• As part of my brief I have been given the opportunity to create any product in any medium of my choosing; video
game, movie, print or film. I could create a magazine, posters, podcast as examples, I could even create a group of
products for a fake business created. I have eight weeks to create this project. I aim to look at digital art in this
project as this is where my strengths lie and is the project I enjoyed doing most this year, the genres available to
me are advertisements for an event, a cover for a video game or music cover. I am also drawn to this because I do
photography outside of college time which I'm alright and enjoy, so I could incorporate this into my project. I
didn’t enjoy the editing when it came to film making and animation as I found it tedious so I'm not drawn to do
any video work, even though my video game animation was one of my stronger projects. I also have the software
at home to do graphics as I have Photoshop and Lightroom, which I am reasonably skilled at both, whereas I do
not have any video editing software as I have never been very interested which means I am very lacking in skill.
Other software that I will use in my FMP is Word and PowerPoint, these will help me to document my research
and project planning and evaluation, this will be useful as I will be able to refer back to these documents in my
production to see what I need to do to make the project better. I will not have to borrow any hardware as I have
my own, the only real hardware I would need is a camera as I am currently more drawn to doing a print project.
When it comes to the development of the project my production is where my strengths lie as am able to use basic
features in most adobe programs, which are the programs we use in class. However my research and planning
often isn’t as strong, especially my planning. It is often lacking in depth, this means when it comes to production I
often don’t follow a structured path and the final product can be very different from what I planned. So when I
come to scheduling my project I will allow myself more time to do planning before I rush to do production, as this
will allow me to have a more structured development. I could manage my time by creating my schedule that
allocates me time to do certain tasks, I could also create a Gantt chart to block out time as well, this would me
more useful when working in hours rather than days. Reflection in this project will be important for my FMP as I
will be able to see what is good and bad about my project, and I will be able to go back and edit things that I
dislike about the project.
• In conclusion my overall reaction is to make a print project, this will loosely be based around music, however I do
not know entirely what I will create.

Mood Board Analysis
In the images I have collected it is quite apparent that most of the posters and advertising
material is often very bright in colour, or at least is very contrasting, for example The Who
poster is very lacking in colour. However the contrast between the black and white is very
bold which is very eye catching and creates a distinct look. Fonts are clearly very important
in the designs, often reflecting the artists overall style and persona. However most fonts
are still very large and bold this is to make it much easier to read at a distance. CD cases
have clearly changed throughout time and this is shown clearly in the overall design, for
example the more modern covers opt for a more bright painted appeal compared to older
standard photos. However there is one key similarity between modern and old, this is that
they often contain a picture of the artists or a picture of a person, even the Gorilaz cover
includes the persona that each band member takes up when involved in that band. This
will influence my design as I want to follow the same trend as these covers but I also want
my cover to be recognisably different from others. Tickets for concerts are often very bright
and colourful, this will be due to this increasing there value. This is because if the audience
see the ticket as impressive and visually appealing they are much more likely to show
people which in turn is advertising for the gig. They have key information like the band
name, type of ticket, date and time. Merchandise is often very simple and plain with a lot
of artists opting for a dark look that simply includes a picture of their bands logo. I would
not follow this trend as it often makes the merchandise look simple and tacky.
