor is reviewing my call notes, I have time to reflect on my calls. This helps me to think back on how I handle the situation and formulate possible areas for growth. I am feelingsomewhat unsure of my relationship with my field instructor after this supervision meeting. Although she provides great feedback, I still am learningher style and trying to understand where I may stand with her. I think I am very lucky however, I have heard some of my classmates talk about struggles or disagreements with their field instructor, and I have not experienced this. I am also feeling thankful for my education, as I feel it has prepared me to stand out as a student in my practicum. Each time I have a moment where I realize or understand how I could have betterhandled a situation with a caller, I am able to process that in my brain and use it next time I am on the lines. Using my journal during supervision sessions really helps with this matter; I am able to review suggestions from my field instructor before my shifts. Since I have identified being unsure of my relationship with my field instructor, I will continue to be conscious of ques from her, this will help me gain a better grasp of our relationship. I welcome feedback from my field instructor in all areas. She is my mentor and I can tell she is truly interested in helping me grow as a professional. When talking about Greek and Egyptian art history, it is the sculptures that come to mind when you are comparing and contrasting artworks. Egyptian art and Greek art both had mesmerizing sculptures but Egyptian art was more oriented towards religion and Greek art was more focused on philosophy. It s simple, yet to the point. The author most likely chose this title because it is simplistic yet jam packed with meaning. Not only does it refer to black southern maids working for whites, but it is also the title of the book Aibileen, Skeeter, and Minny create. The Help is yet again about black maids, who are known as the help. This term was very common because almost everyone had maids working for them in the 1960s. The Help is not just about maids, it is also about the owners who treated their maids as inferiors. Equality was not a leading factor during this time period. Author Kathryn Stockett, the author of The Help, born in 1969, was raised in Jackson Mississippi. She graduated from the University of Alabama and earned her degree in English as well as creative writing. Later on, she moved to New York City and worked in magazine publishing as well as marketing. Now Kathryn Stockett lives in Atlanta with her husband and daughter. To my surprise, Kathryn s family had a maid named Demetrie when she was younger. • 25. Effects Of Depth On Algal Growth Lynne Miranda OCB Lab Experiment 04/17/15 The Effects of Depth on Algal Growth in the Biscayne Bay. Introduction Biscayne Bay is located in South Florida and is home to many terrestrial and aquatic organisms. Over the years, humans have populated the land around Biscayne Bay, which has greatly altered the water quality. In a study done in 2011, anthropogenic affects in the bay were measured by testing for an overabundance of nutrients in the water (Carey et al, 2011). This is just one of the many studies that shows how and why the Biscayne Bay is affected by human activities. A major concern with the increase in nutrient to the water is that it leads to an accumulation of algae, which ultimately causes a surge in algal bloom (Levinton, 2013). Many studies around the world show the detrimental affects of harmful algal blooms, or HAB for short, and directly link the runoff of nutrients into the water as the key contributor to its frequency. An example of a study done in estuaries around New York showed that an increase in macro green algae, which is also found in Biscayne Bay, increases the growth of several other forms of harmful algae (Tang, 2011). In a more recent study conducted in 2013, Biscayne Bay was shown to have an increase in green macro algal blooms that are also linked to nutrient runoff in the bay and smother the sea grass habitats (Vides et al, 2013). Biscayne Bay is said to hold nutrient rich sediment (Carnehan et al., 2009). Algal blooms are responsible ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The C terminus is located in the intracellularly in the mammalian OR, while it is located extracellularly in the insect OR. 2.First, odorant compounds bind to an odorant receptor (OR) for mammals. A transduction cascade, which involves a G protein and AC3, is activated. This will produce a second messenger, cyclic AMP. In the essay he explains the way of life as an scavenger and how to demonstrate how people are able to live by the minimal resources although most consumers continue to buy things they do not need and continue to waste resources that may be valuable to others. Aside from food, he additionally describes the emotional impact that living out of a dumpster can have on a person. He describes finding sad things such as abandoned teddy bears, shredded wedding books, and pets lying in state. Seeing the pets makes him think about his dog Lizbeth and how she is likely to end up with a dumpster as her final resting place, as Eighner does not see himself having a place for her before she passes on. Rummaging causes Eighner to consider how much individuals underestimate, including the way that they can purchase something new to replace something old that they have discarded. He feels frustrated because of the individuals who don t have that extravagance. These include the Functionalist, Conflict or Marxist and symbolic Interactionist perspectives. Functionalism and Marxism have a number of characteristics in common and both explains society as a whole, so they are known as macro theories. Interactionism focuses on small scale interaction rather than society as a whole so this is known as micro theory (Haralambos and Holborn 2000). The author of this essay will examine these perspectives of sociologythat claims to explain how the aspects of society work. This assignment will discuss conflict perspective or Marxism in depth. Functionalism developed by the American sociologist Talcott Parsons in the 20th century, suggests that various parts of society are interrelated and taken together, they form a complete system. The first theme, which must be examined, is that of white superiority and racial segregation, instigated by the Apartheid system. Fugard, through the course of the play, makes it clear in subtle references that the white race is considered to be superior to the black in South African society. One such subtle reference is made when Hally says: Don t try to be clever, Sam. It doesn t suit you. (35). As the climax develops, Fugard begins to display this in more blatant dialogue, with lines such as He s a white man and that s good enough for you (53), reflecting the prejudice and segregation that plagued society at that time. A further example of Fugard s references to this issue of white supremacy is depicted when Sam attempts to convey to Hally the simple beauty of ballroom dancing, yet Hally dismisses it as mentally retarded (39) and the culture of a primitive black society (43). • 39. Using A Compound Microscope Lab Report Olivia Silvestri Due: 10/19/15 Using a Compound Microscope Lab Report E Period Abstract The purpose of this lab is to learn about the parts and uses of a compound microscope. It is also to learn how to properly use and take care of the microscope. This lab showed me what materials and parts of the microscope I should use when examining an object. Introduction The microscope was invented by a father and son, Hans and Zaccharias Janssen. They were once looking at the lens of a magnifying glass and decided to put the lenses in a tube. When they looked through the tube, they noticed that the object underneath the magnifying lenses, was enlarged. That was the first invention of the compound microscope. Overtime, more advancements and improvements were made by other scientists to this microscope (1. microscope microscope.org). A scientist that contributed to the cell theory is Robert Hooke. Robert Hooke was the first person to use the word cell to describe the basic unit of life. He was also known for his observations of thinly sliced cork. Robert Brown contributed to the cell theory by discovering the nucleus of a plant cell (2. brighthub.com). The scientist Schleiden, made the statement about cells that all plant tissues were made up of cells and that cells are the basic building blocks of all plants. Schwann discovered that both plants and animals are made up of cells. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The usual disorientation when entering a memory enveloped her but quickly faded. She opened her eyes, and her surroundings appeared as they had before. But now she was alone. At first, doubt clouded her thoughts. In the few times has used the necklace with Gall s supervision, she discovered that the memory world using it seemed more vivid and crisp than when using her innate abilities. But not by much. How different would the memory appear if it was old? She had to leave that question for another time, for the memory residual she was in was still potent, being only from the night before. Footsteps approach from behind. She quickly slipped into the shadows cast by the stairs. A figure rushed past. Dressed in a gray robe, a young girl with straw colored hair stopped and turned to look back the way she came. A dark figure glided down the steps holding a sword with a blade that glimmered in a translucent fashion. A wave of fear and nausea coursed through Britta. She started to reach for the necklace to break the connection. A shout echoed down the stairs, Drakar! Leave her to me. He sheathed his weapon and turned away. Nausea and fear subsided. Another figure came into view, dressed in black. Faline, appearing as she had in Gall s memory, descended the stairs, a crooked smile on her face. • 41. Research And Development Cost Analysis Today, companies are increasing their spending on research and development more than ever before. Research and development costs are the costs that a company incurs to either improve its existing products and processes, or develop entirely new endeavors. Thus, as research and development costs are now inevitable for businesses in order to beat out competitors, it is important to understand the accounting treatment for these costs under the guidance of both GAAP and IFRS. Both research and development costs are expensed as incurred under GAAP; however, there is further guidance regarding the accounting treatment of software development that allows for possible capitalization of related development costs. A report issued by PWC states that,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 18). Once these criteria are met, development costs can then be capitalized and amortized over a period of time and as a result, would show the recognition of the continuous benefit from the development costs that contributed to the asset. An important point for companies that are following IFRS guidelines here is to differentiate between costs that are related to research activities and those related to development activities, since they require different treatments. According to KPMG, the definition of what constitutes research costs versus development costs is very similar between IFRS and GAAP; however, neither provides a clear definition that easily differentiates the two categories (IFRS, 2017). Because of the different accounting treatment required, it is imperative that a company develops processes and controls that allow the distinction to be made based on the nature of different activities. This ensures the most accurate representation of research and development costs presented in the financial statements of an entity. The previously discussed guidance is pertaining to intangible assets that were developed by the entity itself; there is separate guidance regarding research and development costs related to intangible assets obtained through the acquisition of another company. One of the central themes in this piece is loneliness, and Crooks could be viewed as the most isolated character in the novella. The character of Crooks is enhanced by him being a man of colour, making him a victim of prejudice and racism. Steinbeck uses structure in of Mice and Men to present Crooks as an intriguing character. The reader doesn t meet Crooks properly until Chapter 4 but hear of him through the other ranch workers, so they re forced to judge Crooks even before anything is known about him in detail. As with the companies in the case studies, United Service Automobile Association (USAA) illustrates different facets of servant leadership (Northouse, 2013, p.236). The company displays servant leadership based on a mixture of a few of the ten characteristics of servant leadership (Spears, 2002) and the four of the seven servant leadershipbehaviors (Liden, Wayne, et al. s, 2008). The characteristics are empathy and listening. The behaviors displayed are putting followers first, helping followers grow and succeed, behaving ethically, and creating value for the community. Servant leadership is seen in USAA from the creation of the company in 1922 to present. USAA was started on the basis of empathy. Physical safety is especially important for pregnant women, as there is an unborn baby in their womb. One way of keeping clients physically safe is after having blood taken, or injections given, to use sterile needles, and then only use them once and dispose of them straight away. This is so the client does not get infected; throwing the needle away will stop infection spreading and stop it from accidentally piercing someone else s skin. Another way of keeping clients physically safe is, for example, if the floor is wet and slippery, either dry it up or put up a wet floor sign. Otherwise, a pregnant lady could slip and injure herself or her baby. Also, an example is on higher floors, if the antenatal ward is on a high floor, windows should only open slightly. This is so nobody can fall out of the window and seriously injure themselves. Hygiene is also an important physical life quality factor, because if health professionals (or clients) have poor hygiene, diseases could be spread throughout the ward and hospital. Ways for the professionals to keep hygienic is washing and sanitising their hands before coming into contact with the client. This stops spreading diseases around and also stops infections going into the client if they are using needles or syringes. The agreement can be formal, informal, written, or just plain understood. (a) For a contract to exist the offer must be made and then accepted. Therefore there was no contract between Anton and Bernard and Anton was free to sell the boat to Celine. However from the other point of view, it can be argued that Bernard s phrase that he is willing to accept Anton s offer identifies that he is just asking some further information and tests out whether further negotiation with Anton is possible. This means that the original offer was not destroyed, but due to the fact that his reply was vague it can be considered not enforceable, as offerees should explain them clearly as well as the offerors. Therefore no contract took place in this situation. (b) In this scenario Bernard replied by return of post, and accepted Anton s original offer.
