This document summarizes and analyzes three YouTube game reviews from IGN. It finds that they all provide concise, reliable reviews that use gameplay footage and sound as background. They also sometimes include soundtrack music. The document concludes that providing background music or soundtracks, as these reviews do, could help engage audiences for its own work.
Subtitles are Enough and Other Stories - Research ReportAllcorrect Group
This is a summary of the research project completed by All Correct staff in April-June 2015 and presented at Game QA & Localisation Forum Barcelona.
Do players skip a lot of text when playing? Do they prefer voiceovers over subtitles? What’s their attitude to swear-words and memes? What localization errors are most irritating to the gamers? Can they name the best and worst voice overs? Are female players more sensitive to gender-neutral address? A survey published on a major gaming portal contained several dozen structured questions, and gathered a massive 1,800+responses. We also applied qualitative methods to a narrower focus group for deeper insights.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

• This is a IGN YouTube review for fallout new
Vegas.
• Their sound effects that they use are mainly
from gameplays and trailers and then there is a
very positive review from the reviewer where
they talk about the game itself, some of the
mechanics and the past games it also makes
references to the genre it belongs too. This
seems to be very formal yet slightly informal to
get their point across.
• This would appeal to the audience by giving
them a reliable review which is easy to
understand and gets the point across that it is a
good game and they would recommend playing
it

• This piece was made by IGN the YouTube rating
system for games.
• This is a game review for the Witcher 3
• The sound affects that were used from the gameplay
of the Witcher 3 and so was the music. They also
have the reviewer talking over everything except for
when he takes a break from speaking to split the
segments.
• The language used is in the middle between formal
and informal to create a good review and make it
interesting to viewers.
• This appeals to the audience by giving them a review
that they can trust which gives the audience a choice
of whether to play it or not to play it but in this case I
would say it is a good review so it would make people
want buy and play the product reviewed.

• This is yet another IGN YouTube review but for the
game Skyrim.
• This review uses gameplay as there background
noise and when they need to take a break from
speaking or split up the segments of the review they
bring the background noise and bring it to the front
so there is almost no white noise, and there is
obviously the reviewer talking over all this to talk
about the game.
• The reviewer decides to bring up the great design,
the reviewer also says it is one of the best
roleplaying games ever made, the conversations
have greatly improved however the animations for
the faces are still bad, it is also highly interesting and
has a beautiful soundtrack.
• This would appeal to the audience by giving them a
great and reliable review which is concise and to the
point which would make people want to buy and
play the game.

5. Research Analysis
• What common features do the researched
products have?
– The first three are all concise, reliable and to the point
reviews of games, all the reviews seem to also have
gameplay as background noise and also sometimes
have the soundtrack playing.
• What aspects of the research will you include
within your on work?
– Well I would like to use soundtracks of games or some
sort of nice music in the background and depending
on what topic I do it will depict the sort of music I will
either try to make or to find from other products.
