Renewed in Grace
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

What Should be the Christian View of Anime?Joe Muraguri
We will learn what Anime is and see what a Christian should consider before watching anime movies? We will also learn a little bit of Shintoism religion and hentai (the craze of internet pornography today).

SUNSHINE IN JUNE – When you come to Our Saviour, we pray that you can see the SONshine. May you feel
welcomed here and surrounded by the love of Jesus. We ask visitors to let us know you were here by filling out the
Fellowship Pad (it’s in the hymnal rack) with today’s date, your name, address, phone number, etc.
TRINITY OBLIGATION – Our Saviour Lutheran Church supports Christian education for our children. As such, we
provide financial support for Trinity Lutheran School, which uses our building, and for N.E.W. Lutheran High School.
Our annual obligation to Trinity, which is a mission project of the church, is $40,600, or about $1,400 per student per
year, or $117 per student per month. Members of Our Saviour congregation are invited to "adopt a student" by designating
additional contributions to our budget obligation for OSLC member students at Trinity. Write on your giving envelope the
amount of money designated for Trinity and the money will be applied to our obligation to the school. God has blessed us
with a great opportunity to provide Christian education to our young people and we joyfully return some of our blessings
for that purpose. -- Your Stewardship Committee
SOFTBALL NEWS – We had two blowout games this past weekend. OSLC 1 defeated Calvary 2 by the score of 28 to 8
and OSLC 2 lost to New Freedom 19 to 2 (ouch). Thanks to all the great fans that showed up to cheer us on. Tonight’s
games are: OSLC 1 at John Muir bottom field at 6:45 and OSLC 2 at Murphy Field 1 at 5:30. -- Thanks, Coach Dash.
OLAN MILLS – Our last set of appointments are on June 28 and 29. If you do not have an appointment scheduled, or to
change an appointment, please call 1-800-866-2263. Allow one hour for your pictures and the review process.
THIS WEEK’S SUNDAY BIBLE CLASS – Is something or someone bothering you and do you wish you knew how to
cope better? Do you have some bad habits that need breaking? Are you trapped in “Stinking Thinking”? Have you ever
heard of the Seven Deadly Sins? They are easy to learn and helpful for avoiding traps in life’s walk. But even better, these
seven traps have heart-lifting opposites that are freeing! Join us in the parlor today [Sunday] for “Stepping Out of the
Traps!” at 9:15am and 10:30am.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL – Please contact the office as soon as possible to register. The first 50 children grades 1-
5 have a cost of $10 ($20 per family); after those spots are filled, the cost increases from $10 to $25 per child (pre-K and
K students are not included in this number). VBS will be held June 28-July 1. Registration forms are at the extra counter
by the Welcome Center. Please contact Donna Biebel at thynot@new.rr.com or call her at 468-5547.
2. DONATIONS FOR VBS NEEDED – Please check the poster board by the Welcome Center for items that you can
donate for our snack time during Vacation Bible School. Unless noted otherwise, donations should be at church no later
than Monday, June 21. All donations are much appreciated and keep the cost of VBS down.
LWML – Meeting Notes are available at http://oslclwml.blogspot.com/. Watch announcements for more mission
projects. Today's Cookies are being provided and served by LWML. Freewill offering will go entirely to the coffee bar.
UPDATE YOUR CHURCH RECORDS – When the new Church Pictorial Directory is printed, a new name, address,
phone number (and possibly email) roster will be included. Please make sure that the office has your correct information.
Contact Michelle at 468-4065 or info@oslc-gb.org and update your contact information no later than July 15, please.
HEAR YE, HEAR YE – Imagine a place that connects member's needs, interests, talents, and passions. The Board of
Stewardship is developing such a place. To start it off, they are inviting every member to complete a fun and creative
inventory (survey). The information will be used within the congregation only, to allow members to use their gifts for the
Lord’s work. This inventory is available at the Olan Mills picture taking sessions and the Welcome Center.
SIGN UP TODAY AND TEE IT UP WITH OSLC – Add this year’s Elders-sponsored golf outing to your calendar on
August 1 with the first tee time scheduled for 12:15pm. We will golf 9 holes at The Woods with a picnic lunch and prizes
afterwards. Sign up sheets can be found in the Narthex. Please list each golfer separately but note if you want to golf
together. You pay for the golf; monetary donations will be taken for the food and prizes. (As of this writing, our
Secretary, Michelle, is golfing by herself with her husband and she would like some company…so please sign up today.)
IT’S SUMMER S-T-R-E-T-C-H TIME! – Youth entering grades 6-9 this fall are invited to participate. Summer Stretch
is a full day of ministry through morning servant events, lunch, reflection on God’s Word in our life, and an afternoon of
fellowship with other Christian youth. Days on the schedule are June 23, June 30, July 28 and August 4. Registration
forms for youth and adults can be found on the Youth Bulletin Board in the office hallway. The cost is $10 per day/$40
for all 4 weeks and includes a Summer Stretch t-shirt. We are limited in the number of youth who can participate only by
the number of adult chaperones we have; please consider helping if you are available.
YOU CALL THAT A VACATION? LISTEN TO THIS!! – The Sweet Monday ladies will talk about…their best and
worst vacations. Bring photos, memories, tips, souvenirs, etc. When? Where? 7pm on July 5 in the Parlor.
You can tell how big a person is by what it takes to discourage him.
LET’S GET READY FOR LAMBEAU!!! – Are you interested in attending a Packer game this year and not paying the
price of admission? Would you be interested if Our Saviour received $50 for your attendance? Runners are needed (20
per game). The first events include the Packers Family Night on August 7 and our two home pre-season games on
Saturday, August 14 and Thursday, August 26. An alcohol service test must be taken online by anyone planning to work
at Lambeau this year. If interested, please call Neil B. at 866-9088 or sign up at the coffee bar.
SCRIP OFFICE HOURS – For those of you who don’t attend Sunday worship, SCRIP can be purchased from the office
from 8am-noon and 12:30-4pm Monday thru Friday. Call ahead if you want to verify we have what you want on hand.
ARE YOU EXPECTING A NEW FAMILY ADDITION? – We now are offering pre-birth pre-Baptism seminars on a
quarterly basis for expectant parents, new parents and your child’s intended sponsors. Our next meeting is scheduled for
Saturday, August 14 from 9-10am. If you are expecting or are a new parent and plan to have your child baptized at Our
Saviour, please call the office at 468-4065 to RSVP to attend this required meeting.
YOUTH NIGHT WITH CAMP LUTHER – Back by popular demand, Camp Luther will host a Youth Night beginning
at 4:00pm on Wednesday, June 30. For more information, contact Pastor Greg.
YOUTH BRAT FRY – The National Youth Gathering youth will hold a Brat Fry at Festival Foods East on July 9th. We
need donations of Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, A&W Root Beer, ketchup, mustard, and relish. These items can be dropped
off at the church office and labeled “NYG Brat Fry”. All items must be purchased from Festival Foods, must have the
orange Festival Foods sticker on, and are needed in the church office by July 7th. Thank you for your support.
SUPER SALE CHANGE – Just a reminder that the 2010 Super Sale will be held two months earlier than usual…on
AUGUST 21st. Please bring your donations now or plan to bring them directly to the gym from August 1 until August 18.
SUMMER (NON-CASH) DONATIONS – Make sure to collect and save the following: Coke Points, non-perishable
food, cell phones, pill bottles, and rummage sale donations. This year’s Super Sale will be on August 21; donations will
be accepted until NOON on August 18. Feel free to call the office (468-4065) to schedule a large item pickup.
YOUR HANDMADE QUILTS ARE NEEDED – Additional auction items, a new auctioneer and more advertising will
give a boost to this awesome event. Donate new quilts for twin, double and queen-sized beds as well as table runners,
wall-hangings and baby quilts to Camp Luther no later than October 1st. We also ask you to enclose a quilt information
sheet (take one from the bulletin board) so that we might catalog and display your work accurately. Join us for the quilt
auction on November 6 at Celebration Lutheran in Appleton. All proceeds will benefit the Camp Luther ministry.
ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, ALGOMA – Will hold an outdoor church service/picnic open to the public. The
event will be held on July 11 and includes a church service with a polka band at 9:30am followed by raffles, auctions and
food. This could be a model for Our Saviour to follow in the future. All are invited to attend. See poster on bulletin board.
LIFE QUOTE – “What a valuable reminder that while teens may not be known for their ability to verbalize their
feelings, they have the same needs as when they were tiny. There is no replacement for Dad’s attention, love, acceptance,
and healthy affection. In its absence, a substitute will be sought. May Father’s Day be every parent’s reminder that their
child really needs them!” Janette Clausen, LBSW, Lutheran Family Services of Iowa
