Future Indefinite is a form of
the verb that refers to an action or
event that has not yet begun. It is used
to make a prediction or to show
ability, intention, or determination.
5. STRUCTURE
Subject+will/shall+V1(First form of verb)+ Object
Examples:-
• He will study Math.
• She will come back.
We can also use “shall”
instead of “will”.
• I shall go
• You shall go
6. CONTRACTED FORMS
You will read. You’ll read.
I shall read. I shall read.
(There is NO contracted form for shall.)
You will not read. You won’t read.
I shall not read. I shan’t read.

RULE:-
If we use a time expression at the beginning of a clause, then
we do NOT use the future simple.
We must only use the present simple.
11. FUTURE CONTINUOUS TENSE
Future continuous tense expresses an activity
that will be taking place at a particular time
in future.

Examples :
• I shall be reading a book.
• They will be playing football.

13. NEGATIVE SENTENCES
Subject + will be/shall be+ not + verb-ing
Examples:-
• You will not be eating.
• They will not be dancing.
15. IT IS USED
For specific time as an interruption In the
future:-
We will be having breakfast tomorrow
morning at 9 o’clock.
To ask questions politely about future:-
Will you be leaving America tonight?
While expressing intentions for future:-
I will be helping my mother during the
weekend.
16. FUTURE PERFECT TENSE
Future perfect tense is used to express
an action, which the speaker assumes
will have completed or occurred in the
future. It gives a sense of completion of
a task that will happen in the future.

Subject+will have/shall have+3rd form of verb+object
Use of will / shall
Traditionally shall is used for 1st person and will
is used for 2nd and 3rd person.
Examples:
• They will have enjoyed party.
• I shall have played cricket.
18. The future tense is used:
With the following time expressions:
Before, till, until, by the time, by,then etc.
NOTE!
Till/Until are mostly used in the negative
sentences.
She will have finished the report by
tomorrow.
She won’t have completed the report
till/until 6 o’ clock.

Certainty about the near past.
They will have arrived at the hotel by now.
22. FUTURE PERFECT CONTINUOUS
• It is a verb tense that describes
actions that will continue up until a
point in the future.
• The future perfect continuous also
sometimes called the future perfect
progressive.
23. TIME REFERENCE
A time reference is used in the sentence to show
starting time of the action or for how long the
action continues.
Two specific words “since” and “for” are used in the
sentence.
The word “since” is used if the exact starting time
(e.g. since Friday, since 10 am) of the action is
known or intended to be shown in the sentence.
The word “for” is used to express the amount of
time (e.g. for six hours) for which the action
continued towards a point in future.
