Seatbelt
Safety is the first thing that should come to mind when riding in a car. There are many advertisements
that promote wearing a seatbelt all the time while driving or simply being a passenger. It has been
advertised through images, posters, commercials, and through social media. Some images are more
effective than others, because it uses a powerful meaning or song details. The reason tis due to many
fatal injuries and deaths have occurring for not wearing a seatbelt. Injuries are also the reason behind
those specific laws requiring to wear a seatbelt. It is it not worth sacrificing a life, especially that of
life of a young child, because the injury could have been prevented. It is up to the reader to clearly
understand the message to have an effective life.
The image is from 365daysofexperience.wordpress.com ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Truth is, it can happen to anyone. A person s life is never secure. That is what the first image presents,
a shirt with the date of person s birthday year 1993, following a dash, following the death year of the
specific person. However, this death year is covered by the seatbelt. This seatbelt covering up the
death year explains that a person who wears the seatbelt, could prevent own death. This is, also the
very important message the viewer must grasp. There are no words to further explain the image. This
is the reason the image clearly gives the message, rather than explain it with words. This is also the
relation of why the ad is an implicit appeal. It does not have anything spelled out which will make the
reader really understand it. Rather it is implied, and the reader must fully comprehend the message.
Although it is a positive message, it is presented with negative effects that can

The Reflection Of The Myth Of Echo And Narcissus
1.1 Introduction There are many literary references to the mythological figures Narcissus and Echo.
However, the most universally known is from Ovid s Metamorphoses. It is important to note that as
we distance ourselves from the literary tradition that myths like Narcissus and Echo come from and as
there are more and more visual representations produced, we can completely lose sight of the myth
and its origins. There can be a reference to the mythological material but no direct connection.
However, these visual works can also change the way in which we view and interpret the original
myth from the literary tradition, making the viewers gain a new perspective. It is important to note that
with every new era come different art movements which establish their own conventions through the
historical and social contexts. This project will analyse how the myth of Echo and Narcissus is
reflected within two visual works and if the works draw us back to the literary myth. Furthermore,
connections and influence between the visual works will be determined. The historical and social
contexts as well as the art movements that circulated and influenced the visual works will be analysed.
Finally, the power and denial of the voice in recent decades in relation to Echo and her visual and
literary representations will be studied. 1.2 Topic One: The Reflection of the Myth in the Visual Image

Metamorphoses. Poppies are known to represent the drug opium. Therefore, Echo is intoxicated by

Broken Covenantal Relationship Essay
Charles and I, both think that the character of Tamar embodies a broken covenantal relationship.
Judah, Tamar s father in law sent her back to her father s house, a widow. Judah had promised Tamar
that he would give her to his third son, Shelah, when he came of age, however, Tamar remained in her
father s house of some years without the Judah fulfilling his words to her. The unfulfilled words led to
the broken covenantal relationship between Tamar and Judah. Another example of a broken
covenantal relationship is the relationship of Queen Vashti and her husband. The king sent for Queen
Vashti to join him and his friends during a feast, he ordered her to join them in nothing but her crown.
Queen Vashti not willing to succumb to such humiliation, refused to do as the king wished and as a
result, she was sent out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It takes an incredible degree of courageous to stand up to someone many see as an authoritative figure,
and the platform of authority not necessarily for the good of all. I can relate with her courageous act. I
can imagine Queen Vashti must have gone through some form of mockery before the day she finally
had enough. It takes strength, and most especially perseverance to go through days like that. After
standing up to the king, she didn t allow herself to be intimidated by him and his power. She stood her
ground and remained relentless. The character of Queen Vashti is a sign of hope for today s society
and church, as many like me who come across her character are inspired not only to be courageous
and relentless, but also to be have perseverance in the face of difficulties and challenges. By
identifying and entering into a covenantal relationship with the character of Queen Vashti, I hope to
one day inspire younger people especially females to have courage, and to belief in their strength to
want a change for themselves and their

This behavior is a fixed action pattern. A proximate explanation for this would be that the behavior is
triggered by the sign stimulus of an object outside the nest. Once started, the behavior must be
finished. The ultimate explanation could be that making sure the eggs stay in the nest will ensure
healthy offspring.
Circannual rhythms are based on the cycles of light and dark in the environment. If global climate
changes, the bird s rhythms may bring them to their destination before or after conditions are prime
for reproduction and survival.
Some fish may respond because whatever has harmed the minnow may also harm them. Others may
respond because they prey on the minnows and they would easily be able to capture injured prey.
Some fish may not respond at all because they are neither threatened or enticed by an injured minnow,
and so they would just be wasting energy if they responded.

Powerlifting Research Paper
Why did I choose this topic?
I chose this topic because the men in my family have always been avid lifters. My dad was a
powerlifter pretty much all of his 20 s and 30 s. When my brother came into Dad s life, and he stopped
for awhile but once my brother got old enough to lift weights he got back into lifting. Now my brother
is an avid lifter, so it just a runs in the family.
For me it started when I was a freshman. I had to do a winter workout for football. I was extremely
embarrassed to lift because I was so weak, but I realized I wasn t the only one who was weak for my
age. My dad and brother never thought I would get strong. I was what they call allergic to the weight

press, deadlift and squat. This kinda lifting is not to burn fat but to go from looking like a little kid to a
grown man. What is Crossfit? Crossfit is a high rep olympic movements and incorrect versions of pull
ups is something the body can t take, especially when fatigued. But now i m not bashing crossfit
because things that are really good about it is that it builds fantastic endurance and core strength which
makes crossfitters extremely jacked. As I was reading my articles I found, I realized that if you are an
athlete you don t do crossfit because of the wear and tear on your body crossfit is meant not to gain
massive amounts of muscle but to burn a bunch a fat and just lean as all get out. None of crossfit s lifts
are beneficial to athletes because they are so intense and they do these olympic lifts, now those are
good but if you have terrible form it s just going to hurt you in the long run and the thing with crossfit
is there racing for a good time as of powerlifter there just trying to lift the heaviest weight possible

Twisted Truth Of Fear
The Twisted Truth of Fear
In Once Upon a Time, by Nadine Gordimer, the author tells a dark story in a fairy tale format. This
piece reveals a very dark truth, revealed through the theme, which is being controlled by fear. It is
eloquently portrayed through her simple, yet descriptive wording. Allowing irrational fear to take over
one s life leads to self destruction, which is the dark truth Gordimer wants the reader to understand.
The moral of this story proves to be ironic. Throughout the story, the wealthy white family does
everything in their power to avoid contact with the outside world, filled with riots and danger. They ve
insured everything they possibly can, and are a part of the Neighborhood Watch group, Yet she was
afraid that some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As magnificent as the characters home may be, the surrounding walls and wires to protect them
describes the isolation that is brought upon the family. When they go further into trying to protect
themselves, with the stretched razor bladed cols all round the walls of the house, the imagery not only
gives the reader a feeling of uneasiness but foreshadows the truth of the story. No one can isolate and
protect themselves from the world without winding up in the situation that was trying to be avoided in
the first place; in this case it is the boy pretend playing. The mother, who is consistently the most
worrisome of the family, inspires the boy to play as if he were a prince, rescuing the princess, and
ultimately leads him to their doom. He dragged a ladder to the wall, the shining coiled tunnel was just
wide enough for his little body to creep in, elucidates the truth Gordimer wants the reader to know.
...and with the first fixing of its razor teeth in his knees and hands and head he screamed and struggled
deeper into its tangle. The gore evokes disgust and fear in the reader, however enlightens them as well,
where the truth Gordimer wants to reveal is illustrated in great detail instead of simply being worded
out. Gordimer wants the outcome reaction to be disgust, because as the reader, one can t understand
the irrationality of the family until the danger they were trying to run away

Stereotypes Of African American Music In The 20th Century
Up until the 20th century music in North America showed a clear distinction between race and social
class. The music from then has since evolved into many diverse forms and backgrounds of origin. The
most significant impact on music concerning race in the 20th century was African Americans and the
musical traditions, they brought to the music world adapted through the life of slavery. Before the time
era of the 20th century began, blues music was spreading very rapidly throughout. Blues is a vocal and
instrumental musical form which evolved from African American spirituals, shouts, work songs and
chants. (Twentieth century music, n.d.) Blues was a way for people to sing about their hardships as a

Religious Persecution Essay
We need to get rid of the iron age idea that people have a constitutional guarantee protecting their
religion. This irrational nonsense ignores the fact that religion can, and often does, lead to the deaths
of many innocents. Not surprising, nonbelievers always tend to get the worst of any kind of so called
religious persecution . Sort of makes you wonder why its even called religious persecution and not
atheist persecution.
Before this nonsense found its way to the first amendment of the constitution. It was Lord Baltimore
of the Catholic church, who came up with the idea of a guaranteed right to worship, therefore
protecting the Catholic church in Maryland. Why? Not because there were atheists disrespecting or
killing the religious, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Seeing how religion certainly has proven to be the best at hate and divisive hate speech, it religion
certainly deserves to be on the top of the hate list. This is demonstrated by history and proven in every
day news. Ever hear of an atheist suicide bomber with total disregard for the lives of woman and
children?
We need to eliminate the guaranteed constitutional right to believe in dangerous ideas found
specifically in religion. By doing so, we would be able to criticize religion when it steps out of line, in
the SAME exact way that every other idea on earth is open to criticism. This would be a good step to
stopping the spread of nonsense.
Think how well it would have worked out if every news paper in the world printed the Danish artists
critical rendering of the prophet Muhammad, instead of cowering in fear and capitulating. Because we
cowered and allowed them to silence us, we empowered Islamic terrorists and what ever other
religious group to cry foul when offended. They now know, not only are we are afraid to offend or
criticize them, but that we will give in and guarantee their terror and intimidation in our country and

Swing Dance History
Single swing is one kind of swing dance that developed with the swing style kind of jazz music in the
1920s 1940s. Swing refers to a style of jazz music where the emphasis is on the off beat part in the
music and it influenced the evolution of swing dance because the feeling of the dance was swinging .
It uses a strong rhythm section that results in more wind and brass instruments. Swing bands also
featured soloists who improvised during their performance. Sometimes two or three band members
even improvised at the same time. But, not everyone liked swing music and the wild dancing that went
with it. This kind of wild dancing includes a mix of tap, Charleston, and improvisation. But, different

Dogmatic Ideologies In The Crucible By Arthur Miller
When contemplating past societies, a subconscious critical lens is often enacted exposing the
fallaciousness of their respective ideologies. The Crucible by Arthur Miller serves to provide
perspective into the consequences of being confined to an ideology in a dogmatic fashion, and the fear
it may inspire. The theatre piece is set during the Salem Witch Trials in late 17th century and follows
the vulnerable townspeople as a syndicate of naive girls abuse the communities position as puritans to
endow accusations of witchcraft. A consistent allegory between the piece and McCarthyist America,
tied with context and literary techniques enables a warning against dogmatic beliefs in ideologies and
the fear that can result from the unknown.
The creation of an allegory connecting the Salem Witch Trials with McCarthyist America, and
context, primarily historical, alerts viewers of the precaution that must be held in relation to dogmatic
ideologies. In order to fully comprehend the allegorical extracts the historical context must first be
understood. At the time of publication, 1953, the Cold War was in occurrence. The Cold War was
essentially a war of two antithetical ideologies, capitalism (in America) and communism (in the
USSR). In 1949 the USSR exploded their first nuclear weapon and not long after in 1953, activated
their first hydrogen bomb. Due to this Americans became paranoid of the communist threat and
emanated into capitalist ideologies becoming unquestionable; over

Difference Between Rhein And Celecoxib
The purpose of this project was to develop reproducible and high throughput bioanalytical methods to
quantify rhein and torcetrapib from small volumes of plasma. A highly sensitive and specific liquid
chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC MS/MS) method has been developed and validated
for the estimation of rhein with 100 μL human plasma using celecoxib as an internal standard. The
sample preparation involved simple liquid liquid extraction of rhein and celecoxib from human plasma
with acetonitrile, which yielded consistent recoveries of 36.01 and 65.85% for rhein and celecoxib,
respectively. The chromatographic separation was achieved with 0.01 M ammonium acetate (pH 6.0):

Here, we have developed and validated a highly sensitive, specific, reproducible, and high throughput
enantioselective LC MS/MS assay to quantify torcetrapib (TTB) enantiomers [(+) TTB and (−) TTB]
using structurally close internal standard (IS) from small volume (100 µL) of hamster plasma. The
sample preparation involved simple liquid liquid extraction of TTB enantiomers and IS (DRL 16126)
from hamster plasma with acetonitrile. Absolute recovery was found to be between 64 and 68% for
TTB enantiomers and 100% for IS. TTB enantiomers were efficiently separated using n hexane:
propanol (80:20, v/v) at a flow rate of 0.7 mL/min on a Chiralpak AD column with a total run time 10
min. The method was found to be precise and linear (r2 0.995) in the concentration range 5 2500
ng/mL for each enantiomer with a lower limit of quantification of 5 ng/mL for each enantiomer. The
intra and inter day precision and accuracy values were found to be within the assay variability limits
as per the FDA guidelines. Finally, the sensitivity and specificity of the assay were found to be
sufficient for accurately characterizing the pharmacokinetics of (−) TTB in hamsters following oral

Persuasive Essay On Sex Trafficking
Although millions of innocent females fall victim to the despicable realm of sex trafficking, only a
negligible percentage is recovered. Sex trafficking occurs when individuals are forced to perform
sexual acts without reimbursement; traffickers beat, torture, and emotionally abuse their victims into
obedience. Traffickers use cunning methods to both hide their operations and force their victims into a
life of submission. In a perfect world, human trafficking would be easily obliterated. However, sexual
exploitation of individuals being trafficked throughout the world cannot be eradicated due to
governmental corruption and cunning trafficking methods.
In the United States, the Federal Bureau of Investigation s (FBI) attempts to stop sex trafficking have
proven inadequate. In fact, the FBI states, Over the past decade, the FBI s human trafficking
investigations have been responsible for the arrest of more than 2,000 traffickers and the recovery of
numerous victims ( Human Trafficking ). While this data appears to show the magnitude of the FBI s
efforts to rescue enslaved females, they reveal the difficulty of catching traffickers. According to this
statistic, the government has only had the capacity to prosecute an average of two hundred traffickers
per year, a very low number compared to the possible number of traffickers. If the United States
government could stop trafficking, this number would be significantly higher. Also, the FBI asserts the

Compare And Contrast Walter And Mama In A Raisin In The Sun
In the book A Raisin in the Sun by Larraine Hansberry, Walter and Mama are the two most influential
characters to the plot. Walter is obnoxious and always thinks about himself while Mama is forceful
and very strict. They both play a major role in the story. Both have changed or impacted the plot and
characters feelings and or thoughts. Without them in the story it would be very different. Walter is a
very important character and impacts everybody by his actions and what he says and does. Walter
changes a lot throughout the story. He begins to become very hostile and short tempered towards his
family. He starts to lose all his family values and only starts to worry and care about the check that is
coming in. He says, did it come? will somebody please listen to me today!!! This shows that he wants
everyone to listen to his idea about what he wants to do with the money. While he wants this, he
shows no care or regard to anyone else s ideas or thoughts about it. The quotes show how selfish and
rude he is, also it shows how he has lost of all his family s values because he won t even listen to
anybody else. Walter has changed his whole family. He has started so much conflict with all his
family. His family at this rate will be better off without him. You ain t looked at it yet and you don t
aim to speak on that again? You ain t looked at it and you have decided well, you tell that to my boy
tonight when you put him to sleep on the living room couch. This just shows how much he wants to
have HER money for himself because he is selfish and a shallow person. He is the reason why the
family is tearing apart. Also, Walters actions show how edgy and inpatient he is. (Violently flinging
the coat after her) He starts to get very violent, he flings things, slams doors, yells at mama, and starts
to get verbally abusive towards her. He doesn t know how to let things go and how to think in another
person s perspective. He only wants to do what he wants, he doesn t care what the other family
members want he just knows what he wants to get and forces the decision upon them all. In this book
Mama plays a very important role. She is the head of the house and has a major part in what people

Women s Rights Violations in Afghanistan
Women s Rights Violations in Afghanistan
Martin Luther King Jr. once said, True peace is not merely the absence of tension, it is the presence of
justice. It means that without equality, there is no real end to a conflict. Equality is one of the many
human rights every person is entitled to. It is never acceptable to deny people their basic human rights;
however, this has occurred frequently throughout history. A wide variety of groups have been
discriminated against through violations of human rights, but women have faced this hardship the
most. Times have changed, and many women now possess their deserved human rights, but others are
less fortunate. In the book, A Thousand Splendid Suns, by Khaled Hosseini, human rights violations ...

The Taliban made matters incredibly worse for women in Afghanistan.
Because most of the violations against women were directly due to Taliban law, every woman in
Afghanistan had to deal with this abuse of rights. When education was banned, they could no longer
have dreams of becoming professional working women. Their new destiny was forced marriage,
polygamy, and housework.
Men are the main perpetrators in most women s rights cases, but in Afghanistan, it is society. Women
are looked down upon so severely that even women themselves are ashamed when they give birth to
females because everybody feels sad for you (Nordberg). A pregnant woman in Afghanistan gave birth
to twins prematurely. When they arrived, they were extremely small and unconscious. The woman s
mother in law began to cry, not because the babies were unconscious, but because both of them were
girls. It is a disgrace to have more girls in the family.
The entire female population in Afghanistan is directly affected by the societal prejudice against them.
There are so many restrictions and limitations towards women that they can be charged with a crime
that harmed nobody and nothing at all. The male population is willing to find anything they can to use
against these innocent women. Women deserve to at possess the minimal human rights that they
should have been granted at birth. In order to make this happen, these women need

The target market of Hublot aims to the young entrepreneurs at the age of 25~45. Compared with
other luxury watches consumers, those entrepreneurs are younger, and they prefer the sense of future
plans. At the same time, they are the generations of the Internet . Take the USA and China for
example, most Internet users are 20~40 years old. The are more likely to accept the creative products
rather than the historical classic ones, and they are believed to be influenced by the information on the
Internet much easier.
In terms of Internet and media, Beaver created Hublot TV in June, 2006, which becomes the first one
to create an online television channel of luxury brands in history. The television will broadcast all
kinds of news of the brand and spread around the world. Furthermore, Hublot also take advantage of
the usage of communication web. Up to now, Hublot have more than 370 thousand fans on Facebook,

New York City Vs. Los Angeles
New York City vs. Los Angeles: East Coast to West Coast
For Christmas and my sixteenth birthday present my parents planned a trip for me to go to New York
City with my dad. Two days after Christmas me and my dad hopped on the plane and headed for New
Jersey and New York City. I was very excited because I had been to New Jersey but I never visited
New York City before. I also remember being excited because of that fact that I would actually get to
see snow in the winter since it rarely ever snowed in Houston during the winter. Then that next year
during my junior year in High School, I had the opportunity to go on a trip to Los Angeles with my
drill team. I was very excited to get to go to both of these huge awesome cities in that two year period.
Both of these cities were unique in their own way. So what makes a city similar to another city and
what makes a city different to another city? The people, the weather, the vibe, the monuments and
popular attractions are all some of the components of what makes a city unlike any other city. My two
favorite cities besides Houston are New York and Los Angeles. I have visited both and like them both
equally for different reasons. While New York and Los Angeles definitely have their similarities, they
also have many differences that set them apart from each other.
In New York they experience all four seasons. The leaves change colors in the fall, it snows in the
winter, the grass gets greener because it rains a lot in the spring, and

hated his parents because they hated each other. Many of Kurt s friends and peers revealed that Kurt
would often mention suicide and death. Like many of his idols from a very young age, Kurt killed
himself in the midst of his prime years in his life and career. When Kurt was much younger he had
walked to school like he did every day. On this particular day, however, he came upon the body of a
young boy who had hung himself. The boy turned out to be the brother of Kurt s friend. He sat there
and watched the boy s body twist in the wind for hours until he was forced by administrators to look
away. This was a very defining moment in Kurt s life in which left a long lasting suicidal imprint.
From that day forward Cobain s friends note that Kurt talked about suicide every day and the boy who
hung himself. Kurt would often play games involving him acting out many deaths and suicides. His
journal was filled with entries involving killing of harming himself and hating all human kind. In a
biography about Kurt Cobain, Charles R. Cross declares in a way, with the full on embrace of his
addiction, Kurt had chosen not only to quit Nirvana but to quit the rest of his life as well. When
Courtney told him that he could no longer do drugs in their house, he

Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems Lab Report
The Internet of Things is continually changing lives and has provided convenient controls over lights
and appliances from houses, to offices, streets and especially, to tracking of habits, health and even the
environment. These things cannot be accomplished without the help of Micro Electro Mechanical
Systems (MEMS) technology which facilitated the development of smart sensor nodes. Wireless
sensor network (WSN) is a group of sensor nodes able to sense, measure and, gather information from
the surroundings, and transmit and receive data from the user. These sensor nodes are equipped with
sensors, a processor, memory, power supply, and a radio or a RF module. The sensing part of the
sensor node determines the application where it will be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The figure shows the power consumption levels of the power hungry blocks in a commercial sensor
node. In data communication, no waiting time results to an energy efficient communication. Energy
efficiency means less power consumption in a period. The decrease of power consumption means the
decrease of power budget of the node. For reducing power using communication scheme, there are
many protocols that will budget the power where no power is wasted while there is no
communication. It implements duty cycling of transmitter (Tx) and receiver (Rx). This method
incorporates timing to the Tx and Rx which decreases the waiting time. This timing circuit posts
implementation problems such as increase in power, delay, and the probability of error. An alternative
technique is the asynchronous wake up where there is another receiver module beside the transceiver
which is a wake up receiver (WuRx). The architecture of the receiver determines the simplicity in
hardware and power consumption. This architecture will depend on the modulation scheme that will
be used. The purpose of the wake up receiver is to monitor the transmitter or data for initiation of data
communication. The main transceiver is in sleep state except during an initiated communication,
shifting to its active state. The WuRx should have low power average consumption than the duty
cycled communication schemes to prove its advantage. Its operation is also shown in Figure 1.2. The

Lament Poem
3. Explore the ways in which the poet vividly conveys aspects of nature and society in Lament by
Gillan Clarke and the Flower fed Buffaloes by Lindsay In Lament by Gillian Clark, and The Flower
fed Buffaloes by Lindsay there is a broad theme focusing on the damage to nature done by man kind.
In Lament the poem is structured as a list of lamented people, places, and creatures hurt in the war.
Each stanza discusses a new idea based on the devastation of the world and her disapproval to war.
Throughout The Flower Fed Buffaloes , Vachel Lindsay tries by imagery to make the threat of
destruction to the natural environment critical for the reader. These images add to Lindsay s hinted at
criticism of man s destruction of nature. In Lament ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Death Penalty Dbq
Throughout history, many governments were implementing the death penalty unfairly because of the
unjust rulers, such as the Romans and the Ottomans. For example, they were executed people who
were demanding for their rights. Furthermore, the penalty ways were very ugly and inhumane. To be
more precise, Romans used the saw to cut up the accused into two halves and this execution style was
the favorite of the Roman emperor Caligula. Also, Ottomans were using the stake in the death penalty
to make the victim suffer as long as possible before he died. However, with the passage of time and
the progress of nations, these types of executions faded. Recently, international organizations such as

In some countries, executions are not only for criminal reasons, but also because of religious and
racial bias. Racial discrimination began in terms of using people with black skin as slaves and servants
for the rich. The racist practice against black Americans is an important example that explains how
blacks were persecuted. This policy began in the United States after the American Civil War and
emerged the racist legislation that supports the control of whites in the late nineteenth century. This
situation made blacks angry for the loss of their rights and tough punishments up to execution because
of racial grounds. Blacks began to resist this policy before World War II. Then, black American
leaders have appeared like Martin Luther King and Malcolm X and called for changing the racial
laws. Martin Luther King was one of the most famous advocates of the abolition of the death penalty
and he said that death penalty is against the best rule of new criminology. In her article, The Death
Penalty: What Would Dr. King Do? (2012) Moye commends that Dr. King utilized the ethic of
peacefulness to social change. At its embodiment was a profound appreciation for the human poise in
all individuals, including the oppressor and the culprit. Martin Luther King means that every human
has the right to live and no one can take this right except God. On the other hand, racism has directly
affected the civil rights of blacks and indirectly on their lives. For example, judgments for certain
crimes against blacks are strict compared with whites and it may reach to penalty. Not only blacks
around the world are suffering from racism, but also people in occupied countries such as Palestine.
This is another type of using the violence and executions for religious reasons. Since 1967, Jews
occupied Palestine and declared that the land is theirs then they

Larkin Two Trees
How do Don Paterson and Phillip Larkin try to capture a message about life in their poems Two Trees
and The Trees?
In the two poems, Two Trees by Don Paterson and The Trees by Phillip Larkin, the poems explore life
and death through their seemingly black and white poems. In Two Trees , Paterson explores the
themes of creativity and perception while Larkin ponders the illusions of life and how things are
perceived. The messages in their poems can be seen in their contrasting uses of symbolism, imagery,
rhyme and metre, and structural form.
The two poems both make use of symbolism to convey their message to the reader. Two Trees shows
this through wordplay such as rooted in his head . Here the word rooted both means that he has an idea

Two Trees has a linear structure, in chronological order, to convey how easy it is to see things in
different lights. Likewise, the poem has a very strong connection to the number two, particularly due
to the rhyme and metre, but it also has two stanzas, each one showing a different point of view on the
trees and the dream that had them graft ed together. The poem also contains many enjambments,
which, like thoughts, continue onto the next line. In Don Miguel s stanza, they are carefree, like his
thoughts, but The Man s are more impartial, as if he couldn t care at all. The Man s stanza also seems
to speed up, with the enjambments rushing the stanza, almost as if, like him, the poem is hasty and
thoughtless, and rushes into things. Contrastingly, The Trees by Philip Larkin has a circular structure,
returning to the beginning each stanza and it also returns to the beginning of the poem at the end. It
mirrors itself, starting with life, then death, and ending with life. However, throughout it is becoming
softer; there are more vowels at the beginning, which makes the beginning sound harsher. Overall,
both poems use structure to express a message, but the overriding similarity is both poems ability to

In A Separate Peace by John Knowles, Finny chooses to deny many things that are happening in his
life. He tries to convince himself and his friends that there is no war being fought. By doing this,
Finny is also denying his physical condition. In the novel A Separate Peace, the symbol of snow shows
that denial is powerful and controlling, especially in a friendship. John Knowles uses the snowball

Importance Of Allocation Of Land In Kenya
24.1 Allocation of public land It involves the state or the government transferring its rights, use, and
ownership of land to the citizens of the country, According to section 12(1) of the Land Act, the
National Land Commission (NLC) has responsibilities of allocating public land on behalf of the
National or County Governments.(Source: Guides on Land Administration in Kenya). Alienation of
land to members is done by passing through the following law applications which include Local
Government Act, Physical Planning Act, Land Control Act, Government Land Act, and others.
Planning process on public land are drawn up by the National Land Commission so as to prepare for
physical development and these plans should be approved by the various physical planning officers
for confirmation or any changes and then transferred to the final office known as the ministry of land
for approval then to the Department of surveyors to survey the land and various measurements and
others process that follow afterwards during the development process .The main disadvantage of this
process is acquiring a land title after allocation of land can be very long and tedious. The steps
involved during the procedure of acquiring a title deed after allocation of public land include
acceptance of an offer to the National Land Commission, land surveying, preparation of lease
documents, clearance of payments (stamp duty and getting the rent and clearance certificate), and
registration of the lease. 2.4.2 Adjudication It can be defined as recording rights and interests of land/
existing rights and claims of people to land. This process is governed by the Land Adjudication Act
Cap 287, adjudication is also when a title to land is registered for the first time/ first stage in the
registration of title to land in areas where the ownership of the parcel of land is unknown. After the
land adjudication process, a land adjudication register is created. The adjudication register is
composed of a demarcation map and adjudication record. Each parcel number of land is indicated on
the map which corresponds to the adjudication record that contains the registration section, parcel
number, name of the owner, and size of the land and details of the registry map

Federal Aviation Act Of 1938
Aviation has been in rapid growth since its beginning in the early 20th century. With that rapid growth
that created challenges. Who will regulate the airways? Should we have a certifying official? What
will the rules of flying be? With those questions in mind the government passed the Civil Aeronautics
Act of 1938. The Civil Aeronautics Act transferred federal responsibilities for non military aviation
from the Bureau of Air Commerce to a new, independent agency, the Civil Aeronautics Authority
(Civil Aeronautics Act of 1938, n.d.). In order to see how the Federal Aviation Act of 1958 came into

The absorption of light by normal bilirubin (4Z,15Z bilirubin) results in the creation of 2 isomeric
forms of bilirubin: structural isomer (Z lumirubin) and configurational isomer (4Z,15 E bilirubin).
Both these structural and configurational isomers of bilirubin have substantially different chemical
and light absorption properties than bilirubin, are less lipophilic than normal bilirubin and can be
excreted into bile without undergoing glucuronidation in the liver. The absorption of light by bilirubin
also results in the generation of excited state bilirubin molecules that react with oxygen to produce
colorless oxidation, or photooxidation products. The rate of formation of bilirubin photoproducts is
highly dependent on the intensity and wavelengths of the light used (13). The most efficient
wavelength for the isomerization of bilirubin is approximately 450 nm, whether applied to the fluid
samples for testing or the treatment of jaundice. Wavelengths that fall within the range of 400 nm 500
nm, and more specifically 445 nm 475 nm are known to effect isomerization (14). The blue lights are
chosen for light emission wavelengths of approximately 450 to 530 nm, which is the optimal range of
light absorption for bilirubin. In contrast, the optimal range of light absorption for

Mercutio as Catalyst in Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet
Mercutio as Catalyst in Shakespeare s play, Romeo and Juliet
In Shakespeare s play, Romeo and Juliet, the quick witted character Mercutio is a notorious scene
stealer (Utterback 105). Mercutio s major function in the play is to be a catalyst for the plot. Mercutio
s purpose as a character is most significantly revealed in his relationship with Romeo, his baiting of
Tybalt, and his death. More importantly, Mercutio functions as the catalyst for the pattern of disasters
in the play that follows his own tragic death, making him, as described by critic Stephen Greenblatt a
spirit that seems to challenge the very possibility of romantic love or tragic destiny (856).

Mercutio urges Romeo to end his romantic relationships. Mercutio tells Romeo If thou are dun we ll
draw thee from the mire / Of save your reverence love, wherein though stickest / Up to the ears
(I.iv.41 43). Mercutio scorns the romantic love and relationships that weaken their friendship.
Mercutio s bawdry and scorn are seen as especially ill mannered because he expresses it in an age
celebrating domesticity and middle class marriage (Porter 34). The connection of Mercutio s name to
the misogynistic god Mercury supports his view of love and relationships (Porter 38). Mercutio s
Mercurian message is that Romeo should stay with, or come back to, the world of male comradeship
(Porter 107).
Furthermore, Mercury was a troublesome, quick to anger, and swift messenger. Likewise, Mercutio is
hot headed and quick to act. Mercutio s need for action and his ridiculing nature are also seen in his
aggressive baiting of Tybalt. At first, Mercutio seems almost excited to see Romeo fight Tybalt in Act
Three, Scene One. And but one word with one of us? Couple it with / something; make it a word and a

challenge to fight. The passive Romeo instead wants love and peace with Tybalt because of his love
for Juliet.

Notes On The Price Of Wheat Futures
Strategy 1:
Concerns regarding fluctuations in the price of a certain commodity in the coming future can secured
through the use of different derivative products. In the given case, prime concern of the management
of Karl s bakery is to protect itself against the future variations in the price of the wheat, as it can
impact their business in a significant way. The suitable option for the bakery is to take long position in
December wheat futures contracts as the management procures bulk of the wheat in December. It will
provide Karl s management hedge against unanticipated rise in the price of wheat. The bakery needs
to purchase almost 25,000 bushels of wheat. Therefore, 5 contracts have been purchased (each
contract is based on 5,000 bushels of wheat). Price of each contract is $5.08, and total cost of this
strategy stands at $127,000.
This position in closed on 27th October. The price of wheat futures has risen from $5.08 to $ 5.11
during the period. This price rise translated into positive gains for the bakery as it indicated rise in the
price of the underlying commodity. The management has remained successful in hedging its price risk
by taking long position in wheat futures.
Strategy 2:
Primary apprehension of a corn seller is decline in the price commodity which will impact his
revenues negatively. Short position in corn futures will lock in the future price of the corn and will
guarantee the locked price of the commodity, irrespective of the actual market price of the

Greek Creature In Dante s Inferno
In Dante s epic poem Inferno, he uses many interesting character and creatures from many iconic
stories we have read or heard about. He repeats and takes a lot of ideas from Greek culture, which
very clever because as reader we are familiarized with Greek Mythologies. Greek mythologies are
based on very unusual and unique creatures, which are very interesting, and he uses these creatures in
his journey and showcases their importance in each situation. The creature I found interesting and
attractive is Cerberus, not because the way Dante describes the creature. I saw this creature in a movie
called Percy Jackson: The Light Thief, Percy goes to the underworld to save his mother from Hades.
When Percy reaches to Hades home, his home is guarded with Cerberus, which was a three headed
creature, looked very vicious, and violent. When I read about this creature in Dante s Inferno it
brought back that image I saw in the movie, very scary looking beast that is about to kill. Although it
looked scary, I found it fascinating because there were three heads jointed together with long teeth like

As times go on you have to remember back to a time without the government as we know it. While

thin air. Textbooks such as Charles Sackery s Introduction to Political Economy assist in our quest to

John Maynard Keynes all had ideas that may have influenced our economy but only two can move on
to the next round of this show.

Greek Mythology And The Lightening Thief
It is a lovely day out, the bright sun shining down, the smell of beautiful flowers, the sounds of birds
chirping. Then, a chariot sweeps across a meadow, taking one unfortunate goddess, deep deep down to
the frightful underworld, to be seated by the King of the Dead,
Hades. Greek mythology is very interesting and can also be very interestingly weird. In the lightening
thief we see the very interesting part about Greek mythology. The lightening thief uses the modern day
society to tell the adventure packed story. In this essay I will give you an overview of Greek
mythology, along with a summary and analysis of The Lightening Thief.
Hero is the main theme of this story. We see the theme of hero throughout various parts of
2
the story. Courage, Love and sacrifice, and man vs. society all connect back to the idea of heroism.
Cultural and Historical Context
The Lightening Thief story is set in modern day time. Around 2000 2004 is where it all starts.
Although the setting is modern day, he author is telling Greek mythology, which began in
500 BC. Greek mythology is very interestingly different. Greek mythology also includes a number of
monsters and strange creatures such as the one eyed Cyclops in the Odysseus story, a gigantic boar in
the fabled Kalydonian hunt, sphinxes, giant snakes, fire breathing bulls and more. These creatures may
represent chaos and lack of reason, for example, the centaurs halfman and half horse. (Cartwright,
Greek Mythology.)

Persuasive Essay On Parents
There are many forms of parenting and as a parent myself, I am faced daily with decisions regarding
my children. It s my beliefs and decision that should affect how I chose to parent them. However, in
today s society how much slack are we as parents really given? We are sometimes forced into making
parental decisions solely based on state laws and regulations. Parents are being held legally
responsible for declining medical decisions regarding their children. Parent are also being intimidated
by medical professionals for choosing not to vaccinate their children. Judges are ruling against legally
fit parents for seeking second options. Parents should not be fighting the court system for medical
rights. Nor should parents feel bullied by the government system. They should have the right to
choose how they parent. There are many different parenting styles, who gets to dictate which is right?
Not every family is the same, so why should the government be allowed to decide these rights and
responsibilities. No two families share the same beliefs and religions. Parenting should not be a one
size fits all. Parents should have the right to make medical and educational decisions for their children
without government interference unless there is proof of neglect or abuse, because parents ultimately
have their children best interest at heart. From the moment your child is born, they are immediately
given a series of routine test, ointments, vaccines that unless its optional by the state you have no say
in. Texas law requires health care providers apply antibiotic eye ointment to all newborns within two
hours of birth. Antibiotic eye ointment is routinely been given to newborns. It s used to prevent
neonatal conjunctivitis and complications such as blindness that can be contracted through the birth
canal of untreated gonorrhea or chlamydia mothers. Refusing to comply is a Class B misdemeanor.
Like any treatment, it comes with side effects. These can be minimal but can cause redness, itching,
stinging, or burning of the eye after applying the eye ointments to newborns. (Erythromycin
Ophthalmic) Some may argue the risk of side effects is worth not having a newborn with serious
complications like blindness. It s a valid

The Disciplinary Dilemma Of Tourism Studies
Summary of the Disciplinary Dilemma of Tourism Studies
Introduction
The study of the tourism phenomenon is a relatively recent addition in academic to achieve a goal.
Five main academic disciplines in tourism research have been identified by Jafari and Ritchie (1981)
which are economics, sociology, psychology, geography, and anthropology. A survey that conducted
by Sheldon from North American tourism and hospitality researchers showed that journal from wide
variety of disciplines were published and referenced included economics, business studies, marketing,
psychology, anthropology, and geography. Despite the diversity of disciplines impacting on tourism
studies, Pearce (1993) suggests that a greater tolerance for eclectic and diverse approaches to

These scholars seem doubtful that a distinct discipline of tourism, such as tourismology, can or should
be developed. According to Jafari (1990), tourism education and research should remain within
existing disciplines, however, he also suggest that to developed a crossdisciplinary knowledge based
platform based on a scientific foundation by the tourism scholars.
The argument about the development of disciplinary in tourism study is unlikely to be determined in
the near future. Tthe evolution of tourism studies as a distinct discipline will facing significant
challenges. So, these challenges may be provided by first examining the intradisciplinary conflicts
prevalent within each of the diverse disciplines were currently educated in tourism studies and then

and delivers one of the most intense and cinematic battles to be found in the franchise. You feel like

As well rounded and entertaining the campaign may be, the real reason Gears of War is loved by so

Self Esteem Leads To Success
How Self Esteem Leads to Success
The strongest factor for success is self esteem: Believing you can do it, believing you deserve it,
believing you can get it. by anonymous. Self esteem is the key to success because without confidence
you lose faith in yourself. Too much confidence can affect your way to success also. Success is being
comfortable with who you are.
According to Meaghan Ramsey in her TED talk Why thinking you re ugly is bad for you she states
that About six out of ten girls are now choosing not to (do the activities that they like) because they
don t think they look good enough . If girls are choosing to give up on what they are good at because
of their appearance, they might think their whole life they are not good enough for any of their
favorite activities, or even what they always dreamed being in the future when they were younger. She
next claims that Thirty one percent, nearly one in three teenagers are withdrawing from classroom
debate. They re failing to engage in classroom debate because they don t want to draw attention to the
way they look. Teens are now being afraid of participating in class because of what they think that
other people judge them. Students shouldn t be failing a class because of how they look, or what other
people think about them. Students should be proud to know the answer to a question and be able to
raise their hand without being afraid. This shows how self esteem affects your way to success.

The Beauty Myth By Naomi Wolf
The Beauty Myth, written by Naomi Wolf, is a study of how ideas of beauty oppress and restrict
women from fully realising their potential. Published in 1990, many of the battles of second wave
feminism had been won, which left many women in Wolf s position confused as to why women were
still struggling. Wolf argues that as women have shed traditional values of purity and submission, they
have instead become obsessed with the beauty myth. The more legal and material hindrances which
women have broken through, the more strictly and heavily and gruelling images of female beauty
have come to weigh upon us (Wolf 1990). As women have gained power and freedom, society has
instead forced them to waste their new found freedom and resources on ... Show more content on

Wolf argues that women as a whole could achieve much more personally, and further the causes of
feminism politically, if they were not so preoccupied with the obsession of their attractiveness, their
youth, and their ability to remain thin.
Another key element of Wolf s work is her focus on the deliberate and pervasive harm that women are
suffering due to the beauty myth. This included the increased rates and severity of eating disorders and
strict dieting, which inhibits women s strength both physically and mentally. Dieting is the most potent
political sedative in women s history; a quietly mad population is a tractable one (Wolf 1990).
Starvation inhibits the brain from thinking of anything other than one s one survival, and therefore
food, and this is a state that significant proportions of modern women exist in. Eating disorders can
also lead to other mental and physical health issues, reducing women s abilities to succeed in the
outside world, all because they are too good at what society is pressuring them to do. Another key way
in which Wolf sees the physical harm of the beauty myth is in cosmetic surgery. The United States
cosmetic surgical industry was worth $300 million when Wolf first published this book in 1991,

The Government Effect On Protests Demonstrations Protests
The Government Effect On The Protests
Protests have numerous factors that affect the result of the protest and one major
element is the government. In the 1960 s some protests were brutal due to
discrimination; yet, the largest protest achieved to maintain a safe environment because
the government respected and allowed the protests. The March on Washington for Jobs
and Freedom in 1963 peacefully gathered approximately 250,000 citizens together to
protest the high level of black unemployment, minimal wages African Americans received
for jobs, poor job mobility, and continuous racial segregation. In contrast, The Gezi
Park Protests in Turkey, Taksim in 2013 got out of control due to the government response to
the initial 50 environmentalists who opposed to cutting the trees and building a shopping mall
instead. The government used police force brutally against the activists and as a result,
approximately 3.5 million protesters right to freely voice their dissatisfaction and use the
media was constrained. So, even though today, overall technology and cities have
improved excessively, Turkey is still facing an immense pressure and constraint from
the government during protests compare to the protests fifty years ago in Washington
D.C.
In every country, protecting its citizens rights is the government s fundamental duty
in order to maintain the peace and unity. But in Turkey, citizens rights were violated
because the government used its

The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman is about a boy who escaped his parent s killer. He ran into a
graveyard and his dead mom asked the ghosts would protect him. Mr. And Mrs. Owen took him in and
named him Bod short for nobody . Bod had many qualities that made him who he was, he was
curious, strong minded, and friendly. Bod was curious even when he was a baby. When Jack killed
Bod s family, Bod escaped the crib and walked out of the house down to the graveyard. Curiosity is
important for Bod because he can experience the world outside of the graveyard. Bod always
wandered around; Ever since the child had learned to walk he had been his mothers and fathers

The And Professionals Help Create Devices That Interact...
novices and professionals to create devices that interact with their environment using sensors and
actuators. Common examples of such devices intended for beginner hobbyists include simple robots,
thermostats, and motion detectors. Arduino boards are available commercially in preassembled form,
or as do it yourself kits. The hardware design specifications are openly available, allowing the Arduino
boards to be produced by anyone. Adafruit Industries estimated in mid 2011 that over 300,000 official
Arduinos had been commercially produced, and in 2013 that 700,000 official boards were in users
hands. Hardware: An Arduino board consists of an Atmel 8 , 16 or 32 bit AVR microcontroller
(although since 2015 other makers microcontrollers have been used) with complementary components
that facilitate programming and incorporation into other circuits. An important aspect of the Arduino is
its standard connectors, which let users connect the CPU board to a variety of interchangeable add on
modules termed shields. Some shields communicate with the Arduino board directly over various pins,
but many shields are individually addressable via an I²C serial bus so many shields can be stacked and
used in parallel. Before 2015, Official Arduinos had used the Atmel mega AVR series of chips,
specifically the ATmega8, ATmega168, ATmega328, ATmega1280, and ATmega2560. In 2015, units
by other producers were added3. A handful of other processors have also been used by Arduino

  • 2. Seatbelt Safety is the first thing that should come to mind when riding in a car. There are many advertisements that promote wearing a seatbelt all the time while driving or simply being a passenger. It has been advertised through images, posters, commercials, and through social media. Some images are more effective than others, because it uses a powerful meaning or song details. The reason tis due to many fatal injuries and deaths have occurring for not wearing a seatbelt. Injuries are also the reason behind those specific laws requiring to wear a seatbelt. It is it not worth sacrificing a life, especially that of life of a young child, because the injury could have been prevented. It is up to the reader to clearly understand the message to have an effective life. The image is from 365daysofexperience.wordpress.com ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Truth is, it can happen to anyone. A person s life is never secure. That is what the first image presents, a shirt with the date of person s birthday year 1993, following a dash, following the death year of the specific person. However, this death year is covered by the seatbelt. This seatbelt covering up the death year explains that a person who wears the seatbelt, could prevent own death. This is, also the very important message the viewer must grasp. There are no words to further explain the image. This is the reason the image clearly gives the message, rather than explain it with words. This is also the relation of why the ad is an implicit appeal. It does not have anything spelled out which will make the reader really understand it. Rather it is implied, and the reader must fully comprehend the message. Although it is a positive message, it is presented with negative effects that can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Reflection Of The Myth Of Echo And Narcissus 1.1 Introduction There are many literary references to the mythological figures Narcissus and Echo. However, the most universally known is from Ovid s Metamorphoses. It is important to note that as we distance ourselves from the literary tradition that myths like Narcissus and Echo come from and as there are more and more visual representations produced, we can completely lose sight of the myth and its origins. There can be a reference to the mythological material but no direct connection. However, these visual works can also change the way in which we view and interpret the original myth from the literary tradition, making the viewers gain a new perspective. It is important to note that with every new era come different art movements which establish their own conventions through the historical and social contexts. This project will analyse how the myth of Echo and Narcissus is reflected within two visual works and if the works draw us back to the literary myth. Furthermore, connections and influence between the visual works will be determined. The historical and social contexts as well as the art movements that circulated and influenced the visual works will be analysed. Finally, the power and denial of the voice in recent decades in relation to Echo and her visual and literary representations will be studied. 1.2 Topic One: The Reflection of the Myth in the Visual Image Image One The ... • 4. Broken Covenantal Relationship Essay Charles and I, both think that the character of Tamar embodies a broken covenantal relationship. Judah, Tamar s father in law sent her back to her father s house, a widow. Judah had promised Tamar that he would give her to his third son, Shelah, when he came of age, however, Tamar remained in her father s house of some years without the Judah fulfilling his words to her. The unfulfilled words led to the broken covenantal relationship between Tamar and Judah. Another example of a broken covenantal relationship is the relationship of Queen Vashti and her husband. The king sent for Queen Vashti to join him and his friends during a feast, he ordered her to join them in nothing but her crown. Queen Vashti not willing to succumb to such humiliation, refused to do as the king wished and as a result, she was sent out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It takes an incredible degree of courageous to stand up to someone many see as an authoritative figure, and the platform of authority not necessarily for the good of all. I can relate with her courageous act. I can imagine Queen Vashti must have gone through some form of mockery before the day she finally had enough. It takes strength, and most especially perseverance to go through days like that. After standing up to the king, she didn t allow herself to be intimidated by him and his power. She stood her ground and remained relentless. The character of Queen Vashti is a sign of hope for today s society and church, as many like me who come across her character are inspired not only to be courageous and relentless, but also to be have perseverance in the face of difficulties and challenges. By identifying and entering into a covenantal relationship with the character of Queen Vashti, I hope to one day inspire younger people especially females to have courage, and to belief in their strength to want a change for themselves and their ... A proximate explanation for this would be that the behavior is triggered by the sign stimulus of an object outside the nest. Once started, the behavior must be finished. If global climate changes, the bird s rhythms may bring them to their destination before or after conditions are prime for reproduction and survival. Some fish may respond because whatever has harmed the minnow may also harm them. Others may respond because they prey on the minnows and they would easily be able to capture injured prey. Some fish may not respond at all because they are neither threatened or enticed by an injured minnow, and so they would just be wasting energy if they responded. 51.2 If predators have learned to avoid a certain insect due to its pattern, then it would also avoid all other insects with the same pattern. This irrational nonsense ignores the fact that religion can, and often does, lead to the deaths of many innocents. Not surprising, nonbelievers always tend to get the worst of any kind of so called religious persecution . Sort of makes you wonder why its even called religious persecution and not atheist persecution. Before this nonsense found its way to the first amendment of the constitution. We need to eliminate the guaranteed constitutional right to believe in dangerous ideas found specifically in religion. By doing so, we would be able to criticize religion when it steps out of line, in the SAME exact way that every other idea on earth is open to criticism. • 12. Dogmatic Ideologies In The Crucible By Arthur Miller When contemplating past societies, a subconscious critical lens is often enacted exposing the fallaciousness of their respective ideologies. The Crucible by Arthur Miller serves to provide perspective into the consequences of being confined to an ideology in a dogmatic fashion, and the fear it may inspire. The theatre piece is set during the Salem Witch Trials in late 17th century and follows the vulnerable townspeople as a syndicate of naive girls abuse the communities position as puritans to endow accusations of witchcraft. A consistent allegory between the piece and McCarthyist America, tied with context and literary techniques enables a warning against dogmatic beliefs in ideologies and the fear that can result from the unknown. The creation of an allegory connecting the Salem Witch Trials with McCarthyist America, and context, primarily historical, alerts viewers of the precaution that must be held in relation to dogmatic ideologies. In order to fully comprehend the allegorical extracts the historical context must first be understood. At the time of publication, 1953, the Cold War was in occurrence. The Cold War was essentially a war of two antithetical ideologies, capitalism (in America) and communism (in the USSR). Here, we have developed and validated a highly sensitive, specific, reproducible, and high throughput enantioselective LC MS/MS assay to quantify torcetrapib (TTB) enantiomers [(+) TTB and (−) TTB] using structurally close internal standard (IS) from small volume (100 µL) of hamster plasma. The sample preparation involved simple liquid liquid extraction of TTB enantiomers and IS (DRL 16126) from hamster plasma with acetonitrile. Absolute recovery was found to be between 64 and 68% for TTB enantiomers and 100% for IS. TTB enantiomers were efficiently separated using n hexane: propanol (80:20, v/v) at a flow rate of 0.7 mL/min on a Chiralpak AD column with a total run time 10 min. The method was found to be precise and linear (r2 0.995) in the concentration range 5 2500 ng/mL for each enantiomer with a lower limit of quantification of 5 ng/mL for each enantiomer. Sex trafficking occurs when individuals are forced to perform sexual acts without reimbursement; traffickers beat, torture, and emotionally abuse their victims into obedience. Traffickers use cunning methods to both hide their operations and force their victims into a life of submission. In a perfect world, human trafficking would be easily obliterated. However, sexual exploitation of individuals being trafficked throughout the world cannot be eradicated due to governmental corruption and cunning trafficking methods. In the United States, the Federal Bureau of Investigation s (FBI) attempts to stop sex trafficking have proven inadequate. In fact, the FBI states, Over the past decade, the FBI s human trafficking investigations have been responsible for the arrest of more than 2,000 traffickers and the recovery of numerous victims ( Human Trafficking ). While this data appears to show the magnitude of the FBI s efforts to rescue enslaved females, they reveal the difficulty of catching traffickers. According to this statistic, the government has only had the capacity to prosecute an average of two hundred traffickers per year, a very low number compared to the possible number of traffickers. Walter is obnoxious and always thinks about himself while Mama is forceful and very strict. They both play a major role in the story. Both have changed or impacted the plot and characters feelings and or thoughts. Without them in the story it would be very different. Walter is a very important character and impacts everybody by his actions and what he says and does. Walter changes a lot throughout the story. He begins to become very hostile and short tempered towards his family. He starts to lose all his family values and only starts to worry and care about the check that is coming in. He says, did it come? will somebody please listen to me today!!! This shows that he wants everyone to listen to his idea about what he wants to do with the money. While he wants this, he shows no care or regard to anyone else s ideas or thoughts about it. The quotes show how selfish and rude he is, also it shows how he has lost of all his family s values because he won t even listen to anybody else. Walter has changed his whole family. He has started so much conflict with all his family. His family at this rate will be better off without him. You ain t looked at it yet and you don t aim to speak on that again? You ain t looked at it and you have decided well, you tell that to my boy tonight when you put him to sleep on the living room couch. This just shows how much he wants to have HER money for himself because he is selfish and a shallow person. He is the reason why the family is tearing apart. Also, Walters actions show how edgy and inpatient he is. (Violently flinging the coat after her) He starts to get very violent, he flings things, slams doors, yells at mama, and starts to get verbally abusive towards her. He doesn t know how to let things go and how to think in another person s perspective. He only wants to do what he wants, he doesn t care what the other family members want he just knows what he wants to get and forces the decision upon them all. Women s Rights Violations in Afghanistan Women s Rights Violations in Afghanistan Martin Luther King Jr. once said, True peace is not merely the absence of tension, it is the presence of justice. It means that without equality, there is no real end to a conflict. Equality is one of the many human rights every person is entitled to. It is never acceptable to deny people their basic human rights; however, this has occurred frequently throughout history. A wide variety of groups have been discriminated against through violations of human rights, but women have faced this hardship the most. Los Angeles New York City vs. Los Angeles: East Coast to West Coast For Christmas and my sixteenth birthday present my parents planned a trip for me to go to New York City with my dad. Two days after Christmas me and my dad hopped on the plane and headed for New Jersey and New York City. I was very excited because I had been to New Jersey but I never visited New York City before. I also remember being excited because of that fact that I would actually get to see snow in the winter since it rarely ever snowed in Houston during the winter. Then that next year during my junior year in High School, I had the opportunity to go on a trip to Los Angeles with my drill team. I was very excited to get to go to both of these huge awesome cities in that two year period. Both of these cities were unique in their own way. So what makes a city similar to another city and what makes a city different to another city? The people, the weather, the vibe, the monuments and popular attractions are all some of the components of what makes a city unlike any other city. My two favorite cities besides Houston are New York and Los Angeles. I have visited both and like them both equally for different reasons. While New York and Los Angeles definitely have their similarities, they also have many differences that set them apart from each other. In New York they experience all four seasons. Wireless sensor network (WSN) is a group of sensor nodes able to sense, measure and, gather information from the surroundings, and transmit and receive data from the user. It implements duty cycling of transmitter (Tx) and receiver (Rx). This method incorporates timing to the Tx and Rx which decreases the waiting time. This timing circuit posts implementation problems such as increase in power, delay, and the probability of error. In some countries, executions are not only for criminal reasons, but also because of religious and racial bias. Racial discrimination began in terms of using people with black skin as slaves and servants for the rich. The racist practice against black Americans is an important example that explains how blacks were persecuted. This policy began in the United States after the American Civil War and emerged the racist legislation that supports the control of whites in the late nineteenth century. This situation made blacks angry for the loss of their rights and tough punishments up to execution because of racial grounds. Blacks began to resist this policy before World War II. Then, black American leaders have appeared like Martin Luther King and Malcolm X and called for changing the racial laws. Martin Luther King was one of the most famous advocates of the abolition of the death penalty and he said that death penalty is against the best rule of new criminology. In her article, The Death Penalty: What Would Dr. King Do? (2012) Moye commends that Dr. King utilized the ethic of peacefulness to social change. At its embodiment was a profound appreciation for the human poise in all individuals, including the oppressor and the culprit. Martin Luther King means that every human has the right to live and no one can take this right except God. On the other hand, racism has directly affected the civil rights of blacks and indirectly on their lives. For example, judgments for certain crimes against blacks are strict compared with whites and it may reach to penalty. Likewise, the poem has a very strong connection to the number two, particularly due to the rhyme and metre, but it also has two stanzas, each one showing a different point of view on the trees and the dream that had them graft ed together. The poem also contains many enjambments, which, like thoughts, continue onto the next line. In Don Miguel s stanza, they are carefree, like his thoughts, but The Man s are more impartial, as if he couldn t care at all. The Man s stanza also seems to speed up, with the enjambments rushing the stanza, almost as if, like him, the poem is hasty and thoughtless, and rushes into things. Contrastingly, The Trees by Philip Larkin has a circular structure, returning to the beginning each stanza and it also returns to the beginning of the poem at the end. It mirrors itself, starting with life, then death, and ending with life. However, throughout it is becoming softer; there are more vowels at the beginning, which makes the beginning sound harsher. I saw this creature in a movie called Percy Jackson: The Light Thief, Percy goes to the underworld to save his mother from Hades. When I read about this creature in Dante s Inferno it brought back that image I saw in the movie, very scary looking beast that is about to kill. It s my beliefs and decision that should affect how I chose to parent them. However, in today s society how much slack are we as parents really given? We are sometimes forced into making parental decisions solely based on state laws and regulations. Parents are being held legally responsible for declining medical decisions regarding their children. Parent are also being intimidated by medical professionals for choosing not to vaccinate their children. Judges are ruling against legally fit parents for seeking second options. Parents should not be fighting the court system for medical rights. Nor should parents feel bullied by the government system. They should have the right to choose how they parent. There are many different parenting styles, who gets to dictate which is right? Not every family is the same, so why should the government be allowed to decide these rights and responsibilities. No two families share the same beliefs and religions. Parenting should not be a one size fits all. Parents should have the right to make medical and educational decisions for their children without government interference unless there is proof of neglect or abuse, because parents ultimately have their children best interest at heart. • 45. The Beauty Myth By Naomi Wolf The Beauty Myth, written by Naomi Wolf, is a study of how ideas of beauty oppress and restrict women from fully realising their potential. Published in 1990, many of the battles of second wave feminism had been won, which left many women in Wolf s position confused as to why women were still struggling. Wolf argues that as women have shed traditional values of purity and submission, they have instead become obsessed with the beauty myth. The more legal and material hindrances which women have broken through, the more strictly and heavily and gruelling images of female beauty have come to weigh upon us (Wolf 1990). Wolf argues that women as a whole could achieve much more personally, and further the causes of feminism politically, if they were not so preoccupied with the obsession of their attractiveness, their youth, and their ability to remain thin. Another key element of Wolf s work is her focus on the deliberate and pervasive harm that women are suffering due to the beauty myth. This included the increased rates and severity of eating disorders and strict dieting, which inhibits women s strength both physically and mentally. Dieting is the most potent political sedative in women s history; a quietly mad population is a tractable one (Wolf 1990). Starvation inhibits the brain from thinking of anything other than one s one survival, and therefore food, and this is a state that significant proportions of modern women exist in. Eating disorders can also lead to other mental and physical health issues, reducing women s abilities to succeed in the outside world, all because they are too good at what society is pressuring them to do. Another key way in which Wolf sees the physical harm of the beauty myth is in cosmetic surgery. The Government Effect On Protests Demonstrations Protests The Government Effect On The Protests Protests have numerous factors that affect the result of the protest and one major element is the government. In the 1960 s some protests were brutal due to discrimination; yet, the largest protest achieved to maintain a safe environment because the government respected and allowed the protests. The March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom in 1963 peacefully gathered approximately 250,000 citizens together to protest the high level of black unemployment, minimal wages African Americans received for jobs, poor job mobility, and continuous racial segregation. In contrast, The Gezi Park Protests in Turkey, Taksim in 2013 got out of control due to the government response to the initial 50 environmentalists who opposed to cutting the trees and building a shopping mall instead. The government used police force brutally against the activists and as a result, approximately 3.5 million protesters right to freely voice their dissatisfaction and use the media was constrained. So, even though today, overall technology and cities have improved excessively, Turkey is still facing an immense pressure and constraint from the government during protests compare to the protests fifty years ago in Washington D.C. Common examples of such devices intended for beginner hobbyists include simple robots, thermostats, and motion detectors. Arduino boards are available commercially in preassembled form, or as do it yourself kits. The hardware design specifications are openly available, allowing the Arduino boards to be produced by anyone. Adafruit Industries estimated in mid 2011 that over 300,000 official Arduinos had been commercially produced, and in 2013 that 700,000 official boards were in users hands. Hardware: An Arduino board consists of an Atmel 8 , 16 or 32 bit AVR microcontroller (although since 2015 other makers microcontrollers have been used) with complementary components that facilitate programming and incorporation into other circuits. An important aspect of the Arduino is its standard connectors, which let users connect the CPU board to a variety of interchangeable add on modules termed shields. Some shields communicate with the Arduino board directly over various pins, but many shields are individually addressable via an I²C serial bus so many shields can be stacked and used in parallel. Before 2015, Official Arduinos had used the Atmel mega AVR series of chips, specifically the ATmega8, ATmega168, ATmega328, ATmega1280, and ATmega2560. In 2015, units by other producers were added3.
