Fraser Hardwick is considering different options for their final major product and is initially drawn to creating a short film, though acknowledges it will require the most work. They plan to develop an elaborate backstory if choosing a film and must film within the next two weeks to take advantage of available resources. Hardwick also discusses emulating noir films by exploring genres not often covered by other students and drawing inspiration from Blade Runner and L.A. Noir. 2. Initial Reaction
My initial reaction to the Final major product is that I really want to do a Film, although this idea is
probably the most stressful and most work will go into it compared to other product doing a High risk
high reward. As well as something I would be passionate about.
Although I know that a videogame and print I did really well at in the mini production and if I where to
do it again I could probably perfect on what I failed on before because of how recent I did it.
If I where to do a short film id probably make a website and a whole bigger back story to it. Just giving
more lore that the viewer and the die hard audience can look into themselves.
The cast and locations are not too much of a problem. Although this means jumping the gun and filming
next 2 weeks because that’s the only time I’ll have the recourses to be making an effective film. So I am
worried and existing at the same time. Hopefully paying off for the high risk high reward.
The other plans will be to try an emulate noir films, this is because I know a lot of the content that
students make will be comical or may not even touch up on this genera. This is why I want to create this
product because I know that it wouldn't be as appealing to make. So I'm risking a lot making a film like
this because some people may not be interested in the ideas I explore. Although saying this can open
up new inspirations for future films.
What I'm going to do is use films I
already know and ether games I play ill
use this to shape my project. Films like
blade runner and the game LA. Noir.
These will shape how my film turns out
with the feel and style of LA. Noir but
the Neo-Noir of Blade runner.

3. Pros and cons
Pros
– Noir films seem to be not made recently so there
is a gap where a noir film can be made so there's a
gap in the market. Making a film will fill that gap.

This is a mind map of what I would do if I was filming, showing off my ideas and the
variety of film I was thinking of for my short film. Having the ideas of a serious film and
something abit more comical. Although I want to do something serious because we’ve
seen humor before by me (or an attempt at humor.) and want to expand my horizons

about topics and it my idea trying to get people into the swing of what's going on in the

Is there any repetition in the images you have collected?
Repeated colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
• What I got from the colours is a real noir feel to the work like
an classic American noir film with modern aspects. Detective
dark and dramatic images are what I was going for.
• As well as lots of close ups on random objects like a coffee cup
or pack of cigarettes giving a really dark tone especially with
the black and white too.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
– What ill do is use the shots of objects show in the images to let the
story progress and feel less jumpy to the audience members.
– As well as the black and white theme. I like an idea of a classic noir
flick.
