Crucial Issues In Our World
Since time immemorial, humans have been helping each other in hard situations. There is a famous
saying from Gandhi, who says: The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of
others. Nowadays, it is one of the most crucial issues in our world, so we can see a vast number of
charities with various purposes everywhere. For instance, some of them are for fighting against cancer
or other illnesses, some for helping hungry and homeless people, and above all, war victims. There are
different opinions on the best way to apply this worthy cause. To put this subject into perspective,
perhaps it would be better to look objectively at two major ideas on this contentious matter.
On the one hand, some people believe that charity begins

Redbox SWOT Analyisis
Negative change in contracts with movie studios (price; discontinue) Companies like Netflix that have
been in the movie streaming industry for many years, and have a large portion of the market for
streaming movies make it difficult to others to enter into the online movie rental industry. Netflix has
already established a large library of movies and TV shows available for its members. It would take
Redbox a number of years and resources in order to catch up with the infrastructure that Netflix
already has available and ready for the consumer right now. Redbox would need to analize the
opportunity cost of going into a new market or staying and investing in the current kiosks market and

According to Digital Entertainment Group; Think video streaming, from services such as Amazon and
Netflix, is killing physical discs? Not quite yet, Blu ray sales ere 28.5 percent higher in the first
quarter of this year than a year ago (DEG 2013). Thus, as the Blu ray player is a compliment to
physical DVD s, and the Blu ray player sales are growing, it is apparent that consumers demand for
the physical DVD still exist. Consumer Reports Stated that:
Retail spending on discs remained strong, indicating that physical and digital formats will continue to
coexist in the marketplace. While overall disc unit sales were down 6 percent form the previous year,
sales of movies and TV shows on Blu ray continued to offset the decline in DVD sales. Sales of Blu
ray disc grew by 7 percent and accounted for 20 percent of total disc sales, up from 18 percent the
previous year (Consumer Report 2013)
For now, Redbox is in a position to fulfill the demands of the consumer, however Redbox must keep a
vigilant eye on the trends of the consumer as the market shifts from physical to digital movie rentals.

Analysis Of Three Days
Three Days
You have exactly three days, the scary Neptunian said. George Buckner turned off his 40 TV in shock.
According to the news report, Neptunians, the people of Neptune, have launched a missile that is
going to hit Earth in exactly 72 hours, or three days. If what the Neptunians say is true, then they
launched the missile because they want to destroy the Earth. They say that this is because pollution
from the Earth has reached their planet, and it is causing global warming on Neptune. George knows
that once his grandfather sees this, he will give George another one of his rants, probably somewhat
like this:
75 years ago, back in 2216, you could look up, and actually see blue sky, not grey clouds from
pollution. Now all you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alex said that he was having a party soon, and he was wondering if George would like to come. Deep
down, George knew that he had no chance at stopping the missile, so he might as well live it up for
possibly the last three days of his life.
George went over to Alex s house and found out that almost everyone there was in the same boat as
him. They saw the notice about 1 billion dollars and were really excited, but when they started to
research it, they discovered they are completely hopeless at stopping the missile. Knowing that
stopping the missile was extremely complicated for everyone, not just George, made him feel a bit
better. It also made it a bit easier to enjoy the dancing and singing, which were especially crazy
because everyone was pretty sure they only had 3 days to live.
After the party, George saw another notice, this one saying the missile is going to hit in exactly 2 days,
2 hours and 2 minutes. Seeing this gave George a great idea. His friend David Lesner, whose
nickname is 222, knows lots about technology. George decides to call him and see if they can meet,
and talk about how to stop the missile. He calls 222 and 222 says that he would be glad to try and help
George stop the missile. They decide to meet at 222 s house the next day after school.
Within five minutes of talking/working, they get into an argument. 222 says that since he knows more

Fashion History Essay
Introduction
Historically, multiple styles of dressing have been created during the last several decades, which
played an important role in modern fashion in the UK. Everyone has a different and unique dressing
style in their general life. Some styles are influenced in vintage styles which is attributing to the deep
effects of old vogue, and another group of dressing styles are inclined into the fresh element.
According to those different styles some of them are even evolved in the milestones in fashion history.
To start this essay, it will introduce the evaluation of the first significant revolution of dressing style in
1960s. A famous designer called Mary Quant created mini skirts and it becomes the most popular

the 60s (Tolkien., 2002).
As the hot fashion background during the 1960s, people cannot ignore a talented fashion designer,
Mary Quant. She changed the dressing style of this decade and created the famous mini skirt. It soon
became the most popular product in the summer of 1960 (Tolkien., 2002). Most importantly, she
improved and created the dressing styles of 1960 and women s dresses have become sexier and more

The Insulin Like Growth Factor 1 Receptor
Introduction
The insulin like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF1R) is a transmembrane receptor composed of two alpha
and two beta subunits that are activated by the hormone known as insulin like growth factor 1 (IGF1)
(6). By binding to IGF1, IGF1R mediates the effects of IGF1 in growth and development throughout
the body and it is essential for normal fetal development and growth. (6,5). The insulin like growth
factor 1 receptor (IGF1R) is impacted with insulin (5). Therefore it can provide good environment
habitat for some parasite such as Plasmodium falciparum, which cause malaria in human. Therefore
the insulin like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF1R) may increase this specific parasite s life span and

Body
I. Malaria life cycle
The main cause of Malaria is Plasmodium falciparum or plasmodium vivax, which is carry by the
female Anopheles mosquito. As the female Anopheles mosquito bits on the human to take blood meal,
the Plasmodium falciparum gets injected to the blood stream via mosquito s saliva and travels through
blood stream and eventually gets to the liver. In liver the Plasmodium falciparum being to multiply
asexually. Next they start rupturing liver cells and release back to the blood stream. In the blood the
parasite being to invade and multiply again inside the red blood cells. This time they start to reproduce
sexually within the blood stream. This occurs until the red blood cells burst and releasing the parasite
once again into the blood stream. Bursting of the red blood cells lead to acute anemia. This cycle
happens over and over again and each time cause Chile, fever sweating. Rupturing the red blood cells
and high temperature fever will eventually lead to death. Next the uninfected female Anopheles

Explain The Six Best Ways To Protect Your Electronics When...
The Six Best Ways To Protect Your Electronics When Traveling Or Moving
Electronics are personal items that are essential to bring along when traveling or moving. This is
because they are provide important communication and entertainment functions. However, they are
also an expensive investment that need to be properly protected. Below offers six excellent ways to
protect your electronics while traveling or moving.
Security
Electronic security isn t just about setting strong passwords. Be sure to keep your expensive electronic
items with you while traveling. Do not assume that they will be safe in the hotel room or safe. A
security cable chain lock is an excellent way to protect laptop and other large electronics. Consider
installing an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, plasma TVs should be covered with a blanket, placed in the upright position and given
additional padding. Be sure not to pack smaller electronics with other items. Instead, carefully stack
them on top. Be sure to protect your electronics from hot, cold and damp weather.
Travel Tips
When traveling by plane, keep all electronics stored under your seat. This is because electronics can
be damaged when luggage moves around in the overhead bins during the flight. In addition to this, it
is easy for someone else to take your bag from the overhead bin by mistake or on purpose. When
traveling by car, keep electronics in the trunk on top of other items. Avoid moving electronics back
and forth between the front of the car and trunk. That is, do not advertise when stopped that you are
storing electronics in the trunk.
Consistently
Be sure to keep your electronic items in the same place. This will reduce the likelihood of forgetting
anything. It is quite common during traveling to forget items because you are not following your
normal routine. For example, it is common for people to forget their cellphone at motels or before they
board a plane.

Ocd Symptoms, And Ocd Cognition
Many OCD symptoms are represented by at least four to five symptom dimensions. This experiment
was conducted to determine the relationship between OCD symptoms, and OCD cognition. They did
so, by using the Gold Standard clinician administrate red scale for OCD the Yale Brown Obsessive
Compulsive Scale (Y BOSC). I will be using information from the results portion of their experiment.
 dication and 46.2 % had received a behavioral intervention for their OCD in the past. Results of the
OBQ cognitive domains indicated that participants had an average score of 73.0 (SD = 24.5) for
perfectionism/intolerance of uncertainty, 67.9 (SD = 25.5) for responsibility/threat estimation, and
40.2 (SD = 19.1) for importance/ control of thoughts.  The specified YBOCS SC categories that
were subjected to PCA yielded five components explaining 64.9 % of the variance. The five
components were: (1) hoarding, (2) contamination/cleaning, (3) symmetry/ordering, (4)
unacceptable/taboo thoughts (consisting of impulsive aggressive, sexual and religious obsessions and
mental rituals), and (5) Doubt/checking (consisting of unintentional harm obsessions and checking
compulsions). I will be incorporating several pieces of information, from the peer reviewed article
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder . This articles shares information on how to determine whether or not
you have OCD or can you get it later on in life. The cognitive behavioral model used as stated in the
article, made way for the success of

Essay On The Republic Of Plato
Unless, I said, the philosophers rule as kings or those now called kings and chiefs genuinely and
adequately philosophize, and political power and philosophy coincide in the same place, while the
many natures now making their way to either apart from the other are by necessity excluded, there is
no rest from ills for the cities, my dear Glaucon, nor I think for human kind, nor will the regime we
have now described in speech ever come forth from nature, insofar as possible, and see the light of the
sun. (THE REPUBLIC OF PLATO By Allan B 473d 473e)
In this essay, I will try to point out reasons why I think Plato wants the state to be ruled by
philosophers and why I think he is right. In his time, Plato was disappointed by the way his teacher

To my understanding, men do not become philosopher. Philosophers are born philosophers, they are
gifted ones. It is by nature and as per Plato, it is very important that the most gifted youths be given a
very good training from their early age otherwise they will turn to bad ones if given bad training. This
is why it is imperative that philosopher kings rule the state. They will provide proper, better training
for the philosophers to become than those leaders who rule by opinions and beliefs. This is probably
what happens to Hitler. He became a monster because he did not receive a proper training. The way he
went from street to power shows he was no ordinary person. He would probably have been a better
leader if he received a proper education. There are a lot to say but since limited by the length of the

Use Of Writing Used By The Missionaries Of Josiah Venture
and observed the larger purpose they all serve as a whole. I gathered many primary sources that were
written in different points of time. I was able to make sense of much of the data from my past
experience with support raising. I have spent several summers in the states with my parents as they
use these methods of support raising so I myself am also very familiar with many of Josiah Venture s
methods.
Results The results of this study show the importance of all of these forms of writing used by the
missionaries of Josiah Venture. It is important to realize that the supporters of all of these missionaries
are mainly residence of the United States and other European countries. The strategies and roles of
these writing types may not apply to every culture a certain missionary communicates with. However,
I the values and meaning behind these methods likely apply to all cultures.
Support Letters I ll start with the very first technological writing method for support raising. Support
letters. Like I said earlier in my paper, I interviewed my grandfather Richard Patty who served in the
Philippines for several years. I managed to obtain several samples of support letters from him
including one that dates all the way back to 1955. News letters can sustain the interest of a donor.

Undertaking Poem Annotated
The poem, Undertaking describes the loss of a women s husband. The wife cleans and treats her loved
one s body as if it is still alive. But she realizes the death, until his body is taken away and not treated
with the love she gave him. Even though her husband has passed away, the speaker seems to still have
a relationship with him through the description of her delicate treatment towards him. The relationship
between the wife and husband is still alive. Through the description of the poem we see that the wife
does not see her husband as a dead body. She treats her husband s body as something alive that feels

Positive Outcomes Via Health Screening
Positive Outcomes via Health Screening With cost effectiveness and money saving seemingly being a
keystone of health care in the United States, low cost preventative health care and screening programs
are at the forefront of budgetary meetings in government agencies and boardrooms across the nation.
According to a 2010 study of the cost effectiveness of preventive care, there is a possibility of savings
of $3.7 Billion if current programs could increase use to around 90 %(Maciosek, et. al., 2010). While
cost will always be a consideration, there obviously is the human element that must be addressed at
the ground level. Inspiring people to use government or state funded programs is no easy task as the
people who are not using them are the ones who need the programs the most(Dryden, et. al. 2012).
Below is an exploration of some successful and unsuccessful programs, and some ideas on improving
use of these programs by the people who need them the most. Women s Preventive Health The Every
Woman Matters program(EWM), is one of many government funded programs aimed at providing
preventive maintenance and screening to populations considered more at risk and less likely to seek
care(Backer, et. al. 2005). EWM provided women with a clinical breast exam, mammography, and
paponicolaou smear test at reduced or no cost , it also provided the providers with assistance and
incentives for participation(Backer, et. al. 2005). In the United, poor, uneducated males are the least

Comparing Race And La Raza Cosmica
The Readings The Race by José Martí and La Raza Cosmica by José Vasconcelos explored the deep
analysis of races and how they function in society. Martí explained anti racism, and his specific life
experiences that led him to the beliefs he has. Vasconcelos similarly took a different approach on race
and explained the idea that culture plays an immense role in how a society functions and the lasting
impact it has for the future. Both works express a deep understanding of race, and the ideology behind
races. My Race by José Martí, explains how anti racism shaped by his life experiences led him to
write this. His belief is stated clearly that he wants Cuba specifically to be home to both blacks and
whites. Similarly, he then explains how people died for Cuba, not just blacks, or whites, or mulattos
but people within the Cuban community died for this place. In addition, Martí explains that there are
not whites or blacks, there are Cubans. Within that race are a group of people who want to liberate ...

which depleted the natives, even today white people continue to annihilate natives in a sordid and

relationship between the parent and their child. The message of the poem Ode on the Whole Duty of
Parents is that being wise with their children has a huge impact on their relationship between them.
Whereas the message in the poem How to Change a Frog into a prince is that patience for their

Over past millennia s, when music was first coming to be recognized, there were many different types
of instruments. Over many years leading up to today, types of instruments were created and perfected,
for the most part. The different instruments created over time were the woodwind instruments, brass
instruments, percussion instruments, keyboard instruments, and one of those was the percussion
instruments. The string instruments cover a multitude of instruments, there are orchestral types and
even some that are plucked. Violins, viola, cello, double bass, harps, guitars, lute, and even ukuleles

though the instrument is used in the string sections, it is not 100%, a member of the violin family, with
the violin, viola, and cello. The bow is shorter and thicker than the cello bow. It uses a horsehair bow,
and there are two types of bows for this instrument, the French bow, and the German bow. The French
bow is used overhand, the back of the hand facing the listener, and the German bow is used underarm,
the thumb facing upward. The French bow is similar to the cello, but shorter and thicker, and the
German bow is slimmer, with thinner horsehair. The double bass is the only modern bowed string
instrument that is tuned in fourths (like a viol), rather than fifths. The players are either standing or
sitting, on a long legged stool, in order to play the instrument. The double bass is similar with the
violin, viola, and cello in that it was created around the 15th 16th century, off of the outline of the viol.

not related to the viol. This instrument is just one of the many instruments used in the string section of

Database Management System For A Company
A research database management system (RDBMS) is the most used database management system for
a company. Its roots date back to 1970, created by E.F. Codd at IBM. The database approach involves
the storage of data involving tables. Attributes of the tables involve rows, used as a record of an entity.
Columns, also attributes of the table, determine what will be recorded for that field. Within a table one
primary key will be found, this represents a unique column of the table. A table may also have a
foreign key, there can be more than one, and it identifies a primary key of another table. Foreign keys
allow for relationships between tables to be created.
The RDBMS is so widely used because of its simplicity to understand relationships between data. The
data can also be analyzed in many ways using queries, reports, etc. A database management system
covers all functions of the business and is essential for businesses to be run efficiently. Since the
introduction of this time of database management system in 1970 it has triumphed many former types
of widely used databases and fended off new types of databases to remain the most common type.
Times have changed in the information technology world since 1970 when IBM was running the show
and leading the world with improving and introducing new technology. I believe the top five most
used RDBMS used in the market today are Oracle, Microsoft SQL server, IBM DB2, MySQL and
PostgreSQL. Oracle database had its first

Animal Ethics Peter Singer
nor does man any moral obligation to consider the interests of these animals. In light of this, one must
question Cohen s moral motivations. If it is scientifically proven that caring for animals in a humane
manner is absolutely vital to the survival of our own kind, what motives must a man who denies the
legitimacy of this necessity have for humanity? It is one thing to make the claim that in certain
circumstances, it is vital that humans use animals as a resource, but Cohen goes even further to
blatantly disregard animal s ability to suffer, and he denies all rights of animals due to their lack of
capacity for free moral judgment (Pojman and Vaughn 817). Cohen also proudly proclaims himself a

Singer notes how all discrimination is unseen at some point until the prejudice is forcefully pointed
out; that each person should be willing to exam their most basic, accepted values and criticize our
most fundamental values (Pojman and Vaughn 802). Taking this approach, Singer continues to
question the morality of killing and using animals as a commodity. Singer considers the ideas
discussed earlier, that this determination does not depend so much on the capabilities of animals, but
rather, their sentience. Singer states that the questions is not can they reason, nor can they talk, but,
can they suffer? This idea captures the vital element that Cohen chooses to overlook. The key
commonality between humans and animals is that we both can experience pain and suffering, and both
would rather avoid it. Cohen not only disregards the environmentally harmful effects of his side of the
argument, but he also considers power to be his prime reasoning for considering animals to be inferior.
He acknowledges animal s sentient ability, but due to their lack of what he deems intelligent capability
and moral choice, he sees this as something simply to be accepted as part of the relationship between
humans and

Australia s Immigration Policy
Immigration, especially from Asia, was a contentious issue in Australia during the 1980s and 1990s.
This was largely a direct result of Australia s involvement in the Vietnam War, and a responsibility we
had to help the large group of refugees that were a result of the war. The Blainey debate also impacted
heavily on public perception on immigration, as Professor Geoffrey Blainey, began a critique of
Australia s immigration policy. This paper is going to focus on the Blainey debate and its impact on
immigration, as well as the changes made to Australia s immigration policy beginning in the 1970s,
and the Vietnam War, which caused for the number of refugees and people immigrating to Australia,

As mentioned above, the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 was a key part in changing of attitudes to
how refugees were welcomed in Australia. This act, however, had its beginnings as an amendment to

changed Australia s immigration policy, as well as changing Australia from a largely white country, to
a new multiethnic society. The way that immigrants were selected, to come to Australia, also changed
from the 1970s onwards. Stewart West, the Federal Minister for Immigration and Ethnic Affairs,
addressed this selection during a speech in 1984; Our first commitment is to honor responsibilities to
those migrants already in Australia, to honor international obligations and to accept that humanitarian
considerations apply to both these areas (Foster, 1988, pp.). One of the new categories introduced, was
the skilled migrant. This allowed immigrants with useful and professional skills and trades to have an
advantage over other immigrants when being considered to gain visas. Family reunion is another one
of these new categories, which gave priority to the relatives of immigrants and refugees who have
already relocated to Australia. The family reunion policy also played a large role in the influx of
Vietnamese refugees after the war, as those who had escaped the communist regime, now were able to
bring their families to safety in Australia as well. Humanitarian migration is another of these
categories, which specialised specifically in refugees and providing both offshore and onshore
resettlement programs. These new categories of immigrants, as well as pressure from other countries,
encouraged Australia to increase the amount of immigrants allowed entry into Australia every

Miss Awful
In Miss Awful by Arthur Cavanaugh, Virginia Clark describes her son, Roger, as a lively, outgoing
youngster (160), but some events determine Roger as caring and a boy who perserveres on top of his
fun side. Early in the story, Roger is telling his family all about his unproductive day at school and can
t help but tell them that one day his class got up from laying on the floor and got up and did the
Mexican hat dance (161). This is how Roger is proved lively and energetic because he only tells his
family about the fun parts of school, and doesn t tell them about, say, a spelling test or maybe a math
worksheet they had to do. At this time, Roger s mother remembers how Roger had done a good deed
just for a cat, he had carried down saucers

The Hawthorne s Effect On Human Relations
Summary of Concept
The Hawthorne effect is the tendency when people are monitored, watched, or treated differently
within a setting they tend to work harder. They may change their behavior due to the attention they are
receiving from supervisors rather than manipulation of independent variables. The Hawthorne test
studies began in 1924 1933 in three stages at Western Electric Company in Cicero, Illinois. Under the
supervision of Elton Mayo, who was an industrial research professor at Harvard University conducted
this study. The Hawthorne officials did not anticipate how long these studies would last, however, the
results found within these experiments sets them apart as a significant theory in behavior and human
relations. The Hawthorne studies are considered to be one of the most important studies in human
relations because it was the first study to introduce other factors beyond pay that can contribute to
worker productivity. Also, this study altered the common perception of employees as machines. This
research may be common knowledge in the 21st century, however, the Hawthorne studies began a
legacy of questioning and improving the relationship of attention and productivity. In 1924 the
National Research Council funded a study to see if workers would become more productive with
different levels of lighting in the factory. The researchers hypothesized that increasing factors such as
meal periods would increase productivity and dimming the lights would decrease

Eyewitness Testimony as a Source of Reliable Evidence
Eyewitness Testimony as a source of reliable evidence
In relation to cognitive psychology, is eyewitness testimony reliable in today s judicial system?
Word Count: 3944
ABSTRACT
Is eyewitness testimony a reliable source of evidence in today s judicial system? Many jurors tend to
pay close attention to eyewitness testimony assuming that what they hear is exactly as it happened.
They ignore the psychology behind remembering an event. Our brain is a complex structure and it is
difficult to absorb every stimulus in our surrounding. We pay great attention to some aspects of a
situation while completely ignoring others. It is advisable for expert psychologists to be present during
a court case that involves eyewitness testimony, as they are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Human memory is seen as an unreliable source when we apply the idea of reconstructive and
interpretative nature of memory to eyewitness testimony. The probability of people being wrongly
accused increases as the importance of eyewitness testimony in the cases of accidents and crimes
increases, and therefore the guilty do not come to justice (Gross, 64). Many experiments conclude that
law professionals and judges rely and place their decisions on eyewitness testimony, however,
researchers investigated on situations whereby the innocent had been accused. As cited in Miller s
article (2006), Gary Wells (1998) researched on forty such cases and with the help of DNA testing it
was found that all forty convicted suspects were actually innocent. The witnesses wrongfully accused
the suspects in thirty six of these cases.
The human brain has a limited capacity to deal with the incoming information but yet every moment
we encounter a large variety of stimuli like sights, sounds and smells. However, as mentioned above if
we encounter stimuli which conflict with our schemas, we reconstruct our memory in order to fit our
schemas. The human brain therefore focuses on some aspects of the situation while ignoring the others
in order to cope with the sensory barrage. This process of choosing stimuli is called selective
attention. Eyewitnesses tend to collect information that relates to their interests and may ignore other
vital aspects

Hypervisibility And Invisibility Of The Black Body Essay
Hypervisibility and Invisibility of the Black Body in Citizen Citizen, written by Claudia Rankine in
2014, narrates testimonies of systematic racism and every day micro aggressions through poems,
essays, scripts and images. Rankine documents the racist encounters through the second person point
of view for the reader to feel and understand the effects racism has on the body and mind. This paper
will examine hypervisibility and invisibility of the black body embedded in the novel because of
decades of racism. Rankine emphasizes the sensory emotions and feelings of the black body as a
response to America s reluctance to recognize and empathize with black men and women. Citizen s
opening poem sets the tone for reflection. She writes when you are alone and too tired even to turn on
any devices, you let yourself linger a past stacked among your pillows, a self awareness of the events
that will arise in the rest of the text (Rankine 5). Throughout the text, the subject in each testimony
manifests a sense of consciousness towards invisibility of his or her body. In an example of
microaggression, the black woman details an incident in a which a white girl cheats off her test and
takes the initiative in thanking [the woman] for letting her cheat and feels better cheating from an
almost white person (Rankine 5). She erases the blackness of the woman to justify her actions, a
common endeavor in white America s exploitation of the black body. This endeavor is evident of the

The Laws Of Sex Trafficking
There are many other types of trafficking other than the stereotypical 17 year old girl. The most
prevalent is labor trafficking. Traffickers exploit punishment through manipulation of laws. Even now,
traffickers are causing psychological and sometimes physical damage on their victims. Many
companies are attempting to rid of trafficking within their plants, there are people working for cheaper
rates, which, result in higher acceptance rates. In 2001, when Germany legalized prostitution, illegal
traffic decreased by 10%. (Reisenwitz, Cathy) Therefore, the laws of sex trafficking should be
fortified because traffickers manipulate laws and legalization of prosecution dropped illegal
trafficking rates, we should focus on helping all victims rather than focusing on sex trafficking.
Granted that traffickers avoid punishment, they are able to manipulate their victims. A troubled child s
parent did not know what was happening, but her child was introverted and less social. (Greenlee
Donnel, Cynthia) this evidence helps support the fact that this child was so troubled that he did not
confess what was happening despite the discerned alterations. However, many vagrant individuals are
resorting to drugs and sex. This can result in them being pimped due to craving money. (Picard,
Andre) there are many ways that the victims are exploited.
However, some countries want to begin a death sentence for convicted traffickers. China s ministry of
public security also claims that human

The Effect Of Global Warming On The Environment
The temperature was taken at each of the sites to determine the heat of the water. The temperature of
the water affects the dissolved oxygen as well as the rate of photosynthesis and the metabolic rates of
water life. (Hovey, n.d) Warmer water can hold less dissolved oxygen and plants grow and die more
quickly. Therefore it can be deduced that cooler water allows for a more comfortable environment for
animals and vegetation.
Ms. Hovey conducted a study on the Severn Estuary in the UK and noticed that the temperature of the
water has increased. Increasing temperature of the water can result from Global Warming. As Global
Warming alters temperature and weather patterns, it could have an impact on plant and animal life.

Results were recorded in these areas. The pH values in the mouth, lagoon and middle reaches of the
estuary were similar ranging between 6.0 and 8.8. Low pH values were occasionally recorded in the
head reach, resulting from the inflow of acidic waters from the Knysna River. Russell found that there
was a decrease in the number of biodiversity living near the head reaches of the lagoon. (I.A. Russell,
1996)
Biodiversity is affected by changes in pH and start to die out when the pH level has changed as the
animals and plants find it hard to adapt. In the Siyaya river, if the pH level had to change because of
the river becoming open to the sea, the animals and plants will be affected and decrease in number.
Atmospheric pollution among other air pollutants can cause rain water to become acidic. The rain
water collects in rivers and the water will become acidic therefore endangering humans who use the
water as well as killing or weakening the biodiversity in the river as well as the surrounding areas of
the river.
Dr Kjerfe has stated that there will be an increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide levels which will
increase the probability of rain water becoming acidic therefore affecting the biodiversity of the area
surrounding the tributaries/ rivers. The acidic rain would impact especially the Siyaya River and the
Amanzimnyama River as they are placed in heavily vegetated areas. The acidic rain

Compare Beowulf And Forrest Gump
Nowadays many people believe that Beowulf and Forrest Gump are similar because they both
considered as heroes of the time in which they lived. First of all, Beowulf considered as a hero
because he is capable of sacrificing himself and courage in the name of justice. He is brave, and at the
same time, a decent hero. There is no reason to doubt his merits. Forrest Gump is also considered as a
hero because he thinks about faith, love, honesty, patriotism. He is a kind person who remained
faithful to his family, friends, and his country. He is a man who always carries God in his soul, and
lives according to the laws of Christian love to God and to the nearest ones. Both Beowulf and Forrest
Gump do things that other people consider impossible. Beowulf and Forrest Gump can be compared
as heroes representing their time period and cultures. Beowulf is a medieval heroic epic. The poem
originated on the basis of ancient traditions related to pagan times. The poem represent an early
example of precisely moral heroism, but not the one that is caused by the desire for fame and power.
The main character of the poem, Beowulf, is capable of sacrificing himself and courage in the name of
justice. He is a true hero by honoring his country and exerting his power and strength to protect others.
His courage is shown by not hesitating to risk his own life to pursue the Dane s enemies. By being self
assured, Beowulf is able to successfully defeat the fiends, Grendel and his infamous mother. At the
time Beowulf is planning to pursue the vindictive dragon, the epic poem states, I ve never known fear,
as a youth I fought in endless battles. I am old now, but I will fight again, seek fame still, If the dragon
hiding in his tower dares to face me. (ll. 2511 2515). He feels no fear, is confident in fighting the
dragon alone, and has no qualms in risking his life to save others. He declares his bravery by saying,
When he comes to me I mean to stand, not run from his shooting flames, stand till fate decides which
of us wins... No one else could do what I mean to, here, no man but me could hope to defeat this
monster. (ll. 2525 2534) In his actions, Beowulf s bravery is clearly shown throughout the poem. As
king, Beowulf is the

Photosynthesis Lab Report
The alternative hypothesis for the photosynthesis vs irradiance experiment was initially estimated to
be; Ulva grown under low light will have a steeper initial slope, and a lower Pmax than Ulva grown
under high light. The results have shown the initial slope (alpha) for the low light was 1.21 and for the
high light was 0.81, therefore low light did have a steeper slope that Ulva grown under low light. This
would be because in the low light Ulva, light is a more of a limiting factor than for the high light Ulva,
therefore the low light algae have adapted to harvest the light to suit their environment. This is done
by rapidly increasing or decreasing the pigment content in response to the light availability levels. By
doing this the low light ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The predicted hypothesis for this experiment was Ulva grown under low light will have a higher
chlorophyll a content and a higher chlorophyll b content than Ulva grown under high light. The reason
that this assumption was made is because Ulva that is growing in light limiting areas need to be able to
harvest as much light as possible while the light is available. Chlorophyll a is able to absorb light in
the red and blue spectrum while chlorophyll b is able to absorb light at intermediate wavelengths, as
discussed in the introduction. The T tests results that were calculated concluded to be: chlorophyll a
(0.17), chlorophyll b (0.47) and the total chlorophyll (0.37). Since all three p values are greater than
0.05, it can be concluded that there is no difference between the low and high light means, therefore
the predicted (alternate) hypothesis can be rejected. In theory the experiment should have resulted as
the alternative hypothesis predicted, but consequently errors have occurred that have prevents this
outcome. All the class data was combined, therefore nine replications were conducted which would
have eliminated human error, but unfortunately the Ulva used mightn t have been grown under the
high and low light conditions for long enough for the chlorophyll to adapt to the

I Am An Architect With The Valley Civilization
I am an Architect with some handsome professional experience in my field. Running as a thread
through different things I realized that Architecture is not just designing healthy buildings; it is a
connection between the individual buildings to emotional infrastructure like our parks, our roads,
public buildings, walkways and many more. From the beginning, I was very much interested in
understanding the relationship between urban form and trust. As I believe that the way we design our
cities has a strong effect how we behave with other people and it make us generous or mean.
When I studied about Indus Valley Civilization in History of Architecture , I was amazed to know that
the people of this Indus Valley civilization did not build massive monuments like their
contemporaries, nor did they bury riches among their dead in golden tombs. There were no mummies,
no emperors, and no violent wars or bloody battles in their territory. Remarkably, the lack of all these
is what makes the Indus Valley civilization so exciting and unique. While others civilizations were
devoting huge amounts of time and resources to the rich, the supernatural, and the dead, Indus Valley
inhabitants were taking a practical approach to supporting the common, secular, living people. Sure,
they believed in an afterlife and employed a system of social divisions. But they also believed
resources were more valuable in circulation among the living than on display or buried underground.

  • 2. Crucial Issues In Our World Since time immemorial, humans have been helping each other in hard situations. There is a famous saying from Gandhi, who says: The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others. Nowadays, it is one of the most crucial issues in our world, so we can see a vast number of charities with various purposes everywhere. For instance, some of them are for fighting against cancer or other illnesses, some for helping hungry and homeless people, and above all, war victims. Redbox SWOT Analyisis Negative change in contracts with movie studios (price; discontinue) Companies like Netflix that have been in the movie streaming industry for many years, and have a large portion of the market for streaming movies make it difficult to others to enter into the online movie rental industry. Netflix has already established a large library of movies and TV shows available for its members. It would take Redbox a number of years and resources in order to catch up with the infrastructure that Netflix already has available and ready for the consumer right now. Redbox would need to analize the opportunity cost of going into a new market or staying and investing in the current kiosks market and making sure that it is the best it can be. ... Not quite yet, Blu ray sales ere 28.5 percent higher in the first quarter of this year than a year ago (DEG 2013). Thus, as the Blu ray player is a compliment to physical DVD s, and the Blu ray player sales are growing, it is apparent that consumers demand for the physical DVD still exist. Consumer Reports Stated that: Retail spending on discs remained strong, indicating that physical and digital formats will continue to coexist in the marketplace. While overall disc unit sales were down 6 percent form the previous year, sales of movies and TV shows on Blu ray continued to offset the decline in DVD sales. Sales of Blu ray disc grew by 7 percent and accounted for 20 percent of total disc sales, up from 18 percent the previous year (Consumer Report 2013) For now, Redbox is in a position to fulfill the demands of the consumer, however Redbox must keep a vigilant eye on the trends of the consumer as the market shifts from physical to digital movie rentals. 3. 3. According to the news report, Neptunians, the people of Neptune, have launched a missile that is going to hit Earth in exactly 72 hours, or three days. If what the Neptunians say is true, then they launched the missile because they want to destroy the Earth. They say that this is because pollution from the Earth has reached their planet, and it is causing global warming on Neptune. Deep down, George knew that he had no chance at stopping the missile, so he might as well live it up for possibly the last three days of his life. George went over to Alex s house and found out that almost everyone there was in the same boat as him. They saw the notice about 1 billion dollars and were really excited, but when they started to research it, they discovered they are completely hopeless at stopping the missile. Knowing that stopping the missile was extremely complicated for everyone, not just George, made him feel a bit better. It also made it a bit easier to enjoy the dancing and singing, which were especially crazy because everyone was pretty sure they only had 3 days to live. After the party, George saw another notice, this one saying the missile is going to hit in exactly 2 days, 2 hours and 2 minutes. Seeing this gave George a great idea. His friend David Lesner, whose nickname is 222, knows lots about technology. George decides to call him and see if they can meet, and talk about how to stop the missile. He calls 222 and 222 says that he would be glad to try and help George stop the missile. They decide to meet at 222 s house the next day after school. • 10. Essay On The Republic Of Plato Unless, I said, the philosophers rule as kings or those now called kings and chiefs genuinely and adequately philosophize, and political power and philosophy coincide in the same place, while the many natures now making their way to either apart from the other are by necessity excluded, there is no rest from ills for the cities, my dear Glaucon, nor I think for human kind, nor will the regime we have now described in speech ever come forth from nature, insofar as possible, and see the light of the sun. (THE REPUBLIC OF PLATO By Allan B 473d 473e) In this essay, I will try to point out reasons why I think Plato wants the state to be ruled by philosophers and why I think he is right. Philosophers are born philosophers, they are gifted ones. It is by nature and as per Plato, it is very important that the most gifted youths be given a very good training from their early age otherwise they will turn to bad ones if given bad training. This is why it is imperative that philosopher kings rule the state. They will provide proper, better training for the philosophers to become than those leaders who rule by opinions and beliefs. This is probably what happens to Hitler. He became a monster because he did not receive a proper training. The way he went from street to power shows he was no ordinary person. I gathered many primary sources that were written in different points of time. I was able to make sense of much of the data from my past experience with support raising. I have spent several summers in the states with my parents as they use these methods of support raising so I myself am also very familiar with many of Josiah Venture s methods. Results The results of this study show the importance of all of these forms of writing used by the missionaries of Josiah Venture. It is important to realize that the supporters of all of these missionaries are mainly residence of the United States and other European countries. The strategies and roles of these writing types may not apply to every culture a certain missionary communicates with. However, I the values and meaning behind these methods likely apply to all cultures. Support Letters I ll start with the very first technological writing method for support raising. Support letters. Like I said earlier in my paper, I interviewed my grandfather Richard Patty who served in the Philippines for several years. Positive Outcomes Via Health Screening Positive Outcomes via Health Screening With cost effectiveness and money saving seemingly being a keystone of health care in the United States, low cost preventative health care and screening programs are at the forefront of budgetary meetings in government agencies and boardrooms across the nation. According to a 2010 study of the cost effectiveness of preventive care, there is a possibility of savings of $3.7 Billion if current programs could increase use to around 90 %(Maciosek, et. al., 2010). While cost will always be a consideration, there obviously is the human element that must be addressed at the ground level. Inspiring people to use government or state funded programs is no easy task as the people who are not using them are the ones who need the programs the most(Dryden, et. al. 2012). Below is an exploration of some successful and unsuccessful programs, and some ideas on improving use of these programs by the people who need them the most. Women s Preventive Health The Every Woman Matters program(EWM), is one of many government funded programs aimed at providing preventive maintenance and screening to populations considered more at risk and less likely to seek care(Backer, et. al. 2005). • 17. Database Management System For A Company A research database management system (RDBMS) is the most used database management system for a company. Its roots date back to 1970, created by E.F. Codd at IBM. The database approach involves the storage of data involving tables. Attributes of the tables involve rows, used as a record of an entity. Columns, also attributes of the table, determine what will be recorded for that field. Within a table one primary key will be found, this represents a unique column of the table. A table may also have a foreign key, there can be more than one, and it identifies a primary key of another table. Foreign keys allow for relationships between tables to be created. The RDBMS is so widely used because of its simplicity to understand relationships between data. The data can also be analyzed in many ways using queries, reports, etc. A database management system covers all functions of the business and is essential for businesses to be run efficiently. Since the introduction of this time of database management system in 1970 it has triumphed many former types of widely used databases and fended off new types of databases to remain the most common type. Times have changed in the information technology world since 1970 when IBM was running the show and leading the world with improving and introducing new technology. If it is scientifically proven that caring for animals in a humane manner is absolutely vital to the survival of our own kind, what motives must a man who denies the legitimacy of this necessity have for humanity? It is one thing to make the claim that in certain circumstances, it is vital that humans use animals as a resource, but Cohen goes even further to blatantly disregard animal s ability to suffer, and he denies all rights of animals due to their lack of capacity for free moral judgment (Pojman and Vaughn 817). Singer considers the ideas discussed earlier, that this determination does not depend so much on the capabilities of animals, but rather, their sentience. Singer states that the questions is not can they reason, nor can they talk, but, can they suffer? This idea captures the vital element that Cohen chooses to overlook. The key commonality between humans and animals is that we both can experience pain and suffering, and both would rather avoid it. Cohen not only disregards the environmentally harmful effects of his side of the argument, but he also considers power to be his prime reasoning for considering animals to be inferior. He acknowledges animal s sentient ability, but due to their lack of what he deems intelligent capability and moral choice, he sees this as something simply to be accepted as part of the relationship between humans and ... As mentioned above, the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 was a key part in changing of attitudes to how refugees were welcomed in Australia. This act, however, had its beginnings as an amendment to the Migration Act in 1973, which introduced a non discriminatory immigration policy. This vastly changed Australia s immigration policy, as well as changing Australia from a largely white country, to a new multiethnic society. The way that immigrants were selected, to come to Australia, also changed from the 1970s onwards. Stewart West, the Federal Minister for Immigration and Ethnic Affairs, addressed this selection during a speech in 1984; Our first commitment is to honor responsibilities to those migrants already in Australia, to honor international obligations and to accept that humanitarian considerations apply to both these areas (Foster, 1988, pp.). One of the new categories introduced, was the skilled migrant. This allowed immigrants with useful and professional skills and trades to have an advantage over other immigrants when being considered to gain visas. Family reunion is another one of these new categories, which gave priority to the relatives of immigrants and refugees who have already relocated to Australia. The family reunion policy also played a large role in the influx of Vietnamese refugees after the war, as those who had escaped the communist regime, now were able to bring their families to safety in Australia as well. The Hawthorne s Effect On Human Relations Summary of Concept The Hawthorne effect is the tendency when people are monitored, watched, or treated differently within a setting they tend to work harder. They may change their behavior due to the attention they are receiving from supervisors rather than manipulation of independent variables. The Hawthorne test studies began in 1924 1933 in three stages at Western Electric Company in Cicero, Illinois. Under the supervision of Elton Mayo, who was an industrial research professor at Harvard University conducted this study. The Hawthorne officials did not anticipate how long these studies would last, however, the results found within these experiments sets them apart as a significant theory in behavior and human relations. The Hawthorne studies are considered to be one of the most important studies in human relations because it was the first study to introduce other factors beyond pay that can contribute to worker productivity. Also, this study altered the common perception of employees as machines. This research may be common knowledge in the 21st century, however, the Hawthorne studies began a legacy of questioning and improving the relationship of attention and productivity. Human memory is seen as an unreliable source when we apply the idea of reconstructive and interpretative nature of memory to eyewitness testimony. The probability of people being wrongly accused increases as the importance of eyewitness testimony in the cases of accidents and crimes increases, and therefore the guilty do not come to justice (Gross, 64). Many experiments conclude that law professionals and judges rely and place their decisions on eyewitness testimony, however, researchers investigated on situations whereby the innocent had been accused. As cited in Miller s article (2006), Gary Wells (1998) researched on forty such cases and with the help of DNA testing it was found that all forty convicted suspects were actually innocent. The witnesses wrongfully accused the suspects in thirty six of these cases. The human brain has a limited capacity to deal with the incoming information but yet every moment we encounter a large variety of stimuli like sights, sounds and smells. However, as mentioned above if we encounter stimuli which conflict with our schemas, we reconstruct our memory in order to fit our schemas. Rankine documents the racist encounters through the second person point of view for the reader to feel and understand the effects racism has on the body and mind. This paper will examine hypervisibility and invisibility of the black body embedded in the novel because of decades of racism. Rankine emphasizes the sensory emotions and feelings of the black body as a response to America s reluctance to recognize and empathize with black men and women. She writes when you are alone and too tired even to turn on any devices, you let yourself linger a past stacked among your pillows, a self awareness of the events that will arise in the rest of the text (Rankine 5). First of all, Beowulf considered as a hero because he is capable of sacrificing himself and courage in the name of justice. He is brave, and at the same time, a decent hero. There is no reason to doubt his merits. Forrest Gump is also considered as a hero because he thinks about faith, love, honesty, patriotism. He is a kind person who remained faithful to his family, friends, and his country. He is a man who always carries God in his soul, and lives according to the laws of Christian love to God and to the nearest ones. Both Beowulf and Forrest Gump do things that other people consider impossible. Beowulf and Forrest Gump can be compared as heroes representing their time period and cultures. Beowulf is a medieval heroic epic. The poem originated on the basis of ancient traditions related to pagan times. The poem represent an early example of precisely moral heroism, but not the one that is caused by the desire for fame and power. The main character of the poem, Beowulf, is capable of sacrificing himself and courage in the name of justice. He is a true hero by honoring his country and exerting his power and strength to protect others. His courage is shown by not hesitating to risk his own life to pursue the Dane s enemies. By being self assured, Beowulf is able to successfully defeat the fiends, Grendel and his infamous mother. At the time Beowulf is planning to pursue the vindictive dragon, the epic poem states, I ve never known fear, as a youth I fought in endless battles. I am old now, but I will fight again, seek fame still, If the dragon hiding in his tower dares to face me. (ll. 2511 2515). He feels no fear, is confident in fighting the dragon alone, and has no qualms in risking his life to save others. He declares his bravery by saying, When he comes to me I mean to stand, not run from his shooting flames, stand till fate decides which of us wins... He had a love for horses and became one of the first to introduce blooded stocks, with large lands in England, he raised his own colts and highlanders. He told Clara many war stories, he even drew maps, made models of battles and explained war strategies. Clara s lack of skills were evident, so the boys tried pulling her along with them, until a peice of uneven ice stuck out and tripped the tips of Clara s skates. This accident had sent her flying into the air, only to have her skid on the ice, leaving many bruises and cuts. In that moment Clara s only concern was how to conceal her injury from the adult, because she feared being in trouble. One knee was not as badly injured as the other and healed rather quickly, the other however, became a problem. • 32. Photosynthesis Lab Report The alternative hypothesis for the photosynthesis vs irradiance experiment was initially estimated to be; Ulva grown under low light will have a steeper initial slope, and a lower Pmax than Ulva grown under high light. The results have shown the initial slope (alpha) for the low light was 1.21 and for the high light was 0.81, therefore low light did have a steeper slope that Ulva grown under low light. This would be because in the low light Ulva, light is a more of a limiting factor than for the high light Ulva, therefore the low light algae have adapted to harvest the light to suit their environment. This is done by rapidly increasing or decreasing the pigment content in response to the light availability levels. By doing this the low light ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The predicted hypothesis for this experiment was Ulva grown under low light will have a higher chlorophyll a content and a higher chlorophyll b content than Ulva grown under high light. The reason that this assumption was made is because Ulva that is growing in light limiting areas need to be able to harvest as much light as possible while the light is available. Chlorophyll a is able to absorb light in the red and blue spectrum while chlorophyll b is able to absorb light at intermediate wavelengths, as discussed in the introduction. The T tests results that were calculated concluded to be: chlorophyll a (0.17), chlorophyll b (0.47) and the total chlorophyll (0.37). Since all three p values are greater than 0.05, it can be concluded that there is no difference between the low and high light means, therefore the predicted (alternate) hypothesis can be rejected. In theory the experiment should have resulted as the alternative hypothesis predicted, but consequently errors have occurred that have prevents this outcome. All the class data was combined, therefore nine replications were conducted which would have eliminated human error, but unfortunately the Ulva used mightn t have been grown under the high and low light conditions for long enough for the chlorophyll to adapt to the ... • 33. I Am An Architect With The Valley Civilization I am an Architect with some handsome professional experience in my field. Running as a thread through different things I realized that Architecture is not just designing healthy buildings; it is a connection between the individual buildings to emotional infrastructure like our parks, our roads, public buildings, walkways and many more. From the beginning, I was very much interested in understanding the relationship between urban form and trust. As I believe that the way we design our cities has a strong effect how we behave with other people and it make us generous or mean. When I studied about Indus Valley Civilization in History of Architecture , I was amazed to know that the people of this Indus Valley civilization did not build massive monuments like their contemporaries, nor did they bury riches among their dead in golden tombs. There were no mummies, no emperors, and no violent wars or bloody battles in their territory. Remarkably, the lack of all these is what makes the Indus Valley civilization so exciting and unique. While others civilizations were devoting huge amounts of time and resources to the rich, the supernatural, and the dead, Indus Valley inhabitants were taking a practical approach to supporting the common, secular, living people. Sure, they believed in an afterlife and employed a system of social divisions. But they also believed resources were more valuable in circulation among the living than on display or buried underground. Amazingly, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
