The Purpose Of Spanish Colonization
The Spanish came to the Americas with the purpose of colonization in 1519. Colonization was not
only engaged by Spain. Even Though there were European powers colonizing the Americas; Spain
was the most successful power specifically because of its economic structure. Spanish colonization
affected many factors as in religion, politics and environment. Spaniards got involved in wars fighting
for territory, trade routes, and ports. Natives were forced to embrace Spanish religion, follow the
crown s will and pay taxes to pay Spanish debt. Moreover Spanish made Natives their slaves.
However Natives started to die due to diseases that Spanish introduced while interacting with each
other. Spanish colonization influenced the beliefs and language that ... Show more content on

It also had more power in America than any European nation because of the way they ran their
economy. It s important to mention that spiritual conquest was very useful for Spaniards in colonizing
the Americas. Another thing that made the Spaniards a very powerful nation was the skills and
knowledge that they had regarding survival to a new climate and resources in the new land. Even
though Spain was very powerful Mexico manage its way to get its independence from Spain in 1821.
Moreover this war lasted 12 years which means that it left both nations in crisis after it ended. This is
how the Spanish came to the Americas in 1519 with all the intention of staying in America. However
they were not that powerful after all by losing the Mexican territory in 1821 and with it its chance to

The Apollo 13
The Apollo 13 is NASA s seventh Apollo space mission taking human beings into the outer space. The
Launch took place at Kennedy Space Center. The crew consisted of three men, James A. Lovell, John
L. Swigert, and Fred W. Haise. Houston, we have a problem... was the saying that leads to the tragic
event that took place on April 11, 1970. Months before the launch, the crew went through many
obstacles in order to prepare themselves for the mission. If one mistake was made, everything could
go wrong and the crew would be killed. NASA had the crew go through every situation possible, no
matter how hard in order for them to be prepared. If they didn t master it the first time, they had to do
it over and over till it was mastered. Once everything

Albert Einstein And The Atomic Bomb
In the afternoon of August 6, 1945, the city of Hiroshima no longer resembled the bustling urban area
it was just a few short hours before. At a quarter after eight in the morning, an atomic bomb fell from
the sky. A bomb small enough to carry on a plane was powerful enough to destroy five square miles of
city (¨Manhattan Project¨ par. 10). John Hersey writes in Hiroshima about what a priest saw just after
the bomb exploded two miles away from him. A priest saw clouds of smoke rising from fires that
started after the explosion (Hersey 18). Creating the atomic bomb which caused so much destruction
was a process which involved many people. Leo Szilard, Albert Einstein, and Julius Oppenheimer
were men whose work brought the beginning to the project. Every good idea needs a kick to it,
something that stands out for people to notice and look deeper. That kick was Albert Einstein, who
was important to the science of atoms before the Manhattan project began (¨Mainwood¨ par.1). His
knowledge of atoms were key to how the atomic bomb works only up to a certain point before he
couldn t do anything else. Despite his area of study, Einstein was not an atomic scientist (¨Mainwood¨
par. 2). He was not involved with the Manhattan project at all, he never worked a day with Szilard or
Oppenheimer, their area of science was different than his. The thing that he did most important for the
Manhattan project was signing a piece of paper prompting the need for atomic weapons to be used in

The Importance Of A Connection And Understanding The...
Medication has created descriptive groups in those who misuse the medication or who are addicted.
However, it is important to analysis a person individually instead of grouping them in the immoral
bubble. In this interview, the importance of creating a connection and understanding the individual
lifestyle with their opinions they created for themselves must be respected. In order for me to be at par
with my interviewee in not claiming or accusing of immorality in his consumption of medication, I
limited my biased views and instead asked questions that created my interviewee, will be known as
GE, to continue explaining. GE has been using a large consumption of Advil in his for his constant
dental discomforts, hangovers, headaches, and in general any pain. Through various amounts of
questions, I learned about the trust GE has in Advil due to his loyalty to the medication. He has not
tried other pain relieving treatments for the reason he has not had any problems with his current
medication. His trust has lead him to feel safe when he neglects in several occasions the recommended
dosage. He is able to intake another pill without feeling endanger. I found it surprising how his trust
tempers with the indulgent of consumption and never from curiosity to discover risks of increasing of
dosages. However, his trust to Advil has given him the ability to experiment with the intake of Advil.
By using the two sources from Paul B. Preciado and Clara Han readings, I am able to depict for

Meaning Of The Sandman
The Sandman The Sandman is a mythical character whose purpose is to lull children to sleep and give
them sweet dreams, by sprinkling magical sand into their eyes. If children fought the effects of his
magical sand, they would have torturous nightmares. The folklore says that the sleep in the corner of
the eyes is a proof that The Sandman was there during the night. The text Verse 1 Say your prayers
little one Don t forget my son To include everyone I tuck you in, warm within Keep you free from sin
Til the sandman he comes The song starts with a parent putting their son to bed, persisting the child to
say their prayers before they go to bed. The parent tucks his son into bed to keep him warm during the
cold night, which is associated with sin. Children see duvets and blankets as a shield to protect them
from anything that can happen throughout the night. Although the last line can seem disturbing The
Sandman is someone who brings good dreams. But the child may misunderstand this and his own fear

The prayer was meant to help kids calm down with fear, and trust that God will protect them through
the night. Hush, Little Baby is a lullaby thought to have been written in the Southern United States.
The lullaby is traditional too real to soothe an anxious or crying child. In this version, it s uncertain
whether it s The Sandman or the parent who is singing. Whereas the first line follows the traditional
lullaby, the following lines hints to a boogeyman or something to be afraid of. This could be child s
way of twisting his parent s words. Chorus 2 Exit light Enter night Grain of sand The grain of sand is
again the proof that The Sandman was there during the night sprinkling his magical sand into the

The National Bureau Of Economic Analysis (NBER)
The business cycle is a series of quantified ups and downs in economies across the world, similar to
the manner in which humans breathe. A positive breath inward to bring oxygen to the lungs, a negative
breath outward to push carbon dioxide out of the lungs, designed to keep the respiratory system at
equilibrium. Without the outward breath, the inward breath would not occur. The business cycle works
in the same manner ¬¬ expansions or boom periods acting as the breath inward, and contractions or
recessions acting as the breath outward. Both are necessary for an economy to function, and one
would not be able to exist without the other. This is the crux of the issue of recessions: they are a
necessary occurrence, not an evil, in the context ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

as the preceding recession, and supports the assertion that the change in 2008 was of a much larger

during the 2008 recession being equal to 7.26% compared to a 2.84% change for the 2001

Bohemian Rhapsody Research Papers
Freddie Mercury, lead singer of the rock band Queen, was a man who desired to live life to its fullest,
as he once proclaimed, The most important thing, darling, is to live a fabulous life. As long as it s
fabulous, I don t care how long it is (Freddie). However, while Mercury reveled in showmanship,
often surrounded by rumors of extravagance, he was also a fiercely private person. The singer and
songwriter, whose real name was Farrokh Bulsara, struggled with a secret that tortured his soul.
Having grown up in a devout Zoroastrian home, Mercury knew what admitting he was a homosexual
would mean for him. He felt he would lose the love and admiration of his family, friends, and fans.
Freddie Mercury used the song Bohemian Rhapsody to reveal ... Show more content on

He explained that he was no longer able to hold back these unwelcome desires declaring, Too late, my
time has come/ Sends shivers down my spine/ Body s aching all the time (Queen). Mercury used these
lyrics to demonstrate that the aching sexual desire his body felt for men was beyond his control. He
then said his goodbyes to the loved ones he left behind because he knew he had to move on regardless
of the consequences: Goodbye everybody I ve got to go/ Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth
(Queen). Within the last two verses of the song, the listener hears a distinct change in the attitude of
Freddie Mercury. Queen no longer uses soft, low tones to convey sadness and regret. Mercury now
sounds powerful and angry and the corresponding lyrics match this new attitude. In a powerful and
almost explosive tone, Mercury declares, So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye (Queen).
Within this passage, Mercury speaks directly to those who would judge and condemn him for his
homosexuality. Stoning was a common form of punishment in ancient times and sometimes used to
punish those who would participate in sexual relations with members of the same gender (Denton, 46).
Mercury directed his anger at the friends and family that claimed to love him stating, So

Problems Caused By Overpopulation Is The Rise Of A Place...
Problems Caused by Overpopulation in Cities
Overpopulation is The condition of a place populated with excessively large numbers . It is considered
a problem in many senses, since it causes a number of issues for various different reasons.
One major issue caused by overpopulation is the rise of unemployment. This is when people actively
seeking employment or just people that are able to work remain unemployed. Overpopulation causes
this because the amount of jobs available would be the same as before the city became overpopulated,
meaning that there wouldn t be enough jobs for the amount of people needing one. With more
unemployed people come many obstacles and problems, not only for the people this affects, but for
the whole economy and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would cause many companies to have lost business. Furthermore, this could even result in more
unemployment, because the companies may be forced to make cutbacks of their own within their staff
or branches (if it was a shop).
From all this evidence, we can see that unemployment is a major issue, and affects many people. A
large amount of unemployed people are in that condition due to overpopulation, proving that
overpopulation is the cause of a significant problem.
A second problem caused by overpopulation is the degradation of the environment. With oil, water
and natural gases being overused, it starts having severe effects on the environment. There are many
negative consequences that we may have to face related to this, the cause of them being
overpopulation.
There are three main types of environmental degradation. The first type is air. Air pollution is one of
the bigger issues within this category. Not only does it damage the air, it is also a hazard to human and
animal health. Particles from the pollution can easily lodge themselves into lungs, and cause many
problems in the body.
Another type of environmental degradation of air is the depletion of the ozone layer. If the ozone layer
is damaged, lots of ultra violet rays from the sun will be able to reach the Earth s surface. Excessive
amounts of ultra violet radiation could cause numerous problems for human health including skin and
eyesight

Theme Of Identity In A View From The Bridge
You re a blank, a cipher... a zero. (Albee, 1962, p.18). With these words, Martha the main character in
Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? showed her husband, George, that he was nothing. Edward Albee,
the writer of Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? talked mainly about Martha and George who pretend to
have different identities just in order not to face reality. Moreover, Arthur Miller, the author of A View
from the Bridge presented the idea of identity in a different way. Miller used the character Eddie to
show how people s identities are constantly changing due to some changes in their lives. Modern
playwrights question the idea of a definite identity.

the play, Eddie tells the story of a young boy who ratted on immigrant relatives staying in his home
and warn Catherine that she must be absolutely silent about Marco and Rodolpho. Moreover, there
was a discussion between Eddie and Beatrice; where Beatrice is afraid of her immigrant cousins being
caught. Therefore, Eddie told her: listen if everybody keeps his mouth shut, nothing can happen. They
ll pay for their board. (Miller, 1955, p.9).Later in the story, Eddie revealed a different identity .He was
blinded with passion to the point of immorality. When he knew about Catherine falling in love with
Rodolpho, he told Alfieri that he is going to call the immigration so he can keep Catherine just for
him. Even though he knew that he is going to suffer for calling immigration, but does so anyway

Ethical Uses Of Radio Frequency Identification
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) transmits stored information between a reader and a tag, over
low frequency electromagnetic radiation, the transmitted information can then be used for a variety of
purposes, which make it essential to modern society, including uses in: identification, security,
payment, and tracking. While RFID has a significant number of uses, there are a number of ethical
issues which must be tackled.
The wave through which the information is transmitted is referred to as the carrier wave, in RFID the
carrier wave is in the radio frequency (electromagnetic radiation with frequencies between 3 kHz 300
GHz) (Mai, 2017). RFID predominantly uses three radio bands; low frequency (125 134 kHz), high
frequency (13.56 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, the type of tag used will depend on the desired application.
RFID is a large industry, with applications in identification, payment, access control, and more. In
2014 the world market for RFID was estimated to be US$8.89 billion, in 2026, it is predicted to reach
US$18.68 billion (Das, 2017). However, as more uses become apparent and the technology continues
to develop it is possible that the industry will grow at an even greater rate than projected. RFID has
become more prevalent in modern society due to RFID tags becoming more economically viable; in
2003, a passive tag was estimated to cost $1, while in 2013, it was only $0.10, thus more widespread
implementation of RFID is possible, as it becomes less expensive. (Thau, 2017).
Most modern banks cards are embedded with passive tags, which allows secure payments to be made
when in close proximity with the reader (referred to as contactless payment). In Australia transactions
under $100 can be made without inputting the PIN, this helps improve the efficiency of transactions,
and thus reduces waiting times (Heffernan, 2016). Contactless cards are also commonly employed in
Public transport systems around the world. For instance, in greater London Oyster Cards possess
passive RFID tags which streamline transaction efficiency and reducing waste from paper tickets
across public transport (Muller, 2016).
A common application of RFID technology is the identification

How Has Communication Changed Over Time
Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools because they have to say something. The
difference in how people speak can be illustrated by comparing the way humans communicated in
ancient times to the way people talk now. While communication technology has grown drastically in
the past decade, from the Ancient Roman Empire to the 11th century Middle East, communication
techniques were not actually improved upon. A radical change came in the 21st century in many
places, including Modern Nigeria, with the advent of communication methods that do not rely at all on
the movement of people. Information transmission now happens virtually.
Communication now can be thought of simply, as several devices that we use each day to talk with
each other. What comes to mind immediately are things like telephones, cellular and landlines, and all

Messages were also delivered by sea, as parts of the empire were only connected by the water trade
routes created by the Romans. One of the largest of these trade routes was called the Royal Road, a
1600 mile path used for transporting letters across Europe and into Asia. This type of innovation was
not really improved upon for thousands of years, as the middle ages was considered a dull time in
history.
The middle ages was a time of survival, where hardly any new improvements were made to lives, as
people were only focussed on survival. For this reason, communication during the period of the
middle ages, specifically in the Crusades, was very limited and sometimes non existent. The
communication that did exist during this time, was much less advanced than that of the Roman Empire
hundreds of years before. The Crusades were a time of war between Europe and the Middle East, a
first of its kind. The two societies were separated by a few thousand miles, but they seemed worlds

In order to begin understanding Syria is important to take time to know the early history. For the
Syrians history represents the events that leaded to their identity, as they know it and the rest of the

From the earliest times until present, Syria has presented a connection between Turkey, Iraq, Jordan,

Difference Between Australia And Indian Culture
The culture and social customs of Indians compared to Australians is very different. Different people
in different societies have different culture and food, but they also have some similarities. The culture
varies in different things such as clothes, foods, religion, and many others. Not only the culture but
geographical and environmental setting is also playing main role. India is the world s second largest
country after china with 1.3 billion population, while Australia is the world s smallest continent with
24 million population. The capital of India is New Delhi which is in the northern part of India. The
capital of Australia is Canberra which is in northern end of Australia which is also called southwest
Sydney. India is surrounded by three oceans namely Arabian ocean(west), Indian ocean(south), Bay of
Bengal(east). Australia considered to be an island because it is surrounded by Indian ocean(west),
coral seas(north), Pacific Ocean(east) and Tasman sea(south) (Everyculture.com). India is more
vulnerable in climate changes, in India there were three main seasons, winter runs through January
and march, summer runs through April and August and monsoon runs through September and
December. Meanwhile, Australia is generally warm and dry all year round, with no extreme cold and
rain (Foodbycountry.com). India suffers with environmental problems like water and air pollution,

The Crying Of Lot 49
Trystero and the world around Oedipa are only simulations due to the fact that they have become so
layered with hyperrealism and even more simulations with all the characters Oedipa meets. She is
convinced that she is either uncovering a powerful conspiracy or she is going insane, but willing to go
wherever her investigation leads her in order to find meaning and truth behind it anyway. However,
for Baudrillard, ...it is dangerous to unmask images, since they dissimulate that fact that there is
nothing behind them (Baudrillard 169). In other words, in Oedipa s quest to unmask the clues she
finds, they are all simulations based upon other simulations without any truthful meaning at their core.
The Crying of Lot 49 depicts these layers of simulation through the clues Oedipa finds that are
supposed to reveal the truth behind the word Tristero. Her first introduction to the word Tristero comes
from her encounter of the painting, Bordando el Manto Terrestre. The real life painting by Spanish
exile, Remedios Varo, which depicts women, embroidering a kind of tapestry which spilled out the slit
windows and into a void, seeking hopelessly to fill the void (Pynchon 11). A further analysis is that
she herself is one of these women in the painting, forever weaving the clues and signs she receives,
but ultimately attempting to fill an infinite void.
Next, Oedipa hears the word Trystero in a play called The Courier s Tragedy (Pynchon 49) Then she
sneaks backstage to find

The Segregation Of African Americans
As children we are taught to love and accept other, however, this is not always the case. More often
than not we never taught to love those different from us, instead we go on through life only loving
those who are similar to us, our unintentional intolerance remaining uncorrected. Growing up without
that nurturing hand teaching us to live in a world that is far more diverse than it has ever been, leaves
us as intolerant and uneducated adults, whether it is, or is not, by our own doing. In American society,
time and time again, the failure to practice what is preached in our so called values has been our only
success. From the segregation of African Americans to the oppression of Women, and now the fearful
and sometimes violent discrimination against LGBTQ oriented individuals is the nation s most recent
atrocity. By standardizing the image of what love and the human identity is to a typical heterosexual
individual, society is limiting the diversity of the nation and degrading the lives of so many valuable
people. What s more is the fact that this intolerance that is permeating all levels of society is almost
centralized in the most significant aspect of any society: its schools. Schools everywhere are ignoring
the high concentration of LGBTQ discrimination by their students and even faculty. It is extremely
hard to believe that this kind of behavior is tolerated in schools, not to mention the fact of its being
taught in churches all across the nation. With

The Theories And Principles Of Attachment Theory
Exploration of Attachment Theory
Fully describe the theory including the main concepts and principles
Attachment theory is a concept that explores the importance of attachment in respect to direct
development. It is a deep and enduring emotional bond that connects one person to another across
time and space (Bowlby, 1969; McLeod, 2009). It is the relationship that develops within the first year
of the infant s life between them and their caregiver. The theory also relates to the quality of the
attachment that is shown in the behavior of the infant (Rieser Danner, 2016). Attachment theory shows
that infants need a close nurturing relationship with their caregiver in order to have a healthy
relationship. Lack of response from the caregiver ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This behavior can be explained by the caregiver s unpredictable and unstable behavior. Because of the
distress of the caregiver s possible abandonment, the infant will go to extreme measures to preserve
that attachment and will be more alert to signs of abandonment or dismissal.
Lastly, avoidant attached infants are untroubled when the caregiver leaves and returns. The infant
wants to keep closeness to the caregiver but this attachment style lets the infant maintain closeness to
the caregiver even in the face of rejection. In order to control their feelings of distress and to prevent
more rejection, the infant may just give up on seeking closeness to the caregiver (Walsh, 2015).
Assess the theory s contribution to understanding human behavior Researchers have been looking at
theories to show how important relationships are in people s lives and attachment theory has allowed
them to understand human behavior in a variety of ways. Feelings, such as anger and romantic love,
can be directly correlated to the attachments received as a child. Anger, according to Bowlby (1951),
can be a direct response to a separation experienced during infancy. In a study produced by Heinicke
Westheimer (1966), ten young children were observed during and after a two week stay at a residential
nursery. The comparisons made between those children and children who had remained in their homes

goers into thinking that the author possesses certain knowledge about the world (Plato et al., 1963) but
is usually understood as a world or scenario that is created by human imagination. However, that
doesn t necessarily make it untrue, as fiction can be based on reality and can become a useful

Numbers and equations simply to not concretely exist in our world. Maths is, after all, like any written
language, glorified scribbling that somehow resonates with meaning in our minds. Take as an example
4 = 2 + 2 . This string of symbols translates itself into what we understand is an equation: the two
sides of the = sign are the same. However, neither 4 not 2 + 2 exist. They are not visually identical. Yet
somehow we accept that connecting them with the = symbol indicates that their numerical value is
equivalent. Like fiction, maths merely requires us to suspend our disbelief long enough for us to
understand whatever story or message the author is trying to impart. This philosophical position is
called Mathematical Fictionalism. Its proponents believe that mathematics are purely fictional but are
still functional as long as its purpose is not meant to be a mirror of reality (Leng, 2016). However, this
position calls into question the validity of mathematics. Fiction, if assumed completely truthful,
becomes a lie. So if mathematics are purely a human made language created to describe phenomena
that cannot be described in another language, how can we ascertain its precision and how much power
should we give it in a discussion? Mathematical entities do not exist concretely, yet we give them
characteristics and magnitudes that allow them to be ranked, ordered and even to interact amongst

Defense Mechanisms And The First Defense Mechanism
Defense Mechanisms Defense mechanisms are known as ways we protect ourselves from the feelings
or things that we do not want to deal with. Defense mechanisms tend to be a way to cope with
situations, from which an individual feels anxiety or stressed. Everyone uses defenses mechanisms to
help them get through frustrating experiences. There are several types of defense mechanisms; the
main ones that I can remember using are regression, denial, projection, repression, rationalization, and
displacement. The first defense mechanism I like to uses is regression. Regression is defined as
leading to the temporary or long term reversion of the ego to an earlier stage of development rather
than handling unacceptable impulses in a more adult way. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Regression helps people by, when someone confronted by stressful events, they sometimes abandon
coping strategies and revert to patterns of behavior used earlier in development. The second defense
mechanism, I ve used is denial. Denial is simply refusing to acknowledge that an event has occurred, a
person acts as if nothing has happened, behaving in ways those others may see as bizarre. In my life, I
have only known one person that has past that I have cared about. When she past a couple years ago, I
just did not want to believe it. I stayed up almost every night that week, trying to think that it was not
real and it was only a dream. Still to this day, I try to tell myself it is not real, but reality hits me and
she will always be gone. Personally I can only remember using denial as a defense mechanism once in
my life, but I also had a neighbor his name was Cody he was 17 years old and he started using drugs,
the changes in his behavior made it pretty obvious to anyone who know him, but Cody s parents just
didn t believe. I believe that Cody s parents where in denial; because that was there baby, and they just
did not want to believe that there kid would get into that kind of stuff. The third defense mechanism I
have used is projection. Projection is where a person defends themselves against unpleasant impulses
by denying their existence in themselves, while attributing them to others. I have been known of doing

Canterbury Tales Essay
Corruption in the Church nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Chaucer lived in a time dictated by religion
and religious ideas in which he uses The Canterbury Tales to show some of his views. Religion played
a significant role in fourteenth century England and also in Chaucer amp;#8217;s writing. His ideas of
the Church are first seen in amp;#8220;The Prologue, ; and he uses seven religious persons to show
the influence of the religion in his writing. Although many of his characters appear to portray part of
the corruption in the Church, he does give a small example in which one can conclude that he is
speaking in praise. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; The Friar, who lived off begging, appears to live a

The Monk is a lazy, disgusting man who lived a dishonest and imprudent life. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;
nbsp; The Pardoner and Summoner appear together in amp;#8220;The Prologue. ; They further
illustrate an example of Chaucer amp;#8217;s awareness of a defiled Church. Chaucer provides
humor to his description of the Summoner in that amp;#8220;he amp;#8217;d allow amp;#8211; just
for a quart of wine /Any good lad to keep a concubine ; (Chaucer 20.) This means that a person who
disobeys the Church without seeking repentance can easily bribe the Summoner, in that he will
overlook the situation. Chaucer writes about the Pardoner that amp;#8220;by his flatteries and
prevarication/ Made monkey of the priest and congregation ; (Chaucer 22.) This is another direct
insult to the Church at the time. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Although the Pardoner represents the
lowly side of the Church, Chaucer balances it out with a highly appraise of the Parson. He appears
into the prologue before the Pardoner and the Summoner, and he clearly is a perfect illustration of the
Church, which should be followed over the other corrupt religious men. Chaucer uses the Parson to
show the Church amp;#8217;s power and majesty over this period in England. If not for him, it could
be concluded that Chaucer had no respect for the Church. However, the Parson allows

Happiness Is A Personal And Multi Dimensional Notion
Happiness is usually expressed as the point to which an individual assesses the total worth of his or
her existence as a whole positively (Veenhoven, 1993), and regularly, considered on an ordinal scale
of answers to biased questions. Most experimental findings consume various kinds of self reported
ideals on happiness or particular well being dignified from various scaling methods. Happiness is a
personal and multi dimensional notion every distinct person depicts it in a diverse way, it is
comparative, and it is determine by an extensive range of influences, involving individual
personalities. Consequently, allowing it to be assessable and creating causal relationships a task. The
information and experimental studies distinguish between the natures of happiness and noticing the
connected expressions life s satisfaction and well being. The explanations of recognised ideas overlap
through the proposal on happiness and are separated into numerous categories. In this study, the main
ideas associated to happiness and their factors are shortened in order to pinpoint the major distinctions
between the suggested terms and to determine the theoretical agenda. The pursuit for happiness is
significant and is a must to human beings. It is a situation that majority of people attempt to
accomplish. Many of us can account, at least at some phase of our existent, being happy. We all strive
to live happy and fulfil our lives and want happiness for people that we love. So happiness

E-Prescribing and It s Function in Healthcare Essay
Electronic prescribing, often referred to as e prescribing, is a fairly new, innovative way for physicians
and other medical personnel to prescribe medications and keep track of patients medical history. Not
only has e prescribing enabled prescribers to electronically send a prescription to the patients
pharmacy of choice, in the short amount of time it has been available, it has significantly reduced
health care costs, not only for the patient, but for the medical facilities as well. In 2003, e prescribing
was included in the Medicare Modernization Act (MMA) which jumpstarted the role of e prescribing
in healthcare. It has proven to significantly reduce the yearly number medication errors and
prescription fraud, and its widespread ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only does the electronic method of prescribing save time, it has also cut down on the number of
accidents caused by the misinterpretation of handwriting. Although now almost obsolete, hand written
prescriptions have been the cause of many medical errors because certain sound alike or look alike
drugs have, in the past, been incorrectly substituted for one another. A report given by the insurance
company, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield disclosed that if all physicians were to begin using
electronic prescription systems, more than two million adverse reactions or events ranging from
inconsequential to severe could be avoided each year (wgrz.com). According to pharmacist and
associate director for the Food and Drug Administration s Office of Drug Safety, Jerry Phillips, Six
hundred sound alike or look alike drug pairs have been identified as possible sources of error since
1992 (nytimes.com). For example, Lamictal, a mood stabilizing anticonvulsant, is quite similar in
spelling to Lamisil, an antifungal drug. Because of these strong similarities, it is not difficult to
understand how easy it could be for medical personnel to mistake certain medications. But with e
prescribing, because the prescription is sent directly from the prescriber to the pharmacy, the number
of accidents caused by misinterpretation of handwriting has already been

Analyzing Stock Exchange Market On Wall Street Work
Mostly everyone in today s world has heard something about stocks. However, not a lot of people
know what stocks are exactly, and what it is that they do. Many movies, such as Wolf of Wall Street,
and Big Short, have been made to illustrate stock exchange market and give us a better picture on how
that crazy lifestyle on Wall Street work. There are still many questions circling around that focus on
how stocks are governed, and how they are regulated. To get a full understanding on just how stock
exchange works, we will take it back to its origins, and slowly build our way up to getting a true
understanding of their function. Stock is a term used to symbolize an investor s ownership in a
company. Those who own stocks are commonly called stockholders or shareholders. As a shareholder,
an investor theoretically owns a percentage of everything the company owns or owes. The company s
profitability, or lack thereof, determines whether its stock is traded at a higher or lower price. While
trading of debt and commodities has its origins in the Middle Ages, the modern concept of a stock
market began in the late 16th century. Stock markets were started when countries in the New World
began trading with each other. While many pioneer merchants wanted to start huge businesses, this
required substantial amounts of capital that no single merchant could raise alone. As a result, groups
of investors pooled their savings and became business partners and co owners with individual

The Common Sexually Transmitted Infections Essay
HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI). This might be the reason why the
pharmaceutical company Merck Co. has invested time on making sure that the country is aware of
HPV. Merck Co has a few commercial about HPV and getting vaccinated. As a matter of fact the most
sexual active men and women will get at least one type of HPV at some point in their lives. People
have known about the Human Papillomavirus since 1956 because a group of scientist discovered it.
However, it was not until 1984 that a German Professor by the name of Dr. Harald Zur Hausen put the
connection together that HPV and cancer coincide with one another.
Since HPV is a STI the common way of contracting it is by having vaginal , anal, or oral sex with
someone who has the virus. It is most commonly spread during vaginal or anal sex. HPV can be
passed even when an infected person has no signs or symptoms. Because HPV often has no signs or
symptoms, males and females can get the virus without knowing it and then pass it on. Anyone who is
sexually active can get HPV, even if you have had sex with only one person. You also can develop
symptoms years after you have sex with someone who is infected making it hard to know when you
first became infected.
There are a few HPV vaccines licensed in the United States. All HPV vaccines are administered as a 3
dose series of injections that is given deep into the muscles over a 6 month period. These vaccines are
safe and effective. The first dose

two paragraphs to show how school was on the Indian reservation and that he broke down the doors in
his way. In the seventh paragraph Alexie goes into detail about his experience reading. Alexie Read
books late into the night... read books in the car... [and] in shopping malls . Alexie uses the verb read a

save my life . He used the word read repeatedly to emphasize the fact that he was trying to save his
life. He didn t want to be like the other Indian kids on the reservation; Alexie wanted to break down
the door in his way and make a life for himself. A life beyond the hardships of the reservation, a life
better than his parents, a life that can inspire other unfortunate children. In the final paragraph, Alexie

people, no matter how hard their life gets, they strive to make it higher whether their stair is rough or

different forms, such as: Poverty, addicts... The poem Mother to Son by Langston Hughes, this poem

Christian Elements In Beowulf
The intermingling of Christian ideas and classical rhetoric has set the foundation for many centuries of
literature works. The overlap of elements appeals to readers who are accustomed to Biblical language
while simultaneously engaging with their imaginative experience of a secular world, an expression
that is observed in the epic poem Beowulf. Commonly cited as one of the most important works of
Old English literature, the poem provides valuable insight into a culture that resembles our own
societal challenges while simultaneously remaining distant from the present day world. This analytical
essay will focus on the strategic use of words and phrases and how the poets emphasis on religious
association invokes the answers to many central human perplexities. Through its use of repetitive
elements and various motifs within Christian and pagan values, the poet builds on the many elements
within virtuous philosophy. Although many analytical dissertations interpret the influence that
Beowulf s diction has on Christian ideals, it is critical to examine how the poem s religious expression
affects its pagan characters. Many literary works incorporate stock elements to continuously keep their
readers engaged in the purpose of its context. These elements are distinct analogous words or phrases
that are chosen to convey the rhetorical device. The author of Beowulf repeatedly acknowledged God
as an all mighty figure that overshadows the lives of both its readers and the

Pros And Cons Of Test Driven Design
Test Driven Design: Pros and Cons
Software testing involves execution of a software or service to check the quality of software product
or service. It evaluates whether software components meet the given requirements or not. It also
evaluates functionality of the software and time taken by it to run. [1] Software testing is very
important for controlling the cost of the software project. Traditionally, we design and develop the
program first. However, Test Driven Design (TDD) involves writing the test cases for new functions
of a software first and then implementation of the code to pass these tests. This cycle of writing test
cases and implementing the code is repeated till all the functionalities of the code are implemented. [2]
Now, we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Actually, in TDD he first writes 1 small test, then he writes the code which passes that test case, then
write another small test and then make it work and so on. [3] This is the basic flow of TDD. Write a
test that fails, make it work, improve the code. [3] This flow is also known as Red Green Refactor
flow. Writing a test that fails indicate red phase, making it work indicate green phase and improving
the code refers to refactor phase in the practice of test driven design. [3] Refactoring means to change
the code without changing the expected goal of the code. This practice may not seem natural but
yields very fruitful benefits.
There are many advantages of using test driven design in a software company. In many companies,
including IBM, traditional unit test is not thought of as an important step in software development.
More often than not, no unit tests were created, especially when the schedule is tight. [2] While in
TDD, this is not the case as in its development process testing is forced through the test cases made.
This causes the software product to eventually have less

Bp Oil Spill Effects
Oil drilling is a phenomenon that s been since the late 1850 s, and makes the oil as cheap as fifty
dollars a barrel for consumers all around the world. Oil drilling first began in 1859 when George
Bissell and Edwin L. made the first successful drilling rig on a well in Titusville, Pennsylvania.
Offshore drilling began in the late 1800 s and by 1897 the first offshore well was producing oil. When
citizens think of offshore drilling the first thing that usually comes into mind is the BP Deepwater
Horizon oil spill that began on April 20, 2010. It killed 11 workers, and at least four species of marine
animals were killed off from its effects (Offshore Drilling). Offshore drilling is a hazardous way to
mine oil, and even though it may seem to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An oil spill spreading to either coast could cause a major disruption in fishing and vacation industries
and would wash up many jobs. Any oil spreading to the coast will cause a disruption in vacation
revenue, and many jobs would be destroyed due to not enough people coming to their tourist spots.
Opponents argue that oil drilling will resolve the problem of oil and gas scarcity for the next few
decades. Offshore drilling makes oil and gas much cheaper than the past few years with prices as low
as eighty five dollars per barrel of oil (Wickham). But, oil drilling creates a major risk to our
environment, and has already started to degrade the Gulf of Mexico after over three million gallons of
oil leaked from the Deepwater explosion. Just because the price of oil under current procedures is low,
does not mean that the government shouldn t take steps forward to ensure the environment was as
clean as it once was before oil drilling

Even Though there were European powers colonizing the Americas; Spain was the most successful power specifically because of its economic structure. Spanish colonization affected many factors as in religion, politics and environment. Spaniards got involved in wars fighting for territory, trade routes, and ports. Natives were forced to embrace Spanish religion, follow the crown s will and pay taxes to pay Spanish debt. Moreover Spanish made Natives their slaves. • 4. Albert Einstein And The Atomic Bomb In the afternoon of August 6, 1945, the city of Hiroshima no longer resembled the bustling urban area it was just a few short hours before. At a quarter after eight in the morning, an atomic bomb fell from the sky. A bomb small enough to carry on a plane was powerful enough to destroy five square miles of city (¨Manhattan Project¨ par. 10). John Hersey writes in Hiroshima about what a priest saw just after the bomb exploded two miles away from him. A priest saw clouds of smoke rising from fires that started after the explosion (Hersey 18). Creating the atomic bomb which caused so much destruction was a process which involved many people. Leo Szilard, Albert Einstein, and Julius Oppenheimer were men whose work brought the beginning to the project. Every good idea needs a kick to it, something that stands out for people to notice and look deeper. That kick was Albert Einstein, who was important to the science of atoms before the Manhattan project began (¨Mainwood¨ par.1). His knowledge of atoms were key to how the atomic bomb works only up to a certain point before he couldn t do anything else. Despite his area of study, Einstein was not an atomic scientist (¨Mainwood¨ par. 2). He was not involved with the Manhattan project at all, he never worked a day with Szilard or Oppenheimer, their area of science was different than his. The thing that he did most important for the Manhattan project was signing a piece of paper prompting the need for atomic weapons to be used in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Importance Of A Connection And Understanding The... Medication has created descriptive groups in those who misuse the medication or who are addicted. However, it is important to analysis a person individually instead of grouping them in the immoral bubble. In this interview, the importance of creating a connection and understanding the individual lifestyle with their opinions they created for themselves must be respected. In order for me to be at par with my interviewee in not claiming or accusing of immorality in his consumption of medication, I limited my biased views and instead asked questions that created my interviewee, will be known as GE, to continue explaining. GE has been using a large consumption of Advil in his for his constant dental discomforts, hangovers, headaches, and in general any pain. Through various amounts of questions, I learned about the trust GE has in Advil due to his loyalty to the medication. He has not tried other pain relieving treatments for the reason he has not had any problems with his current medication. His trust has lead him to feel safe when he neglects in several occasions the recommended dosage. He is able to intake another pill without feeling endanger. I found it surprising how his trust tempers with the indulgent of consumption and never from curiosity to discover risks of increasing of dosages. However, his trust to Advil has given him the ability to experiment with the intake of Advil. By using the two sources from Paul B. Preciado and Clara Han readings, I am able to depict for ... • 6. Meaning Of The Sandman The Sandman The Sandman is a mythical character whose purpose is to lull children to sleep and give them sweet dreams, by sprinkling magical sand into their eyes. If children fought the effects of his magical sand, they would have torturous nightmares. The folklore says that the sleep in the corner of the eyes is a proof that The Sandman was there during the night. The text Verse 1 Say your prayers little one Don t forget my son To include everyone I tuck you in, warm within Keep you free from sin Til the sandman he comes The song starts with a parent putting their son to bed, persisting the child to say their prayers before they go to bed. The parent tucks his son into bed to keep him warm during the cold night, which is associated with sin. Children see duvets and blankets as a shield to protect them from anything that can happen throughout the night. • 7. The National Bureau Of Economic Analysis (NBER) The business cycle is a series of quantified ups and downs in economies across the world, similar to the manner in which humans breathe. A positive breath inward to bring oxygen to the lungs, a negative breath outward to push carbon dioxide out of the lungs, designed to keep the respiratory system at equilibrium. Without the outward breath, the inward breath would not occur. The business cycle works in the same manner ¬¬ expansions or boom periods acting as the breath inward, and contractions or recessions acting as the breath outward. Both are necessary for an economy to function, and one would not be able to exist without the other. • 8. Bohemian Rhapsody Research Papers Freddie Mercury, lead singer of the rock band Queen, was a man who desired to live life to its fullest, as he once proclaimed, The most important thing, darling, is to live a fabulous life. As long as it s fabulous, I don t care how long it is (Freddie). However, while Mercury reveled in showmanship, often surrounded by rumors of extravagance, he was also a fiercely private person. The singer and songwriter, whose real name was Farrokh Bulsara, struggled with a secret that tortured his soul. Having grown up in a devout Zoroastrian home, Mercury knew what admitting he was a homosexual would mean for him. He felt he would lose the love and admiration of his family, friends, and fans. Freddie Mercury used the song Bohemian Rhapsody to reveal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He explained that he was no longer able to hold back these unwelcome desires declaring, Too late, my time has come/ Sends shivers down my spine/ Body s aching all the time (Queen). Mercury used these lyrics to demonstrate that the aching sexual desire his body felt for men was beyond his control. He then said his goodbyes to the loved ones he left behind because he knew he had to move on regardless of the consequences: Goodbye everybody I ve got to go/ Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth (Queen). Within the last two verses of the song, the listener hears a distinct change in the attitude of Freddie Mercury. Queen no longer uses soft, low tones to convey sadness and regret. Mercury now sounds powerful and angry and the corresponding lyrics match this new attitude. In a powerful and almost explosive tone, Mercury declares, So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye (Queen). Within this passage, Mercury speaks directly to those who would judge and condemn him for his homosexuality. Stoning was a common form of punishment in ancient times and sometimes used to punish those who would participate in sexual relations with members of the same gender (Denton, 46). • 9. Problems Caused By Overpopulation Is The Rise Of A Place... Problems Caused by Overpopulation in Cities Overpopulation is The condition of a place populated with excessively large numbers . It is considered a problem in many senses, since it causes a number of issues for various different reasons. One major issue caused by overpopulation is the rise of unemployment. This is when people actively seeking employment or just people that are able to work remain unemployed. Overpopulation causes this because the amount of jobs available would be the same as before the city became overpopulated, meaning that there wouldn t be enough jobs for the amount of people needing one. With more unemployed people come many obstacles and problems, not only for the people this affects, but for the whole economy and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This would cause many companies to have lost business. Furthermore, this could even result in more unemployment, because the companies may be forced to make cutbacks of their own within their staff or branches (if it was a shop). From all this evidence, we can see that unemployment is a major issue, and affects many people. A large amount of unemployed people are in that condition due to overpopulation, proving that overpopulation is the cause of a significant problem. A second problem caused by overpopulation is the degradation of the environment. With oil, water and natural gases being overused, it starts having severe effects on the environment. There are many negative consequences that we may have to face related to this, the cause of them being overpopulation. There are three main types of environmental degradation. The first type is air. Air pollution is one of the bigger issues within this category. Not only does it damage the air, it is also a hazard to human and animal health. Particles from the pollution can easily lodge themselves into lungs, and cause many problems in the body. Another type of environmental degradation of air is the depletion of the ozone layer. If the ozone layer is damaged, lots of ultra violet rays from the sun will be able to reach the Earth s surface. With these words, Martha the main character in Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? showed her husband, George, that he was nothing. Edward Albee, the writer of Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? talked mainly about Martha and George who pretend to have different identities just in order not to face reality. Moreover, Arthur Miller, the author of A View from the Bridge presented the idea of identity in a different way. • 11. Ethical Uses Of Radio Frequency Identification Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) transmits stored information between a reader and a tag, over low frequency electromagnetic radiation, the transmitted information can then be used for a variety of purposes, which make it essential to modern society, including uses in: identification, security, payment, and tracking. While RFID has a significant number of uses, there are a number of ethical issues which must be tackled. The wave through which the information is transmitted is referred to as the carrier wave, in RFID the carrier wave is in the radio frequency (electromagnetic radiation with frequencies between 3 kHz 300 GHz) (Mai, 2017). RFID predominantly uses three radio bands; low frequency (125 134 kHz), high frequency (13.56 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, the type of tag used will depend on the desired application. RFID is a large industry, with applications in identification, payment, access control, and more. In 2014 the world market for RFID was estimated to be US$8.89 billion, in 2026, it is predicted to reach US$18.68 billion (Das, 2017). However, as more uses become apparent and the technology continues to develop it is possible that the industry will grow at an even greater rate than projected. RFID has become more prevalent in modern society due to RFID tags becoming more economically viable; in 2003, a passive tag was estimated to cost $1, while in 2013, it was only $0.10, thus more widespread implementation of RFID is possible, as it becomes less expensive. (Thau, 2017). Most modern banks cards are embedded with passive tags, which allows secure payments to be made when in close proximity with the reader (referred to as contactless payment). In Australia transactions under $100 can be made without inputting the PIN, this helps improve the efficiency of transactions, and thus reduces waiting times (Heffernan, 2016). Contactless cards are also commonly employed in Public transport systems around the world. For instance, in greater London Oyster Cards possess passive RFID tags which streamline transaction efficiency and reducing waste from paper tickets across public transport (Muller, 2016). A common application of RFID technology is the identification ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. How Has Communication Changed Over Time Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools because they have to say something. The difference in how people speak can be illustrated by comparing the way humans communicated in ancient times to the way people talk now. While communication technology has grown drastically in the past decade, from the Ancient Roman Empire to the 11th century Middle East, communication techniques were not actually improved upon. A radical change came in the 21st century in many places, including Modern Nigeria, with the advent of communication methods that do not rely at all on the movement of people. Information transmission now happens virtually. Communication now can be thought of simply, as several devices that we use each day to talk with each other. One of the largest of these trade routes was called the Royal Road, a 1600 mile path used for transporting letters across Europe and into Asia. This type of innovation was not really improved upon for thousands of years, as the middle ages was considered a dull time in history. The middle ages was a time of survival, where hardly any new improvements were made to lives, as people were only focussed on survival. For this reason, communication during the period of the middle ages, specifically in the Crusades, was very limited and sometimes non existent. The communication that did exist during this time, was much less advanced than that of the Roman Empire hundreds of years before. Different people in different societies have different culture and food, but they also have some similarities. The culture varies in different things such as clothes, foods, religion, and many others. Not only the culture but geographical and environmental setting is also playing main role. India is the world s second largest country after china with 1.3 billion population, while Australia is the world s smallest continent with 24 million population. The Crying Of Lot 49 Trystero and the world around Oedipa are only simulations due to the fact that they have become so layered with hyperrealism and even more simulations with all the characters Oedipa meets. She is convinced that she is either uncovering a powerful conspiracy or she is going insane, but willing to go wherever her investigation leads her in order to find meaning and truth behind it anyway. However, for Baudrillard, ...it is dangerous to unmask images, since they dissimulate that fact that there is nothing behind them (Baudrillard 169). In other words, in Oedipa s quest to unmask the clues she finds, they are all simulations based upon other simulations without any truthful meaning at their core. The Crying of Lot 49 depicts these layers of simulation through the clues Oedipa finds that are supposed to reveal the truth behind the word Tristero. Her first introduction to the word Tristero comes from her encounter of the painting, Bordando el Manto Terrestre. The real life painting by Spanish exile, Remedios Varo, which depicts women, embroidering a kind of tapestry which spilled out the slit windows and into a void, seeking hopelessly to fill the void (Pynchon 11). A further analysis is that she herself is one of these women in the painting, forever weaving the clues and signs she receives, but ultimately attempting to fill an infinite void. More often than not we never taught to love those different from us, instead we go on through life only loving those who are similar to us, our unintentional intolerance remaining uncorrected. Growing up without that nurturing hand teaching us to live in a world that is far more diverse than it has ever been, leaves us as intolerant and uneducated adults, whether it is, or is not, by our own doing. In American society, time and time again, the failure to practice what is preached in our so called values has been our only success. From the segregation of African Americans to the oppression of Women, and now the fearful and sometimes violent discrimination against LGBTQ oriented individuals is the nation s most recent atrocity. By standardizing the image of what love and the human identity is to a typical heterosexual individual, society is limiting the diversity of the nation and degrading the lives of so many valuable people. What s more is the fact that this intolerance that is permeating all levels of society is almost centralized in the most significant aspect of any society: its schools. Schools everywhere are ignoring the high concentration of LGBTQ discrimination by their students and even faculty. It is extremely hard to believe that this kind of behavior is tolerated in schools, not to mention the fact of its being taught in churches all across the nation. With ... • 21. The Theories And Principles Of Attachment Theory Exploration of Attachment Theory Fully describe the theory including the main concepts and principles Attachment theory is a concept that explores the importance of attachment in respect to direct development. It is a deep and enduring emotional bond that connects one person to another across time and space (Bowlby, 1969; McLeod, 2009). It is the relationship that develops within the first year of the infant s life between them and their caregiver. The theory also relates to the quality of the attachment that is shown in the behavior of the infant (Rieser Danner, 2016). Attachment theory shows that infants need a close nurturing relationship with their caregiver in order to have a healthy relationship. Lack of response from the caregiver ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This behavior can be explained by the caregiver s unpredictable and unstable behavior. Because of the distress of the caregiver s possible abandonment, the infant will go to extreme measures to preserve that attachment and will be more alert to signs of abandonment or dismissal. Lastly, avoidant attached infants are untroubled when the caregiver leaves and returns. The infant wants to keep closeness to the caregiver but this attachment style lets the infant maintain closeness to the caregiver even in the face of rejection. In order to control their feelings of distress and to prevent more rejection, the infant may just give up on seeking closeness to the caregiver (Walsh, 2015). Assess the theory s contribution to understanding human behavior Researchers have been looking at theories to show how important relationships are in people s lives and attachment theory has allowed them to understand human behavior in a variety of ways. Feelings, such as anger and romantic love, can be directly correlated to the attachments received as a child. Anger, according to Bowlby (1951), can be a direct response to a separation experienced during infancy. In a study produced by Heinicke Westheimer (1966), ten young children were observed during and after a two week stay at a residential nursery. The comparisons made between those children and children who had remained in their homes showed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. What Links Disciplines Of Literature, Philosophy And... What links the disciplines of literature, philosophy and mathematics? The answer is, quite simply, fiction. Fiction has probably existed since the human brain was capable of imagination, either for distraction or for the more functional purpose of envisioning hunt scenarios when our nomadic ancestors would need to survive. Fiction can be defined as a literary tool that fools readers or theatre goers into thinking that the author possesses certain knowledge about the world (Plato et al., 1963) but is usually understood as a world or scenario that is created by human imagination. However, that doesn t necessarily make it untrue, as fiction can be based on reality and can become a useful mechanism to convey important messages and help shape ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Numbers and equations simply to not concretely exist in our world. Maths is, after all, like any written language, glorified scribbling that somehow resonates with meaning in our minds. Take as an example 4 = 2 + 2 . This string of symbols translates itself into what we understand is an equation: the two sides of the = sign are the same. However, neither 4 not 2 + 2 exist. They are not visually identical. Yet somehow we accept that connecting them with the = symbol indicates that their numerical value is equivalent. Like fiction, maths merely requires us to suspend our disbelief long enough for us to understand whatever story or message the author is trying to impart. This philosophical position is called Mathematical Fictionalism. Its proponents believe that mathematics are purely fictional but are still functional as long as its purpose is not meant to be a mirror of reality (Leng, 2016). However, this position calls into question the validity of mathematics. Fiction, if assumed completely truthful, becomes a lie. So if mathematics are purely a human made language created to describe phenomena that cannot be described in another language, how can we ascertain its precision and how much power should we give it in a discussion? Mathematical entities do not exist concretely, yet we give them characteristics and magnitudes that allow them to be ranked, ordered and even to interact amongst ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Defense Mechanisms And The First Defense Mechanism Defense Mechanisms Defense mechanisms are known as ways we protect ourselves from the feelings or things that we do not want to deal with. Defense mechanisms tend to be a way to cope with situations, from which an individual feels anxiety or stressed. Everyone uses defenses mechanisms to help them get through frustrating experiences. There are several types of defense mechanisms; the main ones that I can remember using are regression, denial, projection, repression, rationalization, and displacement. The first defense mechanism I like to uses is regression. Regression helps people by, when someone confronted by stressful events, they sometimes abandon coping strategies and revert to patterns of behavior used earlier in development. The second defense mechanism, I ve used is denial. Denial is simply refusing to acknowledge that an event has occurred, a person acts as if nothing has happened, behaving in ways those others may see as bizarre. In my life, I have only known one person that has past that I have cared about. When she past a couple years ago, I just did not want to believe it. I stayed up almost every night that week, trying to think that it was not real and it was only a dream. Still to this day, I try to tell myself it is not real, but reality hits me and she will always be gone. Personally I can only remember using denial as a defense mechanism once in my life, but I also had a neighbor his name was Cody he was 17 years old and he started using drugs, the changes in his behavior made it pretty obvious to anyone who know him, but Cody s parents just didn t believe. I believe that Cody s parents where in denial; because that was there baby, and they just did not want to believe that there kid would get into that kind of stuff. The third defense mechanism I have used is projection. Stock is a term used to symbolize an investor s ownership in a company. Those who own stocks are commonly called stockholders or shareholders. As a shareholder, an investor theoretically owns a percentage of everything the company owns or owes. The company s profitability, or lack thereof, determines whether its stock is traded at a higher or lower price. While trading of debt and commodities has its origins in the Middle Ages, the modern concept of a stock market began in the late 16th century. Stock markets were started when countries in the New World began trading with each other. As a matter of fact the most sexual active men and women will get at least one type of HPV at some point in their lives. People have known about the Human Papillomavirus since 1956 because a group of scientist discovered it. However, it was not until 1984 that a German Professor by the name of Dr. Harald Zur Hausen put the connection together that HPV and cancer coincide with one another. Since HPV is a STI the common way of contracting it is by having vaginal , anal, or oral sex with someone who has the virus. It is most commonly spread during vaginal or anal sex. HPV can be passed even when an infected person has no signs or symptoms. Because HPV often has no signs or symptoms, males and females can get the virus without knowing it and then pass it on. Anyone who is sexually active can get HPV, even if you have had sex with only one person. You also can develop symptoms years after you have sex with someone who is infected making it hard to know when you first became infected. There are a few HPV vaccines licensed in the United States. The overlap of elements appeals to readers who are accustomed to Biblical language while simultaneously engaging with their imaginative experience of a secular world, an expression that is observed in the epic poem Beowulf. Commonly cited as one of the most important works of Old English literature, the poem provides valuable insight into a culture that resembles our own societal challenges while simultaneously remaining distant from the present day world. This analytical essay will focus on the strategic use of words and phrases and how the poets emphasis on religious association invokes the answers to many central human perplexities. Through its use of repetitive elements and various motifs within Christian and pagan values, the poet builds on the many elements within virtuous philosophy. Although many analytical dissertations interpret the influence that Beowulf s diction has on Christian ideals, it is critical to examine how the poem s religious expression affects its pagan characters.
