Fraser Hardwick received peer feedback on a short film he created. The feedback was generally positive, with peers liking the action sequences, violence, and music. However, some noted that there was too much fighting without enough context or character motivation. They also said some dialogue was muffled. Based on the feedback, Fraser made edits to the film before its full release, including adjusting audio levels. He plans to release the final cut of the film on his YouTube channel on May 24th.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
2. PEER FEEDBACK
• For this section I will have people write down how they feel about the short part of my film
I showed them giving feedback to me to help me in future projects as well as perfecting
this film making it better for pre-release.
3. PEER FEEDBACK
Liked:
• I liked how there was violence, however it wasn’t gruesome which made it watchable
• The background music really fit the genre
Disliked:
• I think there was too much fighting, to get more context to the story would be great.
Because there would be more of a drive for the characters too fight.
• Some of the dialog is muffled so much that I cant understand what the villain is saying.
4. PEER FEEDBACK
Liked:
• Films action sequences are shot well for a student film.
• Very good use of shots in action sequences
Disliked:
• Lack of dialogue or motivation to do some of the actions that are done in the film.
5. PEER FEEDBACK
Liked:
• Constant violence and action sequences making the film enjoyable to watch.
• 1v1 fights make every enjoyment in the film that more hyper due to the fact its all down to
one person out fighting the other making the fighting more of a immersive experience.
• The lack of dialogue was nice because I dint need explaining on what was going on all I
needed to know was shown in the film
• Story was really self explanatory meaning I dint have to listen to the diaolgue that much
Disliked:
• Lower the volume when Derik gets knocked out
• Some of the gunshots where out of time with the muzzle flash.
6. PEER FEEDBACK
Liked:
• Loved the last fight
• Action was well rehearsed and couragraphed
• sound effects for the hits where good
• Action was well in tune with the fight
Disliked:
• Turn up the volume when will is speaking
• Frasers voice needs to be turned up
• Hits and impacts needs to sound more real in the nomad and crossbar fight
7. FILM RESPONSE AND GROWTH
• Before the initial release I made a short trailer for the film to see how the public would
responded to the idea of my film. This trailer met 112 views one month hopefully meaning
this film will have an initial response like that. All these thing have already been posted on
social media so people do have an idea of the films date and what time it'll be released.
• With the feedback given I updated my film as soon as I got it. Making sure everything that
could be changed was and making it not clash with any of the other feedback. With all of
this I created another cut of the film. With this cut it will be the final screening that I will
show. This cut will be published on the 24th of may on my YouTube channel for the public
to see.
8. PLANNING AND RESEARCH
• What went well with the planning was I had enough other films and media to go from. This
meant I could grab things from certain films and add them to mine. Having all of these bits
of media to go off of it meant I also knew how to make a good film. Planning helped me
see mostly what not to do and where copying can be bad. Therefor what I tried to do is
copy some of the best arts of my favorite films and create my film based round that.
• Some of the issues with planning was trying to get a variety of different topics on the
same subject with the main theme being post apocalyptic it was finding the different types
and styles for my film.
• Another bit of research that helped was watching all of the products that I reviewed over.
Taking as much as I can from each film with seeing all the shots in the film in the diolouge
I made notes and added it to my research.
9. PRODUCTION
Production was one of the hardest parts of the whole process due to the time and reliability of
the type of work I'm doing. One of the biggest problems being people and crew showing up on
time. With the way to working around by doing all the sound work with the cast and crew who
made it to set therefor the time spent waiting wouldn’t be wasted waiting on people to show
up.
Another part of production was making sure everything we needed for the shoot. This was
done by the help sheets I made with a check list of what I needed for that shoot. I did run into
a problem once leaving a prop behind this meant an action sequence we where going to shoot
couldn't’t be shot. We improved and made it so the story didn't’t need that item to progress on
still getting the shots in and making something out of the film. Having a day where we were
able to film helped because it meant I could stick to the schedule as much as possible for the
editing restrictions.
10. PROBLEMS
• TECHNICAL Problems:
• Making sure that the camera looked the same as it did from the last shoot
because not having this meant all the shots looked so different and having to
do lots of colour editing in after effects. Trying to make every shot look all the
same colour wise and shot wise. Doing all of this will mean the film flows really
smoothly and you may not be able to see the change in camera.
• EMOTIONAL Problems:
• Having a big cast meant that having everyone for the shoot was a must at
times. This meant when some people that could show up or didn’t would really
affect the production. With this when someone didn't’t show up we had to
improvise making everyone suddenly having to change the plan for that day.
• Another problem we ran into ,was the cast. Some of our members where
different personality's compared to others and that caused some slow work
days the only way I could work round it was adapting the story o kill
people/characters off therefor they wont have to come for another shoot.
11. PROBLEMS
Management:
This was probably the hardest bit of filming. Due to having so much power because it was my
project it really was a pain to make sure that everything was right and the way I wanted it.
when I was in shot this made it harder to review because I wasn’t shooting it. Another part of
management was getting the showing done and ready with my friend. That we wanted to show
our films to the public in a cinema environment. This involved getting everyone work together
into a file where they can just play it at the screening. As well as getting the advertising out for
all to see.
Missed opportunity's:
I feel like with more time I could have given more development in the story and a clear image
of the characters dives in the film. With that we could of got a more in depth story. As well as
people may see more into the characters life.
Another thing I would of liked to do is more gun effects and shoot outs but due to budget and
time I would have all the props of the funds that’s why the film was how it was. Meaning there
was less gunplay then what I wanted meaning the main focus was hand to hand combat.
12. ADVERTISING
• How I made sure my film
got out was creating
promotional material and
posting it on social media.
What I did was post an
update on my social media
and then linked it all to the
film I made there was
already hype for the film
from the trailer I made so
having this all at the ready
really helped make my film
stand out. So people are
ready for the film by word
of mouth and people who
are already subscribed to
my channel.
