Art Appreciation Essays
Writing an essay on the topic of "Art Appreciation Essays" can be quite challenging for several
reasons. Firstly, art is a highly subjective and multifaceted subject, encompassing various styles,
movements, and interpretations. This diversity means that crafting an essay requires a deep
understanding of art history, theory, and criticism to provide meaningful analysis and insight.
Moreover, art appreciation is not just about describing artwork but also about contextualizing it
within its historical, cultural, and social milieu. This necessitates extensive research to gather
relevant information and form cohesive arguments that demonstrate a nuanced understanding of
the art being discussed.
Additionally, writing about art requires a certain level of creativity and eloquence to effectively
convey one's thoughts and interpretations. This involves employing descriptive language,
analytical skills, and critical thinking to engage the reader and provide a compelling narrative
that goes beyond mere observation.
Furthermore, grappling with complex concepts such as aesthetics, symbolism, and artistic intent
adds another layer of difficulty to the essay-writing process. It requires the writer to delve into
theoretical frameworks and philosophical perspectives to offer meaningful interpretations and
evaluations of artwork.
In conclusion, composing an essay on "Art Appreciation Essays" is a challenging task that
demands a combination of research, critical thinking, creativity, and eloquence to effectively
analyze and interpret artwork within its broader context. However, with dedication, effort, and a
passion for art, it is certainly a rewarding endeavor.

Essay On Off Road Driving
Off road driving and benefits of it
In various types of motorcycle driving, off road is definitely most extreme. It s a
whole different look at the motorcycle driving style, nowadays ATV (All Terrain
Vehicle) is becoming the most popular type of motorcycle for off road adventures.
Earlier you had to know all kinds of stuff before going off road, now you only need
strong will and the GPS.
Easy to drive, can t get stuck in mud, for amateurs and professionals. Basically, every
person who enjoys the nature and landscapes can use ATV just slow ride fun.
Enjoying the view, taking pictures and having a good time.
On the other hand, more experienced drivers are facing with the ultimate challenge.
Not to try everything what you can do with ATV. From the high speed forest driving,

Communication in Business in Changing External
Environments
1. Describe the three basic characteristics of changing external environments
Environmental change is the rate at which a company s general and specific
environments change. If the environment is stable, this means that the rate of change
is slow; if the environment is dynamic, this means that the rate of change is fast.
Environmental complexity is the number of external factors in the environment that
affect organizations. Complex environments have many environmental factors;
simple environments have few. Resource Scarcity is the degree to which an
organization s external environment has an abundance or scarcity of critical
organizational resources. 2. How do the characteristics of changing environments

Competitors also influence how a company conducts business in a certain market
segment, the company s location, and the overall strategy a company pursues (attack
or avoid competitors). Suppliers influence the cost of the products and services a
company offers and therefore affect the profitability of the firm. Suppliers (who they
are and what they can provide) also affect the types of products that a company is
able to put on the market. Industry regulation has the potential to influence nearly
every aspect of a company s operations. For example, a caterer would need to comply
with all the health codes and liquor laws that govern its industry. Advocacy groups
affect businesses through boycotts (or support). For example, advocacy groups were
ultimately responsible for Home Depot changing its policy of buying lumber
harvested from old growth forests. 6. Describe the three step process that managers
use to make sense of their changing environments. Environmental scanning: Managers
search the environment for important events or issues that might affect an
organization. This allows managers to stay up to date on important industry factors
and to reduce uncertainty. Interpreting environmental factors: Managers determine
what these environmental events and issues mean to the organization. These events
could present either threats to or opportunities for the organization. 7. How are
organizational cultures created and
Themes And Symbols In Everyday Use
Everyday Use is a story of a mother and her daughters, and how each understands
their present life in relation to the customs of their people and culture. The difference
in beliefs between the mother and Dee is highlighted throughout the story using
several different symbols. The theme of Everyday Use accentuates this symbolic
story full of symbols that show the difference in how mother and daughter
understand their heritage. The three symbols I have selected to show this difference
between characters are the yard and setting of the story, the quilts, and the clothing
of each character. The setting of Everyday Use takes place in the yard of the mother
of both Dee and Maggie. The yard in which is mentioned in both the beginning...

The importance of African American heritage is a focal point of this story and is
represented by the quilts. Quilts in this heritage were symbols of tribes and
religious beliefs. When visiting her mother, Dee is quite emphatic that she wants
these quilts since they are so valuable to her African heritage which she is trying to
live. The quilts mean something different to Dee than they do for her mother and
Maggie. The mother and the maker of the quilts, Aunt Dicie you can tell had a
strong bond and one that Dee and Maggie have never had. The mother wishes to
give the quilts to Maggie, even with Dee s persistent request to receive them. When
asked what Maggie would do with the quilts, she advised that she would hang them
and Dee would merely put them on the bed, and they would be rags in five years
(Kirszner Mandell, 2012, p.351). The difference in meaning of the quilts to both
mother and Dee adds to the overall theme of the story, and shows that remembering
your heritage can mean different things to different people. When Dee believes she is
deserving of the quilts, the mother informs Dee that they have been promised to
Maggie, which shows the appreciation for the true meaning of the quilts and their
heritage (Sustana,
Public Speaking Self Reflection

Public speaking has always been very hard for me, I ve never been the type to

times I ve done presentations I ve always get nervous or shy and always forget
what I rehearsed. In the military I was training Nco, everytime we had a new marine

What do you want to accomplish in this course?
Whether I like it or not I been given the opportunity to talk to large crowds like a
squadron or just a couple of people in the class. My problems have always been the
same getting shy, anxiety, and even sweating. Learn to analyze the size of the
audience, I want to be able to captivate my audience and overall I just need to find
the confidence in myself to do it.
How would you plan to improve weak areas to accomplish your goals? Overall no
matter how many times I do a rehearsal or practice I always get stage fright. Stage
fright is my weakest area I have done rehearsals and private or with one or two
people but when it comes to the bigger picture I always freeze. I need to learn to
speak with confidence and try to get the audience involved instead of rushing the
presentation or speaking very softly so no one hears me I need to be able to let the
audience know that I am confident and the information that I am sharing is worth
their time to listen and learn
An Case Study On The Law Firm
The case study has some very important facts that define not only some errors in
judgement but also some very important violations in employment law. This case
study is based out of a law firm that has hired a partner who did not disclose that
she had a child and the case eludes that she is a single parent. Based on the case
study the other partner that is in the same office who hired her is starting to complain
about the fact that she had not disclosed the fact that she had a child. To this end the
partner has said that he was upset because she had not said anything about the child
when she interviewed (Walsh, 2013, p. 96). The next issue that arises in this case
study is that the male partner that hired her is not only perturbed about the fact that
this new partner has a child but also sees her as less than him. The partner has started
treating her harshly and has started using foul language around her and has begun
claiming that the commitment differential between men and women and telling her a
story about how incredulous he was when a femalepartner who had been on maternity
leave asked about achieving partnership (Walsh, 2013, p. 96).
Additionally, the new female partner was challenged thinking that she was going to
be discriminated against women and children (Walsh, 2013, p.96). This in turn
caused her to discuss her concerns with one of the firms other offices, which caused
a big issue with her own office partners that were entrenched in the firm. The old
Peer Leadership And The Chick-Fil-A Leadership Academy

reputation for diverse experiences and academic success. I hope to bring my own
unique qualities to the table as a UGA student. My own unique leadership
experiences have shaped me over the years. Peer leadership and the Chick fil a
LeadershipAcademy have offered me a wide variety of unique leadership
experiences. I have learned so much from organizing charitable events, to teaching
social skills to autistic and other special needs middle schoolers and the ABCs and

and share my experiences with other players. Last year, my advice helped a player

The Importance Of A Social Work Field
The social work field is solely dedicated to the giving back of others. A person in
the career must be willing to spend hours working to make differences in clients
lives. Children and family social work can be a very rewarding profession but yet
challenging at times. Employees help others in need, advocate for important causes,
and all around make positive impacts in the world. Many people interested in social
workhave personal motivations from their own lives steering them towards the
profession of giving back (Unwinn and Hogg). People who are wanting to make
positive changes in the lives of others are attracted to this career (Vu). To be
successful, one must have a strong passion for helping others (Campus Explorer).
Specific skills required are active listening, speaking, reading comprehension, social
perceptiveness, critical thinking, monitoring, and service orientation (Career Info).
Workers must know how to handle personal services in order to build and strengthen
relationships with clients (Career Info). Knowledge in sociologyand anthropology is
beneficial to every child and family social worker (Career Info). All social workers
in general must have a good understanding of psychology, human behavior, and
differences in individuals (Career Info). Therapy and counseling are two major
factors that play into this field (Career Info). Workers must know correct procedures
and guidance steps (Career Info). Children and family social workers must have the

Central Conflict In All The King s Men
The central conflict of All the King s Men as I understood deals with corruption.
Willie Stark, the protagonist of the play, actually won the election to become
governor, but the citizens of the state were not pleased by his leadership and lack
of duties as a politician. There was a scene in the play in which Willie gets drunk
and he is portrayed as a bad person. People did not like him because he was a
political agitator that uses corruption to gain power. For example, he uses
corruption against his political opponents by speaking the truth. He was using
blackmail and he would use intimidation against others. There was a scene in which
Willie makes a move to impeach Tom so that he is able to take away his
dominance and says that he will build the largest hospital in the United States. He
believes that society is inherently corrupt and that the only way to rise to the top and
gain power is through evil. I understood that people saw him as someone that did not
have knowledge about politics or did not have what what it takes to be a governor
and they believed that he would not be successful. The characters demonstrated
virtuosity by demonstrating their skills as actors as they projected their voice and
body movements in front of the audience. All the characters had clarity in their
speech and elegance of movement.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I believe the playwright of All the King s Men might have wanted to demonstrate the
story of Willie Stark and how he learns an important truth about the American
political system through a female lens. The University of Illinois Department of
Theatre and the director of All the King s Men, Robert Penn Warren, might have
wanted to highlight how democracy is powerless to a political agitator who tells the
people what they want to
Understanding the Role of Army Officer
As a junior leader in the army, I was extremely technical in my job, and displayed
good interpersonal skills with my fellow lieutenants and captains, but did not
conceptually understand the role of an Army officer as I do now. As I move
closer to an organizational level leader, I find that I will be more conceptually
proficient and rely more on interpersonal skills as I move into this stage of my
career. I know the technical aspect of my job, one because signal knowledge and
job responsibilities change as I move through the ranks and the organization. As
organizational leaders, we must be able to apply technical and tactical expertise at
the right time and in the right areas. I will rely on my interpersonal skills more
because I need to be able to influence subordinates and sometimes peers, to do things
for the organization. As an organizational leader, your emotional intelligence is more
refined and tuned in to your subordinates. When taking command, a commander must
be responsible and accountable for his/her organization. A commander must be able
to build a cohesive team, create a shared understanding, provide clear commander s
intent, exercise disciplined initiative, and accept prudent risk. These are the principles
that guide mission command, and how we as commanders should command our
organizations. The commander s tasks, associated with these principles, are the
commanders ability to visualize, describe, direct, and lead. As part of building a

Pansette As An Accomplice In The Case Of Martin Guerre
In Natalie Z. Davis reconstruction of Martin Guerre s famous case of identity theft,
Guerre s eight year absence allowed for Pansette to authentically impersonate him for
three years. . However, following his dispute with his uncle, Pierre Guerre, over the
family inheritance, Pansette was accused of being an impostor, ultimately leading to
his execution. Concluding the case, the court declared Bertrande and the Guerre
familyvictims in the trial. Unlike the participants of the case, Davis does not conform
to the idea of Bertrande as a mere victim, but rather, an accomplice motivated by
socioeconomic status. Critics often question whether Davis interpretations trespass
the boundaries of a historian. Yet, in order to evaluate Davis as a historian,... Show

The key passage for critics explicitly states Davis beliefs of Bertrande as an
accomplice, But the obstinate and honorable Bertrande does not seem a woman so
easily fooled, not even by a charmer like Pansette. By the time she had received him
in her bed, she must have realized the difference; as any wife of Artigat would have
agreed, there is no mistaking the touch of the man on the woman. Either by explicit
or tacit agreement, she helped him become her husband (Davis, 44). The main
argument is that Davis assumptions fail to take into account the ages of Bertrande
and Martin during their marriage, as well as Bertrande s long abstinence as a possible
reason for her memory failure. Yet, Davis arguments are far from imaginative, in
fact, they are derived from the the thoughts of the French peasantry, including those
of Judge Coras himself, She had shared her bed with the prisoner for more than
three years, during which long interval it is not likely that the said de Rols would
not have recognized him for a stranger... (Davis, 79). Contrary to the arguments of
critics, Davis does not fail to demonstrate historical proof for her assumptions, as it is
important for history to take into account the psychology of the
Feminism One Of The Biggest Topics Today And Is Defined
Feminism one of the biggest topics today and is defined as the public support of the
rights of women on the basis of equality of the sexes. In fact, the main reason
feminism is such a popular topic is because of how men were treated as the dominant
gender .
Back then, women were given specific roles by society to be housewives and only
cook and take care of the children. The idea of feminism, however, did slowly
develop until in 1848 after their oppression, when the first Women s conference was
held in Seneca Falls, America. Ever since then, the amount of feminists and feminist
activities around the world have increased a great amount. Feminism has become a
major subject in the media, being represented in television, music and even ... Show

However, in this situation, Josephine rejects her husband not only because of the
abuse, but because she does not need a man to help her get by. Although, soon after,
Serge comes back at night, more drunk and violent than before, to knock some sense
into Josephine. This situation itself seems to be a setup for another one of those
situations where the lady is in trouble, unable to defend herself and a knight in
shining armour(who is male), comes just in time to rescue her and ensure the happy
ending. However, in this situation, Josephine and Vienne manage to knock out Serge
before any real damage. This sends the message that a hero is not always needed for
the damsel in distress. In this situation, two heroines got the job done. In conclusion,
Josephine becomes more of a feminist during her growth without her husband. With
enough courage and strength to leave her husband and grow from an ill thief to

The most focused conflict of the film Chocolat is the conflict between Vienne and
the Comte. Since the Comte, played by Alfred Molina, is in control of most of the
citizens of the church, this becomes more of a person vs society conflict at the
beginning. From the beginning of the film after Vienne and her daughter arrive, the
Comte is convinced that Vienne and her daughter, Anouk, played by Victoire
Thivisol, would bring trouble to

help make choosing student groups easier. Once all the students data was filled in
the next step I took was to fill in the suggested curriculum and suggested strategies
for each student based on their maze and word analysis assessment results. Once I

All groups would meet three times a week, so we would meet every other day to
work on the required skills. I broke my level one students up into two different
groups. Group 1 consists of student 1, student 6, student 15, student 20, and student
23 while group 2 consists of student 9, student 17, student 22, and student 25. All of
group 1 students scored a ninety percentile or higher in reading comprehension (RC)
so I put these students together so I can provide them with more challenging
strategies and higher level skilled work in order to help them continue to grow
academically. Some of the strategies I would use with these students during small
group instruction would be using context clues to, learning new affixes, and root
words to help students read and understand unfamiliar words. I would also work with
these students on different grade appropriate text structures, text features,
summarizing, and main idea to build reading comprehension skills. While my group
2 students are still overall, high leveled students they scored below the ninetieth
percentile but above the eighty fourth percentile. These students would also receive
many of the same instructional strategies that would challenge them, but also help
build upon their existing skills in reading comprehension, vocabulary, and reasoning
Restorative Justice Theory
Restorative justice is a system of criminal justice that focuses on the rehabilitation of
offenders through reconciliation with victims and the community at large. This
criminal justice system that restores promotes accountability between parties
involved and builds the community through the provision of assistance and respects
to victims and anyone involved in the community because crimedisrupts lives.
In my community in Houston Texas, Bridges is a nonprofit corporation that
emphasizes restorative justice. Bridges as its name imply builds bridges between
offenders, victims and the society which are affected by crimes. The aims and
objectives are to rehabilitate and reconcile victims of crime, prison inmates and the
community by bringing healing, forgiveness and recidivism reduction among
offender graduates of the program. They have a fourteen week program in which
volunteers who are victims and offenders are brought together along with a facilitator.
The participants are taught in a classroom environment and given homework, they

Jawaharlal Nehru s Plan Based On Policies Of The Soviet...
2.3Nehru Plan Nehru s period was known by extended economic development
plans that organized as five year plans based on policies of the Soviet Union.
Given the colonial conditions that India had been through; these plans were
particularly admirable for them. By 1970s, regulatory policy regime of India
became gradually restrictive and inward oriented. For Nehru Period; Indian
economic framework was summarized as follows (Narang, 2012): 1.State will
provide straight financing starting with most critical industrial divisions 2.State will
enhance balanced supply and demand in the household market. 3.State will
eliminate unfair competition 4.State will secure best utilization methods of social
assets. Nonetheless, these procurements were perceived as limitative that led to
generation of handicaps on industrial improvements in order to achieve those
goals. As a case in point, under this act, a preceding authorization was mandatory
in order to; 1)Institute a novel industrial cooperative; 2)Enlarge yielding s by more
than 5 % per year; 3)Enlarge yielding s by more than 25% over a period of five
years. For this reason, state was not just entitled as a provider of assistance and
supervision for industrialization as it was manifested in Japan, South Korea and
Taiwan; but its role was protracted as an authority on all operational settlements
including technological improvements or adaptations and position and spectrum of
the operation itself (Narang, 2012). 2.4Foreign
Argumentative Essay On Gene Therapy
Every day, babies are born that will suffer from some sort of genetic disease. As
science is progressing, those diagnosed with these diseases are approaching an
option that could help relieve the symptoms and eventually cure their illness. One
of the first clinical trial patients for this new medical discovery was Mr. Robert
Calhoun. Mr. Calhoun was a 33 year old male who suffered from cystic fibrosis.
Under direction of Dr. Konstan at University of Cleveland, a research team
successfully administered the corrected geneto patient Robert Calhoun through a
nasal drip. After a biopsy of the nasal tissue it was determined the protein
administered to Mr. Calhoun had replaced the faulty gene. This allowed Robert to
cure his cystic fibrosis and lead a more normal, healthy life ( Novel Gene Therapy1).
While gene therapy offers many great benefits to the medical world, there are still
some risks involved in receiving the treatment.
Within everybody there are thousands of genes that determine who people are, what
they look like, and how their body functions. When one is conceived, every one of
the genes that make up who they will be are laid out within their DNA in a certain
sequence. When these genes create an error, it can create genetic diseases such as
sickle cell, cystic fibrosis, and sometimes cancer. Before, those diagnosed with these
genetic diseases seemed to have no cure in sight. Now, with gene therapy they have
hope. Gene therapy is the process of

Anxiety Disorder And Social Anxiety Disorders
Anxiety is considered as a common feature of daily living and is experienced by
every individual in different ways. It generally has both physical and cognitive
attributes which physically leads the body to increasing impairment and cognitively
to an anticipation of threatening events or feelings of apprehension and fear. (Davey,
2016) Experiencing feelings of anxiety is quite natural and the resulting reaction
as well, as they have evolved as adaptive responses that is essential to perform
effectively in challenging situations. However, anxiety can often become so
intense or attached to inappropriate events or moments that it becomes maladaptive
and turns into a problem for the individual (LГ©pine , 2002). At this point an
anxiety disorder may develop. These disorders have the effect of leading the
individual to various long term behavioural, social and community concerns
consisting of impaired family relationships, lack of success in academic life and
other mental health disorders (AACAP Work Group on Quality Issues, 2007; as
cited in Davey, 2016; p. 147) There are several types of anxiety disorders. However,
in this essay I will particularly focus on social anxiety disorder and generalised
anxiety disorder and, compare and contrast the treatment methods surrounding these
two disorders.
Many anxiety disorders usually start from early childhood (Clark, Rodgers,
Caldwell, Power, Stansfeld, 2007). It is relatively normal for an individual to suffer
from more than one
Analysis Of The Film Gravity
I want to start by recognizing that in my earlier film papers I have made the
mistake of summarizing all of the science in each of the films from start to finish.
By doing so my paper essentially became a summary of the film rather than an
explanation of the science found within it. To avoid repeating these mistakes I would
like to focus on a few scientific concepts that I found interesting in this film, Gravity.
The first, and likely most obvious is the conceptof surviving in space. Second, the
concept of floating freely in space. Third, the concept of decomposition in the zero
gravity atmosphere of space. And fourth, the part of the movie where lieutenant
Kowalski propels himself with a fire extinguisher. I believe that Isaac Newtons three
laws can help me to explain these concepts. Gravity was a thrilling film that showed a
situation in which astronauts were stranded in space without a spacecraft or any
means of communication. The surviving astronauts had to fight for their lives in
theoretically hardly survivable and unlivable conditions. The main dilemma, and
theme of the entire film, was the destruction of the International Space Station(ISS)
and most of the astronauts on board. Russia launched a missile into space to destroy
one of their satellites. This turned into a problem when the launch was successful, but
the target was missed and the mission failed. Debris was left spiraling through space
at a rapid pace. Dr. Ryan Stone survived the destruction along with
Underage Drinking
Underage drinking is becoming more of a noticeable problem in society, not only
with high school students, but also with younger generations. Drinking is all over the
television, the radio, and talked about in schools, public places, etc. Alcohol
advertisements are more and more appealing to younger generations. If our youth is
educated at a younger age, if schoolpolicies were stricter, and if clubs and bars
cracked down on underage drinking the problem would not be as serious. Youth
should be well educated about consumption of alcohol well before middle school. By
the time students reach middle school they are already exposed to alcohol. D.A.R.E,
the program that teaches children about alcohol and its effects, should be taught in...

15. This just shows that bartenders are not carding. Their reasons may differ, but it
seems as though females are easily passed off as legal drinking age regardless of
what their I.D. says. From my three years of personal experience in the club
industry I realized many young females received drinks from the bartenders
despite their age. Walking into clubs females usually don t even get carded as long
as they are good looking they get the wristband. Clubs and bars should have
females at the front greeting because that would eliminate underage drinking. Also,
I.D scanners would help because there would no way of getting in with a fake I.D.
If clubs and bars were stricter and had better tools to prevent underage drinking this
problem would decrease rapidly. In conclusion, underage drinking affects should be
taught at a younger age before the kids are exposed. Not only should they be
educated earlier but the schools policies should be stricter as well as college policies.
If schools became stricter along with clubs and bars the future of our youth would
improve. These steps must be taken or our younger generations will start to spiral

Mental Health And Mental Depression
Mental Health and SRM Magda is suffering from depression, or another mental
illness that is like depression. She has not been feeling like her usual self, and no
longer enjoys the things she use to enjoy. She also has anxiety when it comes to
social situation. Magda lives in a country that does not recognize depression as a
valid illness, and there is stigma she would have to deal with if she sought medical
treatment. I will be using the Self Regulatory Model (SRM) and additional
information to help explain why Magda has not sought help for her mental illness,
and how she could use SRM to seek help. Before I begin, I would like to define
what depression is and what depression is not. Depression is defined as feelings of
sadness and/or a loss of interest in activities once enjoyed. (American Psychiatric
Association, 2017). Depression is not just being sad for a day. To diagnose
someone with depression an individual must have the symptoms related to
depression for more than two weeks (American Psychiatric Association, 2017).
Depression is not being able to enjoy or do the things you use to do. It is a valid
illness. Now that I have defined what I mean by depression, I will get to my point.
Mental illness is a controversial subject. According to the National Alliance on
Mental Illness (NAMI) (2015), 1in 5 adults in the USA suffer from some form of
mental illness. That s roughly 40 million adults. You probably know someone who
suffers from a mental illness, or you yourself

The Newton s first law is applicable, not only to inanimate objects but to human

where I led a team of 13 engineers split across two different locations. Leading a
team that was working from different locations helped me improve my
communication and leadership skills. The second project I worked on was a study
project that had an objective of finding solutions to increase capacity of a deluge
water system on Snorre Oil platform located on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
This project exposed me to the different stages of an EPCI (Engineering Procurement
Construction and Installation) project. Along with learning the technicalities of the
various disciplines in the industry, I have also learned about the Cost, Schedule and
Management aspects of a multidisciplinary project. As most projects nowadays
involve interfacing between different disciplines, I believe that this experience will
help me take better cost decisions with regards to engineering and will help me
execute a project better in a multidisciplinary
Theme Of The Storm By Kate Chopin
The Storm
Kate Chopin died in 1904, 16 years before women received the right to vote. She
was raised by mother s family, aristocratic Creoles and married a Creole cotton
broker from New Orleans. They lived on a plantation near Cloutierville, Louisiana.
After her husband s unexpectedly death, she turned to writing. In defiance of her
time, she wrote frank descriptions of women s sexual desires. She also usually set
her stories in Louisiana. Her use of setting has caused to be known as regional writer.
An excellent example of her frank descriptions and regionalism is her short story, The
Storm. The Storm, is about a woman who has an affair while rain storm rolls in in
rural Louisiana. Within the story, Chopin uses her setting to establish the story s,
characterization and symbolism. The Storm uses its setting to enhance and deepen
the readers understand of the text. One of the things that the setting does it ... Show

The storm s building tension, climax and retreat perfectly mirrors Calixta sexual
desires. Although the reader first encounters the storm in the first chapter; it is in
the second chapter with Calixta that one can begin to understand it s symbolic
meaning. At first, Calixta doesn t notice the storm encroaching. However, after she
undoes her collar of her dress; exposing her DГ©colletage; an arguably a sensual
moment. The next line in the story is It began to grow dark (Chopin 6). Similary,
She had not seen him (AlcГ©e) very often since her marriage, and never alone. She
stood there with BobinГґt coat in her hands, and the big rain drops began to fall.
(Chopin 7) The parallel running description in her lines in extremely intentional on
Chopin part. She ties Calixta desire to this storm throughout the whole story. When
AlcГ©e and Calixta first join, the storm is raging outside and when their union is
over; so is the storm. This parallelism solidifies the storms symbolic meaning within

Summary Of Suicide Note By Janice Mirikitani
Nowadays, it seems like we hear a lot about suicide and who did what and all about
their life story. You hear many stories about how no one knew it was coming and
they showed no signs. It is a hard pill to swallow when most of the time you realize
that they probably showed countless amount of signs but it is that no one really paid
attention to the signs. Suicide Note was written by Janice Mirikitani, it is about an
Asian American girl who committed suicide. It is often said that she committed
suicide for having a less than perfect grade point average but I think throughout the
poem, it seems like something a little more hiding beneath the cover of this college
student s death. The Suicide Note is a very blunt title for a poem. It is everything
you would think it would be and more. The poem has a little paragraph before it
explaining what the poem is based off on a college student committed suicide... Show

She is trying to tell her parents that she did not mean to disappoint them. She is
saying that she is sorry for not being the best that they wanted her to be. She is
telling them she is sorry because she believes she could have done something to
get the better grades or be the person her parents wanted her to be. The college girl
thinks this all could have been avoided if she would of just been born a boy. It is
crazy to think what did her parents tell her? Did her parents show her any love at
all? Did they not see the warning signs that she was gonna commit suicide? They
probably did not see it because the college girl was so caught up trying to be
perfect for her parents that she did not think about herself. She did not think about
how all these thoughts about her being a bad person were sucking her up in to a
black hole that she could never escape. She was scared to let her feelings out to her
parents because she was afraid they would see her as weak. She tried her hardest to

The Development of Religious Archetecture in New
Kingdom...
The expansion of the political and economical power during the New kingdom, led to
the devotion of resources to the religious architecture; numerous new temples were
constructed while the pre existing temples were renovated. Individual Pharaohs
endeavored to out do their ancestors, not only in the construction of their own
mortuary temples, but also in the establishment of worship temples of their deities.
Kings of this period abandoned the pyramid complexity of the earlier ages and
constructed their tombs in the Valley of the Kings well away from their mortuary
temples due to the increase of robbers; therefore a standardized plan became default
for both the worship and mortuary temples. Because of this movement, I believe that

The turning point of the New Kingdom s architecture was during the reign of
Akhenaten, which took place during the Amarna period. During this era, the sun god
Aten became superior over all the gods, thus leading to the abolition of the former
gods that caused Egypt to have a polytheistic religion. Traditional temples became
neglected, whilst Aten temples of differing sharper construction emerged. Although
none of the temples of this period survived due to the ravages of later kings, yet
(image 7) portrays that the Amarna temples did not follow along the traditional
footsteps of previous architecture, instead they were smaller in size, with sanctuaries
open to the sun for the direct worship of Aten, with no doors and a large number of
altars. During the reign that followed, of Amehotep III and Ramses II, the
monotheistic religion returned and many noted changes took place. The tendency of
huge royal statues and funerary temples were a common feature as well as the
gradual yielding to columns with plant motifs and Osiride pillars, completely
transformed the atmosphere of the temples interior. A complete alternation in the
interiors of the great halls and courtyards of the temples resulted from the change of
supports, columns. Image 8 portrays the evolution of papyrus columns, from the 5th
dynasty all the way through the 20th. During the 18th dynasty, the
Cargill Mcgillian s Merciless-Personal Narrative
In my line of work there s a difference between being merciless and being efficient. I
smirked devilishly to myself as my knifed gleamed in the moonlight. I made my

name was Cargill McGillian, or as he was known formally, Duke McGillian. He
came from a wealthy family; he was rude to his servants. Possible the thing I hated
most about him was that he was one of those bugs on the Royal council, and he
was about to get squashed. I inched my blade closer to his neck, so close his breath
fogged up the smooth silver surface. His eyes jolted open, I cursed silently to

Kali Linux:
Kali Linux is a Linux distribution which is primarily for the security service such
as like digital forensics and penetration testing. It comes on pre loaded and pre

This type of search use case is useful in identifying the tables and entries with
confidential/certified data which can be a huge loss in case of an attack.
The most important functionality that it offers is that it can help create an out of
band stateful TCP connection between the attacker and the database which can then
help us emulate an actual scenario where the system is under attack.
These are the various ways in which sqlmap gives us a way to protect and secure
our database servers underlying the operation system of our web and mobile
applications from a potential cyber security t.
Reaver:
Reaver implements a robust and practical brute force attack targeting a Wi Fi
Protected Setup (WPS) enabled router. It uses all the permutations and combinations
on 6 digit pins to obtain the passphrases out of it. [5] It can crack wps pins
extremely quickly with the time for default configured pin averaging around 3 5
seconds.
Usage: Run reaver is used to test wireless penetration for Wi Fi enabled applications
and or web servers. It can take seconds or hours based on the target network. It may
vary based on the password length field as well as the pin configuration restrictions.
Once we have the passphrases obtained by reaver for our use case and the time
taken for doing so, we can evaluate the general design for the password security for
our application and the amount of bounding restrictions we ask the user to take care of
Examples Of Literary Devices In The Merchant Of Venice
Literary devices are frequently used throughout acts four and five of Shakespeare s
The Merchant of Venice. Some of the most prominent devices used on TMOF are
dramatic irony, allusion and symbolism. These devices help further develop theme
ingrained in the story such as marriage, deceive, wealth, and religion. The use of
literary devices helps ensure the story transitions smoothly and is pleasant to the
reader, it might also help in the comprehension of the storyВґs characters.
Dramatic Irony is present several times in The Merchant of Venice, for example, in
act four scene one when Bassanio remarks that he would give everything up for

There are several allusions to Greek myths in the conversation between Jessica and
Lorenzo in act five scene one. The moon shines bright. In such a night as this, When
the sweet wind did gently kiss the trees and they did make no noise, in such a night
Troilus, methinks, mounted the Trojan walls and sighed his soul toward the Grecian
tents where Cressida lay that night, in such a night Stood Dido with a willow in her
hand Upon the wild sea banks, and waft her love To come again to Carthage [...] In
such a night did Jessica steal from the wealthy Jew, and with an unthrift love did
run from Venice. The tales of Troilus, Thisbe, Dido and Jason are compared to
Lorenzo s and Jessica s story. Lorenzo draws comparison between these stories
because they all happened in night like the one they are on. This suggests their
love and marriage is as epic and memorable as the myths mentioned before. Both
these examples of allusion can be linked to the theme of marriage. Marriage is also
a symbol throughout the story. There is a plethora of symbols used throughout the
story, but perhaps the most evident are marriage and Portia s ring. While both
Bassanio and Jessica seem to love their spouses, it can t be denied that one of the
reasons that both seek marriage was personal gain. The ring given to Bassanio by
Portia symbolizes commitment, and when Bassanio gives it away, Portia

Children And Type 2 Diabetes
Children and Type 2 Diabetes Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) has been reported
with increased frequency over the last twenty years in adolescents and children in the
United States. As a result of T2DM glucose metabolism within the body of affected
adolescents and children is severely compromised. Formerly known as adult onset
and/or insulinresistant diabetes T2DM occurs due to the cell inability to properly use
insulin which then results in lowered secretion of insulin as well as insulin resistance.
Proactive steps if taken during pre diabetic stages in the form of increased activity,
dietary changes, weight reduction, and use of medicinal intervention in order to
increase sensitivity to insulin and decrease production of glucose helps... Show more

Contributing Behavioral Factors
Severe obesity has shown to be the common link in diagnosis of T2DM in children
and youth. According to Kaufman while there appears to be a host of genetic and
environmental risk factors for T2DM, perhaps the most significant risk factor is
obesity. Also noted were the risk posed by sedentary lifestyles as a result of lack of
exercise. With obesity being a proven link to increased incidence of childhood
T2DM one rightfully assumes the role of diet and exercise is also significant. In
this the era of social media, get it quick, enlarged portion sizes, and microwave
mentalities our youth are paying the price and becoming less physically active, less
social, resulting in obesity and poor health. With outdoor activities and socialization,
giving way to video games, and time on the computer the lifestyle behaviors of
present no longer promote healthy life and dietary choices and growth they are more
in line with poor health, poor choices, and stagnation, thus it no surprise that obesity
and T2DM has risen significantly over the last twenty years in youth populations.
Sadly although there is much information at our fingertips due to the rise of
technology and information age the habits adopted as a result of technological
advances have proven to be more detrimental than beneficial to the health and overall
well being of today s youth. The influx of processed foods and increased sugar
consumption has
Social Cognition And Interaction Influence On Society
Social Cognition and Interaction While analyzing the impact of the interaction of
self and the society we see that the self generally influences the society. This is
done by actions of individuals which lead to the creation of groups, networks and
organizations of people. On the other hand society also affects and molds an
individual with its shared values and collective norms which helps in giving an
individual its identity and a role in the society. An example of this type of
interaction would be when a person moves to different locality, that individuals
preference and lifestyle changes as per the norms and practices of the society and
likewise if a certain behavior is followed by that person then people in the society
also get influenced by that behavior. Further concepts of self, awareness and self
schemas could be effectively used for self development. It is said that what we
think of ourselves, is what we make out of ourselves. Hence self schema could lead
to actions resulting in a state which we want ourselves to be. Generally if we
create and idea of self and interact with others in the society, it gives an impression
to the society about the way we think and the way we receive things from the
society. Great leaders have a dream and confidence in them which is reflected in
their actions and the interaction with the society. Hence it is important to be self
aware and understand self very clearly. Further self concept refers to the act of
holding ourselves when we
Gas Guzzler Tax Case Study
Introduction
Gas economy in today s times has been one of the major issues that the U.S
government has been trying to solve ever since the auto industry had a financial and
economic effect in your economy. Now the government must intervene in this
Keynesian economist mode of thought in order to get the economy into equilibrium
of aggregated demand and short run aggregated supply. During this time the
expectations for vehicle purchases were at an all time low due to the expectation of
the consumer of not making enough wages to cover their financial need. In order to
stimulate the economy the government had to promote more spending by creating
supply and demand for more fuel efficient vehicles, trying to keep fuel prices at

There are multiple ways but in particular I will be focusing on the taxes that are
imposed when a vehicle is purchased and how greenhouse is effected when vehicles
emit carbon monoxide into the environment. The United States is one of major
countries in the world that consume oil so it is only feasible that we are as country
need to control our oil consumption and have less reliance in foreign nations. In
order to do that the government must develop policies for reducing gasoline
consumption and fuel economy regulations that manufacturers must adhere to.
One policy that was put in effect is what economist calls the Gas Guzzler Tax .
This tax levied an excise tax on passenger cars that have fuel economy below a
certain level. The minimum tax is $1,000 on passenger cars that get below 22.5
mile per gallon (mpg), and any vehicle getting above that fuel economy is free of
taxation. The maximum tax is $7,000 for any vehicle with a combined fuel
economy rating below 12.5 mpg. (Austin,2003) While on the other hand there are
benefits for owning clean vehicles. With the Clean Fuel Vehicle Tax Deduction
consumer are able to deduct $2,000 off of the manufacturer s sticker price. The only
stipulation was that the vehicle must operate under alternative fuels such as
hydrogen, compressed natural gas, and electricity. Here is a chart in 2006 that
shows how much the Gas Guzzler Tax and Hybrid Vehicle Tax Credit made that year.
Now on the other side of the spectrum you might wonder how the environment is
changed due to the release of carbon monoxide into the environment. There are two
important ratings the consumers should be aware when purchasing a vehicle. If you
re shopping for a vehicle and you happen to look at the Fuel Economy and
Environment Label. Focus your attention on the Fuel Economy Green House Rating
and Smog Rating. The label shows you how

Introduction
Clustered regulatory interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR) and CRISPR
associated protein 9 (Cas9) are an immune response evolved by bacteria and archea
as an adaptive defense mechanism to invading DNA. (4) The CRISPR Cas9 system
relies on the uptake of invading DNA fragments that are then inserted into
CRISPR loci. (4) In the CRISPR loci, repeats are separated by nucleotide spacers
which match and or composed of invading DNA.(4) New spacer DNA is
incorporated by Cas1 and Cas2.(4) The CRISPR spacer loci then transcribe into short
CRISPR RNAs (crRNA) which anneal to foreign nucleic acids in conjunction with
complementary binding trans activating cr RNA(tracrRNA) to form a duplex which
is then cleaved to provide a guiding RNA cr/tracr RNA hybrid.(4) the RNA hybrid
acts as a guiding mechanism for Cas9 by complementary binding to the invading
nucleotides.(4) Cas9 is an endonuclease that can cause a double stranded cleave in
DNA(4) Cas9 guided with sgRNA then cleaves the foreign DNA resulting in double
stranded breaks effectively disrupting and thereby removing a gene.(1)(2)(3)(4) After
a ds break occurs cellular machinery attempts to fix the break with non homologous
end joining in which cellular systems effectively sutures the broken ends of the DNA
by recombining the remaining ends of DNA to once again produce a continuous

Cyber Security And Security Of The Users
Abstract
Vehicular networking technology is no more a futuristic concept it is becoming a
reality with the aim of providing services related to traffic safety, traffic efficiency
and infotainment [1]. When these kinds of services are introduced, they also bring in
the vulnerabilities associated with them, resulting in increased number of security
threats and attacks. Hence, it is very important to ensure that these services do not
compromise the safety and security of the users [2]. This paper aims to provide a
brief overview of cyber security in vehicular networks by analyzing its vulnerabilities,
challenges and solutions.
I. Introduction
Vehicular networks consist of in vehiclenetworks and vehicular ad hoc networks
(VANETs). The in vehicle network consists of several Electronic Control Units
(ECUs) connected to each other using different communication protocols like
Controller Area Network (CAN), Local Interconnect Network (LIN), etc. [3]. The in
vehicle network helps in implementing applications like climate control, engine
management, transmission etc. VANETs include vehicle to vehicle (V2V)
communication and vehicle to infrastructure (V2I) communication; the combination
of which enables in making driving safer and better.
Keeping the safety applications in mind, the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration (NHTSA) announced in 2014 that it will start crafting a new rule
which would require cars to talk to each other [4]. While this is a major step in making
Advantage And Advantages Of Homeostasis
Homeostasis is a system to maintain a stable environment within an organism. An
important example of homeostasis is the regulation of body temperature. There are
two types of blooded organisms. The first type are warm blooded which are called
endotherms and the second type are cold blooded which are called ectotherms.
Endotherms are mainly organisms such as humans, mammals and birds. Ectotherms
are mainly organisms such as reptiles, fish and insects. In terms of maintaining
temperature , the difference between endotherms and ectotherms is that endotherms
generates their own heat from within, whereas ectotherms changes its temperature
with the environment. It attracts heat from the outside. The advantages of being an
endotherm is that it has a stable body temperature which allows optimization of
normal body functions such as metabolism, enzymes to work to a specific
temperature. This ensures that regardless of the environmental conditions as long as
the organism maintains it temperature homeostasis , it will still perform normal body
functions at its optimum temperature. The disadvantage of being an ectotherm is that
to maintain a stable body temperature requires a lot of energy. Endotherms make sure
to maintain their high body temperature by burning calories to generate their own
heat. If they don t have a high temperature, they won t burn as much calories
therefore would have to survive on less food which will affect the growth rate of the
organism. Homeostasis gets

Chapter 1
The Problem and Its Background
Introduction
In the past, pre enrollment systems took a lot of time to accomplish, from securing
plenty of forms, to getting cleared, enlisting subjects, and scheduling. Some schools
even have subject advisement before and after the enlistment phase. All these
processes were done manually and were very time consuming. Now however, with
the option of porting all these operations over the internet, they have become faster to
do, more convenient, and easily scalable. This chapter will cover the current systems
for clearance, enlistment, and classroom management of Cosmopoint International
Institute of Technology (CIIT) and propose an online system to manage these tasks. It
will discuss the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Executive Summary
The Enlistment and Clearance System will allow students of CIIT to check online if
they are eligible to take the subjects that they need for the upcoming trimester.
Students will login to the website and they can view all the subjects they have already
taken, their grades on these subjects, subjects that they are eligible to take for the
next trimester, the schedule and classroom assignments for the said subjects, and the
student s clearance status. When a student enlists online, he picks the subjects that
he is eligible to take for the next trimester. He will also be able to choose the
schedule of the said subjects if there is more than one class being offered. After
picking the subjects and schedule, he will be shown a completed assessment form
that he can print out. He will then bring this form to the school registrar where he
can pay the necessary fees and be officially enrolled. Professors of CIIT will be
able to upload their students grades online. School administrators can change a
student s clearance status online for any reason that they see fit. Actions done will
be logged. All these processes are currently being done manually by CIIT. It is
tedious and time consuming for a lot of the students and the school s registrar office.
The Online Enlistment and Clearance System aims to replace these with an easier

Write An Essay On Ranitidine
Ranitidine (Zantac) is a medication that is classified as a histamine antagonist which
blocks the H2 receptor sites in the stomach to decrease the production of stomach
acid.1 This mechanism of action is beneficial for individuals suffering from
gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) where stomach acid makes its way back up
the esophagus causing a burning sensation. Many women during pregnancy can
experience GERD symptoms due to the increased pressure on the lower esophageal
sphincter allowing stomach acid to ascend into the esophagus. The current 2013
GERD treatment guidelines supplied by the American College of Gastroenterology
recommend ranitidine as a treatment for the maintenance of GERD symptoms that
does not cause esophageal damage,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
looked into the use of ranitidine 150 mg once daily or twice daily compared to
placebo twice daily in pregnant women at 20 weeks gestation who experienced
heartburn symptoms consistent with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
The design of the trial consisted of 4 separate weeks with week one being a
baseline use of antacids, then weeks 2 4 as a combination of antacids with placebo
in the morning and ranitidine 150 mg once at bedtime, ranitidine 150 mg twice
daily, or placebo twice daily. The statistical test used in the study was the Wilcoxon
signed rank test and the trial was powered to 0.95 with 19 patients, while the actual
end result of the trial had 18 participants. The primary outcome for the study was
the reduction of GERD symptoms as recorded by each participant in their personal
diary entries. When comparing ranitidine 150 mg twice daily to placebo, there was
shown to be a 44.2% reduction in heartburn intensity which was statistically
significant with a 95% CI of [15.4% 72.9%] and a P value 0.05. The use of
ranitidine 150 mg only once a day was deemed to show no statistical significant
reduction in heartburn with a P value = 0.21 when compared to both placebo and
baseline antacid
Children Are The Future Of The World
In today s society, children encounter many different troubles, and they struggle
with things than most people actually don t notice, but who does a person refer to
when they suspect something is troubling a child? Whose responsibility is it to
help the child whenever there is a problem in need of addressing, and how would
they go about solving the problem? Sometimes it can be a challenging task to
figure out what can be troubling a child. Because children in modern society are
exposed to and involved with so much more than past generations, it makes it
difficult for adults to connect and understand what the children go through because
they don t experience the same things that the child does on a daily basis. The
youth today are the future of the world, which makes it a major priority for them to
be provided with basic needs for living and also for them to be mentally and
physically healthy, as well as keeping them happy during the time of their life where
they should have very little responsibility and live carefree. Many children have a
hard time when dealing with things troubling them and a harder time talking to
someone about those things that are causing troubles with them. School Social Work
deals with children and their families throughout the course of adolescent education.
Children in today s society experience many troubles that can go unnoticed a
majority of the time. Fortunately, when a child is showing strong signs of a problem,
there are school social

Reflection Of The EQ Radio
2a) My computational artifact represents the EQ Radio. Researchers from MIT s
CSAIL have developed a device that can determine people s emotions by analyzing
reflections in wireless signals. Using RF waves to measure heartbeat and breathing,
researchers can figure out how you re feeling[1]. In my picture, the EQ Radio[4] can
be seen bouncing wirelesssignals[5] off of the patient s body[5] and using reflected
signals to deduce their heart rate, breathing patterns, and other factors that are
symptomatic of certain emotions[4]. Unlike other emotiondetection systems, EQ
Radio doesn t rely on typical emotional cues, like facial expressions, which are not
always reliable. Instead, it works like this: The EQ Radio sends out a wireless signal
that bounces off your body. The reflection measures not only your breathing, but also
your heart rate.
2b)To create my computational artifact representing the EQ Radio, I used the
program Microsoft Paint. First, I took an image of the EQ Radio on Google
Images and copy and put it on a blank canvas[4]. Then, I found some images of the
signals the EQ Radio uses and put those into the canvas as well[4]. Then, I drew
arrows from each box to a text box where I explained how the signal contributes to
the emotion reading. Lastly, used the pencil tool to draw the signals bouncing off of
an image of a person from Google Images[5].
2c) The EQ Radio is a machine designed to read your emotions based off of
involuntary changes in your body s behavior,
Essay On My Brother Sam Is Dead
War Is Never Right
But somehow, fifty years later, I keep thinking that there might have been another
way, besides war, to achieve the same end (Collier and Collier 211). The quote
shows how there could possibly be another way to solve the British and Patriots
argument. In James and Christopher Collier s historical fiction book, My Brother
Sam Is Dead, the story takes place during the American Revolution which occurred
in 1775. To many people in the book, both sides believe that war is always unfair.
War could tear families or people apart or bring them together as a group to fight.
The Patriots fight for their own freedom by revolting and creating the American
Revolution. In the historical fiction novel, My Brother Sam Is Dead, there ... Show

Both sides to Tim are bad in both ways. Finally, when Mr. Meeker did not allow
Sam to take the Brown Bess to fight with, Sam stole the gun. Sam disobeyed his
father and Tim tries to take it back. Tim kept on trying to persuade Sam to give the
gun back to Mr. Meeker, but he keeps ignoring Tim s request. When Tim tries to
steal the gun from Sam, Sam immediately found out and chased after Tim. When
Sam caught up to Tim, Tim started to blackmail and said that he would shoot the
gun at Sam if he got closer. Don t come any closer, Sam, or I ll shoot you (Collier
and Collier 55). This shows that even war can tear the two brothers that love each
other apart. Families can still be teared apart from any type of war.
Another reason why the authors are against war is due to the clash of generations.
During the American Revolution, Yale students would go to get weapons and
they would join the war. The younger adults believe that they should join the war to
fight for freedom. Yale students did rush away to get weapons and join the war in
1775 (Collier and Collier 214). These college students are sacrificing their lives to
fight for their own freedom. On the other hand, the adults say that war is bad and
that no one should fight. Grownups believe that it is not worth it to fight for their
own freedom. Many people say that war is unfair or not worth it. I think men of
common sense will prevail. Nobody wants rebellion except fools and hotheads
(Collier and Collier 6). Mr.

Content Structuring
One of the qualities that a good teacher should possess is to help and ensure that our
students develop skills that will last a lifetime. One way we can do this is to help
students develop good organization and note taking skills. Using graphic organizers
is an easy and effective way to deliver information and demonstrate new techniques to
students. Graphic organizers are also great tools that help students focus on what they
are learning and also aid in learning the information.
Because there are so many different types of organizers and a variety of uses for
them, the way each are introduced is crucial. The proper introduction will ensure that
the students will be able to identify, organize, and integrate key... Show more content

Also, when using a Venn diagram, we don t have to use complete sentences because
there is not a lot of room, so we will just write a word or two.
What can we say about the candy bar? (Student responses are written on one side of
the diagram) Alright, good. Now what can we say about the granola bar? (Student
responses are written on the other side of the diagram) Good job everyone! So what
do these two things have in common? This is what we will be writing in the middle
part of the Venn diagram.
(Students discuss similarities, and I write their responses in the middle of the

Awesome work everyone! I think you guys are getting the hang of it.
Ok class, now we are going to be comparing the main characters from two different
books. I am going to read you a story and I want you to listen to the story because we
will be discussing it afterwards. (I read the story aloud.)
Alright, so tell me some things about the main character, and I will write them in the

everyone!
Now I have a small challenge for you. I have printed out a Venn diagram for all of
you to fill out using the information we gathered from the first story, and also from a
second book that I will read aloud, but this time you will be working in small

Equality s Dark Side in In Kurt Vonnegut s Harrison...
Equality s Dark Side in In Kurt Vonnegut s Harrison Bergeron
The goal of countless societies throughout human history has been to establish both
complete freedom and absolute equality. However, this goal is, by its very nature,
unachievable. These two ideal states cannot coexist in their most perfect forms. Also,
the perfect forms of either freedom or equality represent total chaos or total
oppression, respectively. In Kurt Vonneguts Harrison Bergeron, we see the
consequences of sacrificing freedom for perfect equality. Vonnegut uses the story of
this utopia gone wrong to demonstrate that a society in which total equality exists is
not only oppressive, but also static and inefficient. He makes this point using his
futuristic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the case of Harrison Bergeron, this is represented by Diana Moon Glampers.
She is never portrayed as having any handicaps and must be assumed to have a
level of intelligence above that of Hazel, who represents what this society calls
normal, to carry out her job. Societal changes do not happen over night. If people s
freedom were taken away in one fell swoop they would fight it. Instead, oppression
is a series of small losses of freedom. It s like the old analogy of a frog and boiling
water. If you drop a frog in boiling water, he jumps out, on the contrary, if you put a
frog in cool water and slowly raise it to boiling, he boils to death. This process is
shown in the story by the fact that All this equality was due to the 211th, 212th, and
213th Amendments to the Constitution (243). Given that this story was written in
1961, is set in 2081, and is the author s prediction for the future of his society, we
can assume that this process of making everyone equal through oppression took
place over a 120 year period. Some would argue that, although we re not to this
level of oppression yet, we re well on our way with institutions such as affirmative
action. Whereas equality is sometimes the will of the governed people, this is often
not the case. People like to be rewarded for doing things that are above and beyond
average. If they can do a better job and make more money than next person, they
believe they should be allowed to. Even the below average of

  • 3. Communication in Business in Changing External Environments 1. Describe the three basic characteristics of changing external environments Environmental change is the rate at which a company s general and specific environments change. If the environment is stable, this means that the rate of change is slow; if the environment is dynamic, this means that the rate of change is fast. Environmental complexity is the number of external factors in the environment that affect organizations. Complex environments have many environmental factors; simple environments have few. Resource Scarcity is the degree to which an organization s external environment has an abundance or scarcity of critical organizational resources. 2. Competitors also influence how a company conducts business in a certain market segment, the company s location, and the overall strategy a company pursues (attack or avoid competitors). Suppliers influence the cost of the products and services a company offers and therefore affect the profitability of the firm. Suppliers (who they are and what they can provide) also affect the types of products that a company is able to put on the market. Industry regulation has the potential to influence nearly every aspect of a company s operations. For example, a caterer would need to comply with all the health codes and liquor laws that govern its industry. Advocacy groups affect businesses through boycotts (or support). For example, advocacy groups were ultimately responsible for Home Depot changing its policy of buying lumber harvested from old growth forests. 6. Describe the three step process that managers use to make sense of their changing environments. Environmental scanning: Managers search the environment for important events or issues that might affect an organization. This allows managers to stay up to date on important industry factors and to reduce uncertainty. Interpreting environmental factors: Managers determine what these environmental events and issues mean to the organization. These events could present either threats to or opportunities for the organization. 7. How are organizational cultures created and
  • 4. Themes And Symbols In Everyday Use Everyday Use is a story of a mother and her daughters, and how each understands their present life in relation to the customs of their people and culture. The difference in beliefs between the mother and Dee is highlighted throughout the story using several different symbols. The theme of Everyday Use accentuates this symbolic story full of symbols that show the difference in how mother and daughter understand their heritage. The three symbols I have selected to show this difference between characters are the yard and setting of the story, the quilts, and the clothing of each character. The setting of Everyday Use takes place in the yard of the mother of both Dee and Maggie. The yard in which is mentioned in both the beginning... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The importance of African American heritage is a focal point of this story and is represented by the quilts. Quilts in this heritage were symbols of tribes and religious beliefs. When visiting her mother, Dee is quite emphatic that she wants these quilts since they are so valuable to her African heritage which she is trying to live. The quilts mean something different to Dee than they do for her mother and Maggie. The mother and the maker of the quilts, Aunt Dicie you can tell had a strong bond and one that Dee and Maggie have never had. The mother wishes to give the quilts to Maggie, even with Dee s persistent request to receive them. When asked what Maggie would do with the quilts, she advised that she would hang them and Dee would merely put them on the bed, and they would be rags in five years (Kirszner Mandell, 2012, p.351). The difference in meaning of the quilts to both mother and Dee adds to the overall theme of the story, and shows that remembering your heritage can mean different things to different people. When Dee believes she is deserving of the quilts, the mother informs Dee that they have been promised to Maggie, which shows the appreciation for the true meaning of the quilts and their heritage (Sustana,

  • 6. An Case Study On The Law Firm The case study has some very important facts that define not only some errors in judgement but also some very important violations in employment law. This case study is based out of a law firm that has hired a partner who did not disclose that she had a child and the case eludes that she is a single parent. Based on the case study the other partner that is in the same office who hired her is starting to complain about the fact that she had not disclosed the fact that she had a child. To this end the partner has said that he was upset because she had not said anything about the child when she interviewed (Walsh, 2013, p. 96). The next issue that arises in this case study is that the male partner that hired her is not only perturbed about the fact that this new partner has a child but also sees her as less than him. The partner has started treating her harshly and has started using foul language around her and has begun claiming that the commitment differential between men and women and telling her a story about how incredulous he was when a femalepartner who had been on maternity leave asked about achieving partnership (Walsh, 2013, p. 96). Additionally, the new female partner was challenged thinking that she was going to be discriminated against women and children (Walsh, 2013, p.96). This in turn caused her to discuss her concerns with one of the firms other offices, which caused a big issue with her own office partners that were entrenched in the firm. The old

  • 9. Central Conflict In All The King s Men The central conflict of All the King s Men as I understood deals with corruption. Willie Stark, the protagonist of the play, actually won the election to become governor, but the citizens of the state were not pleased by his leadership and lack of duties as a politician. There was a scene in the play in which Willie gets drunk and he is portrayed as a bad person. People did not like him because he was a political agitator that uses corruption to gain power. For example, he uses corruption against his political opponents by speaking the truth. He was using blackmail and he would use intimidation against others. There was a scene in which Willie makes a move to impeach Tom so that he is able to take away his dominance and says that he will build the largest hospital in the United States. He believes that society is inherently corrupt and that the only way to rise to the top and gain power is through evil. I understood that people saw him as someone that did not have knowledge about politics or did not have what what it takes to be a governor and they believed that he would not be successful. The characters demonstrated virtuosity by demonstrating their skills as actors as they projected their voice and body movements in front of the audience. Understanding the Role of Army Officer As a junior leader in the army, I was extremely technical in my job, and displayed good interpersonal skills with my fellow lieutenants and captains, but did not conceptually understand the role of an Army officer as I do now. As I move closer to an organizational level leader, I find that I will be more conceptually proficient and rely more on interpersonal skills as I move into this stage of my career. I know the technical aspect of my job, one because signal knowledge and job responsibilities change as I move through the ranks and the organization. As organizational leaders, we must be able to apply technical and tactical expertise at the right time and in the right areas. I will rely on my interpersonal skills more because I need to be able to influence subordinates and sometimes peers, to do things for the organization. As an organizational leader, your emotional intelligence is more refined and tuned in to your subordinates. These are the principles that guide mission command, and how we as commanders should command our organizations. The commander s tasks, associated with these principles, are the commanders ability to visualize, describe, direct, and lead. As part of building a cohesive
  • 11. Pansette As An Accomplice In The Case Of Martin Guerre In Natalie Z. Davis reconstruction of Martin Guerre s famous case of identity theft, Guerre s eight year absence allowed for Pansette to authentically impersonate him for three years. . However, following his dispute with his uncle, Pierre Guerre, over the family inheritance, Pansette was accused of being an impostor, ultimately leading to his execution. Concluding the case, the court declared Bertrande and the Guerre familyvictims in the trial. Unlike the participants of the case, Davis does not conform to the idea of Bertrande as a mere victim, but rather, an accomplice motivated by socioeconomic status. Critics often question whether Davis interpretations trespass the boundaries of a historian. Yet, in order to evaluate Davis as a historian,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The key passage for critics explicitly states Davis beliefs of Bertrande as an accomplice, But the obstinate and honorable Bertrande does not seem a woman so easily fooled, not even by a charmer like Pansette. By the time she had received him in her bed, she must have realized the difference; as any wife of Artigat would have agreed, there is no mistaking the touch of the man on the woman. Either by explicit or tacit agreement, she helped him become her husband (Davis, 44). The main argument is that Davis assumptions fail to take into account the ages of Bertrande and Martin during their marriage, as well as Bertrande s long abstinence as a possible reason for her memory failure. Yet, Davis arguments are far from imaginative, in fact, they are derived from the the thoughts of the French peasantry, including those of Judge Coras himself, She had shared her bed with the prisoner for more than three years, during which long interval it is not likely that the said de Rols would not have recognized him for a stranger... (Davis, 79). Contrary to the arguments of critics, Davis does not fail to demonstrate historical proof for her assumptions, as it is important for history to take into account the psychology of the
  • 12. Feminism One Of The Biggest Topics Today And Is Defined Feminism one of the biggest topics today and is defined as the public support of the rights of women on the basis of equality of the sexes. In fact, the main reason feminism is such a popular topic is because of how men were treated as the dominant gender . Back then, women were given specific roles by society to be housewives and only cook and take care of the children. The idea of feminism, however, did slowly develop until in 1848 after their oppression, when the first Women s conference was held in Seneca Falls, America. Ever since then, the amount of feminists and feminist activities around the world have increased a great amount. However, in this situation, Josephine and Vienne manage to knock out Serge before any real damage. This sends the message that a hero is not always needed for the damsel in distress. Given the colonial conditions that India had been through; these plans were particularly admirable for them. By 1970s, regulatory policy regime of India became gradually restrictive and inward oriented. For Nehru Period; Indian economic framework was summarized as follows (Narang, 2012): 1.State will provide straight financing starting with most critical industrial divisions 2.State will enhance balanced supply and demand in the household market. 3.State will eliminate unfair competition 4.State will secure best utilization methods of social assets. Nonetheless, these procurements were perceived as limitative that led to generation of handicaps on industrial improvements in order to achieve those goals. • 16. Argumentative Essay On Gene Therapy Every day, babies are born that will suffer from some sort of genetic disease. As science is progressing, those diagnosed with these diseases are approaching an option that could help relieve the symptoms and eventually cure their illness. One of the first clinical trial patients for this new medical discovery was Mr. Robert Calhoun. Mr. Calhoun was a 33 year old male who suffered from cystic fibrosis. Under direction of Dr. Konstan at University of Cleveland, a research team successfully administered the corrected geneto patient Robert Calhoun through a nasal drip. After a biopsy of the nasal tissue it was determined the protein administered to Mr. Calhoun had replaced the faulty gene. This allowed Robert to cure his cystic fibrosis and lead a more normal, healthy life ( Novel Gene Therapy1). While gene therapy offers many great benefits to the medical world, there are still some risks involved in receiving the treatment. Within everybody there are thousands of genes that determine who people are, what they look like, and how their body functions. When one is conceived, every one of the genes that make up who they will be are laid out within their DNA in a certain sequence. When these genes create an error, it can create genetic diseases such as sickle cell, cystic fibrosis, and sometimes cancer. Before, those diagnosed with these genetic diseases seemed to have no cure in sight. Now, with gene therapy they have hope. Gene therapy is the process of

  • 18. Anxiety Disorder And Social Anxiety Disorders Anxiety is considered as a common feature of daily living and is experienced by every individual in different ways. It generally has both physical and cognitive attributes which physically leads the body to increasing impairment and cognitively to an anticipation of threatening events or feelings of apprehension and fear. (Davey, 2016) Experiencing feelings of anxiety is quite natural and the resulting reaction as well, as they have evolved as adaptive responses that is essential to perform effectively in challenging situations. However, anxiety can often become so intense or attached to inappropriate events or moments that it becomes maladaptive and turns into a problem for the individual (LГ©pine , 2002). At this point an anxiety disorder may develop. These disorders have the effect of leading the individual to various long term behavioural, social and community concerns consisting of impaired family relationships, lack of success in academic life and other mental health disorders (AACAP Work Group on Quality Issues, 2007; as cited in Davey, 2016; p. 147) There are several types of anxiety disorders. However, in this essay I will particularly focus on social anxiety disorder and generalised anxiety disorder and, compare and contrast the treatment methods surrounding these two disorders. Many anxiety disorders usually start from early childhood (Clark, Rodgers, Caldwell, Power, Stansfeld, 2007). It is relatively normal for an individual to suffer from more than one
  • 19. Analysis Of The Film Gravity I want to start by recognizing that in my earlier film papers I have made the mistake of summarizing all of the science in each of the films from start to finish. By doing so my paper essentially became a summary of the film rather than an explanation of the science found within it. To avoid repeating these mistakes I would like to focus on a few scientific concepts that I found interesting in this film, Gravity. The first, and likely most obvious is the conceptof surviving in space. Second, the concept of floating freely in space. Third, the concept of decomposition in the zero gravity atmosphere of space. And fourth, the part of the movie where lieutenant Kowalski propels himself with a fire extinguisher. I believe that Isaac Newtons three laws can help me to explain these concepts. Gravity was a thrilling film that showed a situation in which astronauts were stranded in space without a spacecraft or any means of communication. The surviving astronauts had to fight for their lives in theoretically hardly survivable and unlivable conditions. The main dilemma, and theme of the entire film, was the destruction of the International Space Station(ISS) and most of the astronauts on board. Russia launched a missile into space to destroy one of their satellites. This turned into a problem when the launch was successful, but the target was missed and the mission failed. Debris was left spiraling through space at a rapid pace. Dr. Ryan Stone survived the destruction along with

Drinking is all over the television, the radio, and talked about in schools, public places, etc. Alcohol advertisements are more and more appealing to younger generations. If our youth is educated at a younger age, if schoolpolicies were stricter, and if clubs and bars cracked down on underage drinking the problem would not be as serious. Their reasons may differ, but it seems as though females are easily passed off as legal drinking age regardless of what their I.D. says. From my three years of personal experience in the club industry I realized many young females received drinks from the bartenders despite their age. Walking into clubs females usually don t even get carded as long as they are good looking they get the wristband. Clubs and bars should have females at the front greeting because that would eliminate underage drinking. Also, I.D scanners would help because there would no way of getting in with a fake I.D. If clubs and bars were stricter and had better tools to prevent underage drinking this problem would decrease rapidly. In conclusion, underage drinking affects should be taught at a younger age before the kids are exposed. • 21. Mental Health And Mental Depression Mental Health and SRM Magda is suffering from depression, or another mental illness that is like depression. She has not been feeling like her usual self, and no longer enjoys the things she use to enjoy. She also has anxiety when it comes to social situation. Magda lives in a country that does not recognize depression as a valid illness, and there is stigma she would have to deal with if she sought medical treatment. I will be using the Self Regulatory Model (SRM) and additional information to help explain why Magda has not sought help for her mental illness, and how she could use SRM to seek help. Before I begin, I would like to define what depression is and what depression is not. Depression is defined as feelings of sadness and/or a loss of interest in activities once enjoyed. (American Psychiatric Association, 2017). Depression is not just being sad for a day. To diagnose someone with depression an individual must have the symptoms related to depression for more than two weeks (American Psychiatric Association, 2017). Depression is not being able to enjoy or do the things you use to do. It is a valid illness. Now that I have defined what I mean by depression, I will get to my point. Mental illness is a controversial subject. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) (2015), 1in 5 adults in the USA suffer from some form of mental illness. That s roughly 40 million adults. You probably know someone who suffers from a mental illness, or you yourself

Many of us keep moving in the same direction but still stay where we are, till the time an external intervention changes the course of our movement. Leading a team that was working from different locations helped me improve my communication and leadership skills. The second project I worked on was a study project that had an objective of finding solutions to increase capacity of a deluge water system on Snorre Oil platform located on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. This project exposed me to the different stages of an EPCI (Engineering Procurement Construction and Installation) project. Along with learning the technicalities of the various disciplines in the industry, I have also learned about the Cost, Schedule and Management aspects of a multidisciplinary project. After her husband s unexpectedly death, she turned to writing. In defiance of her time, she wrote frank descriptions of women s sexual desires. She also usually set her stories in Louisiana. You hear many stories about how no one knew it was coming and they showed no signs. It is a hard pill to swallow when most of the time you realize that they probably showed countless amount of signs but it is that no one really paid attention to the signs. Suicide Note was written by Janice Mirikitani, it is about an Asian American girl who committed suicide. It is often said that she committed suicide for having a less than perfect grade point average but I think throughout the poem, it seems like something a little more hiding beneath the cover of this college student s death. The expansion of the political and economical power during the New kingdom, led to the devotion of resources to the religious architecture; numerous new temples were constructed while the pre existing temples were renovated. Individual Pharaohs endeavored to out do their ancestors, not only in the construction of their own mortuary temples, but also in the establishment of worship temples of their deities. Kings of this period abandoned the pyramid complexity of the earlier ages and constructed their tombs in the Valley of the Kings well away from their mortuary temples due to the increase of robbers; therefore a standardized plan became default for both the worship and mortuary temples. The turning point of the New Kingdom s architecture was during the reign of Akhenaten, which took place during the Amarna period. During this era, the sun god Aten became superior over all the gods, thus leading to the abolition of the former gods that caused Egypt to have a polytheistic religion. Traditional temples became neglected, whilst Aten temples of differing sharper construction emerged. Although none of the temples of this period survived due to the ravages of later kings, yet (image 7) portrays that the Amarna temples did not follow along the traditional footsteps of previous architecture, instead they were smaller in size, with sanctuaries open to the sun for the direct worship of Aten, with no doors and a large number of altars. During the reign that followed, of Amehotep III and Ramses II, the monotheistic religion returned and many noted changes took place. The tendency of huge royal statues and funerary temples were a common feature as well as the gradual yielding to columns with plant motifs and Osiride pillars, completely transformed the atmosphere of the temples interior. A complete alternation in the interiors of the great halls and courtyards of the temples resulted from the change of supports, columns. The most important functionality that it offers is that it can help create an out of band stateful TCP connection between the attacker and the database which can then help us emulate an actual scenario where the system is under attack. These are the various ways in which sqlmap gives us a way to protect and secure our database servers underlying the operation system of our web and mobile applications from a potential cyber security t. Reaver: Reaver implements a robust and practical brute force attack targeting a Wi Fi Protected Setup (WPS) enabled router. It uses all the permutations and combinations on 6 digit pins to obtain the passphrases out of it. Usage: Run reaver is used to test wireless penetration for Wi Fi enabled applications and or web servers. It can take seconds or hours based on the target network. It may vary based on the password length field as well as the pin configuration restrictions. Once we have the passphrases obtained by reaver for our use case and the time taken for doing so, we can evaluate the general design for the password security for our application and the amount of bounding restrictions we ask the user to take care of

Social Cognition And Interaction Influence On Society Social Cognition and Interaction While analyzing the impact of the interaction of self and the society we see that the self generally influences the society. This is done by actions of individuals which lead to the creation of groups, networks and organizations of people. On the other hand society also affects and molds an individual with its shared values and collective norms which helps in giving an individual its identity and a role in the society. An example of this type of interaction would be when a person moves to different locality, that individuals preference and lifestyle changes as per the norms and practices of the society and likewise if a certain behavior is followed by that person then people in the society also get influenced by that behavior. Further concepts of self, awareness and self schemas could be effectively used for self development. It is said that what we think of ourselves, is what we make out of ourselves. Hence self schema could lead to actions resulting in a state which we want ourselves to be. Generally if we create and idea of self and interact with others in the society, it gives an impression to the society about the way we think and the way we receive things from the society. Great leaders have a dream and confidence in them which is reflected in their actions and the interaction with the society. Hence it is important to be self aware and understand self very clearly. During this time the expectations for vehicle purchases were at an all time low due to the expectation of the consumer of not making enough wages to cover their financial need. The United States is one of major countries in the world that consume oil so it is only feasible that we are as country need to control our oil consumption and have less reliance in foreign nations. In order to do that the government must develop policies for reducing gasoline consumption and fuel economy regulations that manufacturers must adhere to. One policy that was put in effect is what economist calls the Gas Guzzler Tax . This tax levied an excise tax on passenger cars that have fuel economy below a certain level. The minimum tax is $1,000 on passenger cars that get below 22.5 mile per gallon (mpg), and any vehicle getting above that fuel economy is free of taxation. The maximum tax is $7,000 for any vehicle with a combined fuel economy rating below 12.5 mpg. (Austin,2003) While on the other hand there are benefits for owning clean vehicles. With the Clean Fuel Vehicle Tax Deduction consumer are able to deduct $2,000 off of the manufacturer s sticker price. The only stipulation was that the vehicle must operate under alternative fuels such as hydrogen, compressed natural gas, and electricity. Here is a chart in 2006 that shows how much the Gas Guzzler Tax and Hybrid Vehicle Tax Credit made that year. Crispr Cas9 Mediated Genomic Editing Techniques In Animal Cells Sarcinella, Cody 705, Review Paper Introduction Clustered regulatory interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR) and CRISPR associated protein 9 (Cas9) are an immune response evolved by bacteria and archea as an adaptive defense mechanism to invading DNA. (4) The CRISPR Cas9 system relies on the uptake of invading DNA fragments that are then inserted into CRISPR loci. (4) In the CRISPR loci, repeats are separated by nucleotide spacers which match and or composed of invading DNA.(4) New spacer DNA is incorporated by Cas1 and Cas2.(4) The CRISPR spacer loci then transcribe into short CRISPR RNAs (crRNA) which anneal to foreign nucleic acids in conjunction with complementary binding trans activating cr RNA(tracrRNA) to form a duplex which is then cleaved to provide a guiding RNA cr/tracr RNA hybrid.(4) the RNA hybrid acts as a guiding mechanism for Cas9 by complementary binding to the invading nucleotides.(4) Cas9 is an endonuclease that can cause a double stranded cleave in DNA(4) Cas9 guided with sgRNA then cleaves the foreign DNA resulting in double stranded breaks effectively disrupting and thereby removing a gene.(1)(2)(3)(4) After a ds break occurs cellular machinery attempts to fix the break with non homologous end joining in which cellular systems effectively sutures the broken ends of the DNA by recombining the remaining ends of DNA to once again produce a continuous strand.(4) This

There are two types of blooded organisms. The first type are warm blooded which are called endotherms and the second type are cold blooded which are called ectotherms. Endotherms are mainly organisms such as humans, mammals and birds. Ectotherms are mainly organisms such as reptiles, fish and insects. In terms of maintaining temperature , the difference between endotherms and ectotherms is that endotherms generates their own heat from within, whereas ectotherms changes its temperature with the environment. It attracts heat from the outside. The advantages of being an endotherm is that it has a stable body temperature which allows optimization of normal body functions such as metabolism, enzymes to work to a specific temperature. This ensures that regardless of the environmental conditions as long as the organism maintains it temperature homeostasis , it will still perform normal body functions at its optimum temperature. The disadvantage of being an ectotherm is that to maintain a stable body temperature requires a lot of energy. Endotherms make sure to maintain their high body temperature by burning calories to generate their own heat. If they don t have a high temperature, they won t burn as much calories therefore would have to survive on less food which will affect the growth rate of the organism. Homeostasis gets

Children Are The Future Of The World In today s society, children encounter many different troubles, and they struggle with things than most people actually don t notice, but who does a person refer to when they suspect something is troubling a child? Whose responsibility is it to help the child whenever there is a problem in need of addressing, and how would they go about solving the problem? Sometimes it can be a challenging task to figure out what can be troubling a child. Because children in modern society are exposed to and involved with so much more than past generations, it makes it difficult for adults to connect and understand what the children go through because they don t experience the same things that the child does on a daily basis. The youth today are the future of the world, which makes it a major priority for them to be provided with basic needs for living and also for them to be mentally and physically healthy, as well as keeping them happy during the time of their life where they should have very little responsibility and live carefree. Many children have a hard time when dealing with things troubling them and a harder time talking to someone about those things that are causing troubles with them. School Social Work deals with children and their families throughout the course of adolescent education. Children in today s society experience many troubles that can go unnoticed a majority of the time. Fortunately, when a child is showing strong signs of a problem, there are school social

  • 45. Reflection Of The EQ Radio 2a) My computational artifact represents the EQ Radio. Researchers from MIT s CSAIL have developed a device that can determine people s emotions by analyzing reflections in wireless signals. Using RF waves to measure heartbeat and breathing, researchers can figure out how you re feeling[1]. In my picture, the EQ Radio[4] can be seen bouncing wirelesssignals[5] off of the patient s body[5] and using reflected signals to deduce their heart rate, breathing patterns, and other factors that are symptomatic of certain emotions[4]. Unlike other emotiondetection systems, EQ Radio doesn t rely on typical emotional cues, like facial expressions, which are not always reliable. Instead, it works like this: The EQ Radio sends out a wireless signal that bounces off your body. The reflection measures not only your breathing, but also your heart rate. 2b)To create my computational artifact representing the EQ Radio, I used the program Microsoft Paint. First, I took an image of the EQ Radio on Google Images and copy and put it on a blank canvas[4]. Then, I found some images of the signals the EQ Radio uses and put those into the canvas as well[4]. Then, I drew arrows from each box to a text box where I explained how the signal contributes to the emotion reading. Lastly, used the pencil tool to draw the signals bouncing off of an image of a person from Google Images[5]. 2c) The EQ Radio is a machine designed to read your emotions based off of involuntary changes in your body s behavior,

Essay On My Brother Sam Is Dead War Is Never Right But somehow, fifty years later, I keep thinking that there might have been another way, besides war, to achieve the same end (Collier and Collier 211). The quote shows how there could possibly be another way to solve the British and Patriots argument. In James and Christopher Collier s historical fiction book, My Brother Sam Is Dead, the story takes place during the American Revolution which occurred in 1775. To many people in the book, both sides believe that war is always unfair. War could tear families or people apart or bring them together as a group to fight. The Patriots fight for their own freedom by revolting and creating the American Revolution. In the historical fiction novel, My Brother Sam Is Dead, there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both sides to Tim are bad in both ways. Finally, when Mr. Meeker did not allow Sam to take the Brown Bess to fight with, Sam stole the gun. Sam disobeyed his father and Tim tries to take it back. Tim kept on trying to persuade Sam to give the gun back to Mr. Meeker, but he keeps ignoring Tim s request. When Tim tries to steal the gun from Sam, Sam immediately found out and chased after Tim. When Sam caught up to Tim, Tim started to blackmail and said that he would shoot the gun at Sam if he got closer. Don t come any closer, Sam, or I ll shoot you (Collier and Collier 55). This shows that even war can tear the two brothers that love each other apart. Families can still be teared apart from any type of war. Another reason why the authors are against war is due to the clash of generations. During the American Revolution, Yale students would go to get weapons and they would join the war. The younger adults believe that they should join the war to fight for freedom. Yale students did rush away to get weapons and join the war in 1775 (Collier and Collier 214). These college students are sacrificing their lives to fight for their own freedom. On the other hand, the adults say that war is bad and that no one should fight. Grownups believe that it is not worth it to fight for their own freedom. Many people say that war is unfair or not worth it. I think men of common sense will prevail. Nobody wants rebellion except fools and hotheads (Collier and Collier 6). Mr.

One way we can do this is to help students develop good organization and note taking skills. Using graphic organizers is an easy and effective way to deliver information and demonstrate new techniques to students. Graphic organizers are also great tools that help students focus on what they are learning and also aid in learning the information. • 48. Equality s Dark Side in In Kurt Vonnegut s Harrison... Equality s Dark Side in In Kurt Vonnegut s Harrison Bergeron The goal of countless societies throughout human history has been to establish both complete freedom and absolute equality. However, this goal is, by its very nature, unachievable. These two ideal states cannot coexist in their most perfect forms. Also, the perfect forms of either freedom or equality represent total chaos or total oppression, respectively. In Kurt Vonneguts Harrison Bergeron, we see the consequences of sacrificing freedom for perfect equality. Vonnegut uses the story of this utopia gone wrong to demonstrate that a society in which total equality exists is not only oppressive, but also static and inefficient. He makes this point using his futuristic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the case of Harrison Bergeron, this is represented by Diana Moon Glampers. She is never portrayed as having any handicaps and must be assumed to have a level of intelligence above that of Hazel, who represents what this society calls normal, to carry out her job. Societal changes do not happen over night. If people s freedom were taken away in one fell swoop they would fight it. Instead, oppression is a series of small losses of freedom. It s like the old analogy of a frog and boiling water. If you drop a frog in boiling water, he jumps out, on the contrary, if you put a frog in cool water and slowly raise it to boiling, he boils to death. This process is shown in the story by the fact that All this equality was due to the 211th, 212th, and 213th Amendments to the Constitution (243). Given that this story was written in 1961, is set in 2081, and is the author s prediction for the future of his society, we can assume that this process of making everyone equal through oppression took place over a 120 year period. Some would argue that, although we re not to this level of oppression yet, we re well on our way with institutions such as affirmative action. Whereas equality is sometimes the will of the governed people, this is often not the case. People like to be rewarded for doing things that are above and beyond average. If they can do a better job and make more money than next person, they believe they should be allowed to. Even the below average of
