Directory submission
Introduction
05/14/132
Directory submission is simply submitting your link in
different directories.
In this tutorial, we will deal with an example on how to deal
with Directory submission.
Uses
05/14/133
To get listing in directories
To generate back links which is helpful for better SEO
It will be Strong (They will be in the database of respective
DS site forever until and unless it will be in the issue of
spamming etc.,)
Work over view:
05/14/134
There are a lot of websites to submit our links for free.
For example, let us consider http://www.addsite-
submitfree.com/is a online directory web site.
Note that, maximum directory websites doesn’t require you to
create an account to post your links.
So, you can submit as many links as possible in a single directory
website.
Submit your link:
05/14/135
Open http://www.addsite-submitfree.com/for example.
Click on ‘post link’
Choose the category related to your website
Write the title and describe in respective fields.
Write the keyword in keyword box.
Enter the cache code
Click on ‘submit link’
05/14/136
05/14/137
Here you will observe 3 types of links
1) Paid/ Premium
2) Reciprocal
3) Regular
Reciprocal is nothing but link exchange, we have to put their
link in our website
Paid/Premium is nothing but it will be in best place i.e the
page which has best PR. These links will be approved
earlier
Regular – We use this option in general
05/14/138
After submitting your link a new page will appear displaying
something like “your link was submitted. And your link will
appear as http://www.addsite-submitfree.com
Record the above displayed link in note-pad/ Excel sheet to
maintain a record
05/14/139
Important things
you need to follow
1
05/14/1310
Prepare Your Site. If you don't have a high-
quality site then chances are you won't get listed
by directories. Your content should be useful and
relevant. It should be free of "under
construction" pages and broken links. Make sure
that you keep ads to a minimum, that you don't
redirect users to other pages, and that you don't
have duplicate content on another site.
2
05/14/1311
Get Your Listing Details Ready. Keep the
following information in front of you at all times
to make directory submission easier: Your URL,
the title of your website, a description of your
website, your keywords, and your name and
address.
3
05/14/1312
Find Good Directories. Use DMOZ and Yahoo
to find more-specialized niche directories. When
you're checking out each directory, pay attention
to how it's organized, and spend some time
determining which category or categories are
most appropriate for your site. When you submit
your site, note it on a log with the date of your
submission.
4
05/14/1313
Check Your Results. Some directories
notify you when your site is listed and some
don't. Be sure to check the directories to
which you have submitted often to find out
if your site is listed. If it's been over two
months and your site still isn't listed, try
submitting it again, but don't resubmit any
sooner than that.
Meta Attributes
05/14/1314
Look for "noindex" or "nofollow" attributes in
Meta Description along with Java Script links -
they do not pass PR juice.
Get Your Website Listed In DMOZ
Open Directory
05/14/1315
Submitting your website to DMOZ (or Open
Directory Project) is considered to be one of the
vital steps in the Search Engine Optimization
(SEO) process. DMOZ is a large, human-edited
directory of the Web that offers a wide range of
results for major search engines including
Google.
Automated submission
05/14/1316
There are different software through which you
can submit your site to the web directories. This
process is known as automated submission
system.
Advantages- Automated
submission
05/14/1317
The only one advantage of automated submission
is time saving. In manual process you will need
hours, even days to submit some 50 or 100
articles, whereas, you can do it within minutes or
hours through automated system. By using such
software you can submit site yourself without the
help from some experts.
Disadvantages- Automated
submission
05/14/1318
1. Almost each of the web directories has separate
norms and forms for article submission. Also the input
fields vary from directory to directory. Automated
system can not abide by all the norms and guidelines.
2. In automated system, you can not choose the right
category for submission. The software chooses
everything and does not let you opt.
3. Sometimes the articles may be rejected for grammar,
spelling or syntax errors which can not be identified by
the automated system. So, there comes the possibility of
straight rejection or ban.
Manual submission
05/14/1319
Do not go for automated submission - it is always
safe to manually submit your site in the best
directories.

Directory submission

  • 2. Introduction 05/14/132 Directory submission is simply submitting your link in different directories. In this tutorial, we will deal with an example on how to deal with Directory submission.

  • 5. Submit your link: 05/14/135 Open http://www.addsite-submitfree.com/for example. Click on ‘post link’ Choose the category related to your website Write the title and describe in respective fields. Write the keyword in keyword box. Enter the cache code Click on ‘submit link’
  • 7. 05/14/137 Here you will observe 3 types of links 1) Paid/ Premium 2) Reciprocal 3) Regular Reciprocal is nothing but link exchange, we have to put their link in our website Paid/Premium is nothing but it will be in best place i.e the page which has best PR. • 8. 05/14/138 After submitting your link a new page will appear displaying something like “your link was submitted. And your link will appear as http://www.addsite-submitfree.com Record the above displayed link in note-pad/ Excel sheet to maintain a record
  • 10. 1 05/14/1310 Prepare Your Site. If you don't have a high- quality site then chances are you won't get listed by directories. Your content should be useful and relevant. It should be free of "under construction" pages and broken links. Make sure that you keep ads to a minimum, that you don't redirect users to other pages, and that you don't have duplicate content on another site.
  • 11. 2 05/14/1311 Get Your Listing Details Ready. Keep the following information in front of you at all times to make directory submission easier: Your URL, the title of your website, a description of your website, your keywords, and your name and address.
  • 12. 3 05/14/1312 Find Good Directories. Use DMOZ and Yahoo to find more-specialized niche directories. When you're checking out each directory, pay attention to how it's organized, and spend some time determining which category or categories are most appropriate for your site. When you submit your site, note it on a log with the date of your submission.
  • 13. 4 05/14/1313 Check Your Results. Some directories notify you when your site is listed and some don't. Be sure to check the directories to which you have submitted often to find out if your site is listed. If it's been over two months and your site still isn't listed, try submitting it again, but don't resubmit any sooner than that.

Also the input fields vary from directory to directory. Automated system can not abide by all the norms and guidelines.  2. In automated system, you can not choose the right category for submission. The software chooses everything and does not let you opt.  3. Sometimes the articles may be rejected for grammar, spelling or syntax errors which can not be identified by the automated system. So, there comes the possibility of straight rejection or ban.
