Queen O, Hannah Z, Haochen Z, DJ L, Matthew Z, Namrata A, and Ms.Vicki.

2. Research and Goal
● Our goal is to reduce food waste in schools by donating leftover
food
● An emistated 1.2 billion dollars is wasted on school lunches
● Over 30.5 million school lunches are served each day; one school
recycled the leftovers and saved over one million dollars
● 5 million dollars are wasted per day
● 40 million in the U.S. struggle with hunger
● 30-40% of the food we grow is wasted each year
● 22 million students depend on free/ low-cost school lunch

3. The Team’s Big Goal
● Our overall goal is to reduce the amount of food waste in schools by
collecting and donating leftover food to local non-profit organizations
● Determine what organization will take the food
● Establish how the food will be transported from the school to the
organization
● Contact local school administrations asking them to partner with us
● Develop a way to educate students, teachers, parents, and the
community surrounding the schools on hunger and food waste
● Compose a campaign to advertise our project to the surrounding
community
