Goodnight and the other SAS leaders expect nothing less than superior performance from the
employees, and they continue to get it. The employees are loyal and committed to the company, and
they are productive; so loyal, committed, and productive, in fact, that only a small percentage of the
employees ever leave once they have been hired at SAS. They have the employees who don t want to
leave the work even if they get little more money somewhere else as they want the peace they get in

This Corporate Social Responsibility Report reflects the core values and achievements of how SAS
does business as an employer, a software provider and a corporate citizen. The guiding principles that
launched the company in 1976 are still the foundation of the enterprise. The company strives to be

Should Congress Act Now Essay
What is your opinion on climate change? Did you know that on average every year on average, we

In the article sooner or later U.S must act on climate change laws it states it is necessary that Congress
try to design and pass a national climate change law and do it soon. It needs to hold hearings, hear
experts and other witnesses, review the evidence, and discuss the problem at length to build support. If
it needs to find ways that make businesses happy, then it should. Clearly, this will be a tough battle,
but it is necessary to try. This is saying that once congress decides on laws they will have to hold a
meeting and hearings so that the laws they make appeal to all. Those are the actions that would need to
be taken for congress and others to make new laws.

Leadership Transition Essay
Studying leadership encompasses a broad range of perspective and ways of thought. Leadership in the
context of community engagement is particularly interesting due to its relevance to fostering
community partnerships and performing relevant and useful service. Relationships between a group
and a community partner who have a need to be fulfilled is best kept in working order to allow the
best engagement and benefit possible. I specifically chose to investigate the leadership transition,
since it is highly relevant to particularly senior student leaders. Furthermore, I chose to approach my
interviews and analysis using the socially responsible leadership model. This model popularized by
Dugan frames leadership in college students as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One student after tapping the new leaders remarked, I don t think it was their first choice, like they
would ve volunteered themselves for it. This sentiment reveals the disadvantages of using this form of
choosing new leaders. Another student leader expressed that he would have rather had an election or
nomination: I wish more people in our club knew each other better, cause I think that would help with
a voting or campaigning I guess to be the leader. But we meet so infrequently. Number of students can
influence the choosing process, but this student leader pointed to a lack of group cohesion. His
comment suggests that more group bonding or strengthening activities would have allowed him to
conduct an election, but that was not possible this year. Additionally all student leaders that were
interviewed were also originally chosen to their position via this method as well. This points to a
reproduction of past leadership transition techniques and the difficulty in breaking those in certain
organizations. All in all, there are certainly barriers to choosing new leaders, and a lack of interest and
cohesion from group members seemed to be the most pressing matters.
Communication The most meaningful communication seemed to arise from face to face interactions
within leadership transition. One of the community partners spoke of having potlucks with her leaders

H. S. Department Of Homeland Security Case Study
City, state, and federal emergency management personnel across the United States encounter threats
and hazards daily. Those threats and hazards can vary in intensity between low and high levels of
danger with different severities of impacts on the citizens in affected areas. Sometimes threat and
hazards can be detected before they strike. Those early warning periods allow emergency managers to
enact preventive measures or prepare responsive plans and resources in order to stop or lessen the
impacts of the threats and hazards on the community. In order to assist city and state emergency
agencies with creating the foundations to draft, plan, and execute preventive and responsive

Hazards Context, 3. Examine the Core Capabilities Using the Threats and Hazards, 4. Set Capability
Targets, and 5. Apply the Results (D.H.S., 2012). The core capabilities by mission area identified by
the D.H.S. are prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery. The KCUATHIRA is aligned
with and covers the D.H.S. recommended core capabilities by mission area. On step 1 of the THIRA,
the KCUATHIRA lists threat and hazard scenarios to the city ranging from tornadoes, severe winter
weather, hazardous material (HAZMAT) spills, improvised explosive device (IED) attacks, terrorist
attacks, cyber attacks, emerging infectious disease outbreaks, anthrax attacks, and vulnerable
waterways and bridges (KCMO City Government, 2012). The scenarios listed were designed to
encompass the most likely situations that may occur which would cause the greatest impact to the city.
Desired outcomes are listed for each core capability by mission area as a measurable objective to be
reached by emergency managers. For the rest of the assessment, two examples of natural and
manmade scenarios will be used to describe the actions and agency methodology that may occur in
KCMO. Those two scenarios are a tornado striking the downtown business district and a complex IED
and terrorist attack affecting the Kansas Speedway race

Arguments Against The Resurrection Of Jesus
Do not abandon yourselves to despair. We are the Easter people and hallelujah is our song Saint Pope
John Paul II. The Resurrection is one of the most important miracles in the Catholic faith. It is not an
opinion but a fact. Many people, specifically atheists, try to employ erroneous arguments to refute the
historical reality of Jesus Resurrection from the dead. These so called rebuttals are unscientific and
unsupported by the facts of the matter. Furthermore by often ignoring important aspects of the event in
question all reasonableness and objectivity is lost. Here are the four most commonly used arguments
atheists use against the Resurrection debunked. The mystery of the vanishing body. Atheists claim that
Christ s body was stolen from the tomb by His Apostles while the guards were sleeping. This tall tale
was originally created by Pharisees who bribed the guards to repeat it. But the logic does not follow. If
all the guards were catching z s then how could they, or anyone, know who stole the body or even that

In fact, all who saw the Resurrected Messiah, including the Apostles and all at the mountain evidently
suffered from Schizophrenia or some other Psychotic disorder. That is to say, all eye witnesses from
that wondrous day all experienced the same hallucinations. This theory is possibly the most far
fetched. What caused these mass amounts of hallucination? And why were they all the same? Perhaps
the heat, or maybe even extra terrestrials had some work in it? Furthermore, people hallucinate what
they fear or expect; the women and the Apostles had no expectation of Christ s Resurrection due to the
fact that they themselves did not fully understand the prophecy of His Resurrection. Finally, St.
Thomas refused to believe that Christ had risen until he had seen for himself, Jesus

Keita
Learning the traditional purpose of one s name serves a core value. Until, these valuable lessons begin
to impede on one s daily life; which was demonstrated in the film Keita: The Heritage of the Griot.
The film was directed and written by Dani Kouyate, whose father, Sotigui, starred as the Griot in the
film. Mabo, one of the main roles within the film, is the depiction of a child living a post colonial
lifestyle within Africa. If not for Djeliba (the Griot) for entering Mabo s life, he would have never
have known the importance of his name. The film is a description of Mabo s history, name and
purpose, the deciding factor for him is to adhere to or precede with this path presented by Djeliba.
The post colonial lifestyle, has value to those within it, but when it is disturbed by the ancestral
calling, the reaction varies. Mabo, seeks curiosity and pride from his name, but as his family, teacher
and other influences begin to disrupt his lessons with Djeliba; it becomes obvious the amount of

an impact, as to self reflection and relating to my personal life. Especially, as the parents within the
film dispute over who knows best for Mabo, allows the viewer to see that is an universal conflict. The
characters within the film all brought a different perspective to the storyline. Though when observing

Judaism And Gender
Gender and Judaism
Judaism is a very complex, deep and meaningful religion. It includes many commandments and laws.
Women and men have specific instructions and rituals that each one has to fulfill according to their
gender. Judaism expects a specific behavior from men and another one completely different from
women. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to explain the different roles of men and women and
the more important commandments they have to accomplish based on their gender.
The Bible of the Jews is called The Torah and it states that The Lord God formed man out of the dust
of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being (Genesis
2.7). Some argue that because men were created first,

Research Paper On Marc Chagagall
Fantasy, magic, movement and life. These words describe the work of an extraordinary Artist, Marc
Chagall. At a young age, I came across one of his paintings, I and the Village, in a book I was reading.
This one painting impacted me and changed the way I viewed not only art, but the world. In this work
of art, Marc Chagall creates a world, a surface covered with representations of things... in which logic
and illustration have no importance. (Chagall). A world in which I wanted to live in. There is a peasant
and an animal, looking head to head, eye to eye with calm facial expressions. The animal, dreaming of
a perfect day. A man and woman in the middle of them, one upside down. Above them houses are
placed, upside down as well. At the very bottom is not just a plant, but a tree of life. This painting
comes to life with some geometric shapes that give a feeling of time moving by in a circular motion.
Chagall was ahead of his time. This masterpiece, created in 1911, expressed to me a wish, a theory,
that Chagall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and growing instead. This idea of human beings and animals coming together, having the same
amount of feelings and respect for one another, has been my lifetime wish. Growing up in a small
town, in the middle of the woods, I was automatically connected to the nature and wildlife around me.
We cared for the raccoons, deer, opossum, fox, chipmunks, squirrels, birds and many other creatures
just the same as we did care for our household pets. This one point in Chagall s painting, animals and
humans living on the same level, clicked with me at such a young age and it became on of my main
themes throughout my work as a growing artist, in paintings, drawings and photography. Without me
even realizing it till later. Not just the idea inspired me but the way he portrayed it as

Jealousy in William Shakespeare s Othello Essay
Jealousy in William Shakespeare s Othello
In the play Othello, jealousy and envy are prominent themes from the beginning to the end. As the
play slowly unfolds it is evident that jealousy is the cause of most of the dramatic actions which take
place in the duration of the play. It is described as the green eyed monster. Green representing the
colour of envy, and monster shows how destructive and how vicious it can be. This quotation is said
by a character named Iago. Iago has a strong manipulative mind. He is the first of all the characters in
the play to be attacked by the green eyed monster. This is very ironic, Iago is warning Othello to be
aware of jealousy, however what Othello ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are other characters that are affected by jealousy and resentment in the play as well as Othello.
There is a character called Roderigo who also suffers from jealousy. He is very eager to be with
Desdemona, who is Othello s wife. He refers to Othello as thick lips as he is black. This is a racist
comment and also shows how much Roderigo envy s Othello as Desdemona loves him and not
Roderigo.
As mentioned previously, Othello is not affected by the jealousy instantly. It is apparent that his love
for Desdemona is true. Although people have doubted if their love is true for each other. Brabantio
refers to Othello s love for Desdemona as if she in chains of magic were not bound this shows that
Brabantio is also feeling jealousy. Brabantio s relation to Desdemona is her father and he thinks that
Desdemona is showing Othello more love than she is showing to him. He is saying that Othello has
used some sort of magic to make his daughter fall in love with him. Nevertheless, Othello has only
used nothing as their love is true. Othello says she loved me for the dangers I have passed, and I loved
her, that she did pity them. This is the only witchcraft I have used Othello says that Desdemona fell in
love with him because of the dangers and the adventure in his life. He says that this is the only form

Symbolism In Richard Cory, By Edwin Arlington Robinson
Edwin Arlington Robinson was born in the village of Head Tide in the town of Alna, Maine, on
December 22, 1869, third son of Edward and Mary Elizabeth Robinson. He described his childhood in
Maine as stark and unhappy . His parents had wanted a girl, and did not name him until he was six
months old. When they vacationed for a holiday there a woman drew a name from a hat and chose
Edwin He hated the family s habit of calling him Win, and as an adult he always signed himself as E.
A. The speaker of Richard Cory uses symbols, imagery, and wordplay.
In the poem Richard Cory, the author describes the townspeople watching him as the people on the
pavement. This creates the assumption that they all admire Richard Cory for an unknown reason. As
the poem continues, he is described as a gentleman from sole to crown as if he was looked upon as
royalty. He s separated from the speaker by his wealth, his manners, and fashion. These traits make his
death at the end all the more shocking. As a reader, we are left with the realization that speaker at the
end of the poem didn t truly want to be like Cory at all. He was unhappy and people who idolized him
much prefered working for life rather than be happy and have it all. He was also a man who had
everything but had nothing all at once. Adored by many, but was loved by nobody. Robinson s writing
with his use of imagery and ironic language, gives the reader a sense of how Cory s life was
scrutinized by people who did not know him and was ultimately responsible for his death. In usual
poems the speaker is in the story itself but instead the speaker tells the story as a viewer because the
speaker did not know Cory personally. It seemed that the speaker forgot about his own life when he
observed Richard Cory s but the speaker is unaware of the suffering that lead to his suicide. Cory must
have realized that the public thought he was everything to make us wish that we were in his place .
Through this use of wordplay, the poem suggests that Cory was forced to act in an unquestionable way
because the public put him on a pedestal. He could never let his guard down he was constantly
surrounded by fanatics that expected him to act and behave like a man

Utilitarian Equality And Equality
What is equality? If one man in a room has five dollars and another man in the same room has fifty
dollars are we supposed to hold a gun to the temple of the man with fifty dollars in order to force him
into giving the man with five dollars some of his wealth? This is type of consequentialist or utilitarian
equality of outcome that was supported by some Socialist political economists of the nineteenth and
twentieth century such as Marx and Engels who would dare to go even farther in advocating for the
abolition and confiscation of property on top of a heavy graduated income tax (Marx 18). Other
theorists from the Enlightenment that were more liberally inclined such as Adam Smith and John
Locke advocated for a more deontologist framework where some would consider equal opportunity
takes precedent. This can most notably be seen through Smith when he called for an exact
administration of justice, and the creation and maintenance of public institutions that would be
advantageous for society as a whole (Smith Lecture). In other words, a just infrastructure that would
be just for all men, (women still did not possess the same rights as men at this time) in which they
hoped gave citizens an equal shot at the market and life. Bakunin, on the other hand, had similar views
as Smith in regards to equality but still maintained collectivist undertones in his writings. Bakunin
believed that freedom should be the basis of equality and that freedom of each is therefore realizable

The Culture Of America
The culture of America is marked by diversity and is constantly changing as a result of such diversity.
The question posed is, does the recent presidential election indicate a white, racist culture? The culture
of the U.S. has been, from its inception, white; our founding fathers were white. It has taken the U.S.
hundreds of years with many conflicts along the way, to start to give value to other cultures. Looking
back eight years ago to the election then; the approximate percentage of whites in the U.S. was 62.6%
(Wikipedia, 2017) and Obama was elected to presidency in 2008 and again in 2012. The ratio of white
Americans has not changed substantially and, if anything, has only decreased since then. In 2012, the
Census Bureau announced that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has only been three months since his inauguration, but rest assured, it will. History and culture go
hand in hand. Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it Sir Winston Churchill. This
saying in history is to remember that the same mistakes are not made over and over again. America is
based on individuality and that makes a homogenous culture hard. Different beliefs, different cultures,
different ethnicities, that s what once made America great in it s infancy and will do so again.
Different beliefs are what weld us together to produce a culture not seen in the rest of the world. When
Obama was elected, what were cultural anthropologists surmising then? Did they project the end of
racial tensions between whites and blacks? Yes, they were predicting a more harmonious culture.
However, that s not what happened; research indicates that racial tensions increased throughout the
Presidency of Obama. Curious? If your contention is that the election of Trump will increase white
racial supremacy, then maybe you are correct. Having a black president sure did not ensure
harmonious racial interchanges. Culture will change, however, slowly. Culture, like Rome, was not
built in a day. Young African Americans saw a black man in office and maybe that influenced quite a
few children of color to try harder, to excel, to be something more than what society dictated to them
so far.

Comparison of Vulnerability Scanners
Introduction
With the advancements in information technology, the security concern of the users in the network is
increasing drastically. Various approaches have been adopted to protect respective network from un

discrepancies that can damage the network. Most commonly used approach for this purpose is

Model Car Research Paper
One project that is very enjoyable and can be done by people of just about any age is building small
plastic model cars. It does not take a lot of skill to build one of these model cars but the more effort
that a person is willing to put into the project the better the end result can be. The first model will
probably not turn out as hoped for or expect, but with a little patience and some practice the ending
results should become better and better. The building of a model car can give a person feelings of
great accomplishment, which can help build up their self esteem. Before a person is to get started on a
model car project they will need to acquire the model kit and will also need to get some tools. The
model kits can be purchased at most hobby stores and you can get most of the tools and equipment for
building it there as well. If a person wanted to save money on some of the tools and supplies they
should be able to get some of the items at a Wal Mart or other discount stores, and some of the

Essay on Walker s Message of Personal Heritage in...
Alice Walker s Everyday Use is a short story about a mother and two very different daughters set in

final decision of which daughter ultimately receives the quilts will be made by Momma Johnson.

should not be allowed to take them, and what this tell us about Alice Walker s sense of what it means
to be in touch with one s heritage. Maggie deserves the quilts because she appreciates the practical
value of the items and would naturally use them as they were intended. Like her grandmother, Maggie
is a person who values the quilts more as a practical solution for staying warm at night than as folk art
which should be displayed in a museum. Dee s thoughts of her simple minded sister come into full
light during a conversation with Momma when her request for the quilts is denied. Maggie can t
appreciate these quilts! She d probably be backward enough to put them the everyday use. I reckon
she would, Momma replied, God knows I been saving em long enough with nobody using em. I hope
she will. (DiYanni 748) With little or no money during tough times, poorer families have often had to
be more self reliant where learning to sew was a skill that was valued and passed down to the younger
generation. Maggie embraced this skill while her more ambitious sister did not see the value in
learning such an ordinary task. She can always make more, Momma said, Maggie knows how to

have advanced farther than our society has, America is continually developing into a Brave New
World. Parallels of the two worlds exist in abundance within the novel, perhaps the most obvious
examples of which lie in the desire to retain youth and the use of drugs in both societies. World State
citizens never grow old, at least not on the surface. Huxley explains how his characters . . .keep their
internal secretions artificially balanced at a youthful equilibrium (111). The process described allows
Huxley s characters to continue to look young as their bodies grow old. Subsequently, a thirty year old
character appears the same as a sixty year old character, their skin having never wrinkled or sagged.
However, the retaining of youth does not suppress the internal effects of aging, the sixty year ... Show

Huxley s imaginative examples of how we prioritize superficial desires illustrate to the audience that
our society needs to care more about our lives and the lives of those around us, instead of looks and
drugs. For years we have used our technological and scientific improvements for our shallow desires,
not for the health of our society. The parallels between Huxley s society and ours exist because his
brave new world represents an exaggerated version of our world, he meant his novel to display the

San Manuel Bueno
In this complicated confessional written by Miguel de Unamuno, the narration in the section of the
book titled San Manuel Bueno, Martyr is led by a woman named Angela ( Angelita ) Carballino.
Living in Spain during the 1930s, Angela recounts the experience of the presence of a parish priest
named in her village of Valverde de Lucerna, as she claims he pervaded the most secret life of my soul
(207). What complicates this confessional is the clarity in who is confessing what to whom. The
confessions reveal Don Manuel to be quite the contradiction because he reveals to a select few of his
followers that he does not believe in what he preaches, ultimately raising a question of him in his role
as a priest. Further, as if he does not believe, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He does however do all in his power to suppress doubts, trying to keep her out of what he sees as
harm s way. And if doubts come to torment you, suppress them utterly, even to yourself. The main
thing is to live... (240). Don Manuel possibly broke some of the hope he initially gave to Angela by
revealing the truth to her, but to the rest of the village, they are happily remaining in this bubble of
hope and not breaking the mold. Even Angelita s brother, Lazarus, has experienced the New World
and its dark information but chooses to believe in Don Manuel s logic. Ultimately, that is his Don
Manuel s goal. For Don Manuel, to deceive is to prevent harm; to reveal is to harm (as he himself has
experienced). Above all else, Don Manuel did not use his lie or role as a tool to cause harm. His role
as a priest was used for giving meaning and purpose to people who did not have the opportunities to
discover fulfillment easily elsewhere. He has suffered a dark past inherited from his father of
struggling against ending his own life, so he must make the villagers understand how important it is to
live and not let death and this darkness torment them in life like it has for him and his own father. In
his and his father s own struggles he emphasizes How that water beckons me in its deep quiet! (243).
Don Manuel may not be a saint but he is doing more good to others than harm. He understands that to
live life as one who doubts can be too much to bear, for it opens up doors to places without answers
and hope. To deceive is a small price to pay when he can save so many lives with his human sense of

During The Mid.-Nineteenth Century, Victorian England Was
During the Mid. nineteenth century, Victorian England was divided into distinct social classes. The
three social classes included the working, middle, and upper leisure class. As the Industrial Revolution
advanced, the working class became very isolated from the leisure class and often had low paying jobs
such as a blacksmith, tradesman, and farmer. The wealthy ladies and gentlemen of the leisure class
lacked awareness that their frivolous lifestyle was built on the laborious work of the working class.
Charles Dickens wrote Great Expectations to criticize the social classes during Victorian England.
Great Expectations follows the story of working class Pip as he attempts to fit in with upper class
society while coveting for the affection ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Herbert signifies that being a gentleman comes from within, and someone s integrity, like the varnish
of wood, can always be uncovered. Herbert and Matthew Pocket are true gentlemen because of their
behavior and moral integrity, not their upbringing. Whereas Compeyson is a counterfeiter, who uses
his wealthy leisure class appearance to deceive others into thinking he is less guilty than the lower
class criminals. Additionally, when Herbert brings Pip to the Pocket household, Pip notices that Mrs.
Pocket had been raised with high expectations herself but was perfectly helpless and useless (188).
Dickens ridicules the social privilege and snobbery that is idolized in Victorian society when the self
centered Mrs. Pocket spends all her time reading books about titles and nobility. Due to the fact Mrs.
Pocket is a negligent mother, her children tumble over her feet, and also play with dangerous toys,
with the Pockets maid rescuing them from accidents. She has no skills, morality, and she lives her
entire life fixated on the false idea that she was meant for greater things. Finally, when Pip and
Herbert join a social club for gentlemen called Finches of the Grove, Pip mentions that the members
would dine expensively once a fortnight, to quarrel among themselves as much as possible after
dinner, and to cause six waiters to get drunk on

Google has acquired several companies during the past 15 years. In 2006, the company acquired
YouTube, a video sharing website. YouTube has to compete with several other video sharing sites such
as vimeo, metacafe and dailymotion. The revenue generated from YouTube is not provided by the
company. It has been speculated that advertising sales exceed that of the competition. Metacafe has
the second largest viewership of a video sharing site at 40 million worldwide. The company boasts
that they offer more exclusive videos than any other video sharing site online. Google has faced
several issues with lawsuits in recent years. Most notably, class action lawsuits have become a
concern. Lawsuits filed have included copyright, patent and trademark infringement claims. The
plaintiffs have accused the organization of illegally introducing products and services as their own. In
2008, a $125 million settlement was reached in the lawsuit filed by the Authors Guild/Association of
American Publishers. Google is constantly faced with these legal woes. Last year, The American
Society of Media Photographers filed a class action lawsuit against Google due to Google books. The
photographers accused Google of copyright infringement for providing access to millions of physical

Spectrophotometric Determination of Iron in Vitamin...
Lab 2: Spectrophotometric Determination of Iron In Vitamin Tablets
Objectives:
To determine the amount of iron in a generic vitamin tablet on a per tablet (in grams) basis.
To prepare standards using a pre made iron solution to help determine the iron content in our generic
vitamin tablets
Determine absorbances of our vitamin tablets and standards using the spectrophotometer
Method:
1. Mass three vitamin tablets that contain iron
2. Place each vitamin in a 125 mL Erlenmeyer flask with 25 mL of 6M HCl
3. Do the same as above with no vitamin (This will be the reagent blank)
4. In the hood, simmer until the vitamin completely dissolves plus an additional 3 minutes.
5. After vitamin dissolves, allow to cool and then filter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Looking at my results, for each of the vitamins I found there to be 19.2mg, 7.27mg, and 13.3mg for
each of the three vitamins we used. I know when conducting this experiment, we noticed that the final
solution for the second tablet (7.27 mg Fe / vitamin), the solution was much lighter than the other two
final diluted solutions (with the added phenanthroline, citrate solution and hydroquinone). The color
of this solution was not as dark peachy red/orange. This color was a much lighter color not showing so
much of a red characteristic and rather a lighter peachy / orange color. Furthermore, I feel that the iron
in the third vitamin was not so close to the 18 mg mark because we did stop that one a little bit early.
Due to time, the vitamin was not fully dissolved upon taking it off the hot plate, which definitely
resulted in a lower amount of iron being found in the solution. Taking the mg of Fe in each vitamin, a
ratio was set up with the mass of each tablet to find the amount of iron in one gram of tablet, resulting
in 52.5g, 18.9g, and 36.2g for each tablet respectively. In this experiment, I feel that the results I
achieved were decent. Like mentioned before, due to stopping short on the third tablet and noticing a
different color solution for the second, definitely shows that the results achieved were not to the 18 mg
iron par, but were close if it was able to be finished properly. Just by looking at my result for the first
tablet, you

90 Tickets Of Instant Noodles Character Analysis
The novel 90 Packets of Instant Noodles, written by Deb Fitzpatrick. The novel involves the act of
growing up and a twist of adventure. It is about a boy named Joel who gets sent off to solitary
confinement as punishment for a crime that has been committed. Through the book we examine how
each character faces an internal struggle or moral dilemma within themselves. The character Joel faces
moral dilemmas of friendship, guilt and not doing the right thing. In the novel, we also notice Joel s
father face internal struggles which involve his son being such a troublemaker because of the father
son relationship they have. Lastly, we witness Joel s best mate Craggs, who faces the internal struggles
of family and not being loved. All of the characters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Craggs displays the internal struggle of family through direct characterisation. On pages 89 90 you
read Joel thinking about Craggs s family problems. From page 90 you notice how as all the shouting
an anger coming from inside is being made an all Craggs does is keep his little sister Hannah safe and
reassuring her everything will be okay. This shows us a more soft, sensitive side of Craggs. Craggs
doesn t have a stable home lifestyle from indirect characterisation which represents the way he acts
out, in order to gain his parents attention, instead of always fighting with each other. On page 157
Craggs say to Joel in the letter I had to lie on my release conditions and say I d be living with the old s

Another struggle Craggs face is the fear of not being loved. Craggs doesn t have any affection from
anyone besides his sister and Joel. He fears that he want ever be loved. In the text we read how Craggs
only friend is Joel and how Joel is the person Craggs can be honest and loyal too. But after the whole
incident Craggs fear he has a lost that sense of affection. All of his internal struggles associated in the

The Idea Of Freedom From Fear
Article two of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights lists freedom from fear as a
fundamental human right. Freedom is the power or right to act, speak or think independently without
hindrance or restraint. Fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by impending danger or evil. I do not
believe that the idea of freedom from fear has changed in the last seventy years, fear is a basic survival
mechanism and although its form may change, it will always be present in one form or another,
When Franklin Delano Roosevelt presented his inaugural address in 1941 the United States was in the
midst of a great economic depression and although the United States had not yet joined the war, the
world was at war. He made a serious speech trying to comfort and bolster the people in their times of
hardship and despair. Freedom from fear was the fourth freedom that he spoke about, defining it as a
world wide reduction of armaments to such a point and in such a thorough fashion that no nation will
be in a position to commit an act of physical aggression against any neighbor. He aimed to create
world peace maintaining that wars were driven by fear and misunderstandings. His speech ou lined the

English has never been my strongest subject. Aside from those feelings, I still needed this class as a
prerequisite for my nursing major. To my surprise, I found that this class actually became easier as it
progressed. The more I had to write, the easier it became and each paper became less stressful. Over
the course of this class, there were some successes and failures, I have grown as a writer, there were
plenty of helpful resources, and it has helped prepare me for my future career. First, there were many
successes for me this semester in English 112. I have never written more than one or two papers in one

develop my knowledge and understanding about MLA format and even other formats, including APA.

The chemistry that skiers use is ski wax. This wax helps the skiers to control how their skies perform
under certain conditions. The type of ski wax depends on the type of snow they will encounter while

is on the skis as they go down the snow. On the other hand, cross country skiers must go uphill as well
as down hill, so their wax has to grip the snow while going uphill. There are two formulas for ski wax,

Persuasive Speech On Sexual Assault On College Campuses

I. Attention Step
Being sexually assaulted is one of the worst things that can happen to anyone during their lifetime.
Thesis/Preview: Sexual assault is a major problem in the United States and, specifically, on college
campuses. While no one thing will be able to solve this issue, I believe RAINN is an effective charity
that is working well to combat sexual assault and raise awareness.
II. Need
1. The problem: Sexual assault has become one of the forefront issues of our day. There has been an
increasing rate of sexual assaults in our society and specifically on college campuses.
2. Here s why this problem is really a problem: According to the national sexual violence resource
center, one in 5 women will be sexually assaulted at some point in their lives. The cost of rape costs
more than any other crime, even drunk driving; so this is one of the most common crimes in the USA.
The national sexual violence resource center also reports that it costs more annually than any other
crime, including drunk driving. Rape comes out to $127 billion while murder only comes out to $71
billion, and drunk driving $61 billion.
3. Here s how this problem impacts your life, audience: Sexual assault happens very often on
campuses. It can happen to anyone sitting in this room with me here today. 1 in 4 women experience

Descriptive Essay On Car
To start off a car defines a person very well, it shows personal interests, values, and obviously how
much money they are willing to spend on transportation. Also my personal career will definitely
contain some greasy fun work preferably Diesel Technician. One of my first few memories with cars
is me just playing with toys when I was very little. By the time I was five or six my parents had given
me a miniature truck I could drive around the block and yard. Not long after that I got into bikes.
Within a couple of months I had a fleet of bikes ranging, from a bike from the nineteen forties to a
newer chopper styled bike. As soon as I turned fourteen I got a real job. Before I could afford a vehicle
I drove around and constantly fixed my grandpa s junk truck. One bad thing is that his truck belonged
in the junkyard. It leaked gas, oil, and transmission fluid after three months of driving it and it went
straight to the junkyard. Then a couple months later at fifteen, I had already bought my own small
truck. This was quite the step up this one only leaked oil, but it was very slow. Going from zero to
sixty mph took about twenty five seconds. This is when I got myself a nice car that was fast,
comfortable, and didn t leak anything. That car was a ninety six Lincoln Town Car, but the car has
over two hundred twenty thousand miles on it. After putting ten thousand miles on it in seven months
it went to the junkyard. Now comes the nicest, most reliable, and smallest car that I

The Factor Model Developed By Costa And Mccrae
Along with defining the underlying factors of musical preference much research has explored
personality and has attempted to label different personality traits. Personality cannot be directly
observed and quantified because it is an abstract concept with several different definitions and
interpretations. For the purpose of this study, the five factor model developed by Costa and McCrae
(cite) will be used. Simply put, the five factor model (FFM) is an empirical generalization about
personality traits and how they are applied to people. The five major factors, labeled Openness (O),
Conscientiousness (C), Extraversion (E), Agreeableness (A), and Neuroticism (N) have been
extensively researched with diverse populations over the course of several decades (McCrae Costa,
2008). Although the FFM is not considered a theory of personality, it implicitly adopts the tenants of
trait theory, in that it holds that individuals can be characterized in a relatively stable pattern of
thoughts, feelings, and actions (cite).
The first factor, Extraversion, implies an energetic approach toward the social and material world and
would includes traits such as sociability, assertiveness, and positive emotionality. Individuals who are
high in extraversion are more likely to approach others at social gatherings and introduce themselves,
or take lead in organizing group projects. Extraverts are also more likely to prefer to live in larger
cities where they are surrounded by others, and

An Evaluation Of An Effective Manager Is Responsible For...
A manager is responsible for the work of their people, inasmuch as a consistently underperforming
employee relies on the direction and feedback of an effective manager. Like it or not, the system of a
performance cycle was put into place to force a manager to give feedback to their employees. Every
year, managers have an opportunity to assess and then reassess their employee s performance, and
every year in kind, they fail to reach the mark. There are two things a manager does, or fails to do, that
contribute to the success and failure of a performance cycle: fail to give real time feedback and
midcourse correction when necessary and give honest feedback during the appraisal. By utilizing the
steps of the Critical Incident Method they can attempt to add value back into the system. Business
Dictionary online defines the critical incident method as, Situation analysis technique in which actions
or behavior of an employee (during, for example, a customer service event) is recorded and examined
to ascertain the actual requirements of a successful operation (BusinessDictionary.com). By
consistently doing these two things, recording and examining behavior, value can be added back into
the performance cycle.
Performance cycles, as the name implies, are annual reporting periods that have a beginning the plan,
a middle the midterm, and an end the appraisal. Every manager is aware of the cycle, knows what is
expected of them and yet they find themselves challenged when

East Of Eden Weather Analysis
John Steinbeck has many characteristics that set him apart from other writers. Including his ability to
write many novels and all of them still be of high quality work. Perhaps one of his most notable traits
was his love for writing detailed descriptions of land and weather. The use of natural elements in East
of Eden, allow Steinbeck to emphasize motifs and themes throughout the novel. In the beginning of
East of Eden, Steinbeck can be found giving a detailed description of the two separate mountain
ranges that form the Salinas Valley. The eastern mountain range with it s wide range of magnificent
flowers is said by Steinbeck to be lovely, inviting and full of positive energy. These wonderful
mountains are known as the Gabilan Mountains. The range of western mountains is nothing like the
mountains of the east; The western mountain range is described a dark, dangerous and unfriendly

Steinbeck describes the winter weather as being gray, cold, and wet. Chapter twenty five is also when
Steinbeck informs the reader that the beloved Samuel Hamilton passed away (Steinbeck, 2002, p.309).
This is accurate foreshadowing because the gloomy weather is associated with sadness and sorrow
which is what everyone felt when Samuel Hamilton died. Another important event that weather
foreshadowed was when Abra arrived on the Trask place. Abra was a source of competition for the

contribute to Ford Australia and by extension, the individuals who give rise to the decision. As
claimed by Lex Donaldson, organizational strategy, technology, size and task uncertainty are all
contingent factors which affect the social structure of a company (Hatch amp; Cunliffe 2006).
Therefore, the level of uncertainty of Ford s environment can also have great impact on the structure
of the organization. Ford s industry and manufacturing plants give their company a mechanistic
structure. As a result, decisions are handed down from the top of the power hierarchy and work
procedures are mostly standardized and simplified. Following from that categorization, Lawrence and
Lorsch were quoted to believe that the better a company s social structure fits its environment, the
higher their rate of success. Implying Ford would succeed better if its mechanistic structure were to
change and mould to the volatility of its environment. As Rolfe and Drill (2012) outlined, the industry
had been suffering with numerous job cuts in the recent past. Ford s

Well Being
At first thought my definition of well being was simply well physically, without sickness and or pain.
It wasn t until this class that I learned the true meaning of well being and that there are more indicators
than just physical or health. According to Miriam Webster, Well Being is the state of being the state of
being happy, healthy, or prosperous. MSN Encarta says Well being is having good fortune or health.
Emotional well being, like physical health, can be judged on a variety of dimensions. Yet, in both
realms, it is difficult to say which of these dimensions are essential for overall well being. Can I say
that I am in good physical shape because I am free of disease, or must I also have an abundance of
energy and a great deal of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1994/95 (the most recent data available), 45% of women aged 18 or older reported that they were
trying to do too much at once; While only 38% of men felt this way. Work, family and social
commitments often contribute to a sense of time pressure, feeling that one has not met others
expectations and feeling unappreciated. The resulting stress can influence the onset and progression of
physical illness and diminish one s feeling of well being. (Lerner Levine Malspei 1581)
At the same time I believe the support of my family as well as my fiancé has helped to foster my sense
well being. While I am currently under a great deal of stress, I take great comfort in knowing that I
have the support and love of my friends, family and fiancé. It makes me feel good to know that these
people are there for me and love me unconditionally even if I appear to be the cranky, unhappy, sad or
even mad. Social support often helps people cope with stress and illness, and it sometimes influences
physical health.
(Lewis Haviland 326) There are several types of social support, including affection, social interaction,
emotional or informational support, and tangible support. Affection is having someone who shows you

Resistance To Civil Government Thoreau Summary
In the essay Resistance to Civil Government, Thoreau, the writer, begins by saying he agrees with the
motto That government is best which governs least. Thoreau says that one day men will be able to go
without the government since the government isn t useful and better when it s not there. Thoreau
presents an effective argument by explaining what is injustice with our government and how we
should fix it. The three things that Thoreau wants the readers of his essay to do is to fight for what is
right, to not be associated with something that is wrong and to obey your own laws and try to flourish
them in your own way. The first thing that Thoreau wants the readers to do is to fight for what is right.
Thoreau goes on by saying how unjust the laws are. He states that the Mexican War is an illegal war
so by the government forcing Thoreau to pay the poll taxes that go to support the illegal war is unjust.
Thoreau believes in doing what is right over what the government tells us to do. Thoreau also talks
about the farmers who are letting the government control them instead of protesting against the
government. the government makes unjust laws that people should cease to associate with. In fact,
Thoreau says the American people would have been even more successful in these endeavors had
government been even less involved (SparkNotes Editors). The next thing Thoreau wants the readers
to stand up for is slavery. There is the enslavement of one sixth of the population. For there to

Dbq On Thomas Paine
Paine rejected the traditional ideas of government and had a vision for a future society that
transcended the minds of the known world. He advocated independence from Great Britain and played
a major impact in jump starting the American Revolution by elucidating the impracticalities of
aristocratic hierarchy, established religion, and social injustice. However, Paine was more than just a
wishful thinker. Thomas Paine was a utopian and promotes his utopian vision in his political writings
in order to try and establish a possible future which is for the common good of humanity.
Topic sentence. Paine was very critical of the political views shared by the government leaders of
Great Britain. In particular, he did not believe countries should ... Show more content on

Another problem which Paine found with the society of his time was social injustice. In Agrarian
Injustice Paine expresses that it is wrong to say that God made rich and poor, He made only male and
female; and He gave them the earth for their inheritance (Agrarian Justice). Paine is trying to show
that people of all kinds of social standing are equal and it is a government s responsibility to treat them
that way. He goes on to explain that poverty is not natural but is a creation of humans as a result of
civilized life. Paine explains the main way that humans have created social injustice is through the
division of private property among citizens. He states that division of property has dispossessed more
than half the inhabitants of every nation of their natural inheritance, without providing for them, as
ought to have been done, an indemnification for that loss (Agrarian). Paine explains this to show that
those in poverty are unable to control the situation they are in so all people should have a mutual
obligation to help out everyone in

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus And Its Effects On The Body...
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, or Erythematous, also known as SLE, is a chronic inflammatory,
autoimmune disease that transpires when the body s own immune system assaults, with variable
manifestations , it s own tissues and organ systems throughout the itself1,2,3. This can also include
joints, heart, lungs, skin, brain, blood cells, etc1. Systemic Lupus Erythematosus is known to have an
impact on the organ network involved with immune complexes and multiple antibodies, especially
antinuclear antibodies, or ANAs, an abnormal antibody that is targeted to cause certain edemas
throughout the body and different tissues4. Like lightning or tiger stripes, no two diagnoses of
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus are exactly alike. Some signs and symptoms might be mild, while
others could be more severe, occurring suddenly or possibly developing slowly over time1. Cases of
SLE could be a permanent fixture in an individual s life, or could be temporary, decreasing in
occurrence or symptoms in women during and after menopause1. Fatigue is one of the more common
signs and symptoms in close to 80% of the cases reported, which in turn leads to decreased physical
activity and subsequently a lessened ability to execute activities of daily living because of the decline
of isometric strenght2,4. Because of the fatigue and having lower dynamic muscle strength , impeded

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart As A Composer Of The Classical Era
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart once said, Music, even in situations of the greatest horror, should never be
painful to the ear but should flatter and charm it, and thereby always remain music. If you have ever
heard of his music, you would understand how much truth is in that quote. Mozart was born on
January 27, 1756 and he was a composer of the Classical era. He was born in Salzburg and ever since
he was a child has always showed his interest in the category of music. He was the son of Leopold and
Anna Maria Mozart. His father was a teacher and was also the chapel master in the court orchestra of
archbishop of Salzberg. Mozart composed more than 600 works, and many of those were
acknowledged as pinnacles of symphonic, concertante, chamber, operatic and choral music.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was the youngest of seven children, five of whom died in infancy. Maria
Anna was his elder sister and was the other who survived past infancy. His family made several trips
while growing up to Europe where he started his career as a child prodigy. These began with an
exhibition in 1762 at the court of Prince elector Maximillian III of Bavaria in Munich, and at the
Imperial Court in Vienna and Prague. Shortly after, Mozart wrote his first symphony when he was
eight years old, even though some say that his father did most of the work for him. In 1747, he
married Anna Maria in Salzburg and then became the orchestra s deputy Kappellmeister in 1763.
By the age of five, Mozart was fluent on the

Frederick Douglass And Karl Marx And Friedrich Engels
Both authors Frederick Douglass and Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels focus on the topic of freedom.
Both authors argue that they are being oppressed. However, this is where the similarities end. Engels
and Marx believed that capitalism was a social system used by the proletariats to oppress the
bourgeoisie, and that the only way to be free was to fight back against the system. On the other hand,
Frederick Douglass focuses more on his individual story and his struggle for freedom, while he tries to
appeal to his audience from an ethical point of view. Frederick Douglass biography revolves around
the idea of freedom. After seeing a traumatizing incident as a child, Douglass slowly begins to realize
that he is not a free human being, but is a slave owned by other people. He is surrounded by a society
that devalues him and people like him, and systematically worked to keep them ignorant and
submissive. In this society, it is made clear that no slave is special, and everyone is replaceable. Rather
than accept this, Douglass struggles to maintain what little autonomy he was allowed to have. When
his one of his masters, Thomas Auld, bans his mistress, Sophia, from teaching Douglass how to read,
Douglass learned from the young boys on the street. His biography shows him transforming from an
ignorant child into his older, more learned self. Douglass sees the idea of slaves in a country that is as
passionate as about its revolution as America hypocritical; in fact, this is the basis

The Biodiversity At Lido Beach
Abstract This study investigated the biodiversity at Lido Beach in Long Island. The objective was to
investigate how biodiversity changed for areas away from human habitat. Salt marshes and wetland
are under severe threat due to irresponsible actions on the part of humans. There needs to be an
awareness and understanding in the general public as to the importance of these natural habitats and
their significance to the general ecosystem. There is enough evidence to suggest the degradation has
already happened, and how critical it is to protect salt marshes and wetlands. The results were
encouraging as they pointed in the general direction that diversity was not impacted close to the
pathway that was subjected to human traffic. However, the data collected did not point to any specific
conclusions. Nonetheless, it provided valuable information on the subject of the study. The results for
the entire class data indicated that for richness, there was a positive correlation between the family
richness of the samples and the distance from the path. Specific results for one group for each sample
point indicated that for richness, there was more richness observed near the path than away from it.
For evenness, the results indicated that as the distance from the path increased, the evenness did not
have a clear pattern, even though there was a general increase in evenness away from the path,
especially, as shown by the 30m and 50m sampling points. For proportional

Cultural Differences Between Food And Food
In today s society of the United States, eating has become a staple activity among family and friends
get togethers, holidays and sports activities. Food continues to prove itself to be a big part of one s
religious identity . Throughout other areas of the world, people are eating a variety of different foods
as a way of survival. In America, we would never think of eating these various types of foods as a
means of survival. Food has become a key to survival as people rely financially on the resale of foods,
as well as nutritionally to fuel one s body, and socially to entertain themselves, families and friends.
Food proves itself to be a social distinction between the rich and the poor and their families around the
world as they share a common similarity for their love of food. The various pictures in this assignment
depict many cultural differences as well as diversities related to their food choices. The contrasts
between the diets and cost of food for The Aboubaker, Ahmed, and Revis families are quite striking
when one spends the time to analyze the photos.
The first family in the assignment is the Aboubaker family. The picture shows the family is living in
the Darfur province, of Sudan. The Aboubaker family is seen living in a refugee camp located in the
desert sands. The climate in the region varies with extreme hot and dry spouts, while rainfall only
comes during the wet season, which is only a short period of time. In the picture we can see that the

How To The Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum
I went to the Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum for my art experience project. I was
impressed with the amount of statues I was able to see in one place. A majority of them seem to have
been created and donated by the Fredericks family themselves. As I said before the amount of statues
in this little space is impressive, however my first impression is the feeling of claustrophobia.
The statues are packed in fairly tight and the space overall doesn t seem to be well utilized. The room
it was in did however provide an ample amount of natural light from the large windowed wall to the
north. This coupled with the recessed lighting did a good job of lighting the statues facing the northern
wall. Unfortunately though, some of the statues are facing the southern wall and lose a little detail to
not being as well lit from only the recessed lighting. The contrast between well lit and dimly lit does
lend to contrast in light and shadow for the statues facing the east and west walls. The contours of
these statues are much more defined because of the line of contrast so they seem to draw me in the
most. I also get this cold feeling, even though the floors are more of a warm/neutral color. I believe
this is due to the lack of a large amount of the statues not being colored at all. The few that are colored
are just antiqued bronze so they are mostly that powder blue/green color. The lack of color though, I
feel, is intended to make a point.
It seems as though the artist meant for

The group will be free to go about everything as they please. There might as well not be a leader
present at all when it comes to a laissez faire leader. It will be difficult for a group with this type of
leader to stay on task, especially when the group comes across a problem or conflict. The leader will
not step up and take action, and the group members might not be capable of getting through this
obstacle. Right in the middle of the authoritarian and laissez faire leaders is the democratic leader. The
climate provided by a democratic leader will be more desirable compared to those of the other two
styles of leadership. Allowing the group to reach a consensus rather than a leader making all of the
decisions, will give the members of the group a sense of belonging.
3. Dear Coworker,
In order to create an effective agenda you should gather all of you information before anything else.
Once you know everything you would like to incorporate into your meeting it will be easier to
categorizing the information into sections for your agenda. The first step to building an effective
agenda is to start with your meeting goals. Placing the goals at the top of your agenda will allow the
members to keep the primary issues in mind throughout the meeting. Also, placing your most
important meeting goal first will ensure the group puts in the most effort in achieving that goal. Here s
an example of the meeting goals section:

In the article sooner or later U.S must act on climate change laws it states it is necessary that Congress try to design and pass a national climate change law and do it soon. It needs to hold hearings, hear experts and other witnesses, review the evidence, and discuss the problem at length to build support. If it needs to find ways that make businesses happy, then it should. Clearly, this will be a tough battle, but it is necessary to try. This is saying that once congress decides on laws they will have to hold a meeting and hearings so that the laws they make appeal to all. Those are the actions that would need to be taken for congress and others to make new laws. Those were my three reasons on why laws should be made NOW on climate change. • 4. Leadership Transition Essay Studying leadership encompasses a broad range of perspective and ways of thought. Leadership in the context of community engagement is particularly interesting due to its relevance to fostering community partnerships and performing relevant and useful service. Relationships between a group and a community partner who have a need to be fulfilled is best kept in working order to allow the best engagement and benefit possible. I specifically chose to investigate the leadership transition, since it is highly relevant to particularly senior student leaders. Furthermore, I chose to approach my interviews and analysis using the socially responsible leadership model. This model popularized by Dugan frames leadership in college students as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One student after tapping the new leaders remarked, I don t think it was their first choice, like they would ve volunteered themselves for it. This sentiment reveals the disadvantages of using this form of choosing new leaders. Another student leader expressed that he would have rather had an election or nomination: I wish more people in our club knew each other better, cause I think that would help with a voting or campaigning I guess to be the leader. But we meet so infrequently. Number of students can influence the choosing process, but this student leader pointed to a lack of group cohesion. His comment suggests that more group bonding or strengthening activities would have allowed him to conduct an election, but that was not possible this year. Additionally all student leaders that were interviewed were also originally chosen to their position via this method as well. This points to a reproduction of past leadership transition techniques and the difficulty in breaking those in certain organizations. All in all, there are certainly barriers to choosing new leaders, and a lack of interest and cohesion from group members seemed to be the most pressing matters. Communication The most meaningful communication seemed to arise from face to face interactions within leadership transition. • 5. H. S. Department Of Homeland Security Case Study City, state, and federal emergency management personnel across the United States encounter threats and hazards daily. Those threats and hazards can vary in intensity between low and high levels of danger with different severities of impacts on the citizens in affected areas. Sometimes threat and hazards can be detected before they strike. Those early warning periods allow emergency managers to enact preventive measures or prepare responsive plans and resources in order to stop or lessen the impacts of the threats and hazards on the community. In order to assist city and state emergency agencies with creating the foundations to draft, plan, and execute preventive and responsive emergency plans, The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (D.H.S.) ... The core capabilities by mission area identified by the D.H.S. are prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery. The KCUATHIRA is aligned with and covers the D.H.S. recommended core capabilities by mission area. On step 1 of the THIRA, the KCUATHIRA lists threat and hazard scenarios to the city ranging from tornadoes, severe winter weather, hazardous material (HAZMAT) spills, improvised explosive device (IED) attacks, terrorist attacks, cyber attacks, emerging infectious disease outbreaks, anthrax attacks, and vulnerable waterways and bridges (KCMO City Government, 2012). The scenarios listed were designed to encompass the most likely situations that may occur which would cause the greatest impact to the city. Desired outcomes are listed for each core capability by mission area as a measurable objective to be reached by emergency managers. For the rest of the assessment, two examples of natural and manmade scenarios will be used to describe the actions and agency methodology that may occur in KCMO. • 6. Arguments Against The Resurrection Of Jesus Do not abandon yourselves to despair. We are the Easter people and hallelujah is our song Saint Pope John Paul II. The Resurrection is one of the most important miracles in the Catholic faith. It is not an opinion but a fact. Many people, specifically atheists, try to employ erroneous arguments to refute the historical reality of Jesus Resurrection from the dead. These so called rebuttals are unscientific and unsupported by the facts of the matter. Furthermore by often ignoring important aspects of the event in question all reasonableness and objectivity is lost. Here are the four most commonly used arguments atheists use against the Resurrection debunked. The mystery of the vanishing body. Atheists claim that Christ s body was stolen from the tomb by His Apostles while the guards were sleeping. This tall tale was originally created by Pharisees who bribed the guards to repeat it. But the logic does not follow. If all the guards were catching z s then how could they, or anyone, know who stole the body or even that it was stolen for that matter? ... And why were they all the same? Perhaps the heat, or maybe even extra terrestrials had some work in it? Furthermore, people hallucinate what they fear or expect; the women and the Apostles had no expectation of Christ s Resurrection due to the fact that they themselves did not fully understand the prophecy of His Resurrection. Until, these valuable lessons begin to impede on one s daily life; which was demonstrated in the film Keita: The Heritage of the Griot. • 9. Research Paper On Marc Chagagall Fantasy, magic, movement and life. These words describe the work of an extraordinary Artist, Marc Chagall. At a young age, I came across one of his paintings, I and the Village, in a book I was reading. This one painting impacted me and changed the way I viewed not only art, but the world. In this work of art, Marc Chagall creates a world, a surface covered with representations of things... in which logic and illustration have no importance. (Chagall). A world in which I wanted to live in. There is a peasant and an animal, looking head to head, eye to eye with calm facial expressions. The animal, dreaming of a perfect day. A man and woman in the middle of them, one upside down. Above them houses are placed, upside down as well. At the very bottom is not just a plant, but a tree of life. This painting comes to life with some geometric shapes that give a feeling of time moving by in a circular motion. Chagall was ahead of his time. We cared for the raccoons, deer, opossum, fox, chipmunks, squirrels, birds and many other creatures just the same as we did care for our household pets. This one point in Chagall s painting, animals and humans living on the same level, clicked with me at such a young age and it became on of my main themes throughout my work as a growing artist, in paintings, drawings and photography. • 10. Jealousy in William Shakespeare s Othello Essay Jealousy in William Shakespeare s Othello In the play Othello, jealousy and envy are prominent themes from the beginning to the end. As the play slowly unfolds it is evident that jealousy is the cause of most of the dramatic actions which take place in the duration of the play. It is described as the green eyed monster. Green representing the colour of envy, and monster shows how destructive and how vicious it can be. This quotation is said by a character named Iago. Iago has a strong manipulative mind. He is the first of all the characters in the play to be attacked by the green eyed monster. This is very ironic, Iago is warning Othello to be aware of jealousy, however what Othello ... There is a character called Roderigo who also suffers from jealousy. He is very eager to be with Desdemona, who is Othello s wife. He refers to Othello as thick lips as he is black. This is a racist comment and also shows how much Roderigo envy s Othello as Desdemona loves him and not Roderigo. As mentioned previously, Othello is not affected by the jealousy instantly. It is apparent that his love for Desdemona is true. Although people have doubted if their love is true for each other. Brabantio refers to Othello s love for Desdemona as if she in chains of magic were not bound this shows that Brabantio is also feeling jealousy. Brabantio s relation to Desdemona is her father and he thinks that Desdemona is showing Othello more love than she is showing to him. He is saying that Othello has used some sort of magic to make his daughter fall in love with him. Nevertheless, Othello has only used nothing as their love is true. Othello says she loved me for the dangers I have passed, and I loved her, that she did pity them. • 11. Symbolism In Richard Cory, By Edwin Arlington Robinson Edwin Arlington Robinson was born in the village of Head Tide in the town of Alna, Maine, on December 22, 1869, third son of Edward and Mary Elizabeth Robinson. He described his childhood in Maine as stark and unhappy . His parents had wanted a girl, and did not name him until he was six months old. When they vacationed for a holiday there a woman drew a name from a hat and chose Edwin He hated the family s habit of calling him Win, and as an adult he always signed himself as E. A. The speaker of Richard Cory uses symbols, imagery, and wordplay. In the poem Richard Cory, the author describes the townspeople watching him as the people on the pavement. This creates the assumption that they all admire Richard Cory for an unknown reason. As the poem continues, he is described as a gentleman from sole to crown as if he was looked upon as royalty. He s separated from the speaker by his wealth, his manners, and fashion. These traits make his death at the end all the more shocking. As a reader, we are left with the realization that speaker at the end of the poem didn t truly want to be like Cory at all. He was unhappy and people who idolized him much prefered working for life rather than be happy and have it all. He was also a man who had everything but had nothing all at once. Adored by many, but was loved by nobody. Robinson s writing with his use of imagery and ironic language, gives the reader a sense of how Cory s life was scrutinized by people who did not know him and was ultimately responsible for his death. In usual poems the speaker is in the story itself but instead the speaker tells the story as a viewer because the speaker did not know Cory personally. It seemed that the speaker forgot about his own life when he observed Richard Cory s but the speaker is unaware of the suffering that lead to his suicide. Cory must have realized that the public thought he was everything to make us wish that we were in his place . Through this use of wordplay, the poem suggests that Cory was forced to act in an unquestionable way because the public put him on a pedestal. He could never let his guard down he was constantly surrounded by fanatics that expected him to act and behave like a man ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Utilitarian Equality And Equality What is equality? If one man in a room has five dollars and another man in the same room has fifty dollars are we supposed to hold a gun to the temple of the man with fifty dollars in order to force him into giving the man with five dollars some of his wealth? This is type of consequentialist or utilitarian equality of outcome that was supported by some Socialist political economists of the nineteenth and twentieth century such as Marx and Engels who would dare to go even farther in advocating for the abolition and confiscation of property on top of a heavy graduated income tax (Marx 18). Other theorists from the Enlightenment that were more liberally inclined such as Adam Smith and John Locke advocated for a more deontologist framework where some would consider equal opportunity takes precedent. This can most notably be seen through Smith when he called for an exact administration of justice, and the creation and maintenance of public institutions that would be advantageous for society as a whole (Smith Lecture). In other words, a just infrastructure that would be just for all men, (women still did not possess the same rights as men at this time) in which they hoped gave citizens an equal shot at the market and life. • 13. The Culture Of America The culture of America is marked by diversity and is constantly changing as a result of such diversity. The question posed is, does the recent presidential election indicate a white, racist culture? The culture of the U.S. has been, from its inception, white; our founding fathers were white. It has taken the U.S. hundreds of years with many conflicts along the way, to start to give value to other cultures. Looking back eight years ago to the election then; the approximate percentage of whites in the U.S. was 62.6% (Wikipedia, 2017) and Obama was elected to presidency in 2008 and again in 2012. The ratio of white Americans has not changed substantially and, if anything, has only decreased since then. In 2012, the Census Bureau announced that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It has only been three months since his inauguration, but rest assured, it will. History and culture go hand in hand. Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it Sir Winston Churchill. This saying in history is to remember that the same mistakes are not made over and over again. America is based on individuality and that makes a homogenous culture hard. Different beliefs, different cultures, different ethnicities, that s what once made America great in it s infancy and will do so again. Different beliefs are what weld us together to produce a culture not seen in the rest of the world. When Obama was elected, what were cultural anthropologists surmising then? Did they project the end of racial tensions between whites and blacks? Yes, they were predicting a more harmonious culture. However, that s not what happened; research indicates that racial tensions increased throughout the Presidency of Obama. Curious? If your contention is that the election of Trump will increase white racial supremacy, then maybe you are correct. Having a black president sure did not ensure harmonious racial interchanges. Culture will change, however, slowly. Culture, like Rome, was not built in a day. Today, our technological and scientific developments keep thousands of people, if not happy, then comfortable. Correspondingly, the inhabitants of the World State portrayed in Aldous Huxley s Brave New World live entirely content lifestyles due to their technological and scientific advances. Both the World State and modern American societies share a common background, and while Huxley s futuristic world may have advanced farther than our society has, America is continually developing into a Brave New World. Parallels of the two worlds exist in abundance within the novel, perhaps the most obvious examples of which lie in the desire to retain youth and the use of drugs in both societies. World State citizens never grow old, at least not on the surface. Huxley explains how his characters . . .keep their internal secretions artificially balanced at a youthful equilibrium (111). The process described allows Huxley s characters to continue to look young as their bodies grow old. For Don Manuel, to deceive is to prevent harm; to reveal is to harm (as he himself has experienced). Above all else, Don Manuel did not use his lie or role as a tool to cause harm. The color of this solution was not as dark peachy red/orange. This color was a much lighter color not showing so much of a red characteristic and rather a lighter peachy / orange color. Furthermore, I feel that the iron in the third vitamin was not so close to the 18 mg mark because we did stop that one a little bit early. Due to time, the vitamin was not fully dissolved upon taking it off the hot plate, which definitely resulted in a lower amount of iron being found in the solution. The Factor Model Developed By Costa And Mccrae Along with defining the underlying factors of musical preference much research has explored personality and has attempted to label different personality traits. Personality cannot be directly observed and quantified because it is an abstract concept with several different definitions and interpretations. For the purpose of this study, the five factor model developed by Costa and McCrae (cite) will be used. Simply put, the five factor model (FFM) is an empirical generalization about personality traits and how they are applied to people. The five major factors, labeled Openness (O), Conscientiousness (C), Extraversion (E), Agreeableness (A), and Neuroticism (N) have been extensively researched with diverse populations over the course of several decades (McCrae Costa, 2008). Although the FFM is not considered a theory of personality, it implicitly adopts the tenants of trait theory, in that it holds that individuals can be characterized in a relatively stable pattern of thoughts, feelings, and actions (cite). The first factor, Extraversion, implies an energetic approach toward the social and material world and would includes traits such as sociability, assertiveness, and positive emotionality. A manager is responsible for the work of their people, inasmuch as a consistently underperforming employee relies on the direction and feedback of an effective manager. Like it or not, the system of a performance cycle was put into place to force a manager to give feedback to their employees. Every year, managers have an opportunity to assess and then reassess their employee s performance, and every year in kind, they fail to reach the mark. There are two things a manager does, or fails to do, that contribute to the success and failure of a performance cycle: fail to give real time feedback and midcourse correction when necessary and give honest feedback during the appraisal. By utilizing the steps of the Critical Incident Method they can attempt to add value back into the system. Business Dictionary online defines the critical incident method as, Situation analysis technique in which actions or behavior of an employee (during, for example, a customer service event) is recorded and examined to ascertain the actual requirements of a successful operation (BusinessDictionary.com). By consistently doing these two things, recording and examining behavior, value can be added back into the performance cycle. • 34. Michiko Takahashie Diary Analysis Hello diary. My name is Michiko Takahashi and I am fifteen years old. I live on a very small farm on the outskirts of Vancouver, British Columbia. I went to Prince of Wales secondary school. I absolutely love photography so there will definitely be photos included in my journal. I have a little sister named Akiko which means bright child and a little brother named Kazuhiko which means harmonious prince . We call him Kiki. My older brother s name is Daichi which means great wisdom . I am writing in this diary because I can write whatever I want to, for example, my thoughts and feelings, and nobody can judge me. I can write my opinions and thoughts here without my parents judging me. Sometimes our ideas clash, but I love them anyway. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He also denied ever taking it which didn t help things at all for him because I found my diary sitting on his bed. I wasn t even snooping through his room. I couldn t find my diary and was panicking, and when I was walking past Daichi s room, I saw it sitting right out in the open on his bed. Thank goodness it was still shut. If anyone of Japanese descent went into any of the restricted areas, they would be put into prison. Because they are Japanese, the sentence would probably be extremely unfair. Including his ability to write many novels and all of them still be of high quality work. Perhaps one of his most notable traits was his love for writing detailed descriptions of land and weather. The use of natural elements in East of Eden, allow Steinbeck to emphasize motifs and themes throughout the novel. In the beginning of East of Eden, Steinbeck can be found giving a detailed description of the two separate mountain ranges that form the Salinas Valley. The eastern mountain range with it s wide range of magnificent flowers is said by Steinbeck to be lovely, inviting and full of positive energy. These wonderful mountains are known as the Gabilan Mountains. The range of western mountains is nothing like the mountains of the east; The western mountain range is described a dark, dangerous and unfriendly place. In chapter twenty five, Steinbeck describes the winter weather as being gray, cold, and wet. Chapter twenty five is also when Steinbeck informs the reader that the beloved Samuel Hamilton passed away (Steinbeck, 2002, p.309). This is accurate foreshadowing because the gloomy weather is associated with sadness and sorrow which is what everyone felt when Samuel Hamilton died. Another important event that weather foreshadowed was when Abra arrived on the Trask place. Abra was a source of competition for the boys for she was one of the only womanly figures in the Trask boys lives and each boy wanted her all to himself. As claimed by Lex Donaldson, organizational strategy, technology, size and task uncertainty are all contingent factors which affect the social structure of a company (Hatch amp; Cunliffe 2006). Therefore, the level of uncertainty of Ford s environment can also have great impact on the structure of the organization. Ford s industry and manufacturing plants give their company a mechanistic structure. As a result, decisions are handed down from the top of the power hierarchy and work procedures are mostly standardized and simplified. Following from that categorization, Lawrence and Lorsch were quoted to believe that the better a company s social structure fits its environment, the higher their rate of success. Implying Ford would succeed better if its mechanistic structure were to change and mould to the volatility of its environment. • 39. Resistance To Civil Government Thoreau Summary In the essay Resistance to Civil Government, Thoreau, the writer, begins by saying he agrees with the motto That government is best which governs least. Thoreau says that one day men will be able to go without the government since the government isn t useful and better when it s not there. Thoreau presents an effective argument by explaining what is injustice with our government and how we should fix it. The three things that Thoreau wants the readers of his essay to do is to fight for what is right, to not be associated with something that is wrong and to obey your own laws and try to flourish them in your own way. The first thing that Thoreau wants the readers to do is to fight for what is right. Thoreau goes on by saying how unjust the laws are. He states that the Mexican War is an illegal war so by the government forcing Thoreau to pay the poll taxes that go to support the illegal war is unjust. Thoreau believes in doing what is right over what the government tells us to do. Thoreau also talks about the farmers who are letting the government control them instead of protesting against the government. the government makes unjust laws that people should cease to associate with. In fact, Thoreau says the American people would have been even more successful in these endeavors had government been even less involved (SparkNotes Editors). The next thing Thoreau wants the readers to stand up for is slavery. There is the enslavement of one sixth of the population. For there to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He goes on to explain that poverty is not natural but is a creation of humans as a result of civilized life. Paine explains the main way that humans have created social injustice is through the division of private property among citizens. He states that division of property has dispossessed more than half the inhabitants of every nation of their natural inheritance, without providing for them, as ought to have been done, an indemnification for that loss (Agrarian). • 44. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart As A Composer Of The Classical Era Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart once said, Music, even in situations of the greatest horror, should never be painful to the ear but should flatter and charm it, and thereby always remain music. If you have ever heard of his music, you would understand how much truth is in that quote. Mozart was born on January 27, 1756 and he was a composer of the Classical era. He was born in Salzburg and ever since he was a child has always showed his interest in the category of music. He was the son of Leopold and Anna Maria Mozart. His father was a teacher and was also the chapel master in the court orchestra of archbishop of Salzberg. Mozart composed more than 600 works, and many of those were acknowledged as pinnacles of symphonic, concertante, chamber, operatic and choral music. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was the youngest of seven children, five of whom died in infancy. Maria Anna was his elder sister and was the other who survived past infancy. His family made several trips while growing up to Europe where he started his career as a child prodigy. These began with an exhibition in 1762 at the court of Prince elector Maximillian III of Bavaria in Munich, and at the Imperial Court in Vienna and Prague. Shortly after, Mozart wrote his first symphony when he was eight years old, even though some say that his father did most of the work for him. In 1747, he married Anna Maria in Salzburg and then became the orchestra s deputy Kappellmeister in 1763. By the age of five, Mozart was fluent on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Frederick Douglass And Karl Marx And Friedrich Engels Both authors Frederick Douglass and Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels focus on the topic of freedom. Both authors argue that they are being oppressed. However, this is where the similarities end. Engels and Marx believed that capitalism was a social system used by the proletariats to oppress the bourgeoisie, and that the only way to be free was to fight back against the system. On the other hand, Frederick Douglass focuses more on his individual story and his struggle for freedom, while he tries to appeal to his audience from an ethical point of view. Frederick Douglass biography revolves around the idea of freedom. After seeing a traumatizing incident as a child, Douglass slowly begins to realize that he is not a free human being, but is a slave owned by other people. He is surrounded by a society that devalues him and people like him, and systematically worked to keep them ignorant and submissive. In this society, it is made clear that no slave is special, and everyone is replaceable. Rather than accept this, Douglass struggles to maintain what little autonomy he was allowed to have. When his one of his masters, Thomas Auld, bans his mistress, Sophia, from teaching Douglass how to read, Douglass learned from the young boys on the street. His biography shows him transforming from an ignorant child into his older, more learned self. Douglass sees the idea of slaves in a country that is as passionate as about its revolution as America hypocritical; in fact, this is the basis ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. The Biodiversity At Lido Beach Abstract This study investigated the biodiversity at Lido Beach in Long Island. The objective was to investigate how biodiversity changed for areas away from human habitat. Salt marshes and wetland are under severe threat due to irresponsible actions on the part of humans. There needs to be an awareness and understanding in the general public as to the importance of these natural habitats and their significance to the general ecosystem. There is enough evidence to suggest the degradation has already happened, and how critical it is to protect salt marshes and wetlands. The results were encouraging as they pointed in the general direction that diversity was not impacted close to the pathway that was subjected to human traffic. However, the data collected did not point to any specific conclusions. Nonetheless, it provided valuable information on the subject of the study. The results for the entire class data indicated that for richness, there was a positive correlation between the family richness of the samples and the distance from the path. Specific results for one group for each sample point indicated that for richness, there was more richness observed near the path than away from it. For evenness, the results indicated that as the distance from the path increased, the evenness did not have a clear pattern, even though there was a general increase in evenness away from the path, especially, as shown by the 30m and 50m sampling points. Food continues to prove itself to be a big part of one s religious identity . Throughout other areas of the world, people are eating a variety of different foods as a way of survival. In America, we would never think of eating these various types of foods as a means of survival. Food has become a key to survival as people rely financially on the resale of foods, as well as nutritionally to fuel one s body, and socially to entertain themselves, families and friends. Food proves itself to be a social distinction between the rich and the poor and their families around the world as they share a common similarity for their love of food. • 48. How To The Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum I went to the Marshall M. Fredericks Sculpture Museum for my art experience project. I was impressed with the amount of statues I was able to see in one place. A majority of them seem to have been created and donated by the Fredericks family themselves. As I said before the amount of statues in this little space is impressive, however my first impression is the feeling of claustrophobia. The statues are packed in fairly tight and the space overall doesn t seem to be well utilized. The room it was in did however provide an ample amount of natural light from the large windowed wall to the north. This coupled with the recessed lighting did a good job of lighting the statues facing the northern wall. Unfortunately though, some of the statues are facing the southern wall and lose a little detail to not being as well lit from only the recessed lighting. The contrast between well lit and dimly lit does lend to contrast in light and shadow for the statues facing the east and west walls. The contours of these statues are much more defined because of the line of contrast so they seem to draw me in the most. I also get this cold feeling, even though the floors are more of a warm/neutral color. I believe this is due to the lack of a large amount of the statues not being colored at all. The few that are colored are just antiqued bronze so they are mostly that powder blue/green color. The lack of color though, I feel, is intended to make a point.
