of actions or steps.
➜ It explains how people perform different
processes in a sequence of steps.
➜ The purpose of procedural texts is to provide
sequenced information or directions so that
people can successfully perform activities in
safe, efficient and appropriate ways.

Steps is ways, methods, or what you should

Generic Structure of Procedure Text

do that)
➜ focuses on generalized people rather than
individuals (first you take, rather than first I take)
➜ Imperative verbs (hold, don’t mix etc)
➜ action verbs (cut, fold, twist, hold etc)
➜ linking words to do with time (first, when, then)
are used to connect the text
➜ detailed information on how (carefully, with the
scissors); where (from the top); when (after it has
set)
➜ detailed factual description (shape, size, color,
amount)
Language Features of Procedure Text
16. 1. Hold a meeting in your organization.
2. Decide the committee of the event you are going to hold.
3. Make a proposal about the event.
4. Check the proposal to minimize the wrong spelling or the
grammar instead.
5. Ask for the head of OSIS, head of committe, secretary, and
treasure signatures in the proposal.
6. Ask signatures of the student body president and the head
master of the school.
7. Hand over the signed proposal to administration office to get
money to hold the event.
8. Write down the amount of money you need on a note
provided by administration office.
9. Get the money by handing over the note. The note is used
for the transaction evidence.
10. After the event was held, give them note to indicate that the
money was used to success the event.
