Ready For Nursery School
When searching for the perfect nursery school for your child, you want a place that will nurture
him or her but will prepare them for entrance into kindergarten. It s important to find a balance
between a fun, interactive learning center and a place where they ll be comfortable.
Research
Think about your priorities before starting your research. If you want a place rich in play or one
that is geared towards learning, you ll need to decide before your search. If you have friends and
family with small children, don t be afraid to ask for recommendations. You might also find out
about nursery schools that wouldn t be a good fit. You can look online for nursery schools, or
check your neighborhood for schools that are close by your home or work. ... Show more content on

While some parents might put their child into a nursery school from the time of birth, you shouldn
t wait too long. If your child will be ready for nursery school next year, start looking at places now.
You want time to make a researched and informed decision.
Activities for Kids
When researching and touring facilities, make sure you know what kind of learning you d like for
your child. Some activities for kids are geared towards fun playtime. Other activities are meant to
foster their intellect. If your child will be entering kindergarten, it s important to think about the
requirements for entering that grade level. The child will need at least the basics before entering
kindergarten, so be sure that the nursery school provides some of that learning.
Trust Your Intuition
While many nursery schools are wonderful facilities for your child, others might seem a bit
unsuitable. Even if you can t pinpoint the source of your unease, don t put your child into a place
that you don t love. You shouldn t have any reservations about the care your child will receive. You
want to be absolutely sure that the school you choose will make your child happy and set them up
for success as they continue their

Internet Freedom And Political Oppression
An immensely prominent aspect of today s society is technology, which has provided the world
with the internet. Though the internet has provided many positive benefits, it has also brought
along many negative aspects. In Evgeny Morozov s article, Technology s Role in Revolution.
Internet Freedom and Political Oppression the authors argument revolves around cyber utopianism
and realism in regard to the internets actual function. Morozov s article attempts to convince the
reader the internetis a rather negative tool due to how the function of the internet has been more
beneficial to governments by allowing the spread of propaganda and legitimacy, and its aid in
authoritarianism. Morozov mainly focuses on how many people often seem to forget how the
internet carries negative aspects, resulting in cyber utopianism, a naГЇve belief in the emancipatory
nature of online communication that rests on a stubborn refusal to acknowledge its downsides.
Morozov argues that cyber utopianism is not a realistic way of viewing the internet due to how the
internet operates throughout different countries and because of the effect the internet has had on
authoritarianism. Instead of the internet being a tool for the oppressed, Morozov suggests that it
has become a bigger aid to governments. Though I do think that the internet is an important aid in
helping with world issues, I do agree that there are more negative consequences. This is evident
considering some countries barely have access

Bose Corporation Is A Massachusetts Based Global Supplier...
Bose Corporation is a Massachusetts based global supplier of consumer electronics. Founded in
1964 by MIT professor Dr. Amar Bose, the company s strategy has been to combine technology
with creative people to develop products that offer high performance and are simple to use, yet
sophisticated (Moody, 1991). Bose prides itself on its creativity and innovation in producing
quality audio components, like stereos, noise canceling headsets and premier automobile stereo
systems. Bose is also known for pioneering the concept of Just In Time II (JIT II), a customer
supplier partnership concept that is now practiced by other major companies and their suppliers.
This case study analyzes some of the major components of Bose s supply managementstrategy and
processes, including the implementation of JIT II.
Performance Measurement System
According to the Purchasing and Supply Chain Management textbook, Supplier performance
measurement includes the requisite methods and systems to collect and provide information to
measure, rate, or rank supplier performance on an ongoing basis (324). Bose has developed a
detailed supplier performance system that measures on time delivery, quality performance, technical
improvements, and supplier suggestions (Schulz, 2016). Twice a month, Bose generates a report
providing feedback to suppliers about their performance. If necessary, Bose uses these
measurements to establish goals for improvement for that supplier to attain. It would be beneficial

Adherence Of Chronic Disease Article Essay
INTRODUCTION I decided to write about the Adherence to Chronic Disease article because
people do not see how important is to follow the doctors orders. When somebody is in pain he or
she immediately goes to the hospital expecting to get better and feel nothing the next day. Some
do not even go until the pain is unbearable. People need to realize that our bodies do not work that
way. The damage that we had caused cannot be repaired in a couple of hours, but it takes months
even years to treat some illness. And to get positive results people have to follow the treatment.
Adherence is extremely important, especially for the prevention and control of cardiovascular
disease.
In the article, it mentions the results of non adherence like the growth of hospitalizations, deaths
and it also mentions the increasing costs of care. To avoid those results, there are some known
adherence barriers like counting the number of medications given per fill or the number of visits to
the pharmacy monthly but these are mostly being used by individual health care delivery
organizations or managed care plans. But the implementation of achievable mechanisms of control
to evaluate and monitor are needed. The New York State (NYS) Department of Health, the New
York City (NYC) Health Department created a method to evaluate adherence among NYC
Medicaid participants and to manage future interventions.

The Benjamin Franklin
Benjamin Franklin
In our American history many figures have left their mark, and are remembered still today.
Benjamin Franklin was as famous as any president, but yet never elected to public office. He was
one of the nation s revolutionary founding fathers of all time. Benjamin Franklin was a respected
hero of America of many talents and accomplishments. First of all, Benjamin Franklin was born at
Boston in 1706. He was the tenth sibling in the family. He was the son of a soap and candle
maker. Josiah would father seventeen children in total after having two wives. Franklin had
received some education while young, but would continue learn self taught (Quick Biography of
Benjamin Franklin.) The boy then would serve working with his father. Franklin went later to
work for his brother James as a printer (Benjamin Franklin His Autobiography 1706 1757.) After
helping his brother making pamphlets and other activities. He then would start to sell the products
in the streets. When Franklin was fifteen the New England Courant was founded. The first
newspaper more or less in Boston. While other news came reprinted from abroad. The New
England Courant held articles of opinions, advertisements, and ship schedules. Benjamin also
wanted to write for the paper; yet he know his brother would not let him (Quick Biography of

The Ottawa Light Rail Transit
The Ottawa Light Rail Transit Project
Introduction:
The roadways of Ottawa, Ontario have been become battered and congested due to the poor
infrastructure of public transit. There have been many proposed temporary short term solutions for
the issue such as toll roads, public transit route optimization and rapid road rehabilitation. But
ultimately, the plan is to implement an expansion to the Ottawa Light Rail Transit (OLRT) system
and widen Highway 417. There are many requirements in order to achieve such a task so, this report
will outline the guidelines of the procurement processes after issuing the Request for Proposal
(RFP) for the OLRT project from the City of Ottawa.
The City of Ottawa s first RFP was published October 27, 2011 [XX11]. The report stated that a
private sector team began preliminary research for the expansion of the OLRT system in
September of 2010 following the approval of Federal and Provincial government funding before
the initial procurement process was issued. The project adopts a Design, Build, Finance, and
Maintenance (DBFM) model which allows multiple companies to place a bid on the RFP. With
many options the city is then open to make a choice the contract which will be reported on in the
upcoming (sections).
Following the RFP, the City of Ottawa must choose a contract for the post. The RFP outlines the
the procurement process and states that the purchase of construction services must be in accordance

Japanese Americans had to leave the zone by direct and indirect force, and the government passed
the law which gave the military authority to move Nisei and Issei (34). Along with that, the
Executive Order 9012, passed in March, created the War Relocation Authority (WRA) (35). The
WRA s job was to take charge of the internees after they were moved to the camps (35). The
Japanese American Citizen League (JACL) tried to fight against it. However, because it was too
young and they were afraid that Americans would think they were really spies if they won t
cooperate, JACL decided to follow WRA (36). Furthermore, in March 27, DeWitt issued Public
Proclamation Number 4 which forced persons of Japanese ancestry to stay in military zone 1 after
the end of the month, and on March 27, DeWitt issued Exclusion Order Number 1 in which persons
of Japanese ancestry were moved from Washington to camp in Manzanar, California (37). During
the war, there were more than 100 evacuation orders and, through this, the innocent Japanese
Americans suffered the consequences (37). Despite the abrupt news of internment, the Japanese
Americans managed to quickly adapt to the newly provided environment. One of the ways that the
Japanese Americans adapted to their new environment was by forming communities at the camps.
This is one of the first things that the evacuees did at the camps, and they, with WRA, did so by

God Bless You Mr Rosewater Essay
Comparing the Use of Satire in the Given Stories
God bless you Mr. Rosewater and Major Barbara s story are two satirical works of literature.
They have contributed to rising up great plots and story setting in the world of literature,
depicting varied characters and vivid descriptions of scenarios in the plays. Therefore, this paper
compares Major Barbara and God bless you Mr. Rosewater.
Satire is a work of literature that uses humor, which can be in the form of irony, ridicule and
exaggeration to criticize and expose other people s vices especially in politics and other important
issues in the society.
In God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater, the millionaire Eliot Rosewater is the rich founder and leader
of Rosewater Foundation, but we see him suffering due to his love for all people. He moves to
Rosewater, Indiana with all his wealth because he feels that is a better society. Mr. Rosewater
claims the paternity of all the children whose mothers place a claim to avoid surrendering the
leadership of the family business (Allen). On the other hand, in the story; Major Barbara, the
relationship between Stephen and his mother is satirical in the way she commands and always
complains to him about everything. The stage directions and the conversation between them such

Forest Kindergarten Case Study
Forest Kindergarten is a way in which to gain opportunities and build skills that children are not
going to get in a playground in a school. Forest Kindergarten has shown that children are less
stressed, have better concentration, less chance of being ill and gaining better motor skills. Within
20 years of Forest Kindergarten starting in Denmark, the amount of Forest Kindergarten has
doubled.
The factors from Forest Kindergarten that I found challenging was that there are no basis of health
and safety. Also, the Pedagogue says that the children must use their brains and that they should be
able to look after themselves. I found this hard as it is our responsibility to look after all children.
Furthermore, I do feel this is a weakness of the Forest Kindergarten as they should protect their
students within the kindergarten. The implications based for the ... Show more content on

However, I do feel that this is an impressive way in which to have education before starting primary
school. This is because the children are unaware that they are becoming responsible for their own
learning. The children have the freedom to climb trees, understand how to use a knife safely and
obey rules when going near areas where they are not allowed. I do feel that it really does benefit
the child, as they are able to start primary school with basic knowledge and understanding. Relating
to my placement to the Forest Kindergarten is that there are no links between the two. The
differences between my placement and the Forest Kindergarten is that within my job role I have a
responsibility in which to look after all my students. Also, it is known as wrapping my students in
cotton wool to make sure they do not hurt or injury themselves. Whereas, this is the total opposite
to Forest Kindergarten where there are no health and safety and no regulations, as the children can

Essay On Safe Haven Law
The Nebraska man who abandoned his nine children under the state s Safe Haven law last year
is expecting to become the father of twins Gary Staton has 37years old, became a single father in
February 2007 when his wife, Rebel Jane, died of a cerebral aneurysm shortly after giving birth to
the couple s ninth child. Unable to handle the burden alone, Staton made national news more than
a year later on Sept. 24 when he dropped off his children ages 1 to 17 at a hospital in Omaha. Even
though many people thing that is a crime, I agree with the infantsafe haven law because provide to
parents who are incapable to care the child a safe place to life and many children s are abandonate.
Safe haven laws allow the mother of a newborn infant the opportunity to surrender the child to
state custody without the fear of criminal charges or other legal entanglements. By making sure
that there are safe places for new mothers to go when they know that they cannot care for an
infant, the lives of many babies have been saved. Since every state has a version of the safe haven
law, it s important for any woman who is pregnant to know about this option.
These laws, enacted across the states in response to much publicized discoveries of dead and

Nuclear Contamination And The Atomic Bomb Testing
We retired early that evening, and slept well. With the pressure we had been under now
somewhat abated, we awoke the next morning rested and refreshed, ready for whatever the day
might bring. Stapleya and Wisceya were eager to see the wonders of Las Vegas. Estelle and Jill
had told them enough to pique their curiosity, although the fur girls insisted it was impossible
and we must be kidding them. Compared to their home world, I am sure our entire planet
seemed like an impossibility, so why they would balk at one more impossible thing, I could not
say. We pulled out of the motel parking lot before dawn and drove straight down Interstate 15
without stopping except to buy fuel or to answer nature s call. Although we had eschewed
Interstate highways in prior day s travels, we really had no choice now. Besides, we had no
reason to suspect Alex would be looking for us here. Passing through the St. George area, Estelle
remarked on the nuclear contamination in the area from the atomic bomb testing, and the many
diverse cases of cancer in the people living here then. Our extraterrestrial visitors became curious
as to those events which led us into a long discussion of warfare on Earth and the horrors it had
brought, and the worries and politics of Nuclear power. This occupied our conversation for many
miles as we lamented the missed potential, the waste and the suffering brought forth by the Nuclear
genie. We reached the Las Vegas metropolitan area without incident. Before leaving

Dna Editing System For A Type II Crispr System Mechanism
CRISPR/Cas9 DNA editing system is a prokaryotic immune system that becomes resistant to
foreign genetics such as plasmids. CRISPR stands for Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short
Palindromic Repeats, which are prokaryotic DNA strands that have a short repetition base
sequence. Cas9 is a nuclease enzyme that is used to cut into DNAstrands that are associated with
CRISPR type II. CRISPR/Cas9 system has several advantages when using this technology in the
biological and biomedical sciences. It also has a few disadvantages that cause concerns when
using this system in the medicine field. However, before all of this can be discussed, a depth of
what CRISPR/Cas9 is and where it comes from and why is it important to the biology field.
There are many highly diverse Cas (CRISPR associated) proteins but only one that is mainly
used, which is Cas9.1 Which Cas9 derivative is found on the gRNA that contains plasmid, which
are associated with CRISPRs type II in the bacterial immune system. Cas9 is an important asset
to a type II CRISPR system mechanism that is required for gene silencing. Cas9 protein engages
in the processing of crRNA and is also responsible for eliminating the target DNA in the type II

Freestanding Malls
I know that someone has used Freestanding sites (pg 185), but I will use that along with Enclosed
shopping malls (pg. 191) for comparing and contrasting. The company that I work for tends to
scope out available spaces to grow the company. They aren t particularly picky in the choices
that they make if they believe that the store will make them money. They want to be able to be
diverse in their locations and experience the best of both worlds. We have locations that come in
all different shapes and sizes. The most frequent being freestanding sites and also ones that are
enclosed in malls. Not alot of places down here have attractions inside of malls and I m not
exactly sure how it looks up north. It s interesting though because the foot traffic that comes along
with the stores based in malls is amazing. You can attract customers who weren t even planning to
come to the store, but they come in to check it out and end up spending money. In a sense, the
customers are planned for but that on top of loyal customers is really great. Our freestanding stores
do well on their own too. Only difference is that they depend on their loyal customers. The random

I believe though that malls have more downsides for our company. Being in mall there are rules
to follow. With renting property inside a mall, there tend be alot of rules that have to be

of the way attraction, we could either not be getting the business that we want because people
don t realize to come to a mall. People can t just drive by and see what we are. We don t have our
own private parking lot, we share a space with an entire mall. That can be inconvienient for a lot
of people. Some people just flat out don t like the mall and avoid it at all costs. Sometimes malls

The Two Main Hormone Drugs
What are the two main hormone drugs?
The two mainstream hormone drugs are progesterone and norgestrel. Progesterone and norgestrel
are drugs used to control the female hormones to aid in preventing pregnancy. Progesterone is a
steroid hormone released by the corpus luteum, which is a hormone secreting structure that
develops in an ovary after an ovum has been discharged but degenerates after a few days unless
pregnancy has begun, that stimulates the uterus to prepare for pregnancy. Hormones are chemical
messengers that are secreted directly into the blood, which carries them to organs and tissues of the

There are many types of birth control including condoms, IUDs, birth control pills, vasectomy,

sizes, with and without lube. They slip over the penis to prevent pregnancy and lower the risk of
STIs by keeping sperm inside of the condom and not in your vagina. An IUD (intrauterine

wrapped in copper or contains hormones. There is a plastic string tied to the of the IUD that
hangs down from the cervix into the vagina. You can check that the IUD is in place by feeling
for this string. The string is also used by your doctor to remove the IUD. There are two types of
IUDs, hormonal and copper IUD. The hormonal IUD prevents fertilization by damaging or killing
the sperm and making the mucus in the cervix big and gooey. It keeps the lining of the uterus
from growing very thick. That makes the lining a very poor place for a fertilized egg to implant

Reliability And Validity Of Interviews Essay
Then turn to interviews. Interviews are classed as a qualitative research method and remain one of
the most utilised research methods in industrial and HRM research. Whipp (1998, p.55) notes that
The interview is the primary means of accessing the experiences and subjective views of actors .
The main advantage of the interviews is that the rich data can be obtained from an interview.
According to White (1989) the researchinto solicitor s perceptions of ACAS was relatively easy to
set up and forty interviews are completed for five months. It is necessary to use interviews to gain
more detailed, in depth explanations from participants, which may provide a much better
understanding of their perceptions and actions. On the other hand, The time consuming nature of
preparing, arranging, conducting and writing up interview, which refers to that it is probable only a

biggest disadvantage of the interviews.

Cultural safety acknowledges and embraces the unique cultural backgrounds of individuals.
It means providing opportunities for people to express their ideas and beliefs and have their
cultural needs met. When people feel culturally safe they should feel freedom from fear, anxiety,
as being accepted and included. Being able to accept all people from cultures different to our own
does not only refer to people linguistic background, it also includes people who are from a
different gender, sexuality, age and ability.
To determining if the environment is culturally safe their needs to be evidence of any physical,
emotional, psychological and spiritual harm (Holly et al. 2005). Observing the atmospheres, body
language and the verbal communication between the people involved, whilst also having an
understanding that a safe space does not necessarily means that everybody is confortable and can
often be challenging (Holly et al. 2005).
OBSERVATION OF THE BIG BANG EPISODE:

The Big Bang Theory Of Sarcasm
1.Chin s main point about sarcasm is that it is very useful and that it is an necesary tool to
understanding each other, especially in our culture. Chin says, Sarcasm detection is an essential
skill if one is going to function in a modern society dripping with irony. The people that can t
detect sarcasm are socially inept, so to speak, because they will take what is said at face value,
instead of understanding the nuances of what isn t being said. 2.Sarcasm is a neurological ability,
not just a style of talking that some people use. It takes more brain power to percieve irony than
regular conversation does. Like mental bodybuilding, it forces the brain to extend itself to
understand what the truth is behind the sarcasm. The article states that, Sarcasm seems to exercise

sarcasm and may be one of the early signs of the disease. 4.In Greek, sarcasm means to tear flesh
like dogs. Another way to say this would be that the mean, cutting remarks of sarcasm can hurt
someone. An example would be when someone is being sarcastic, but the intention of the remark is
to hurt or demean the person it is being said to. People that are trying to percieve themselves to be
more popular than they are might be more prone to this, as a defense mechanism against what

Reasons for financial distress and problems Williams is facing
a) Write off of investment in WCG
During the Tech Bubble, the whole telecom market that WCG was involved in suffered a lot of
problems due mainly to a large oversupply, as indicated by an estimated 2% to 5% of the fiber
optic lines which were only carrying traffic. The revenue of WCG eventually plummeted, wherein
prices of the lines decreased by more than 90% from 1998 and 2002.
In July 2002, the telecommunications sector was experiencing a lot of problems. WCG itself also
began to experience a lot of financial stress, and in hopes of supporting it, Williams converted
notes to shares, providing credit support of $1.4 billion of WCG s debt (which Williams listed as an
off balance sheet item). In the end, Williams took a one time accounting charge of $1.3 billion of
guarantees and payment obligations. The problems with WCG ended up affecting Williams as well,
causing Williams net income after extraordinary items to plummet.

Riordan Manufacturing s Implementation Stage
Riordan Manufacturing s implementation stage is going to take a group effort. To combine talents
from many different fields to complete this stage of the project effectively. This implementation
will rely on the human resources department and the information technology departments. We
included both departments in the design and development processes.
The developers have chosen a software package that was designed by Microsoft to implement the
Riordan HRIS. The decision was largely pushed due to the fact that Riordan current OS is the
Windows platform. Our team will be implementing the Microsoft base software, which will
automatically create a new database on the MySql.
Using the waterfall approach the system developers will be able to focus on one piece of the
system and move on each part separately. This will give the design team more time to focus on
small sections of the new coding. Moving from one stage to the next means that each step has been
checked thoroughly and is completed.
According to Implementation Phase Recommendations (2014), During the testing phase, these test
cases are implemented, automated, and initially executed to verify that, as various parts of the
system reach code complete, testing is ready to verify performance. In addition, anticipate running
the verification tests many times during a test pass as performance bottlenecks are identified and
fixes provided. Having the tests automated makes it easier, faster, and more consistent to re run

Antidepressants And The Monoamine Theory Of Depression
1.Introduction
1.1. Depression: definition, symptoms and classification
Depression is defined by the DSM IV as a mental disorder characterized by sustained depression
of mood, anhedonia, sleep and appetite disturbances, feelings of worthlessness, guilt, and
hopelessness. Depressive symptoms such as the mere inability to experience pleasure and loss of
energy persisting for longer than two weeks are usually enough to indicate an affective disorder
(Hirschfeld 2014). There are significant variations in presentations and diagnosis criteria, but
regardless of the classification of depressive states (Major (Unipolar), Bipolar, Dysthymia, Atypical,
SAD, Postpartum), it is agreed upon that pharmacological interventions are sometimes required: to
alleviate debilitating symptoms and improve patients quality of life. The interest in depression
medications reflects the gravity of the disease i.e. its ability to psychologically impair lives and
lead to suicide.

Club Drugs Essay
It s 6 o clock on a Saturday morning and while some teenagers are enjoying the extra hours of
sleep, many are still bouncing around to the sounds of techno music. Thousands of teenagers and
even some adults gather into clubs decorated with black lights, disco balls, and tons of smoke
machines. Their hearts are pounding and their pulse is racing at the speed of light, all compliments
of designer drugs known as club drugs (National Institute on DrugAbuse). Changing the molecular
structure of an existing drug or drugs to create a new substance creates designer drugs (Kusinitz

Ecstasy is a combination of other illicit drugs. Because many different recipes are used to make
Ecstasy, the risk of death and permanent brain damage are heightened when some substances
are combined (NIDA). The bottom line with this drug is you never know what is in the $5 $20
pill you just bought, so the safest bet would be to do without it. The use of Ecstasy has led to
more powerful drugs such as Ketamine, known on the streets as Special K, or K. Special K
emerged as a recreational drug in the 1970 s and was known as Vitamin K in the underground
club scene in the 1980 s (Kusinitz 44). It resurfaced in the 1990 s as Special K in the rave scene
(45). Normally found in an injectable form, it is converted to powder and re packaged into small
ziplock bags or capsules (46). This powerful hallucinogen is generally snorted, and is
occasionally sprinkled on tobacco or marijuana and smoked (NIDA). Special K is usually
combined with other drugs, such as Ecstasy or cocaine, to enhance the high. The high, called the
K Hole , can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours and can produce hallucinations that
include visual distortions and a lost sense of time and identity (NIDA). Sold by the vials, K runs
around $10 $30 and is available widely throughout raves (Mass 16). The most common form of
hallucinogen and the easiest to get at raves, is LSD. Commonly known as acid , it is sold for $3 $5

Animal Ethics And Animal Farming
Not only does killing and torturing animals for the consumption of their meat and products harm
the animal but it harms humans and our planet as well. It is common to find people who are
omnivores in our country and rare to find a vegan. The vegan lifestyle is the only way that we
can save this planet. Usually, if you are eating dinner and someone mentions the animal that you
are eating, when it was living, another person at the table freaks out because they do not want to
think of that. We disassociate ourselves with the actual living animal that has suffered huge
amounts on our plates because we see ourselves as animal lovers who are against inhumane
torture and killing of animals. You can not classify yourself as an animal lover if you consume
an animal or their product because you are still supporting their demise. Why? Because the taste
pleases us. That is all. We are disgusted by people who torture and hurt animals for pleasure. For
example, people disassociate themselves from the Philadelphia Eagles NFL team due to the
actions of the player Michael Vick. Vick ran a dog fighting ring and bet on dogs to kill one
another. Why? For no other reason than the fact that it pleased him. We say that we are animal
lovers and agree that animals have at least some moral value but how does this make killing and
torturing animals for our consumption okay? Animal agriculture and factory farming are huge
industries that are sort of swept under the rug by omnivores. These

Positive And Negative Effects Of American Imperialism
In my point of view, the colonial period shifted the balance previously present throughout the world,
in which imperialism had less relevance in everyday lives. Before the colonial period, the natives
living in the Americas and the Caribbeans, mainly had internal fighting or conflicts between rival
tribes. While in Europe, the most tension occurred between major empires competing for trade,
land, recourses, and wealth. However, once the Europeans began colonizing America, both of the
worlds collided in a massive fight for sovereignty and wealth. This can be seen in each country s
colonization of America. In the French colonization, the colonist traded advanced weaponry to the
Huron tribe for fur and strong alliances. Consequently, the natives... Show more content on

Although the colonial period, portrayed a time in which a variety of people were severely abused
and many conflicts were provoked, there were also many positive sides towards the American
colonization. This positive side promoted societal growth and increased numerous countries`
wealth dramatically. For example, the English found an outlet to employ many of their low class
peasants in their Chesapeake colonization, and also found a way to produce large amounts of rice,
tobacco, and many more exports. In addition to obtaining expensive goods and recourses, American
colonization gave European empires the opportunity to expand their rule across oceans. However,
In some situations this reaped negative results, such as the British attempt to excessively control
their colonies by unconstitutionally issuing new taxes. One can even go as far to say that
American colonization led to the separation of the British empire. Thus, there were both positive
and negative aspects towards American colonization, but if all the senseless deaths were worth the
society we have today, will be a question debated for many

Not-For-Profit Organisation
Having never directly worked for a not for profit organisation before, I was not sure what exactly
to expect. However, I had some preconceptions. Logically speaking, I assumed a not for profit
organisation would have far less resources, for lack of a better word, be disorganised; given the
reliance on a pool of volunteers rather than salaried employees. Furthermore, I expected to receive
minimal supervision and/or training as I appreciated that my supervisor s time was extremely
valuable. After having spent 3 days at Amnesty International Australia ( AIA ), I would argue that
my assumptions have thus far proven correct. Having worked in large corporate organisations
such as Deloitte and the QBE Insurance Group, the contrast in resources could not be starker.
Furthermore, my supervisor often lacked time to run me through all the tasks she wanted me to
do. For example, on the first day she had to cut the orientation short because of an urgent call. On
the second day, she was busy introducing a University of Sydney student. An on the third day, she
was not present for most of the morning because of a meeting. Despite all this, I am enjoying my
experience.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

general meetings, quorums, super majorities and references to the Corporations Act. Whilst it
probably was not the most interesting task I could have been assigned, I understood the rationale
behind it. It is better to begin with a strong foundation and build on top of it rather than trying to

Star Appliance
Star Appliance Case Study
Situation:
Star Appliance is looking to expand their product line and is considering three different projects:
dishwashers, garbage disposals, and trash compactors. We want to determine which project would
be worth doing by determining if they will add value to Star. Thus, the project(s) that will add the
most value to Star Appliance will be worth pursuing. The current hurdle rate of 10% should be re
evaluated by finding the weighted average cost of capital (WACC). Then by forecasting the cash
flows of each project and discounting them by the WACC to find the net present value, or by solving
for the internal rate of return, we should be able to see which projects Star should undertake.
Conclusion:
Which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Star s returns were found by multiplying the EPS times the P/E ratio to get the year s stock
price. I then found the change in the price each year, which is the capital gain yield (CGY).
Adding this, the CGY, to the dividend yield (also listed in exhibit 6) gave Star s returns. The
results of the regression were a best fit line with a slope of 0.831, which equals beta. Using
exhibit 5, I averaged the 10 and 20 year T bill rates to get Rf for 15 years of 10.7%. I used the
given 6.0% percent as the market premium. Putting all of these values into the CAPM equation
gave a return on equity of 15.69%. Optimal Capital Structure
WACC = (D/D+E)(Rd)(1 t) + (E/D+E)(Re) Even though Star originally has a debt free capital
structure, there is an optimal capital structure that includes debt, which is usually a cheaper
source of financing. To find the weighted average cost of capital, I first calculated the cost of debt
using the spread between bond debt ratings (what was the spread?). I added the spread to the risk
free rate of 10.7% used earlier as Rd , then multiplied this value by (1 tax rate) to find the cost of
debt. Next, I had to find a beta for the levered Star by using the equation BL=BU(1+(1 t)(D/E)). I
determined the debt/equity ratio by solving (D/D+E) =((D/D+E) 1)^ 1. Now I used the CAPM
again to solve for Re of the levered firm for different proportions of debt. Finally, the WACC was
found by multiplying the cost of

Easy, Breazy, Beautiful Cover Girl Campaign
Beauty is an ideal that materializes in all different types of women. This notion is one that a
majority of women across the world learn to strive for. They fill their lives with daily routines that
maintain an image as close to perfection as they can. Exercising, putting on accessories, picking
their outfit of the day and attempting to apply varying amounts makeup for an effortless look is a
lifestyle common to many womem. Despite these notions, CoverGirlpromotes a message that one s
own look is not as strenuous as countless women believe it to be and that applying makeup every
day does not imply that women are required to create masks or layers of fake skin to feel
beautiful. Makeup should simply be an aid for women who need that extra boost of confidence for
the day. CoverGirl proves this to their loyal customers through their Easy, Breezy, Beautiful,
CoverGirl campaign. This slogan explains their goal; it highlights the importance of natural beauty
and embodies the idea of simply enhancing that beauty with just a touch of their makeup.
Advertisements can deceive with the words that they say and the images they show, but there are
always stronger factors that overcome the hidden assumptions in every advertisement. In the end,
the audience is persuaded to seek the product and the goal of the advertisement has been achieved.

Sigmund Freud Good Vs Evil
Sigmund Freud s theories of the unconscious mind focus on the dark aspects of fears and
repressions that plague an individual in childhood, and follow them unresolved into adulthood.
Freud divides the unconscious mind into a tri part; Id where our deepest desires lie, ego our
conscious mind, and super ego our moral guide based on our culture. Deconstructing the function
of each tri part can seem biased, especially with Freud s belief that women were inferior to men
and people of color inferior to all. Applying these concepts to the opposite gender and different

Willy Loman Vs Death Of A Salesman
Death of a Salesman, written by Arthur Miller, takes place during the 1950s. As my mother says
about my her mother, it was the time when many families, including my grandmother, wanted to
keep up with the Joneses. They wanted new everything, from a new house and vehicle to
whatever the next door neighbor had. However, new and nice things did not come easy for some
people as easy as it did for others, such as my grandmother. Willy Loman likes to stay in a fantasy
world rather than the real world, eventually leading to his lack of self awareness. He is always
thinking about the past then coming back to the present time. Willy, a man who is surrounded by
doubts and failures, as well as, exaggerates on his stories and has frequent contradictions, is unable
to keep up with the current fantasy or truth.
Willy says the key to being successful in life is to be well liked and not just liked (Kirszner

much, including criticizing his own physique. Linda, Willy s wife, disagrees with Willy, as she
has heard of many of Willy s success and the money he made while he was gone. She realizes
Willy s lies but loves him anyway. Willy, on the other hand, needs more than just love

He is of the same opinion that his mother is a hyper sensual but determined person. He is aware
of his mother s escapades from childhood by what he hears in the community. Even as a grown
man running a factory, his mother uses her notorious skills to get him to do her wishes. This
becomes evident when they have a disagreement in the factory where she works for him. He
describes her here as, Lulu Lamartine was usually controlled as a cat and got her way through
coaxing, cajoling, rubbing against your leg. An old woman who remained infuriatingly pretty, she
bent others to her will before they knew what was happening. (20). His witness is most credible
considering the mother son relationship and what he says about her is very parallel to what all the
other characters know her to be. A complex, hyper sensual but determined Lulu Lamartine appears
all through the story and connects the families together. Though her behaviour might be unusual
because of her strong sexual desire, she shows care and compassion to people, especially family.
Lulu is frank in giving her opinion and very mischievous in having her way with people. Might

Reinsurance Essay
Describe the role of the reinsurance industry. Give examples from recent events of the importance
of the sector.
Jack Nolan (09006300)
1. Introduction:
What is reinsurance? Why do insurance companies go through the process of insuring policies
before transferring them to other entities? Reinsurance is a method which involves insurers insuring
their own respective risks with reinsurance firms. Firstly, an important function of reinsurance is to
ensure that the insurance operations of company s doesn t eventually lead to detrimental financial
losses. Catastrophes, unexpected liabilities, and a series of large losses that might be too great for
an individual insurer to absorb can be handled through reinsurance (McIsaac and Babbel ... Show

Also from time to time insurance companies are offered the opportunity to insure risks that are very
large or complex or simply unusual. In these situations facultative reinsurance is the best alternative
(Wehrhahn 2009).Secondly, treaty reinsurance was devised to solve some of the adverse features of
the facultative method. The treaty method is highly popular mainly because it is not as
cumbersome or as time consuming as the facultative method (Irukwu 1982). Treaty reinsurance
involves the negotiations between the insurance company and reinsurer before creating a
reinsurance contract. Under a treaty reinsurance arrangement all risks that are defined to be object
of the agreement are ceded automatically to the reinsurer, and the reinsurer agrees to accept all
those risks (Wehrhahn 2009). Reinsurers creating treaties, would not individually analyse each risk
related to the treaty. Instead they would review the insurance company in question and base their
decision related to the expertise of the company, its risk attitude, its track record, the expected
amount of business to be reinsured and other technical aspects (Wehrhahn 2009).
Reinsurance plays an important role in helping to stabilise the profitability of insurance companies.
In a sector where there can be large swings in losses are liable to occur, reinsurance offers a
method which lessens the financial effects for insurers

Weight Distribution Of Paper Air Lab Report
Effect of the weight distribution on the flight distance of a Paper Airplane
By: Melinda Martin
UBT1: Western Governors University
Introduction
This report shows the effects of weight distribution has on the flight distance of a paper airplane.
Just like with real airplanes, paper airplanes rely on aerodynamics to get the airplane to fly,
although, they may not look or fly the same they use the same. Changing the postion of where the
weight is distrubuted on a paper airplane can affect the planes ability to fly as far.
Literature Review
According to the article Four Forces on an Airplane, weight is always directed to the cented of the
earth. (National Aeronaustics and Space Administration, n.d.). There are other forces... Show more

The dependent variable was the distance each plane flew, this was measured in inches using a
16 foot tape measurer. There were three controlled variables, the first was the size and weight of
the paper airplanes with the paper clip attached, I used the same size paper, paper airplane design,
and the 28mm paper clip for each plane. The second starting position where I stood, I marked a
designated position to stand at and threw the planes with my right foot at the starting line each
throw. The final controlled variable was how the planes were held and thrown, I held each plane at
the center of the plane and threw with my right arm.
Hypothesis:
Based on a previous paper airplane experiment coducted on balancing lift and weight, you can
change the center of gravity by placing weight on different parts of the plane. The further towards
the nose of the plane the more likely it ll nose dive. Moving the weight towards the tail will cause
the nose to go up. (Science Buddies, 2013). Given this infomtion, I hypothesize that placing weight
on the center of the paper airplane will give it the center of gravity it needs to fly the furthest
distance.
Materials and Methods:
To conduct this experiment, I used the following materials: Figure 1. The equipment used to
conduct the experiment.
3 pieces of 9 x 12 construction paper
3 28 mm paper clips weighing approx .5grams
1 16 ft tape measurer
1 pencil to documnt the distance

An Anti-Semitic Piece Of Propaganda From The Nazi Regime
As said by Joseph Goebbels, Because this, my dear Harlan, is a perfect opportunity to show, that
all Jewish characters and temperaments are originally from the same source. He s referring to
Werner Krauss, whom had the idea to play all the background Jewish characters in the movie, Jud
SГјГџ. This 1940 film is an extremely anti Semitic piece of propaganda from the Nazi Regime.
How exactly did this particular piece of propaganda come to be and how did it help further and
contribute to the goals of Nazi Germany? Propaganda s job is to give its audience certain ideas and
to train them to think in a certain way. It can be used as a way to dehumanize or show how
horrible the subject of their hatred is, and during war this is often the case. With

The Ethics Of Assisted Suicide
Abstract Physician assisted suicide, otherwise noted as PAS, has existed for many years, however
has made a controversial appearance in legislation recently. Patients and their end of life decisions
have shaped the way PAS has been portrayed today. Nurses play an important role in the everyday
life of transitioning patients, which places them at the forefront of assisted suicide.
Nurses must have clear and defined rules when it applies to assisted suicide, and what they can do
if this situation were to ever be considered by a patient. Until political change occurs, nurses must
adhere to the Code of Ethics as defined by the ANA. Many arguments are being proposed to change
legislation in favor of assisted suicide. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has been available in parts of Switzerland since 1942 (Darr, 2007), however assisted suicide was
not introduced to the United States until 1990. Not only is euthanasia allowed, but even individuals
as young as 16 years of age can request assisted suicide (Darr, 2007). Dr. Jack Kevorkian or
Dr. Death was the first to be known for euthanizing and assisting his patients with suicide by
utilizing a device that enabled people who wanted to die to selfВadminister toxic chemicals, after
initial assistance from a physician (Darr, 2007, p. 31). This idea sparked a legal and ethical
dilemma that is still discussed heavily today in many settings.
Currently there are currently five states that allows physician assisted suicide in the
United States. Washington, Oregon, Vermont, Montana, and New Mexico (within certain
jurisdictions) all currently allow this legislation (Time, 2014). Since this recognition, other states
such as California are also considering introducing similar assisted suicide bills. For example,
California has introduced the End of Life Option Act as of January 2015, which resembles

Oregon s Physician Assisted Suicide laws (Trossman, 2015). Views on whether PAS is ethical have
been increasing around the United States.

Decriminalization and Regulation of Marijuana Essay
Marijuana has a long standing history of being one of the most controversial substances in
America. While the history or the Cannabis plant indicates not only acceptance as a useful plant,
but even advocated as a source of revenue and medicinal usage, much of the United States
government propaganda over the last 100+ years has led Americans to accept very slighted and
often false information about the plant and its uses. Based on the origin of the illegalization of
marijuana and the inconsistent findings of its effects in comparison to other substances, both legal
and illegal, marijuana should be decriminalized and treated as a recreational substance just as
alcohol and tobacco are.

However, their knowledge of the intoxicant effects seemed absent and Cannabis was not yet widely
utilized for its stimulating or medicinal effects. Nonetheless, diary entries from George Washington
show that he personally planted and harvested cannabis for both the hemp fiber as well as the
medicinal qualities, and both he and Thomas Jefferson advocated for a hemp based economy (The
National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, 2003). By the mid 1800 s, Western
Medicine finally started to catch up to what ancient Asian cultures long knew, and over 100 papers
had been published in Western medical literature recommending the plant for its therapeutic
benefits (Grinspoon Bakalar, 1997).
With the research and study of the early 1800 s by various Western physicians such as W.B. O
Shaughnessy, R.R M Meens and H.A. Hare, American patients were being prescribed tincture of
hemp (an oral solution of cannabis in alcohol) for a variety of ailments such as rheumatism,
epilepsy, insomnia and even childbirth and post partum psychosis. Western doctors compared it to
opium, pointing out it was less intense and preferable (to opium) for its less violent effect on the
body. (Grinspoon Bakalar, 1997). Cannabis actually continued to be a widely prescribed analgesic,
listed on the United States Dispensatory and commercial preparations were commonly found in
drugstores. Unfortunately, with the invention of the hypodermic syringe of the

Theme Of The Country Girls
The Pain and Struggles of Finding an Identity Still, after the official Irish Independence in 1922,
the Irish people needed to find an identity free of the English influence, but also of the Catholic
morality and the values celebrated by the Revival. They had to define an identity which could be
in step with the times and truly represent them. It was a particularly difficult task for intellectuals
and writers. They found themselves almost shut up by Irish censorship and rejected by the bigotry
that mostly characterized the middle class society for decades after the Independence. Michael O
Donovan in a speech about censorship in 1962 said that writers had to face the bookless homes, the

In her novel The Country Girls, she also represented an image of Ireland. Throughout it, most of the
major themes related to Ireland and its society are touched, such as drinking, unhappiness in
marriage, education, moving from rural to urban areas, or even abroad, and sexuality. The latter
is the main reason why the book was banned by the Irish censorship upon its publication. In fact,
it was a delicate issue of the Ireland of the 1960s and moreover, it was being explored by a young
woman in this book. What emerges from the novel is a narrow minded society, in which issues
are present but not faced. The narrator protagonist s father is an alcoholic and is violent due to
drinking, Hasn t he always to hit someone when he s drunk? (Country Girls 31), however,
Caithleen and her mother cannot really do anything but dread him. Caithleen s friend s parents
are unhappy together, She and Mr Brennan slept in separate beds (Country Girls 119), but there
is no possibility to question their marriage. The protagonist has a secret relationship with a
middle aged man, Mr Gentleman, but it eventually does not turn up well, showing that a good
reputation and social status are more valued than feelings and truth. The two girls move to
Dublin in search of a more exciting life, far from the oppressions of their small village, I was not
sorry to be leaving the old village, it was dead and tired and old and crumbling and falling down

free themselves from their origins, from who they are. And so many other examples of stuck

Australian Football Field Decision-Making Analysis
CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION
1.1Introduction
Australian Football is a unique invasion game comprised of two teams of 22 players per side (36
afield), utilizing many skills (*****back and afl). The combination and display of long kicking,
high marking, tackling and nonstop action make it Australia s number one spectator sport (****
ref) and separate it from other football sporting codes. The overall aim of the game is to kick a ball
between goal posts positioned at the opposition team s end of the field to score a goal worth 6
points and the ball can be moved in any direction by hand (handball) and by foot (kick).

(AraГєjo., 2004)
1.3.3 Kick Side
The execution of a kick on a players preferred or non preferred foot is likely to alter the kick
technique and pattern (ball 2011 ref*************). A kick performed on the non preferred foot
is typically less coordinated than that of a preferred foot kick (ball 2011), and is likely to travel a
shorter distance and miss the target.
1.3.4 Kick Source
Kick Source is the method in which a player comes in possession of the ball before performing a
kick. These include, but are not limited to marking the ball, receiving the ball via a handball from
either a team in general play or after a mark and a ground ball. Kick source is likely to have an
impact on accuracy of the resulting kick as it can often be an indication of the scenario and the
pressure being applied. For example a player executing a kick as a result of a stoppage is likely to
be under pressure due to congestion of opposition players in the immediate area.

Bowling For Columbine Narrative Structure Essay
Narrative Structure in Michael Moore s
Bowling for Columbine
Michael Moore is a documentary film maker known for his controversial opinions and subject
matter. This documentary, Bowling for Columbine (2002), is Moore s second major film. It was
named in response to the 1999 Columbine High School massacre in which two boys went on a
shooting spree, thirteen people were killed and upwards of twenty were wounded. The two boys
were reported to have spent the morning before the massacre bowling. Despite its title, Moore s
documentary focuses on the broader issues of gun control and gun violence in America rather than
just the case of the Columbine boys.
As with the majority of his films, Michael Moore casts himself as the main focaliser in Bowling for
Columbine although there are other more minor characters (i.e. the boys who were victims of
Columbine) who assist through interviews. Repeatedly the audience is asked what America s
exponential gun violence can possibly be attributed to, as Moore provides several possible
culprits. The viewer follows Moore s personal, often satirical, vendetta to reveal the flaws of the
NRA (National Rifle Association), and America s gun laws as a whole. But the more important,
underlying problem Moore depicts is the state of fear American citizens live. It is a fear ... Show

cheap bullets utilised by the Columbine boys. Moore rallies with two young victims of the
shooting to force the product from K Mart s shelves, they actually succeed in this endeavour
making their quest to the company s headquarters worthwhile. This underdog narrative is another
characteristic of Moore s documentaries as K Mart is vanquished by the rag tag group and Heston

Glass Castle
As I read the Glass Castle, the way Rose Mary behaves, thinks and feels vary greatly and
differently throughout the memoir. The immediate question that pops up in my mind is to ask
whether Rose Mary carries some sort of mental illness. Fortunately, given the hints and traits that
are relevant to why Rose Mary lives like that in the memoir, we, the readers, are able to make
some diagnosis and assumptions on the kind of mental illness she may carry. To illustrate, one
distinctive example is when Rose Mary blames Jeannette for having the idea to accept welfare.
Once you go on welfare, it changes you. Even if you get off welfare, you never escape the stigma
that you were a charity case. (188). In my opinion, Rose Mary is being nonsense and... Show more

With all these being said, it s most likely that Rose Mary carries manic depression since she
potentially has something wrong with her ways of thinking and behaving. By definition, manic
depression is otherwise known as bipolar disorder in modern times. It is a brain disorder that
causes unusual shifts in mood, energy, behavior, thinking and the ability to carry out day to day
tasks. (Introduction: Bipolar Disorder) This overall definition clearly supports the argument
that Rose Mary carries bipolar disorder. Often times in the memoir, Rose Mary changes her
mind and mood about doing something very quickly without any foreshadow. This brief
explanation of bipolar disorder shows that Rose Mary possesses most of the traits of having
bipolar disorder. From a greater perspective, bipolar disorder has two very distinctive phases the
manic phase and depressive phase. During a manic phase, patients are often jumping quickly from
one idea to the next (Melinda and Jeanne), feeling energetic and having unrealistic beliefs about
one s abilities or powers (Melinda and Jeanne); during a depressive phase, patients are often feeling
hopeless, sad, empty (Melinda and Jeanne) or irritable and unable to

Introduction
Technology takes a new leap every day. New designs and components will require high resolutions
for monitoring health and structural characteristics and also to test their performance. The quality
of new devices directly implies on the level which we can measure their performance. Conventional
techniques which have been lasting for so long will not provide the high resolutions needed for new
and advancing designs for the measurements of different quantities, mainly strain. Some of the
conventional methods like Classic foil strain gauges and accelerometers have been trusted and used
for several years to measure the strains on various buildings, air planes, human body, and many
others, which end up failing during harsh conditions. Fiber optic strain sensors will not fail whereas
the conventional strain sensors might fail during some conditions. Fiber optic strain sensors have
high resolution and are immune to electromagnetic interference and can survive high temperatures,
and bad weather conditions. Also, the fiber optic strain sensor has 25 times better gauge factor than
that of the conventional sensors. There are two types of fiber optic strain sensors whose mechanical

Classical Conditioning Paper
Although classical conditioning is something that most people experience in a daily basis, it may
also be the first thing someone remembers in a day. According to Olson and Hergenhahn (2009)
classical conditioning is defined as a type of learning in which a neutral stimulus comes to elicit a
response after being paired with a stimulus that naturally brings about that response. In this paper
the subject is to describe the theory of classical conditioning as well as describing a scenario in
which one could apply classical conditioning theory to, and bring forth the scenario by showing

This is known as the unconditioned stimulus (UCS). Meat is the unconditioned stimulus
because at the sight of the meat the dogs begin to salivate (Feldman, 2010). The dog s response
to the meat educes salivation and is known as the unconditioned response (UCR). An
unconditioned response is defined as a reflexive and natural response that is not connected to
prior learning. Unconditioned responses always occur in the presence of the unconditioned
stimulus (Feldman, 2010). While conditioning the dogs, Pavlov would ring a bell right before
the presentation of meat. Eventually, the dogs would associate the ringing of the bell with the
meat. Therefore, the dogs would begin to salivate at the sound of the bell. At this point, Pavlov
could state that he had classically conditioned his dogs. The bell which was a prior neutral
stimulus had now become the conditioned stimulus (CS) that brought forth the conditioned
response (CR) of salivation (Feldman, 2010). Moreover, we have to ask what would happen if
these poor dogs were never again received food upon the ringing of the bell. This would lead to
extinction. Extinction occurs when a prior conditioned response decreases in frequency and
eventually disappears (Feldman, 2010). In order for Pavlov to unconditioned his dogs he would
have to break their association with the sound of the ringing bell and the presentation of food. To
do so he

In that sense, they are almost identical to anything else I ve collected. Bag them, board them,

Research Paper On Victorianism
Jehanzeb Siddiqui English September 4th 2014 Victorian England Essay Part 1: Victorianism
defined Victorianism is an era which is difficult to understand as it is spread over several periods
giving rise to many events. On one hand it is considered as an era of power and paradox while
on the other hand this era also describes Victorians as confident, socially responsible people

  • 3. Internet Freedom And Political Oppression An immensely prominent aspect of today s society is technology, which has provided the world with the internet. Though the internet has provided many positive benefits, it has also brought along many negative aspects. In Evgeny Morozov s article, Technology s Role in Revolution. Internet Freedom and Political Oppression the authors argument revolves around cyber utopianism and realism in regard to the internets actual function. Morozov s article attempts to convince the reader the internetis a rather negative tool due to how the function of the internet has been more beneficial to governments by allowing the spread of propaganda and legitimacy, and its aid in authoritarianism. Morozov mainly focuses on how many people often seem to forget how the internet carries negative aspects, resulting in cyber utopianism, a naГЇve belief in the emancipatory nature of online communication that rests on a stubborn refusal to acknowledge its downsides. Morozov argues that cyber utopianism is not a realistic way of viewing the internet due to how the internet operates throughout different countries and because of the effect the internet has had on authoritarianism. Instead of the internet being a tool for the oppressed, Morozov suggests that it has become a bigger aid to governments. Though I do think that the internet is an important aid in helping with world issues, I do agree that there are more negative consequences. This is evident considering some countries barely have access ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Performance Measurement System According to the Purchasing and Supply Chain Management textbook, Supplier performance measurement includes the requisite methods and systems to collect and provide information to measure, rate, or rank supplier performance on an ongoing basis (324). Bose has developed a detailed supplier performance system that measures on time delivery, quality performance, technical improvements, and supplier suggestions (Schulz, 2016). Twice a month, Bose generates a report providing feedback to suppliers about their performance. If necessary, Bose uses these measurements to establish goals for improvement for that supplier to attain. It would be beneficial for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Adherence Of Chronic Disease Article Essay INTRODUCTION I decided to write about the Adherence to Chronic Disease article because people do not see how important is to follow the doctors orders. When somebody is in pain he or she immediately goes to the hospital expecting to get better and feel nothing the next day. Some do not even go until the pain is unbearable. People need to realize that our bodies do not work that way. The damage that we had caused cannot be repaired in a couple of hours, but it takes months even years to treat some illness. And to get positive results people have to follow the treatment. Adherence is extremely important, especially for the prevention and control of cardiovascular disease. In the article, it mentions the results of non adherence like the growth of hospitalizations, deaths and it also mentions the increasing costs of care. To avoid those results, there are some known adherence barriers like counting the number of medications given per fill or the number of visits to the pharmacy monthly but these are mostly being used by individual health care delivery organizations or managed care plans. But the implementation of achievable mechanisms of control to evaluate and monitor are needed. The New York State (NYS) Department of Health, the New York City (NYC) Health Department created a method to evaluate adherence among NYC Medicaid participants and to manage future interventions. METHODS Participants Patients that live in New York City between the ages of 24 and 60 who were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Japanese Americans had to leave the zone by direct and indirect force, and the government passed the law which gave the military authority to move Nisei and Issei (34). Along with that, the Executive Order 9012, passed in March, created the War Relocation Authority (WRA) (35). The WRA s job was to take charge of the internees after they were moved to the camps (35). The Japanese American Citizen League (JACL) tried to fight against it. However, because it was too young and they were afraid that Americans would think they were really spies if they won t cooperate, JACL decided to follow WRA (36). Furthermore, in March 27, DeWitt issued Public Proclamation Number 4 which forced persons of Japanese ancestry to stay in military zone 1 after the end of the month, and on March 27, DeWitt issued Exclusion Order Number 1 in which persons of Japanese ancestry were moved from Washington to camp in Manzanar, California (37). During the war, there were more than 100 evacuation orders and, through this, the innocent Japanese Americans suffered the consequences (37). Despite the abrupt news of internment, the Japanese Americans managed to quickly adapt to the newly provided environment. One of the ways that the Japanese Americans adapted to their new environment was by forming communities at the camps. Forest Kindergarten has shown that children are less stressed, have better concentration, less chance of being ill and gaining better motor skills. Within 20 years of Forest Kindergarten starting in Denmark, the amount of Forest Kindergarten has doubled. The factors from Forest Kindergarten that I found challenging was that there are no basis of health and safety. Also, the Pedagogue says that the children must use their brains and that they should be able to look after themselves. I found this hard as it is our responsibility to look after all children. I do feel that it really does benefit the child, as they are able to start primary school with basic knowledge and understanding. Relating to my placement to the Forest Kindergarten is that there are no links between the two. The differences between my placement and the Forest Kindergarten is that within my job role I have a responsibility in which to look after all my students. • 12. Nuclear Contamination And The Atomic Bomb Testing We retired early that evening, and slept well. With the pressure we had been under now somewhat abated, we awoke the next morning rested and refreshed, ready for whatever the day might bring. Stapleya and Wisceya were eager to see the wonders of Las Vegas. Estelle and Jill had told them enough to pique their curiosity, although the fur girls insisted it was impossible and we must be kidding them. Compared to their home world, I am sure our entire planet seemed like an impossibility, so why they would balk at one more impossible thing, I could not say. We pulled out of the motel parking lot before dawn and drove straight down Interstate 15 without stopping except to buy fuel or to answer nature s call. Although we had eschewed Interstate highways in prior day s travels, we really had no choice now. Besides, we had no reason to suspect Alex would be looking for us here. Passing through the St. George area, Estelle remarked on the nuclear contamination in the area from the atomic bomb testing, and the many diverse cases of cancer in the people living here then. Our extraterrestrial visitors became curious as to those events which led us into a long discussion of warfare on Earth and the horrors it had brought, and the worries and politics of Nuclear power. • 13. Dna Editing System For A Type II Crispr System Mechanism CRISPR/Cas9 DNA editing system is a prokaryotic immune system that becomes resistant to foreign genetics such as plasmids. CRISPR stands for Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats, which are prokaryotic DNA strands that have a short repetition base sequence. Cas9 is a nuclease enzyme that is used to cut into DNAstrands that are associated with CRISPR type II. CRISPR/Cas9 system has several advantages when using this technology in the biological and biomedical sciences. It also has a few disadvantages that cause concerns when using this system in the medicine field. However, before all of this can be discussed, a depth of what CRISPR/Cas9 is and where it comes from and why is it important to the biology field. There are many highly diverse Cas (CRISPR associated) proteins but only one that is mainly used, which is Cas9.1 Which Cas9 derivative is found on the gRNA that contains plasmid, which are associated with CRISPRs type II in the bacterial immune system. Cas9 is an important asset to a type II CRISPR system mechanism that is required for gene silencing. Cas9 protein engages in the processing of crRNA and is also responsible for eliminating the target DNA in the type II CRISPR system.1 Cas9 function as an RNA guide for the DNA endonuclease enzyme that is involved with CRISPR adaptive immune system. The results of the regression were a best fit line with a slope of 0.831, which equals beta. Using exhibit 5, I averaged the 10 and 20 year T bill rates to get Rf for 15 years of 10.7%. I used the given 6.0% percent as the market premium. Putting all of these values into the CAPM equation gave a return on equity of 15.69%. Optimal Capital Structure WACC = (D/D+E)(Rd)(1 t) + (E/D+E)(Re) Even though Star originally has a debt free capital structure, there is an optimal capital structure that includes debt, which is usually a cheaper source of financing. To find the weighted average cost of capital, I first calculated the cost of debt using the spread between bond debt ratings (what was the spread?). I added the spread to the risk free rate of 10.7% used earlier as Rd , then multiplied this value by (1 tax rate) to find the cost of debt. Next, I had to find a beta for the levered Star by using the equation BL=BU(1+(1 t)(D/E)). I determined the debt/equity ratio by solving (D/D+E) =((D/D+E) 1)^ 1. Why do insurance companies go through the process of insuring policies before transferring them to other entities? Reinsurance is a method which involves insurers insuring their own respective risks with reinsurance firms. Firstly, an important function of reinsurance is to ensure that the insurance operations of company s doesn t eventually lead to detrimental financial losses. Catastrophes, unexpected liabilities, and a series of large losses that might be too great for an individual insurer to absorb can be handled through reinsurance (McIsaac and Babbel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also from time to time insurance companies are offered the opportunity to insure risks that are very large or complex or simply unusual. In these situations facultative reinsurance is the best alternative (Wehrhahn 2009).Secondly, treaty reinsurance was devised to solve some of the adverse features of the facultative method. The treaty method is highly popular mainly because it is not as cumbersome or as time consuming as the facultative method (Irukwu 1982). Treaty reinsurance involves the negotiations between the insurance company and reinsurer before creating a reinsurance contract. Under a treaty reinsurance arrangement all risks that are defined to be object of the agreement are ceded automatically to the reinsurer, and the reinsurer agrees to accept all those risks (Wehrhahn 2009). Reinsurers creating treaties, would not individually analyse each risk related to the treaty. Instead they would review the insurance company in question and base their decision related to the expertise of the company, its risk attitude, its track record, the expected amount of business to be reinsured and other technical aspects (Wehrhahn 2009). Reinsurance plays an important role in helping to stabilise the profitability of insurance companies. There were three controlled variables, the first was the size and weight of the paper airplanes with the paper clip attached, I used the same size paper, paper airplane design, and the 28mm paper clip for each plane. The second starting position where I stood, I marked a designated position to stand at and threw the planes with my right foot at the starting line each throw. The final controlled variable was how the planes were held and thrown, I held each plane at the center of the plane and threw with my right arm. Hypothesis: Based on a previous paper airplane experiment coducted on balancing lift and weight, you can change the center of gravity by placing weight on different parts of the plane. The further towards the nose of the plane the more likely it ll nose dive. Moving the weight towards the tail will cause the nose to go up. (Science Buddies, 2013). Given this infomtion, I hypothesize that placing weight on the center of the paper airplane will give it the center of gravity it needs to fly the furthest distance. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is known as the unconditioned stimulus (UCS). Meat is the unconditioned stimulus because at the sight of the meat the dogs begin to salivate (Feldman, 2010). The dog s response to the meat educes salivation and is known as the unconditioned response (UCR). An unconditioned response is defined as a reflexive and natural response that is not connected to prior learning. Unconditioned responses always occur in the presence of the unconditioned stimulus (Feldman, 2010). While conditioning the dogs, Pavlov would ring a bell right before the presentation of meat. Eventually, the dogs would associate the ringing of the bell with the meat. Therefore, the dogs would begin to salivate at the sound of the bell. At this point, Pavlov could state that he had classically conditioned his dogs. The bell which was a prior neutral stimulus had now become the conditioned stimulus (CS) that brought forth the conditioned response (CR) of salivation (Feldman, 2010). Moreover, we have to ask what would happen if these poor dogs were never again received food upon the ringing of the bell. This would lead to extinction. Extinction occurs when a prior conditioned response decreases in frequency and eventually disappears (Feldman, 2010). • 55. Comic Collecting Research Paper I sat in the airport boarding area hyperventilating. My father looked over at me from his seat, more annoyed than concerned. He knew that I didn t want to travel, yet he made it clear that I, being 14 years old, had no choice in the matter. We were going to visit my grandparents in Puerto Rico. They hadn t seen me in years and had been asking for a visit for some time. I was told it would be a time to reconnect with my dad s side of the family, enjoy the country air and the beaches. Oh, and there was this one other thing. I wasn t supposed to let anyone know that my mother had died a year and a half ago. You see, my father hadn t found the right way to tell them that their ex daughter in law had succumbed to cancer after a two year battle... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why is it that THIS hobby has had the most profound and lasting effect on my ability to help control my anxiety? Sure, comics, like almost every other collection require careful organization. In that sense, they are almost identical to anything else I ve collected. Bag them, board them, make sure that they are properly stored in an area that s not too hot or not too cold. If history is a guide, my fascination with comic collecting should ve gone the way of every other collection I d ever attempted. Yet, it didn t...and I think I know why. It s the story. Like Wally, here I was, alone in the world, figuring out my place, my powers , if you will. This story, and so many others, unfold over months, years and even decades. They provide rich, complicated plots, featuring individuals who despite their extraordinary abilities or skill face extreme hardship and yet still persevere and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. Research Paper On Victorianism Jehanzeb Siddiqui English September 4th 2014 Victorian England Essay Part 1: Victorianism defined Victorianism is an era which is difficult to understand as it is spread over several periods giving rise to many events. On one hand it is considered as an era of power and paradox while on the other hand this era also describes Victorians as confident, socially responsible people having a vision of the world beyond. The problem of describing Victorianism has also been well addressed by M.H. Abrams in arts and literature, who himself was a Victorian. Part 2: Victorian Social History Browny was a poor man who used to work at a cotton manufacturing factory where his employment allowed him to sit in the same position for a series of hours in a heated atmosphere to do the work. Part 3 B: Victorian Art The subject of the painting is The Rainbow in which the artist describes the mountainous region with valleys on both sides of the painting and stream of water flowing through it over a large distance while a rainbow reaches down to the earth from the sky. The artist seems to provide nature s lovely side within this rocky world and that people should focus on the better side this world rather than worrying about the darker side. Part 4: Major Literary Figures Thomas Carlyle had examined the society of the Victorians very carefully and spoke for the Victorians. According to him, people who were relying on technological innovations can t rely on those innovations only to lead their lives as these innovations won t lead man, instead spirituality is the main concern of their lives. He directed people towards spirituality and grabbed their attention through his writings. Either his readers were repelled by his work or used to like him through his ideas. Later his work emphasized over leadership and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
