Will Matthews created a poster and digipack to accompany his dance music video coursework. He researched common features of professional dance genre advertisements and packaging. For the digipack, he looked at albums by Mike Francis and Rudimental that used simple yet eye-catching colors and images relating to the music. His own digipack similarly uses colors and images to attract attention while looking professional. For the poster, he analyzed posters for Ella Eyre and Rita Ora that centered on a large photo of the artist with bright colors and tour details. His resulting poster centers on the main actor from his video, with song and artist information clearly displayed below, tying it to the style of his digipack for recognition.

2. INTRODUCTION
For my A2 media coursework I was asked to create a create a poster and a
digipack to go with my final music video, to create a final product. The
genre of my music video was dance music so I looked at different dance
genre adverts and digipacks which have been made for professional
musicians and looked for which key features which commonly appeared
on each poster and include them on my digipacks and poster. By making
my poster aimed at my target audience it will make it easily spottable to
engage my target audience therefore being effective with linking to my
music video.

3. DANCE GENRE DIGIPAK
 When doing the research for my digipack I decided to look for CDs
which are of a similar artist or style to my music video(dance). The first
digipack I looked at was Mike Francis dance album. I like the look of
this album cover because its simple but the colours make it become
eye-catching, and it also relates to the music as dance music is
sometimes random which relates to the colours in the words. This
makes me think that for my digipack I will use simple yet eye-catching
colours to attract attention to my digipack.

4. DANCE GENRE DIGIPACKS
Another digipack I looked at was the ‘free’ album cover by rudimental. I
liked this album cover because once again it was a simple design but you
can see who the artist is straight away and also it relates to the title ‘free’
as you have the bird flying above the head of the person climbing the hill
which indicated that the person is free like the bird. The picture that I
think I am going to use for the front of my cd cover is one of my artist as
then it is easily recognisable to whole the cd is made by, but to make sure
its not too over the top that it does look good.

5. MY DIGIPAK
Here is the digipak I make to go along side
my music video. I have decided to use some
of the same techniques that have been used
for the digipack I looked at. However I used
some of my own techniques that I liked to
make my digipak look more professional
and still be able to attract my target
audience.

6. DANCE GENRE MUSIC POSTERS
When researching ideas which I could use in my music video
poster I decided to look at artists which were in the same genre
of music as my artist Karen Harding. The first poster which I
looked at was Ella Eyre’s and what I found from this was that
there was one main central photo which was the artist. Around
the photo there are bright colours which draw attention to the
artist herself and below is the artist name with the dates of her
tour. I have found that these posters are generally quite simple
and the main selling point is almost always a photo of the artist
themselves. Therefore for my poster I will keep it simple with the
main photo being my actor (Lucy).

7. WHEN RESEARCHING IDEAS WHICH I COULD USE IN MY MUSIC VIDEO
POSTER I DECIDED TO LOOK AT ARTISTS WHICH WERE IN THE SAME
GENRE OF MUSIC AS MY ARTIST KAREN HARDING. THE SECOND POSTER
WHICH I LOOKED AT WAS RITA ORA’S AND WHAT I FOUND FROM THIS
WAS THAT THERE WAS ONE MAIN CENTRAL PHOTO WHICH WAS THE
ARTIST. AROUND THE PHOTO THERE ARE BRIGHT COLOURS WHICH
DRAW ATTENTION TO THE ARTIST HERSELF AND BELOW IS THE ARTIST
NAME WITH THE DATES OF HER TOUR. I HAVE FOUND THAT THESE
POSTERS ARE GENERALLY QUITE SIMPLE AND THE MAIN SELLING POINT
IS ALMOST ALWAYS A PHOTO OF THE ARTIST THEMSELVES. ALSO ON
THIS POSTER ARE PICTURES OF THE OTHER ARTISTS PERFORMING (IGGY
AZALEA AND HAVANA BROWN) WHICH IS ANOTHER SELLING POINT TO
THE TARGET AUDIENCE

8. MY POSTER
here is my poster which I created for my music video, after looking at the
other posters I decided to make it look like me digipak because I felt like
this would make my poster more recognisable to spot when you see it. I
have the name of the song, artist and also where they are performing
from. This is all written clearly and simply so that people know what is
happening. I have also placed Lucy in the centre of the poster like on the
digipak so that the audience knows who is performing, although my
poster is slightly different to the ones that I have studied I think that it
suits my artist well and should attract my target audience well.
