Vygotsky s Theory Of Cognitive Development
Learning Journal Entry 5 Theories of Cognitive Development (Vygotsky)
Unlike Piaget, Vygotsky alleged that adults play a fundamental role in the development of children as
they nurtured their learning in a premeditated way (McDevitt et al, 2013), rather than entrusting it to
natural processes. Vygotsky also believed that language played a primary responsibility in a child s
development, while Piaget excluded this from his theory (McDevitt et al, 2013). The social
experiences a child encounter along with conversations they have with others and themselves (self
talk), greatly influences their capacity to grow and learn. One of the benefits of Vygotsky s theory of
cognitive development is the Zone of Proximal development. Where children are frequently being
pressed to the limit of their comfort zones within learning in order of forward progression (McDevitt
et al, 2013).
In Vygotsky s theory, he developed nine key ideas. These ideas include:
Key Principles General Description
1. Some cognitive processes are seen in a variety of species; others are unique to human beings
(McDevitt et al, 2013, p.220). Vygotsky held belief that there is two different mental functions that
species exhibit (lower and higher) (McDevitt et al, 2013). He explained that many species demonstrate
lower mental functions (determining which foods to eat), unlike human beings which are unique in
their use of higher

The Artist Of Brownstones By Jacob Lawrence
Topic 1: Brownstones is a bit of abstract art depicting a group of what appear to be African Americans
going about their lives on a busy street. This is a clear piece of the architecture that led to the swelling
civil rights movement of the 50s. During the 1920s and 1930s, as a result of the combined forces of
the Great Migration, the Depression, the Jazz Era, and the Harlem Renaissance, Harlem was
transformed into a community with a unique identity. A sanctuary for African American art, this new
cultural oasis enjoyed a sense of optimism in spite of economic difficulties. Like many writers and
artists of his time, Jacob Lawrence, the artist of Brownstones, was inspired by the dynamic vitality of
the Harlem community. One of the more interesting aspects of this is the communal response that was
brought about by the Renaissance . Initially during the civil rights movement it was students who
marched at the forefront, those with nothing to lose and everything to gain. However, over time the
movement blossomed fully, and those from all walks of life stepped up to defend liberty. In the wake
of the assassination of Martin Luther King, we as a nation(most of us anyway) stood as one against
oppression and hatred. We fought the good fight, without weapons or blows, but with dollars, steps
and words. It wasn t a war though. You don t win wars by dying for your country, you win by making
the other guy die for his. This was a rebellion, two sides claimed they held the same

What are the Causes and Effects of poverty in the United States?
Jose Flores
Blackstone Academy Charter School
Are all Americans grateful for the things they have? What if Americans do not to have the proper basic
needs? Many Americans do face this situation and it is called poverty. The top three causes of poverty
in United States are lack of education, unemployment and the high cost of health insurance.
Americans can overcome the high rate of poverty and alleviate their struggles by maintaining and
furthering their education which will lead to higher paying jobs and with good medical benefits. In the
state of Rhode Island, 15% of the population is facing the struggle of poverty, based on Rhode Island

2011. P.11). Having the flood at this period of time was a good thing. It put many Rhode Islanders
back to work. However, many small business are closing down in RI, causing many people to lose
their jobs. This is due to the high taxes, fees and regulations that small businesses face if they want to
operate in Rhode Island. All these factors in Rhode Island have impacted the high unemployment rate
thus leading to the high state of poverty. Another factor that will lead one into poverty is the inability
to afford health insurance. A journalist from the Providence Journal, Dujardin, mentioned that Rhode
Island has an average of 18,000 children 17 years of age and younger who were without health
coverage between 2007 and 2009, up from the 16,000 average recorded three years earlier (Richard C.
Dujardin 1). It is not required by law that people should purchase their own health insurance in RI.
Not purchasing health insurance can cause a very serious situation. For example, if one were to be in a
car accident or become ill, not having the medical insurance, they will have to pay large amount of
money out of their own pockets. Lastly, one of the biggest causes of poverty is lack of education. In
the United States, everyone is entitled to a free and appropriated public education. However, not many
take advantage of that opportunity. In Rhode Island, 91% of high school students attend school but
only 76% of them graduate out of the whole state. In Central

Kasischke s Disappearance
Laura Kasischke s poem Bike ride with older boys examines the theme of power imbalance between a
young thirteen year old and older boys in a modern day society. Kasischke s poem explores the
vulnerability of young girls and the emotions of regret by presenting her poem in an informal matter,
in the past tense by reflecting on a memory of when she was thirteen, where she had the opportunity to
meet older boys at stop n go . The poem juxtaposes the flashback Kasischke has in her kitchen by
providing the audience with two scenarios in which could have happened without revealing to much.
In the first scenario she dispenses that it was the best afternoon of [her] life , the boys were respectful

Military Ethos In The Army Essay
According to Military 1 TD (2010), The Army ethos is based on the qualities portrayed by a great
number of gallant warriors in Malaysian history since the Malacca Sultanate, throughout World War II
and the Emergency, and right up to the most recent UN missions. They invariably exhibit magnificent
warrior ethos of the Malaysian soldier, identifiable, yet unchallenged. Similarly, the following ethics
will be further nurtured, developed and drilled into all members of the Malaysian Army so that it
remains a force to be reckoned with. These are summarised as follow:
a. Belief in God. Belief in God is the main pillar of the Army ethos. This entails the highest

Riccio et al (2004), define military ethos as warrior ethos in the US Army were it will help to ensure

To What Extent Was the Growth of Chartism the Most...
To what extent was the growth of Chartism the most significant development in the popular protest in
the period 1815 1848? I think that Chartism was the least significant development in the popular
protest period 1815 1848 because they did not achieve any reform until after the Chartist movement
had ended by 1849. This was mainly due to the fact they had so many diverse aims and members
which led to their weakness, they were not united under a single aim like other groups such as the Anti
Corn Law League which led to them trying too much in a short space of time being labelled as the
Umbrella movement . I think that the Anti Corn Law League was the most significant development in

The Swing Riots was the next most significant development because this was the first large scale
demonstration of agricultural labourers in the south which fuelled a fear of revolution in Britain. The
Swing Riots also influenced the Poor Law amendment act of 1834 which abolished outdoor relief and
was replaced by the workhouse. They also influenced the Tithe commutation act 1836 and the Great
Reform Act 1832. Despite these influences there were limitations to the influence of Swing as
conditions in the countryside remained poor for agricultural labourers and wages and working/living
conditions did not improve for them at all. The new poor law also meant that people had to go into the
workhouse if they couldn t support themselves. The Tithe remained an economic burden for rural
communities and they did not benefit from the 1832 reform act. Merthyr rising was also a significant
development in popular protest as they impacted on the reform act because there was a fear of
revolution because this was an organized mass protest and one of the motives of the protest was the
rejection of the 1st reform bill. The riot showed the increasing influence of other groups like the Trade
Unions and the spread of radicalism. The Merthyr Riots also saw the first welsh working class martyr
in Dic Penderyn who was arrested during the riots. Although, there were limitations to the influence of
the Merthyr Riots as the Truck

A Trip On The Earth s Sister Planet
Synopsis: Astronauts are travelling to Venus. This is the first human mission ever to visit Earth s sister
planet. They must survive a many month journey in cramped quarters, and that isn t even the difficult
part. It is necessary for them survive on the surface of Venus as well. The second planet in our Solar
System is not a hospitable place. The crew will have to face the challenges of Venus s high winds and
violent storms, the crushing air pressure, and more. Using the Russian Venera missions as a guide, the
scientists planned what they hope will be a safe mission for the astronauts to travel there and back
safely. My sci fi story will follow the perspective of one of the Hesperis crew members on a journey
though the inner solar system. In order to develop an idea of how the astronauts will be able to land
and live on Venus safely, we will need to study the missions to Venus. From 1961 1983 Russia
developed the Venera missions, which traveled to Venus [2]. At this point in time, Russia has been the
only country to land spacecraft on the planet, though none of the probes lasted especially long. In
1978, the United States launched the Pioneer Venus 2 probe. It made it into Venus s atmosphere and
survived long enough to reach 110 km above the surface, but this was the closest the United States
ever got to landing on Venus [1]. Russia accomplished a total of sixteen Venera missions [2]. We will
not be focusing on Venera 1 or 2, because these did not make it into Venus s

I Ching And Confucianism
The I Ching, the Book of Change, the foundation of all Chinese religion and science, is an ancient
Chinese divination text that provides influential text in religion, literature, and art. It provided
guidance for moral decision making, based on Taoism and Confucianism. The I Ching can be read as a
microcosm of the universe, explaining how to keep human behavior in unity with the alternating series
of nature. Chinese tradition was divided into Confucianism, the exoteric, and Taoism, the esoteric, but
both see the world and God as a whole, the cosmos. Although different, both religions allowed their
followers to find God in all things, Confucianism through the natural order, and Taoism through the
Tao. Both of these religions encouraged knowledge beyond the physical world and beyond that which
can be known with the senses. Confucianism puts emphasis on relationships and social harmony,
keeping the core humanistic, more focused on problems of ethics and society. It revolves around the
pursuit of unity of the self and the Principle of Heaven, the cosmos, which overrule human efforts.
Confucianism is often called rujiao, meaning the teaching of the ru, which is one who is conversant
with the Heaven, Earth, and humans, the three domains of human knowledge. Then there is ren which
is the collection of all essential human qualities. Confucianism regards the activities of human life as a
manifestation of the sacred, because they are the expression of our mortal

Changing is Growing Throughout this poem, The Sun Goes Down on Summer by.Steve Lawhead, a
student is worried about going back to school after summer break. He shows a significant concern for
his grades, behavior, academic achievements and societal interactions, and is trying to come to terms
with his impending doom he faces. Time and again in the poem, the author expresses their worries
about fitting in, being himself and making friends. By the time the poem ends the author seems to
have accepted that he should just be himself and take on the new year, 41 42 When the doors open on

H R Block Performance Management Best Practices
H R Block Performance Management Best Practices
During the time that I spent in labor force I was able to work with numerous of people in various
fields of work. When I first read this assignment, I knew exactly who I wanted to interview. Indeed,
out of all the people I ve worked alongside with, none made an impression on me quite as much as my
former manager Maria from H R Block. Her commitment, friendliness and work ethic were nothing
short of extraordinary. She was the first and only thought that came into my mind when I thought of
who to interview for this assignment.

She was so well liked that clients would come from cities 100 miles away just to get their returns

Despite the fact that H R Block is the biggest tax firm in the world, it still has many venues for
growth. In my interview with Maria, she mentioned to me that many people are off put by H R Block
due to the high prices. Other tax preparation firms charge anywhere from $50 $300 for a return while
H R Block charges range from $50 $700 returns. This staggering price range is the reason why many
people will risk doing their taxes with smaller and less organized firms rather than H R Block. The
reason why H R Block sets their price so high is because it backs each return with audit protection and
demands that the preparer checks every return carefully before being sent to the IRS. Maria claimed
that if more customers knew about the unparalleled quality of H R Block s guarantees, as well as the
danger and stress of an IRS audit, many more people would do their returns at H R Block instead of at
a cheap and risky unofficial stores . In order to solve this issue, Maria told me that she was trying to
emphasize the company s guarantees to the marketing team so they could make commercials and
brochures advertising this fact of H R Block. Americans need to consider the face that H R Block is
the largest tax preparation firm in the country. However, as Maria puts it: There is always room for

Non Systemic Testimonial Injustice By Miranda Fricker
Non systemic Testimonial Injustice In Testimonial Injustice by Miranda Fricker, she identifies that
there are systemic testimonial injustices and they relate to a common prejudice towards the speaker.
Fricker uses the term testimonial injustice, which is an injustice to someone whom is unjustly
perceived by others to have less knowledge than he/she actually has. An example of a systemic
testimonial injustice would be the accent of a speaker, causing the speaker to receive a credibility
deficit. The speaker is wronged in his/her knowledge as a result of the prejudice employed against
him/her. However, Fricker did not include an exhaustive enough list of testimonial injustices. More
specifically, I argue that Fricker overlooked a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of a credibility deficit would be a professor at a university receiving less credibility and
respect of his knowledge due to his accent. His accent could lead the students to believe he isn t
capable to be someone who holds much knowledge. The students doing so wrongs the professor, and
he is receiving testimonial injustice. This type of testimonial injustice is systemic and not justified as
the professor is assumed to have this job because he is properly qualified for the position. This
example is systemic because it contains a connection with a common prejudice that occurs often in
society. People with accents often face prejudice and receive a credibility deficit as a result. According
to Fricker, testimonial injustices occur when identity power is in play. Identity power is whenever
there is an operation of power with shared concepts of social identities. An example Fricker uses of
active identity power is a man silencing a woman with a joke about her in The Talented Mr. Ripley.
There are two types of operations of power discussed by Fricker. An example of passive identity
power is a woman being silenced simply because she is a woman and feeling like she shouldn t speak
out. Identity power can work in a positive manner or a negative manner. An example of identity power
working positively would be a group of people voting because it s a common practice in their social
group. Identity power working negatively would be a group of

National Strategic Guidance And The Global Security...
General Dempsey articulated the United States military is the premier global military with a decisive
military advantage but dominance just doesn t happen necessitating the United States military to
maintain the decisive edge. Dempsey s statement is the catalyst for the premise of Joint Force 2025 in
which the United States military embarks upon a transition and rebalance to address a wide continuum
of emerging threats to our nation s national interests in the foreseeable future. Dempsey correctly
states that adaptation and innovation are essential to the Joint Force 2025 as we have to out learn and
out think our adversaries. This essay will recommend general capabilities of Joint Force 2025 which
are necessary to transition and rebalance the force based on strategic guidance and the global security
environment which provides the combatant commander with right sized capabilities in support of the
nation s strategic interests. Utilization of national strategic guidance will lay the foundation for the
assessment of each service s general capabilities in support of Joint Force 2025 while also appraising
risk implications in the foreseeable global security environment.
The 2014 Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR) clearly states the path forward for the United States
military consists of adaption, reshaping and rebalancing the force in a fiscally constrained
environment while actively defending the homeland, building security globally and projecting power
and winning decisively.

the novel, Lina Mayfleet is helped by many extraordinary characters who went out of their way in
order to help. Doon Harrow, Mrs. Murdo and Clary Lane all helped Lina Mayfleet in different ways in
order to help her overcome many difficulties. First, Doon helped Lina put together and examine the

Their Granny was the last family member they had left to take care of them, and when Granny died
the kids really had nowhere to go. She (Lina) was grateful for Mrs Murdo s kindness. I am not ready
yet to be alone in this world, she thought. (DuPrau, 306). Lina was extremely thankful for Mrs. Murdo

Mrs Murdo briskly, it s just common sense. You need a place, I have one. You go on now, and I ll see

doesn t see her amazingly thoughtful deed as a big deal at all. She might have just been the biggest

If Beale Street Could Talk Analysis
Throughout If Beale Street Could Talk by James Baldwin the main characters have to overcome the
challenges of racism, and the traits that go hand and hand with it, justice and prejudice, to realize what
they actually needed was the family love they already had. Even though there are many romantic and
even some graphic passages in the book, Baldwin mainly focuses on how they had to come together as
a family when Alonzo (Fonny) was in jail and awaiting trial. If Beale Street Could Talk is essentially a
story about the human capacity to love.
After Clementine s (Tish s) meeting with her immediate family, they call over Fonny s family to share
in the news that Tish is pregnant. During a normal situation this would be a happy occasion and the
couple would tell both families at once, together. However Fonny has been in jail for roughly three

angry and aggressive outbursts followed by periods of remorse and guilt, declining academic

All of the individual s symptoms must cause significant distress or impairment at home, work or

listed in the DSM IV TR includes an overly high, expansive, or irritable mood present for at least one
week; but if the child has been hospitalized, this time period may be shorter. Three of these symptoms
must also be present: a decreased need for sleep, talkativeness or a feeling of pressure to keep talking,
abrupt changes of topic during speech or racing thoughts, distractibility, increased activity, excessive
involvement in pleasurable but high risk activities (e.g. reckless driving, substance abuse,

Hidden Depths In Will Smith s Life
Hidden Depths After analyzing the text from Will Smith s life it is clear to me that the characteristics
he had can be characterized as a cross between ego and super ego. In my opinion by analyzing Will
Smith s personal life it is clear to see that he puts the priorities of others before his needs. He obeys to
the social norms and in my opinion has no representation of an ID Factor. A perfect example of this is
looking at his life with his children. Will Smith puts the needs of his family before himself. Thus in
this one particular time when he was on tour he had opportunities to be unfaithful to his family
however he decided that it was not logical two act on his instincts or urges. Throughout the book it
appears that I can find a few defensive mechanisms used in Will Smith s life however the two
prominent ones that can be seen in my opinion would be denial and sublimation. The first clear

Sherman Alexie Rhetorical Devices
Sherman Alexie a Native American writer and recipient of the Native Writers Circle, grew up on the
Spokane Indian Reservation in Washington. Alexie writes about his early childhood and obstacles he
faced at a young age in The Joy of Reading and Writing: Superman and Me. Alexie emphasizes on
how reading is important to succeed, not only for Native Americans, but for other minority groups.
Throughout the essay Alexie uses rhetorical devices such as repetition and selective diction to sculpt
his main idea. At an early age Sherman Alexie was exposed to all types of literature because of his
father westerns, spy thrillers, murder mysteries, gangster epics, basketball player biographies and
anything else he could find. Alexie s father was one of the few Native Americans that went to a

outlet from the negative environment he grew up in, but also the way out. Sherman Alexie also uses

against Anglo domination is that of Mariano Vallejo, a Mexican elite who owned a 65,000 acre spread
of land in California where he made of living through grape vines and livestock. Furthermore, Anglo s
from the East were invading the West due to the gold rush. In addition, once the gold had been wiped

Brick Lane Mosque In The 19th Century
Brick Lane Mosque, similarly to other mosques across the globe, displays non existent segregationist
attitudes and is open to the public regardless of taste and social class. This is further emphasised
through the cultural and religious practices of the Muslims in the mosque, referring to each other as
brothers and sisters , indicating zero arrogance or ignorance though social status. This is due to the
primary belief which binds each agent, which is, in this case, the followers of Islam, who despite taste
and social class, share one invaluable thing in common... religion.
However, despite Brick Lane Mosque being a place of worship for the followers of Islam and serving
as a place where Muslims can come together and perform acts of devotion,

Factors Of Juvenile Delinquency
SRP Final Draft
Have you ever been a charged with Juvenile crime behavior? Juvenile Delinquency is cause by a
correlation of factors including environment, parenting, social economic level, and alcohol and drug
abuse. Juvenile delinquency is also caused by the way the child is getting treated at home, or the
separation of both parent and, family conflict etc. When a parent abuse or lose communication with
the child can also cause delinquency. Crime is one thing kids younger than 18 years of age get charged
with. Most of the young teens that are in a detention center are younger than 18. Juvenile delinquency
is committed by young children, the delinquency of a minor is increasing day by day.
We cannot always place the blame on parents. But the structure within the family household could
determine the extent of delinquency manifested by a juvenile. Family relationships, duties,
responsibilities and privileges, and the amount of control exercised over children all play roles in
forming character and influencing behavior. The attitudes and actions of parents can create an
important influence in the lives of the children . Wickliffe Joseph. Teachers Institute .
teachersinstitute.yale.edu/curriculum/units/2000/2/00.02.07.x.html Mistreatment of the child is one
reason why younger kids are charged with juvenile delinquency. When kids are in risk of being
mistreated then they are highly in risk of being a delinquency of a minor. If a child feel like they are
being mistreated it can lead to a child getting into lots of trouble because they feel like nobody cares
about them so you have to show love affection to that child so they want feel like you don t care about
them. A child parents in strong figure in their life, if the parent is supposed to tech the child the right
behavior to respect other. If a child feels like they are being mistreated then in can lead them to
becoming a juvenile delinquency. When parents are going through something they shouldn t take it out
on their child or make the child feel like he/she have to stop their life because of a family conflict.
Sometimes when post parents are going through something they show how they feel right in front or
the child so it make the wonders, like am

German Prehistory Sparknotes
Many of the ideas that served as a basis for the Nazi party s interpretation of the archaeological record
can be attributed to the work done by a German pre historian named Gustaf Kossinna. Kossinna
played a major role in the development of German prehistory. Following their defeat in 1918 at the
end of World War I and the signing of the Treaty of Versailles, the feeling of national pride had fled
from many of the individuals in Germany. Kossinna, sought to reignite the feeling of German pride
under the grounds that Germany was part of a superior Arian race. In emphasis of this belief, he
dedicated his book German Prehistory: a Pre eminently National Discipline; To the German people, as
a building block in the reconstruction of the externally as well as internally disintegrated fatherland
(cited by Arnold 1992: 32). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One aspect that made his book so appealing is the fact that he claims German responsibility for almost
all major technologic breakthroughs in western history. (Figure 1) He based much of his research
finding on the interpretation of prehistoric symbols that were found on pottery and painted on cave
walls. Interpreted as being an early form of writing, many of these symbols would later be
incorporated into the Nazi party. Further, his theory on Arian expansion in which he mapped the
spread of cultural and technological ideas out of Germany would lead to numerous excavations in

Ellicott City Flood Case Study
In the Washington DC area, it is not at all uncommon to see flash flood warnings scroll across the
television screen, but nothing comes of it other than some rain. This past weekend, however, during
Memorial Day weekend, Ellicott City, Maryland, which sits just outside of the beltway, experienced a
horrible flash flood. The death toll still has yet to be announced, as cleanup and the search for
survivors has just begun. Two waves of intense flooding hit the town unexpectedly, and with little
warning. The town is a quaint little area with cute shops and storefronts, which sits in a valley, and the
main street cuts a swath between two higher vistas. Several storms had been forecast earlier that day,
and heavy rain was expected, but no one could have predicted such devastation, in such a short
amount of time. This is the second massive flash flood to hit this area in as many years, leaving
business owners, and residents alike, stunned and heartbroken. ... Show more content on

Who s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf Analysis
Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf by Edward Albee is a play that addresses a variety of failures through
it s rather dysfunctional characters. Albee indicates the failures within American Society; The 1962
Cuban Missile Crisis and the tensions between the East and the West. The political reflections by
Albee are made through the characters of George and Nick, with George seemingly representing
George Washington the first American president and Nick representing Nikita Khrushchev of the
Soviet Union, as Roudané notes this conflict was a terrible warning about the very precariousness of
existence . It is a sense of warning which Albee explores through the presentation of his characters
within the play and we too are made aware of the fragility of American Society.
The most prominent failure within the play, however, could be argued to be the failure of gender
stereotypes. Martha s opening line What a dump taken from the Bette Davis film Beyond the Forest .
Acts as a summary of the entire play, her life is a metaphorical dump. The state of her house
represents the failure of the nation and is presented as chaotic by Albee within the play. From the
outset Martha does not fit with society s image of a woman, as Bottoms notes, Martha is a vindictive
caricature of womanhood ,she enters the play with the word Jesus . Opening the play with profanity,
something not appropriate for the ideal American housewife to say, establishes her as the plays pagan.

The Rhetorical Analysis Of President Dwight D. Eisenhower
During his two terms in office, President Dwight D. Eisenhower worked perpetually to resolve Cold
War era tensions and preserve world peace. Bringing to the presidency his stature as supreme
commander of the military forces during World War II, Eisenhower mediated policies concentrated on
enhancing liberty, dignity, and integrity among people and nations. In his farewell address, delivered
on January 17, 1961, the president urges the American people to cooperate in the interests of mutual
respect and love. Using a combination of rhetorical strategies, he inspires them to be diligent in
pursuit of world peace and maintain balance in and among national programs. Eisenhower uses
patriotic diction to convey his overarching message of fostering progress towards the national goal of
peace. He encourages Americans to avoid becoming a community of fear and hate, and to instead, be a
proud confederation of mutual trust and respect, instead (176 177). Eisenhower appeals to the people s
love of America, persuading them to protect the country s political and spiritual heritage. He
acknowledges America has been involved in three major wars among nations. Despite this, it is the
strongest, the most influential and most productive nation in the world (33 35). Using patriotism,
Eisenhower prompts the American people to act in order to maintain respect and dignity for their
country. He asserts, To strive for less would be unworthy of a free and religious people (45). By

Organic sales growth, that is excluding the effect of acquisitions, divestitures and foreign exchange
impact, demonstrate the company s resilience over a difficult economic climate. As Table I
demonstrates, the company has shown organic sales growth for the past four fiscal periods, though it
is important to point out that price increases have accounted for the majority of organic sales growth,
and that organic sales are growing at a decreasing rate. FY11 marked the first period since 2009 in
which volume growth was actually positive. However HNZ is not the only company that has seen
volume slide; it has been a key characteristic of the packaged food industry to sacrifice volume in
order to maintain margins. Emerging markets were an important driver of the organic sales growth
shown in FY11 with combined price and volume growth of 14.4% compared to the prior fiscal year.
TABLE I: Organic Sales Growth The company is well positioned to continue to grow sales as its 15
top brands showed organic sales growth of 3.8% compared to FY10. Additionally, during 2011 HNZ
completed the acquisition of an 80% stake of Coniexpress, a Brazilian manufacturer of tomato based

The Fairytales We Know Today Came About In Our World
The Romanticism Era
How did the fairytales we know today came about in our world? Years ago, the Era of Romanticism
was started by men and women who let their imagination take them away from a world where religion
and politics dominated. Nature became the root of their ideas and literature was glorified like a
religion. The human spirit was examined in their eyes and they formed stories that intrigued the
people in that time period. The origin of the literary movement, the lifestyle, and the literary art of the
Romantic Era still affect us in some way or another.
The romantic literary movement is a time period from the late 1700 s to the mid 1800 s. Romanticism
took place as an effect to the frustration people felt with the ideas after the French Revolution of 1789.
The literary movement is focused on passion rather than a reason, and imagination overruled logic.
Romanticism was built on the expression of the emotions such as love, jealousy, compassion, etc.
Romantics yearn for the infinite and viewed nature as a free spirit that had no restraint or order. Which

Romantics were tired of rules imposed by society and suppressed ideas that limited their freedom.
They let their thoughts roam freely and decided that the only thing pure and real in the world was
nature. Nature became the foundation of all the new works of art . Throughout this time period poetry
was also changed and a new style emerged, a style in which everyday language was used but remained
fundamentally poetic. All of these changes ultimately brought society a new way of seeing folktales
and the magical world. In conclusion, the Romantic Era brought people to question the conventions
put before them and develop ideas of liberty. Ideas that tied to being alone with nature and letting the
imagination flow with new perspectives of

Relevant Revenues and Costs
CHAPTER 2:
RELEVANT REVENUES AND COSTS
The primary goal of a firm is to maximize profits. This implies, of course, that each decision a
manager makes is consistent with that goal. Although managers are expected to rely on internally
produced reports, such as balance sheets and income statements, to help them make decisions, most of
the information that appears on these statements is period based rather than decision based. A balance
sheet shows the sum total of a firm s assets and liabilities at a given point in time. If the firm sold off
all of its assets at book value and used the proceeds to pay its liabilities, what remains is owner s
equity: the amount that is owed to shareholders. An income statement is the difference ... Show more

If the decision is implemented, revenues will rise from $3,000 to $3,200, or by $200. The $200
increase in revenue is the relevant revenue. Note that the relevant revenue is not simply the revenues
generated by the additional 100 boxes. If that were true, revenues would rise by $8 x 100 boxes, or
$800. Instead, the relevant revenues incorporate the fact that the 300 boxes that could have been sold
for $10 will also be sold for $8. In other words, to sell the additional 100 boxes for $800, the group
sacrificed $600 on the first 300 boxes. Hence, the decision caused the group s revenue to rise by $800
$600, or $200.
The relevant cost in this example is the change in the group s cost if the decision to lower the price is
implemented. Because each box costs the group $3, if it lowers the price to $8, it will sell 100
additional boxes at a cost of $3, causing costs to rise by $300.
If we compare the relevant revenues with the relevant costs, we can see that the group should not
lower its price. If it does, its revenues will rise by $200 whereas its cost will increase by $300. It will
be $100 worse off by lowering its price.
This can also be seen by examining total revenues and costs. At a price of $10, the group s revenue is
$10 x 300, or $3,000 and its costs are $3 x 300, or $900, leaving a profit of $2,100. If it charges $8, its
revenues will be $3,200 ($8 x 400) and its costs will be equal to $1,200 ($3 x 400), for a

Reflection Paper On Therapy
Self Assessment: Therapist For my MFT 507class, I was in a group with Elizabeth and Jaime. We did
a vignette to practice what we have learned in class and imply it in the therapy session. We switched
roles and always treated each other with kindness and respect. I will refer Jaime as Debby, so there
will not be any confusion.
Impressions
I learned many things with the vignette we did in class. Active listening is important be cause it helped
Debby see that I was listening and just focusing on her. Also, it gave me the op portunity to clarify any
misunderstanding. The assessment helped me to think critically and find out the reason why Debby
came to therapy. When I was watching the video, I was impressed how easily Debby and I build a
bond. I had the same name as her daughter and that made her feel comfortable. My strength regarding
this vignette was how calmly I talked to Debby. I am able to use verbal and nonverbal behavior. For
example, I used ummm to agree with Debbie, so she can see that I am on the same track as her. This
experience makes me see this is the career I want to pursuit. The role playing as a therapist and having
a senior citizen client open my mind and see that each person are different that have different

no one like her. This question was unanswered because there was not actual evidence of what she told

A Business Is Fundamentally A Function Of Decision Making...
Introduction Operating a business is fundamentally a function of decision making; not only must an
organization decide what industry or industries it will operate in, but also what products or services to
offer customers; what customers the organization will service; how those goods/services are produced
and marketed; how profits will be utilized and invested and ultimately, how an organization will create
sustainable competitive advantage within their industry or industries. Essentially, organizations are
faced with a number of problems they must then set out to solve. However, despite the resources
available to aid in the decision making process or the reasoning behind any particular choice, not all
decisions prove beneficial. It is a sad fact that in business, some decisions do not prove to be the
profitable endeavors they appear to be. By the same token, there are some cases in which senior
leadership make poor decisions despite what their resources are telling them. One example of this type
of situation can be seen in the failed DaimlerChrysler automobile manufacturing company. This paper
sets out to analyze the merger between Daimler Benz and Chrysler in 1998, and determine where
senior leaders went wrong in the decision making process.
The Daimler Chrysler Merger By the mid 1990s, Daimler Benz, a German based auto manufacturer,
had established itself as the second largest manufacturer of luxury vehicles in the world market (Main,

Let The Punishment Fit The Crime
I grew up in a very strict, religious household and though I was never baptized in the religion
I was a practicing Jehovah s Witness till about the age of 25. I do still occasionally go to their

of those fundamentals. Jehovah s Witness s believe that when you die that your body and soul returns
to the earth. In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it
you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return (New World Translation, Gen. 3.19).
Whatever your hand finds to do, do with all your might, for there is no work nor planning nor
knowledge nor wisdom in the grave, where you are going (New World Translation, Ec. 9.10). The
Witness s teach death is the punishment for sin, not hell. So I found this topic of Hell, it s sinners and
their punishments for our Critical Response paper what peaked my interest the most. Dante s Inferno
The Divine Comedy although it is divine by literary standards there is nothing comedic about it.

Andreas Vesalius Research Paper
Andreas Vesalius was a Renaissance Physician who revolutionized the way we look at anatomy. He
transformed the study of biology and the practice of medicine by reevaluating the human body. Past
physicians had given believable but incorrect knowledge about the human anatomy. His work was
seen as being against the church which proposed a big challenge for Vesalius due to the fact that at this
time the church had a lot of power. He was called a Renaissance Physician because he was a physician
during the time of the rebirth or the enlighten age which was a period in time in which society and
scholars thought that we should begin to fix the way we live. It was a time of advancement in every

This is great for bird watchers because you can watch them as they eat, and if you want to attract a

Research traces the increase in damage done to the marine ecosystem back from 150 to 300 years ago
and it has only increased since then. The growth in population can also cause effects in the loss or
harm of wild species. In the early 1900 s most mammals, birds, salmon, tuna, sharks and reptiles were
depleted, and continued to decline by 1950 as the demand grew for different resources. The
International Union for Conservation has a record of ocean animals that are on the Red List . This list
has 620 species of marine animals listed on it and these animals are in danger of becoming extinct.
This should show the human population that we need to work harder to put in a greater effort in
protecting our oceans against pollution and overfishing. Strategies and techniques for marine
ecosystem conservation would be setting up protected areas, as with marine protected areas (MPAs) or
Voluntary Marine Conservation Areas. Other techniques include developing sustainable fisheries and
restoring the populations of endangered species through artificial means. Another focus of
conservationists is on curtailing human activities that are detrimental to either marine ecosystems or
species through policy, techniques such as fishing quotas, like those set up by the Northwest Atlantic
Fisheries Organization, or laws such as those listed below. Recognizing the economics involved in

Buddhism, Hinduism, And Islam
Sikhism traditions are heavily influenced by the two religions that inspired the movement, Hinduism,
and Islam. Due to these different cultural and religious influences, the traditions and practices tend to
be monotheistic due to the influence of Islam, while many of the practices when it comes to
worshiping and lifestyle are influenced by Hinduism. Scripture for most religions is extremely
important, and that is no exception for the Sikhs. For Sikhs, the primary scripture that they use is
called the Adi Granth, which hold the hymns of the first five Gurus, the ninth Guru, material from the
four bards, eleven Bharts and fifteen Bhagats of the Sant, Sufi and Bhakti traditions. The second
category of most sacred scripture is the Dasam Granth which was written by the tenth Guru, though it
was revised later and added some more of his works and fixed the sequence of the contents. The third
category of sacred scriptures consists of the works by the Bhai Guards and the Bhai Nand Lal Goya,
the officially approved songs in the gurdwara. The last category of scriptures is broken into three parts
janam sakhis (birth narratives), rahit namas (manuals of the code of conduct) and gur bilas (splendor

European countries such as France, Germany or Italy they have problems with driving their car to the

suitable to argue of which side of the road should driver to drive on theirs cars. This model is best
defined as an action is right if it is in harmony with a moral rule or the code of principle. Let s take the
rule or an example, every driver of England will drive on the right hand side of the road in the city of

Another easily pictured experience is shared by Sanderson. During his childhood, at the age when I

I personally don t like to eat out much. I only go out and eat when there are any special occasions. The
last time I went out eating was with my boyfriend on our first anniversary. We went to The
Cheesecake Factory which is also on of my favorite places to dine in.
The Cheesecake Factory is very familiar with everyone now. This place is famous for their
cheesecakes as well as the diversity of food to choose from. The Cheesecake Factory was established
in the 1940s by Oscar and Evelyn Overton. Mrs. Overton personally made baked cheesecakes in the
basement of their home for the best local restaurants. In 1972 they moved their business to Los
Angeles, California where they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think anyone can do that, no need to depend on any person. So in case if it was really busy, a single
person cannot prepare cheesecake for all the customers in the same time, others can help. Besides, I
believe ethics are a collection of principles and practices that a business believes in and aims to live
by. The Cheesecake Factory s mission statement and more specific policies about conduct to give
employees, partners, vendors, and outsiders an idea of what the corporation stands for and how it s
staff should conduct themselves. Key areas that are of significant importance to The Cheesecake
Factory start with the general standards of conduct in how all its employees will be treated by fellow
employees and by management. The standards deals the basic values that we all have, with the
expectation of building trust, loyalty, honesty, respect, and a high level of professionalism within the
company. This will create a positive working environment that will uplift the attitudes and morale of
its employees and depending on what your position is could increase productivity and customer
relations. All jobs have a certain amount stress related to it, but having those basic codes of the takes
away a lot the negative personal stress that can arrive on the job.
In conclusion, I still consider The Cheesecake Factory is my favorite place to eat. Even though I had a
bad experience there once, I think that they can improve it better.

Customers enjoy many of the delicious appetizer selections: homemade onion rings, chips homemade
queso, Texas cheese fries, chicken tenders and honey butter croissants rolls that just melt in your
mouth. There are also salad selections for customers who want a healthier option as an appetizer. A
dinner favorite for most customers is the New Orleans pasta which, consists of: shrimp, chicken,
smoked sausage, peppers, onions and penne pasta tossed in Cajun Alfredo sauce, served with toasted
garlic bread. This dish is really spicy and requires a nice drink to quench your thirst. Additionally,
there are many drink options available to customers. You have a choice of several soft drink options,
iced tea, water and fruit infused lemonades and teas which all come with free refills. Your server will
provide drinks before taking your order. Cheddars also serves hand crafted margaritas, specialty
cocktails, wine and domestic/imported beer. With so many choices you may choose the type of drink
you want to go with your meal. Additionally, there are 3 dessert choices to choose from, which are

Women s Roles In Medieval Japan
1. The geography of Medieval Japan consisted of gardens for tea. The civilians would create burial
grounds for deaths of their leaders. This was similar to the pyramids of Egypt. As for something not
man made is the very mountainous land. There were plenty of rivers as well. These separated the
people apart from each other and kept things more secluded. The seclusion kept people apart so there
were different ideas which at times would cause the government some trouble whilst trying to keep
things under control. The climate in Japan was not very hot or very cold it would snow and there
would be a lot of heat but not all year around, it d change with the seasons. Most of the land also wasn
t fertile for agriculture but they still managed with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were many religions/philosophy during Medieval Japan. There were eight religions that affected
Ancient Japan and their development. Christianity, Buddhism, Shintoism, are three of the eight that
has shaped Japan s history and as well as examples of religions that we have researched. Christianity
didn t really affect Japan up until the medieval era ended and wasn t brought over until European
peoples traveled to Japan. That leaves Buddhism and Shintoism. Shintoism is known as their first and
official religion. No one really knows where the origin of Shinto came from but it impacted the
development of historical Japan. A tradition that involves the Shinto shrine is after the birth of a baby,
it is named after three days, then after about a month old, and the baby is brought to the Shinto shrine
to officially become the member of the community. Shinto was also known as the way of the gods and
those who worshipped Shintoism seldom asked about existing with the nature or who the world was
formed. In Shinto, there was something known as kami, or god(s); though in some cases kami can also
be translated into appearance where it can be human, nature, or an unmovable object. The men and
women were devoted to the kami. The kami is believed to have formed the earth and has a relationship
with nature. Worshipping Shintoism was rather simple and a family affair; meaning that you were to
worship with your family at the right place (which is usually in shrines) and time, together.

  • 2. Vygotsky s Theory Of Cognitive Development Learning Journal Entry 5 Theories of Cognitive Development (Vygotsky) Unlike Piaget, Vygotsky alleged that adults play a fundamental role in the development of children as they nurtured their learning in a premeditated way (McDevitt et al, 2013), rather than entrusting it to natural processes. Vygotsky also believed that language played a primary responsibility in a child s development, while Piaget excluded this from his theory (McDevitt et al, 2013). The social experiences a child encounter along with conversations they have with others and themselves (self talk), greatly influences their capacity to grow and learn. One of the benefits of Vygotsky s theory of cognitive development is the Zone of Proximal development. Where children are frequently being pressed to the limit of their comfort zones within learning in order of forward progression (McDevitt et al, 2013). In Vygotsky s theory, he developed nine key ideas. These ideas include: Key Principles General Description 1. Some cognitive processes are seen in a variety of species; others are unique to human beings (McDevitt et al, 2013, p.220). Vygotsky held belief that there is two different mental functions that species exhibit (lower and higher) (McDevitt et al, 2013). He explained that many species demonstrate lower mental functions (determining which foods to eat), unlike human beings which are unique in their use of higher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Artist Of Brownstones By Jacob Lawrence Topic 1: Brownstones is a bit of abstract art depicting a group of what appear to be African Americans going about their lives on a busy street. This is a clear piece of the architecture that led to the swelling civil rights movement of the 50s. During the 1920s and 1930s, as a result of the combined forces of the Great Migration, the Depression, the Jazz Era, and the Harlem Renaissance, Harlem was transformed into a community with a unique identity. A sanctuary for African American art, this new cultural oasis enjoyed a sense of optimism in spite of economic difficulties. Like many writers and artists of his time, Jacob Lawrence, the artist of Brownstones, was inspired by the dynamic vitality of the Harlem community. One of the more interesting aspects of this is the communal response that was brought about by the Renaissance . Initially during the civil rights movement it was students who marched at the forefront, those with nothing to lose and everything to gain. However, over time the movement blossomed fully, and those from all walks of life stepped up to defend liberty. In the wake of the assassination of Martin Luther King, we as a nation(most of us anyway) stood as one against oppression and hatred. We fought the good fight, without weapons or blows, but with dollars, steps and words. It wasn t a war though. You don t win wars by dying for your country, you win by making the other guy die for his. This was a rebellion, two sides claimed they held the same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Having the flood at this period of time was a good thing. It put many Rhode Islanders back to work. However, many small business are closing down in RI, causing many people to lose their jobs. This is due to the high taxes, fees and regulations that small businesses face if they want to operate in Rhode Island. All these factors in Rhode Island have impacted the high unemployment rate thus leading to the high state of poverty. Another factor that will lead one into poverty is the inability to afford health insurance. A journalist from the Providence Journal, Dujardin, mentioned that Rhode Island has an average of 18,000 children 17 years of age and younger who were without health coverage between 2007 and 2009, up from the 16,000 average recorded three years earlier (Richard C. Dujardin 1). It is not required by law that people should purchase their own health insurance in RI. Not purchasing health insurance can cause a very serious situation. For example, if one were to be in a car accident or become ill, not having the medical insurance, they will have to pay large amount of money out of their own pockets. Lastly, one of the biggest causes of poverty is lack of education. In the United States, everyone is entitled to a free and appropriated public education. They also influenced the Tithe commutation act 1836 and the Great Reform Act 1832. I Ching And Confucianism The I Ching, the Book of Change, the foundation of all Chinese religion and science, is an ancient Chinese divination text that provides influential text in religion, literature, and art. It provided guidance for moral decision making, based on Taoism and Confucianism. The I Ching can be read as a microcosm of the universe, explaining how to keep human behavior in unity with the alternating series of nature. Chinese tradition was divided into Confucianism, the exoteric, and Taoism, the esoteric, but both see the world and God as a whole, the cosmos. Although different, both religions allowed their followers to find God in all things, Confucianism through the natural order, and Taoism through the Tao. Both of these religions encouraged knowledge beyond the physical world and beyond that which can be known with the senses. Confucianism puts emphasis on relationships and social harmony, keeping the core humanistic, more focused on problems of ethics and society. It revolves around the pursuit of unity of the self and the Principle of Heaven, the cosmos, which overrule human efforts. Confucianism is often called rujiao, meaning the teaching of the ru, which is one who is conversant with the Heaven, Earth, and humans, the three domains of human knowledge. An example of a systemic testimonial injustice would be the accent of a speaker, causing the speaker to receive a credibility deficit. An example of a credibility deficit would be a professor at a university receiving less credibility and respect of his knowledge due to his accent. His accent could lead the students to believe he isn t capable to be someone who holds much knowledge. The students doing so wrongs the professor, and he is receiving testimonial injustice. This type of testimonial injustice is systemic and not justified as the professor is assumed to have this job because he is properly qualified for the position. This example is systemic because it contains a connection with a common prejudice that occurs often in society. People with accents often face prejudice and receive a credibility deficit as a result. According to Fricker, testimonial injustices occur when identity power is in play. Identity power is whenever there is an operation of power with shared concepts of social identities. An example Fricker uses of active identity power is a man silencing a woman with a joke about her in The Talented Mr. Ripley. There are two types of operations of power discussed by Fricker. An example of passive identity power is a woman being silenced simply because she is a woman and feeling like she shouldn t speak out. • 25. Ellicott City Flood Case Study In the Washington DC area, it is not at all uncommon to see flash flood warnings scroll across the television screen, but nothing comes of it other than some rain. This past weekend, however, during Memorial Day weekend, Ellicott City, Maryland, which sits just outside of the beltway, experienced a horrible flash flood. The death toll still has yet to be announced, as cleanup and the search for survivors has just begun. Two waves of intense flooding hit the town unexpectedly, and with little warning. The town is a quaint little area with cute shops and storefronts, which sits in a valley, and the main street cuts a swath between two higher vistas. Several storms had been forecast earlier that day, and heavy rain was expected, but no one could have predicted such devastation, in such a short amount of time. This is the second massive flash flood to hit this area in as many years, leaving business owners, and residents alike, stunned and heartbroken. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 26. Who s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf Analysis Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf by Edward Albee is a play that addresses a variety of failures through it s rather dysfunctional characters. Albee indicates the failures within American Society; The 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis and the tensions between the East and the West. The political reflections by Albee are made through the characters of George and Nick, with George seemingly representing George Washington the first American president and Nick representing Nikita Khrushchev of the Soviet Union, as Roudané notes this conflict was a terrible warning about the very precariousness of existence . It is a sense of warning which Albee explores through the presentation of his characters within the play and we too are made aware of the fragility of American Society. The most prominent failure within the play, however, could be argued to be the failure of gender stereotypes. Martha s opening line What a dump taken from the Bette Davis film Beyond the Forest . Acts as a summary of the entire play, her life is a metaphorical dump. The state of her house represents the failure of the nation and is presented as chaotic by Albee within the play. From the outset Martha does not fit with society s image of a woman, as Bottoms notes, Martha is a vindictive caricature of womanhood ,she enters the play with the word Jesus . Opening the play with profanity, something not appropriate for the ideal American housewife to say, establishes her as the plays pagan. Throughout the play ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Years ago, the Era of Romanticism was started by men and women who let their imagination take them away from a world where religion and politics dominated. Nature became the root of their ideas and literature was glorified like a religion. The human spirit was examined in their eyes and they formed stories that intrigued the people in that time period. The origin of the literary movement, the lifestyle, and the literary art of the Romantic Era still affect us in some way or another. The romantic literary movement is a time period from the late 1700 s to the mid 1800 s. Romanticism took place as an effect to the frustration people felt with the ideas after the French Revolution of 1789. The literary movement is focused on passion rather than a reason, and imagination overruled logic. Romanticism was built on the expression of the emotions such as love, jealousy, compassion, etc. Romantics yearn for the infinite and viewed nature as a free spirit that had no restraint or order. • 30. Relevant Revenues and Costs CHAPTER 2: RELEVANT REVENUES AND COSTS The primary goal of a firm is to maximize profits. This implies, of course, that each decision a manager makes is consistent with that goal. Although managers are expected to rely on internally produced reports, such as balance sheets and income statements, to help them make decisions, most of the information that appears on these statements is period based rather than decision based. A balance sheet shows the sum total of a firm s assets and liabilities at a given point in time. If the firm sold off all of its assets at book value and used the proceeds to pay its liabilities, what remains is owner s equity: the amount that is owed to shareholders. An income statement is the difference ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the decision is implemented, revenues will rise from $3,000 to $3,200, or by $200. The $200 increase in revenue is the relevant revenue. Note that the relevant revenue is not simply the revenues generated by the additional 100 boxes. If that were true, revenues would rise by $8 x 100 boxes, or $800. Instead, the relevant revenues incorporate the fact that the 300 boxes that could have been sold for $10 will also be sold for $8. In other words, to sell the additional 100 boxes for $800, the group sacrificed $600 on the first 300 boxes. Hence, the decision caused the group s revenue to rise by $800 $600, or $200. The relevant cost in this example is the change in the group s cost if the decision to lower the price is implemented. Because each box costs the group $3, if it lowers the price to $8, it will sell 100 additional boxes at a cost of $3, causing costs to rise by $300. If we compare the relevant revenues with the relevant costs, we can see that the group should not lower its price. If it does, its revenues will rise by $200 whereas its cost will increase by $300. It will be $100 worse off by lowering its price. This can also be seen by examining total revenues and costs. At a price of $10, the group s revenue is $10 x 300, or $3,000 and its costs are $3 x 300, or $900, leaving a profit of $2,100. If it charges $8, its revenues will be $3,200 ($8 x 400) and its costs will be equal to $1,200 ($3 x 400), for a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction Operating a business is fundamentally a function of decision making; not only must an organization decide what industry or industries it will operate in, but also what products or services to offer customers; what customers the organization will service; how those goods/services are produced and marketed; how profits will be utilized and invested and ultimately, how an organization will create sustainable competitive advantage within their industry or industries. Essentially, organizations are faced with a number of problems they must then set out to solve. However, despite the resources available to aid in the decision making process or the reasoning behind any particular choice, not all decisions prove beneficial. It is a sad fact that in business, some decisions do not prove to be the profitable endeavors they appear to be. By the same token, there are some cases in which senior leadership make poor decisions despite what their resources are telling them. One example of this type of situation can be seen in the failed DaimlerChrysler automobile manufacturing company. This paper sets out to analyze the merger between Daimler Benz and Chrysler in 1998, and determine where senior leaders went wrong in the decision making process. The Daimler Chrysler Merger By the mid 1990s, Daimler Benz, a German based auto manufacturer, had established itself as the second largest manufacturer of luxury vehicles in the world market (Main, 2010). Due to these different cultural and religious influences, the traditions and practices tend to be monotheistic due to the influence of Islam, while many of the practices when it comes to worshiping and lifestyle are influenced by Hinduism. Scripture for most religions is extremely important, and that is no exception for the Sikhs.
