appears when a character in the story carry forward to be alive ahead of the normal
length of life. Also where magical or unreal aspect of a natural part in a different
realistic environment and character fracture the rules of our real world. Characters
that are portrayed as magical or surreal has a statement that is behind it. An
example is Gregor in the Metamorphoses and not only did he turn into a bug but he
sent a larger message about human experience. The two stories, A Very Old Man
With Enormous Wings and the Metamorphosis, both have a symbolic mean to
humanity and realism. Gregor woke up one morning noticing something strange.
This so happened to be that he was a enormous bug. His family that he took care of
did not know what to think of it so he just felt helpless. His sister is the only one that
takes care of him and gives him rotted food, which he wanted. However his mother

for their wisdom and the old man in, A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings, was
not beloved at all. When the old man appears, Elisenda and Pelayo plan to kill him,
but Pelayo is unable to do so. He shows compassion. But he does lock the man up
and his wife decides to make money off of the angel. They benefit from the man but
do not appreciate his existence. This shows the dark side of humanity. He is
represented as a old man because of he should be respected for his wisdom. The
angel is shunned and not noticed by his intelligence by the young community, which
relates to the realism in the humanity. This is because the young pushes the elderly
aside. The angels wings has fallen and so has the spirituality of the
3. A Reflection Of A Experience For A Second Observation...
For my second observation experience, I went to the MARC. I had the opportunity
to observe a DPT3 student from UTHSCSA who was on his 3rd rotation. The MARC
has a system setup for how they handle each patient, whether it be an initial
evaluation or a regular treatment session. Patients first check in and then are sent to
the waiting room. The technician checks each patients vital signs prior to exercise. I
think this is such an important step that so many clinics don t do. By checking
vitals prior to exercise, you are able to ensure their safety and be the first line of
defense if they are having any underlying heart issues such as unmonitored high
blood pressure. If it is an initial evaluation for the patient, then they will be greeted
by the treating physical therapist and evaluated for treatment. I liked the way they
did this at the MARC but from what I understood the patients are evaluated out in
the gym area with no privacy. I believe with many diagnoses it would be beneficial
for the MARC to have rooms to make the evaluation process more private. If the
patient is presenting to the clinic for a regular treatment session, then the therapist
will either greet them to begin with manual therapyor the technician will start them
on their prescribed exercises. During my experience, the clinic was not very busy
therefore, I only had the opportunity to observe one patient being treated. The patient
was a retired male in his fifties returning for a treatment session. The DPT3 student
explained the pt was diagnosed with tennis elbow or lateral epicondylitis most likely
due to his follow through swing when playing golf. The patient stated he had played
in a golf tournament since his last treatment but utilized a homemade brace to help
with discomfort. The patient explained he was able to finish the tournament but was
experiencing a great amount of pain during and after. The therapist then asked the pt
what his level of pain was before starting treatment, then preceded to preform
mobilizations including: radial ulnar anterior and posterior glides both proximally
and distally.1 This coincides directly with what we have learned in class to do for a
treatment intervention. Following manual therapyby the PT, the

The Nile River is a majestic river that was created millions of years ago.
The river travels through the world s largest hot desert. It flows through many

5. George Orwell s Animal Farm Essay
Karl Marx, writer of Communist Manifesto, is represented as an old, wise pig in
George Orwell s Animal Farm. Because Orwell is a democratic socialist and does not
accept the ideologies of Marxism, he reveals the reality of communism and reflects
his opinions through sardonic situations that occur among animals. The state of
communismthat Marx and Friedrich Engelsdescribe is where the state is abolished,
people live in a society where members work together in agreement and no one is
exploited, and every member shares the rewards of hard work. The envisions of
Marx greatly contrasted with the plot of Animal Farm. Old Major, a pig, had a
dream that mirrored Marx and his dream of communism. This dream is ironic
because it suggests that communism is only a dream. The Soviet Union s policies
were seen as steps to reach communism, rather than the end result of communism, in
which all animals of the farm endured. The characters in animal farm had to pass
through this in between stage before becoming a complete communist society, and in
reality they remained in this stage and believed they were close to their goal.
The animals, who were the laborers, fulfilled Old Major s wish and overthrew the
capitalistic men with a revolution, much like how Marx and Engels hoped for the
day the Proletarians would overthrow the Bourgeois, the owners of private property.
He focused on arousing the animals emotionally and didn t mention any practical
reasons to help solve their issues. However,

8. How Greed Affects The Lives Of People
It is hard to believe how greed affects the lives of people. Often people do not realize
that money and power are not everything in life. During the Industrial Revolution
many people let their lives be heavily manipulated by their material wants rather than
their needs. As a result they were often unhappy with the lives they had while others
were in abundance of happiness. Charles Dickenslived during the Industrial
Revolution and knew what life was like during those times ( BBC Primary History
Famous People Charles Dickens ). In Hard Times, Dickens portrays the lives of a
group of people who were directly affected by the Industrial Revolution. Thomas
Gradgrind, Louisa Gradgrind, and Josiah Bounderby are three characters that are
deeply affected by the Industrial Revolution in the novel. The novel begins by
giving us an overview of Thomas Gradgrind beliefs. This man who is the first
character to be introduced to the readers in Hard Times is portrayed as a
monotone, mechanized man who relies solely on facts and nothing more. In the
novel he is described as, A man who proceeds upon the principle that two and two
are four, and nothing over, and who is not to be talked into allowing for anything
over (Dickens, Book the First, CH II). He also owns a school where children do
not seem to have an individual personality as they are reduced to mere number on a
list, as he refers to a girl not by her name but as girl number twenty . Additionally, his

implants. As a parent you are not only putting your child at risk, you are also
withdrawing them from the deaf community, the one they were naturally born into.
I do not support cochlear implants, children should not be implanted until they are
grown to the point where they can make their own choice During April of 2013
Elizabeth Walker and Karla McGregor wanted to determine if the three aspects of
the word learning process is a complication for children with cochlear implants. Kids
with CI s may have smaller open minded and demonstrative vocabularies than their
peers who are hearing. There is also verification that children with cochlear implants
show slower rates of vocabulary growth compared with hearing children. To achieve
great academic success children need to have a strong vocabulary. Children who are

11. Erich Fromm’s The Art of Loving Essay
Erich Fromm s The Art of Loving
Upon reading Erich Fromm s The Art of Loving, I gained a better understanding of
what love really is. Fromm s book puts love into perspective. He begins with
several facts with regards to the attitude in which people treat love. They are the
problems of how to be loved, the object to love as well as the confusion between the
initial experience of falling in love and the permanent state of being in love, which
had a great impact on me, as far as thinking about what love is.
Strangers meet, they break down social walls between one another, and they feel
close, as one. They supposedly fell in love with one another, to Fromm, falling in
love is not love, it s more infatuation. Fromm describes ... Show more content on

Fromm asserts that love is an art, and says that to truly love, in all it s forms, you
must possess Maturity, self knowledge; and Courage.
Many people pursue objects of affection, or objects of love, and treat them as
possessions. Fromm states that love is the ability to love in different forms, brotherly
love, romantic love, motherly love etc. Since Fromm says that love is an art to be
practiced, it can only be practiced in freedom with one another. You can not treat
others as objects or possessions for your own egotistical or selfish purposes because
this behavior will only result in destruction and you will never mow or attain true
love.
Erikson s psychosocial stages of development states that in order to find intimacy
and know who you are, you must resolve your conflict in the Identity vs. Role
Confusion Stage. Some individuals who never find true love can be thought of as
not having successfully completed the stage. They never resolved their conflict
thereby resulting in role confusion. Fromm states that in order to love, you must
have self love. How can you love yourself, if you don t know who you are? This is
what I feel creates the possessive love, the hurtful love, and the love that is taken for
granted. It s the one nightstand; I ll call you love.
Fromm describes what he calls the essential components that need to be mastered for
all forms of love: Care, the active concern for the life and growth of that which we
love.

Angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) on the other hand, block angiotensin II
receptor sites. ARBs have a similar mechanism of action to ACEI. Where ACEI
stops the production of angiotensin II, an ARB prevents angiotensin II from binding
to the receptor cites. The outcome of this medication would be much the same as an
ACEI. On an ARB the patient would exhibit vasodilation, decreased blood volume,
and decrease ventricular remodeling. One major difference in the two classes is that
ARBs have less incidence of cough because they do not inhibit Kinase II. This
would make ARBs a great second choice for patients who could not tolerate the side
effects of an ACEI. Although ARBs can extend the life of a patient in heart failure,

They are considered a first line drug to treat hypertension and heart failure. Overall,
diuretics will decrease blood volume, decrease venous and arterial pressure
(preload and afterload), and decrease edema both peripheral and pulmonary
(Burcham 519). Thiazide diuretics are mild and only work with relatively normal
glomerular filtration rate; if the patient has low GFR a thiazide will not provide
optimal benefits. When low GFR is indicated a loop diuretic may be the better choice.
These diuretics produce an exceptional amount of fluid loss; therefore, these drugs
should be reserved for patients with especially decreased cardiac output. When
combined with an ACEI or and ARB, both the thiazide diuretic and the loop diuretic
could substantially improve symptomatic complication in the patient; however, the
patients can experience some adverse side effects. Both can cause hypokalemia due
to the increased water elimination, this can be avoided by including a potassium
supplement in the daily routine or conscientiously eating foods high in potassium.
Potassium sparing diuretics can cause hyperkalemia because of the potassium sparing
effects, especially when paired with an ACEI or
13. Dulce Et Decorum Est Essay
Poetry as expressed by the Encyclopaedia Britannica is literature that evokes a
concentrated imaginative awareness of experience or a specific emotional response
through language chosen and arranged for its meaning, sound and rhythm. Poetry has
a large impact on modern society as it can relate to current issues in the world and
expose the truth of these problems, by conveying messages that no other form of
literature can. Wilfred Owen uses this in his poem Dulce Et Decorum Est, through
the use of different values, ideas, attitudes and various poetic techniques to protest
against the mentality that perpetuates war.
Throughout the beginning two stanza s the reader is often directly addressed,
explaining the importance and ethical issues of the war. The speaker is amongst a
group of weak soldiers that have been unexpectedly swallowed by poisonous gas
and forced to hastily pull their gas masks to protect themselves from the deadly
smog. As the speaker peers through the misty fog he watches as one of his
companions, staggers weakly towards him. The man desperately gropes the air
among them as he drops to the ground and submits to the gas, like somebody
drowning. The third stanza changes the perspective to the speaker s dreams. In this
single stanza, he proclaims that he sees the soldier falling towards him in all of his
dreams. In the final couplet, the speaker addresses the readers, informing them that if
they, too, could have undergone such dreams and witnessed... Show more content on

When his poetry is read, it feels as though you re with him on the field, watching as
your friends fight for their lives. Stuck in a war that was lead predominately in

experienced. Continually considering whether the war had been carried on beyond
point of reason, he began to express himself through poetry that highlighted the irony

14. Analysis Of Allen Ginsberg s Howl And
Allen Ginsberg was one of the greatest admired Beat Generation poets, who
particularly used free flowing, aggressive and occasionally a discourteous style of
language to show that the rule and social structure over heterosexuality can be filled
with opposition, so he decided to release queerness. Ginsberg strongly disputed
capitalism and conformity that notably consisted of sexual repression, so he
incorporated in the development of counterculture and challenged the
heteronormative, procreation driven society and was done with living at society s
limits. The idea of beat literature has a capricious form, although, also considers the
customary narration techniques, and indeed masculinist and heterosexist prospects.
The Beat generation indicates an individual that has been put down, or has been
oppressed around with deviated norms. Therefore, this impression of queerness is a
representation of him being an activist in society and used to take action to encourage
his differences, which contributes to strange and prohibited behaviours. In this essay,
being central to vicious and pleased queer performative spaces in the city and
embodying sexuality, it will examine Allen s, Howl and Sunflower Sutra ,
interpreting queer theory, and that it is essential to ideas of genderand sexuality that
are necessary for radical solidarity, Allen being a gay activist his principles of his
character seem unreasonable or destructive in contemporary political circumstances

The human diet is shaped in evolution. We spent millions of years in a foraging
lifestyle and our genome still expects us to eat this way (Gluckman et al., 2016).
But recently we have adopted a new post industrial lifestyle that seems to go
against our genetic makeup because there is an increasing trend of metabolic
diseases in our society. We noticed this trend decades ago and have been trying to
explain it. In 1962, geneticist James Neel proposed the thrifty gene hypothesis,
saying that some of our ancient ancestors with a gene variant that allowed them to
store calories as fat prevailed because it gave a survival edge during times of famine
(Johnson and Andrews, 2015). That is a great advantage during Paleolithic times

Medical professionals, manufacturers, and consumers are all aware of the negative
impacts of added sugar. So instead of curtailing a sugar addiction, scientists and
manufactures created a healthy alternative: artificial sweeteners. But artificial
sweeteners are not a healthy alternative because they too negatively impact metabolic
health.
Artificial sweeteners are known by many different names: low calorie sweeteners
(LCS), low and non calorie sweeteners (LNCS), non nutritive sweeteners (NNS), and
non caloric artificial sweeteners (NAS) (RiobГі ServГЎn, Sierra Poyatos, Soldo

add some energy value (calories) and non nutritive sweeteners, which are intensely
sweet and add no energy value (Neacsu and Madar, 2014). The Federal Drug

from foods and drinks to toothpastes and medicines. The sweeteners are used as sugar
substitutes because they are so intensely sweet that concentrations low enough do not
increase caloric content, but still provide the desired

The general appearances of those constituents were healthy, clean, and decently

17. Analysis Of Taming Of The Shrew
Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare, the indication of a woman being the
possession of her husband, and having to do everything that he proposes her to do
is presented. Katherine has to acquire appropriate manners toward a man in advance
before her sister Bianca can wed. Bianca wishes to marry one of her suitors
/bachelors, but she can t due to tradition because the older sister has to marry first.
In 10 Things I Hate About You
, a analogous argument, the notion of a girl requiring
appropriate behavior is exemplified. There are many resemblances and
dissimilarities in characters of both, for instance, Katherine and Kat, the two main
focuses, both come from families with a decent quantity of prosperity, as seen from
the housing in both aspects, as in the play, she lives in type of a Roman Villa, and in
the movie 10 Things I Hate About You, they live in a quiet, large community. An
additional likeness remains that Petruchio is compensated to get married to
Katherine, however in the up to date version; Patrick is also compensated to go out
with Katherine. In the end, Patrick and Petruchio have tamed Katherine because she
is now willing to marry/date.
The plots are very parallel. The straightforward plots of Taming of the Shrew and 10
Things I Hate About You both involve various men wanting to be with Bianca, but
Bianca has a mean, older sister named Katherine who no one wants to be with. In
both of the stories, the father of these two girls stresses that Bianca not get
18. Coal Was Formed During The Carboniferous Period
Coal was formed during the Carboniferous Period, which was between 360 290
million years ago. All of the coal originated from plant fossils. Around 400 million
years ago plants once grew around fresh water swamps. As they eventually died, the
plants fell and accumulate in the water. Many layers of sediments, mud and sand
compressed the plants and allowed no oxygen, which results in no decomposition.
Over time the layers get built up resulting in immense pressure and heat transforming
each layer into different types of coal. For the substance to be considered coal it
needed to contain less than 50% of ash forming mineral matter. The four stages of
coal are: Peat, Lignite (brown coal), Sub bituminous coal, Bituminous coal and
Anthracite.

Identifying terrorists at airports is a very difficult task for homeland security
professionals since terrorists can blend in very well with the more than 650 million
law abiding passengers that travel every year via U.S. airports (United States
Government Accountability Office, 2014). The security layered approach is a security
strategy that helps reduce the risk of a terrorist infiltrating into an airport by
employing a wide range of tools and programs that can enhance airport security
(Hoggan, 2012). The numerous layers of security are designed to be able to
prevent, identify, and stop a terrorist attack in case one of the previous security

This strategy allows DHS to be able identify suspicious individuals before they
even arrive to the airport. The names of passengers are being matched against the
database when the passengers book their flights prior to arriving to the airport, which
is more time and cost effective for DHS than having to identify suspicious
individuals among large crowds of people at airports.
As mention above, all layers of security have some weak points and the Secure Flight
program is not the exception. It may be very difficult for DHS to be able to
effectively screen suspicious individuals without disrupting the flow of passengers
since the screenings of suspicious individuals may take longer in comparison to
those passengers who do not pose a threat or are not considered suspicious.
Therefore to combat the Achilles heel of the Secure Flight program, DHS has
created the TSA pre check program. The TSA pre check is a program in which
passengers, usually those passengers who travel frequently, voluntarily submit
themselves to extensive background investigations and if the passenger is able to
meet the requirements posted by DHS, then the passenger will be allowed to go
through expedite screenings when they travel as the passenger will be considered by
DHS a Trusted passenger

Tiny told sung and told stories her. Unfortunately the mouse s neighbor, a blind mole,
liked singing and stories too. After hearing her sing, the mole fell madly in love with
the little girl and wanted to marry her. The narrator said, She was herself so frail
and delicate, that poor little Tiny was nearly frozen to death. This quote all in itself
says Tiny was so small, that the winter almost killed her. If Tiny were larger, she
would have had an easier time regulating her body temperature and the snow falling
would not have affected her as much. Therefore, Tiny would not have been almost
dead, and the mouse and the mole would have never met her.
The final event that was caused by Tiny s small stature was marrying the fairy prince.
Although incompatible for their love of sunshine, the mole wanted to marry
Thumbelina, regardless of what she wanted. With the wedding day approaching
quickly, Tiny knew she could not marry the mole, no matter how wealthy he was.
He liked dark, emptiness. Thumbelina loved light, warm sunlight. She befriended
an injured swallow and he took Tiny away before the wedding. Shortly after having
reached a place where the sun always shines, she saw a man, rather a tiny king. The
only difference was that he had wings. Instantly, Tiny was taken by how handsome
he was and vice versa. The fairy prince married Tiny. If Tiny were not as small as she
was, the swallow wouldn t have been able to lift her

Defined muscles, tan skin, and expensive cloths. These are the typical values of
someone from Jersey shore, yet they do not represent the state of New Jersey and
most American would say there are more important things in life. But looking at the
whole country there would be a consensus that the cultural values is roughly the
same. That professional baseball players are fiscally worth more than teachers and
money is the second most important thing next to food. These values may take a
different priority in a different country. Social norms and media are in every society;
therefore it is important to understand what the concepts are and how they pertain to
our lives today.
A social construction is an idea that is perpetuated and given meaning by the people
who believe in and propagate the idea. Social constructs that are not founded by
science are given sole meaning from their creators and as such can change the
meaning situationally. Over time the ideas can grow to define a culture or eventually
die out, all directly due to the amount of support each receives. An example of a
social construction would be currency and race. Currency for example takes on
different forms in physical appearance, from gold to paper, and different names
between different countries, from the Japanese yen to the Mexican peso, yet each
can be exchanged for one another in comparable amounts. The global market says
what each is worth and as such, we the consumers, believe it to be true and act
25. Comparing The Dog And The Old-Timer
London introduces the only other companion for the man on the trip, the dog a
native husky with a heavy coat of fur, which has adapted to survive the dangers of
the cold wilderness. Unlike the man, the dog does not have a sharp consciousness of
a condition of very cold such as was in the man s brain, but instead the brute had its
instinct (London 630). London contrasts the man s intelligence with dog s instinct,
which doesn t use humanmeasurements to show temperature. The man pities the dog
who was depressed by the cold and knew nothing of thermometers. But, for the man
temperature is just meaningless way of communicating coldness passed through his
generations, since it does not affect the man s judgment. The dog s instinct, inherited
knowledge from generations prior, is able to make the practical judgment that it
should not continue in the harsh weather.
The man and dog are in a battle of survival of the fittest and must adapt to the
environment in order to live. The dog and the old timer have been given survival
resources adapted over many generations. The old timer relies on wisdom passed
down from his ancestors who have learned to endure the harsh cold of the Yukon,
by traveling with another companion. If the man wished to succeed in the harsh
conditions, it would have benefited him to listen to the words of the old timer. The
man did not know cold. Possibly all the generations of his ancestry had been
ignorant of cold, of real cold (London 632). The man is
26. Fraternal Twins Nature Vs Nurture
Twins are a unique twist to life. Families are blessed with one pregnancy and two
children. Twins open a portal for researchers to study the oldest debate in psychology;
nature vs. nurture, a concept that seems to stump many and have few models to learn
from. Essentially, there are two types of twins. There are identical twins, who are
monozygotic, developing from a single fertilized egg, split. Then, there are fraternal
twins, who come from two separate fertilized eggs, making them dizygotic. Identical
twins share 100% of their DNA, practically making them clones; while fraternal twins
share 50% DNA. When studying twins, many scientists use both identical and
fraternal twins to analyze how the environment and genetic makeup can influence
attitude... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Twin studies are vital for behavioral genetics in the sense that researchers can study
how genetics can influence certain traits. For example, identical twins many be
raised in the same household and both enjoy horseback riding, while a set of
fraternal twins may not both enjoy horseback riding. The standard study
conducted is based on twins raised in the same family environment, as this method
can show how life experiences play a role. Many twins are raised in the same home
and share a lot of the same experiences, which can impact their behavior, no matter
the genetic makeup. A significant theory associated with twin studies is the
Random Mating theory. In this theory, researchers tend to assume that people are
as likely to choose partners who are different from themselves as they are to choose
partners who are similar for a particular trait (2017). While twin studies are essential
in gathering data for behavioral genetics, they can only estimate the heritability of a
trait, while molecular genetics attempts to pinpoint the effects of a particular gene.
While twins who grow up in a similar environment is the ideal method used, there
are cases that involve twins who grew up in separate environments. In Joseph s
(2014) piece, he reviews common facts and fallacies associated with studies on twins
reared apart. It was found that, a particular study,

In class, we had the opportunity to watch Anne Frank the movie, and a while back
we heard the play. The Anne Frank play was very similar to the Anne Frank movie,
but they also had some differences which made them different from each other. For
example, by watching the movie, we hear that the characters lines are practically the
same as to the characters lines in the play, this in fact is a very big similarity. In my
opinion, the movie was better because you could actually see whats going on, and
not like the play were I have to use my imagination to picture what is going on. The
movie was also better because its differences to the play made it a little bit more

curiosity and interests of students because of their unique marks in history, but what
categories does one civilization have to satisfy in order to be a Classic ? It has to
be original, influential, and timeless! The Roman Empire and the Greeks are the

As in, something made them unique and different from all the previous
civilizations. The unique factor of the Heian Period is that women were given
more rights, which led them to be culturally dominate and actively involved in the
culture of the civilization. According to the book The Tale of Genji , written by a
female novelist of the Heian imperial court, women of the Heian Period were
provided with the basic education such as, art, poetry, music, and writing. There were
also laws that protected women from abuse of male partners.(Shikibu, 2014)
Furthermore, women were allowed to divorce and remarry which was not even
available in many European countries.(Lurie, 2004) All of the following droits were
much more than what the previous Japanese civilizations offered for women. During
this period, women were still limited to outside or political activities, thus, allowing
more time to create literature. Consequently, many novels, poems, and literature from
the Heian Period are from female authors. Notably, the Heian Period was also the
peak of Japanese literature. Giving women more rights significantly changed the
behaviour of Heian women

The Old English Life of St. Margaret describes the events starting from the capture of
Margaret by Olibrius to her beheading. Throughout the entire work, Margaret stays
true to her faith in the Christian God and fights to preserve her virginity, a symbolic
representation of her loyalty to her faith. During the narrative, Margaret is tortured in
various ways to relinquish her virginity; she is beaten, boiled, beheaded, and more,
but she remains passive throughout every obstacle except her encounter with the Devil

that action raises the question of what leads her to behave in such a way? Is her

signs of aggression, Margaret remains resolute and calm. Her encounter with the
Devil, however, is delineated from the other challenges she faces because it is the
only instance she uses force to achieve her goal. Therefore, a probing question
throughout the remainder of the reading is why Margaret chooses to hurt the Devil
rather than passively resist? As evident by the text, Margaret s encounter with the
Devil is the ultimate test of her faith, therefore she uses her physical strength to exert
maximum control over the situation. Margaret s dual nature is interesting to observe,

Changing is something that someone has to want to do, if there is no motivation
things will stay the same. The first step to change is knowing and accepting the
wrong that has been done and trying to figure out a way to change. There are
numerous of practices that are used to help an offender bring their mistake to the
light. These types of methods are called Evidence Based Practices and are used to
help both the offender and probation officer learn to communicate on a different
level. Evidence based practices are cognitive behavioral training, vocational education
and training programs and treatment oriented intensive supervision program. They
are used to reintegrate offender s back into the community successfully. The type of
evidence based practice that I am going to talk about is motivational interviewing,
the pro and cons and if it helps the offenders learn from their mistakes and if it is
going to help in the future.
Motivational Interviewing is to me is someone using whether business or personal
experiences to relate and motivate those on probation. The biggest step in this is
education first on what needs to be hashed out. Second is what positive steps the
individual should take or the officer willing to point out in the rehabilitation process.
Most importantly honesty is a must. And open door can never close and motivation
cannot be forced. Through education and field work this form or communication can
be utilized and thrive in a society. According to scholars

as more came to realize the intrinsic flaws and injustice of Victorianism. Although
Victorianism had a dominant influence on the Gilded Age society, the oppressed was

Poverty is only transient. Technological development can provide a solution to this
problem. Therefore, much effort went into showcasing the technological
developments to please the people by providing an illusion of a wonderful future.
1876 Philadelphia World s Fair was such an unsuccessful attempt. The Philadelphia
World s Fair reinforced the view of American progress in economics, technology, and
social harmony. Over 45 feet tall, the Corliss Centennial Engine was an iconic
exhibition that visually displayed the majestic power of American industry. On the
other hand, the right arm and torch of the Statue of Liberty were showcased at the
Exposition, satirically displaying the freedom that only the elite and middle class
enjoyed. The Philadelphia fair received critical comments on the myth of material
and social progress that it tried to sell. In essence, by shifting public attention from
social problems to technological progress, the ruling groups used the world fairs as
measures of propaganda to soothe the working class into accepting the social
construct.

their perceptions are altered and are also easily influenced. In the poem, the

she went to and fro apologizing (11). Not only was the girlchild brainwashed into
thinking she was inadequate being herself, but her peers were also programmed into
believing that there is a standard of universal beauty that everyone should strive to

Especially when it comes to media and entertainment. You no longer have to go to
the actual location of where the performance or game is happening anymore. Now,
almost all Americans love sports having the biggest two be football and baseball.
Most of them always have a favorite team but when it comes to a game that they
don t care about it really isn t that big of a deal to them. Americans will usually
have the game playing in the background just to keep track of what is happening.
Hispanics though, will choose a team no matter who is playing, I remember going to

her house, she was cheering for one of the teams and I asked her I m guessing that
s your favorite team in which she told me that her team wasn t even playing tonight
and she just really enjoys watching soccer. With soccer being the most famous sport
and having most of its viewers coming from Spanish backgrounds it shows that
Hispanic become much more passionate for sports. When it comes to music
Hispanic and Americans are usually on the complete other sides of the scale. When
someone Hispanic listens to music they will almost always go for a Spanish singer
such as Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull, Shakira, and Gloria Estefan. Giving the support to

The AS and AD Model
Aggregate Supply (AS): The total of goods and services produced in an economy at a
given price level (P), and period of time . The AS relation P=P^e (1+Ој)F (1 Y
/AL,Z), explains the effects of output on price level. A higher output results in an
increase in price level hence the upward slope of the AS Curve2. Aggregate Demand
(AD): The total of goods and services demanded in an economy at a given price
level and period of time1. The AD relation Y=Y(M/P,G,T), captures the effect of
price level on output. A lower output leads to higher price level hence the downward
sloping AD curve2.
In the short run output can be below or above natural level, which is caused by
shifts in AS or AD. An economy is in expansion when the level of production (Y),
is above the natural level (Yn) due to increase in Investment, consumer or
government spending. The short run equilibrium is shown in graph 1, by
intersection of the AS and AD curves at point A, where the labour, goods and
financial markets are all in equilibrium. Y and P give the equilibrium level of output
and price level, the positive gap between Y and Yn is called expansionary gap2.
Adjustment: From Short run to Medium run
Overtime the economy will experience adjustment, where Y moves towards Yn.
Looking at graph 2, the short run equilibrium is at point A, where Y Yn and P Pe.
Since P Pe wage setters will increase their expectations of Pe in the future from Pe to

Thrasymachan View of Justice Reflected in Amazing Grace In the Republic, Socrates
starts the discussion with the definition of justice. When Thrasymachus angrily
interrupts and gives his own definition, he in fact takes an opposite view on justice
and argues that injustice is more advantageous and profitable. Glaucon and
Adiemantus further develop Thrasymachus view with a theory of the nature and the
origins of justiceand claim that justice is desired only for the sake of rewards. In
Amazing Grace, injustice happens every day at every corner of Mott Haven, yet there
are still a lot of citizens trying to lead a just life. In the conflict between the authorities
and the Mott Haven citizens, the ceaseless injustice in Mott Haven, and some people
s just acts, Thrasymachan view of justice is reflected. To start with, Thrasymachus
argues that it is profitable to act unjustly and harmful to act justly. When
Thrasymachus first defines justice as nothing other than the advantage of the
stronger, he refers to the ruler, which is the stronger, and the ruled (Plato, 338c). In
this context, he believes that the ruling party in any type of regime tyranny,
democracy, or aristocracy makes laws to its own advantage and defines the acts to
its disadvantage as unjust (338d 339a). For the subjects it is just to obey the laws
and serve the ruler s interest, so if there is a conflict between the interests of the ruler
and the subjects, the ruler seeks what benefits itself through laws

It s a title with a strong letter used as somewhat like a alliteration to exaggerate the
ideas within this film, V for Vendetta , directed by James McTeigue, this defines

action, sci fi and thriller scenes. V for Vendetta is a type of film where in a future,
where there was a British tyranny or corruption in the government, a shadowy
freedom fighter plots to overthrow it with the help of a young woman. This film
shows the message of the best advice is to stop fighting it and embrace the fact that
you have been given an opportunity if you chose to view it with a different set of
eyes. And yet there will be many who miss this opportunity as they feel a false sense
of security operating in the belief systems that harbor fear, anger and hate rather than
letting go to face the very emotions that enslave them. This film uses fancy quotes or
catch phrases, with a strong act of violence in acting around the main character(s),
especially the protagonist V and to the eventuality, Evey at the end of the story.
Special effects and the fanatical costume visuals (with the famous Guy Fawkes mask)

In Hotel Rwanda there are two sides to the community. The Tutsiand the Hutu, a

On the basis of United States Code, Title 10, and joint doctrine, the Marine Corps, in
coordination and cooperation with the Navy, has made logistical self sufficiency an
essential element of the Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) expeditionary
warfighting capabilities. This means that the Marine Corps logisticsmission, at all
commands and support levels, is to generate MAGTFs that are rapidly deployable,
self reliant, self sustaining, and flexible and that can rapidly reconstitute (Logistics
Operations, 1999). While the Marine Corps is unmatched in its ability to be the
most rapid responding force across the globe, a deficiency exists that should be
addressed. Over the past decade, there have been numerous successful innovations in
ground and aviation logistics, but they have lacked in standardization or integration
within the MAGTF. Emerging operating concepts such as disaggregated MAGTF
operations and seabasing, along with current fiscal constraints, are driving the need
to further modernize and integrate MAGTF logistics in order to optimize support to
the warfighter (Borrelli Hodge, 2013). Independently, the logistical concepts and
systems that exist for the ground elements and the aviation elements are proven to be
effective and efficient, however, when the aviation and ground elements work in
concert the response of logistical support is hindered. This paper will offer possible
solutions to close the logistics gap between the Marines Corps aviation and

movement evolved to become a lifestyle and an ideology. In short, the author argues
that as the Straight Edge movement evolved, the original ideology associated with
the movement shifted in the opposite direction due in part to the changing
demographic of the Straight Edge movement. The author s primary sources include

also reveals the dangers of making societal values a center of a movement, especially
since the dominant demographic of the movement can change what the values of the
movement itself. In order to attract people to a movement, the values of a movement
have to allow for a certain ambiguity, but that ambiguity can be twisted and stretched
based on the demographic and that brings up real life implications, especially when it
comes to enacting the movement s
45. Erikson Identity Crisis
Erik Erikson is a figure in psychology who examined many factors about the
personality. One of his theories revolves around identity crises, which he believed
countless people have gone through during their lives in order to solidify their
identity. Since his findings on this topic in the 1970s, others have done studies on
identitycrises and how they affect development as well. The concept of an identity
crisisis quite important in discovering how the ego grows and identity develops,
and it has been referenced many times in popular culture. Being that it is so
relevant to everyone s lives as Erikson believes, I picked this as a topic for this
paper in order to understand the concept more. In this paper, I define Erikson s idea
of identity crisis and then compare it to three other works which revolve around the
subject. Then I compare each article to Erikson, my personal experience, and
occasionally to each other in order to demonstrate how Erikson s ideas on identity
crisis are valid in a modern setting.
Identity crisis can be defined as a mental state where an individual is easily upset by a
sudden or intense stimulus where their egos seems to have lost any shook absorbing
capacity (Frager, 2013, p. 165). Furthermore, he states that these individual s egos
seemed to have lost any shock absorbing capacity and their sensory systems [are] in
a constant startled state (Frager, 2013, p. 165). He coined this term while treating
soldiers at Mount Zion Veterans
46. Roman Architecture And Architecture
As the Roman empire expanded their infrastructure over the years, they created some
of the most astounding engineering architectural developments. The Romans were
world known for their bridges, roads, tunnels, arches, vaults, and impressive
aqueducts. In addition, the Roman builders were able to dominate the landscape with
massive man made monoliths (Engineering an Empire, 2014). Their extensive
experience with the use of concrete enabled them to produce some elaborate meeting
halls, baths, and amphitheaters. Many of their constructions are still standing today
showing their exceptional engineering skills, practicality, and resourcefulness.
Ultimately, Roman leaders and engineers improved on past ideas and developments
by modifying materials and techniques that revolutionized architectural construction.
The Romans were constantly expanding their empire outward and realized that
running water was life. Therefore, they decided to look inward into improving and
preserving their quality of life in their capital city through a water distribution
system. The aqueducts developed by Roman engineers delivered 200 million gallons
of fresh water a day into Rome s major cities as well as a drainage and sewer system.
However, the construction of aqueducts was quite challenging. The Romans
engineered their aqueducts by approaching the city on a gradual gradient
(Engineering an Empire, 2014). The gradient was consistently calculated from long
distances to the actual source in the
47. Grand Inquisitor Research Paper
Abstract: During the Inquisition, a reincarnated Christ was walking the streets. As he
began to heal the sick, a cardinal ordered to have him locked up. Later that day, the
Grand Inquisitor paid the reincarnated Jesus a visit but not to praise Him instead to
reprimand Him. The Grand Inquisitor scolds Jesusfor giving humankind freedom by
refusing the three temptations of the Devil. He believes humans are too weak to deal
with the burden of freedom so unhappiness is created. To counteract the unhappiness,
the Church assumes responsibility. In other words, the Church takes the earthly
authority that Jesus denied. That s why the Grand Inquisitor locks reincarnated
Christ up then asks him to leave because he doesn t want Jesus to ruin the authority...

These two focuses are represented in the Grand Inquisitor s argument to Christ.
Dostoevsky makes his opposing point to the Grand Inquisitors argument through
Alyosha s response to Ivan, after he s finished telling the story. Alyosha describes
the Grand Inquisitor as an atheist tyrant; It s simple lust for power, for filthy earthly
gain, for domination something like a universal serfdom with them as masters that s
all they (Inquisitors) stand for. They don t even believe in God perhaps (Dostoevsky
34). Dostoevsky is trying to emphasize that not only is Jesus correct when He defends
freedom but that the Grand Inquisitor and the Church are wrong in creating and
enforcing their own rules to

It was recognized that TLS 1.0, when managing different bundles, permits the
accompanying parcels to utilize an IV that is the last figure content square of the
past bundle. At the end of the day, an assailant who can see the encoded activity
can note the IV utilized for session treat . Essentially put, a dynamic aggressor will
have the capacity to assemble the Ivs for each one record just by sniffing the
system. So if the aggressor can figure a plaintext message, he can make a theory at
the session treat and check whether the figure content matches. Rc4 Rc4 is a
stream figure made by Ron Rivest in 1980s. cryptographic count was known good

long history of cryptographic examination and cryptographic ambushes, most
noticeably the ambush on its utilization in the WEP gathering. There are number of

late research appear to have made full plaintext recovery ambushes on Rc4. One of
these attacks is a show attack, recovers the plaintext when it is sent again and again

The unit of study chosen for this final project is second grade life science. The second
grade life science standard focuses on students gaining the ability to demonstrate an
understanding of animals and their classifications. This core science content
emphasizes on students making observations and explanations about a specific
subject matter, by directly exploring and investigating. Students participation in these
assignments and investigations should be structured and monitored as they learn and
explore. The standard for second grade life science has seven core concepts,
throughout this project we will learn about one of those core subjects, such as animal
structure and function. The students will become engaged through hands on

My overall experience with these web applications was impressive and
educational. These applications are an excellent approach to keep the students
engaged in learning. My favorite application was Smore; this web application took
little to no effort to create professional looking electronic flyers. My least favorite
web application was PowToon because it was very difficult and tedious to create.
The overall ease of the use of the web applications was simple and straightforward.
Most of these web applications were easy to navigate and utilize. As a future teacher
I plan to employ these web applications because they support active engagement in
50. The Issue Of Immigration Has Been On The Forefront
Major...
Throughout America s history, the issue of immigration has been on the forefront
major debates. Immigration is among one of the most stimulating topics of
discussion. Often when discussing immigration the question of assimilation also
arises and whether or not immigrants are truly doing so. Since the beginning of this
country, immigrants and even natives of the land have been pressured to assimilate to
American Culture and to commit to its standards. When a group of people fail to
assimilate to these standards, they encounter critics. The Native Americans, who
wanted to preserve their traditions and values, had their children taken from them and
sent to boarding schools with the goal to assimilate Native tribes into mainstream
America s way of life. In the nineteenth century, the largest mass lynching, which
involved Italians , occurred in New Orleans. Italians were discriminated against
because they did not share the same traits as their Anglo Saxon camarades. (Falco)
Today, in the twenty first century, Hispanic immigrants ,and others, are also criticized
because they are believed to not be assimilating. In fact many like the Samuel P.
Huntigton, chairman of the Harvard Academy for International and Area Studies,
have voiced that the most serious threat to America s traditional identity is the
immigration of Hispanic immigrants. However, the issue may not stem from these
people themselves. The issue and controversies surrounding assimilation primarily
stems from
51. United Parcel Service (UPS)
The case analysis below will describe the labor and management dispute between
United Parcel Service (UPS) and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT)
that occurred in 1997. It will also offer insights of the strike from my view point.
This strike was considered one of the nation s largest strikes in 30 years and
certainly one of the most memorable of its time. The strike, which consisted of over
185,000 teamsters crippled the world s largest package delivery company by
effectively shutting down the operations of UPS for 15 days and costing the
company approximately $650 million in lost business. (Minchin, 2012) United
Parcel Service (UPS), also known as Big Brown was recognized for its public image
of prompt, efficient,
52. Registered Nurse Anesthetists
Service personnel experience a tremendous number of traumatic experiences while in
service. These traumatic experiences include situations such as different forms of
explosion, gun battles, vehicle crashes, helicopter crashes, intense fear, seeing fellow
service members dying as well as a feeling of helplessness (CITE). These are
situations that an average American can simply not fathom. Certified Registered
Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) who work with service personnel typically do
understand these traumatic experiences. In this article, Wilson and Pokorny
conducted a study to understand the experiences CRNAs have with service personnel
who have traumatic brain injury(TBI) and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and
are emerging from general anesthesiawith emergence delirium (ED) (CITE). There
are no studies in literature that contain information on patients with these specific
problems, which makes this study important. Wilson and Pokorny hope other
researchers will get involved to help learn more about this subject and get the service
personnel and CRNAs the advanced medical help they need.

The nine criteria are as followed: Phenomenological nod, resonancy, reasonableness,
representativeness, recognizability, raised consciences, readability, relevance, and

agreement during the interview meaning that what the interviewee said makes sense.
For resonancy in this article, the descriptions of the CRNAs experience is powerful
and can draw readers in and allow them to reflect on their own experiences.
Recognizability is when the researcher becomes more aware of what is being
experienced by the participants (CITE). These are a few examples of what each

53. Great Barrier Reef Issues
Australia has a rich hold in the world s environment due to its diverse ecosystems
and one of its biggest holds is through the Great Barrier Reef. The coral reefs here
have a significant role by protecting shores from waves and storms, provide food
and medicine, and help the economy though tourism. The reef is known for its great
beauty and sustainability of life, but in recent years that opinion may change. Many
environmental factors are causing great distress on the reef and its marine life, which
then causes disruptions to not only the reef, but also the rest of the world s
environment. Three of the reef s major problems are pollution, coralbleaching, and
overfishing; these problems alone are doing enough damage to severely impair the
function... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To cut down on pollution, the government has implemented laws to further protect
the reef. The Reef 2050 Long Term Sustainability Plan was started in 2015 to have
an overall managing system for the reef to ensure the reef s continuation for
generations to come. This plan s main points are to reduce waste from corporations,
protect surrounding islands around the reef, and to protect the marine life from
poaching and overfishing. ( Managing and Protecting the Great Barrier Reef ) There
are also more specific policies that reduce terrestrial runoff and control the crown of
thorn starfish, protect the dugongs and turtles, protect the water quality through
agricultural grants to make them eco friendlier, and managing ship pollution. (
Managing and Protecting the Great Barrier Reef ) There are also organizations, such
as the World Wildlife Fund, or WWF, that spread awareness on these environmental
issues to generate a change in legislation or society. These organizations can educate
those on important issues that impact the global society by holding events and rallies,
setting up a website or blog, and even just talking about the issues on an individual
54. Working Capital Management
CHAPTER 01 INTRODUCTION 1. Introduction of study In the present competitive
world, every firm, whether big, medium of small, needs working capital to carry on
its operations and to achieve its targets. Proper management of working capital is an
important role of firm s life. Working capital is essential to maintain the smooth
running of business. No business can run successfully without an adequate amount
of working capital. Inadequacy of working capital may lead the firm to insolvency
and excessive working capital implies idle funds, which earns no profits for business.

55. The Definition Of Being Tough
Many people have their different opinions on the definition of being tough. Whether
it s being physically, mentally, or emotionally tough. To me, in a way all of those
mean you re tough. I ve seen, heard, and been through many things that make me
tough. How are you tough? Growing up with no mother? Being bullied and still
moving on? Being able to lift 300 pounds? What makes you tough? When most
people hear the word tough they think, being strong, buff, or ripped. For instance
little children tend to say, I wanna grow up to be big and strong just like Daddy.
They don t understand that there are more things to being tough. Although, they are
not wrong. If I can lift twice my weight that makes me physically strong. And I m
going to be damn

Homosexuality, Suicide and Feminism in Cunningham s, The Hours
In Man of The Hours , an interview published in People magazine, Michael
Cunningham describes The Hours as essentially an optimistic book that deals with
the terrible things that happen to people (105). More precisely, the book is about
three women living in different eras and addresses several issues, among them
homosexuality, suicide, and feminism.
Much Cunningham s portrayal of Virginia, who is working on her famous novel
Mrs. Dalloway as the story opens, deals with her feelings about life in the suburbs,
a life in which her husband dictates such small details of her everyday life as
bedtime, how long she will be allowed to work, and even whether or not going ...

Laura s self image is that of an unpopular girl, a bookworm, and she seems amazed
that her handsome husband, had kissed, courted, and proposed to...the
bookworm...who had never been sought after or cherished (40). She marries him
out of a sense of duty and because it is what women do in 1949, but finds marriage
and motherhood smothering. She feels inept at the simplest chores, such as
creating a birthday cake for her husband and caring for her three year old son, and
prefers to spend her time reading. She has a difficult time separating the fantasy of
Mrs. Dalloway, which she is reading, and the reality of her life. She finds herself
attracted to a neighbor woman and must also deal with feelings of guilt caused by
that attraction. Pregnant, desperately unhappy, depressed, and unwilling to take her
own life, she affects her escape by abandoning her husband and children.

58. The Issue Of The Canadian Election
The 2015 Canadian election was one of great importance that showcased a changing
of guard in the Canadian political context. Key issues in this election were; Bill c 21,
multiculturalism, the refugee crisis, Marijuana legislation, war on terror and ISIS,
and environmental policies. Although these are all pinnacle matters, one of the most
pressing issue was economic policies. Economics policy is what is commonly seen
as the commons man s issues and what might win most people over in an election
cycle. Justin Trudeau and Stephen harper were the campaigns largest attractions

Trudeau representing a younger generation, with economic commitments to the

Harper to nobody s surprise is and was a fiscal conservative, meaning that the
conservative government did not want to spend much, on social welfare programs,
and various other initiatives while balancing the budget. This was perhaps the
election of fiscal conservatism as even left wingers such as The NDP and The Green
Party, who are usually the parties who suggest an easy monetary policy. Trudeau
was only person in this election who was promising an easy money policy, this idea
is not a new one, and it was originally introduced by economist John Maynard
Keynes in the 1930 s. The easy money policy guarantees an increase in aggregate
demand in the economy as the government increases spending and runs large deficits.
This is the same economic plan that would allow Justin Trudeau s father Pierre
Trudeau to prosper as Canadian Prime Minister for 15 years, and is in fact called
Trudeaunomics, based on their own personal brand of financial policies.
Why was the economy such an important aspect of the 2015 election, while not
being at the forefront of other Canadian elections similar too it? While it would be a
stretch in anybody s minds to say that the economic aspect of politics in a key
59. Gender Roles Of Women s Literature
The way in which gender roles are portrayed in children s literature significantly
contributes to the development of our youth s understanding of their own gender s
role and how they are perceived by society. It is important for children to
understand gender roles because gender roles are an essential cog in the perpetual
machine that develops our society, but these cogs have been replaced with newer,
more up to date cogs over recent years, so to speak. As society has changed, so has
the typical role that each gender plays in it, namely women. As feministic
movements have gained more and more traction in recent years, there s been a shift
in the roles and expectations placed on women. Today, more and more women are
going to college,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This holds true for young men as well, whereas if a boy is constantly reading about
being strong, adventurous, independent, and tough, he will assume that is what is
expected of him as well. Traditional roles in young adult or children s literature
would be roles that often times could be perceived as gender stereotypes, and these
stereotypes frequently reflect what is thought of as the norm . A stereotype is
defined by Merriam Webster as something conforming to a fixed or general pattern;
especially: a standardized mental picture that is held in common by members of a
group and that represents an oversimplified opinion, prejudiced attitude, or
uncritical judgment (Stereotype Definition of Stereotype by Merriam Webster).
However, stereotypes aren t always a bad thing. In some sense, stereotypes are
able to provide a sense of order and predictability, and in the purest sense of the
word, they simply are just reflections of societal patterns that have been observed
for decades. In literature, traditional gender roles tend to conform to what is the
prototypical perception of each gender, reflecting and following the guidelines set by
society. However, as time goes on, these perceptions can become inaccurate, whether
it s from social progression or a change in traditional ideals. This is why consistently
exposing children and young adults to stereotypical roles in literature can result in the
