Brain Case Work Case Study
Case Study One: Anne
During the first case study, Anne uses many various brain areas and structures. I chose to focus on the
Occipital Lobe, the Hypothalamus, and the Frontal Lobe. The Occipital Lobe is used when Anne looks
outside and at the easel she is painting on. She must see the objects she is replicating as well as where
she is painting. Another brain area that Anne uses while painting is the Hypothalamus. This brain
structure motivates her to paint what she sees in her garden. The last brain area that I want to reference
is the Frontal Lobe. Anne s Frontal Lobe allows her to move her body from the window, to the easel,
and her hand from the paint, to the canvas.

The Authority Of Faith In Cormac Mccarthy
Despite his emphasis on the father s unrestricted love for his son, Cormac McCarthy persistently
reminds the reader of the novel s dire surroundings through his introduction of malevolent characters,
and the use of a disheartened setting thus conveying his bleak suspense for the future of civilization
and cracking light on humanity s naive nature. The man, ( Wilson) as McCarthy like to call our
mysterious fellow in the book. McCarthy never reviles his full name to anyone.Unqualified maternal
love between father and son. The theme among a son and father is appearing, altruistic as together the
characters the role of conqueror. Humanity survival, hope the encouragement of the moral and wicked,
the authority of faith can be seen throughout the novel in different characters presentations. While
McCarthy s novels share Dewey s broadly anti supernatural and anti ecclesiastical commitments, there
are some areas of divergence between the two that allow us to reflect critically on the distinction
between religion and the religious. ( Metcalf) Survival was used the father and son to stay alive. The
fire in the road is also very significant because deprived of it the boy and his father would
undoubtedly have frozen to death. The fire signifies refinement and triumph.
The novel offerings the bibliophiles with measures that characterize the actions that make unpredicted
devastation so dangerous and violent. Representative criticism works from a subjective basis, it is
used to determine and grasp the philosophies of common truths memoranda through literary work.
The perfect verities and communications are determined by identifying patterns like character types,
narratives, settings, symbols. The narrative account associates with representative criticism is the
characters of a father and his young minor to compress the notions of representative criticism.
McCarthy shows the novel by setting the passage of a death defying voyage through a post
apocalyptic badlands of America. His father and his son chase a long and challenging expedition as
they seek out shelter in the southern coast of America to avoid the in the near future the winter and
death. The novel is full of treacherous come across with thieves, man eaters, and

Perfection Vs Humanity
This would be a good opportunity for me to learn about the different fields I can specialize in to
consider which path to follow.
Humanity vs. Perfection: A Study of Two Sonnets
Loving someone with your heart and loving someone with your mind are two very different kinds of
love. bgt correlates to how the speakers of Sonnet 18 and 130 describe their mistresses (the one they
love or at least hold in high regard). Sonnet 18 uses the sonnet to describe his mistress s beauty on a
superficial level and to at the end of the sonnet, reassure himself and others that his sonnet will be
preserved throughout time without being forgotten nor destroyed. He immortalizes both his sonnet and
the mistress s beauty he speaks of. Sonnet 18 s speaker loves ... Show more content on

He also attracts readers towards admiring his mistress when comparing her to a summer s day because
he knows the high value a lot of viewers hold for a perfect summer s day. When a person thinks of a
summer s day, the shining sun, scorching heat, blooming flowers and the gentle winds generally come
to mind. The speaker is clever in such a way that he informs the viewers that his mistress is above a
summer s day and that she is more lovely and temperate than a summer s day. As everyone knows,
eventually summer ends and every fair from fair sometime declines but not his mistress. His mistress s
eternal summer shall not fade and will never lose possession of that fair thou ow st . He spins a tale
about his mistress that her beauty will remain constant and maybe, increase throughout the trials of
time, when in eternal lines to time thou grow st . His mistress will be immortalized throughout human
time and because she is immortalized, this sonnet will also be immortalized. The speaker knows that
this poem will be eternal so long as men can breathe or eyes can see because the beauty being
described in this sonnet will forever, be remembered. Sonnet 18 s speaker uses this sonnet to do two
things: make sure his mistress is honored forever and make sure this sonnet is honored along with his

The Expansion Of Modernity By Ferdinand T ÓŚ Nnies
Most theorists agree that the expansion of modernity has resulted in the decline in the natural will
based type of community, and has paved the way for less of a need for the Gemeinschaft type of
society and the rise the Gesellschaft association, in which the individuals engage in impersonal and
contractual arrangements, rather than a meaningful, emotionally invested relationship with others.
Modernity is intrinsically disorderly because it encourages individuals to experiment, to hope, to
gamble, and to be ambitious. Its social life lacks the predictability and the certainties that characterize
societies governed by tradition. Individual creativity is exchanged for the security of calculable social
obligations and the sense of belonging that emanate from fixed social bonds (Savage and Warde,
1993, p.150). Essentially, individuals give up a sense of belonging in order to experience what that
have not, and could not in a traditional community. They give up the security of being a part of a
group in order to gain individual creativity.
THEORIES
Ferdinand Tӧnnies is seen as the theorist with the most direct influence over later sociological work
and communities. He wanted to eliminate the spatial contexts and superiority of neither village nor
city life when analyzing communities, in attempt to identify the main features and quality of each way
of life. He coined the terms Gemeinschaft and Gesellschaft, which would later be used by one of the
founders of modern sociology, Max

Ghazan Khan Research Paper
When Mahmud Ghazan, the seventh ruler of the Mongol Empire s Ilkhanate division, came to power
after his father Arghun, the economic state of Iran was deteriorating, the value of currency was
decreasing and there was not enough wealth available for the government to rule over the country. In
order to resolve this matter, Ghazan Khan reformed many elements of the Ilkhanate such as defining
Islam as the state religion, land grants, standardizing currency and fiscal policy. This paper is an
attempt to analyze the reforms of the Ilkhanid ruler Ghazan Khan and assess their effectiveness.
Arghun was a fanatic Buddhist and because of his interest in this religion, Buddhism got a chance to
spread all around Iran and allowed buddhists to gain power. Although Ghazan was baptized and raised
as a Christian, he was being trained by a buddhist monk who introduced him to buddhism and made
him choose this religion. However, once Ghazan became the sovereign, he converted into Islam under
the influence of Amir Nawruz, chose the Arabic name of Mahmud and changed the state religion into
Islam. Some of Ghazan s acts and reforms had a definite Muslim motive behind ... Show more content

Tabriz. Ghazan s reform had a huge positive impact on the development of agriculture such that Hamd
Allah Qazvini in his factual description about the revival of agriculture speaks of rich harvests, low
prices, an abundance of foodstuffs, the export of corn and fruit and so on. He also built many dams

Liberty State Park Research Paper
Today, Liberty State Park serves an important role in the New York Harbor area. As the railroads and
industry started to drop the land was abandoned and became an empty dump site. Land with decaying
buildings, tracks and piles of debris was transformed into a modern urban state park. The park was
formally opened on Flag Day, June 14, 1976, as New Jersey s bicentennial gift to the nation. Most of
the 1,122 acre park is open space with about 300 acres made for public recreation. On July 30, 1916,
an explosion, with the force of a 5.5 magnitude earthquake that reportedly was felt as far away as
Maryland, moved Jersey City, New Jersey. Glass windows in buildings in Manhattan and Brooklyn
were blown out, the Brooklyn Bridge shook and the nearby Statue of Liberty was hit with shrapnel. At
first, investigators believed the catastrophe was an accident, but later investigations would show the
disaster an act of sabotage by the Germans, who wanted to stop deliveries of ammunition to Allied
forces in World War I. Two years after the start of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

there was an estimated $20 million in damage. That was the equivalent of $500 million today in

William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily and Susan Glaspell s...
The human mind is a fragile thing. It can be both strengthen and broken down easily. Actions and even
words can be the thing to kill a person mentally. Physically harming or locking away a person can lead
to mental and bodily withdrawal. Harming a person with words can leave lasting effects and always
stay within a person s psyche. Oppressing and locking away a person s true nature or desires can cause
someone to act in way that he or she has never behaved before. When done by a loved one, it can
affect a person even more. In William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily and Susan Glaspell s Trifles , two

Microsoft s Partnership with UNHCR Pro Bono Publico?
Let me first provide the landscape of this case study by highlighting that the evolution of the
partnership between the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the software
giant Microsoft Corporation facilitated a strategic and mutually beneficial partnership, as well as
shaping the definition today of good corporate social responsibility. The corporate social responsibility

illustrated an alliance about mutual humanitarian components, reputation and provided stated outcome

October 29th 2014 The images of the Jewish people within are represented through the tainting of

Drama Is Not Just Composed By The Actors Essay
Drama is not just consisting by the actors dialogue and movements; there is also a very special consist
part is chorus. Chorus usually plays a pretty important role in drama, and it also has different functions
in different storyline, and promotes the process of the story. Its location is irreplaceable. This paper
will take the scripts, which are Lysistrata (Aritophanes) and Despatch (Angie Farrow, 2015) as the

device of the chorus functions. The way to help the story of the play telling by chorus and allow the
narrative to unfold will be discussed in this paper, too.
The role of the chorus in the drama is just like a novel or a story s narrator. In the case of the chorus
does not involve the using of lines of actors, it tells a story to the audience and provide some
information to them. For example, it tells the narrative structure of the drama, and succinct
information or comments. Chorus connects the relationship between the audience and the actors, and
became an intermediary agent between drama and the audience. The audience through the chorus to

Classical And Human Relations Perspective
Classical perspective and human relations perspective are two approaches I and fellow school leaders
can use to analyze, and solve problems we might encounter on the job. As a school leader, I would
lead using principles from the human relations perspective, because it cultivates an environment of
shared leadership and collaboration. The classical organizational perspective in my opinion is too rigid
and tradtional. According to Owen s and Valensky, the classical perspective principle focuses on
hierarchy, unity of command, and span of control. A school leader who puts value on classical
perspective overall believes in a structured chain of command, and that they have the authority and
responsibility of everything at school. Our school system is structured with classical principles, and
hierarchy levels. These are things we can t really control. However, we can have a choice in the way
we decide to lead our school. I have personally seen how a top down type of school management
philosophy has hurt school culture and performance in a negative way. Our world is changing and
with this leadership needs to change. We live in an era where collaboration is highly valued. The
principles of the human relations perspective I believe are most useful in leading the schools of today.
These principles foster a collaborative and transformative school environment. Owens and Valensky
reported that the human relations perspective focuses on the individuals and motivation to

The Pros And Cons Of Hypnosis
Have you ever wondered if hypnosis works on curing people with illnesses? Some people must be
asking how a hypnosis that we watch on television and in magic show can help with curing illnesses?
Does swinging a pocket watch in front of someone s eyes until they fall asleep or be in a state of
unconscious mind, could help in improving health condition? The answer is yes! Since hypnosis now
is very popular as alternative medical treatment and it has been proven by scientific studies, people are
looking forward to try this natural type of healing instead of having conventional treatment. Medical
experts started to use hypnotherapy as one of the treatment in the medical fields around the nineteenth
century. Based on Roy Hunter,Ph.D. from Alpha University and California University for life
experience, he defined hypnosis as a natural state of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is due to the fact that a lot of money could be save since this technique does not require any

practitioners and patients to take advantage of the mind body connection to foster healing.
Furthermore, by focusing on their healing process through the power of mind, it may remove
psychological obstacles and strengthen their confidence to get better. It has been proven that hypnosis
treatment helps patient undergo surgery smoothly. A Ph.D. psychologist named Guy H. Montgomery
mentioned that patients who were hypnotized required less of the sedative propofol and analgesic
lidocaine during surgery. Patients may practice the treatment before going into any surgery procedure
to train their mind to focus on the good outcome. For example, patients that belief and set their mind

The Creation Of Islam Throughout Ad 662
The creation of Islam in AD 662 spread very widely within a century and brought on a whole cultural
phenomenon . Muslims contribute to knowledge through the creation and addition of Arabic numerals,
positional notation, algebra, calculations in astronomy, medical analyses, and new poetry techniques.
Islam contributions to design are distinctive, richly colorful, and highly imaginative. (Newton 30) The
militant Arabs took over Syria, and then took over Egypt in AD 640. Sixty years later they spread to
the south Mediterranean coast, reaching the Atlantic. Through similar interests of conquest, the Arabs
were drawn into Spain. The Muslims traveled across the Strait of Gibraltar in AD 711. Despite
resistance from southern regions, they conquered successfully. (Jellicoe 40) By AD 712, Muslims
occupied Seville and Cordoba. The Muslim part of Spain stands independently and survives for eight
centuries. (Newton 31) Muslims arrive in Spain and influence regions knowledgably, architecturally
and through use of the land. Despite the later Spanish Christian revival, areas in the South of the
peninsula, Cordoba and Seville still contain layered Islamic attributes. The space extending past the
architecture is an opportunity that engages so many aspects. Architecture must go beyond architecture
and rewrite its definition to embrace the challenges of society, responding with a new critical
discourse on social and technical levels (Serageldin 11 12). Muslims were able to

U.s. Foreign Policy Approaches
The United States (U.S.) uses two approaches to their foreign policy. The first approach is realism.
This viewpoint stresses that the principal actors, states, will pursue their own interests in an anarchical
world. States will try to establish a balance of power that restrains aggressive states from dominating
weaker ones. The second approach is idealism. This view stresses that states should transform the
system into a new international order where peace can prevail. This approach emphases the spread of
democracy across the world and the creation of international institutions. Realism and idealism
provides an explanation to how U.S. foreign policy has developed since World War Two (WWII),
identifies which influential factors play a role in both foreign policy approaches, and determines
which view has best served the pursuit of national interests. The realist and idealist approaches are
important in explaining the swinging pendulum path American foreign policy took since WWII. Over
the past seventy years, U.S. foreign policy switches between these two approaches. After WWII
ended, idealistic U.S. policymakers believed that cooperation between the United States and Soviet
Union would transform the world to a more cooperative and peaceful one. This idealistic belief was
quickly demolished by the Soviet expansions in Turkey and Greece and the destruction of the hopes of
U.S. Soviet cooperation after WWII. So, U.S. policymakers switched to a realist approach in a

The Celsus Ephesus Library
In the modern day Turkey, wide road of Marble slopes down to Celsus Ephesus Library, one of the
ancient world libraries. In Ephesus, the library is one of the most beautiful structures. Construction of
the building took place between 117AD and 135AD (Laale, 76). Vitruoya, a Roman architect designed
the structure. The library was to memorize Celsus Polemeanus, a Roman senator, province of Asia
General Governor. It was Julius Aquila Celsus son initiative. Specifically Celsus loved books. The
design of the library takes the form of Roman architecture (Francis, Jarzombek, Prakash, 65). Celsus
grave was under the ground floor inside a tomb of marble and in a lead container. The grave was
across the entrance and over it was the Athena statue. This is because Athena was wisdom goddess. A
significant element about the building is the storage of manuscript scrolls. They manuscripts scrolls
were put in cupboards in the walls niches. Behind bookcase were double walls to prevent the scrolls
from extreme humidity and temperature. The library had a capacity of over 12000 scrolls (Foss, 78).
The other main reason for the library was as a monument for Celsus.
According to Foss, (119) Celsus library was the third wealthiest library in the ancient period after
Pergamum and Alexandra. The structure was made of perfect marble and bedecked with figures of
Nike, garlands in relief, Eros and rosettes (Laale, 98). The building shows the attributes of Emperor

Controlling the Uncontrollable in 1984
Controlling the Uncontrollable in 1984 Jim Rohn once said It is the set of the sails, not the direction of
the wind that determines which way we will go . He was implying that you can get through anything
that is in your way and achieve what you set out to achieve. But this quote can relate to the system of
control in 1984 if you read it in the exact opposite way. Take the wind to be natural human instincts,
and with the ease it takes to literally change the direction of a sail, the party redirects those instincts to
serve a purpose and help them achieve their goal. Moreover, the government is aiming for complete
control but they realize that humans have tendencies that can t be completely destroyed. In order to

for hardly a week passed in which The Times did not carry a paragraph describing how some
eavesdropping little sneak child hero was the phrase generally used had overheard some
compromising remark and denounced its parents to the Thought Police. The party took the rebellious
ways of children, which is something that cannot be completely eradicated, and twisted it in there
favor to achieve their ultimate goal. Another thing the party needed to keep in check if they wished to
have full control was the way human interact and feel about each other. Specifically emotional
connections between people. More often then not, sex is an act of love and therefore it was something
that the party needed to control. They only wanted people to have sex if they were attempting to

Richard Gatling Gun Research Paper
In 1862 Dr. Richard Gatling invented and patented the original six barrel, .58 caliber Gatling gun that
fired up to 300 rounds per minute (McNab). The Gatling Gun became just the beginning, however, as
it would lead to world renowned inventions in the military and change war forever. Dr. Richard
Gatling grew up on a small farm in South Carolina, working with his dad on their small farm, making
ends meet. In his earlier years, he caught a bad case of smallpox and almost died in 1846 (Silvia). His
encounter with the disease sparked his interest in medicine and later in life he went on to study
medicine in college and he became a more modern day physician at the time (Silvia). He practiced

Iliad Gender Roles
Trisha Yearwood said, What s meant to be will always find a way. ; does this statement hold true? The
Iliad, by Homer, and Destino, by Walt Disney and Salvador Dali are similar because the curious girl in
Destino and Helen in The Iliad both choose a partner from many options, there are stereotypical
gender roles present, and there are symbols of hope used.
In both The Iliad and Destino the idea of love and sacrifice is very common. Helen chooses multiple
guys to be her partner and doesn t find the right one until she meets Menelaus and they get married.

In The Iliad, the birds represent the armies of men and how there are no strict formations in the army.
The Spartans and Trojans showed no specific way of formation when fighting, which shows similarity
to birds because they do not have a distinct formation when flying. Helen and her husband are
separated when she is kidnapped, and they send an army to save her. The Spartans and Trojans fight
an entire war to save Helen, so her and her husband can be reunited. Similarly, in Destino there is a
wall that seperated the man and the girl and they couldn t be with each other. The girl released a flock
of birds and they flew to the man behind the all. They then flew out of an exit where the girl and the
man found each other. This is similar to The Iliad because the army finds Helen and she reunites with
Menelaus. The birds symbolize hope and they lead two people in love back to each

T. E Lawrence Research Paper
T.E. Lawrence
Thomas Edward Lawrence was one of the few impactful soldiers and scholars of World War I.
Lawrence, a British military officer, had many well known critical achievements in the war, known to
the world around us. As he overcame bullets shot his way, shrapnel flying over his head, and the
numerous casualties of war, Lawrence made a momentous impact on World War I by helping the
Arabs revolt against the Ottoman Empire and by doing so, he impacted World War I. T.E. Lawrence

In 1919, on behalf of the Arab delegation, Lawrence travelled to the Paris Peach conference.
Lawrence observed that several delegations ignored the Arabs; therefore the Arabs could not become a
self governing state. This brought great disappointment to T.E. Lawrence, but he could not do
anything about it. In the late 1920s, Winston Churchill hired Thomas Lawrence as an advisor in the
Colonial office. Then Thomas Lawrence retired from the army and wrote a famous memoir regarding
his experiences, The Seven Pillars of Wisdom. The memoir would not be published until 1926.
Lawrence slowly became popular and a well known celebrity. Part of the reason he was popular was
because of Lowell Thomas, who supported Lawrence s views. After a few years in retirement
Lawrence returned to the British army as a pilot for thirteen years. Lawrence did not appreciate the
fame, so he took pseudonyms when he rejoined the army. Examples of these pseudonyms were
Thomas Edward Shaw and John Hume Ross. After serving on various missions, Lawrence returned
back to retirement. Sadly, T.E. Lawrence got into an accident while speeding back from the post office

Portrait Head Of Caligula Analysis
Portrait Head of Caligula
This bust of Emperor Caligula, was thought to have been made somewhere within Asia Minor, around
the year 40 AD. There is no known record of who sculpted this bust, and no accurate record of who it
was made for or why it was made. It was sculpted entirely out of marble.
After Caligula was murdered by his guards in 41 AD, almost all recorded statues and portraits of him
were destroyed, as well as a lot of writings that were done about him. This led to modern day
historians having to use later historians writings about him, which has led to possible inaccuracies and

rebuilding the pantheon, and also the construction of the temple of Venus and Roma. Hadrian was also
noticeably philhellene in his tastes, which explains well his desire to make Greece the cultural capital

After Emperor Trajan died in 117 AD, Hadrian quickly secured legitimacy to his claim to power

cannot afford to hold onto the traumas and wrongs that have been committed unto them. At the same
time, how can the world ask people who have been tortured, abused, systematically raped, and their

It works to create a positive peace through a transformation of conflict. In 1992, United Nations
secretary General Boutros Ghali released his report titled An Agenda for Peace. This document
proposed peace building as Action to identify and solidify peace in order to avoid relapse into conflict,
(Boutros Ghali 11). While two sides are still in conflict, there is not a chance for communication
between sides. Until violent conflict ceases, the two parties will continue to dehumanize one another
and decrease the ability to understand one another. However, conflicts cannot always resolve
themselves and outside intervention is sometimes needed to avoid a cycle of revenge, which can be a
result. The problem is a well known bias in human perception, whereby we inflate the value of the
wrongs we suffer, and minimize the value of those we ourselves inflict. (Santa Barbara 179). Luckily,
there are nations such as Canada, with politicians like Lloyd Axworthy, who created the Canadian
peace building initiative in 1996. The initiative suggested a concern for the multidimensional and
integrated causes of civil war and thus acknowledged the need to address the economic, social, and
political aspects of reconstruction and reconciliation (Keating 171). Michael R. Marrus argues that
there are four contexts that need to be addressed when trying to develop a strategy for reconciliation.
These are political, legal, material, and cultural. These different areas of concern

Disorders in Hawethornes The Birthmark Essay
In Nathaniel Hawthorne s story The Birthmark you find a couple fairly prevalent disorders. Although
psychology was as of yet not existence, Hawthorne describes them quite well. Alymer suffered from
an obsessive compulsive personality disorder, while his actions caused Georgiana to develop a body
dysmorphic disorder. Both of which attributed to the eventual demise of Georgiana.
Alymer is an older scientist who marries a beautiful woman much younger then himself. Even though
Alymer finds his young bride beautiful, he still says that she is marked. Upon Georgiana s left cheek is
a birthmark. The birthmark is small, red, and in the shape of a hand. Alymer believes that this mark
takes away from her beauty; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That could be attributed to Hawthorne s background, and the era in which this story was written. Other
qualities which he exhibits are perfectionism, excessive devotion to work, and miserliness toward
others.
Alymer first shows his perfectionism when he tells Georgiana that she quot;came so nearly perfect,
and calls the birthmark, a visible mark of earthly imperfection. (Hawthorne 306) He wishes to have
the perfect wife. And Georgiana is young and beautiful. But she has her birthmark which disturbs
Alymer greatly. After giving the liquid to his wife, Alymer exclaims, [ . . . ] You are perfect!
(Hawthorne 316) Another sign that he was a perfectionist was the fact he kept such a detailed record
of his work over the years. It is not the fact that the books themselves exist, but that Alymer was not
truly satisfied with his work:
[. . .] she could not [help] but observe that his most splendid successes were almost invariably failures,
if compared with the ideal at which he aimed. His brightest diamonds were the merest pebbles, [ . . . ].
(Hawthorne 313)
The second attribute of obsessive compulsive personality disorder that Alymer displays is excessive
working. Since he is such a perfectionist in his science, it s obvious that he spends the majority of his
time in his lab. This doesn t leave much time for a social life. Because Alymer is preoccupied with
work, this causes him to be miserly toward

The LBC Play
The LBC event I attended this weekend was, the play The Boy Who Loved Monsters and The Girl

that made a lot of sense to the more adult crowd.

CarlosCruz Miss Mcelligot ERWC period 16,May2016 T Mobile vs AT T T Mobile is better than AT T
because of network and cost reasons. My claim is supported with facts from many articles and
personal experience. It is preferable because of its nationwide coverage, plans, benefits, and prices. T
Mobile offers sometimes offers the same plan or more valuable plan for a cheaper price. T Mobile also
has plans or benefits AT T does not offer or have. T Mobile is preferred over AT T because they have
the nations largest 4G LTE network, the fastest nation wide network as I read on (tmonews.com). Also
in the article (gottabemobile.com) T Mobile offers are a lot better than AT T s offers different plans,
different payment plans, and offers you cants resist. T Mobile has a lot of offers like trades and then
you just pay the difference, they also have jump Wich allows people to switch phones or upgrade at
anytime. These offers get the customers attention and a lot of other people s attention. ... Show more

The Notebook By Rachel Nelson Analysis
Allison Nelson (Allie), in her younger years is described as artistic and energetic. Throughout the
entire book (The Notebook) many characteristics are revealed about her. A bedroom for her would
have to be vibrant and full of life just like her. Growing up with money, she is very classy so the room
would have to reflect that. She s an easy to predict person, plotting the perfect room for her can easily
be done. The walls would have to be a beautiful, light pastel color, nothing bright or absurd to offset
the class of the room. A color that s elegant and soft such as a powder pink. On the walls there would
be artwork. Paintings she had done or that she found astonishing. Famous artworks would plaster the
pastel walls. Hanging from the ceiling

( Metcalf) Survival was used the father and son to stay alive. The fire in the road is also very significant because deprived of it the boy and his father would undoubtedly have frozen to death. The fire signifies refinement and triumph. The novel offerings the bibliophiles with measures that characterize the actions that make unpredicted devastation so dangerous and violent. • 5. The Expansion Of Modernity By Ferdinand T ÓŚ Nnies Most theorists agree that the expansion of modernity has resulted in the decline in the natural will based type of community, and has paved the way for less of a need for the Gemeinschaft type of society and the rise the Gesellschaft association, in which the individuals engage in impersonal and contractual arrangements, rather than a meaningful, emotionally invested relationship with others. Modernity is intrinsically disorderly because it encourages individuals to experiment, to hope, to gamble, and to be ambitious. Its social life lacks the predictability and the certainties that characterize societies governed by tradition. Individual creativity is exchanged for the security of calculable social obligations and the sense of belonging that emanate from fixed social bonds (Savage and Warde, 1993, p.150). Essentially, individuals give up a sense of belonging in order to experience what that have not, and could not in a traditional community. They give up the security of being a part of a group in order to gain individual creativity. THEORIES Ferdinand Tӧnnies is seen as the theorist with the most direct influence over later sociological work and communities. He wanted to eliminate the spatial contexts and superiority of neither village nor city life when analyzing communities, in attempt to identify the main features and quality of each way of life. He coined the terms Gemeinschaft and Gesellschaft, which would later be used by one of the founders of modern sociology, Max ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Classical And Human Relations Perspective Classical perspective and human relations perspective are two approaches I and fellow school leaders can use to analyze, and solve problems we might encounter on the job. As a school leader, I would lead using principles from the human relations perspective, because it cultivates an environment of shared leadership and collaboration. The classical organizational perspective in my opinion is too rigid and tradtional. According to Owen s and Valensky, the classical perspective principle focuses on hierarchy, unity of command, and span of control. A school leader who puts value on classical perspective overall believes in a structured chain of command, and that they have the authority and responsibility of everything at school. Our school system is structured with classical principles, and hierarchy levels. These are things we can t really control. However, we can have a choice in the way we decide to lead our school. I have personally seen how a top down type of school management philosophy has hurt school culture and performance in a negative way. Our world is changing and with this leadership needs to change. We live in an era where collaboration is highly valued. The principles of the human relations perspective I believe are most useful in leading the schools of today. Muslims contribute to knowledge through the creation and addition of Arabic numerals, positional notation, algebra, calculations in astronomy, medical analyses, and new poetry techniques. Islam contributions to design are distinctive, richly colorful, and highly imaginative. (Newton 30) The militant Arabs took over Syria, and then took over Egypt in AD 640. Sixty years later they spread to the south Mediterranean coast, reaching the Atlantic. Through similar interests of conquest, the Arabs were drawn into Spain. The Muslims traveled across the Strait of Gibraltar in AD 711. Despite resistance from southern regions, they conquered successfully. (Jellicoe 40) By AD 712, Muslims occupied Seville and Cordoba. The Muslim part of Spain stands independently and survives for eight centuries. (Newton 31) Muslims arrive in Spain and influence regions knowledgably, architecturally and through use of the land. Despite the later Spanish Christian revival, areas in the South of the peninsula, Cordoba and Seville still contain layered Islamic attributes. • 27. U.s. Foreign Policy Approaches The United States (U.S.) uses two approaches to their foreign policy. The first approach is realism. This viewpoint stresses that the principal actors, states, will pursue their own interests in an anarchical world. States will try to establish a balance of power that restrains aggressive states from dominating weaker ones. The second approach is idealism. This view stresses that states should transform the system into a new international order where peace can prevail. This approach emphases the spread of democracy across the world and the creation of international institutions. Realism and idealism provides an explanation to how U.S. foreign policy has developed since World War Two (WWII), identifies which influential factors play a role in both foreign policy approaches, and determines which view has best served the pursuit of national interests. The realist and idealist approaches are important in explaining the swinging pendulum path American foreign policy took since WWII. Over the past seventy years, U.S. foreign policy switches between these two approaches. After WWII ended, idealistic U.S. policymakers believed that cooperation between the United States and Soviet Union would transform the world to a more cooperative and peaceful one. This idealistic belief was quickly demolished by the Soviet expansions in Turkey and Greece and the destruction of the hopes of U.S. Soviet cooperation after WWII. So, U.S. policymakers switched to a realist approach in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They manuscripts scrolls were put in cupboards in the walls niches. Behind bookcase were double walls to prevent the scrolls from extreme humidity and temperature. The library had a capacity of over 12000 scrolls (Foss, 78). The other main reason for the library was as a monument for Celsus. According to Foss, (119) Celsus library was the third wealthiest library in the ancient period after Pergamum and Alexandra. But this quote can relate to the system of control in 1984 if you read it in the exact opposite way. Take the wind to be natural human instincts, and with the ease it takes to literally change the direction of a sail, the party redirects those instincts to serve a purpose and help them achieve their goal. The party took the rebellious ways of children, which is something that cannot be completely eradicated, and twisted it in there favor to achieve their ultimate goal. Another thing the party needed to keep in check if they wished to have full control was the way human interact and feel about each other. Specifically emotional connections between people. More often then not, sex is an act of love and therefore it was something that the party needed to control. While two sides are still in conflict, there is not a chance for communication between sides. Until violent conflict ceases, the two parties will continue to dehumanize one another and decrease the ability to understand one another. However, conflicts cannot always resolve themselves and outside intervention is sometimes needed to avoid a cycle of revenge, which can be a result. The problem is a well known bias in human perception, whereby we inflate the value of the wrongs we suffer, and minimize the value of those we ourselves inflict. (Santa Barbara 179).
