The organization aims to address hunger and promote nutrition education. It will establish a community garden and greenhouse to grow and distribute healthy foods. Volunteers will help with operations and deliveries. The goal is to teach low-income families, especially children, about nutrition and provide them better access to quality foods to improve health outcomes. Plans are outlined for winter production, transportation, volunteers, marketing and following relevant regulations. The hope is to eventually expand this model to other communities facing hunger.

Be Part of the Party to Celebrate the International Year of Pulses: Dry Beans...Alice Henneman
The 68th General Assembly of the United Nations declared 2016 the International Year of Pulses (IYP) "to heighten public awareness of the nutritional benefits of pulses as part of sustainable food production aimed towards food security and nutrition."
World hunger is a crippling crisis which plagues humanity. We are all one people, cosmopolitans. Together we can solve this crisis. The money necessary to end world hunger is nominal at best and cheap in relative reality to the economy. By ending world hunger, a seed will germinate in the throat of greed. Opportunity will blossom where watered. Philanthropy

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

10. Our Inspiration
In the small community of Sandersville, GA, there are almost 800
families that go to bed hungry. In this town there is a food bank
that feeds 600 of these families a year, but does not provide
these families with the nutrition they need.
11. Partner - First Love Kids
● First love kids is a non-profit, 501c3 organization in Washington County in
Sandersville, GA that is providing efforts to feed families.
● They are feeding families by a Senior Box each month recognized by the Golden
Harvest.
● They also provide a weekly pantry and a monthly big box give away to families
● In June 2017- 2018 they were able to provide 3,200 shelf stable meals that have
been delivered to 66 senior citizens in Washington County.
● I am excited to see how we can improve community food banks like mine just by
making sure that they are feeding families food with the good nutrients they need.
