This paper introduces the notion of holistic education into the context of higher education eco-systems. The study intends to conceptualize the theme and list out issues and challenges present education system faces with intent to connect with a wider set of teaching and learning paradigms to upgrade the capabilities of higher education eco-systems. Study recommends the need of combining experiential based learning (EBL). The study also recommends the changes needed to be adopted at this time in higher education viz by Simmi Vashishtha and Kamaljit Singh 2020. Higher education: issues, challenges and suggestions. Spatial Distribution Pattern of Public Lower Basic Schools for the Implementa...SalemAluu
This study examined the Spatial Distribution Pattern of Public Lower Basic Schools for the Implementation of Lower Basic Education in Rivers State. One research question guided the study. The descriptive survey design was used. The population for the study was the 942 public lower basic schools in Rivers State. Stratified random sampling technique was used to draw the sample size of 289 schools. A handheld Global Positioning System receiver was the instrument used for the study. Nearest neighbour analysis was used to answer the research question. Findings revealed that the overall pattern of distribution of existing public lower basic schools in Rivers State is clustered. Specifically the distribution of schools in Degema and Akuku-Toru Local Government Areas is dispersed with Rn of 1.72 and 1.36 respectively. The pattern of distribution of Bonny, Opobo/Nkoro, Abua/Odual, Port Harcourt, Obio/Akpor and Ikwerre indicates a clustered pattern with Rn of 0.91, 0.83 0.84, 0.74, 0.72 and 0.24 respectively. The study therefore recommended among other things that the state governments should make policies that guide school mapping and ensure their strict compliance.

The study focused on finding out the psychological disposition of university student teachers on the functional capacity of the educational system in Nigeria and its impact on national development. The research design employed was survey method. Three hypothesis were raised and tested at 0.05 alpha level of significance. The population of the study includes all the 200 level students’ teachers of Ahmadu Bello
University Zaria and Othman Danfodio University Sokoto which is made up 2,058 students. 200 participants were selected for the study using simple random sampling model. Instrument used for the study was a self - developed questionnaire. Correlational analysis was employed in analyzing the data collected.
The study revealed from all indications that there is a significant relationship between student teachers psychological disposition and functional education in Nigeria. Students’ perception positively correlated with functional education. Attitude was found to positively relate with functional education. By implication, the system demands more proactive practical approach in order to make it more functional so as to fit into the current global trend in education. The recommendation is that the functional level of Nigerian
education should be increased.

E governance in indian universities- a conceptual framework. updatedVijay Bhaskar
The insight, of university administration and systems in India, is considered the most common issue for all the stakeholders engaged in higher education. Given the economic development, accelerated by the expanding base of higher education may lead to the reduction of other kinds of disparities- social, regional, and political, and its contribution in stabilizing our civil society at this juncture of volatility cannot be underestimated which in turn may help the process of speedy national development. On the one hand universities are finding it difficult to promote administrative efficiency, and on the other hand the higher education programmes are becoming unaffordable to many students. It is evident that the situation in various higher education institutions differ, mainly because of the different rules, administrative complexities and academic culture. There are many reasons why higher education institutions like Universities are finding it difficult to bring in transparency, efficiency, economy and good governance. In this connection, introducing e-governance in university administration holds the promise for, growth and development of Universities
Community is the Answer: What is the Question?TANKO AHMED fwc
The Inclusive Community Education and Development Association (ICEADA) Conference series focus on the maxim of ‘community is the answer’. This general rule pursues community based sustainable development, particularly in developing societies where such efforts continuously fail to bring about results disconnected grassroots. A recent study (Ra-Ha, 2011) commissioned by the Kaduna State Government in Nigeria established that government services were not effective at grassroots due to absence of planned functional administrative structures at community level to absorb whatever was provided.
This Keynote Address draws attention of experts and practitioners to expand the horizon and reflect on ‘what is the question’ for ICEADA’s ‘community is the answer’. It aims at strengthening established foundations, as well as provides an umbrella for the main conference theme, sub-themes and expected major contributions. Existing ‘global-to-local’ efforts including challenges and opportunities in ICEADA’s laudable tasks are also discussed.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
