X-Ray Patient Observation
On Tuesday August 30, 2016 a Male 63 years of age came into Christus Spohn South Heath Center
with a diagnostic order for chest and rib x rays. He was being seen because of chest pain on his
right side due to a fall. He had an extensive patient history of x rays that went as far back as 2014.
For the year of 2016 he received approximately 12 different x rayseries. For example, on January
12, 2016 he received a chest 1 view image and cardiac catheterization. On May 21, 2016 he
received a chest 1 view and a complete 4 view foot. On May 30, 2016 he received a cardiac
catheterization. On June 1, 2016 and again on June 2, 2016 he received a chest 1 view. On June
10, 2016 he received a catheterization. On August 25, 2016 he received a chest 2 view. On
August 26, 2006 an upper extremity without contrast. The patient also has a history of open heart
surgery and receives dialysis treatments and is on oxygen. The patient was admitted into the
emergency room department and was unable to stand and had a fall risk arm band. In order to
take the x rays we had to move his bed into the x ray room. Before we could transport him I

was no evidence of displaced rib fracture, pneumothorax or hemothorax; A normal rib series. The

How Gardening Affects The World Of Science
Introduction
Science offers children, many different hands on, mind on experiences, allowing them to explore
and engage in the world around them. This report covers how gardening allows students to
immerse in the world of Science. Exposing children to the different stages of gardening allows
them to explore and connect how and why things happen, and help them to build awareness towards
the environment in which they live in. There are three different gardening experiences in this
report, which were observed and documented weekly. The three plants in this report include; a
black bean, which was planted from seeds, a celery offcut and radish, which was planted from seeds.
Each had different stages of development, which were investigated, ... Show more content on

Each lesson is designed to allow students to have a hands on mind on experience by connecting
what was learnt and with the world around them.
Growing a garden
The black bean seeds were planted in a pot, which contained soil from the backyard vegetable
garden and cow manure. The pot was placed outside, in the shade of other plants in the backyard.
By day eight the seeds had not germinated; therefore the pot was moved where it would get more
than six hours of direct sunlight a day, which was the suggested amount required (Grow This,
2016, para. 3). With enough sunlight and the soil being watered each day the seeds germinated
by day sixteen. The growth then became very rapid; however, there were signs of bugs eating
the leaves due to the holes that could be seen. A bug spray was applied to the plant in the hope
that the plant will survive. This spray was used twice a week and helped keep the bugs away and
allowed the leaves to continue to grow.
The black bean plant was exposed to a hot and dry Summer. By planting the black bean in a pot, it
meant that shade could be applied when the harsh weather was due to arrive (Tuton, 2010, para. 3).
The pot was relocated on days which would damage the growth of the plant and then returned to the
previous location when the weather cooled down.
The stems of the black bean plant measured in at 15 centimetres and sticks were added to help with
the growth. However,

Great Words In The Great Dictator, By Charlie Chaplin
Great words spoken by a truly great man in his speech from The Great Dictator. Charlie Chaplin
expressed a single idea that summed up a single and painful period in history, We all think too
much and feel too little. As much as people expected from me I can t help but wonder what it
would have been like to grow up during the timethat the streets were filled with the sound of
swing. A moment of time where I could escape to and feel free from my burdens that weigh heavy

Essay on Napoleon s Failure to Dominate Europe
Napoleon s Failure to Dominate Europe
A ruler s reputation comes from the change that he inflicts upon his subjects, territory, and
surrounding lands. Napoleon Bonaparte rose into power during the French Revolution, causing
drastic changes not only to France, but to the rest of Europe as well. His domestic and foreign
policies were not always successful, but his ability to rule was undeniable. From his rising in
power and reform of France, up until his military defeat in Russia, Napoleon succeeded in gaining a
considerate amount of power and control.
In France, Napoleon used his power to make many reforms in all aspects of life. He incorporated a
national bank, public schools, and constructed new roads. With these changes, he also ... Show more

Also, the Civil Code limited some of the rights of women. Divorce was made more difficult for
them, and after marriage, the husband had control of their property. In lawsuits, they were treated
as minors, and their testimony was regarded as less reliable than that of men. (World History 641)
Also, there were limitations on personal freedom such as press censorship, the use of spies, and the
imprisonment of extremists. (Modern Times 58) In his domestic policies...Napoleon both
destroyed and preserved aspects of the revolution. Even so, it appears that for the time being,
Napoleon kept the people fairly well satisfied. (Modern Times 58)
Napoleon accomplished much during his era. The name Napoleon recalls to mind great battles
won, mighty countries humbled, and the near establishment of a union of all Europe under the
supreme leadership of Napoleonic France. (Modern Times 59) But as others had discovered before
him...no nation can rule Europe for long. (The World in 1800 p89) Later came his ultimate
downfall the Russian Campaign in 1812.
While the Continental System was enforced, Russia was an ally of France, so Napoleon expected
Russia to support the anti British blockade policy. (Modern Times 62) Later, when he found that
Alexander I of Russia opened Russian ports to British commerce, (Modern Times 65) Napoleon
wanted to punish him because other countries might follow Russia s act.

Higher Education in India is improving gradually after Independence. It is in the second place in
the world after United States. Some institutions of India, such as the Indian Institutes of Technology

Entrance examinations
The Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination (IIT JEE) is an annual college
entrance examination in India, used as the sole admission criterion by the IITs. The examination
is organised each year by one of the various IITs, using a round robin rotation pattern. It has a
very low admission rate (about 1 in 50 in 2011). A proposal for replacing (IIT JEE) with a
common engineering entrance examination was made in 2010 and but due to resistance from
many IIT s this proposel is still under consideration. For Post Graduate studies, the entrance is
conducted on the basis of the Gate score card which is organised by IISC, Bangalore and IIT s
followed by written tests and interviews by the respective IIT s.
New Admission Policy of IITs
Joint Admission Board (JAB) of IIT Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) 2013 met on August
27, 2012 at IIT Delhi to discuss the forthcoming admission. The admission to the undergraduate
programmes at the 16 IITs and ISMU, Dhanbad for the year 2013 will be based on a two tier test.
The first test called the JEE (Main), will be held during the month of April, 2013 (both offline and
online). This test will be conducted by CBSE. The second test, called the

Problem Statement
What action should President Obama take to attenuate the problem of drug abuse among expecting
mothers during pregnancy?
Background
In the United States, there has been a growing concern for the number of newborn children that
have been exposed to drugs while in utero. The defenseless fetus is subject to any and all substances
that the mother ingests, injects, or inhales into her body. Significantly decreased gestational ages as
well as low birth weight have been linked to infants that have been born to mothers who are
engaging in substance abuse. Marijuana, cocaine, cigarettes, methamphetamine, heroin, and alcohol
are some of the more widely abused substances among pregnant mothers (Bailey, McCook, Hodge,
McGrady, 2012).
Children born to drug dependent mothers are susceptible to preterm delivery, decreased intrauterine
growth, impaired neurological developments, as well as congenital abnormalities. Unfortunately,
once the umbilical cord is cut, the withdrawal for the infants is initiated. The symptoms of
withdrawal will be evident in 55% to 94% of infants within 2 to 7 days after delivery (Eichel
Johannemann, 2014).
Some states have begun the argument that makes mothers that are positive for illegal, illicit, or
prescription drugs

There are several obstacles for manufacturers attempting to employ changes in their processes for
more sustainable practices. One problem that manufacturers will run into is the lack of direction.
Knowing that change is needed is the easy part of reaching sustainability. Knowing what changes
to make is a much more complicated challenge. The idea of sustainability is discussed often, yet
broad scope ideas are traded without specific details and applications. Team B Consultants Inc.

Although changing the lighting can bring some savings, this is just a small step toward
sustainability.
Increasing the efficiency of the equipment, by upgrading components and eliminating the
equipment s inefficiencies is another option for energy savings. Substantial savings can be realized
by changing the fixed speed motors on the injection molding equipment, to variable speed motors
that use less energy during less demanding cycles. Fixing the leaks in the equipment s hydraulic
system as well as performing other routine maintenance will keep the equipment efficient and
running as intended. Whereas these changes can increase efficiencies, they are simply bandages
that will need to be changed.
Safe Handling and Recycling of Chemicals and Solvents Riordan s four locations are at various
stages of recycling and reuse of their plastics. It is suggested that all locations follow
sustainability practices set by Riordan. By developing recycling and reuse practices Riordan will
realize savings on resources. Part of their immediate EMS would include:

Violence in Palestine and Israel
Since 1920 about 115,000 people have been killed as a directed effect of the violence in Palestine
and Israel. The One State Solution would only work if both sides committed to a democracy,
separation of state and religion and an end to violence because without this the states would have
the same problems and not have peace.
Right now democracy in Palestine is at a stand still. With elections that have not happened since
2006 the system is not working at its full potential. The leader of the PLO, Mahmoud Abbas, has
been in a power for 78 years. Mahmoud Abbas, the highly unpopular president, term has expired
many years ago but will not step down. In 2006, the Hamas won the elections but were rejected by
the West and so the Fatah stayed in power leading to the spilt of the two party s. Hamas controls
the Gaza Strip and Fatah the rest. In Israel there government is close to that of democracy. The
government has a legislative authority and an executive authority. The executive authority is
headed by the Prime Minster and is elected by the people for a four year term. The legislative
authority is made up of 120 members that are nation wide elections for a four year term. Israel
already has a government that is set up and is in working conduction. The one state solution would
have these two governments come together as one. It would help Palestine s political party s get
back on the right track. With one state solution the 120 people in the legislative authority could be

Artistic Authenticity And Its Impact On The Middle Of...
Artistic authenticity is a pattern starting with mid nineteenth century French Literature. It stretched
out to late nineteenth and early twentieth century creators. It is the delineation of contemporary life
and the general public as it seems to be. Realist creators selected delineation of ordinary and
hackneyed exercises and encounters, rather than a romanticized or comparatively adapted
presentation. In authenticity the character is a result of social components and environment is the
vital component in the emotional entanglements. It looks for a balanced relationship in the middle
of representation and the subject. This structure is otherwise called mimesis. Realists are
concerned with the impact of their work on the peruser and the peruser s life, a down to earth view.
Sober mindedness obliges the perusing of the workto have some irrefutable result for the perusers
that will prompt have a finer life for the peruser. Authenticity plans to decipher the facts of any part
of life, free from subjective partiality, optimism, or sentimental shade. It is contrary to concerns of
the abnormal, the premise of Romanticism. Stresses the genuine over the awesome. Tries to treat
the typical truthfully and utilized characters from regular life. This accentuation was brought on by
societal changes, for example, the repercussions of the Civil War in the United States and the rise
of Darwin s Theory of Evolution and its impact upon bible based understanding. Authenticity

Alcohol Consumption And Culture
Thesis: Written in 2010 by Malcolm Gladwell, which discusses various factors effecting alcohol
consumption throughout the United States of America, with the influence of culture and religion.
Since the beginning of time, drinking intoxicating substances have been extremely common
throughout. People get drunk to wash out their sorrows or for the sake of enjoyment. When it
comes to most cultures, drinking is viewed relaxants when you re under pressure or stressed out.
Religion and culture by far has mostly affected the rate of drinking in the society regarding
alcoholism. Moreover, being drunk had been considered a sin or is completely forbidden in
certain religions. Countries which are included in the European continent have been reported as
some of the biggest consumers of Alcohol with a daily intake after their meals, and Muslim
countries such as Saudi Arabia coming far behind under alcohol consumption due to culture and
religion playing a role in alcoholism. They even banned alcohol completely being sold in Saudi
Arabia and being arrested if they get caught by a mutawwa (A religious police if seen publicly

Firebrand Of Liberty Thesis
During the American Civil War thousands of blacks enlisted to support the cause of emancipation.
Before the war ended the black troops began to shift their focus to issues such as citizenship rights
by preparing to become citizens, and insisting that they should receive the same treatment and
opportunities as white troops. The book Firebrand of Liberty does a good job arguing the
importance of the Florida expedition in convincing the North that blacks should fight and to
increase enlistment. However, the author fails to consider other reasons for that decision.
Blacks, both free and enslaved believed in the cause of emancipation. They often sent letters
affirming their desire for a Union victory and an end to the rebellion. Furthermore they looked
forward to the day when the wrongs of the institution of slavery would be redressed. This desire
was reinforced by the enthusiasm of freed slaves. The motivations of the black soldiers is also

Many of them were former slaves and had more reason then most to support the cause of

emancipation.
However, even before the Civil War was over the black troops began to think about more than just
the cause of abolishing the institution of slavery and instead began to focus more on issues such as
citizenship rights. They were preparing, by education to be a true and worthy citizen of the United
States. While they still supported the cause of emancipation, and by extension the Union victory
that was a prerequisite for the success of that cause, they wanted more than just freedom. Not only

The Blow Literary Analysis
The Vow features a true love story between Kim and Krickitt Carpenter. Less than 10 weeks after
the wedding, the couple got into a horrible car crash giving Krickitt a huge head injury leaving
her in a coma. Krickitt woke up without her memory of ever meeting Kim let alone falling in love
with him or even marrying him. Krickitt being a huge part in Kim s life, Kim chooses to stand by
Krickitt s side going thru every husband s worst nightmare and tries to bring back the memories of
their relationship by doing things they once did together. But unfortunately, the efforts were mostly
failures and Kim understood that the Krickitt he married had died in the car crash. Krickitt may
have permanently lost the missing years of her life but with time, overcoming many obstacles along
the way, the two lovebirds eventually fall in love with each other once again and found themselves
with two children.

This isn t an everyday love story and knowing that it is a true story makes it only a lot more
romantic. I would recommend the book if you don t mind the constant preaching and if you have
yet to watch the movie. And for the rest, do not read the book! It will only show what a great job
the movie has done by capturing your hearts. I must say that I have regretted ever taking the time

Analysis Of Plato s Republic And Aristotle s Nicomachean...
Upon application for university, hearts are heavy with the uncertainty for the future. An
overwhelming hope to become the person we are meant to be. This journey, called university,
provides the inverse; a worldly creation where past and future are intertwined. A place for
discovery. A place of reflection. Leisure, sport and recreation are culpable in cultivating thyself
in preparation for true reflection, whose telos is knowledge of thyself. This paper will explore
this notion of the journey to true reflection through various historical and present day ideologies.
Context will be provided via personal experiences of each phase, as the yellow brick road, leading
up to reflection. Only then, true discoveries of thyself can be uncovered. Leisure, sport, and
recreation provide the opportunity for growth of mindand body. Both Platos Republic and Aristotle s
Nicomachean Ethics conceptualize this growth through games and sport. What is meant by
growth? What is development in relation to the self? Once sufficiently developed, leisure, sport,
recreation become agents for one to experience thyself in relation to others. Here, socio spatial
boundaries become other dimensional and the self becomes a collection of photos. What does it
mean to be an individual? What identity does the individual give to their community? Pat Power s
notions or creative play, Luc Robene and Dominique Bodin, among many philosophers, thoroughly

Van Gogh Influences
Other Influences on Vincent Van Gogh s Works As it was mentioned moving to Paris in 1886
had a great impact on Van Gogh s works. Impressionism and post impressionism also played a
significant role in forming his unique style with usage of vibrant and vivid colors. Japanese
printworks are also important to mention as Van Gogh adopt some of their aspects and
elements which appeared in his works (Vieira et al. 119). Moreover, there were other artists and
painters who played a vital role in shaping Van Gogh s style. Among them, there are Pissarro,
Bernard, and Gauguin, among others. The fact that Van Gogh was once a missionary helped him
to be identified by other people especially the lower class ones thus improving his career. For
instance, he insisted that the farmers and other laborers were worthy people what is an aspect

For instance, he focused on bringing out personality of an individual as opposed to just settling
for the physical appearance. Following this technique, the painting created acquired the

painting nature and landscapes (Desborde and Kimball 30). He formulated a connection which
allowed him to depict nature on a broader perspective. For instance, Van Gogh painted
overgrown gardens and other forms of plants. Several aspects and themes turned out to be vivid
in his works. For instance, vibrant colors through the use of diverse brush strokes proved Van
Gogh s work to be unique in terms of master and perfection of the technique. This aspect has also
been quite evident as it has strongly influenced modern forms of art work. In the same manner,
emotions and expressions have also been seen among his works as brought out by the colors

The Characteristics of a Coach
Everyone in society should be a role model, not only for their own self respect, but for respect
from others. ~ Barry Bonds. In this world bad situations occur frequently and it takes a good
strong person to handle them in a mature way. Dealing with them this way not only shows that
the person has self control, but also makes them a good role model for people to look up to. In the
book The Chosen, Chaim Potok uses Mr. Galanter to express his opinions of a good role model.

Cultural Criticism Of Griselda Pollock
In this essay I will be discussing and critically evaluating Griselda Pollock s comment while
referencing gender and/or body in the broad spectrum while referencing two works of art.
Pollock s comment I will be evaluating is Deconstructing discursive formation leads to the
production of radical knowledges which contaminate the seemingly ungendered domains of art
history by insisting that sex is everywhere. The canon becomes visible as an enunciation of Western
masculinity, itself saturated by its own traumatised sexual formation... In the same gesture we
confirm that the sexual difference structures women s social positions, cultural practices, and

This painting was known as Cassatt s strongest and wittiest feminist scene during the latter part
of 1880 (. Even though in this point of history, woman has more freedom and were allowed to go
the Opera, they had to be escorted. One of the main parts of the opera was women being put on
display, they would dress up and wear lots of jewelry and show off the appropriate amount of
skin. While on the other hand men wore black suits to do the opposite, they wanted to blend in
within the loge so they wouldn t be seen. Cassatt s painting took a different take of the
stereotypical representation of women in the loge. The painting shows a woman in the
foreground of the picture watching the opera intently, which is out of sight with her binoculars,
unaccompanied. She is shown holding a fan in her left hand, the fan is a symbol of her
femininity, the fan is a female instrument and it was used as feminine language which was shown
to be more refined than actually speaking, but we can see that she holds sternly rather than
graceful and feminine. She is holding the fan almost like a weapon, thus letting people know that
she wants to be left alone. In the background we can see a male figure watching her instead of the
opera. She is not receptive to, or perhaps even conscious of, this male gaze. She thus conveys the
sense of herself as an actively engaged woman who exists independently of men and their
objectifying gaze; she is

Metaphors In American Childhood
We could have ran through every backyard in North America until we got to Panama (Dillard 48).
This is just one of Dillard s many metaphors throughout the novel that portrays a deep awareness of
space and time. Through metaphors Dillard captures a true depth in the novel that regular sentences
can not obtain. Normal sentences might pull a reader in, however metaphors can truly captivate the
reader to imagine all new possibilities. Dillard shows through metaphors of sight, time, and
understandingthat as you grow older your awareness of time and spacedeepens in understanding.
Sight is one of the few senses that a young child is able to use freely. A young child can have an
outlook that looks completely different than what an adult has. In An American Childhood,
Dillard explores her Pittsburgh and sees many things including, which she describes as, a black
phalanx (34). This metaphor is explicit because a phalanx is meant for a mass of people, not a
few nuns that are walking down the street. Phalanx describes these nuns well because it is a word
Dillard attributes to something she sees as unknown and mystifying. The mystifying nuns represent
one of the first real things that Dillard sees in Pittsburgh that frightens her. Dillard uses this
metaphor as a sign of fear when amongst the nuns, but the reader can see through her word choice
that the awareness she has of the world is pretty open. Dillard is able to see nuns in her travels and
think deeply about her thoughts.

Differences Between Hamlet And The Lion King
Fairy tales have helped children deal with things they fear. Now a days, the fairy tales children are
aware are not the Hans Christian Anderson, Studio Ghibli or Brothers Grimm, but Disney. Disney
has taken the typification portrayal in the fairy tales, make it a reality and took it to entertainment

neglected these stories origin and motive. Many agree and have picked up The Lion King,
Disney s most watched and victorious movie till date, as Disney s only original movie; the only
movie which is previously has not been a fairy tale. However, this is not the true. While The
Lion King may not be based on a fairy tale, it is a matter of fact strongly based on the play by
William Shakespeare called Hamlet . Disney creative writers adroitly disguise the basic character...

Public Safety Management At Public Service
Public Safety Leadership
Unit 8 Assignment 1
Ann Marie Cameron

June 7, 2015
Introduction
In today s world a leader in any position must lead, but a leader in the public safety field must be
capable of managing, as well as being able to understand and identify a crisis. Within the public
safety arena having this type of leadership skills have become progressively necessary as global
disasters and other crisis has been on the rise in the past decade. Nonetheless, leaders that tackle
the crisis leadership concept sometimes tends to mainly focus on how crisis organization is
perceived verses focus on the associations which is more of a tactical way of leadership.

We also hope that the research will define how often we should conduct this type of research since

research.
Literature Review
For this research literature review we opted to set our context of this research that will concentrate
on two questions which are: 1) Crisis leadership, and 2) leadership issues that might occur during a
crisis and the organizations differentiating goals.
Understanding the meaning of Crisis leadership Before we move on with our research we need to
define what crisis leader should do. Well, James and Wooten (2005), states that a crisis leader
should always be scanning the environment to detect signals of crisis. Therefore, once a leader has
detected a crisis, then the leader should implement steps that should include: containment and
damage control for their communities safety; prevention and preparation; learning from past
events; and recovery. There are some leaders that believe that not all public safety leaders have
learned their lesson from other analyzation or research studies on crisis. Thereby, crisis leadership
requires that decision to be made quickly to limit damage to the community, employees,
stakeholders, and organization ( Crisis Management , n.d.). So, if we cannot prevent this type of

Vehicle Enhancements Research Paper
Vehicle Enhancements Do you want your vehicle to reach a higher top speed than expected, but
do not know what enhancements to use for it to be done safely? Although there are many
upgrades that can improve speed, you also need to improve down force and weight reduction to
reach maximum potential. If the three of these are not done, then when reaching high speeds the
vehicle may flip because it does not have the proper down force it needs to hold it to the ground.
When the car has too much weight it could keep it from reaching the highest possible speedit can
handle. So how can we first improve speed?
To most people, speed is the only thing a car or truck needs to win a race. One way to help
enhance the speed is to add a multitude of parts, some of which are as follows: Super charger,
nitrous, turbo, and performance chips. These are just a few of the many options one may run into.
Super chargers increase the power of an engine (Harris, William). They do this by increasing the
pressure or density of air supplied to an internal combustion engine. Another way that is also

but not make your vehicle too light is by acquiring and installing fiberglass body panels, aluminum

Argumentative Essay On Energy
Energy is not free! Our homes contain many, many systems that need energy. These systems come
with tons of costs that we may now have become used to. Energy has been costing us so much
money that we may not even notice it anymore. Every year, much of the energy the U.S. consumes
is wasted through transmission, heatloss and inefficient technology costing American families (U.S.
Department of Energy). We have heatingsystems, cooling systems, water heating systems,
appliances, and machines that all use the energy that costs us so much. It doesn t have to be that
way; if we learned to use our energy sources and their systems more efficiently we could save
ourselves tons of money. We have heating systems that cost us. These heating systems are designed
to heat our entire house. In many homes like mine we use heating systems powered by natural gas.
Other homes may have heating systems that run off of energy sources like wood, oil, sunlight,
electricity, or propane. The most common used sources of energy for heating systems include
natural gas and electricity. Systems that use natural gas or electricity to carry out their jobs
include electric resistance heating, furnaces, and boilers. These systems use the electricity or
natural gas we provide them with every time they are in use. Because all of these systems use
energy there is room to save, we can make sure that we use them only when we need to and are
keeping them up to date with the latest energy saving

Go Ask Alice Is Written By An Anonymous Author Essay
The novel Go ask Alice is written by an anonymous author and is based on a diary kept by a
conventional teenager who then turns into a suicidal drug addict. What happens to Alice at one
unsavoury party changed her life forever. She is invited to Jill s party, someone she doesn t
know well, where her drink is unknowingly spiked with LSD. Not long after that Alice amassed a
dependence on drugs, for example she was unable to last even a few days sober. The author of
the diary, Alice, has a raw style and format of writing that fascinated me. The writing style
exposed real emotions, and did not hold back. It was as if Alice was talking to her best friend
and thought that no one would see her diary. I also think that because I am a teenager and so is
Alice I was able to relate to the life she had and the pressures she feels. Alice taught me that even
saying yes once to drugs, could lead to life threatening consequences. The themes I noticed were,
the influence of the media, the highs and lows of teenage life and the dangers of druguse.
Something I found unique about the book was the style and format. Go ask Alice is one of the
few books I have read that was written in diary form, I liked the way that it skipped from one
day to the next yet still kept making sense. I also enjoyed the way the writer described the highs
on drugs, as not many other books with powerful moral messages surrounding the dangers of drugs
actually expose what it is like to be on drugs. The book s honesty

Coxswain Qualification Essay
The Coxswain qualification is one of the hardest fought for qualification of a Boatswain mates
career. For a Reservist to obtain this qualification it is even harder. The Coast Guard has tried to
ease this by allowing Reservists to attend Coxswain C school. However, while they are attending
the school, another policy is quietly wading in the waters for the perfect time to strike. This is the
policy that states that the hours these members earn while underway on a standard Coast Guard
boat, while at school, do not count towards their currency maintenance hours for the crewman
qualification that they are operating under while at the school. In District 9, most of these members
end up losing their certifications after returning to their units because there is not enough time left
in the boating season to obtain the hours they need to retain their qualification. This is causing a
time consuming process to recertify, it is demoralizing to the member, and it is a waste of Coast
Guard money. If the hours counted while at Coxswain C school for currency maintenance
requirements, the school would be more beneficial for the member and the member would be more

The Uk Constitution And The United States
Often the UK constitution is asserted to be the most unique in the world, as its sources are a piece
of historical significance as they come from great British heritage. From the case of Jackson and
others v Her Majesty s Attorney General, Lord Steyn stated that We do not in the UK have an
uncontrolled constitution. In general terms a person may judge the UK constitution to be
uncontrolled due to it being unwritten, as it is derived from a wide range of sources. Which vary
from common law to international treaties. However on the other side of the spectre, a written
constitution is one like the USA s, embodied into a single document. Putting aside the fact that the
UK constitution is from a variety of different sources, it must be verified that it has worked
successfully to this date from 1689 when the supremacy of parliament over the crown was
introduced, following the glorious revolution. It can also be said that, why would the UK
constitution be classed as uncontrolled, if it has worked for hundreds of years and it is still going
strong.
A constitution is generally there for one purpose, it sets out the framework and principal functions
of the organs of government and by setting out these functions the UK has been growing and
adapting. We in other words have an evolutionary constitution. If it ever came to a time where a
written constitution was enacted, it would indeed disrupt the infrastructure of the UK as they are
inflexible. Clear inflexibility is shown by

Summary Of The Blue Bouquet
One might think it a good quality to be a trusting person; someone who takes whatever is given to
them as sincere and never looks beyond what they are told. Upon reading The Blue Bouquet this
thought is diminished as the protagonist finds himself in a dangerous situation due to his lack of
awareness and disregard to warnings. In his state of ignorance, symbols are utilized to demonstrate
his lack of knowledge; however, as the story progresses, the change within the protagonist towards
wisdom becomes apparent. This newly gained realization and loss of the initial feeling of security
he possessed, is shown in his actions following an encounter with a criminal. In Paz s short story,
the reader learns the humbling effect of becoming selfaware and how it gears an individual s
transition from innocence to experience.
As the protagonist aimlessly wanders at night through the town streets, the reader is able to pick
up on symbols, as well as foreshadowing that show that the protagonist is not only inexperienced
but on the road to misfortune. When the protagonist decides to go on his walk he is warned that
it is unsafe to do so by the one eyed owner of the boardinghouse; however, he shrugs it off and
decides to go anyway. The unexplained mentioning of the owners missing eye suggests that there
is reasoning for his words and hints towards what is to come if the protagonist disregards his
cautions. His reckless behaviour also indicates that while innocently trusting his surroundings he
feels as if he knows everything. The protagonist then steps outside and is engulfed by the darkness
of night; he is blindly stumbling along the cobblestone street. The author pairs the symbols of
night and darkness to suggest the unknown chaos and danger that the protagonist is on route for.
In addition, blindness is used to suggest his ignorance and limited senses. Lastly, the narrator
describes a white wall that was crumbled in places (p.163) and how he was blinded by such
whiteness. (p.163) The colour white is a sign for innocence hence making the crumbling of the wall
reveal the upcoming loss of the protagonist s innocence through the means of trauma. These
portrayals of ignorance and innocence are not only recognisable by the

Group Observation
Our topic of this presentation is introducing a non profit organization and we choose to run an
organization which is helping the underprivileged children. Our organization is called Shield for
Children. We worked as a team and finished this presentation together. We had a lot of troubles at
the beginning. For example, we have different opinions on the meeting timesince we both had our
own busy schedule. As a result, we couldn t grouptogether and discussed about the presentation.
However, we opened a What s app Group and we could communicate with each other easier inside
that application. So we could able to finish the presentation at the end. Other than that, some people
in our group are not willing to work at first since they had another... Show more content on

Some people are the informative giver, they provide extra information during the group
discussions. They helped our group discussion become more informative. Some people are the
Administrator, always lists out a content which makes sure our discussion is on track.
Sometimes we might play more than one role at the same time. For example, Maggie is an
administrator and information giver. She kept our discussion on track and provided different
information which help us to prepare the presentation. John is an elaborator and sensor, he
elaborated our point and present it on the PowerPoint. When we worked so hard and our
productivity were too low, he will ask for a break. So that we can take a rest and have a great
performance after that. Enson is an initiator, he always gives some new ideas that helped us to
solve different kinds of problems such as he suggests us to provide learning chances and
materials instead of playing to the underprivileged children. Alex is a gatekeeper, he makes sure
everyone in the group have the chance to speak and present their idea about the underprivileged
children. For me, I think I am an initiator. It is because I suggest some ways to advertise our
organization like the Facebook page and the website. However, I am an avoider at the same time
since sometimes I didn t take the presentation very

Women In Richard III
What are the functions of the three female characters in Richard iii? How do they shape the plot
by their interactions with Richard? Shakespeare uses female characters in his plays to illustrate a
point or affect the plot, just like in Richard III. The world that Shakespeare shows us in Richard III
is a man s world. Women are presented as being on the sidelines to grieve, complain, or bury the
dead. Richard views women as instruments, as shown when he announces his plots to the audience.
For example, the marriage with Anne and Elizabeth are only moves in his quest of intrigue and
power. There are three main females characters that affect the plot with their interactions with the
main character. They are Anne, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Margaret.... Show more content on

His mother says ... Shame serves thy life and doth thy death attend... (Act IV, Scene 4, l.2986);
even though she is his mother, she sees what Richard has done and does not approve of it. She is
a character that reminds Richard that he is constantly wrong and he came ... on earth to make
the earth my hell... (Act IV, Scene 4, l.15). She has very strong feelings of revenge towards
Richard, like most of the females in the play, but is powerless in front of him. Women in Richard
III often see through his intrigues and predict dramatic consequences from his acts. Shakespeare
uses the women to point out moral truths and emphasize general principles of moral and political
order. Anne, Elizabeth, the Duchess and Margaret each contribute in furthering Shakespeare s
moral themes in three ways: through their roles as victims, in their cries for revenge, and in
alluding to a higher moral order that transcends men s actions. They represent morals in society
even though they are powerless. The character of King Richard III is perhaps Shakespeare s most
evil creation. Shakespeare provides a contrast to Richard s villainy, women. They function as
voices of protest and morality; they add conflict and tension to the plot and represent all the
suffering caused by Richard to the

The Effects of Heroin Addiction
Heroin is illegal and highly addictive. (Dupont, 1997). It remains as the most common drug
among drug, among all the opiates (Lalander, 2003). The opiate is made from morphine.
Morphine occurs naturally in seed pops of various poppy plants. In most cases, it is sold as a brown
or black sticky powder. Currently, purer forms of heroinare becoming more common in the streets
today (Research Council of Norway, 2013).
Many heroin addicts usually inject or smoke it. On average, a heroin addict may inject three or
four times in a day. The intravenous injection has been associated with the greatest intensity by
heroin users. It is associated with an immense rapid onset of euphoria. When smoked or even
puffed, peak effects are experienced after ten to fifteen minutes. Smoking or even puffing, does not
produce a rush effect (Research Council of Norway, 2013)
The United States survey on drug abuse has identified that, 2.4 million People in the country, had
used heroin at a point in their lives (Research Council of Norway, 2013). 130, 000 of them,
reported that they had used the substance a month before the survey. The report estimates that, in
the year 2012, there were around eighty one new users of heroin in the United States. A large
proportion of the users, were smoking or snorting heroin (Research Council of Norway, 2013).
Eighty seven percent of the users are under the age of twenty one years. The Drug Abuse Warning
Network (DAWN) collects information about drug related

Comparison Of Chuck And Teddy
In the film chuck and Teddy both share similar stature and body structure. Chuck s hair is dark,
but it is not curly in the least bit. Teddy s new partner s effeminate hands and the scar on his left
cheek are both left out entirely of the film. The absence of the scar means the dialogue pertaining
to its origin was also scrapped during the introductory process between the two detectives.
Although, there are subtle visual differences between the two Chucks the character of the original
is kept intact and transferred over appropriately. The mention of Chuck s oriental wife is also cut
from the film. So this means the hardships that Chuck s wife had to endure of both growing up
in a camp and later on being resented by her husband s peers eventually forcing them to relocate
was completely absent. Chuck s spouse is left a mystery and the film instead skips to asking Teddy
about his girl. What about you? You got a girl, married? (From movie)... Show more content on

After the short recollection Teddy explains that she died. Then Teddy goes out of his way to
explain what happened telling his partner about the fire and how four people died. He points out
this all took place while he was away on business and that it was the smoke that got her not the
flames which he insists is important. In the book it mentions that discussing the painful past is
essential while meeting a new person. But it was like Chuck s scar, he supposed the story that had
to be dispensed with before they could move on, or otherwise it would always be between them.

Buddy Bolden Research Paper
The person whom invented Jazz was born in uptown New Orleans on September 6, 1877 to Alice
and Westmore Bolden. Charles Buddy Bolden grew up in one of the most musically rich cities in
all of the United States during the time, and it would have great influence in his life. As a young
man, Buddy made money as a barber, however his heart was truly in his music. The cornet was his
instrument, and he could play like nobody else. He was famously known as The King because of
how well he played the cornet, as well as his public demand and popularity. Buddy s playing
married all of the contemporary popular styles of music, creating something never before heard,
Jazz. Jazz music emerged from the confluence of New Orleans s diverse musical

Financial Advisors
As with many careers, financial planning requires an education. Financial advisors normally have
a bachelor s degree, but a master s degree adds credibility ( Financial Advisor ) . Some schools
that give you these degrees are Boston University, the College of Financial Planning, Texas Tech
University, and San Diego State University(Chandler). There are many degrees you can take in
those schools. Some are actuarial science, finance, accounting, business and law. Economics
include agricultural and business economics ( Financial Advisor ). You can take all of those
classes, but finance is the number one degree that employers want, as reported by the National
Association of Colleges and Employers. The classroom provides the foundation of the learning...

The most important thing financial advisors have to do is earn the trust of their clients ( Career
Opportunities ). What they do everyday is this: Dave Spano says that the first thing he does is
check his calendar for the day. His day usually consists of three meetings. In those meetings they
review people s financial plans and investment portfolios. The rest of the day usually consists of
communication with employees, clients, and others via email, phone, and face to face meetings
. Dave Spano also says some skill s a financial planner needs is to be really good at math,
understanding pre algebra and being a good communicator. Dave Spano says the workplace is fun,
open, and has lots of activity (Spano). The first thing you should do when you are in the financial
planning process is to assemble information, then you should organize your financial goals and
objectives, then you should process and analyze the information, then you should advise a plan,
then you should start the plan, then finally, you should keep watching the plan and making sure it
is doing fine (Curley). The workplace is always fun for a financial advisor.
If a person thinks about their career, they will think something like this. An advantage to financial
advising is that you can feel good about helping people achieve their financial goals (Spano). I
think this will feel very good because it feels great to help people. A

Colonial American Hardships
Colonial Americans faced many hardships as they came to the new land and established the new
country. These hardships were explained and told in the writings of John smith, Phillis Wheatley,
and Anne Bradstreet. As these writers were primary sources, meaning they experienced the
suffering and privation first hand, you can have a better understanding of what it was like for
them, or the people during that era. These colonists had suffered a great amount. Either these
colonists did not know how to hunt for game, they did not know how to farm correctly, they were
slaves, or had troubles with many other things. Which had led to many of these colonists having
to suffer in many different ways, such as from the lack of proper nutrition, being diseased, or
from the vicious beatings of their owners. Many colonist s lost their lives, starved, and did not
know how to live when they found or were coming to the new land. There were many different
types of hardships that the people of that era endured. Each writer had their own rough experience
they spoke about in their writings.
One of the writers who wrote about the hardships they had experienced was John Smith. Captain
John Smith was a soldier and the governor of Jamestown. In Smith s writings, he speaks mostly
about the colonization coming to the new land. He and his men believed they were going to build a
successful colony. But due to disease, famine, and the occasional attacks from the neighboring
Powhatan Indians, and

Adaptation Of The African Queen
This is a British American Movie that was acted in 1951 and this was an adaptation of the novel
The African Queen that was written in 1935 by C.S Forester. The director of this film is John
Huston and the producers were John Woolf and Sam Spiegel. The characters Samuel Sayer and
his sister Rose are missionaries from Britain who have gone on a mission in Kungdu, a village
of German s colony in East Africa just when the First World War had started. All the supplies and
mails are delivered by a small boat that uses steam and it is named African Queen and it is
driven by a rough Canadian who has an intolerable behavior and whose name is Charllie. He
warns these two missionaries that there is war between Germany and Britain but they choose not
to escape but rather remain and thus witness how the Germans burn down completely their
mission center and capture all the villagers into slavery. Samuel decides to show protest against
this evil acts and he is eventually captured and beaten brutally by the German soldiers and this is
the eventual cause of his death (Huston Agee). There is a lot of enmity displayed by the Germans
against the British and to the Africans and thus it is suicidal to pass through or near a German
fortress. Everything is just too dangerous in this movie especially where the Germans are
concerned. When Rose and Chrilie decide to navigate to the Ulanga River, they have to pass
through a German fortress where they are harassed in addition to the three sets of

Growing a garden The black bean seeds were planted in a pot, which contained soil from the backyard vegetable garden and cow manure. The pot was placed outside, in the shade of other plants in the backyard. By day eight the seeds had not germinated; therefore the pot was moved where it would get more than six hours of direct sunlight a day, which was the suggested amount required (Grow This, 2016, para. 3). With enough sunlight and the soil being watered each day the seeds germinated by day sixteen. The growth then became very rapid; however, there were signs of bugs eating the leaves due to the holes that could be seen. A bug spray was applied to the plant in the hope that the plant will survive. This spray was used twice a week and helped keep the bugs away and allowed the leaves to continue to grow. The black bean plant was exposed to a hot and dry Summer. By planting the black bean in a pot, it meant that shade could be applied when the harsh weather was due to arrive (Tuton, 2010, para. 3). For instance, vibrant colors through the use of diverse brush strokes proved Van Gogh s work to be unique in terms of master and perfection of the technique. This aspect has also been quite evident as it has strongly influenced modern forms of art work. Cultural Criticism Of Griselda Pollock In this essay I will be discussing and critically evaluating Griselda Pollock s comment while referencing gender and/or body in the broad spectrum while referencing two works of art. Pollock s comment I will be evaluating is Deconstructing discursive formation leads to the production of radical knowledges which contaminate the seemingly ungendered domains of art history by insisting that sex is everywhere. The canon becomes visible as an enunciation of Western masculinity, itself saturated by its own traumatised sexual formation... Even though in this point of history, woman has more freedom and were allowed to go the Opera, they had to be escorted. One of the main parts of the opera was women being put on display, they would dress up and wear lots of jewelry and show off the appropriate amount of skin. While on the other hand men wore black suits to do the opposite, they wanted to blend in within the loge so they wouldn t be seen. Cassatt s painting took a different take of the stereotypical representation of women in the loge. The painting shows a woman in the foreground of the picture watching the opera intently, which is out of sight with her binoculars, unaccompanied. She is shown holding a fan in her left hand, the fan is a symbol of her femininity, the fan is a female instrument and it was used as feminine language which was shown to be more refined than actually speaking, but we can see that she holds sternly rather than graceful and feminine. She is holding the fan almost like a weapon, thus letting people know that she wants to be left alone. In the background we can see a male figure watching her instead of the opera. She is not receptive to, or perhaps even conscious of, this male gaze. She thus conveys the sense of herself as an actively engaged woman who exists independently of men and their objectifying gaze; she is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Metaphors In American Childhood We could have ran through every backyard in North America until we got to Panama (Dillard 48). This is just one of Dillard s many metaphors throughout the novel that portrays a deep awareness of space and time. Through metaphors Dillard captures a true depth in the novel that regular sentences can not obtain. Normal sentences might pull a reader in, however metaphors can truly captivate the reader to imagine all new possibilities. Dillard shows through metaphors of sight, time, and understandingthat as you grow older your awareness of time and spacedeepens in understanding. Sight is one of the few senses that a young child is able to use freely. A young child can have an outlook that looks completely different than what an adult has. In An American Childhood, Dillard explores her Pittsburgh and sees many things including, which she describes as, a black phalanx (34). This metaphor is explicit because a phalanx is meant for a mass of people, not a few nuns that are walking down the street. Phalanx describes these nuns well because it is a word Dillard attributes to something she sees as unknown and mystifying. The mystifying nuns represent one of the first real things that Dillard sees in Pittsburgh that frightens her. Dillard uses this metaphor as a sign of fear when amongst the nuns, but the reader can see through her word choice that the awareness she has of the world is pretty open. Dillard is able to see nuns in her travels and think deeply about her thoughts. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Understanding the meaning of Crisis leadership Before we move on with our research we need to define what crisis leader should do. Well, James and Wooten (2005), states that a crisis leader should always be scanning the environment to detect signals of crisis. Therefore, once a leader has detected a crisis, then the leader should implement steps that should include: containment and damage control for their communities safety; prevention and preparation; learning from past events; and recovery. There are some leaders that believe that not all public safety leaders have learned their lesson from other analyzation or research studies on crisis. Thereby, crisis leadership requires that decision to be made quickly to limit damage to the community, employees, stakeholders, and organization ( Crisis Management , n.d.). Although there are many upgrades that can improve speed, you also need to improve down force and weight reduction to reach maximum potential. If the three of these are not done, then when reaching high speeds the vehicle may flip because it does not have the proper down force it needs to hold it to the ground. When the car has too much weight it could keep it from reaching the highest possible speedit can handle. So how can we first improve speed? To most people, speed is the only thing a car or truck needs to win a race. One way to help enhance the speed is to add a multitude of parts, some of which are as follows: Super charger, nitrous, turbo, and performance chips. These are just a few of the many options one may run into. Super chargers increase the power of an engine (Harris, William). In District 9, most of these members end up losing their certifications after returning to their units because there is not enough time left in the boating season to obtain the hours they need to retain their qualification. The Uk Constitution And The United States Often the UK constitution is asserted to be the most unique in the world, as its sources are a piece of historical significance as they come from great British heritage. From the case of Jackson and others v Her Majesty s Attorney General, Lord Steyn stated that We do not in the UK have an uncontrolled constitution. In general terms a person may judge the UK constitution to be uncontrolled due to it being unwritten, as it is derived from a wide range of sources. Which vary from common law to international treaties. However on the other side of the spectre, a written constitution is one like the USA s, embodied into a single document. Putting aside the fact that the UK constitution is from a variety of different sources, it must be verified that it has worked successfully to this date from 1689 when the supremacy of parliament over the crown was introduced, following the glorious revolution. It can also be said that, why would the UK constitution be classed as uncontrolled, if it has worked for hundreds of years and it is still going strong. A constitution is generally there for one purpose, it sets out the framework and principal functions of the organs of government and by setting out these functions the UK has been growing and adapting. • 39. Summary Of The Blue Bouquet One might think it a good quality to be a trusting person; someone who takes whatever is given to them as sincere and never looks beyond what they are told. Upon reading The Blue Bouquet this thought is diminished as the protagonist finds himself in a dangerous situation due to his lack of awareness and disregard to warnings. In his state of ignorance, symbols are utilized to demonstrate his lack of knowledge; however, as the story progresses, the change within the protagonist towards wisdom becomes apparent. This newly gained realization and loss of the initial feeling of security he possessed, is shown in his actions following an encounter with a criminal. In Paz s short story, the reader learns the humbling effect of becoming selfaware and how it gears an individual s transition from innocence to experience. As the protagonist aimlessly wanders at night through the town streets, the reader is able to pick up on symbols, as well as foreshadowing that show that the protagonist is not only inexperienced but on the road to misfortune. When the protagonist decides to go on his walk he is warned that it is unsafe to do so by the one eyed owner of the boardinghouse; however, he shrugs it off and decides to go anyway. The unexplained mentioning of the owners missing eye suggests that there is reasoning for his words and hints towards what is to come if the protagonist disregards his cautions. His reckless behaviour also indicates that while innocently trusting his surroundings he feels as if he knows everything. The protagonist then steps outside and is engulfed by the darkness of night; he is blindly stumbling along the cobblestone street. The author pairs the symbols of night and darkness to suggest the unknown chaos and danger that the protagonist is on route for. In addition, blindness is used to suggest his ignorance and limited senses. Lastly, the narrator describes a white wall that was crumbled in places (p.163) and how he was blinded by such whiteness.
