During the presentation, I will share how I supported a national-winning team of middle
school students to develop their STEM-related mobile app through on-site training and
other virtual scaffolding mechanism. I will discuss the tips, challenges, and lessons
learned based on my reflection as a computing educator. This presentation should provide
practical information that can be applied to other contexts of computing education as it
involves various aspects that are commonly relevant, such as project management,
communication, and technical consideration during app development. I hope my sharing
of the rewarding experiences with the community can help encourage more quality
educators and App Inventor enthusiasts to consider applying to join App Inventor

education through this venue. (Learn more about: 2014 Verizon Innovative App

You are the Product Manager for Google Meet for Education. You need to improve the core User Experience of education customers. For G-Suite for Education users, you have to:
1. Suggest feature improvements to Google Meet (Optional: Using wireframes)
2. Ideate a controlled testing strategy to incorporate user feedback about the new
features
3. Identify key metrics to track at full-scale rollout
The solution-
We enhanced the utility of G-Meet by introducing features like-
1. Taking Notes Made Easy
2. Introducing a Time Counter
3. Tile Interface
4. Attendance keeper
5. Gestures & Teaching Utilities
6. Take a break

This report analyzes the decision by the Digital Media Design Technology (DMDT) program to not sell Adobe Student Edition software to students. It finds that this decision disadvantages students in several ways. It costs too much for students to purchase the individual software programs themselves. The campus labs have limited hours and availability. Many students do not have enough time after class to work on projects due to other commitments like work or long commutes. Selling a student edition at a discounted price would allow students to access the necessary software from home and make better use of their time. The report recommends negotiating an agreement with Adobe to sell a student edition specifically for DMDT students.
The document outlines a proposed workshop to teach students how to create educational videos using Eduis software. It will be conducted over 4 sessions for 30 computer science and ILT students. The workshop will utilize blended learning by combining lectures, group work, and online components. Students will learn basic editing skills and how to incorporate video, audio, and images. They will create an educational video applying what they learned, which will be evaluated along with the workshop's effectiveness. The goal is for students to be able to professionally produce videos using Eduis tools and features.
This presentation summarizes three Web 2.0 tools - YOUniversityTV.com, Aviary, and Picnik - that were selected to empower learners. The document describes a proposed workshop to teach students how to create educational videos using Eduis software. It includes a learner analysis identifying target students from computer science and ILT departments who want to learn video editing skills. The workshop will apply the ASSURE instructional design model over several weeks. Students will learn basic editing, transitions, combining video/audio/images, and evaluating their work. A blended learning approach combining face-to-face and online elements is proposed to maximize interaction while providing flexibility. Participation, evaluation, and revision will help ensure the objectives of designing creative videos are achieved.

The document discusses various technologies that could be used in physical education (PE), including the Nintendo Wii, video recording, and smartphone apps. It outlines positives and negatives for each. The Wii allows for fun, engaging exercise while developing skills, but may be difficult for large classes or costly. Video recording enables feedback but relies on proper equipment and permissions. Apps provide interactive learning tools, though students' access to technology cannot be assumed. On balance, the positives of technology use in elementary PE outweigh the potential negatives in terms of student learning and health.

The document discusses producing a chemistry revision web app for year 10/11 students to use on phones, laptops, and tablets before their core chemistry exam. Around 75% of students said they would use it for revision but actual usage appeared low. Reasons included that the app was completed only 2 weeks before the exam when most students had already begun "proper revision" and the app was not engaging enough without being able to run games. Future improvements could include making it a standalone app with offline content through programming skills.

Google Meets is a conferencing app that allows
teachers and students to utilize video
communication for real time feedback. (4)
Google Meets forces students to think and make
decisions quickly as if they were present in the
classroom. (5)
Students are able to easy join calls with a link
provided by the teacher. While in the call,
students call change the viewing layout with the
click of a button. Students can also share their
screen with the rest of the class if the teacher
allows it. (6)
Only students who have the link to the specific
meeting can get into the call. The teacher can
also block outsiders from joining the call. (7)
Students have to demonstrate their knowledge of
many things in the classroom that virtual
students have a hard time with. Google Meets
helps bridge the gap between students who
participate virtually and those who are in person.
(8)
The app walks you through how to use it the first
time your google account joins a meeting or
when you set up a meeting on the app. It shows
users how to change viewing layouts, how to use
the chat box, and how to share a screen. (9)
7. Google Meets
Covid-19 caused schools to rethink their educational processes. One of the
things that had to be done differently was the way teachers interacted with
their students. Some students were in the physical classroom while others
were trying to learn at home. Google Meets was used in many classrooms
including my own. It was the only way students at home could learn and keep
up with school because they were able to log onto their computers and join
my class everyday.
9. TeamBuildr
TeamBuildr is a training app that allows
coaches to create workouts for their players.
Players are able to access the workout on their
phone and type in their weights, reps, and
notes about how they felt during the lift. (4)
TeamBuildr allows players to set goals and work
to achieve those goals. (5)
TeamBuildr is very easy to use. Coaches create
the workout and set the sets and reps. Players
are able to view the workouts and type in their
weights and reps. (6)
When coaches create a team they create a team
name and a password. Players join their team’s
TeamBuildr by typing in the username and
password. Only the coach can see all the players
and determine what the rest of the team sees.
The privacy of the app is up to the coach. (7)
Player have to demonstrate their knowledge of
different kinds of lifts and exercises. This is a
good app to have students in a P.E. class learn
how to navigate it. (8)
The app provides a “lets get started” page at the
beginning and lays out how to navigate it. (9)
10. TeamBuildr
This is an app for coaches and teachers of kinesiology or P.E. courses. I have
plans to become a coach in the future and believe this app will be useful. We
have been using this app this year with the baseball team and it has helped us
set and keep track of our weights over the course of the semester.
12. iMovie
iMovie is not an app where teachers and
students can interact. It does not allow for
student feedback. (4)
iMovie allows students to create videos to
express their knowledge of information using a
media outlet. (5)
iMovie is easy for students to use. There is no
account that has to be made. Users just have to
download the app and upload videos to begin. (6)
iMovie is private. The best way to share videos is
to download them from the app and share
through a USB hard drive. (7)
Students have to demonstrate their knowledge of
content standards through the use of a
technology based project and iMovie fulfills that
requirement. (8)
The app provides a “lets get started” page at the
beginning and lays out how to navigate it. It
highlights certain buttons to show off the app’s
different features. (9)
13. iMovie
We included iMovie to our list of must have apps in the classroom because of
its unique way of bringing content to life. Anyone can write a three page
research paper, but sometimes different outlets are necessary. Some
students have a knack for creating interesting videos and teachers may be
surprised with how they are able to communicate their knowledge through a
video.

Vocabulary builder is a private app that can be
used to connect with others. There is an option
to play against someone else where students
have to select the definition of a word in a certain
amount of time. (7)
Students have to demonstrate their knowledge of
content standards by passing the levels in the
app. (8)
The app does not tell you how to navigate it. It
only has a few buttons to choose from when you
log in so it is not very hard to figure out what to
do. (9)
16. Vocabulary Builder
This App made the list because we believe that it is important to incorporate
vocabulary into weekly instruction. Increasing a student’s vocabulary can
increase the brain’s connections and processing speed. It also helps students
improve scores on standardized tests. There are so many ways for students to
learn new vocabulary, but Vocabulary Builder makes it easier for students to
retain the information due to repetition.
