The document proposes a routing protocol called GVGrid for vehicular ad hoc networks. GVGrid considers vehicles' movement characteristics like density, direction, and speed to establish stable routes along major streets for longer lifetime. It selects routes where nodes travel in the same direction on roads with similar density and speeds. Simulation results show GVGrid provides more stable routes and link lifetimes than existing protocols that do not leverage vehicle movement patterns.
