The YMCA of Austin will offer a free Summer Food Program for children thanks to a $35,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation. The program will provide nutritious meals and snacks as well as learning activities for over 16,000 children at eight locations throughout the summer. The goal is to ensure kids have access to healthy food and remain active during the summer months when school is out. The YMCA has previously run this program and aims to serve over 5 million meals nationwide this summer as part of efforts to combat child hunger.
