White Tailed Deer History
When the white tailed deer show up in my backyard, it s like witnessing a direct link to an age almost
forgotten. I freeze in my tracks, and I can t help but think about their unbroken chain of ancestors
going back into the ancient past. These animals were here long before any settlers arrived from
Europe. They were the hunted long before rifles replaced bows and arrows. They knew these lands
when the waters were still clean and the air was still fresh. They knew these lands when there were no
cars and no railroads. They were here before horses were brought to this continent from Europe. In
their majestic silence, the deer have witnessed footpaths become trails, trails become roads, and roads
become interstates. Their resilience is remarkable. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though the land had been Chickasaw territory since time immemorial, they did not create permanent
settlements here. Instead, they used these lands for hunting. The Chickasaw people were connected
closely with the elements and lived close to the land. Because they respected nature and took no more
than they needed, both humans and animals thrived in this region. Each year when the leaves began to
turn yellow, men came here to hunt for the meats and animal skins their people would need for winter.
The rest of the time, these lands belonged to nature. Birds made nests, foxes napped in dens, and deer
rested in tall grasses. When it was not hunting season, the animals were free to live as they had since

The Abolition Of The Brazilian Slaves Essay
The Abolition of the Brazilian Slaves
Slavery in the Americas started with Christopher Columbus at the end of his first voyage, west of the
Atlantic. When Columbus saw the Indians (as he called them) and he thought they would make great
servants to overlords in Europe. The author writes, he promised to bring Ferdinand and Isabella as
many slaves as they required (Nowara 10). This was a suitable proposition because the lifestyle of
slavery was already embedded in the minds of the Europeans during the medieval times. The
Portuguese and the Spanish were already using slaves from Africa while Columbus was discovering
the Americas and the Caribbean. During sometime between 500 A.D 1500; the Iberian Peninsula
became a gateway for slavery after Spanish and Portuguese kingdoms drove out Muslim kingdoms
and battled them in the North of Africa. Another place that was conquered by the Portuguese was
Morocco and the city of Ceuta which was a strait in the peninsula. Giving the Portuguese control and
power of trade routes of gold and slaves. This soon brought the Portuguese west and down Africa
coastline. But African slaves was already well known in parts of west and central Africa. The author
writes slavery was a well rooted institution in the African societies with which they traded (Nowara
12).
There is proof of trade routes dating before the Atlantic slave routes, coming from the Saharan and
Indian Ocean region. But the Atlantic slavery trade routes had a lot more captives

Case Study Of The Executive Management Team Of Chemco...
Question 1 A group is best defined as two or more individuals who are connected by and within social
relationships (Shaw, 1971). The executive management team of Chemco Chemicals does meet the
requirements needed to form a group as they possess the following characteristics: 1. Interdependence:
this refers to the dependence of others within the members of the group, therefore member A
influences member B, and member B influences member A and so on (Cartwright Zander, 1968). All
the above mentioned managers depend in each other to ensure the smooth running of their
departments. 2. Goals: each and every group must seek to serve a purpose of some sort. The aim to
achieve whatever they have set for themselves as their ultimate goal. In this case ... Show more

Relationships in the workplace are based on task interdependence (Forsyth, 2010). The organizational
structure or composition of the group is the bridge between the organizational level strategies planning
as well as the staffing decisions, therefore it is important for all of the departmental directors and
managers in the case study to participate and be on the same level of understanding with the entire
group. Question 4 Maude (2011) states that interaction teams need high task cohesion to be regularly
successful, while for moderate or low interaction teams cohesion is less important to success. Again,
we have social cohesion, the degree to which members of the group get on with one another, and task
cohesion, the extent to which members cooperate to achieve the group s goals. The following factors
affect cohesion: 1. Stability Cohesion in the group exists or develops when a group for the longest
period has been with the same members. 2. Similarity Cohesion develops when group members share
the same similarities in terms of age, sex, skills and attitudes. 3. Size A cohesive group is one that is
small in size 4. Support A cohesive team tend to have managers who provide support to their group
members and encourage them to support one another. 5.

Cold Little Bird Character Analysis
Cold Little Bird, a short story by Ben Marcus, is about an intelligent young boy whose parents
struggle coping with his emotional detachment. Throughout the story, the boy s father, Martin, has the
reader questioning whether or not there actually is a problem with Jonah or whether he is over
reacting. Through various scenes in the story one may conclude that it is combination of both.
A Cold Little Bird is told through the point of view of the father, Martin. Martin is portrayed as a
loving father figure who cares about the well being of all his family members. When his eldest son
shuts he and his wife out, Martin is at first perplexed. He even goes so far as to view Jonah s coldness
as a challenge (Marcus 1). The longer Martin lets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scholte further claims that a child who expresses emotional detachment also shows other signs of
delinquency such as stealing and bullying (Scholte 1). Scholte in a different article defines the state of
emotional detachment as a psychopathic syndrome (Scholte 1).
The act of touching and hugging is a big theme in Cold Little Bird. One of the first things Jonah
refuses his parents is touching or hugging him. When Martin was finally fed up with his son s
rejection and forced a hug, Jonah froze and said he did not understand why his father kept refusing to
allow him his basic request. What is alarming is how Jonah threatens to tell the school counselor that
his parents touch him when he does not want them to. As a result of the reader knowing the truth about
the touching and how the school will interpret the child s words, Martin and the reader are horrified at
the implications the youth is making. This would lead both the reader and Martin to question just how
normal the child is in fact. It might also lead one to wonder whether another adult has molested Jonah
because ten year olds are usually not aware of such issues. Levy describes the emotional detachment
and not wanting to be touched as the fault of Martin. He explains that Martin acts detached and uses
the example of the bedroom scene where Martin almost seems mechanical (Levy 1). I do not entirely
agree with this because Martin appears

Haitian Family Values
Family values are ideals that are learned traditionally in a family and are reinforced within the familial
unit. Family values can be very diverse between different cultures. Some of these family values are the
way children are raised, discipline, gender roles in the family, and the way families choose to live.
Family values are a major part of Haitian culture and they are very important to Haitians. This is my
favorite aspect of all of Haitian Culture. For all Haitian families, no matter what class they are a part
of, family life is the most important thing. Middle and upper class Haitian families usually live in
urban environments and they practice formal marriages and their family values are more similar to
modern American family values. Lower class families have a more informal way of living. Their
family environments are more extended family. In all classes, though, family always comes before
work or anything else. (Haitian Family)
From the very beginning of life, children are thought of as gifts from God. Families will do anything
and everything to make sure the children are taken care of and that their needs are met. Parents will
even sacrifice their own necessities to be sure that the children get what they need. Mothers will feed
their children and make sure they can go to school before they will eat. In Haiti, children are raised by
the whole family, which includes older siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, and even
members of the community that are not

Southern Slavery And Its Impact On American Society
During early 19th century, the entrenchment of Southern slavery, there was discussion between
planters who benefitted from it and abolitionists who fought against it. Most Americans, especially
those in Southern states, understood that slavery system could not help parting from their economic
and social system. Southern slavery system brought big economical benefits. However, it negatively
influenced American society as a whole rather that positively. Southern economy was the center of
plantation that cultivated cotton. Many the rich started to carve the plantation to earn money by
exporting cotton. They needed a lot of labor and slavery was proper to use. The majority of white
southerners did not own slaves because planters monopolized the best land. They could not help
taking possession of the land that was not proper to cultivate cotton. Most of them earned a living by
self sufficiency even though the slave population was growing: from 697,624 in 1790 to 3,953,760 in
1860.
Southern slavery was based on paternalism to justify the brutal reality of slavery, in which
slaveholding gentlemen took personal responsibility for the physical and moral well being of their
dependents women, children, and slaves. The slave owner demanded unquestioning obedience from
their dependents and intended to make them perfectly dependent to the white man. Most planters lived
on their plantation with compelling strict order. Without the owner s permission, slaves

A Work Life Balance Intervention Essay
A Work Life Balance Intervention
Introduction
Historically the concept of reinsurance has been around for thousands of years and the more modern
concept of insuring the insurance company has evolved over last couple hundred years. My company,
Reinsurance Group of America, RGA was established exclusively on this concept and recently
celebrated its 40th year anniversary. In my department almost one third of the underwriting staff will
be retirement eligible in the next five to ten years. Staffing challenges to serve the life underwriting
market are stronger than ever. To combat the alarming loss of industry expertise, we have made a
concerted effort to focus on increasing our staff through both traditional and more contemporary
means. We are bring on additional staff from the industry as well as internal training programs to grow
new underwriters. The fresh workforce is striving for a work life balance that is unknown to our
department. Although reinsurance underwriting is a reputable profession providing adequate
opportunity for career advancement and pay, the new workforce is demanding additional benefits
including job flexibility. This evolution of the workforce has confronted a mechanistic, hierarchical
department. Resistance and slow change is compounded by the original, well established management
team which has only begun to retire over the last ten years, high expenses associated with extensive
time allocation and resource investment needed to train all

Analysis Of Coming Of Age In Mississippi By Anne Moody
The book Coming of Age in Mississippi is a memoir written by Anne Moody. The book recounts her
experiences as a young black woman in the Civil Rights Movement, and gives a firsthand account of
many of the historical events during that time period, such as sit ins, protests, and civil unrest. Anne
Moody was a vocal activist and member of organizations such as the NAACP, who spoke out against
racism and segregation. Born in 1940 in rural Mississippi, Anne lives with her parents and her sister
Adline in a two room shack that does not have electricity or plumbing. The shack is on a plantation
owned by white people, the Carter family, who do have those luxuries, and Anne s parents work on the
plantation. Anne s father leaves the family after an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rice, who first told her about the NAACP and civil rights activism. Anne states that Mrs. Rice became
like a mother to her, telling her anything she wanted to know, though she warned Anne that if anyone
else found out she was talking about these things, she would be fired. At the end of the school year,
Mrs. Rice is indeed fired, but Anne does not know why, and she does not see her again. Still, Mrs.
Rice s impact on Anne was the catalyst that led Anne into the civil rights movement, as she learned
that there were things she could do to try to change the way things were. Another important woman is
Mrs. Burke, Anne s racist employer. Mrs. Burke does Anne no favors, but through working for her,
Anne s eyes are opened to the hostility of whites. Mrs. Burke accuses Anne s younger brother of
stealing from her, even though he is innocent. This event leads to Anne quitting the job and choosing
to work as a waitress instead of a maid. She wants to use her earnings to pay for college, so that she
may become educated. Finally, Anne s stepmother plays a significant role in Anne s life. After Anne
leaves her mother s home to move in with her father, she develops a bond with her stepmother, Emma,
who is kind and friendly. She shows compassion to those around her, and even when an altercation
with her brother in law results in her getting her foot shot, she doesn t blame him. Instead, she places
the blame with white society, which makes life so much harder for people like

Biblical Worldview Model
A Biblical world worldview is how a Bible believing Christian ought to see the world. The basic
components that make up a biblical world view are well to start the Bible is God breathed and
therefore has ultimate authority and is fully true. The Bible gives believers some clear cut commands
that should be used in developing ones worldview. But the Bible also gives believers to form many of
their own opinions that they can make using their personal worldview with the Bible engrained in it.
For example, the Bible clearly states that Jesus lived a sinless life. Therefore, he is the standard that
Christians should strive to imitate (with a lot of God s grace). The Bible also clearly says that there is
only one true God. So a believer should not

Crime Scene Degradation
The degradation of a crime scene will happen, to a degree, as soon as the responding patrol officer
enters the primary crime scene. Since the first responding officer had to check the victim for wounds
and rule out medical attention, possible trace evidence on the floor could be compromised or lost.
Next, the first responder had to secure the scene ensuring the suspect was no longer in the apartment at
which time the officer s fingerprints, hair, and DNA could now be contaminating the crime scene.
Moreover, the paramedics have touched the body and possibly moved her from her original state
rendering it impossible to know the exact pose of the body. Also, the numerous uniformed police

Differences Between Estabrook And Mcdougle
Although Estabrook and McDougle concluded their fieldwork by July 1925, in time to publish their
findings, Davenport expressed serious concerns over the characterizations of the community contained
in the study. These and other internal issues relating to salary and expense disputes between Estabrook
and the ERO threw the study s publication into doubt. During this time, Estabrook also began other
research and his employment with the ERO ended. Eventually the study was published in 1926 as
Mongrel Virginians: The WIN Tribe. By this time the publicity for the book had largely fallen to
McDougle who took primary responsibility for dispensing copies to the Anglo Saxon Clubs and other
interested parties. Mongrel Virginians confirmed many of the primary theories advanced by the Anglo
Saxon Clubs regarding the immorality and mental deficiency that they believed resulted from racial
mixing. In discussing the public perception of the group s racial mixture Estabrook and McDougle
offered the following: They are described variously as low down yellow negroes as Indians, as mixed,
No one however speaks of them as white. Writing about the consanguinity practiced within the group,
Estabrook and McDougle attributed it to social barriers established between the WIN and whites and
blacks residing outside of Ab county. Having hoped that the study would provide him new
ammunition in his racial integrity fight against the state s Indians, Plecker was

Canadian Tire Case Essay
Michael Eubanks of Canadian Tire Corporation (CTC) is in charge of the implementation of a
business intelligence (BI) system for the company. This implementation began in 2003 and was to be
completed in 2005. In 2006, the project is only in the 2nd of 3 phases. He is now faced with a
problem. The implementation is going much slower than he anticipated. His goal is to implement BI
as soon as possible, so what does he need to do so that he can reach this goal?
In order to reach his goal, there are many issues that need to be addressed. The first issue is that in
order to ensure that the data in the data warehouse is correct, there needs to be strong data governance
by all users. The 2nd concern is that users of the current systems will not ... Show more content on

He would anticipate any issues that could arise in along the process. He will then assign business
partners and specific resolutions to each potential issue so that if one of these problems occurs, there is
already a plan in place to resolve it. This is a more proactive approach to the BI implementation. The
only drawback here would be that there would need to be business partners available to tackle these
problems. They would need to be taken away from their day to day responsibilities without any notice.
This could result in business interruption, if a backup is not assigned.
Another option is to decide which type of Master Data Management (MDM) initiative to use. They
can use the Analytical MDM, Operational MDM or Enterprise MDM. The Analytical option addresses
BI only. The Operational option addresses the business operations. Enterprise addresses both. The
Analytical option is the least intrusive and most straight forward to implement, whereas the Enterprise
option is very complex and time consuming.
I would recommend that CTC use the third option which is to decide on a type of MDM initiative to
use. Specifically, I would recommend the Analytical MDM approach. It seems to me that the main
focus of the implementation is Business Intelligence; as such the Analytical approach is the most
appropriate. It is the most commonly adopted approach and the most simple of the three. Since their
goal is to implement BI as soon as possible, they should use the

The Pros And Cons Of Foreign Aid
To Aid or Not to Aid
Foreign aid has played an enormous role in the United States government policy, especially since the
mid twentieth century, following World War II. At that time, the U.S. began providing financial aid,
through the Marshall Plan, to help rebuild Europe (Williams, 2015). Today, foreign aid has evolved to
mean a variety of things. Foreign aid is not strictly financial assistance. According to Williams in the
Encyclopedia Britannica (2015), foreign assistance can include military assistance or equipment,
medical assistance or equipment, or technical assistance and training. However, the most common
foreign aid is official development assistance, which is organized through international organizations
such as the World Bank, International Monetary Fund or UNICEF and used to address poverty and
promote development (Williams 2015). Many people feel in the United States feel that it is necessary
to provide foreign assistance to the world. It is thought that helping less developed economies
improves the market for everyone. Others feel that many people are in need here in the United States
and that it does not make sense to send aid to other countries when people need right in their own city,
state, or country. Most people think that a large portion of the U.S. budget is devoted to foreign aid. In
contrast, according to Rutsch (2015), the U.S. spends less than 1 percent of the federal budget on
foreign aid . With the state of the world today,

How Enzymes Affect Our Body
Enzymes are biologically active proteins that serve as catalysts; they have the ability to speed up
chemical reactions. Without a catalyst many biochemical reactions will be carried out too slowly for
the body to benefit. All sorts of enzymes occur naturally in our bodies, some help digest food. An
enzyme such as amylase is present in saliva which breaks down starch into smaller maltose molecules.
Without an enzyme holding the large molecule in position, this reaction will be extremely slow. Every
reaction requires certain amount of energy to form. Enzymes lower the activation energy (amount
energy required to be put into the reaction to begin). It does this by applying pressure to bonds that
require s the molecule to break, or bring the molecules closer to bond. The molecules or chemicals the
enzymes work on are called substrates, substrates then bind to the enzyme active site, once they bond
to the active site, the enzyme will change shape to fit the substrate, and this is known as the induced fit
model. All enzymes are specific to particular molecules or chemicals and are usually named after their
substrate ase . For example lactase is an enzyme that breaks down lactose.
Allosteric enzymes differ from non allosteric enzymes. Allosteric enzymes at least have more than one
binding site, where as regular enzymes have one or more site that they can bind to. Unlike allosteric
enzymes, if a non allosteric enzyme binds to an enzymes active site this does not increase or

Anne Sexton Old
In the poem Old by Anne Sexton, the narrator is presumably in a hospital setting as she says she is
afraid of needles and tired of rubber sheets , tubes , and faces that I don t know . This choice of setting
is most likely a result of Sexton s own stays in mental hospitals because of her depression and
addiction troubles. After the setting is established the narrator says that she thinks death is starting and
that is starts like a dream . Dreams are seen as a positive thing where people experience their inner
most desires. By equating death to a dream, Sexton is saying that she sees death as a place of peace
and solace from unhappiness. The suicidal tendencies expressed in the poem as well as the narrative
voice remind me of conversations

Comparing The Man He Killed And The White City
Claude McKay and Thomas Hardy both clarify in their stories a feeling of choosing what they are
doing with their life and the circumstance that they are in. In The Man He Killed the storyteller is
befuddled and in dismay of what he has done and why he must be in a circumstance of executing
another man in any case as he said he could have most likely of been great companions with the other
person if things were distinctive, perhaps. In The White City the storyteller has a filled contempt for
the white world and being placed in a position where he supposes the main reason he is not a skeleton
is because of his dull filled energy of his and that he will continue pushing forward. In The Man He
Killed and The White City the fundamental ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The storyteller is in a situation where African Americans are thought to a lower standard than the
whites of America as there is the white world s damnation when the African Americans at last got
approach rights like the Whites. In spite of the fact that African Americans now have parallel rights,
they are still given indications of dangers by the whites who don t need break even with rights, yet the
storyteller expresses that he would not twist an inch of be toyed with as he will continue pushing
ahead, I won t towy with nor twist an inch (McKay Line 1). His intention not at all like in The Man
He Killed is extremely sure all through the entire ballad, as his primary rationale is his scorn of being
looked downward on and that regardless of what number of deterrents he gets from the whites and he
will continue pushing ahead regardless. On the off chance that it were not for his searched out disdain
and his dim interests than he would be just a skeleton twisting under the will of isolation, My being
would be a skeleton, a shell, if this dim Passion that fills my each state of mind, and makes my

Americans have rise to rights which so happens to be the inverse of a white man s damnation as his
paradise lives in their hellfire. Surrounding he looks, as much as he adores the city that he is in, he
really want to notice that there is a white fog implying that white individuals have had an impact on
everything around him, I see the might city through a fog (McKay Line 11). This demonstrates the
storyteller that in spite of the fact that he is attempting to push ahead he is still in a position where he

Software Engineering And Intelligent Systems Essay
INTRODUCTION
Throughout the year I have learnt about many issues in software engineering and intelligent systems
by researching for this report. In this report I will be explaining and discussing these key problems and
some key techniques that can be implemented to overcome these for both software engineering and
intelligent systems.
SOFTWARE ENGINEERING
Software Engineering is the discipline of designing and developing software projects so that they
behave in an efficient and independent manner while meeting the requirement of the client. Some key
problems which arise in software engineering are complexity, inefficient communication and
inadequate testing. Software projects are large and take years to make. In order to reduce the risk of
failure and keep track of problems, software projects must follow the correct methodology.
A methodology is a set of instructions followed in order to develop projects efficiently. In software
engineering, a methodology is a discipline which structures a project strongly so that it will succeed.
Without a strong structure, the project will start to break down and create big problems for software
engineers.
KEY PROBLEMS COMPLEXITY
Software projects are complex and can crash with the slightest errors. Software Engineering projects
take a lot of time and can sometimes take years to code. Some projects are made with over a thousand
lines of code, due to this, the chance of error increases. For example, in 1998, a crew member of the

The Tale of Genji Essay
World History
The Tale of Genji
The Tale of Genji, not only had a huge impact on Japanese literature, it is considered to be the first
novel ever written in the world. Japanese literature was limited to poetry, fairytales, and memoirs until
the birth of this remarkable work. The tale revolves around prince Genji s life and his love adventures
in an important period in Japanese history. Its complicated plot focuses on the significance of the
Heian period and portrays in detail the life of the upper society in the Heian court. A court lady named
Muraski Shikibu who had first hand experience of Heian society and Japanese aristocracy having
served the empress wrote this literary work. She managed to pull the reader deep in to her world of ...

The only access to nature that they encountered was in the garden within the palace. Therefore the

woman and her servants were assigned to a separate pavilion and they would eat, sleep, and socialize

other pavilions. It is evident in many scenes of the novel that their world was limited. Males were able
to move more freely through this opportunity to catch glimpsed of women they were otherwise not

Eusebius History Of The Church Summary
Eusebius explains that he feels he must add a tenth book to his History of the Church, dedicating them
to one Paulinus, so as to chow god s gret deliverance he has bestwoed on the Christians. Furthermore
with the addition of this sectio the work becomes a perfect number (10:1). The churches which had
only shortly previously endured the intense persecution of the empure now enjoyed the great favor of
this same empire (10:2). Eusebius provides a translation of the decree by Constantinus and Licentius
granting religious freedom. In this decree they reason that whatever spirtual forces exist, they would
be well served if they were on their own side. They will therefore allow people of any faith to freely
worship in the hopes that one of these sects will grant divine blessing to the empire. Furthermore any
places which had been taken from the Christians are to be immiediatly restored, those resotring them

Similarly in a letter to Anulinus he dictates that clergymen are not to be forced to perform publuc
services. This is because he sees the welfare of the realm as being connected to their ability to serve
God, and so would not hinder this (10:7). However, Licinius was not as pleased with this situation as
he ought to have been. Eusebius writes that Licinius, consumed with envy for Constantine, began to
plot against him. However, all of his plots were foiled by the divine protection Constantine enjoyed. As
such, he next turned to violence and began to persecute the Christians in his realm (10:8). Eusebius
records that Constantine, seeing this, had no choice but to go to war with Licinius. Constantine,
enjoying the favor of God as he did, was easily victorious. Thus Constantine united the empire, and
brought peace and joy to all his subjects

The Importance Of Pulse Pressure
1. Define pulse pressure? How did it change with light and heavy exercise to PP? What is the expected
PP response to exercise? 2 marks
 Pulse pressure is the difference between the systolic and diastolic pressure reading. It represents the
force that the heart generates each time it contracts. During exercise periods, the pulse pressure will
increase because the stroke volume, or the amount of ventricular blood pumped with a given
contraction increases to fuel muscular contractions. This increase in stroke volume will cause an
increase in systolic pressure, while the diastolic pressure will remain relatively constant, increasing the
value of pulse pressure. Based on needs for muscular activity, the stroke volume will adjust
accordingly, so lighter exercise will have a smaller increase in ventricular contraction and heavier
exercise will have a greater increase in ventricular contraction. This will result in a smaller increase in
systolic pressure for light activity and greater increase in systolic pressure for heavy activity. It is
expected this to happen because with an increasing demand for oxygenated blood from muscles
engaging in sarcomeric contraction, the heart will contract with greater force (systolic pressure) in
order to maximize stroke volume, ensuring that sufficient oxygen/nutrients is given to working
muscles.
2. Describe the mean arterial blood pressure response to light and

Short Story Of Seashell Bay
Me and Clog roamed the streets for days, searching for scraps of food and a dry place to sleep.
Eventually, we stumbled into a soup kitchen. From there, a warden took us to the police station, and a
few days later, they found my next of kin Harry Jewel. I d never met him before and Mummy never
spoke of him.
The Sprigs settled on her lap but she was miles away with her thoughts.
Each night, I slept on the floor in the police cell. Then one morning, they wrote my name on a label
and tied it to my dress. Clementine Beaumont, Seashell Bay. After that, a lady took me to the train
station. However, I d never been on a steam train before and it was orrible and smoky, although I do
remember the cows in the fields. You don t get them in the city. And other than me, there were about a
hundred other kids, all packed in the carriages like bully beef.
How long did you stay on the train? asked Misty.
Around seven hours. They said the journey would have been shorter if the engine hadn t broken down.
When I arrived at Seashell Bay, a man on the platform came out of his hut and offered to carry my
luggage. But I didn t have none.
Didn t have any, Misty corrected with a smile.
That s what I said. Didn t have none. The man told me to wait on the bench and then he rushed off to

The Importance Of Pride In Fences By Agust Wilson
In history, a lot of great man have fallen do to pride and selfishness, In the bible it says Lucifer clearly
turned out to be so awed with his own particular excellence, knowledge, power, and position that he
started to want for himself the respect and transcendence that had a place with God alone. The
transgression that ruined Lucifer was self created pride. I used that lesson from the bible to say that
pride can lead to major life consequences. In fences by Agust Wilson we see a perfect example of that
when it comes to the main character, Troy is shown as a man who has hurt the people who are closest
to him without even realizing it. He has acted in an unsensitive and heartless way towards his
significant other, Rose, his brother, Gabriel and his children, Cory and Lyons. Toward the start of the
story, Troy feels he has made them proud. He feels this all through the story. He doesn t understand
the amount he has harmed them. In the first scene of the play his oldest son Lyons come to ask him for
10 dollars and answers no saying You ain t gonna find me going and asking nobody for nothing. I
done spent too many years without (Troy). Troy s biggest strength and weakness is that he always
looks out for his best interest and doesn t see anyone else s interest as important as his own.

Analysis Of The Joy Of Secrecy
I
The Joy of Secrecy
Dear reader, I ask you to accompany me on a journey through the mind of a great creator. Not the
Great Creator, mind you, but only one, and that one is myself. Many would consider me to be a rash
man, one of immense skill but little actual talent, one who believes more intensely than rational
thought may permit. And in that sense, they consider me to be a dreamer. But what a perfect
profession I have found! It is the most acceptable profession for a dreamer to have, in my honest
opinion, for what other type of work allows one to make his dreams a reality? Truly, animation is the
one true profession for dreamers, the most accepting line of work for such strong and skilled
personalities. I, myself, find that life is merely a composition of brush strokes and feathered lines
sketched by a hand careless in its execution. A hand that may erect and raze as it wishes, or, in such
cases as my own, as it is commanded by an even higher power than that which wills life from vacuous
space.
Among my company my associates, if you will, or if you will not, my coworkers I alone dare to dream
of the unreality of life, dare to reject the hand that abides by no mortal law or rule of happiness. My
lines do more than animate ink and paper in a sort of strange necromancy. From my own hand I
bestow life upon flat bodies, make them twist and turn and sing the body electric . I am a special sort
of man, a unique form of animator, one who dreams more than most, often more than

Site Agent Syndrome
As we learned the Secret Service , and other agencies, assigns an experienced agent to oversee the
advance for every site the president visits during a trip. That site agent is often a senior member of the
detail, or at least trusted by his or her colleagues to supervise the complex process of managing even a
short visit from the most powerful man in the world. Site agents handle everything. They are
responsible for everything. Details matter. If the Secret Service suffers from complacency, or if agents
are not properly trained, the sites will fall apart. Errors, large and small, will cascade. Yet here are
some news making moments and blunders from the past five years: In November 2009 reality TV
stars Tareq and Michaele Salahi became known as the White House party crashers when they attended
a White House state dinner without an invitation. The Secret Service let the couple into the White

dangerous person was allowed to be in such close proximity to the president for so long. The Secret

Taking Sides Clashing Views in Management
Introduction
Taking Sides Clashing Views in Management written by Marc and Vera Street diverse into some deep,
debatable topics. Upon reading each issue, it is clear that there is no right or wrong answer. Several
times I found myself torn on both sides; this is I was both for and against certain issues. I have always
tried to make decisions as informed as possible but realized that judgments are still personal and what
we believe in.
Issues
Issue 1: I do believe that corporations have a responsibility to society as a whole, not only to
maximize their own profits and benefit the economy but also to respect the community that they reside
in. They achieve this by not only providing employment, but also upholding an image. It is up to ...

corporations to use cheap overseas labor my first thoughts were yes because of my personal beliefs.
But upon further thought and through discovery, I realized that from a business point of view we as a
nation should still help promote economic globalization. In order to do so we need to outsource
production and encourage trade. However, because we are fiscally involved in another country s
economy that doesn t give American corporations the right to implement our laws and standards into
other countries business practices and laws. Just because we see child labor, unfair wages, and
violating overtime as immoral, doesn t mean that the host county does. However global labor
standards need to be unified.
Issue 3: Siding with Ira Kay, I agree with his position on the issue. The American Dream is to
essentially start from nothing, working up the ladder to gain money, power, and the image of a lavish,
executive lifestyle; resulting from hard work paying off and wages that compensate for it. Annual pay
and stock incentives for most executives will fluctuate with the company s performance, as well as
their personal efforts. If a cap was to be implemented on a CEO s salary, what would be the incentive
to stay at the helm of a corporation when the financial glass ceiling has been reached?
Issue 4: Does an employer s need to monitor workers trump employee privacy concerns? This is one
of these controversial issues where I agree with points from both sides.

What Are The Positive Impact Of Affordable Housing
The Positive Impacts of Affordable Housing in a Community According to The Economic Times,
affordable housing is defined as housing units that are occupied by a person whose income is below
the median of household income. The purpose of researching this topic is to inform readers of the
positive outcomes which stem from affordable housing in communities and also to give examples of
the life changing impacts affordable housing has on families. Through analysis and observation, a
person may become more aware of what is going on in their neighborhood. A community should
consider affordable housing for positive outcomes such as education, good health increases, and
economic growth.
A person may ask, how does Affordable Housing affect health? The answer could be that they are
directly tied together. In fact affordable housing can reduce exposure to disease, which lead to a
decrease in physical and mental health issues. Some people may argue that affordable housing has
nothing to do with health. Health has a fair amount to do with affordable housing. It is common

A twenty one year old woman by the name of Anna O that was caring for her ailing father began to
experience severe debilitating physical and psychological symptoms. During this period, most
psychoses were labeled as hysteria. Anna O began to hallucinate, experience paralysis, and have an
extreme aversion to food and drink. She underwent treatment with Dr. Breuer (Oxford Journals,

discovered that as she began to talk of hidden thought processes about her experiences during their
discussions, whether through hypnosis or while conscious, certain symptoms would disappear (Oxford

this talking cure. Also known as sweeping the chimney or sweeping the mind. Sigmund Freud s theory
of the unconscious mind claimed that people experience hysteria or other reactions in response to
repressed experiences. The unconscious contains all those drives, urges, or instincts that are beyond
our awareness but that nevertheless motivate most of our words, feelings, and actions (Feist Feist,

Freud is considered the founding father of psychoanalysis. In treating Anna O, Freud would examine

Aquinas 3rd Way
Aquinas third way argument states that there has to be something that must exist, which is most likely
God. He starts his argument by saying not everything must exist, because things are born and die
every single day. By stating this we can jump to the conclusion that if everything need not exist then
there would have been a time where there was nothing. But, he goes on, if there was a time when there
was nothing, then nothing would exist even today, because something cannot come from nothing.
However, our observations tell us that something does exist, therefore there is something that must
exist, and Aquinas says that something is God.
Aquinas argument has a couple of flaws in it. One is pointed out by ... Show more content on

The series also can not have a cause from within because no one being within the series is necessary.
An example of this would be the set of real numbers we use today. Taking one number away from the
set would not cause the set to cease in existence. There is no beginning to the number set and no end
as well. If we view the Universe with the same concept then Aquinas theory can be seen to have a
major flaw.
There is, however, a way to fix Aquinas theory. If we take his logic into account we can say that there
was a time when the universe did not exist. But, the universe exists now therefore it must have had a
beginning. By definition a necessary being has no beginning and now end. Due to this definition we
can say that the universe is not a necessary being. This leaves us with one of three options: there is a
necessary being, the universe has always existed, or something can come into existence out of
nothing. Due to the big bang theory we can eliminate the theory of the universe always existing.
Therefore, there is a necessary being or something can come into existence out of nothing. Because
we know that something cannot come into existence out of nothing we determine that there must be a
necessary being. However, the necessary being is either God or the universe. Because the universe had
a beginning it can not be necessary, therefore God is the necessary being and he must exist.
The revised version of Aquinas theory seems to work

  • 2. White Tailed Deer History When the white tailed deer show up in my backyard, it s like witnessing a direct link to an age almost forgotten. I freeze in my tracks, and I can t help but think about their unbroken chain of ancestors going back into the ancient past. These animals were here long before any settlers arrived from Europe. They were the hunted long before rifles replaced bows and arrows. They knew these lands when the waters were still clean and the air was still fresh. They knew these lands when there were no cars and no railroads. They were here before horses were brought to this continent from Europe. In their majestic silence, the deer have witnessed footpaths become trails, trails become roads, and roads become interstates. Their resilience is remarkable. ... Instead, they used these lands for hunting. The Chickasaw people were connected closely with the elements and lived close to the land. Because they respected nature and took no more than they needed, both humans and animals thrived in this region. Each year when the leaves began to turn yellow, men came here to hunt for the meats and animal skins their people would need for winter. The rest of the time, these lands belonged to nature. Birds made nests, foxes napped in dens, and deer rested in tall grasses. When it was not hunting season, the animals were free to live as they had since the dawn of ... • 3. The Abolition Of The Brazilian Slaves Essay The Abolition of the Brazilian Slaves Slavery in the Americas started with Christopher Columbus at the end of his first voyage, west of the Atlantic. When Columbus saw the Indians (as he called them) and he thought they would make great servants to overlords in Europe. The author writes, he promised to bring Ferdinand and Isabella as many slaves as they required (Nowara 10). This was a suitable proposition because the lifestyle of slavery was already embedded in the minds of the Europeans during the medieval times. The Portuguese and the Spanish were already using slaves from Africa while Columbus was discovering the Americas and the Caribbean. During sometime between 500 A.D 1500; the Iberian Peninsula became a gateway for slavery after Spanish and Portuguese kingdoms drove out Muslim kingdoms and battled them in the North of Africa. Another place that was conquered by the Portuguese was Morocco and the city of Ceuta which was a strait in the peninsula. Giving the Portuguese control and power of trade routes of gold and slaves. This soon brought the Portuguese west and down Africa coastline. But African slaves was already well known in parts of west and central Africa. The author writes slavery was a well rooted institution in the African societies with which they traded (Nowara 12). There is proof of trade routes dating before the Atlantic slave routes, coming from the Saharan and Indian Ocean region. But the Atlantic slavery trade routes had a lot more captives ... The executive management team of Chemco Chemicals does meet the requirements needed to form a group as they possess the following characteristics: 1. Interdependence: this refers to the dependence of others within the members of the group, therefore member A influences member B, and member B influences member A and so on (Cartwright Zander, 1968). All the above mentioned managers depend in each other to ensure the smooth running of their departments. 2. Goals: each and every group must seek to serve a purpose of some sort. Relationships in the workplace are based on task interdependence (Forsyth, 2010). The organizational structure or composition of the group is the bridge between the organizational level strategies planning as well as the staffing decisions, therefore it is important for all of the departmental directors and managers in the case study to participate and be on the same level of understanding with the entire group. Question 4 Maude (2011) states that interaction teams need high task cohesion to be regularly successful, while for moderate or low interaction teams cohesion is less important to success. Again, we have social cohesion, the degree to which members of the group get on with one another, and task cohesion, the extent to which members cooperate to achieve the group s goals. The following factors affect cohesion: 1. Stability Cohesion in the group exists or develops when a group for the longest period has been with the same members. 2. Similarity Cohesion develops when group members share the same similarities in terms of age, sex, skills and attitudes. 3. Size A cohesive group is one that is small in size 4. • 5. Cold Little Bird Character Analysis Cold Little Bird, a short story by Ben Marcus, is about an intelligent young boy whose parents struggle coping with his emotional detachment. Throughout the story, the boy s father, Martin, has the reader questioning whether or not there actually is a problem with Jonah or whether he is over reacting. Through various scenes in the story one may conclude that it is combination of both. A Cold Little Bird is told through the point of view of the father, Martin. Martin is portrayed as a loving father figure who cares about the well being of all his family members. When his eldest son shuts he and his wife out, Martin is at first perplexed. He even goes so far as to view Jonah s coldness as a challenge (Marcus 1). The longer Martin lets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scholte further claims that a child who expresses emotional detachment also shows other signs of delinquency such as stealing and bullying (Scholte 1). Scholte in a different article defines the state of emotional detachment as a psychopathic syndrome (Scholte 1). The act of touching and hugging is a big theme in Cold Little Bird. One of the first things Jonah refuses his parents is touching or hugging him. When Martin was finally fed up with his son s rejection and forced a hug, Jonah froze and said he did not understand why his father kept refusing to allow him his basic request. What is alarming is how Jonah threatens to tell the school counselor that his parents touch him when he does not want them to. As a result of the reader knowing the truth about the touching and how the school will interpret the child s words, Martin and the reader are horrified at the implications the youth is making. This would lead both the reader and Martin to question just how normal the child is in fact. It might also lead one to wonder whether another adult has molested Jonah because ten year olds are usually not aware of such issues. Levy describes the emotional detachment and not wanting to be touched as the fault of Martin. He explains that Martin acts detached and uses the example of the bedroom scene where Martin almost seems mechanical (Levy 1). I do not entirely agree with this because Martin appears ... • 6. Haitian Family Values Family values are ideals that are learned traditionally in a family and are reinforced within the familial unit. Family values can be very diverse between different cultures. Some of these family values are the way children are raised, discipline, gender roles in the family, and the way families choose to live. Family values are a major part of Haitian culture and they are very important to Haitians. This is my favorite aspect of all of Haitian Culture. For all Haitian families, no matter what class they are a part of, family life is the most important thing. Middle and upper class Haitian families usually live in urban environments and they practice formal marriages and their family values are more similar to modern American family values. Lower class families have a more informal way of living. Their family environments are more extended family. In all classes, though, family always comes before work or anything else. (Haitian Family) From the very beginning of life, children are thought of as gifts from God. Families will do anything and everything to make sure the children are taken care of and that their needs are met. Parents will even sacrifice their own necessities to be sure that the children get what they need. Mothers will feed their children and make sure they can go to school before they will eat. • 7. Southern Slavery And Its Impact On American Society During early 19th century, the entrenchment of Southern slavery, there was discussion between planters who benefitted from it and abolitionists who fought against it. Most Americans, especially those in Southern states, understood that slavery system could not help parting from their economic and social system. Southern slavery system brought big economical benefits. However, it negatively influenced American society as a whole rather that positively. Southern economy was the center of plantation that cultivated cotton. Many the rich started to carve the plantation to earn money by exporting cotton. They needed a lot of labor and slavery was proper to use. The majority of white southerners did not own slaves because planters monopolized the best land. They could not help taking possession of the land that was not proper to cultivate cotton. Most of them earned a living by self sufficiency even though the slave population was growing: from 697,624 in 1790 to 3,953,760 in 1860. Southern slavery was based on paternalism to justify the brutal reality of slavery, in which slaveholding gentlemen took personal responsibility for the physical and moral well being of their dependents women, children, and slaves. The slave owner demanded unquestioning obedience from their dependents and intended to make them perfectly dependent to the white man. Most planters lived on their plantation with compelling strict order. Without the owner s permission, slaves ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My company, Reinsurance Group of America, RGA was established exclusively on this concept and recently celebrated its 40th year anniversary. In my department almost one third of the underwriting staff will be retirement eligible in the next five to ten years. Staffing challenges to serve the life underwriting market are stronger than ever. To combat the alarming loss of industry expertise, we have made a concerted effort to focus on increasing our staff through both traditional and more contemporary means. We are bring on additional staff from the industry as well as internal training programs to grow new underwriters. The fresh workforce is striving for a work life balance that is unknown to our department. Although reinsurance underwriting is a reputable profession providing adequate opportunity for career advancement and pay, the new workforce is demanding additional benefits including job flexibility. This evolution of the workforce has confronted a mechanistic, hierarchical department. The book recounts her experiences as a young black woman in the Civil Rights Movement, and gives a firsthand account of many of the historical events during that time period, such as sit ins, protests, and civil unrest. Anne Moody was a vocal activist and member of organizations such as the NAACP, who spoke out against racism and segregation. Born in 1940 in rural Mississippi, Anne lives with her parents and her sister Adline in a two room shack that does not have electricity or plumbing. The shack is on a plantation owned by white people, the Carter family, who do have those luxuries, and Anne s parents work on the plantation. Anne s father leaves the family after an ... Anne states that Mrs. Rice became like a mother to her, telling her anything she wanted to know, though she warned Anne that if anyone else found out she was talking about these things, she would be fired. At the end of the school year, Mrs. Rice is indeed fired, but Anne does not know why, and she does not see her again. Still, Mrs. Rice s impact on Anne was the catalyst that led Anne into the civil rights movement, as she learned that there were things she could do to try to change the way things were. Another important woman is Mrs. Burke, Anne s racist employer. Mrs. Burke does Anne no favors, but through working for her, Anne s eyes are opened to the hostility of whites. Mrs. Burke accuses Anne s younger brother of stealing from her, even though he is innocent. This event leads to Anne quitting the job and choosing to work as a waitress instead of a maid. She wants to use her earnings to pay for college, so that she may become educated. Finally, Anne s stepmother plays a significant role in Anne s life. After Anne leaves her mother s home to move in with her father, she develops a bond with her stepmother, Emma, who is kind and friendly. Since the first responding officer had to check the victim for wounds and rule out medical attention, possible trace evidence on the floor could be compromised or lost. • 13. Differences Between Estabrook And Mcdougle Although Estabrook and McDougle concluded their fieldwork by July 1925, in time to publish their findings, Davenport expressed serious concerns over the characterizations of the community contained in the study. These and other internal issues relating to salary and expense disputes between Estabrook and the ERO threw the study s publication into doubt. During this time, Estabrook also began other research and his employment with the ERO ended. Eventually the study was published in 1926 as Mongrel Virginians: The WIN Tribe. By this time the publicity for the book had largely fallen to McDougle who took primary responsibility for dispensing copies to the Anglo Saxon Clubs and other interested parties. Mongrel Virginians confirmed many of the primary theories advanced by the Anglo Saxon Clubs regarding the immorality and mental deficiency that they believed resulted from racial mixing. In discussing the public perception of the group s racial mixture Estabrook and McDougle offered the following: They are described variously as low down yellow negroes as Indians, as mixed, No one however speaks of them as white. Writing about the consanguinity practiced within the group, Estabrook and McDougle attributed it to social barriers established between the WIN and whites and blacks residing outside of Ab county. This implementation began in 2003 and was to be completed in 2005. In 2006, the project is only in the 2nd of 3 phases. He is now faced with a problem. The implementation is going much slower than he anticipated. His goal is to implement BI as soon as possible, so what does he need to do so that he can reach this goal? In order to reach his goal, there are many issues that need to be addressed. He will then assign business partners and specific resolutions to each potential issue so that if one of these problems occurs, there is already a plan in place to resolve it. This is a more proactive approach to the BI implementation. The only drawback here would be that there would need to be business partners available to tackle these problems. They would need to be taken away from their day to day responsibilities without any notice. This could result in business interruption, if a backup is not assigned. Another option is to decide which type of Master Data Management (MDM) initiative to use. They can use the Analytical MDM, Operational MDM or Enterprise MDM. The Analytical option addresses BI only. The Operational option addresses the business operations. Enterprise addresses both. The Analytical option is the least intrusive and most straight forward to implement, whereas the Enterprise option is very complex and time consuming. I would recommend that CTC use the third option which is to decide on a type of MDM initiative to use. Specifically, I would recommend the Analytical MDM approach. It seems to me that the main focus of the implementation is Business Intelligence; as such the Analytical approach is the most appropriate. It is the most commonly adopted approach and the most simple of the three. Since their goal is to implement BI as soon as possible, they should use the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Pros And Cons Of Foreign Aid To Aid or Not to Aid Foreign aid has played an enormous role in the United States government policy, especially since the mid twentieth century, following World War II. At that time, the U.S. began providing financial aid, through the Marshall Plan, to help rebuild Europe (Williams, 2015). Today, foreign aid has evolved to mean a variety of things. Foreign aid is not strictly financial assistance. According to Williams in the Encyclopedia Britannica (2015), foreign assistance can include military assistance or equipment, medical assistance or equipment, or technical assistance and training. However, the most common foreign aid is official development assistance, which is organized through international organizations such as the World Bank, International Monetary Fund or UNICEF and used to address poverty and promote development (Williams 2015). Many people feel in the United States feel that it is necessary to provide foreign assistance to the world. It is thought that helping less developed economies improves the market for everyone. Others feel that many people are in need here in the United States and that it does not make sense to send aid to other countries when people need right in their own city, state, or country. • 22. How Enzymes Affect Our Body Enzymes are biologically active proteins that serve as catalysts; they have the ability to speed up chemical reactions. Without a catalyst many biochemical reactions will be carried out too slowly for the body to benefit. All sorts of enzymes occur naturally in our bodies, some help digest food. An enzyme such as amylase is present in saliva which breaks down starch into smaller maltose molecules. Without an enzyme holding the large molecule in position, this reaction will be extremely slow. Every reaction requires certain amount of energy to form. Enzymes lower the activation energy (amount energy required to be put into the reaction to begin). It does this by applying pressure to bonds that require s the molecule to break, or bring the molecules closer to bond. The molecules or chemicals the enzymes work on are called substrates, substrates then bind to the enzyme active site, once they bond to the active site, the enzyme will change shape to fit the substrate, and this is known as the induced fit model. All enzymes are specific to particular molecules or chemicals and are usually named after their substrate ase . For example lactase is an enzyme that breaks down lactose. Allosteric enzymes differ from non allosteric enzymes. Allosteric enzymes at least have more than one binding site, where as regular enzymes have one or more site that they can bind to. Unlike allosteric enzymes, if a non allosteric enzyme binds to an enzymes active site this does not increase or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Software Engineering And Intelligent Systems Essay INTRODUCTION Throughout the year I have learnt about many issues in software engineering and intelligent systems by researching for this report. In this report I will be explaining and discussing these key problems and some key techniques that can be implemented to overcome these for both software engineering and intelligent systems. SOFTWARE ENGINEERING Software Engineering is the discipline of designing and developing software projects so that they behave in an efficient and independent manner while meeting the requirement of the client. Some key problems which arise in software engineering are complexity, inefficient communication and inadequate testing. Software projects are large and take years to make. In order to reduce the risk of failure and keep track of problems, software projects must follow the correct methodology. A methodology is a set of instructions followed in order to develop projects efficiently. In software engineering, a methodology is a discipline which structures a project strongly so that it will succeed. Without a strong structure, the project will start to break down and create big problems for software engineers. KEY PROBLEMS COMPLEXITY Software projects are complex and can crash with the slightest errors. Software Engineering projects take a lot of time and can sometimes take years to code. Some projects are made with over a thousand lines of code, due to this, the chance of error increases. For example, in 1998, a crew member of the USS ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. The Importance Of Pulse Pressure 1. Define pulse pressure? How did it change with light and heavy exercise to PP? What is the expected PP response to exercise? 2 marks  Pulse pressure is the difference between the systolic and diastolic pressure reading. It represents the force that the heart generates each time it contracts. During exercise periods, the pulse pressure will increase because the stroke volume, or the amount of ventricular blood pumped with a given contraction increases to fuel muscular contractions. This increase in stroke volume will cause an increase in systolic pressure, while the diastolic pressure will remain relatively constant, increasing the value of pulse pressure. Based on needs for muscular activity, the stroke volume will adjust accordingly, so lighter exercise will have a smaller increase in ventricular contraction and heavier exercise will have a greater increase in ventricular contraction. This will result in a smaller increase in systolic pressure for light activity and greater increase in systolic pressure for heavy activity. It is expected this to happen because with an increasing demand for oxygenated blood from muscles engaging in sarcomeric contraction, the heart will contract with greater force (systolic pressure) in order to maximize stroke volume, ensuring that sufficient oxygen/nutrients is given to working muscles. 2. Not the Great Creator, mind you, but only one, and that one is myself. Many would consider me to be a rash man, one of immense skill but little actual talent, one who believes more intensely than rational thought may permit. And in that sense, they consider me to be a dreamer. But what a perfect profession I have found! It is the most acceptable profession for a dreamer to have, in my honest opinion, for what other type of work allows one to make his dreams a reality? Truly, animation is the one true profession for dreamers, the most accepting line of work for such strong and skilled personalities. I, myself, find that life is merely a composition of brush strokes and feathered lines sketched by a hand careless in its execution. A hand that may erect and raze as it wishes, or, in such cases as my own, as it is commanded by an even higher power than that which wills life from vacuous space. Among my company my associates, if you will, or if you will not, my coworkers I alone dare to dream of the unreality of life, dare to reject the hand that abides by no mortal law or rule of happiness. My lines do more than animate ink and paper in a sort of strange necromancy. From my own hand I bestow life upon flat bodies, make them twist and turn and sing the body electric . I am a special sort of man, a unique form of animator, one who dreams more than most, often more than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Site Agent Syndrome As we learned the Secret Service , and other agencies, assigns an experienced agent to oversee the advance for every site the president visits during a trip. That site agent is often a senior member of the detail, or at least trusted by his or her colleagues to supervise the complex process of managing even a short visit from the most powerful man in the world. Site agents handle everything. They are responsible for everything. Details matter. If the Secret Service suffers from complacency, or if agents are not properly trained, the sites will fall apart. Errors, large and small, will cascade. Yet here are some news making moments and blunders from the past five years: In November 2009 reality TV stars Tareq and Michaele Salahi became known as the White House party crashers when they attended a White House state dinner without an invitation. The Secret Service let the couple into the White House, where their arrival was broadcast just like every other visiting dignitary. The appearance raised concerns that guests weren t being properly vetted. Another memorable moment happened ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Associated Press. As President Obama spoke at Nelson Mandela s memorial service, he was accompanied by a purported sign language translator. Except the interpreter wasn t actually an interpreter in fact he knew nothing of sign language, had been diagnosed with mental illness and had faced charges of rape and murder in the past. This caused understandable alarm that a potentially dangerous person was allowed to be in such close proximity to the president for so long. The Secret Service responded that agents were in close proximity to the president and while the agents don t know sign language, they know human language and would have taken action if Mr. Jantjie had attempted to harm the president. ... • 37. Taking Sides Clashing Views in Management Introduction Taking Sides Clashing Views in Management written by Marc and Vera Street diverse into some deep, debatable topics. Upon reading each issue, it is clear that there is no right or wrong answer. Several times I found myself torn on both sides; this is I was both for and against certain issues. I have always tried to make decisions as informed as possible but realized that judgments are still personal and what we believe in. Issues Issue 1: I do believe that corporations have a responsibility to society as a whole, not only to maximize their own profits and benefit the economy but also to respect the community that they reside in. They achieve this by not only providing employment, but also upholding an image. It is up to ... But upon further thought and through discovery, I realized that from a business point of view we as a nation should still help promote economic globalization. In order to do so we need to outsource production and encourage trade. However, because we are fiscally involved in another country s economy that doesn t give American corporations the right to implement our laws and standards into other countries business practices and laws. Just because we see child labor, unfair wages, and violating overtime as immoral, doesn t mean that the host county does. However global labor standards need to be unified. Issue 3: Siding with Ira Kay, I agree with his position on the issue. The American Dream is to essentially start from nothing, working up the ladder to gain money, power, and the image of a lavish, executive lifestyle; resulting from hard work paying off and wages that compensate for it. Annual pay and stock incentives for most executives will fluctuate with the company s performance, as well as their personal efforts. If a cap was to be implemented on a CEO s salary, what would be the incentive to stay at the helm of a corporation when the financial glass ceiling has been reached? Issue 4: Does an employer s need to monitor workers trump employee privacy concerns? This is one of these controversial issues where I agree with points from both sides. ... • 38. The Degradation of Women in Hip-Hop Music Videos and... Hip hop began in the 1970s in the south Bronx of New York and served a cathartic purpose for the black community. People could explore issues such as the eradication of racism and equality, but since Hip hop was created, the cathartic use has been abused through the increased use of misogynistic lyrics and music videos. Artists like Ludacris, 50 Cent and Eminem portray women nothing more than ho s , bitches and freaks . Nothing more than sex objects; and yet, their biggest fan base is adolescents, this is dreadful as neuroscientists have discovered that the teenage brain still undergoes the same radical development as seen in childhood . With this new assistance comes many applications that I am not familiar with. Some are very good and some are not up to par. One application in particular that amazes me is a big data application, the name cannot be stated due to confidentiality with HCA, which has a web based interface. More specifically, it is a log management application. The reason why I find it so fascinating is because of how easy it is to find the information needed for how much data it houses. Since it is a big data application, it is searching through petabytes of information. The interface is extremely easy to use and the data ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It may be dangerous to mention how long it takes in order to get there. It is incredibly slow. This just adds to the frustration I witnessed from this experienced user. She has used it before, but was still unable to get where she needed to get to and was having a hard time finding a certain area of the site. This resulted in bringing in one of the subject matter experts from the office in Boone. She asked the question and he was also unable to find the correct information in class. This individual the professor called in is supposed to be the expert on the matter, but was still unable to find the correct information. It is interesting to see how even an expert on a certain system still cannot find simple, necessary information about the course. The argument could be made that it was ignorance of the user, but when thinking about the information needed, it was simple information that would be essential to provide. The site should have ... • 41. Sigmund Freud And Freud s Theory Of The Unconscious Mind... A twenty one year old woman by the name of Anna O that was caring for her ailing father began to experience severe debilitating physical and psychological symptoms. During this period, most psychoses were labeled as hysteria. Anna O began to hallucinate, experience paralysis, and have an extreme aversion to food and drink. She underwent treatment with Dr. Breuer (Oxford Journals, 2005). When Dr. Breuer treated Anna O for her hysteria and her mental and physical symptoms he discovered that as she began to talk of hidden thought processes about her experiences during their discussions, whether through hypnosis or while conscious, certain symptoms would disappear (Oxford Journals, 2005). Dr. Breuer discussed Anna O s case with Sigmund Freud and Freud later perfected this talking cure. Also known as sweeping the chimney or sweeping the mind. Sigmund Freud s theory of the unconscious mind claimed that people experience hysteria or other reactions in response to repressed experiences. The unconscious contains all those drives, urges, or instincts that are beyond our awareness but that nevertheless motivate most of our words, feelings, and actions (Feist Feist, 2008). Freud and his theory are responsible for the birth of what is known today as psychoanalysis and Freud is considered the founding father of psychoanalysis. • 43. Aquinas Third Way Essay Aquinas 3rd Way Aquinas third way argument states that there has to be something that must exist, which is most likely God. He starts his argument by saying not everything must exist, because things are born and die every single day. By stating this we can jump to the conclusion that if everything need not exist then there would have been a time where there was nothing. But, he goes on, if there was a time when there was nothing, then nothing would exist even today, because something cannot come from nothing. However, our observations tell us that something does exist, therefore there is something that must exist, and Aquinas says that something is God. Aquinas argument has a couple of flaws in it. One is pointed out by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The series also can not have a cause from within because no one being within the series is necessary. An example of this would be the set of real numbers we use today. Taking one number away from the set would not cause the set to cease in existence. There is no beginning to the number set and no end as well. If we view the Universe with the same concept then Aquinas theory can be seen to have a major flaw. There is, however, a way to fix Aquinas theory. If we take his logic into account we can say that there was a time when the universe did not exist. But, the universe exists now therefore it must have had a beginning. By definition a necessary being has no beginning and now end. Due to this definition we can say that the universe is not a necessary being. This leaves us with one of three options: there is a necessary being, the universe has always existed, or something can come into existence out of nothing. Due to the big bang theory we can eliminate the theory of the universe always existing. Therefore, there is a necessary being or something can come into existence out of nothing. Because we know that something cannot come into existence out of nothing we determine that there must be a necessary being. However, the necessary being is either God or the universe. Because the universe had a beginning it can not be necessary, therefore God is the necessary being and he must exist. The revised version of Aquinas theory seems to work ...
