While there are multiple consolidation options to consider, upgrading an existing data center has a significantly lower capital investment, requires no new real estate acquisition, can be phased to match IT refresh cycles and IT virtualization, and can be done while the data center is live. This session explores these considerations which are particularly important in the Federal space as well as a high density POD overlay discussion and approaches to reducing PUE.

Virtualization and Cloud Computing: Optimized Power, Cooling, and Management ...Schneider Electric
IT virtualization, the engine behind cloud computing, can have significant consequences on the data center physical infrastructure (DCPI). Higher power densities that often result can challenge the cooling capabilities of an existing system. Reduced overall energy consumption that typically results from physical server consolidation may actually worsen the data center’s power usage effectiveness (PUE). Dynamic loads that vary in time and location may heighten the risk of downtime if rack-level power and cooling health are not understood and considered. Finally, the fault-tolerant nature of a highly virtualized environment could raise questions about the level of redundancy required in the physical infrastructure. These particular effects of virtualization are discussed and possible solutions or methods for dealing with them are offered.
Human error is directly attributable to 70% of data center outages according to the Uptime Institute. Power Strategies for Data Center Efficiency – Identifying Cost Reduction Opportunities
In a survey conducted by the Uptime Institute, enterprise data center managers responded that 42% of them expected to run out of power capacity within 12-24 months and another 23% claimed that they would run out of power capacity in 24-60 months. Greater attention to energy efficiency and consumption is critical.

How Data Center Infrastructure Management Software Improves Planning and Cuts...Schneider Electric
Business executives are challenging their IT staffs to convert data centers from cost centers into producers of business value. This presentation demonstrates, through a series of examples, how data center infrastructure management (DCIM) software tools can simplify operational processes, cut costs, and speed up information delivery.
Field work is an aspect of operations and asset management that presents many challenges to utilities. Managers need efficient ways to instruct crews on the location and details of work. Field crews need intuitive and focused software tools that enable them to find and accomplish their work. But paper-based processes are still used for field work at our utility and many others. Why? Because typical mobile solutions are difficult to deploy, license, secure, integrate with enterprise systems, and maintain over time. Our resources are already stretched thin, so adding or expanding a complex solution is just not feasible.
This presentation proposes the mobile work management solution of our dreams. Imagine a solution that is simple to implement and addresses the variety of field work that our organization needs to accomplish. Our field personnel could deploy lightweight apps to their mobile devices in just minutes, log in seamlessly with their existing corporate credentials, and access their work instantly. They could work without internet connectivity, and their updates would be automatically synchronized to the enterprise when connectivity is re-established.
This dream mobile solution would enable the secure, unimpeded flow of digital information between the office and the field, accelerating our essential business workflows. We could quickly add as many users as needed to accomplish the task of the day. The solution would recognize that all field work has a location, and leverage our existing facility GIS to define work locations. Data captured in the field would include the information most relevant to our business, including work status and results, GPS breadcrumb trails, redline sketches of situations, and proposed edits to asset data.
We believe that the mobile work management solution of our dreams is within reach with today’s technology, and that it will truly lower our cost of doing business.

Slide deck of the webinar presented by John Dirkman on Oct. 23, 2013.
The presence of highly variable renewables and distributed energy resources is rapidly increasing within distribution systems, resulting in the potential for problems like reverse power flow, impact on voltage profile, and more complex protection schemes.
During this webinar, John Dirkman, Senior Director of Smart Grid Strategy & Development at Schneider Electric, explored how an Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS), combined with an accurate weather forecasting system, can be used to resolve problems and increase benefits of both renewables and distributed energy resources.
Key Learning Objectives:
- Learn how renewables and distributed energy resources can impact an electric distribution system.
- Discover ways to manage and optimize renewables and distributed energy resources using ADMS.
- Integration of an accurate weather forecasting system with ADMS maximizes benefits from renewables.
- Distributed energy resources and demand response are components of microgrids, also managed by ADMS.
Electricity usage costs have become an increasing fraction of the total cost of ownership (TCO) for data centers. It is possible to dramatically reduce the electrical consumption of typical data centers through appropriate design of the data center physical infrastructure and through the design of the IT architecture. This paper explains how to quantify the electricity savings and provides examples of methods that can greatly reduce electrical power consumption.

Eco-Mode: Benefits and Risks of Energy Saving Modes of UPS OperationSchneider Electric
Many newer UPS systems have an energy-saving operating mode known as "eco-mode" or by some other descriptor. Nevertheless, surveys show that virtually no data centers actually use this mode, because of the known or anticipated side-effects. Unfortunately, the marketing materials for these operating modes do not adequately explain the cost / benefit tradeoffs. This presentation shows that eco-mode provides a reduction of approximately 2% in data center energy consumption and explains the various limitations and concerns that arise from eco-mode use. Situations where these operating modes are recommended and contra-indicated are also described.
The wide range of processes within the successful business, from planning to strategic implementation, requires accurate and ready information throughout. The cast of personnel involved across the business operation requires widely varying types of information to perform their assignments. In all, the successful business requires a powerful Business Intelligence technology.
Discussion covers the constitution and requirements of the effective Corporate Information Factory (CIF) Architecture. The Data Warehouse component of the CIF Architecture must be a flexible and reliable store of company information that allows a high degree of differentiation in data selection, modeling and analysis.
Next, the ETL processes — extract, transform and load — are responsible for accurately populating the Data Warehouse with information and enabling the use of this data. Again, differentiating methodologies, along with validating performance testing, must be accommodated.
Third, Business Intelligence tools for multi-dimensional analysis, budgeting and forecasting, efficient reporting, and data mining for enhanced insight assure the proper information is accessed for each specific business process. Developing and implementing the CIF Architecture involves definition of short-, medium-, and long-term objectives for the system as well as definition of the elements involved.
When a company implements a Business Intelligence technology, it is important that risk factors be identified and evaluated, including the scope and degree of difficulty of information integration, speed and adaptability, utility and practicality for the employee, and long-term effectiveness.
Schneider Electric Business Intelligence services are based on the company’s vast experience in helping organizations define their BI policies and develop their BI Architecture. It offers a productive competence center for consulting support, a proven product portfolio that allows efficient and effective development of specific BI solutions, and highly reliable technical assistance for specific needs or longer term. Several successful Business Intelligence technology solutions implemented by Schneider Electric are described.

ScottMadden has developed an approach for analyzing data center requirements and driving improvements in existing data center retrofits. Our approach takes into account the technological requirements, the physical attributes of a data center, and the requirements for a rigorous measurement and verification program needed to ensure improvements actually capture the energy efficiently gains and the resultant greenhouse gas reductions.
Our approach addresses the latest trends in data center management such as virtualization and cloud computing and provide a framework for developing metrics needed to drive changes in data center performance.

In a typical building base-load analysis will identify the server room, if one is present, at the top of the list of “out of hours” consumption. In recent years server rooms have been built nearly always with mechanical cooling. In many cases we find that the cooling plant is consuming as much energy as the servers.
David Green, Head of Workshops at the University of Cambridge, will present the Department of Engineering server room journey. He has transformed one of his large server rooms by using free cooling and cold aisle warm aisle containment and learnt a lot along the way.
Going Modular? Lessons learned from 500 modular data center implementations
Everyday we face unpredictable demands from the business and continue to drive new technology and compute models in to our data centers. These are the challenges we all face in how to best design our next data center. Learn how to extend the life of your existing data center, rationalize your overall data center portfolio or design new data centers to lower your data center’s costs. We will discuss proven data center design approaches from implementing 500 modular data centers around the world that address data center availability, capacity, capital, and operating costs in a cost effective and flexible manner, providing capacity when and where it is needed.
Presentation Originally Given at the Wall Street Technology Association's (WSTA) - March 2011 Boston Seminar: Financial Services Infrastructure Management
The data center market has expanded dramatically in the past few years, and it doesn’t show signs of slowing down. Many clients and building owners are requesting modular data centers, which can be placed anywhere data capacity is needed. Modular data centers can help cash-strapped building owners add a new data center (or more capacity) to their site, and can assist facilities with unplanned outages, such as disruptions due to storms. Owners look to modular data centers to accelerate the “floor ready” date as compared to a traditional brick and mortar.

Exceeding the Limits of Air Cooling to Unlock Greater Potential in HPCinside-BigData.com
In this deck from the Perth HPC Conference, Werner Scholz from XENON Systems presents: Exceeding the Limits of Air Cooling to Unlock Greater Potential in HPC.
"A decade ago, 100 watts per CPU was devastating to thermal design. Today, Intel’s highest performing CPUs (e.g. Intel Cascade Lake-AP 9282 processor) have a thermal design envelope of 400 watts. There really is no end in sight, and accommodating more power is critical to advancing performance. The ability to dissipate the resulting heat is the hard ceiling that systems face in terms of performance – giving greater importance to liquid cooling breakthroughs. With liquid cooling, less energy is expended to cool systems – a significant savings in HPC deployments with arrays of servers drawing energy and generating heat. Electrical current drives the CPU and enables it to function. This electrical power is converted into thermal energy (heat). To maintain a stable temperature, the CPU needs to be cooled by efficiently removing this heat and releasing it. Liquid cooling is the best way to cool a system because liquid transfers heat much more efficiently than air. From an environmental perspective, liquid cooling reduces both those characteristics to create a smarter and more ecological approach on a grand scale. The cascade of value continues, as ambient heat removed from systems can then be used to heat buildings and augment or replace traditional heating systems. It’s an intelligent approach to thermal management, distributing the economic value of reduced energy use and transforming heat into an enterprise asset."

More Distributed: With such a widespread electrification and connectivity, energy models need rethinking as well. Which is why the generation of power needs to be closer to users. Distributed Energy is rapidly evolving globally. This is positive energy – renewable. In 2014 , Renewables overtook fossil fuels in investment value, with $295bn invested in renewables compared to $289bn invested in fossil fuels. And it is getting cheaper to do this.
More Efficient: When our world is more electric, more connected and more distributed, new opportunities emerge and allows us to tap into even more efficiency – in industrial processes, in the energy value chain, in buildings, in transportation, in the global supply chain and even in the comfort and peace-of-mind of our homes.
With more than $18 billion in M&A activity in the first half of last year alone, the colocation industry is riding the bubble of rapid growth. Colocation data center providers are being evaluated by a wide range of investors, with varying experience and perspectives. Understanding the evaluation criteria is a critical competency for attracting the right type of investor and financial commitment for your colocation business and this is why we have invited today’s speaker to present.

We’ve all been hearing about how robust the market for data center space is, but a presentation by an investment banker who has his finger on the pulse on the market day in and day out gave me a new appreciation for how great the opportunity really is.
Herb May is a partner and managing director with DH Capital, an investment bank founded 15 years ago in New York that is focused on the Internet infrastructure space. His company has been involved in close to 100 deals, representing almost $20 billion in value. Most of DH Capital’s work is as a mergers and acquisitions advisor, but raising capital is a growing percentage of its business. The point is, the company understands the financials behind data centers and colocation companies inside and out.

Within healthcare facilities, high availability of systems is a key influencer of revenue and patient safety and satisfaction. Three important critical success factors need to be addressed in order to achieve safety and availability goals. These include exceeding the facility’s level of regulatory compliance, a linking of business benefits to the maintenance of a safe and an “always on” power and ventilation environment, and a sensible approach to technology upgrades that includes new strategies for “selling” technological improvements to executives. This reference guide offers recommendations for identifying and addressing each of these issues.

Memorandum Of Association Constitution of Company.pptseri bangash
www.seribangash.com
A Memorandum of Association (MOA) is a legal document that outlines the fundamental principles and objectives upon which a company operates. It serves as the company's charter or constitution and defines the scope of its activities. Here's a detailed note on the MOA:
Contents of Memorandum of Association:
Name Clause: This clause states the name of the company, which should end with words like "Limited" or "Ltd." for a public limited company and "Private Limited" or "Pvt. Ltd." for a private limited company.
https://seribangash.com/article-of-association-is-legal-doc-of-company/
Registered Office Clause: It specifies the location where the company's registered office is situated. This office is where all official communications and notices are sent.
Objective Clause: This clause delineates the main objectives for which the company is formed. It's important to define these objectives clearly, as the company cannot undertake activities beyond those mentioned in this clause.
www.seribangash.com
Liability Clause: It outlines the extent of liability of the company's members. In the case of companies limited by shares, the liability of members is limited to the amount unpaid on their shares. For companies limited by guarantee, members' liability is limited to the amount they undertake to contribute if the company is wound up.
https://seribangash.com/promotors-is-person-conceived-formation-company/
Capital Clause: This clause specifies the authorized capital of the company, i.e., the maximum amount of share capital the company is authorized to issue. It also mentions the division of this capital into shares and their respective nominal value.
Association Clause: It simply states that the subscribers wish to form a company and agree to become members of it, in accordance with the terms of the MOA.
Importance of Memorandum of Association:
Legal Requirement: The MOA is a legal requirement for the formation of a company. It must be filed with the Registrar of Companies during the incorporation process.
Constitutional Document: It serves as the company's constitutional document, defining its scope, powers, and limitations.
Protection of Members: It protects the interests of the company's members by clearly defining the objectives and limiting their liability.
External Communication: It provides clarity to external parties, such as investors, creditors, and regulatory authorities, regarding the company's objectives and powers.
https://seribangash.com/difference-public-and-private-company-law/
Binding Authority: The company and its members are bound by the provisions of the MOA. Any action taken beyond its scope may be considered ultra vires (beyond the powers) of the company and therefore void.
Amendment of MOA:
While the MOA lays down the company's fundamental principles, it is not entirely immutable. It can be amended, but only under specific circumstances and in compliance with legal procedures. Amendments typically require shareholder

Improving Your PUE While Consolidating Into
An Existing Live Data Center
Jay Owen
VP, IT Federal Solutions
Tweet Live!
#SchneiderXE
2. 2
Objectives
Upon Completion of this course, you will be able to
● Identify the percentage of commercial data center operators that plan to
use co-location or cloud to meet future data center requirements
● Identify three reasons why a new data center is built
● Identify three reasons why an existing data center is upgraded
● Identify four consolidation options
● Identify the typical range of IT cabinets in a pod
● Identify attributes of a high-density pod
● Typical PUE
● Rack densities
● Raised floor requirements
● Options
● Benefits
3. 3
Consolidation options
●Move IT to the cloud
●Move IT to Co-Location
●Build new larger data centers and consolidate
into them
●Upgrade selected existing data centers and
consolidate into them
What are commercial customers doing, and why?
4. 4
Moving IT to cloud or co-location
● Only 50% of commercial data center operators plan to use co-
location or cloud to meet future data center requirements*
(remainder to be met with in-house data centers)
● Rarely is an entire data center moved to cloud or co-location
● Moves to cloud or co-location often free up capacity across
existing data centers, increasing the need to consolidate
● Uncertainty regarding use of cloud increases the risk of building
new data centers
*Survey by 451 group, presented at the Uptime Symposium, May 2012
Moves to cloud and co-location do not decrease the need to
consolidate, but actually increase this need
5. 5
Typical concept: Build new data center
and consolidate into it
● When the goal is to consolidate a large number of data centers
into a single very large data center (~20 MW)
● A large capital project is feasible (~$400 M)
● High rate of IT growth is anticipated
● When the stock of existing data centers is considered hopelessly
ineffective (space, energy efficiency, power density)
● When there is a commonality of IT functions across the data
centers
● When the consolidation can be forced top-down in the organization
● When harmonized standards can be imposed across all of the IT
systems
6. 6
New concept: Upgrade selected existing
data centers and consolidate into them
● Appropriate when consolidating 2-5 data centers into one
● When some of the existing IT is moving to the cloud or co-location
● Much lower capital investment
● No new real estate acquisition
● Consolidation projects are not organization-wide but are operated
within independent departments
● Can be phased to match IT refreshes
● Can be done while receiving data center is live
7. 7
Example of a High Density Pod
Two Pod installation at US Army Fort Bliss
8. 8
The High-Density Pod Overlay Method
● Method for upgrading existing data centers
● Self-contained “Pods” of data center infrastructure are placed in
existing data center space
● Pod size typically 10-20 cabinets
● Typically includes integrated air conditioning and power distribution
● Optionally contains integrated UPS
● Pods operate with superior performance
● Much higher energy efficiency (typical PUE less than 1.4)
● Much higher power density (up to 20 KW per cabinet)
● Pod does not need to rely on existing infrastructure
● Does not require raised floor
● Does not require air supply
