Initial Plans

Initial Reaction
My initial reaction to this project is that I am comfortable with the amount of time that has been given to
produce it. Immediately I have gravitated towards the short film genre as this is the medium that I enjoyed and
found myself most comfortable and enthusiastic about doing. I have also been drawn towards an audio based
project such as a radio show or a podcast as this is something I have not ventured to yet however I feel I will be
most successful doing a film based project. The genres that I would like to experiment with are thriller, horror
and possibly documentary. As with my first film project I would like to expand on some more visual effects as I
felt this made my project more unique and also professional.
My time management, I believe, will be a lot better in this project as there is a lot more freedom to plan,
experiment and execute without an impending deadline. This has been my main weakness about the project as
I felt it was a large pressure and hindered me from completing the work to my fullest capability which is what I
plan to improve on hugely in this project. I will manage my time by creating a schedule for myself both physical
and digital that I can follow and make notes on my progress which will also help for my evaluation.
I also have an advantage this project by bringing my laptop to college which will allow me to centralise my work
and have everything in the same place so I may then finish, catch up or edit my work at home. The software I
will mainly be using will be the Adobe CC programs which I have grown comfortable with over the year. The
programs I will be using mainly will be Premiere Pro, Photoshop and After Effects which is what I used to create
my original film.
Reflecting on my past projects, I would say that film was the most enjoyable and creatively suited project for
me to undertake and with ultimate freedom I believe I could create a project that would be professional and
make myself proud.
I am going to make a short film however I am not sure what the overall genre will be however I found that my
strengths were in abstract artistic style pieces as with my short film piece.

Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected?

How will your mood board influence your final product?
The repetition on my mood board is mainly found in the use of colours. The images I have
collected all use colour effectively to show different moods and emphasise objects or characters
in the films. This could be through the lack of colour, like black and white, or the specific outlining
of a colour within a dark background. I have also collected a lot of visual effects based images as
this is an aspect I would like to use within my film and experiment within in my pre production.
Through YouTube tutorials and online advice, I plan to create some minor visual effects within to
enhance the feel of the film.
These mood boards have helped me contextualise existing products which I could potentially take
inspiration from. I am very focused on creat
As with my first film project, I believe my mood board will play a huge part in the pre production
phase of my film when deciding on a colour scheme and certain motifs that I may use within the
film. It also came in handy in post production when adjusting contrast, brightness and colour to
create the mood that I wanted.
