The document discusses concepts from Buddhism, including the four immeasurables of loving-kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy, and equanimity. It provides explanations and traditional phrases used in the meditation and cultivation of equanimity. This includes understanding that beings are the owners of their karma, and accepting that happiness and suffering depend on one's actions, not our wishes for others. Equanimity balances heartfelt care with recognizing the limits of our control over external events and others' experiences.
The Imposter Syndrome is a collection of behaviors and negative feelings formed around a pervasive idea and fear that you are not as good as other people think you are. No matter how much praise you receive or what you achieve, this idea does not change.] If you suffer from Imposter Syndrome, you tend to believe that you and what you achieve are never good enough. You also think that you aren't as qualified, as smart, or as talented as others believe, and that you're effectively an "imposter" or a "fake" who hasn't yet been discovered. You don't share your authentic self with others for fear that you will be rejected or devalued in some way. Your energy goes into trying to be perfect lest anyone discover your vulnerabilities or the emotions you perceive as weaknesses.

Self confidence and fearlessness are about following a certain set of rules when you present you to yourself and you to others outside you. Follow these rules and you will never be short on confidence.
We have been told, for the past 40 years, that codependence is a disease or a relationship problem that doesn’t really have a “cure.” The truth is that codependence is a developmental delay and we can grow and develop from where we left off.
The grassroots emergence of codependence in the 80’s was ground-breaking in terms of exposing predictable patterns of relationship behavior that emerge as a result of being brought up in dysfunctional family systems. However, we’ve got stuck in this early work, keeping us from understanding the developmental mechanics of the mind and how it’s possible to get stuck in self-protective patterns.
We have all been operating under the misconception that codependency is due to alcoholic parents, trauma, abuse and other failures of parents to nurture and keep their children safe. While these occurrences stop development, and get the brain stuck in self-protective patterns of behavior, the brain can pick up development AT ANY TIME once the threat is no longer present. It isn’t something to recover from or to be cured.
Knowing you are stuck in a Codependent Relationship Position provides you with the opportunity to resume your development and achieve your potential.

Berne suggests that ego boundaries can be thought of as semi permeable membranes through which psychic energy can flow from one ego state to another. Some people continually act in unpredictable ways and others are so predictable they seem monotonous. These disorders are caused by ego state boundaries which are too lax or tight, have lesions or overlap. This is known as structural pathology.
"Codependency" was presented on Tuesday March 22, 2011, by Ronald E. Harrison; Chemical Dependency Therapist. This program discusses the symptoms and progression of codependency and describes actions and resources that help codependent people to recover from codependency. This program is part of the FREE, annual Dawn Farm Education Series. June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

8. Chapter 9: The Gift of Equanimity
9. Traditional practice phrases:
• All beings are the owners of their karma.
• Their happiness and unhappiness depend upon their actions, not upon
my wishes for them.
10. • Equanimity’s strength derives from a combination of understanding
and trust.
• It is based on understanding that the conflict and frustration we feel
when we can’t control the world doesn’t come from our inability to do
so but rather from the fact that we are trying to control the
uncontrollable.
11. • We know better than to try to prevent the seasons from changing or the tide from
coming in.
• Following autumn, winter comes.
• We may not prefer it, but we trust it because we understand and accept its rightful
place in a larger cycle, a bigger picture.
• Can we apply the same wise balance to the cycles and tides of pleasant,
unpleasant, and neutral experiences in our lives?
12. • To see things as they are, to see the changing nature, to see the
impermanence, to see that constant flow of pleasant and painful events
outside our control—that is freedom.
• Equanimity is taught as the final meditation among the brahma-viharas
because it provides the balance for lovingkindness, compassion, and
sympathetic joy.
13. • Equanimity balances those heartfelt wishes with the recognition that things are the
way they are.
• However much we may wish for something, most results are beyond our control.
• Equanimity is likened to the way parents feel when their children become adults.
14. • The parents have nurtured, have given so much care, have been loving, and then at
some point they have to let go.
• They don’t do so with a cold feeling of withdrawal.
• They don’t throw the adult child out of the house, saying,
• “Well, it was nice, but we don’t really need each other anymore.”
15. • Equanimity has all of the warmth and love of the previous three states, but it also
has balance, wisdom, and the understanding that things are as they are, and that
we cannot ultimately control someone else’s happiness and unhappiness.
Equanimity meditation:
• All beings are the owners of their karma.
• Their happiness and unhappiness depend on their actions, not on my wishes for
them.
16. • This does not mean that we do not care.
• We do and we should care.
• We choose to open our hearts and to offer as much love, compassion,
and rejoicing as we possibly can, and we also let go of results.
17. • In the end, we have to recognize where the boundaries actually are, what our
responsibility really is, and where the source of happiness truly lies.
• If that friend does not change their behavior, they will suffer no matter how long
and ardently we wish otherwise.
• Still, we continue to offer them metta and compassion, but we do this with the
wisdom and acceptance that they are ultimately responsible for their own actions.
18. • In contemporary psychological terms we would call this the release from
codependency.
• Codependency: excessive emotional or psychological reliance on a partner,
typically one who requires support on account of an illness or addiction.
• Equanimity’s understanding of relatedness helps us to comprehend the profound
law of karma.
19. • The Buddha called this law “the light of the world,” because it illuminates the
causes of happiness and suffering and clarifies the path to changing our condition.
• The Buddha said that karma is so profound that it is actually unfathomable to
anyone who does not have a buddha’s mental capacities.
20. • The intentions or motives that underlie all of our words and actions plant seeds.
• Certain kinds of intentions will inevitably bear fruits of the same type.
• This also is an infallible law of nature.
21. • Wholesome intentions—like lovingkindness, compassion, honesty,
and respect for the lives and property of others—if they manifest in
action will sooner or later bear us the fruits of happiness.
• Unwholesome intentions—like hatred, cruelty, duplicity—will bear us
the fruits of suffering if we express them in words or deeds. No action
is without consequences.
