The citrus industry contributed $8.6 billion to Florida's economy in 2015-16, supporting 45,422 jobs. Oranges made up 81.6 million boxes, grapefruit 10.8 million boxes, and specialty fruit 1.8 million boxes. Direct effects accounted for 30% of industry output and 29% of jobs, while indirect and induced effects accounted for the remaining 70% of output and 71% of jobs. The citrus industry also generated $2.6 billion in state and local taxes.
