people began to feel less constrained by their nationality and became what is often referred to as
"citizens of the world," free to move and settle, at least theoretically, wherever they wish.
This leads to wonder whether this dematerialization of nations has done away with nationalist and
patriotic sentiments for these citizens of the world, or if it leads them to return on their own core
identities. In fact, it seems that the two phenomena are simultaneously present within these
globalized societies.
Globalization has led many nations to open their borders and host populations from all over the
world. Evidently, these nations are the ones that have developed through this primarily economic
globalization, primarily in what is considered to be the Western world, but also in Asia and the
Middle East. These nations opened their borders to people coming mainly from the "Eastern world,"
including those from South Asia, who had not yet experienced the development caused by
globalization, and who sought new opportunities. These new populations, with new citizenships, are
based on the principle

Nationalism Causes Of Nationalism
1. Nationalism fuels William's actions to seek self–determination for Scotland; as a result of
nationalism, William actively seeks freedom. Out of his sense of duty and sacrifice for the nation,
although it began as a personal matter of the English killing his wife, he leads an initially successful
peasant revolt against the English men, in order to be free from their clutches. For instance, before
the Battle of Stalingrad, William inspires the peasants through a persuasive speech of how the
English can take their lives, but not their freedom. Alongside this, the remainder of his speech

However, he is betrayed by the nobles who are easily bribed with land and titles, causing them to
lose their battle at Falkirk against the English, and once again when he is tricked and captured for

their love for Scotland and national pride, the peasants stand against the English beside William
Wallace. The rebellion stems from the patriotism felt by Scottish towards their nation. Furthermore,
we see the idea of nation as a collective, since the Scottish rebellions unite as a collective in their
common goal to gain self–determination for Scotland. As well, ethnic nationalism is depicted
through how the Scottish form an ethnic nation due their common culture and religion, which acts as
a cause for their desire to be independent. The common language and culture shown act as

Although my article doesn't include sensationalized news of evidence of life found on Mars, or new
developments in the lives of the Kardashian family, it marks progress in international cooperation, a
topic that is significant to me. It seems as if a lot of people don't realize that America is not a nation
alone in the world and that we don't make up the beliefs and developmental status of the entire
globe. Some people act as though there is no interdependence between countries, which in my
opinion is not only ridiculous, but dangerous. The world needs to function as a single unit to
strengthen international organizations and support the humanitarian efforts of civil society.
