Don McCullin chose war photography because it made him feel he had a purpose (BBC Imagine
2013 McCullin). Purpose that was to portray the horrific humanity and the ugly truths of wars to the
rest of the world and create awareness about the sufferings of people associated with these wars.

Langendonck discusses a photograph that was initially misinterpreted by the photographer, and the

When it comes to artist's muses there is a fine line between inspiration and plagiarism. If one tries to
define the areas where art starts plagiarizing a body of work, they will most likely end up fighting in

To Publish or Not to Publish? "If the newspapers of a country are filled with good news, the jails of
that country will be filled with good people" (What). This journalist quote, by Daniel Moynihan,
means that there are going to be times when news stories are devastating, gruesome, and tragic.
News stories resembling that are inevitable and can leave a city, county, state, country, or even the
world in shock. When the media, such as newspapers, radio, and television, reports these types of
stories, however, the public seems to think they go overkill, at times, on the images or videos they
show to them. At the same time, the media is trying to show the public what exactly is happening
and wants them to understand what the victims are facing. This creates a fine line that the media
wants to get as close to it as possible without crossing it and causing outrage and anger from the
people. Did the media go too far in publishing disturbing images or videos in a devastating story or
did the people overreact? In 1980, US Servicemen in Iran were killed in action during a rescue

and provides evidence for historical moments. Moments shown in Tank Man and Tereska Draws
Her Home both portray two individuals who symbolize people who have suffered from the acts of
the government and or the military. The two photographers, Jeff Widener of Tank Man and David
Seymour of Tereska Draws Her Home, take different approaches documenting moments in history,
from the Tiananmen Square Incident of 1989 in Tank Man to the Holocaust in Tereska Draws Her
Home. Their execution in capturing these moments greatly affects the object/subject relationship
and reveals their position as both outsiders, in reference to Abigail Solomon–Godeau's Inside/Out.
In addition, Widener and Seymour use their cameras as passports, exploring a part of someone's or a
country's moment that happens to be in a vulnerable state (Solomon–Godeau). Widener uses his

The aim of this investigation is to determine to what extent the US military manipulated the media
during the First Gulf War. Therefore my research question is to what extent was media coverage of
the First Gulf War manipulated by the United States government. In order to obtain an appropriate
analysis of this topic several different sources will be consulted throughout this investigation. Those
include, archived books, news reports, interviews, photos and websites. I will now analyse 2 of the
sources that I will use in the investigation "For example the U.S Government exhibited great skill in
shaping media coverage during the Gulf War. It used several means to do so. Reporters were
restricted to the pool system meaning the government choose which reporters and news
organizations had access to battlefield coverage. The government escorted the media to sites of the

Johnson. President Johnson was granted the power to be able to use military forces to advance and
engage the enemy forces because of the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution. The United States Government
believe that the war with Vietnam will end very soon and the communists would be defeated. As the
battles with the American forces against with the North Vietnamese and Vietcong, the United States
experienced a turn of events of the war when the American public has foreseen that the war in
Vietnam. In the beginnings of 1968, the Vietcong and the North Vietnamese coordinated an attack
on major cities and towns throughout Southern Vietnam. The event was called the Tet Offensive.
The Tet Offensive has resulted in major causalities for the North Vietnamese and Viet Cong with
having thousands of their soldiers killed. However, the reports of the Tet Offensive were widely
publicized has caught the attention throughout the American public. Photographer Eddie Adams
took a picture of Nguyen Loan, the chief of police in Saigon, took his sidearm and shot and killed a
suspected Vietcong soldier in the head. This image has been an iconic remembrance of the brutality

In the Copyright law of India , "Indian Work" means a literary, dramatic or musical work by an
author who is a citizen of India , or which was first published in India ,or in case of an unpublished
work , an author who at the time of creation , was a citizen of India. The total term of protection for
literary work is the author's life plus sixty years. For cinematographic films, records, photographs,
posthumous publications, anonymous publication, works of government and international agencies
the term is 60 years
