The three sentence summary is:
The font 'Display' was used for both the poster and CD cover to relate the two products and appeal to their target dance music audience. Images from the music video were edited pink and blue to symbolize a romantic theme and the use of dolls subtly conveyed a message of innocent immaturity. Key details like the artists' record label, track lists, and barcode were included to follow conventions and make the CD cover look realistic.
2. The font ‘Display’ works well with our genre of music as it has a club style to it which many of our target audience would relate to dance music. We used this font for both the poster and the CD cover so that the audience would easily relate the two together. By using images from the film, it allows the audience to see a glimpse of what is in store from the video. By editing the image to pink and blue it symbolises the primal girl boy situation most music videos show. As the dolls are stereotypically for young kids it has the subtle message of innocent immaturity, which we have created our video from. We kept the continuity of the colours by using blue writing for the dates the CD is out and for the reviews, making the poster look more professional and attractive. Adding in the artists recording company kept to the conventions of all music artist promotions.
3. Keeping the same coloured writing as what was used for the poster shows the continuity of our products. By stating that this is ‘The Number One Dance album’ attracts our audience in as it shows that it is a must listen to album for dance music lovers. The same style title was used for the CD cover and for the poster so that the audience could relate one to the other. The pattern above the album title is of the beat, which relates to our style of music as it has a lot of bass in it due to the fact it is a dance album. We researched Benny Benassi’s previous albums and found that one of the covers looked like the inside of a nightclub. We decided that by creating a dance floor theme, it would allow us to keep the conventions of typical dance music CD cover art.
4. After doing our research we discovered that most dance CD’s have more than one CD in them, so we decided to create two sets of track lists to show that the CD contained two separate CDs. As with our poster, we added the record labels to the CD to show who supported the making of the album. This sticks to the conventions of every music album and makes it more realistic. We created images that related to music as we had seen some similar on the internet whilst researching into record labels for this part of the portfolio. The barcode is an essential part of any type of magazine or CD so we included this to make it seem more realistic.
